Tottenham scout leaves club after leaving board furious by leaking transfer targets in live TV interview

A SCOUT has left Tottenham after infuriating club chiefs by revealing key transfer targets in a Colombian TV interview.Jeff Vetere, formerly of Real Madrid and Newcastle, left his bosses astounded after talking about players he liked and those the club were watching.

In a sit-down interview with Win Sports TV, Vetere revealed how a South American scouting mission saw Nacional goalkeeper Kevin Mier, 22, land himself on Spurs’ radar.
And the Daily Mail reports that Vetere’s conduct was deemed to be unprofessional by the Tottenham board.
A formal meeting was called to review his probationary period having only joined the North London club last September.
But before that process was finished, the 57-year-old resigned.

The report goes on to state that Vetere would have been told to leave anyway and his exit has been welcomed by many at Tottenham.
Vetere had been out of work since being sacked as Birmingham City’s director of football in 2018.
But his close relationship with sporting director Fabio Paratici saw him land a key role at Spurs.
Vetere is also said to have rubbed existing staff members the wrong way.

The scout said in the interview of the Nacional goalkeeper Mier: “I see a goalkeeper who does not lack anything to cross the pond.
“We are looking because it is our task to see who the best youngsters are for international football.
“Taking advantage of my stay in Colombia, I took the opportunity to go there (Nacional) and meet a goalkeeper who is important to me.
“I think he’s going to play for the national side soon.
“He has things, for me, they are not normal for a boy of his age.
“I was surprised by his confidence and his handling of the ball.”
Luton-born Vetere is more notable for his time at Newcastle.
The multilingual figure was controversial at St James’ Park, with the report claiming he contributed to Kevin Keegan quitting as boss following the signing of players he claimed to know nothing about.
Keegan was, of course, later awarded £2million for constructive dismissal by an independent tribunal panel.

Tottenham 2 Chelsea 0: Pressure on Potter reaches boiling point as Skipp and Kane fire Spurs to fiesty derby win

ANTONIO CONTE can count himself lucky to have missed his first win over Chelsea since getting sacked by them five years ago.A dodgy gallbladder would have been the least of the combustible Italians problems compared to his heart-rate and blood pressure as Tottenham secured a fractious victory over their fierce London rivals.

Midfielder Oliver Skipp set Spurs on their way with his first goal for the club in the 47th minute and Harry Kane sealed it with eight to go.
Three points cements their top four place in the push for Champions League qualification.
Tottenham boss Conte is at home resting up after surgery and assistant Cristian Stellini took his place in the dugout and retained his 100 percent record while stepping in.
This is Tottenham’s first win over Chelsea since November 2018 – Conte had only been sacked by The Blues four months earlier to underline how far back the miserable run goes.

Spurs are now four points ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle and ended a run of two tough London derbies in a week with maximum points having beaten West Ham by the same score previously.
In a bizarre match the performance of ref Stuart Attwell was among the main talking points.
The official showed Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech a red card at the end of the first half for appearing to shove Emerson Royal in the face, only to downgrade it to a yellow after consulting the pitchside monitor.
Attwell was also forced to come off briefly in the second half to change his shirt as he threatened to steal the show from a game which only really kicked into life in the second half.

British-record signing Enzo Fernandez tried to clear the danger in front of his goal but only succeeded in pumping the ball straight to Skipp and the Tottenham academy graduate smashed home a shot from the edge of the area.
And in the 82nd minute Tottenham sealed a memorable win from a set-piece.
Eric Dier flicked on a corner from Heung-Min Son and Kane was waiting at the back post to hook the ball home from six yards out.
Chelsea boss Graham Potter is now under serious pressure after yet another disappointing showing from his expensive team.
He made six changes from the side which lost at home to bottom club Southampton last weekend but got the same result – lack of energy and cohesion and a thoroughly deserved defeat.
Chelsea have now lost three games on the spin and won only one Premier League game this calendar year despite a massive investment in eight new players during last month’s transfer window.
They barely threatened Fraser Forster in the Tottenham goal and lost captain and highly experienced defender Thiago Silva to injury after only 17 minutes.
Potter’s team is now 14 points off the top four and they have scored only one goal in the last six games.

