    I NEED A HIRO
Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Japanese star Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna, writes ETIENNE FERMIE.
The defender may be little known in England, but he is a rising star that has already had brushes with Europe’s elite.
From marking Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Serie A to rejecting Barcelona as a kid, Tomiyasu has pedigree as a shrewd potential acquisition.
With the Gunners poised to confirm his arrival at the Emirates, how about we get to know the defender a little better?

    JAMES’ JOY
New Leeds United signing Daniel James has been expressing his delight to Sky Sports News after he finally made the move to Elland Road for £25m.
The Welsh international joins from Manchester United, having almost made the move to Yorkshire from Swansea in 2019.
“It feels great. I’m glad everything is over the line now and I’m excited to get going and move forward.
“It’s all happened in the last day or two. It’s been a whirlwind, a bit of a crazy time for me, but I’m here now. I’m grateful that the club still believe in me from that time two-and-a-half years ago.
“Last time I signed everything and it fell through at the last minute. Everything today has felt like déjà vu, and it feels just like yesterday. There were a couple of jokes in the boardroom about it.
The last time I came here was with Swansea two weeks after I didn’t sign and I got a loud roar from the crowd then, and that’s when I wasn’t playing for them. I’m really looking forward to it now I am.Daniel JamesSky Sports News
    DONE DEAL: NELSON JOINS FEYENOORD
Feyenoord have signed Arsenal academy product Reiss Nelson on loan.
The 21-year-old will wear the No14 shirt for the Dutch outfit.
Sporting Director Frank Arnesen is over the moon with the signing.
He said: “We’ve been following Reiss for months. Getting him to Feyenoord was one of our priorities in this transfer window, so we are very happy that it worked out and that we can welcome him today.
“Reiss is a very creative attacker, a fast boy with good action who can make it very difficult for defenders in one-on-one.
“We can use such a player in our vanguard.”
Nelson is equally as excited to embark on this new adventure.
He added: “I’m looking forward to playing in this beautiful stadium.
“Feyenoord is a wonderful club and a great challenge for me. I hope I can get the fans cheering soon.”

    LOAN MOVE
Academy graduate Reiss Nelson is set to join Dutch side Feyenoord on loan.
The club have dropped a hint on Twitter about a possible imminent signing, expected to be the 21-year-old.
Feyenoord tweeted: “Hey @FabrizioRomano, here we go!”
The club have also teased fans with a ‘guess who’ image, which you need to shake to reveal the face of Nelson.
    DONE DEAL: MUNOZ SIGNS
Newcastle have completed the signing of highly rated Mexican forward Santiago Munoz on an 18-month loan….. sound familiar?
The 19-year-old arrives from Mexican top-flight side Santos Laguna.
He scored three goals and provided three assists in 13 league games last season.
The loan deal has an option to be turned into a permanent move should he have a successful spell with the club’s academy.
    SET TO STAY
Man Utd and England midfielder Jesse Lingard won’t leave Old Trafford this summer.
The 28-year-old will stay at United and fight for his place, despite having less than a year left on his current contract.
West Ham – where he spent a successful six months on loan – have opted to sign Croatian attacking midfielder Nickla Vlasic for £33million.

    DONE DEAL: JAMES JOINS LEEDS
Dan-tastic! Two-and-a-half years after Dan James was first pictured holding a Leeds United shirt, the Welshman has finally signed on at Elland Road.
The forward joins Marcelo Bielsa’s squad from Manchester United for a fee of £25m, having put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
James was first set to join the Whites on deadline day in January 2019, having completed a medical and photoshoot with the Yorkshire club.
However, his then-club, Swansea City, pulled the plug on the £10m deal at the eleventh hour after a disagreement over its structuring.
Six months later, the Welsh international moved to Old Trafford for £15m, and went on to score six goals in 50 Premier League appearances.
    RON TOP
Dream Team gaffers have the entire international break to think about their strategy for September, writes NICK ELLIOT.
The central question to answer: is Cristiano Ronaldo a must-have asset?
Man United confirmed the return of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to Old Trafford on Friday after a dramatic day of twists and turns during which he was initially linked with Man City.
The Portugal international is arguably the greatest goalscorer in football history – he’s scored at least 30 goals in ten of the last eleven seasons.
Ronaldo is without a doubt the most prestigious player to ever be introduced (reintroduced) to Dream Team.
And that’s why he will have a starting price of £7.5m.

    CZECH MATES
Alex Kral looks set to join West Ham on deadline day.
The Czech Republic international will link-up with international team-mates Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal, according to The Telegraph.
Kral to West Ham is 90 per cent done, and the midfielder will add some much-needed depth to the midfield.
The agreement is believed to be a season-long loan with an option to buy.
Spartak chief Evgeny Melezhikov confirms final paperwork now being completed.
He said: “Kral is leaving. We had different options for him (Atalanta). We’ve agreed on all terms with West Ham.”
According to SunSport’s Duncan Wright, the move will allow highly rated midfielder Conor Coventry to join Peterborough on loan.

    BERAHINO’S BACK
League One high-flyers Sheffield Wednesday have swooped to sign Saido Berahino.
The 28-year-old had been playing his football in Belgium with Zulte Waregem and Charleroi, but has returned to England to join the South Yorkshire club on a permanent deal.
The former West Brom striker was seen as something of a wonderkid when he shot on to the scene at the Hawthorns, but suffered a fall from grace after an ill-fated move to Stoke City.
Having joined the Potters for £12m in January 2017, Berahino went more than two-and-a-half years without scoring a goal.
However, he has recently spoken about having matured as a player and person, and will hope to rebuild his reputation at Hillsborough.
    CROWN JULES
It is unlikely that Chelsea will sign Jules Kounde before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
According to journalist J Montanelli, the Blues will need to activate his release clause in order to sign him.
Chelsea have previously submitted a bid worth £47million, £21m short of his 368m release clause.
Kurt Zouma was, of course, sold to West Ham to help fund a move for the Frenchman.
    ‘HE’S REALLY GOOD’
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has called imminent Arsenal arrival Takehiro Tomiyasu ‘really good’.
Tomiyasu is a name Gunners fans will only be familiar with as he was linked with a move to rivals Tottenham.
But Romano has added to the excitement of the signing, describing what’s to come of the defender.
    He said: “He’s really good.
“Right-back, centre-back, sometimes also left-back. Serious guy, top professional.”
    SWAP FEL
Barcelona are exploring the possibility of swapping Antoine Griezmann for Joao Felix, reports say.
According to SPORT, The LaLiga giants – who have just lost Lionel Messi – have offered a swap deal.
At first, Barca tried to pinch Felix on loan, but the LaLiga champions swiftly turned the offer down.
The second offer, however, involves sending Griezmann back to Atletico.
Atletico have not yet made a decision about the offer.
    ITS SAUL GOOD
Saul’s representatives are ‘working hard’ to engineer a move away from Atletico Madrid in the final hours of the window.
According to Sky Sports, Saul is open to a loan move to the Premier League with Chelsea being his likely destination.
The player does NOT have to travel to England to complete a move.
Atletico appear to be preparing to replace Saul should a move go through.
The LaLiga champions are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Pablo Sarabia, according to Get French Football News.
The two parties are currently discussing the terms of a loan deal.

