And according to beIN Sports reporter Tancredi Palmer, Mourinho has made his move.
But chairman Daniel Levy will have to loosen the purse strings a bit more with their initial £45m offer turned down.
Despite Roma’s struggles on and off the pitch this campaign, Zaniolo has been one of their standout players.

In total, the player has chipped in with eight goals and four assists in 33 games in all competitions.

He still has four years left to run on his deal at the Stadio Olimpico.
Spurs’ Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United are also believed to be sniffing around.
Ligue 1 champs Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with Zaniolo too.
The creative midfielder won his first senior cap for Italy during the 2-0 win over Finland in March 2019.

The Premier League opening day fixtures for 2020-21 have been revealed

He has gone on to feature five times in total, scoring twice.
Spurs are reportedly edging closer to signing Wolves star Matt Doherty for £15million.
The 28-year-old has been at Molineux since 2010.
Mourinhois said to have been particularly impressed with his performances with the Midlands side since they have been back in the Premier League.

Fans ask Matt Doherty to delete embarrassing 2012 tweet saying ‘I love Arsenal forever’ ahead of Tottenham transfer

TOTTENHAM fans have been left sighing after uncovering old Arsenal supporting tweets from imminent arrival Matt Doherty.
The Wolves defender has never hidden his allegiance to the red half of North London.

But that may create an awkward atmosphere when he puts pen to paper on a move to Spurs later this week.
Jose Mourinho’s side are forking out £15million plus add-ons for the 28-year-old, who has excelled at Wolves under Nuno Espirito Santo.
However, the signing could become marred by old tweets sent by Doherty while still a youngster at Molineux.

In one 2012 post, the right-back proclaimed to “love Arsenal forever and ever and ever”.

And that led to Spurs fans asking the Irishman to quickly erase his Gooner past.
Tottenham supporter Alex tweeted: “Yo delete this ASAP.”
One fan replied: “Might want to delete fella.”
Jim commented: “Tryin’ not to get mad at this.”

While Alfie optimistically wrote: “Eight years ago and he’s finally seen the light and is now joining the better club in North London, dub.”
Doherty bagged past Arsenal in Wolves’ April 2019 victory over the Gunners and admitted afterwards it was a dream to face his boyhood team.
He said: “I was a big Arsenal fan growing up, [Dennis] Bergkamp was my favourite player, I used to get the kits for Christmas.
“Even now, I look out for their results and now I get to play and score against them, which is unbelievable.”
    MATT’S OUT THE BAG
The player sent a number of tweets to show his support while on loan in League One with Bury.
In September 2012 he tweeted: “Yes I’m a HUGE Arsenal fan !”
Later that month he wrote: “Man I love Arsenal and btw Jenkinson is quick but Gervinho could of won it for us at the end but take the point tho.”
Soon after, Doherty confirmed his Gooner affection by writing: “I love arsenal forever and ever and ever.”
Naturally, Arsenal fans jumped on the episode for yet more ammunition to wind up their cross-city rivals.
One Twitter Gooner stated: “Forever in our shadow, please don’t forget it.”

And another joked: “Arsenal are every Spurs’ player favourite team.”
Doherty is set to replace Serge Aurier in the Spurs side when the deal goes through, with Evening Standard reporting on a valuation of £22m placed on the Ivorian.

Mourinho to give Ryan Sessegnon Tottenham first-team chance after rebuffing Barcelona and Celtic loan transfer interest

RYAN SESSEGNON will be given a shot in the Spurs side next season after Jose Mourinho reportedly rebuffed huge loan requests.
Barcelona and Celtic both came calling in search of a temporary move for the 20-year-old, according to The Athletic.

Sessegnon made a £25million switch from Fulham after they were relegated last summer but failed to have the desired impact in his first season at Tottenham.
The English youngster made just 12 first-team appearances after struggling with injury.
He saw the manager who signed him, Mauricio Pochettino, sacked and replaced with Mourinho in November.
Sessegnon is comfortable anywhere on the left-hand side and will be given more of a chance to shine in Mourinho’s starting XI in the upcoming campaign.

