The Cityzens have made England’s Euro 2020 hero Kane their No1 target after being put off Erling Haaland.
That is due to Borussia Dortmund’s reluctance to sell until next year and £140m asking price.
Wantaway Kane has already told Tottenham he wants to leave but the North London side are determined to keep him.
And they are confident of doing that having slapped the huge £150m price tag on his head.
Guardiola only has Brazilian Gabriel Jesus and Spain’s Ferran Torres as senior strikers in his squad with 18-year-old Liam Delap currently deputy.
The City boss says they will not be held to ransom over Kane, who yesterday revealed he will hold further talks with Spurs after the Euros, or anyone else.
Guardiola said: “At the prices [quoted] we are not going to buy any strikers. It is impossible, we cannot afford it.
“All clubs are struggling financially; we are not an exception.”

He added: “We have Gabriel and Ferran who have been incredible in this position.
“We have young players in the academy and we play many times with a false nine.
“There is more of a chance we aren’t going to buy a striker for next season.”
City did launch a £100m swoop for Kane last month after being informed they were his preferred destination.
But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has made it clear he wants to keep the star and he has instructed new manager Nuno Espirito Santo to plan his team with the ace included in it for this season.

And the Benfica star could now be heading to London after an excellent season in Portugal.

The ex-Frankfurt hitman is believed to have a release clause of £50million in his Benfica contract.
But Spurs believe they could land Seferovic for half that.
Nuno, Daniel Levy and new sporting director Fabio Paratici are keen to ensure a top-class striker is ready to take over from Kane should the England captain force his way out this summer.
Kane has made no secret of his desire to quit Spurs and challenge for trophies elsewhere, with Manchester City hoping to strike a mega-money deal.
However, Kane opened the door to staying at Spurs when asked about potentially working under ex-Wolves boss Nuno.

How Brighton could line up next season with Dan James and Joe Rodon but no Ben White after transfer spree

The ex-Swansea boss is rumoured to be interested in working with Manchester United winger Dan James again.
The 23-year-old played 33 Championship games under Potter during the 2018-19 season before moving to the Red Devils for a reported £15million.
James featured just 15 times in the Premier League for United last term and could be persuaded by the promise of regular top-flight football.
Rodon was also a regular under Potter at Swansea during the 2018-19 campaign, playing 27 Championship games at centre-back.
The 23-year-old went on to join Spurs last October but, like James, struggled to get on the pitch, making just 14 appearances in all competitions.
Rodon could replace White in Brighton’s defence as he’s been rumoured to be on the verge of leaving the south coast.

Arsenal are the favourites to sign the England international but Chelsea are reportedly planning on making a last-minute offer for the player.
Rodon would likely partner captain Lewis Dunk at their heart of Brighton’s defence with full-backs Tariq Lamptey and Dan Burn playing either side.
Potter could continue with a 4-3-3 formation, deploying Adam Lallana, Yves Bissouma and another potential signing – Enock Mwepu – in midfield.
Brighton are interested in buying the 23-year-old Zambia international from Red Bull Salzburg, according to The Athletic.
Mwepu made 29 league appearances last term as Salzburg won their eighth consecutive Austrian title.

The English coach will be hoping not to lose star midfielder Bissouma, who’s been linked with a move to several Prem clubs this summer.
If James does swap Manchester for the seaside, he could play on the right of a front three alongside Neal Maupay and Danny Welbeck.
Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is likely to remain Potter’s No1 between the sticks having been included in Spain’s squad for Euro 2020.
The 23-year-old stopper has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent months, spending the 2019-20 season on loan at then League One side Rochdale.

Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici will not open Harry Kane transfer talks while England are in Euro 2020

TOTTENHAM’S bigwigs have reportedly put the brakes on Harry Kane move discussions whilst England are battling to win Euro 2020. And the club’s new football managing director Fabio Paratici had said he wants to retain the services of Spurs’ talisman..