    ON BLAST
Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, who is a regular feature on talkSPORT, has blasted Ainsley Maitland-Niles for his social media plea to leave Arsenal.
Maitland-Niles posted on Instagram pleading with the club to let him go to a club where he will feel ‘wanted’ after the Gunners reportedly turned down an approach from Everton.
However, Jordan believes the player should be fined two weeks wages for his outburst.
He said on talkSPORT: “If it was me, I would find him two weeks wages and then say ‘You’re definitely staying’.
“It’s bringing the club into disrepute, the club is in a very fractious position right now with players left right and centre underperforming and the manager under pressure.
“The last thing you need to see is a player coming out and making observations that he’s not loved at the club.
“I would make him stay unless there’s a reason to loan him or transferring him out; it would certainly not be to Everton. He’s under contract and he does as he’s told.”
    ITTEN OUT AT IBROX
Glasgow Rangers have just announced that their Swiss striker Cedric Itten has left to join Bundesliga outfit Greuther Furth on a season-loan.
The forward joined the Ibrox club from St Gallen for a fee of around £2.7m a year ago, and fired six goals in all competitions as Rangers went the entire league campaign undefeated.
The Scottish Premiership champions have included a recall option in today’s deal should they wish to bring the player back to Glasgow later in the season.
    DAV THAT
West Ham-linked Slavia Prague defender David Zima has joined Serie A outfit Torino.
The 20-year-old Czech international has joined Torino for a shrewd £4.2million.
Zima was in the Czech Republic’s Euro 2020 squad that managed to reach the quarter-finals.
But the Czechs were beaten by Denmark 2-1.
    LEICESTER’S LOOK IN
Leicester City have already bolstered their attacking fire power this summer with the signing of Zambian international Patson Daka, and now look set to add Ademola Lookman to their ranks.
The 23-year-old forward is poised to join the Foxes on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig, having spent a similar spell at Fulham last term. He is currently undergoing a medical in the East Midlands.
The former Charlton and Everton talent scored four goals in 34 appearances while with the Cottagers, including one against Leicester in a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium.
However, Lookman blew hot and cold during his time by the Thames, and was unable to stop the London club’s relegation from the Premier League earlier this year.

    HEC-TIC DAY
Hector Bellerin could finally be on his way out of Arsenal, according to reports.
The Athletic are reporting that right-back is expected to join LaLiga outfit Real Betis on loan with NO option to buy.
Bellerin is yet to make an appearance for the Gunners this season.
And he is expected to be replaced by Takehiro Tomiyasu.

    FREE AGENT
French side Lyon are in talks to sign free agent Jerome Boateng, according to Fabrizio Romano.
And French outlet RMC report Boateng is now set to undergo a medical with the Ligue 1 side.
The 32-year-old centre-back left Bayern Munich earlier this summer after his contract expired.
He played over 200 times for the Bavarian club in a ten-year spell in Munich.
But now he is close to sealing a deal to Ligue 1 side Lyon, with the club in ‘direct contact’ with the German international’s agent and a medical now booked in.

    MERRY-GO-ROUND
Super-agent Jorge Mendes attempted to seal Anthony Martial a move to PSG, according to MadridistaReal.
The Athletic reported Martial was touted as a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe should he leave the French giants for Real Madrid.
But with the transfer window nearing an end any potential transfer for Mbappe seems unlikely.
Real Madrid had reportedly handed PSG an ultimatum to accept their initial £145.6million offer, which included £8.6m in add-ons.
But nothing materialised and Real Madrid are now preparing to try and tie up a pre-contract agreement for the 22-year-old on January.
Should that transfer go ahead PSG could their attention to Martial who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks.
    PROUD PAGE
SunSport’s Phil Cadden reports Burnley newboy Connor Roberts has been hailed as Premier League class after joining Sean Dyche’s men.
That’s the verdict of Roberts’ Wales boss Rob Page.
Roberts shone for the Dragons at Euro 2020 and that set up his £2.5million move from Swansea to Turf Moor.
The right-back scored in the 2-0 win over Turkey but then suffered a serious groin injury in the last-16 defeat to Denmark which ended his Euros.
Roberts is expected to be on the sidelines for another month but when asked if Roberts is Prem quality, Page beamed: “Absolutely. He’s a great player. I’ve never seen a right back like him.
“Defensively, he’s very good but he’s got the energy to play like a winger.
“I think back to the Slovakia game when Kieffer [Moore] scores the header, he makes a near post run from right back.
“If he doesn’t make the run then Kieffer doesn’t get the header.
“I’ve never seen another full-back do that in my life so he’s got bags of energy. He’s a great lad as well and that alone will get him a top move. He deserves it.”
    DAN UPDATE
Daniel James’ move to Leeds United is DONE, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reports the signing has been ‘confirmed.’
All that’s left now is for the official announcement from the two clubs.
The 23-year-old joins the Elland Road outfit in an initial £24million deal after spending two years in Manchester.

    FROM SUNSPORT’S ANDY DILLON
Chelsea are ready to let another academy star leave – with Tino Anjorin poised to join Lokomotiv Moscow in an £18m move.
But they are not letting go entirely, with the Blues asking for a £25 million buy back clause to be inserted into the deal.
Dorset-born Anjorin, 19, only signed a new five year contract in June but is believed to be undergoing a medical in London this afternoon to rubber stamp his transfer.
He has played a handful of Premier League, Champions League and cup games but wants more regular game time.
    GUNNER MAKE CUTS
Arsenal are trying to offload seven senior players before the transfer window closes tomorrow.
They hope that Willian, Hector Bellerin, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Sead Kolasinac, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Alex Runarsson will all be off the books by midnight tomorrow.
The Gunners have already sold Joe Willock to Newcastle for £25m, released David Luiz and loaned out Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and William Saliba.
But all of the potential 12 departures will not offset the £128million summer signings of Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.

    DAN THE MAN
Daniel James is in advanced talks with Leeds over a permanent transfer.
Fabrizio Romano claims personal terms are also close after Man Utd agreed to do business with their fierce rivals.
James is surplus to requirements following the arrivals of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
    DONE DEAL
Bayern Munich have announced the signing of RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer.
The Austrian midfielder has moved for around £13.5million.
And the move sees him reunited with former boss Julien Nagelsmann, as well as ex-teammate Dayot Upamecano.
    MAITLAND-NILES UPDATE
Arsenal ace Ainsley Maitland-Niles has dropped a transfer hint on his future amid speculation of a move to Everton.
Maitland-Niles has been linked with a transfer to Goodison Park and took to social media where he appeared keen to depart from the Emirates.
The midfielder, who spent last season on loan to West Brom, hinted that he doesn’t feel “wanted” by the north Londoners.
Maitland-Niles posted in a story on his Instagram account: “All I wanna do is go where I’m wanted and where I’m gonna play”
    DALOT UPDATE
Manchester United ace Diogo Dalot will definitely stay at Manchester United.
That is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who reports that there is a “100%” chance Dalot is staying.
The same applies to Amad Diallo, who was linked with a loan transfer to Feyenoord.
However, Diallo’s move fell through due to an injury and thus the Eredivisie giants turned their focus on Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson
Diogo Dalot will 100% stay at Manchester United – never been in doubt since Saturday decision – and same for Amad Diallo after his injury. Both will stay at the club this summer. 🔴 #MUFCTalks ongoing for Daniel James to Leeds United on a permanent deal.— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 30, 2021

    LINGARD UPDATE
Manchester United are open to selling Jesse Lingard before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
That is according to Manchester Evening News, who report that United are looking to trim their squad size after re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Lingard has entered the last year of his contract but the Red Devils have not received a concrete proposal for the £25million-rated winger.
And it is highly unlikely the Manchester giants would receive a bid close to their valuation before the transfer window slams shut.
West Ham have been trying to bring Lingard back but have switched their focus to CSKA Moscow star Nikola Vlasic
    NELSON DEAL
Arsenal ace Reiss Nelson is heading to Feyenoord ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
That is according to Football London, who report that a deal has been reached between the Eredivisie side and the Gunners.
Nelson, who has fallen down the pecking order in north London, is moving to the Dutch team on a season-long loan.
Feyenoord decided to move for the winger after missing out on Manchester United player Amad Diallo
    BRUN-TALLY HONEST
Lyon star Bruno Guimaraes confirmed that Arsenal were interested in signing him during the summer transfer window.
Guimaraes told Globo Esporte: “There were talks with my manager.
“But nothing official, they asked… well, there was no official proposal.
“My goal, and I made it clear to Juninho, is to win a title here.
“Lyon fans are lacking in titles, they haven’t won something for a long time”
    GETTY IMAGES
    CHECK MAIT
Everton are interested in signing Arsenal ace Ainsley Maitland-Niles ahead of Tuesday’s deadline day.
According to the Daily Mail, the Toffees have made an approach to acquire Maitland-Niles on loan.
The 24-year-old has found himself largely sidelined by Gunners manager Mikel Arteta, and was loaned out to West Brom during the second half of last season.
The academy graduate prefers to play as a midfielder but the Merseysiders could use him as a right-back, having been looking to sign one throughout the summer transfer window
    TRIPPIER BOOST
Arsenal have been handed a transfer boost in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier.
This comes after Lille star Zeki Celik’s agent said that Atletico are keeping tabs on his client.
He told Haber Global: “It is true that Atletico are interested in Zeki Celik, there is the proposal.
    “We are evaluating it.”
Manchester United also ended their pursuit of Trippier as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is satisfied with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot covering that position this season
    TIS THE SEASON
Aston Villa are ready to make a bid for Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline day, reports SunSport’s Alan Nixon.
Jones missed out on a place on the bench for Liverpool against Chelsea during the weekend.
The midfielder would still see his future on Merseyside but Villa are set to try their luck with an enquiry.
The Villans could go in at around £15million and that would put the Reds on the spot and give them a decision to make.
    HAPPY DIAS
Manchester City star Ruben Dias has signed a contract extension to keep him at the Etihad until 2027.
Dias took to social media after putting pen to paper and issued the following statement: “Delighted to extend my stay after a great first year in Manchester.
“Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so at home.
“Now we look forward. The work has only just begun”

