Tottenham ‘leading Sam Johnstone transfer fight with Leeds and West Ham as Jose Mourinho eyes West Brom keeper’

TOTTENHAM lead the transfer fight for Sam Johnstone ahead of Leeds and West Ham, according to reports. The West Brom goalkeeper, 28, has been in fine form for the Baggies this term.

And ESPN state Jose Mourinho is lining up a bid to provide competition for Hugo Lloris.
The Englishman’s contract at The Hawthorns expires next year and the report adds he would be available for around £10million due to the Baggies’ probable relegation.
That has reportedly sparked interest from West Ham and Leeds who may also make an attempt at a cut-price fee.
Johnstone may have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season but boasts an impressive record of five clean sheets and a division-high 120 saves despite his team’s struggles – earning him a maiden senior Three Lions call up for the March internationals.
Lloris, however, has been a constant between the sticks for Spurs, making 85 stops and ten clean sheets.
The Tottenham man enjoys a better save rate at 72 per cent to Johnstone’s 67 per cent.
The French World Cup winner is also being targeted for a transfer by former boss Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain.
Johnstone came through the academy at Manchester United but headed out on seven EFL loans.

He signed for West Brom for £6.5m in 2018 – with the Red Devils in line for a sell-on fee should the West Midlanders let him go this summer.
In nearly three seasons, the stopper has missed just one league game for the club, keeping 14 clean sheets in the promotion-winning 2019-20 campaign.
And it is thought he would make stronger, cheaper competition for Lloris than current No2 Joe Hart.
The 33-year-old moved to Spurs last summer on a two-year deal worth more than £52,000 per week but is an unused sub in every Premier League game this term.
As revealed by SunSport, Tottenham are also considering swoops for Johnstone’s Three Lions team-mates Dean Henderson and Nick Pope.

Tottenham flop Gedson Fernandes wanted by Marseille in summer transfer from Benfica to replace Olivier Ntcham

TOTTENHAM flop Gedson Fernandes has reportedly been chosen by Marseille as a replacement for Oliver Ntcham. Celtic star Ntcham has been on loan at the French side since January but is set to return to Scotland this summer after a controversial stint which saw ex-boss Andre Villas Boas reveal he didn’t want the player.

And Fotomac reports Benfica’s Fernandes, currently on loan at Galatasary, is the target identified to replace him in Jorge Sampaoli’s squad.
The storm surrounding Ntcham’s arrival saw ex-Spurs and Chelsea manager Villas-Boas resign in a press conference before he was then sacked by the club following the bust-up with the board who sanctioned the move without his blessing.
But Ntcham has fared little better under former Argentina boss Sampaoli, making just one appearance.
French reports suggest the ace will head back to the Hoops when his temporary move comes to an end at the close of the season.
And the report states Marseille are ‘unhappy’ with him and are already lining up Fernandes as a replacement.
Initial meetings are understood to have taken place with parent club Benfica who are thought to be open to selling the midfielder.
Fernandes has scored one goal in nine games in all competitions for the Turkish giants since arriving at the end of the January transfer window.
And it is not though to have been enough to convince Galatasaray it is worth signing him on a more permanent basis.

Spurs cancelled Fernandes’ 18-month loan deal early at the beginning of the year after he failed to live up to the hype with no goal involvements in 14 appearances.
Tottenham had an option to buy the star last summer for £42million but turned down the move with Fernandes never starting a Premier League game during his time in North London.
Benfica immediately shipped him out on loan again to Turkey but after contracting Covid-19, Fernandes had to fly out in an ambulance jet to get the deal done in time.

Barcelona could launch Harry Kane transfer bid if Dortmund refuse to lower top target Erling Haaland’s £154m price tag

Agent Mino Raiola and father Alf-Inge Haaland have flown in for talks with both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
But Haaland’s club will seek a fee topping £150million if they are to sell him this summer, with the 20-year-old’s £68m release clause activating next year.
That could turn Barcelona to a Plan B, according to Spanish outlet Sport, who name Kane and Lautaro Martinez as such options.
SunSport revealed last week that Tottenham will refuse to sell their star striker to a Premier League rival.
A move abroad is considered slightly more palatable, although the fee of £175m would have to be negotiated down.
These latest reports suggest that Barcelona will have to be inventive with player-plus-cash deals if they are to sign a star name this summer.

Targets such as Georginio Wijnaldum, Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia will all soon be available as free agents.
In contrast, Inter Milan star Martinez, like Kane, could command a nine-figure fee.
Previously thought to be a major target for the LaLiga giants, the Argentine is set to sign a new contract that would bolster his existing £98 buyout fee.
Martinez, 23, is the lowest-scoring of the three stars on Barcelona’s radar, although Inter are looking good to lift the Serie A title.
His 16-goal tally sits behind Kane (29) and Haaland (33).

The manager stated recently that speculation over the 27-year-old’s future is of no interest to him.
Mourinho, 58, said: “He is such a professional, committed with the team, performing well.
“I’ve nothing to speak with him about. He has three years of his contract remaining.
“Unless he wants to speak with me about it… and until now he never approached me in relation to anything.”