The Nike boots have “ALL TIME TOP SCORER” inscribed on them along with the date – “05.02.2023”.
That is the date that he broke Jimmy Greaves’ long-standing record.
On the heel of the boots is also the number 267, the number of goals he has scored for Spurs.
Kane netted the landmark goal in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Manchester City earlier this month.

Greaves’ record had stood for 53 years.
Tottenham fans loved the picture on social media as one tweeted: “The king 👑 BIG H 🤍💙.”
A second wrote: “Boots are ready, let’s go.”
    A third commented: “Cool.”

A fourth said: “Making it 268 today.”
While a fifth added: “That’s cold, not going to lie.”
After breaking the record, Kane said: “It’s hard to put into words and I’m so glad it came in a win.
“There has been so much talk about it in the last couple of weeks and to do it in such a big game is even more special.
“It is a great feeling. When I started playing regularly it wasn’t even in my imagination to score 200 Premier League goals and I have a few more years left so hopefully there are more to come.
“[Jimmy Greaves] is a complete hero, one of the best strikers to play the game so to be in that conversation is special. And to overtake him is a huge moment for me.” More

The French stopper is approaching the end of his career at 36 years old, so Henderson being 11 years younger would future-proof the position.
Lloris retired from international football following France’s run to the World Cup final in Qatar.

Henderson’s performances caught the eye of Spurs, who are now interested in a summer swoop, according to football.london.
The 26-year-old would also count as a ‘Homegrown’ player for the club.
Although, he may not arrive at the North London club immediately as first choice, he would offer more quality as backup than Spurs stoppers Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman.
The goalkeeper is expected to make a permanent move away from Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Forest are expected to rival Tottenham for his signature, as they will also be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer.
The club did sign Keylor Navas from PSG in January but only on a short-term loan deal.
The Red Devils are also willing to listen to offers for Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire in a summer clearout, according to MEN.
To replace Martial, Tipsbladet have said that United have been linked with a move for Atalanta’s impressive young striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The Danish striker have been in good form for the Serie A side this season, scoring six goals in 19 league games. More

Vladimir Putin gives Russian citizenship to two Brazilian footballers including ex-Barcelona star

VLADIMIR PUTIN has given two Brazilian football stars Russian citizenship.Ex-Barcelona winger Malcom, who interested Arsenal and Tottenham, plus midfielder Claudinho are key men for Russian top-flight leaders Zenit.

Claudinho, seen tangling with Chelsea’s Reece James in the Champions League in December 2021, can also now get a Russian passportCredit: Getty
It’s claimed both former Brazil under-23 internationals wanted their new status for tax reasons.
But Zenit were quick to celebrate after the pair were amongst 38 foreigners granted citizenship by a special decree from Russian president Putin on Friday.
The Saint Petersburg club stated: “Everyone at Zenit congratulates Malcom and Claudinho on becoming citizens of Russia.
“We wish them the best of luck and many more victories with the blue-white-sky blues!”

Putin’s decision might be seen as a propaganda move, exactly a year after he launched his country’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
And Dmitry Khomukha, the ex-head coach of the Russian youth team, suggested the two players were motivated only by money.
Khomukha, who won 15 caps for Turkmenistan, is now boss of Russian third-tier club FC Kaluga.
Just before the duo’s citizenship was granted, Sport24 quoted the 53-year-old as saying: “I have a negative attitude towards the naturalization of football players.

“Especially in the current situation that the national team does not participate in the tournaments and the foreign transfer has nothing to do with football.
“Here the monetary interests of the players themselves play a role. Income tax will be reduced to 15 per cent, but now they pay much more – this is the main reason.”
Former Bordeaux hero Malcom, 25, was linked with Premier League clubs before joining Zenit from Barca in 2019.
And Claudinho, 26, switched from Brazilian top-flight team Red Bull Bragantino to Zenit two years ago.