    DOUBLE DIP
Crystal Palace are trying to agree a price for Arsenal ace Eddie Nketiah and are willing to splash £12million, reports SunSport’s Alan Nixon.
But Palace have also made a £15m offer for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard as they put pressure on both to commit and join them.
Gunners legend and Eagles boss Patrick Vieira decided to go for Nketiah despite his lack of experience and now hopes to end a chase that began on his arrival at Selhurst Park.
The young centre-forward can leave and the north Londoners initially wanted around £20m but they may drop the fee — with Palace currently leading the hunt despite Brighton considering a move.
Edouard is also liked by Vieira but the cost of signing him is high and will not be coming down
    DIALL-OFF
Feyenoord are keeping tabs on Arsenal ace Reiss Nelson after their loan bid for Amad Diallo fell through.
The Eredivisie giants shifted their attention to Nelson, whom they also wish to sign on loan, after Diallo suffered an injury.
Feyenoord technical director Frank Arnesen told AD: “He got injured, it’s cancelled.
“Too bad, everything was done. I’ve talked a lot with the people at Manchester United, but it’s more sensible to let him recover at that club”
    HAALAND LATEST
Borussia Dortmund insist Erling Haaland is not for sale after reports throughout the summer suggested a raft of clubs have been keeping tabs.
Haaland has been targeted by the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told Kicker: “We are a football club, not a bank! Our position is very clear and did not change.
“I assume that we will now be confronted with wild rumours for another two days.
“Our position is clear, I don’t need to play the parrot all the time.”
However, it seems definite that United are going to cool their interest in Haaland now that they re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo
    GETTY IMAGES
    DOI OR DIE
Borussia Dortmund are keeping tabs on Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Dortmund are set to launch an offer for Hudson-Odoi, whom they wish to sign on loan, soon.
According to Sky Germany, the Bundesliga giants are desperate to land a new winger after selling Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.
However, BVB have found themselves in a difficult race against time and, to make matters worse, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is not keen on selling the England international
    ARTETA FUTURE
Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke will give Mikel Arteta more time as Arsenal boss despite the club’s disastrous start in the Premier League.
That is according to Goal, who report that Kroenke is still placing his faith on Arteta.
However, the Gunners’ owner is thought to have a limit and will likely dismiss the Spaniard if results don’t improve
The north Londoners have lost their first three fixtures in the Prem having conceded nine goals without scoring once
    BISSOUMA FUTURE
Brighton star Yves Bissouma has suggested that he won’t be leaving the Amex Stadium this summer.
Bissouma has been linked with a move away as various clubs have been keeping tabs, such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
However, the midfielder took to Twitter after the Seagulls’ 2-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday and said, ‘the best is yet to come’.
Bissouma tweeted: “I find it hard to digest this defeat by what we wanted to win our third game in a row for a great club with incredible fans but unfortunately as we say in football nothing is planned in advance but the best is yet to come focus for next one Brighton & Hove Albion FC”

    IT’S RON
Cristiano Ronaldo has completed his medical ahead of a blockbuster return to Manchester United.
Personal terms have been agreed between United and Ronaldo, who will put pen to paper on a two-year deal.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner returns to the Red Devils after his departure 12 years ago.
The Portugal international joins Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho following a brilliant summer transfer window for the Manchester giants
    AUBAMEYANG REMINDER
Juventus are not looking to sign Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the summer transfer window.
That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims Aubameyang is not on Juve’s radar.
Reports suggested the striker was tipped to replace replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who’s rejoining Manchester United.
Romano adds that the Bianconeri are also not interested in Barcelona’s Sergio Aguero or Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard
    GOING FOR THE KYL
Real Madrid have warned Paris Saint-Germain to accept their latest bid for Kylian Mbappe or risk losing him for free next year.
That is according to Le Parisien, who claim Real have made a final offer of £154million for Mbappe.
And Los Blancos have warned PSG that if their latest bid is rejected, they will quit talks and wait to sign the star striker on a pre-contract agreement in January.

    GOOD MORNING FOOTBALL FANS
Rise and shine on this Bank Holiday Monday – there’s plenty of transfer drama still to go in this crazy window.
Clubs are scrambling to get last minute deals over the line before the deadline on Tuesday evening, with Chelsea still reportedly in for Jules Kounde.
But reports suggest that the Blues will have to cough up another £25m if they want to land their man from Sevilla.
Eddie Nketiah also looks set to leave troubled Arsenal, with Crystal Palace hoping to swoop.
AC Milan have also confirmed the capture of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea, while Tammy Abraham netted a stunning strike for Roma.
And reports suggest that Declan Rice to Chelsea is not off the table for next summer.
The England man has been superb for the Hammers so far this campaign, following on from his exploits at Euro 2020.
And the Blues are reportedly ready to swoop for their man after the season ends in May.
    KOUNDE REMINDER
Chelsea will reportedly be forced to cough up an extra £25million for Sevilla star Jules Kounde.
That is according to Sky Sports, who claim the Andalusians were set to accept the Blues’s £43m offer for Kounde.
But the Spanish giants are now pressing for the £68m fee in the defender’s release clause.
The west Londoners, though, were handed a boost following the £25m transfer of Kurt Zouma to West Ham
    DIALL TONE
Amad Diallo’s Feyenoord loan is in danger of collapsing.
Fabrizio Romano claims the young winger could stay at Man United this month after picking up an injury in training.
Feyenoord are now ready to pull the plug and find another signing ahead of deadline day.

    AUBA AND OUT?
Juventus are lining up a stunning raid on Arsenal for captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
That’s according to Tuttomercato, who claim the striker has been identified as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
They add Arsenal are even willing to sell for just £20million.
And Aubameyang himself is open to a Turin transfer.

