Saudi Pro League will NEVER rival the Prem until they really splash the cash on genuine world star in his prime

SAUDI Pro League clubs have been throwing around a vast amount of money this summer. But until they sign Kylian Mbappe, or another genuine world star in his prime, then the major European clubs will remain relaxed about it.

Right now, it’s just the latest league where older players go to die their footballing deaths — like Karim Benzema joining Al-Ittihad — for one last earner.
It’s the same with Major League Soccer in America, it was the same with China for a while, and I did it myself in Japan at the end of my playing career.
I don’t want to sound holier-than-thou but Saudi Arabia has a deeply troubling human rights record — last year 80 people were executed in one day, most for what we would regard as minor offences.
There are many other serious human rights concerns.

It is easy to say, ‘I would never go there for any money’, until millions and millions are dangled in front of your face — then that dilemma becomes very real.
Players can guarantee the financial security of their family for generations to come.
It can’t be easy to turn down that sort of offer.
The Saudis, and their sportswashing project, are not going away — in football as in golf, boxing, tennis and other sports.

They have ambitions to host World Cups and Olympics, and they have such vast wealth.
But until they can land an Mbappe, they will not be seen as a major threat by the top European leagues.
Some clubs, such as Chelsea, are even seeing the emergence of the Saudi Pro League as a major positive.
They have been able to offload unwanted players for big money, instead of having to loan them out while still paying half of their wages.

Now, according to David Ornstein, a medical is set to take place “imminently” after a deal was reached between the two clubs.

Blues goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts is a big fan of Sanchez having worked with him at Brighton previously.

It was the first time five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo hadn’t been picked for a major tournament fixture since 2008.
And Ramos, now 22, made the most of it as he netted a brilliant hat-trick in the last-16 clash – before keeping his spot for the shock quarter-final loss to Morocco.
United were instantly linked with for the Benfica star, especially given Ronaldo’s acrimonious departure a month earlier.
But he now seems destined for PSG, who are in need of a replacement for another global superstar, Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe is at loggerheads with the Parisians, and the club are desperate to sell this summer, with Chelsea, Real Madrid and Al-Hilal interested.
And, according to Fabrizio Romano, they already have Ramos lined up after agreeing a £69m fee with Benfica.
Ramos – who notched 27 goals and 12 assists for Benfica last season – has reportedly agreed a contract until 2028.
And the deal could be completed this week, along with the £43m capture of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.

PSG remain committed to getting Mbappe off their books with the forward looking to run down his deal, which would allow him to leave for nothing next summer.
The club believes the French superstar, 24, has an agreement to join Madrid for free next year.
PSG are trying to offload their big-money man after he refused to sign a new contract and rejected a world-record transfer to Saudi Arabia.
It is understood the Ligue 1 champions want around £215m for Mbappe, although few clubs in world football could afford that.
If no agreement can be reached in the next month, Mbappe faces the real threat of being exiled from the PSG squad. More