Spurs have had plenty of interest in a loan move for the highly-rated England Under-21 international.

Reports suggested he could be in line for a return to old club Fulham after Scott Parker’s side won promotion back to the Premier League in the Championship play-off final.
Sessegnon made his name at Craven Cottage after bursting on to the scene as a 16-year-old.
And his twin brother Steven still turns out for the West London side.

But the report states Spurs also fielded interest from European big-hitters AC Milan, Ajax and Bayer Leverkusen.
However, Spurs have got him on a strength and conditioning plan to try and bulk up and show he can excel under Mourinho this year.

The club are not thought to be entertaining the thought of letting him leave.
And he made a flying start to preparations for the new campaign after notching Spurs’ first goal in pre-season today.
Sessegnon bagged a goal after just six minutes in a friendly match against League One Ipswich Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham braced for Serge Aurier transfer bids after AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen eye up right-back

TOTTENHAM are bracing themselves for transfer bids for Serge Aurier after Bayer Leverkusen reportedly joined the race.
The right-back, 27, is also wanted by AC Milan in a summer swoop, according to Sky Sports.

Milan technical director Paolo Maldini confirmed his club held talks with Aurier’s agent last year while reports suggest they may make another move this summer.
Now Leverkusen have joined the race with Spurs thought to be open to selling the Ivorian if the right offer comes in.
Aurier still has two seasons remaining on the five-year contract he signed at White Hart Lane in 2017.
He arrived from Paris Saint-Germain for £22.5million but initially struggled for game time with Kieran Trippier the first choice.

Even with Trippier sold, though, Mauricio Pochettino was not convinced enough to play him but he got a better run in the side under Jose Mourinho.
Of his 83 Spurs appearances, 42 came last season including 33 in the Premier League.
But while it was a better season on the pitch, the Aurier family suffered the tragic loss of Serge’s brother Christopher, who was shot dead in July.
Should he stay at Spurs, he will continue to compete with Japhet Tanganga for a spot in the side after the young defender, who can play at centre-back or right-back, penned a new five-year deal.

Juan Foyth – another versatile defender – is another option but he was frozen out by Mourinho and could leave, with Leeds interested in the Argentine.
But Kyle Walker-Peters did depart the club as he made his loan to Southampton permanent.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg moved in the opposite direction on the same day.

Man City line up shock £40m transfer bid for Spurs star Harry Winks with Jose Mourinho willing to sell

PEP GUARDIOLA wants Manchester City to make a shock move for Harry Winks.
The England midfielder is facing an uncertain future under Jose Mourinho at Tottenham – but his old rival Guardiola is a serious admirer of the player.

    1

Pep Guardiola wants Manchester City to make a shock move for Harry Winks
Winks, 24, signed a new five-year contract with Spurs only last summer under Mauricio Pochettino.
But the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton is likely to see his first-team chances limited next term.
Spurs are always reluctant to sell to big-six rivals but Mourinho is desperate to make more signings to put his own stamp on his squad and knows he needs to sell if there are to be any significant signings.
Winks is believed to be one valuable asset who could be allowed to go, if Spurs attract a bid in excess of £40million.

Despite Mourinho’s problems with £56m club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele, it is highly unlikely that the Frenchman would attract a bid for anything like the sum Spurs paid to sign him from Lyon last summer.
Winks is seen as a Spanish-style midfielder, excellent in possession, and regarded as ‘very much a Pep player and not a Jose player’.
Guardiola does have decent options in central midfield but is said to be intrigued by the prospect of developing Winks to his full potential.
Winks was a regular starter for Spurs in the later stages of the season but the club fought hand to land Hojbjerg, despite stiff competition from Everton.

And the Dane has been lined up for the deep-lying midfield role held by Winks.
If Tottenham indicate they will allow Winks to go, there is likely to be strong interest from Spain and Italy.
But clubs from those leagues would be less likely than City to make a bid which could tempt Spurs to sell.