    DAM THAT RIVER
Euro 2020 star Mikkel Damsgaard is reportedly attracting interest from Liverpool.
The Sampdoria winger was in top form for Denmark this summer.
And La Repubblica claims Liverpool are keen on making a £26million move.
Leeds are also thought to be monitoring Damsgaard too.
    MOUR GLORY
Former Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho believes Crisitano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford is ‘perfect business’ for all parties involved.
The Roma manager gushed: “The only thing I say – and it looks to me something basic and logic – is that if Juventus are happy, if Cristiano is happy and if Manchester United are happy this is the perfect business.
“I think there is no need to talk about Cristiano.
“There is no need to make any comment about someone who plays, wins, scores and makes history for 20 years.”
    OLE ON RONNY
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking to Manchester United club reporter Stewart Gardner ahead of today’s clash against Wolves.
The Norwegian manager was quizzed about the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, and is hoping the paperwork can be ‘finalised’ in preparation for an official announcement.
He said: “Of course the fans have been excited for the last couple of days, we all are of course.
“He has had such a great career and he has been here before. Hopefully we can just finalise the paperwork and announce it. He is going to give everybody a boost, of course.
“I played with him, he’s a great player, he is a top human being, he is a top professional, so he will give everybody in the squad and everybody around the club a buzz.”
    MOR SETBACK
Tottenham have been dealt a significant setback in their pursuit of Barcelona star Ilaix Moriba.
Moriba has attracted interest from Spurs and they were thought to be close to agreeing a transfer.
But he has instead agreed a five-year deal with RB Leipzig, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer guru claims Moriba has agreed a pre-contract deal, and will move to the German side in June 2022.
    CAL CALL
Callum Hudson-Odoi could be set for a loan spell away from Stamford Bridge.
According to Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund are keen to sign the 20-year-old on a temporary deal.
The winger has started just eleven times under Thomas Tuchel and has been used at wing-back, rather than his preferred wing position.
And now Tuchel’s former club Dortmund are eyeing a swoop for the youngster, with the German club in need of a winger to replace Jadon Sancho after his £73million move to Manchester United.
    HAALAND UPDATE
Erling Haaland will NOT leave Borussia Dortmund this transfer window.
The Norwegian superstar has been linked with a move to PSG should Kylian Mbappe leave for Real Madrid.
But now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed PSH have known for ‘weeks’ that Haaland is not for sale in the closing days of the transfer window.
And Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc said: “We are a football club and not a bank. Our position is very clear and did not change.”

    IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
PSG have been handed an ultimatum to accept Real Madrid’s £154million offer for Kylian Mbappe, according to reports.
If they do not succeed in this window, Real can set up a pre-agreement in January to sign Mbappe as a free agent at the end of the season.
Therefore PSG must decide whether or not to accept a deal worth an initial £145.6m plus £8.6m in add-ons.
According to French outlet Le Parisien, the Ligue 1 side have been told to confirm their choice on Sunday or risk Madrid pulling out of the move.
Mbappe however IS in the PSG squad for tonight’s Ligue 1 clash against Reims.

    HWANG INBOUND
RB Leipzig striker Hee-chan Hwang has landed in the UK to undergo a medical with Wolves, according to Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old South Korean striker scored just three goals in 29 appearances for the German side last season but is set to seal a move to the Premier League.
He will initially sign on loan with the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season for £13million.

    DENNIS DECISION
Torino have approached Leicester regarding the signature of midfielder Dennis Praet.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano the Foxes will now decide whether to move the Belgian on or keep him at the Kingpower Stadium.
The 27-year-old has been capped 13 times by Belgium and has made 60 appearances for Leicester since his £17million move from Anderlecht in 2019.
    DIALL-OAN
Amad Diallo is set for a season in the Netherlands after a deal was struck to send the Manchester United winger on loan to Feyenoord.
A move to the Dutch club will go ahead when Diallo gives his consent, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Sheffield United had been linked with a move for the youngster, along with Crystal Palace and Basel.
The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho have knocked Diallo down in the pecking order after he made eight appearances last season, but Ole Gunnar Solskajer remains ‘excited’ about the future of the 19-year-old winger.
    Getty Images
    SANTIAGO SIGNING
Newcastle are ‘close’ to signing Santiago Munoz from Mexican side Santos Luguna according to Mark Douglas.
The 19-year-old was withdrawn from the Mexican league’s all-star match as rumours continue to circulate about his future.
A fee has reportedly been agreed for Munoz’s services, but there are fears a work permit won’t be secured in time for deadline day on Tuesday.
Munoz has scored three goals and provided three assists in the Mexican top division so far this season.
    DAVID DEAL
Leicester City are interested in signing Ajax winger David Neres.
According to Ajax showtime the 24-year-old is expected to leave the Dutch giants before the end of the transfer window.
And Brendan Rodgers is said to be a fan of the winger.
The Brazilian was reportedly close to join French side Lyon earlier this summer, but now the Foxes are said to have hijacked the deal.

    IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Crystal Palace have made a £15million bid for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.
According to the Daily Mail the Eagles have submitted an offer, but the Glaswegians are holding out for a higher fee.
The 23-year-old is into the final year of his contract and the Hoops may be forced to cash in before losing him on a free next summer.
Bordeaux and Rubin Kazan are already said to have made approaches for the Frenchman’s services.
    Getty Images
    COUT IN THE COLD
Barcelona continue to leave Lionel Messi’s No10 shirt vacant despite reports the number had been entrusted with Philippe Coutinho.
The Argentine superstar’s exit to Paris Saint-Germain led to calls to retire the shirt, which would be unlikely under LaLiga rules.
It had been reported that Coutinho had been offered the No10 shirt, despite rumours of the Brazilian being available for transfer.
But the midfielder was still assigned his previous No14 jersey when the squad was announced for Sunday’s game with Getafe.
To make matters even more confusing, Coutinho is the only player listed without a number on the club’s official website.

    VLAS MEDICAL
According to claretandhugh Nikola Vlasic is due to undergo a West Ham medical tomorrow.
That would take West Ham’s spending to over £50million following Kurt Zouma’s £26million move to the London Stadium.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has been capped 26 times by Croatia.
    ANOTHER ONE
West Ham are in talks to sign Nikola Vlasic from CSKA Moscow.
According to journalist Jacob Steinberg via Fabrizio Romano a fee of around £25million is close to being agreed.
Romano has also revealed that the Hammers have not progressed with a deal for Jesse Lingard.
But if the deal for Vlasic can be sealed it will have been a productive end to the transfer window for David Moyes’ side.

    GUNNER GO FOR HIM
As reported this morning, Juventus are interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
That would mean the Gunners having to add some firepower up front, with Divock Origi linked with a move to North London to Liverpool.
According to the Express Arsenal could make a move for the out of favour 26-year-old.
The Belgian international is yet to play a single minute in the Prmeier League so far this campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
    Getty Images
    MESSI’S MOMENT?
Mauricio Pochettino could hand Lionel Messi his Paris Saint-Germain debut TONIGHT after including the striker in his squad to face Reims.
The 22-man squad means two players must be left off the nine-man bench, so Pochettino may yet decide to leave the striker’s debut until after the international break.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the coach insisted: “We need to analyse and we will decide later.
“[Messi] is very motivated. He’s a great professional who is adapting very fast to his new team-mates and to a new context.
“He has the capacity to adapt to a new league.”
    CALLING NORMANN
Norwich have reached an agreement with Russian side Rostov for the signing of midfielder Mathias Normann.
According to Norwegian outlet VG a loan deal with an obligation to buy the Norwegian international for around £14million has been agreed.
The Canaries now need to finalise personal terms with the 25-year-old, but that is not expected to be an issue.
Daniel Farke’s side have beaten Newcastle to Normann’s signing, with the Magpies also reportedly interested in a deal for the midfielder.
    DWIGHT DEAL
Maxwel Cornet’s £15million arrival at Turf Moor could see Dwight McNeil heading for the exit door.
According to reports Everton are interested in a £25million deal for the Burnley man, with Aston Villa also keen on a move.
And former Burnley goalkeeper has urged Villa to make the signing.
He told footballinsider: “McNeil is a top player.
“I have watched him a lot at Burnley and I know that he is rated very highly by everyone at the club.
“Villa would do well to get him out of Burnley because I know how much they rate him.
“His delivery is excellent and as a young player he has bundles of potential. I still think his best is to come.
“He would be a great signing for Villa, but I think it would take a big bid to test Burnley’s resolve.”
    CALLING A CAB
Sheffield United have opened talks with keeper Willy Caballero about a return to English football.
Argentine Caballero, 39, is a free agent after leaving Chelsea and previously played for Manchester City.
The Blades have just sold Aaron Ramsdale to Arsenal and are looking for a replacement.
Their first choice, QPR’s Seny Dieng, may be too expensive.
The R’s shot-stopper was also targeted by West Ham and Crystal Palace earlier this year.
    ROON ON RON
Wayne Rooney has spoken on Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford.
Rooney and Ronaldo spent four years together at Ronaldo, and won the Champions League together in 2008.
And he has told talkSPORT: “For the fans it will be great to see Cristiano back, it’s very exciting for everyone at the club,
“And for his teammates, too, for some of those young lads in the dressing room, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, some of these young lads who have grown up watching him play at Old Trafford.
“For them it would be a massive help, I’m sure. He’ll bring his mentality to the club.
“He’s still one of the best players in the world, so I think it’s a very good signing.”
    RON REASONS
The Glazers re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo to appease Manchester United fans following criticism of the club owners, Gary Neville has claimed.
The 46-year-old told Sky Sports: “The Glazers have done what they normally do when they get put under pressure.
“They make two or three signings and basically, it shuts people up.
“I think there are deep-rooted issues at United.
“They couldn’t let Ronaldo go to Manchester City. They’ve had it in the past with the likes of [Alexis] Sanchez when he was going to Man City and they stepped in.
“They had to step in at this point, whether they wanted to or not is another matter. No Man United fan can complain with the three players they’ve got this summer.”

