Tottenham ‘accept £13m transfer offer for Toby Alderweireld’ as he closes in on move to Qatar

TOTTENHAM have accepted a deal for Belgium’s Toby Alderweireld to join Al-Duhail in Qatar, reports say. New boss Nuno Espirito Santo has sanctioned the sale as he looks to revamp his defence and bring in transfer funds to do so.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs have given Alderweireld the green light to leave, with the defender now set to agree personal terms.
He will then fly to the Middle East to complete a medical and bring a close to his six years at Spurs following his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
Tottenham are already pushing to sign Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero, who is subject to a £42m offer.
They have also seen an opening bid of around £13m turned down by Bologna for Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Antwerp were believed to have had an approach turned down earlier in the summer which could have seen ex-Ajax man Alderweireld return to Holland.
But Al-Duhail’s bid is said to be closer to the £13m that Spurs value the defender at, due to the two years left remaining on his contract.
Alderweireld, who helped Belgium to the quarter-finals of the Euros before losing to eventual winners Italy, made 35 appearances last season.

He was a favourite among former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho and even signed a new deal when the ex-Chelsea boss arrived in 2020.
But with Mourinho now gone, and Nuno at the helm, the 32-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements.
SunSport in early July revealed Spurs were willing to let Alderweireld leave in an effort to get his £100,000-a-week wages off their books.

Man City ‘willing to offer up FOUR players in Harry Kane swap transfer’ including Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus

MANCHESTER CITY are willing to offer up four players to help secure a swap transfer for Harry Kane, according to reports. As revealed by SunSport in May, the Premier League champions would happily use Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus as bargaining chips.

But according to L’Equipe, now Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva may be suitable candidates to head to Tottenham as part of the exchange.
It is understood City would only use one of the four disposable players in any potential deal with Spurs.
Kane signalled his intent to leave Spurs at the end of last season.
The England captain, 27, still has three years left on his contract so Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would only accept a mammoth offer.
Levy wants at least £150million but City hope a lower fee plus a three-time Premier League winner thrown into the package could be enough.
Pep Guardiola’s side saw their £100m bid in June rejected by Tottenham as the Spanish boss looks to replace the club’s all-time leading scorer Sergio Aguero.
Reports last week suggested Kane may even refuse to return to pre-season at Spurs in order to force through a record-breaking Etihad switch.
Chelsea are also monitoring the situation and could offer Tammy Abraham in a potential trade.
However, new Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo insisted his star man is going nowhere – and will hold talks with the academy graduate when he gets back from holidays.
The Portuguese said: “Harry is our player, period. No need to talk about anything else.

Tottenham considering transfer for Jose Mourinho’s Roma star Lorenzo Pellegrini but must stump up £26m buyout clause

TOTTENHAM are reportedly considering a swoop for Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini. But they will have to meet the midfielder’s £26million release clause to pry him away from old boss Jose Mourinho.

The Athletic claims Pellegrini has emerged as a target for Nuno Espirito Santo after he made Moussa Sissoko available for transfer.
There are also doubts over Harry Winks’ Spurs future.
And Pellegrini, 25, is seen as the ideal man to fill their shoes if they leave.
However, cash-strapped Tottenham will have to come up with £26m to trigger Pellegrini’s Roma release clause as he is one of their key players.
Pellegrini has been in the Italian capital since 2005 after joining his boyhood club’s academy aged nine.
He has gone on to score 20 goals in 151 games for Roma, while also taking in a two-year spell with Serie A rivals Sassuolo.
But new gaffer Mourinho will surely be counting on Pellegrini’s services after already conducting a fire sale in Rome.
Cengiz Under, Bruno Peres. Pau Lopez, Juan Jesus and Antonio Mirante have been moved on.

And first team regulars including Justin Kluivert and Pedro are also set to leave.
Meanwhile, Mourinho has made his first signing in Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka and Manchester United left-back Alex Telles could be the next stars swapping England for Italy.
And Mourinho could even attempt to raid old club Spurs for some of his favourites, with Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg linked.

Talisman and star striker Harry Kane wants away with Manchester City leading the chase for his signature.
But Spurs chief Daniel Levy is determined to keep hold of England Euro 2020 hero for at least another season and has already rejected one offer of £100m.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was another linked with a move away but the French star now looks set to remain No1.
However, the North London side are willing to sell a whopping ten men from their squad in order to raise funds towards a summer overhaul.
The Athletic state Spurs’ finances mean ‘they are almost in a position where they must sell before they can buy’ this window.
That means a number of players are available to buy.
For the second-straight year full-back Serge Aurier, linked with Paris Saint-Germain, is believed to be for sale.
Tottenham ‘would also listen to offers for Davinson Sanchez’ as well as fellow centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers despite him shining on-loan at Bournemouth last term.