Toby Alderweireld ‘made Tottenham transfer exit offer by Club Brugge’ with defender’s future uncertain under Mourinho

But according to Voetbal 24, Alderweireld is wanted by Belgian champions Brugge.
The speculation comes as he was left out of Spurs’ squad for a second successive game on Sunday.
Alderweireld has played 27 times for the Lilywhites so far this season, 18 of which have come in the Premier League.
However, he is fighting with a number of players for a first team place.
Eric Dier, Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies are among those who have played as a centre-back for Tottenham this season.
And there have also been speculation that Spurs could be in the market for another defender in the summer.
RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer and Southampton’s Jannick Vestergaard have both been touted as potential options for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Alderweireld recently turned 32 years old and Spurs have a reputation for selling ageing players.

And it is not the first time The Special One has failed to land his man.
The report claims the Portuguese boss tried to sign Gutierrez as a 16-year-old when he was in charge at Manchester United in 2017.
Marca claims Gutierrez turned down Old Trafford in order to avoid disrupting his family as one of his parents would have had to move overseas with him.
Mourinho looks to have failed again with the player on the verge of the Madrid first team and keen to make his mark in the Spanish capital.
Gutierrez is still part of the academy system but has been linked with a move to Italy.
Both Juventus and Inter Milan are reported to be keen on the highly-rated youngster.
Left-back Gutierrez has not yet been handed a senior debut by boss Zinedine Zidane.
The Spain Under-19 international progressed into Madrid’s Castilla B-team ahead of this season and has made 12 appearances.

Real president Florentino Perez is adamant that the side’s best young players should not be poached.
And Gutierrez is believed to be in Zidane’s thinking going forward.

A return to Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain or Nice has been reported and now L’Equipe detail a potential move to Manchester.
Lloris is in his ninth season at Tottenham but is yet to win a trophy, although he will get a fresh chance in the upcoming Carabao Cup final.
SunSport recently revealed the club’s plans to replace club captain Lloris at the end of the season.
England trio Sam Johnstone, Nick Pope and Dean Henderson are understood to all be targets for Jose Mourinho.
United star Henderson is finally getting his chance in the team but may seek a move if he is once again dropped to the bench.

Man Utd’s biggest transfers ever, both in and out, including Ronaldo

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated his happiness at having the pair compete for a place on the teamsheet but the Spaniard’s high wages make him a very expensive substitute.
Lloris was vocal about Tottenham’s Europa League exit at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb last week, which he branded a ‘disgrace’.
Meanwhile, Henderson impressed as he kept a sixth clean sheet in seven against AC Milan – before conceding three to Leicester in the following match.
Also linked to Spurs if Lloris leaves is France national team understudy Mike Maignan, who plays for Lille.

As a result, he has not extended his contract, instead choosing to explore his options.
According to the Daily Mail, Celtic are set to conclude a pre-contract which will bring the forward to Scotland.
Tottenham and Arsenal were among those linked with the teen, who has five goals in 16 games so far this season.
Joseph has made a huge impact for Wigan since making his debut for the club in October.

He grabbed his first for the Latics in the win at Sunderland in December.
And he impressed the ever-increasing number of scouts by firing a hat-trick against Burton shortly afterwards.
If Joseph decides to move, the Latics will be entitled to compensation for the striker.
Rangers – on the verge of a first league title since 2011 – were also said to be in for the youngster.

Tottenham and Everton transfer target Lucas Vazquez ‘issues Real Madrid contract ultimatum as deal runs down’

REAL MADRD have been issued with a contract ultimatum by star winger Lucas Vazquez, according to reports.
Vazquez’s deal at the Santiago Bernabeu runs out at the end of the season and talks over a contract extension have hit a snag.

Real Madrid ace Lucas Vazquez has issued a contract ultimatum

According to ABC, the Spain international is asking for a four-year extension with a 15 per cent increase in his wages and wants it all to be sorted within this month.
The 29-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham and Everton in the summer, turns 30 in July and wants to seal the last major contract of his career.
If Real meet his demands then Vazquez’s annual salary would rise north of €5million-a-year (£4m).
But Los Blancos are only willing to offer a three-year extension and have to impose a 10 per cent reduction on all players’ contracts due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Club sources claim that Real can’t meet his demands when players like Luka Modric, Casemiro, Luka Jovic and Arsenal loanee Martin Odegaard have agreed to the same cuts ahead of next season.
That may prove a boost for Tottenham and Everton’s hopes of securing a deal of their own.
The versatile Spaniard, who can also play as a midfielder and right-back, will become a free agent if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new contract by the end of the season.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho and Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti were in charge of Real while Vazquez was cutting his teeth in the academy.
That could work as an incentive for the Real ace, who seems determined to continue playing at the top level.
Real manager Zinedine Zidane wants Vazquez to stay as he’s held a regular spot in his starting line-up this season, amassing 27 appearances across all competitions in the process.
