And the crazy outlay has surpassed last summer’s record spending by a whopping £440m.
Arsenal and Chelsea both signed £100m+ players in Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo.
With Caicedo breaking a record himself by becoming the most expensive Premier League signing ever at £115m, surpassing the £107m set by his teammate Enzo Fernandez last season.
And it’s no surprise that it’s Chelsea who have been breaking records with The Blues splashing an unfathomable £390m – more than anyone else in the league.

In fact the West London outfit have spent over £1billion on transfers themselves since Todd Boehly took over last summer.
But they were able to offset their incomings with some significant exits – Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic are just a few of the players who left Stamford Bridge during the window.
Elsewhere Tottenham were the league’s second highest spenders after they managed to cash in on over £100m from Bayern Munich for the transfer of Harry Kane.
They re-invested that money and then some, spending over £200million on the likes of Brennan Johnson and James Maddison.

Luton Town were the top flight’s most frugal side spending a comparatively measly £20million all summer.
But they still managed to bring in 12 new faces to Kenilworth Road for their debut Premier League campaign.
There was big money signings all over the league with Manchester United dropping £72million on Rasmus Hojlund and their neighbours Man City forking out almost £80m for Josko Gvardiol.
And it hasn’t gone unnoticed by football fans with many taking issue with the crazy numbers being bounded about.
One fan on social media said: “They are ruining football.”
Whilst another added: “Football is becoming a money game, it’s inevitable. Sad but impressive at the same time. Can’t deny it’s the biggest league in the world though.”
There was £255m spent on deadline day alone with big name signings like Ryan Garvenberch to Liverpool and Alex Iwobi to Fulham getting over the line.
Nottingham Forest made SEVEN signings on deadline day as teams made a mad rush to improve their squads before the window slammed shut.

At the other end of the field, new United goalkeeper Andre Onana’s £47.2m move to Old Trafford sees him take the gloves.

Brennan Johnson (£50m), Cole Palmer (£42.5m), James Maddison (£45m) and Alexis Mac Allister (£40m) were among the other big-money movers before the transfer window slammed shut.
Overseas, Jude Bellingham’s £115m switch from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid was the biggest deal, closely followed by Harry Kane leaving Tottenham to sign for Bayern Munich in a £104m move.
Neymar was the top Saudi move as Al-Hilal stumped up £78m for the Brazilian from PSG – although the world record could be shattered if Liverpool relent and sell Mo Salah.
Randal Kolo Muani joined PSG for £77.2m while Lucas Hernandez (£45m) and Manuel Ugarte (£51.5m) also headed to the Parc des Princes as Kim Min-jae headed to Bayern Munich for £43.5m.

Inside Kasper Schmeichel’s shocking season in Nice from surprise Leicester exit to brutal tweet and booed by own fans

NICE’S blunt 29-word statement on deadline day concluded a shocking year for Kasper Schmeichel. The goalkeeper, 36, was brutally axed by the Ligue 1 side as they ripped up his contract just 12 months after he arrived in France.

He lifted the FA Cup with Leicester in May 2021Credit: AFP
And that came after he was controversially let go after 11 years with Leicester City.
The Dane cemented himself as a club legend at the King Power.
He made a whopping 479 appearances for the Foxes, famously winning the Premier League in 2015-16 and 2021 FA Cup, taking on the armband and even ‘scoring’ a last-gasp header that eventually got credited to Chris Wood.
But many eyebrows were raised when he was left out of a 5-1 win at Watford in May 2022, then missed Leicester’s pre-season training camp and eventually was allowed to leave with a year left on his contract.
    READ MORE ON TRANSFERS
Part of that came down to a business decision – Schmeichel earned a reported £130,000 per week, second only to Jamie Vardy on Fosse Way.
But SunSport understands the goalkeeper was not universally popular within the Seagrave training ground and it felt the right time to move him on, receiving just £1m from Nice.
Upon his emotional exit, Schmeichel said: “I came to Leicester as a young man who was in need of a home. I needed a bit of love, I’d been around a lot of clubs and I needed somewhere I could call home.
“It’s been more than just a club to me, it’s been a place where I’ve made lifelong friends and memories – it has been my home. Thank you for your unwavering support – you are what makes this club so special.

