I KNEW I would be asked for my thoughts on Monday night, but I have left it 24 hours in the hope I can be rational and constructive. Obviously, the defeat by Newcastle, when a win was required was hugely disappointing, but perhaps it was more than manor of that defeat.

With new attacking talent to blend with an already talented support cast this team and this manager will progress in 2022/23, of that I have no doubt.
That said we have to be realistic and accept that others, not operating such a self-sustaining model, like Newcastle will also be aiming to challenge the status quo.

What I do know is that we have a young manager who loves of club who can get behind, homegrown first teamers, that other team covet, on long-tern deals, and at stadium that has been rocking and united more so this season than in many campaigns.

Petit – who played under Arsene Wenger in Arsenal’s best era in modern times – admitted that Mikel Arteta’s team are closing the gap on the big boys at the top of the division.
He said: “They will qualify for the Champions League this season but they want to compete, not just on the European stage, because it’s important for Arsenal also to compete for the Premier League title.
“When you see the quality of Man City and Liverpool over the last few years. They have been so good and consistent.

Following their midweek clash with the Reds, Arsenal face Aston Villa on Saturday in what will be their third match in the space of six days.
They face a similar situation next month when they have to take on Chelsea and Manchester United just three days apart.
The pile-up has infuriated Arteta who sarcastically “thanked” top-flight supremos for giving Arsenal no respite in their chase for the fourth Champions League spot.
The Spaniard even suggested Arsenal’s heavy schedule will give United an unfair advantage as the race for the top four hots up.
But Arteta’s complaints received no support from Tottenham boss Conte who’s still reeling from Arsenal’s decision to cancel the North London Derby in January.
The Gunners requested for the Prem clash to be postponed due to a lack of available players who were out because of Covid and injury.
The decision left Conte fuming as he felt games should only be cancelled because of Covid – not for injuries.
And the Italian’s still seething from Arsenal’s ill-timed request that he reckons was unfair on his Spurs side.

Jordan Nobbs broke the deadlock with a superb chip on 73 minutes.

Evans doubled the lead one minute later and the Scottish international wrapped it up with two more to continue the Gunners’ bid for a record 15th FA Cup.
Spurs’ statement signing Morgan, who has won two World Cups, a Champions League and an Olympic gold medal, spent the afternoon wrapped up in the stands.
Morgan has been out of action for over a year due to injury and giving birth to her daughter, Charlie, just four months ago.

Sead Kolasinac’s dreadful pass let Son Heung-Min in to dink over Emiliano Martinez.
