Palace have won just four times in 16 matches, piling pressure on veteran boss Roy Hodgson.
And speculation continues to claim that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis could replace Steve Cooper – despite supporters still very much showing their support for their manager.
Now a fresh report in Spain has claimed that Julen Lopetegui is wanted by both teams.
The 57-year-old former Spanish national team and Real Madrid boss is currently a free agent.

He impressed last season in the Premier League after taking over at Wolves in November and led them away from danger to a 13th finish.
However, following a disagreement with Molineux chiefs over the direction that the club was going in, he left the club just days before the start of this season.
Lopetegui is allegedly still living in England due to his desire to land another job in our top-flight.
And now he may not have to wait too much longer for an opportunity.

Marca claim that Palace have “already approached” Lopetegui about potentially replacing Hodgson, but Forest are “the most interested” in him.
This update states that he has been “updating himself” by watching a lot of live matches throughout his time out of the game.
He has also visited Manchester City to chat with Pep Guardiola and is believed to have enjoyed a recent three-hour meeting with England’s Gareth Southgate as well.
Lopetegui remains “waiting” for something to come up and this report is saying that Forest have already “sounded out” his availability.
But with Palace also already being in touch with an approach, it looks set to be a straight out fight for his services from the two strugglers.

Premier League clubs vote for anti-Chelsea rule with fans stunned to find Todd Boehly’s Blues were one of them

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs have voted to limit the period over which transfer fees can be paid to just five years. The decision was made following a vote at a virtual shareholders’ meeting on Tuesday.
Chelsea have spent £1bn in transfers under Todd BoehlyCredit: Rex
Todd Boehly’s Chelsea had taken advantage of amortisation rules to sign more than £1BILLION worth of players and spread the cost over a longer period to help balance the books.
So a player signed for £60m on a six-year contract would cost a team £10m per year in their accounts.
Enzo Fernandez penned a staggering eight-and-a-half-year deal, while Mykhailo Mudryk and Moises Caicedo both signed eight-year contracts.
The new rule brings the Premier League in line with Uefa, who set a five-year limit on amortisation in June.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
It was voted in by 15 Premier League clubs INCLUDING Chelsea, kicks in tomorrow and does not affect existing deals.
And teams ARE still allowed to give players contracts lasting longer than five years.
A statement read: “Premier League Shareholders today agreed to amend the rule on amortisation of player registration costs to bring in line with UEFA’s regulations.
“Going forward, a five-year maximum will apply to all new or extended player contracts.

“Clubs also approved a rule amendment to enable the Premier League Board, in circumstances where a Club owes a transfer debt to another Premier League or EFL Club, to stop the Club registering more players until the outstanding payment has been made.
“The Board can also have the option to deduct the amount from the Club’s entitlement to the League’s central funds.”
Boehly’s decision to vote for the rule change sparked a frenzy with fans.
One said: “Why is Chelsea in favour of that.”
Another added: “Exploited the system then stopped the other teams from copying.”
One joked: “Take advantage of the loophole and then vote against it. Todd Boehly Masterclass.”
Another said: “Boehly really be playing 8D chess. Took advantage of the long ass contracts and then chose to vote against so nobody can follow suit” More

And even under new boss Erik ten Hag, who coached him at Ajax, the midfielder has still been isolated from the starting XI.
It has left his Old Trafford future in doubt as Van de Beek desperately looks to end his United nightmare.
And now according to Fabrizio Romano, talks are progressing between United and Frankfurt.
It could see the former Ajax star leave on loan in January

LaLiga leaders Girona, who have the same owners as Man City, are also said to be interested.
Van de Beek managed just ten appearances last season having been sidelined through injury and illness.

Chelsea’s five-man transfer wishlist includes Osimhen and Toney but club will be forced to rip up wage structure

CHELSEA have a five-man striker wishlist that includes Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, according to reports. But it is believed the club would have to rip up their wage structure to land a big-name forward.