“This isn’t a goodbye, this is farewell, see you soon. I’m sure we’ll see each other soon. But again, thank you so much for everything you’ve done.”
Not only had Brendan Rodgers lost one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League but he also lost a key experienced head in a dressing room significantly lacking leadership.
Danny Ward took the No1 spot between the sticks while injury-prone Jonny Evans inherited the armband in a dismal season that ended in relegation for the Foxes.
But for Schmeichel, the grass was not necessarily any greener on the other side of the Channel.
He got off to a nightmare start when he allegedly turned up at Nice overweight.
To make matters worse, he was said to have wound up his new team-mates by breaking club rules – including arriving late for team meetings and undermining manager Lucien Favre.
Schmeichel then got overlooked for the opening game and dropped again in September.
And although he did play 36 Ligue 1 games, he found himself on the bench for three Europa Conference League fixtures.

The goalkeeper’s snub for a 5-1 win at Watford was the beginning of the end of his 11 years at LeicesterCredit: Getty
Then by October, his lack of popularity was demonstrated by his own fans booing him and there were already reports he could be let go by Nice due to his “poor attitude” when the transfer market reopened in January.
The 93-cap Denmark international stayed put but failed to win over Nice’s board, management or supporters.
And throughout the summer window, his name continued to be linked with a transfer exit, despite two years still to run on his deal.
Giants Chelsea and Bayern Munich were both tipped to make moves while Nottingham Forest considered a shock swoop.
But they all opted to go for different options and Schmeichel was left in limbo with seemingly no club wanting him.
New Nice boss Francesco Farioli decided he wanted ex-Chelsea and PSG goalkeeper Marin Bulka as his first-choice stopper at the Allianz Riviera.
And with Schmeichel surplus to requirements, he had his deal terminated.
The club said bluntly: “OGC Nice and @kschmeichel1 have decided by mutual consent to terminate the contract of the Danish international. The club wishes him every success for the rest of his career.”

A shock reunion with Rodgers at Celtic has been rumoured for the legendary goalkeeper, despite the surprising exit under the Northern Irishman from Leicester.
But should that fail to materialise, Schmeichel’s career is at serious risk of fizzling out to a sad end as an unwanted free agent who turns 37 in November and question marks over his character, mentality and physicality, just two years on from arguably his greatest day leading his team to glory under the Wembley arch.

Maatsen spent last term on loan with the Clarets in the Championship, but will be staying put at Stamford Bridge this season.
The Blues are said to have accepted the bid which was a loan offer with an obligation to buy for £31.5m.
But the move ultimately collapsed after it was revealed by Jacob Steinberg that Maatsen was reluctant to head to Turf Moor on a permanent basis.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s true transfer fee leaves fans staggered after Chelsea ace was once linked with Bayern Munich

The 22-year-old was once one of the most highly rated prospects in the country, but is no longer at the top of his game.
Back in 2020 when he had first made a name for himself at Chelsea, Bayern Munich tried to steal him away from The Blues in a deal worth a whopping £70million.
But just three years later and he is now leaving Stamford Bridge for the City Ground in a deal worth pennies in comparison.
The Telegraph has revealed that Forest have actually signed Hudson-Odoi for just £3million with £2m of potential add-ons.

It had first been said that the tricky winger would be leaving for £8million, but that was later corrected to the true fee.
And the bargain price tag has left Chelsea fans stunned – leading many of them to head to social media to voice their opinions on the matter.
One said: “Imagine he thrives now, £5m could be an absolutely insane deal.”
Another added: “This fee baffles me. Why so cheap?”