    READY FOR A TRIP
Manchester United have rekindled their interest in Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier, who was previously linked with Arsenal.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim that United may not be done yet after signing Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo during a very busy summer transfer window.
However, it seems like the Red Devils will only make a move if right-back Diogo Dalot exits before deadline day.
Dalot has attracted interest from Borussia Dortmund but it seems like he will still be at Old Trafford at August 31, when the transfer window slams shut
    SPECIAL RON
Roma manager, and former Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho had little to say about Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford.
Mourinho worked with Ronaldo for three years after the Portuguese coach took over at Real Madrid in 2010.
The former Chelsea and Tottenham manager said: “What I can say is basic, it’s logical.
“If Juventus are happy, if Ronaldo is happy and Man Utd are happy, then it’s a perfect deal – he has written history for the last 20 years.
“I have nothing more to comment”
    KLOPP ON ELLIOTT
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp explained he started Harvey Elliott in midfield due to tactical reasons ahead of the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Klopp said: “We had to change a little bit and wanted to change a little bit but then it’s about stability as well.
“It’s that period, before the international break, where there is no need for too many changes really.
“Hopefully the boys come back really fit and healthy and then we have games every three days; that’s different.
“But at the moment, the shorter pre-season, that’s how it is, Oxlade played, so it’s just like this, Hendo [Jordan Henderson] is back in the team… so it’s stability and of course football as well.
“Thiago had a short pre-season. We don’t just say thank-you to Kostas [Tsimikas], Naby and Diogo [Jota]. There will be plenty of times when we need them all”
    GETTY IMAGES
    FIRMINO UPDATE
Liverpool star Roberto Firmino hobbled off the pitch on 43 minutes after picking up a hamstring injury against Chelsea.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp believes it’s “not too serious” but Firmino will undergo a scan to discover the extent of the damage.
Klopp said: “Serious? I don’t know. Serious enough to take him off? Yes.
“Bobby felt his hamstring, came over and told us and we had to prepare the change.
“Bobby is nobody who raises the hand when he doesn’t feel anything.
“It doesn’t look too serious but you never know before you have a scan and we will know tomorrow”
    TUCHEL ON KANTE
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed that N’Golo Kante injured his ankle once more against Liverpool and that is why he took him off.
Tuchel said during the post-match press-conference: “He is injured.
“He missed the Arsenal game because of pain in his ankle and inflammation.
“The opponent fell in his ankle, twisted it again, and he had the same pain as before the Arsenal game.
“He was lacking force to accelerate and we had to take him off”
    TUCHEL ON JAMES
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel described Reece James’ dismissal against Liverpool as a “double punishment”.
Tuchel said: “A double punishment is super hard and it’s a bit of a spoiler for the game. If the referee says he denies a clear chance, then it’s a red card.
“It’s a spoiler of the game, nobody wants to say that for 45 minutes. I’ve not solution now for it and no better idea. In general, it’s a spoiler.
“I can understand the decision and I’m not saying it’s wrong. I didn’t like the way the referee checked it because he was only shown the image. The image only shown the clear contact.
“I’d have liked a longer consideration. Maybe the decision stays the same. But I have to live with it. Some decisions stay with the responsibility in the moment”
    ZOUM CALL
West Ham have confirmed the signing of Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.
Zouma has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Hammers after a successful medical in Paris.
This opens the way for the Blues to sign Sevilla star Jules Kounde ahead of transfer deadline day.
The west Londoners are expected to use the profit from Zouma’s transfer to meet Kounde’s release clause

    TUCHEL REACTS
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel doubted the referee’s decision to send Reece James off with a straight red card after he handled the ball in the area.
Tuchel told Sky Sports: “The red card – I’m not even sure any more if it’s the rules or not the rules.
“You have to accept the decision. He maybe would have changed his mind with moving pictures.
“With pure will, resilience and team effort at its very best. Never lose the shape, try to close the half spaces.
“We decided to stay active in the back five because of all the runs in half spaces, the fluid runs from Liverpool and their high full-backs.”
    FERDINAND PRAISE
Manchester United hero Rio Ferdinand has praised the club’s hierarchy for moving fast to hijack Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester City.
Ferdinand told FIVE : “One thing I have to say is that the Man United hierarchy, when they needed to move there was no looking back. They performed, I must say, perfectly at every step, every point.
“There was no looking over their shoulder, there was no hesitancy about it.
“You have to understand that when someone like Ronaldo comes on the scene and there is an opportunity for him to come to a football club and continue his legacy and continue his history at this football club, if Man United had let that slip through their fingers, and for him to have gone across the city to the other side, you would have had to have had security 24/7 around the clock at the stadium, let alone the houses of some of the people involved in that.
“Listen, there has been a lot of criticism that has been pointed at different people in the hierarchy at Manchester United at whatever period of time it is”
    GETTY IMAGES
    RONALDO DEBUT
Cristiano Ronaldo is on his way back to Manchester United for a stunning homecoming.
Ronaldo will obviously play no part tomorrow against Wolves at Molineux, which means United fans will have to wait until after the international break to see the five-time Ballon d’Or winner back in action.
Therefore, the Portugal international is most likely to debut on September 11 against Newcastle at Old Trafford.
It will take a while, but the wait will be worth it
    FT: LIVERPOOL 1-1 CHELSEA
Liverpool and Chelsea drew 1-1 at Anfield in a rather dramatic encounter.
The Blues opened the scoring on 22 minutes with a sensational header by Kai Havertz.
But the Reds equalised in the fifth minute of stoppage time with Mohamed Salah’s penalty kick shortly before half-time.
The Merseysiders earned the spot-kick after Reece James was deemed to have handled the ball inside the area and was penalised with a straight red card.
But a spirited 10-man Chelsea managed to hold on for a point at Anfield
    CR7 AGAIN
Manchester United hero Rio Ferdinand has hinted that Edinson Cavani may have given up his No7 shirt for the returning Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo is set to return to United where he donned the iconic jersey number during his first spell at Old Trafford between 2003 and 2009.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube show, Ferdinand said: “Just to think Cavani could be the back-up for Ronaldo, it’s unbelievable.
“Cavani, I have to say, what a man! He saw who was coming to town and gave up the No7 shirt”
    KOUNDE BOOST
Chelsea have been handed a transfer boost in their bid to sign Jules Kounde, who has told Sevilla of his desire to leave.
That is because the Rojiblancos have not taken Kounde to Elche for Saturday’s LaLiga encounter.
Should the deal fall through, the Blues may pull the plug on Kurt Zouma’s switch to West Ham.
SunSport revealed that a medical has already taken place in Paris for Zouma’s move to the Hammers.
But the west Londoners may not allow the £26million transfer to take place if Kounde does not arrive to replace his fellow Frenchman
    GETTY IMAGES
    KOU D’ETAT
Sevilla are reportedly demanding that Chelsea increase their transfer offer for Jules Kounde if they want to sign the star defender.
Kounde remains the Blues’ top target ahead of transfer deadline day.
A deal worth around £43million is said to have been agreed between the two clubs but the Andalusians could now press for a further £25m.
The centre-back’s release clause is set at £68.5m and Sevilla are hoping to earn close to that figure if the France international leaves in the final week of the window, according to Sky Sports.
    HT: LIVERPOOL 1-1 CHELSEA
Liverpool equalised in the fifth minute of stoppage time when disaster struck for Chelsea.
Blues star Reece James was deemed to have handled the ball inside the area following a brief check by VAR.
That led to a straight red card for James and a penalty kick that Mohamed Salah converted.
The west Londoners were livid after the decision with players from both sides arguing and yellow cards flying all over the place
    PEP TALK
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola broke his silence after the reigning Premier League champions missed out on Cristiano Ronaldo, who returned to rivals Manchester United.
Guardiola told BT Sport: “I don’t think frustrated is the right word.
“We have an exceptional squad and we have improved to have the best possible team to compete.
“It’s good that a player like Cristiano Ronaldo is back in England for the Premier League and it’s good news”
    LIVERPOOL 0-1 CHELSEA
Chelsea have opened the scoring at Anfield with Kai Havertz!
Reece James whipped in a corner-kick that was met by a brilliant header from Havertz on 21 minutes.
Liverpool goalkeeper Allison could do nothing to prevent the Blues’ opener.
    Advantage Chelsea!