Former Juventus transfer chief Paratici began his job this month which started with overseeing talks to appoint new club boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
Now the Spurs director, who describes Kane as “one of the best strikers in the world” is keen to see the in-form frontman stay in North London.
Kane, 27, who netted a brace during the Three Lions’ 4-0 Euro quarter-final demolition of Ukraine, has expressed his wish to leave Tottenham.

The England skipper, who will lead the line against Denmark in the contest’s semis, has attracted interest from a number of his current club’s domestic rivals.
Teams include Manchester United, Man City and two-time Champions League winners Chelsea.
Paratici, 48, told Sky in Italy: “Keeping him is not just my goal, it’s our goal as a club.
“I can’t wait to watch him play live. I’ve been really lucky in the past years because I’ve watched a lot of top players and strikers, like Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain, and many more which now I forgot about.
“Right now, he’s one of the best strikers in the world. He’s a complete player, really special.
“His physique is that of a real number nine, a true poacher, but he also has an incredibly refined technique.
“He is able to shoot with both feet and also provides many assists – very few people notice this because he scores so many goals.”
When asked if speculation surrounding his future was a distraction earlier on the Euros, Kane dismissed the suggestion.
The England captain told reporters: “I understand from a media point of view there is speculation, but I am fully focused on the job here.”

Kane, who is the 2020-21 Premier League Golden Boot winner, netted 33 goals in 49 games across all competitions last term.
His performances reportedly led Man City to make an eye-watering £100million offer for his services in June.
But the megabucks bid was reportedly turned down by Spurs officials.
And former Arsenal, Barcelona Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas reckons Kane would be the perfect Real Madrid replacement for Karim Benzema should the France ace ever begin “to slow down”.
The Spanish juggernauts, who finished second in LaLiga last term are thought to be admirers of the England ace.
Kane, who was born in Walthamstow, East London, has three years left to run on his current Tottenham agreement.
The striker made his first senior Tottenham appearance in a Europa League second-leg win against Hearts in 2011.

And the centre-forward has played 331 times for the club across all competitions netting 226 goals.
However, the striker, who spent one season at Arsenal as a youth player from 2001 to 2002, is yet to win a major piece of silverware with the North London outfit.
Tottenham, who finished seventh in the Prem last term, have qualified for next season’s Uefa Europa Conference contest.
And they were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City in last season’s Carabao Cup final.

New Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici is aiming to bolster his squad for the coming season, following Nuno Espirito Santo’s appointment.
And the Italian, 48, could look towards a star that he already knows well.
Paratici, alongside Giuseppe Marotta, brought Pjanic to Juve from Roma in 2016.
And according to Diario Sport, he wants to work with him again in North London.
They claim that he has already made an enquiry to Barcelona over taking Pjanic on a season-long loan deal.
But the Catalan giants reportedly want to get rid of him outright.
And despite spending around £51.5million on him just a year ago, Barca are willing to let him leave for free.
Barcelona are struggling financially, with newly re-elected club president Joan Laporta desperate to get players off the wage bill.

They are being crippled by Lionel Messi’s huge salary demands, but are desperate to keep the legendary Argentine, whose contract officially expired this week.
To be able to afford an extension, Mundo Deportivo claim that they are willing to give players away.
Barcelona have already terminated Matheus Fernandes’ contract, having paid around £8.5m for him in 2020.
And Pjanic could be next – followed by Samuel Umtiti.
The midfielder made 30 appearances for Barca, but struggled to get into Ronald Koeman’s side in the second half of the campaign – playing just 20 minutes of their last 14 LaLiga matches.
Umtiti, meanwhile, has struggled with injuries – but has made 132 appearances for the club since joining in 2016.
Barca are hoping to lower their wage bill by around £170m-per-year this summer, in order to keep hold of Messi.
They have been busy so far in the market, however, signing Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero on free transfers.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is struggling to persuade Insigne to commit his future to the club.

He’s played more than 300 league games for the club, winning two Italian Cups and helping the team finish fifth in Serie A last term.
Insigne has always remained loyal to the Italian side but has just a year left on his existing deal and reportedly wants a pay rise.
He is believed to currently earn around £82,000-a-week, with dozens of top Premier League players earning at least twice as much.