Victor Osimhen could also prove an expensive outlayCredit: Reuters
Nicolas Jackson was signed in the summer but has struggled with just six goals in 15 league games.
Chelsea’s poor form from last season has continued under Mauricio Pochettino, who is keen to add more firepower up-front.
The Blues are 12th in the Premier League and already 14 points off the top four, and failing to qualify for the Champions League means they may have to increase their salary offer to land the targets they want.
Chelsea have a long-term interest in Napoli striker Osimhen while Toney is another player they are monitoring.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
But a club source revealed to The Telegraph that both players would only be arriving for big money.
They said: “Chelsea are not going to qualify for Europe next season the way they’ve been going, so they would have to offer either Osimhen or Toney really big money. That’s not something they’ve been doing this year.”
The Blues have installed a policy of signing young players on relatively low wages – but on extremely long contracts.
However that is not something that would appeal to Toney, 27, and Osimhen, 24, who have already established themselves as top talents.

In addition, there would be a huge transfer fee involved.
Brentford are keen to hold onto Toney who has also attracted interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.
So Chelsea might have to bid around £100million to sign the Bees star, with Napoli likely to demand similar for Osimhen.
If the Blues are priced out of a move they could focus their attention on Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokores, who has scored 15 goals in 18 games since his summer move from Coventry.
The Guardian report Chelsea have been scouting the Swede so could launch a move for him when the transfer window re-opens.
While Todd Boehly could also fund a move for Copenhagen striker Roony Bardghji or Club Brugge teenager Antonio Nusa, according to the Evening Standard.

How ‘Cristiano Ronaldo money’ blocked Man Utd from signing Harry Kane before Bayern transfer

According to The Mail, the Red Devils tried to finally get their star man in the summer when the striker had only one year left on his Spurs deal and was adamant he wouldn’t extend this time around.
The North Londoners’ chairman Daniel Levy was under immense pressure by owner Joe Lewis to sell the 30-year-old in order to avoid losing the club’s greatest asset for free the year after.
However, Levy, who is well known for being an immensely tough negotiator, was not at all keen on letting the England captain going to a Premier League rival, even though the player wanted United.
Therefore, United would definitely have had to splash a staggering amount to seal a deal with the Tottenham bigwig.

However, the Manchester giants would also have to spend a staggering amount on the forward’s wages.
Kane would have cost Erik ten Hag’s side a total amount similar to Ronaldo during the Al-Nassr superstar’s second stint at Old Trafford.
It’s understood that the Tottenham legend’s salary at Bayern Munich is in the neighbourhood of £500,000 per week, including signing-on fee and bonuses.
Therefore, United would have found themselves back at the same situation they were in when Ronaldo returned in 2021.

The Red Devils would be dealing with an expensive contract of a player in his thirties that wouldn’t have much resale value at the end of his deal.
That led to United backing off and Kane ultimately moving to Bayern after a £104million deal with Tottenham.
And the centre-forward has already amassed a staggering total of 22 goals and seven assists in 19 appearances with the German champions. More

But after their 4-1 defeat against Spurs on Sunday and now conceding seven goals in his last two games, Newcastle might be tempted to bolster their goalkeeper ranks in January.

Phillips has been tipped to join Juventus on loan as Guardiola admitted to “feeling sorry” for the England star.
He said: “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I feel so sorry for my decision for him. I’ve said that many times.
“He doesn’t deserve what has happened to him and I’m so sorry.
“The only thing I can say about him is I am asking for good personalities and characters and he is a perfect example. And after that I have to give him something and I didn’t do that.
“It’s just because I visualise some things and visualise the team and things – and I struggle to see him.
“I’m not very pleased [with myself] and I am so sorry for him. I will not say that [to him] because it is a business and I have to be a professional.
“But if one guy behaves [poorly], I don’t care. But the way he behaves with the team-mates and everyone, I care. So that’s why hopefully it can turn around.
“And I’ve said many times, if it comes to January and he stays, I’m more than pleased because he trains really good and he’s a lovely guy and character.” More