    LIVERPOOL 0-0 CHELSEA
Liverpool and Chelsea are underway at Anfield in what poses as the biggest Premier League match of the week.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp opted for the following XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Elliott, Salah, Firmino, Mane.
Whereas Blues manager Thomas Tuchel chose the following line-up: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, James, Jorginho, Kante, Alonso, Mount, Havertz, Lukaku.
    This game promises immense action!

    HAALAND REMINDER
Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland to replace Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a staggering £154million deal with PSG for Mbappe, whose contract runs out next year and he has refused to extend his stay in Paris.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the Ligue 1 giants are believed to have contacted Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola over the possibility of a move before August 31, when the transfer window slams shut.
But a deal will be difficult to complete at this late stage and negotiations between PSG and Dortmund have yet to begin
    GETTY IMAGES
    KOUNDE REPLACEMENT BEING SOUGHT
Sevilla are in talks with Lille over a deal for Sven Botman.
The Dutchman is their preferred replacement for Jules Kounde if he is to join Chelsea.
Wolves have had a bid rejected for Botman as they try to bring him to Molineux; they remain interested but whether they will make another offer remains to be seen.
    PEP’S SATISFIED
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insisted he was satisfied with his squad, despite missing out on signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
After City beat Arsenal he said: “We are the same that we have done the last two or three years in the past, maybe people forget everything that we have done.
“Always the club has to have the intention to get better, to improve, because the players change and this is normal, the manager changes, but the club has to get better, we cannot forget.
“The team was magnificent last season and is the same and with these players we are still going to go.”
When asked about the prospect of adding a striker this transfer window, Guardiola said: “No, I don’t think so.”
    NO DEAL
Tottenham’s interest in Adama Traore is up in the air after Wolves told them he is not for sale.
An initial loan deal with an option to buy was suggested but swiftly dismissed by the West Midlands club.
Spurs were subsequently told to forget the idea of signing Traore – but it remains to be seen whether they come back with a more concrete bid.
Sky Sports News reported earlier this month that he was high on their list of targets before the deadline, with boss Nuno Santo keen to work with him again.
    AMAD RUSH
Feyenoord are now joining the race with many clubs approaching Manchester United for Amad Diallo loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Talks are ongoing and Feyenoord are pushing but Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are still in.
The player’s camp will reportedly make a decision in the next few hours about where Diallo’s immediate future lies.
    JUVE MOVE
Juventus are reportedly eyeing Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic as options to fill the huge hole left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Man United return.
And the Italian giants look set to re-sign Moise Kean on a two-year loan with an option to buy the Everton forward for £17million.
Spanish outlet AS claims the Turin side are keen on Real Madrid striker Jovic, 23, who netted four goals in 23 appearances on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt last term.
Meanwhile, Marca reports the Italian outfit are also keeping an eye on Jovic’s Madrid team-mate Hazard with both having struggled for game time at the Bernabeu.

    MOR INTEREST
Tottenham have been told to pay £17million if they want to sign Barcelona talent Ilaix Moriba.
The teenage ace has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Premier League club.
Moriba only has one year remaining on his current contract and has turned down the chance to sign a new deal.
The Guinea talent has been sidelined by Barca since rejecting a new four-year contract.
His future increasingly looks to lie away from the club and Spurs are leading the race to sign him.

    WILL HE GO?
Willian will decide tomorrow if he’s to terminate his contract with Arsenal and return to Brazil, according to ESPN reporter Joao Costelo-Branco.
He reports interest in the winger from clubs around Europe, but claims Corinthians is the best option on the table currently.
That would present Willian with the chance to move back to his native Brazil after 14 years playing in Europe.

    AGENT BRUNO
Manchester United fans are enjoying quite the transfer window – yet are seemingly still not quite satisfied as they urge midfielder Bruno Fernandes to help get one last deal over the line.
In response to the Ronaldo news Fernandes tweeted: “Agent Bruno?, Welcome back home Cristiano.”
However, the tweet was taken a tad too literally by some sections of the United fanbase, as Fernandes were inundated with requests to sort a transfer between another one of his Portugal teammates in Ruben Neves.
United’s need for a midfielder in the traditional ‘number six’ role has been well documented, with the performances of both Fred and Scott McTominay leaving a lot to be desired.
Twitter quickly became littered with United fans barking their orders at both Fernandes and the club themselves to try and secure a deal for Neves before the window closes in just four days time.
    NEW DEAL
Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Lautaro Martinez to extend his contract, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The striker had attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham this summer but expressed his desire to stay at Inter.
Martinez scored 17 goals in 38 games last season and the news should be well received by Inter fans following Romelu Lukaku’s departure.

    CONFIRMED
Aston Villa striker Wesley has joined Club Brugge on a season-long loan.
The 24-year-old, who moved to Villa Park from the Belgian side in a the club-record deal two years ago, has been limited to just four substitute appearances since recovering from a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for nearly 16 months.
Villa hope the return to his former club, where he previously spent three seasons, can reignite the Brazilian’s career.
Wesley has made 26 appearances for Villa, scoring five goals.
    ‘IT’S FRUSTRATING’
Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has said it is frustrating the club are unable to compete with Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in the transfer market.
Manchester United are set to follow up the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane by bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club from Juventus.
Koeman said: “On the one hand I understand it.
“For everyone that wants the best for the club, it’s frustrating, I understand it. On the other hand, we have to be realistic. Economically, the club can’t compete with other clubs, with Paris, City, United. That’s how it is at the moment.
“We can’t demand what has been demanded before at this club. We have to understand the moment the club is in.”
    RONALDO LATEST
Cristiano Ronaldo will have a medical in Lisbon this weekend as he closes in on a sensational return to Manchester United, per Sky Sports.
Personal terms on a two-year deal have been agreed in principle.
    CR7 IS BACK
The Premier League claim Cristiano Ronaldo is Manchester United’s new No7 on their official website.
But the competition also has Edinson Cavani listed down as United’s No7 as speculation begins to rise about his new shirt number.
The Premier League have now added Ronaldo, 36, to Man Utd’s squad for the 2021-22 campaign and updated his player page.
The competition have listed the Portuguese forward as United’s No7 but are yet to strip Cavani of the shirt in a confusing update.
Man Utd haven’t announced Ronaldo’s shirt number and Cavani’s No7 jersey is still available to buy on the club’s website.

    AUBA NEWS
Juventus are not planning for a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Fabrizio Romano.
That is because they have tied up a deal to sign Everton’s Moise Kean on loan as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement.
And the Serie A side will now focus on extending Paolo Dybala’s current deal instead of making a move for the Arsenal captain.
    DONE DEAL
Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Will Hughes from Watford.
The midfielder had been linked to Newcastle this summer but he moves to Selhurst Park for a fee of around £6million.
He arrives in South London as Patrick Vieira’s sixth summer arrival, signing a three-year deal.