    A third commented: “£5m, I’m crying.”
Whilst another fan joked that there must be a mistake with the numbers, they wrote: “I think you missed out a zero there.”
Hudson-Odoi burst on to the scene back in the 2019/2020 when he was playing regular minutes for Chelsea.
He even earned himself a call-up to the England squad and was capped three times for the Three Lions.
But his playing time began to dry up and after struggling to get minutes he spent last season on loan in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.
Even there he had a hard time getting on the pitch as he made just 14 league appearances all season registering one assist and failing to score a goal.
There will be high hopes for the Englishman in Nottingham as Forest look to improve on their 16th place Premier League finish last season.
The Tricky Trees had a busy deadline day which saw them sign an incredible SEVEN players including Divock Origi and Nuno Tavares.

Salah is the subject of strong interest from Saudi champions Al-Ittihad, who have already bid £170million.
Reports also claim that they could even bid as much as £200million to land the 31-year-old.
Although Salah is said to have told Liverpool he wants the move, he currently remains at Anfield.

Salah has less than two years remaining on his Liverpool deal and will be 33 by the time it expires in 2025.
His future is far from resolved, either, with the Saudi transfer window not closing until Thursday.

Jamie Carragher accused by Gary Neville of ‘changing mind’ on Mo Salah transfer as he reveals what Liverpool should do

It has also been reported that Al-Ittihad have since tabled a second bid worth £170million and they are willing to go as high as £200million to get a deal over the line.
If a bid of £200million were to be accepted it would become a new world-record transfer fee, eclipsing the £198million spent on Neymar by PSG back in 2017.
Liverpool legend Carragher has offered up his opinion on what he thinks his former club should do, but his mate and fellow pundit Neville has claimed that he’s changed his mind on the matter.
Carragher previously stated that he thought Liverpool should have accepted the £150million offer for Salah, but he has since said they should hold out for the £200millon that could be available.

Speaking on Sky Sports he said: “I want more money. I actually think, when you look at what [Harry] Kane went for, Mo Salah has got two years to go [on his contract].

“For Liverpool to sell right now they are going to want more than what he’s worth.”
He went on to say: “For any player, if that number just keeps going up and up and up, you can’t turn that down and that’s £200million.

The Premier League transfer window has now closed, but a deal could still be completed with the Saudi Arabian window open until September 7.

Jurgen Klopp is also said to be keen on keeping hold of his star man who has helped him win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup during his time on Merseyside.
But a big name move to Saudi Arabia wouldn’t be a surprise with huge stars from all over Europe already making the move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

The Welsh forward, 22, has completed a stunning deadline day move to North London, penning a six-year deal in the process.
Forest boss Steve Cooper paid tribute to Johnson, saying: “Whilst we’re obviously going to miss Brennan and the memories he’s given so many of us when he’s lit up The City Ground on the right wing, we’re extremely proud of him and we’re pleased that he’s got this move as he enters the next stage in his career.
“Everyone knows how great he is on the pitch, but what many people don’t see is the kind, humble and genuine young man he is off it.
“He was always learning, always showed great humility and had a superb nature in the way he interacted with his team-mates and staff.

But much of the post-match reaction focused on an altercation between Johnson and Richarlison.
Spurs’ Brazilian attacker, 26, seemed to be mocking Forest late on in the game when he juggled the ball near the touchline.
But Johnson was not in the mood for the South American’s antics.
Moments later, he took Richarlison out with a late, aggressive challenge – receiving a yellow card for his troubles.
Now, 12 months on from that incident, the pair are set to become team-mates in North London.
Reacting to the clip – which re-emerged on social media as Johnson closed in on a move to Spurs – one person said: “Johnson and Richarlison have some bridge building ahead.”
Another added: “Looking forward to the Richarlison x Brennan Johnson reunion.”
And a third replied: “Johnson meeting Richarlison for the first time should be awkward.”
Johnson registered 29 goals and 12 assists in 109 appearances for Forest.
He has also racked up 19 caps for Wales, netting twice for his country.