    HEE’S GONNA COME
Wolves are close to completing a deal to sign RB Leipzig forward Hwang Hee-Chan.
The South Korea international is set to join on an initial loan with an option to buy for more than £12.8m (€15m).
Hwang is scheduled to fly into Birmingham tonight and undergo a medical tomorrow morning once the final details have been sorted.
The 25-year-old has scored three goals in 29 appearances for Leipzig since moving from sister club RB Salzburg, where he scored 45 in 126.
    KEAN TO MOVE
Moise Kean’s move to Juventus is a done deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The striker is due in Turin in the next 24 hours for a medical after agreeing personal terms.
The initial deal is for a loan, with an obligation to buy, and the total value of the move will be about £17m.

    NU TALK FROM NUNO
Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo is remaining tight-lipped about Hugo Lloris’s future.
The Spurs goalkeeper became the club’s all-time record Premier League appearance holder when he played his 300th game at Wolves last week and impressed in a 1-0 win.
The France international, 34, is out of contract next summer and there is currently no word on a fresh deal.
Nuno did not want to discuss the matter when pushed on it.
He said: “I think what Hugo achieved is huge, playing 300 matches for a club. It shows a lot of dedication and loyalty and hard work. This is what we expect from all of us, hard work, and Hugo is not an exception.
“He’s playing fantastically and he needs to keep on going. Every one of us keeps on going and improving.”
    FOXES READY TO POUNCE
Leicester City are in ‘pole position’ to secure a deal for Ajax forward David Neres but are yet to make an official offer.
That’s according to Ajax Showtime, who say Leicester are the ‘most serious candidate’ to secure a move for the Brazilian.
They say that recent rumours about a potential move to Lyon are yet to turn into anything serious, and now Leicester ‘seem to want to put a stop’ to it.
The Foxes reportedly see Neres as a ‘desired reinforcement’ for their squad and are showing ‘concrete’ interest in making a move happen.

    BIG BUCKS
Cristiano Ronaldo’s £480k-a-week wages at Man United make him the best paid Premier League star by nearly £100,000… but he still earns LESS than Lionel Messi and Neymar at PSG!
The 36-year-old sealed a dramatic move back to United on Friday after he looked set to join rivals Manchester City just hours before.
The move will see him return to the Red Devils 12 years after leaving for Real Madrid and he now looks set to become the highest paid player in the top flight, overtaking the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Harry Kane and David de Gea.
Manchester City midfielder De Bruyne had been on the highest base salary in the Premier League, with the Belgian pocketing an eye-watering £385,000 while United keeper de Gea is on just £10,000 less than him per week.
    CR7 REPLACEMENT
According to AS, Juventus have identified Luka Jovic as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo after they agreed to sell the striker to Manchester United for £12.8million.
The 23-year-old striker – who joined the Galacticos in the summer of 2019 for £62m – has struggled to adapt to life at the Spanish giants.
Real are said to be open to selling the 23-year-old for around £30m this summer.
Should a deal for through, Jovic will be playing alongside the likes of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata – increasing his changes of rejuvenating his career.
    ROYAL BLUE RAHMAN
Baba Rahman is embarking on another loan spell away from Chelsea with Reading signing the out-of-favour Blues player.
The Ghana international, whose move has been hailed by Royals gaffer Veljko Paunovic, made his last appearance for the Stamford Bridge giants back in 2016.
His past loan stints include spells with Schalke, Stade Reims, RCD Mallorca and at Greek side POAK Salonika last term.
    CAN’T CALL SAUL
Chelsea pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez has collapsed just days before the end of the transfer window, according to reports.
The Spanish midfielder is thought to be reluctant to moving to Stamford Bridge because Thomas Tuchel can’t guarantee game time.
According to 90min, Chelsea were on the verge of agreeing a deal with Atletico before the 26-year-old rejected the Blues.
Saul is said to have wanted guarantees over his playing time with Tuchel already having several top midfielders at his disposal.
N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trevoh Chalobah and Ethan Ampadu are among those battling it out for CM role.

    AM GUNNAR GO
Amad Diallo will leave Manchester United on loan for the season after Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.
Reports last week suggested Atalanta want to take the teenager back on a temporary basis, and Sheffield United have also emerged as surprise candidates for his signature.
But Solskjaer refused to confirm the location until the deal has been rubber-stamped.
Speaking ahead of his side’s trip to Wolves on Sunday, the Norwegian told MUTV: “Yes I do [expect him to go out on loan]. It’s not 100 per cent signed but we’ve agreed.
“I don’t have to say which team it is yet, but we’ve found a place that Amad feels excited about and we feel excited about.”

    IDOLISING JOSE
Tammy Abraham says his ambitions at Roma are matched by manager Jose Mourinho, but says the Portuguese was not the sole factor behind him moving to the Italian side from Chelsea.
Abraham said of his new boss: “He is a big impact on why I’m here but going up I used to watch Roma so I’ve known about Roma for a long time.
“Rudiger has told me so many good things about Roma, and obviously Jose the manager he’s very successful, he’s very ambitious and passionate.
“I’m the same. It’s nice to have someone of such a high calibre being manager of such a great team.”

Here’s a quick snapshot of opinions:

    DANCING IN THE STREETS?
Here’s how Sky Sports announced the Red Devils recapturing Ronaldo.

    UTD ‘DELIGHT’ AT RON RETURN

    RONAL-GO
Cristiano Ronaldo is on the brink of a sensational return to Manchester United.
The 36-year-old was available at 20/1 to rejoin the Red Devils last week and 6/1 on Friday morning. But those odds have now plummeted to 1/12 after some frenetic activity in the betting market.
City were considered frontrunners for his signature after missing out on Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.
But reports suggest the Premier League champions are now completely out of the running at odds of 33/1.

    HOME RON – LATEST
Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of a shock return to Manchester United after a £21.4million bid was launched for the Juventus star.
Premier League champions Manchester City have pulled out of the running despite being tipped to sign the wantaway striker.
The Athletic state that Ronaldo‘s camp are in advanced talks with United over a deal, with a two-year contract mooted. Goal say it’s a done deal.
A medical in Lisbon is planned, as reported by the Mail.
And Sir Alex Ferguson has even thrown his weight behind the deal by contacting the player personally on Friday morning, according to MEN.
The forward, 36, said his goodbyes to his Juventus colleagues after informing coach Massimiliano Allegri of his decision to leave.
Allegri confirmed to reporters: “Yesterday Cristiano told me that he has no intention of continuing at Juventus. I am absolutely not disappointed. He has made his choice.”

    ‘DONE DEAL’
Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United is reportedly a done deal!
That is according to Goal’s Juventus correspondent Romeo Agresti.
Man City pulled out earlier today and a Red Devils return has now reportedly been sealed for the 36-year-old.

“My story at Real Madrid has been written. It’s been recorded. In words and numbers, in trophies and titles, in records and in headlines. It’s in the Museum at the Bernabeu Stadium and it’s also in the minds of every fan of the club.
“And beyond what I achieved, I remember that in those nine years I had a relationship of deep affection and respect for ‘merengue afición’, an affection and respect that I retain to this day, and that I will always cherish.
“I know that the true Real Madrid fans will continue to have me in their hearts, and I will have them in mine.
“As well as this most recent episode in Spain, there have been frequent news and stories associating me with a number of clubs in many different leagues, with nobody ever being concerned about trying to find out the actual truth.
“I’m breaking my silence now to say that I can’t allow people to keep playing around with my name.
“I remain focused on my career and in my work, committed and prepared for all the challenges that I have to face. Everything else? Everything else is just talk.”
    CHANGE OF HEART
Cristiano Ronaldo posted this on Instagram just ten days ago.
But with a move to Manchester United reportedly on the cards, it appears the Portuguese superstar has had a change of heart.
He wrote: “Anyone who knows me is aware of how focused I am on my work.
“Less talk and more action, this has been my guiding motto since the start of my career.
“However, in view of everything that’s been said and written recently, I have to set out my position.
“More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way that my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumours, as well as to their players and staff….
    BACK RON
Manchester United have offered Cristiano Ronaldo a contract after he held talks with former boss and ‘father figure’ Sir Alex Ferguson, according to reports.
The Red Devils’ hierarchy have made a late bid to hijack that move, which led to City ending their pursuit for the star forward, and thus an epic return to Old Trafford is very much on the cards.
According to Manchester Evening News, Ferguson reached out to the Portugal international on Friday when it seemed like he will be moving to the Etihad.
And it seems like the legendary coach convinced him to snub the Citizens and consider a long-awaited homecoming. United‘s board is now reportedly trying to bring the 36-year-old back and have even drawn up a contract.
Ronaldo and Ferguson go way back as the 79-year-old Scot was the one that signed the Portuguese superstar back in 2003 from Sporting Lisbon.
The pair went on to win a total of three Premier League titles, one FA Cup as well as the 2008 Champions League.

    BREAKING!
Manchester United have launched an official bid to sensationally re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo with a medical targeted in Lisbon.
The Old Trafford legend informed current club Juventus of his desire to leave after three years in Italy.
Initially, his agent held talks with City over a possible move but the Premier League champions ruled themselves out without making an offer.
Attention then soon shifted to United after their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – Ronaldo’s former team-mate – opened the door for a transfer.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, Juve have received an offer from United, who are ready to find an agreement.
With Ronaldo hoping to resolve his future immediately, a medical is already planned for Lisbon, the Daily Mail report.
    RON DECISION
With Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly heading to Manchester United rather than City, it’s fair to say this Red Devils fans may be regretting this decision.
Although it does appear to be this season’s shirt suggesting he’s bought the top and got Ronaldo printed on it just to burn it.
Make of that what you will…

    MASSIVE SIGNING
With Manchester United seemingly leading the race to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, this Red Devils account is pretty excited by the prospect…
Man City are said to have pulled out leaving the path clear for Ronnie to return to his old club.
Ronaldo to Man United will…— bring us trophies— possibly get Pogba to sign a new deal— inspire Rashford, Greenwood, Sancho, etc— attract more big names— take us back to the pinnacle of English & European football— send a message to the worldMASSIVE signing. #MUFC— UtdFaithfuls (@UtdFaithfuls) August 27, 2021

    HISTORY MAKER
Last season, Harry Kane racked up one of the biggest points totals in Dream Team history. After finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer and top assist-provider, the Spurs forward boasted a tally of 357 points.
Only eight players have achieved a greater season total in Dream Team’s long history. And right at the top of the list is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
In 2007/08, the Portuguese superstar amassed a frankly obscene 477 points – nobody else has breached the 400-point mark.
You may remember that season as the time Ronaldo first ascended to best-in-the-world status as he plundered 31 goals in 34 league games, breaking the record for most goals in a 38-game Premier League campaign at the time – a record that has since been taken by Mohamed Salah.
Mastering the role of the blistering inside forward from the right flank, the legendary No7 also scored three goals in the FA Cup and eight in a successful Champions League campaign for Man United, including a famous header in the final against Chelsea.
Ronaldo finished the season with 42 goals from 49 appearances, eight assists, and more Star Man awards than you could shake a Ballon d’Or at.

    GUNNAR APOLOGISE?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Rio Ferdinand was ‘out of order’ for his criticism of Phil Jones.
Ferdinand said that Jones should leave the club as he has had too many injuries and is taking up a place in the squad that one of the youth team players could have.
Solskjaer said: “I think what Rio said was out of order, completely. I know more than anyone how it feels to be injured.
“Phil has had a horrible 18, 19, 20 months and was troubled for a year before that with injuries.
“Phil’s still not 30, but since I came here he has battled against that knee injury and put his body on the line in every training session.
“He has never done anything but give everything for the club and Rio, he should no better than to go out and say this.”

    BREAKING
Cristiano Ronaldo has told his agent Jorge Mendes that he wants to return to Manchester United.
The report comes from Fabrizio Romano, who adds that United are preparing a two-year deal for the forward, which will be sent in the “next few hours”.
Incredibly, he also claims Manchester City have never made CR7 an offer.
Cristiano Ronaldo told to Jorge Mendes he’s “open to join Manchester United” for incredible comeback. ED-DING OUT?
Rubin Kazan have made an €18m offer for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard, according to Sky Sports.
The Russians are proposing to pay the fee in three installments of €10m, €4m and €4m over 12 months.
Bordeaux are also willing to pay €18m for the player.
    PEP IS COY
Pep Guardiola did not give a direct answer on whether or not he wants to sign Cristiano Ronaldo but he did not move out a rule wither.
CR7 looks destined to return to Manchester, with both City and United set to fight for his signature.
Asked about the possible signing, Guardiola said: “Ronaldo? Another striker?
“I cannot say much so Harry Kane announces continuing at his club so exceptional club like Tottenham and Cristiano was a Juventus player, I think he is a Juventus player and I cannot add anything else.
“Only I can say I think there is three or four days left anything can happen but in my personal view there are few players, CR is included and Messi, they decide where they are going to play.
“They lead in the negotiations and right now that is my feeling I am more delighted with the squad I have and we will say the same.”
    DEENEY UPDATE
Watford have just released a statement about Troy Deeney’s future at Vicarage Road, saying that discussions are taking place between both parties to find a solution:
“Troy Deeney and senior Watford FC officials are currently discussing the best options for both parties for the season ahead.
“The striker has one year left on his current Hornets’ deal, and has featured twice from the bench so far this year during this, his 12th season at Vicarage Road.
“Given the significant mutual respect between the club captain and the Board, these discussions shall remain private and confidential.
“Neither the Board nor Head Coach Xisco Muñoz will offer further comment on this matter until a final decision has been reached.”

    RON HIS WAY BACK?
Manchester United have been in direct contact with Jorge Mendes since yesterday night for Cristiano Ronaldo comeback, according to Fabrizio Romano.
United are now said to be “seriously interested” in the forward along with rivals City.
And the United hierarchy are now seeking to do a deal with Juventus, with a transfer fee to be agreed.
Personal terms will also need to be confirmed before a potential glorious return to Old Trafford.

    BREAKING
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opened the door for a Cristiano Ronaldo return to Manchester United.
The Norwegian sang the forward’s praises before hinting at a possible move.
He also revealed that Ronaldo’s international team-mate, Bruno Fernandes, has been in touch with the Juventus star.
Solskjaer said: “I didn’t think Cristiano was going to leave Juventus. But if ever he is going to move away from Juventus he knows we are here.
“We’ve always had a good communication, Bruno has been talking to him as well. He knows how we feel about him.
“He is a legend of this club, the greatest players of all time if you ask me. So let’s see what happens with him.”

    ‘LET’S SEE WHAT HAPPENS’
Jurgen Klopp has had his say on the prospect of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the Premier League.
And while he is excited to see CR7 in action, he is certain Manchester City are viewing the forward as a short-term option, given his age.
He said: “Cristiano Ronaldo to Man City? I watch that like a football supporter actually. Let’s see what happens.
“If other clubs can do things for this, it’s not a business for the future – it is for now and immediately – some clubs work like that.”

What is the domestic transfer window?

A domestic-only window – so transfer between English clubs – will remain open until Friday, October 16.
However, Premier League clubs will only be allowed to do business with teams OUTSIDE the top flight.
Signings made during this window will also be unable to play in the Champions League until Spring as the registration deadline is on Tuesday, October 6.
But there are still plenty of top targets that could be snapped up such as Watford’s Ismaila Sarr, Brentford’s Said Benrahma and Bournemouth’s David Brooks.

When did the transfer window close?
This season, the window opened on July 27 after the Premier League campaign was finally completed the day before on July 26.
Free agents who had negotiated extensions to their contracts were then able to talk to other clubs at this point.
The window remained open for 10 weeks, shutting for international transfers on Monday, October 5.