As we reported last week, Toby Alderweireld could be another on his way and is mentioned in this fresh report after he allegedly informed Levy that he wants to leave.
Further up the park in midfield there may also be several departures.
Spurs are believed to have already made Moussa Sissoko available while Harry Winks is set to discover what his role will be under Nuno before the end of the month.
And even though they are determined to hang on to Kane, some of his attacking teammates may be due to depart.
Erik Lamela has reportedly also been told he can leave SpursCredit: Getty
Today’s report states Erik Lamela is already available for transfer and that Spurs ‘would consider offers’ for Lucas Moura as well.
Winger Jack Clarke is believed to want and stay to try and make a breakthrough under Nuno.
However, he has interest in England and from clubs abroad should he be told he is surplus to requirements.
And Carlos Vinicius, who spent last season on loan from Benfica, will not be returning as Spurs have focussed their attention elsewhere.

Tottenham close in on £15m Takehiro Tomiyasu transfer but still want Vestergaard or Skriniar after missing out on Kounde

TOTTENHAM are pushing ahead with plans to sign £15million-rated defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, according to reports. New Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo is eager to bolster the backline with fresh faces this summer.

Japan international Tomiyasu has been on the transfer shortlist since the arrival of Spurs’ managing director Fabio Paratici.
The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive season at Italian side Bologna and has been a mainstay in the team since joining in 2019.
Spurs fans will also get to see him in action during the Olympics as he looks set to represent his country.
According to the Athletic, Tottenham are finalising the transfer with the deal expected to go through.
Manchester United were also looking at the player but are preparing to play the waiting game with Raphael Varane.
Tomiyasu can also play as a full-back or in a back three, giving Santo more options in defence.
Spurs initially looked at Jules Kounde from Sevilla but the player wants a move to a Champions League club.

The report adds how the club will also look to bring another central defender to North London.
Southampton’s Jannik Vestergaard remains an option, as does Inter Milan ace Milan Skriniar.
Arrivals are likely to mean departures, with Serge Aurier and Toby Alderweireld set for the exit door.

Takehiro Tomiyasu ‘wants to join Tottenham’ with talks ongoing for Japan star but Atalanta threatening to hijack deal

TOTTENHAM are reportedly leading the race to sign Bologna star Takehiro Tomiyasu.Spurs had a £15million bid for the defender rejected earlier this month but are still believed to be interested.
Takehiro Tomiyasu has been targeted by Tottenham and Arsenal
And Tomiyasu wants to join, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer guru claims Tottenham are the only English club in talks to sign Tomiyasu, suggesting Arsenal are no longer chasing the Japan international.
Romano says a final decision will be made soon but does report interest from Serie A side Atalanta.
And unlike Spurs, the Italians would be able to offer Tomiyasu Champions League football next season – he would not have to move country either.
Bologna are believed to want £17.2m for Tomiyasu, 22, so it is up to Daniel Levy to offer up the extra cash.
And if he does sign Tottenham fans would have to wait a while to see Tomiyasu in action as he will represent Japan at the Olympics this summer.
Nevertheless, supporters will likely be pleased to beat rivals Arsenal to an important signing.

Spurs are yet to make a signing under Nuno Espirito Santo, who could want a new centre-back if he is to operate with a back five – as he did at Wolves.
Tomiyasu also holds the advantage of being able to play at right-back, so could slot in well as a right-sided centre-back between Davinson Sanchez and Matt Doherty.
Tomiyasu possesses good physical attributes with his speed and strength two of his main assets.

Danish Euro hero Damsgaard’s transfer price set by Sampdoria as Tottenham prepare to battle Liverpool & Juventus for ace

But they will have to fork out a big transfer fee if they are to prize him away from the Serie A side.
According to La Gazetta dello Sport, Sampdoria have set Damsgaard’s price at £34million.
It comes after the Danes reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020 before being eliminated by England.
And Damsgaard was a key figure in helping them make it to the last four.
The youngster netted the opener in his country’s must-win group game against Russia which they went on to win 4-1.
He then also scored a sensational free-kick in their semi-final clash with Gareth Southgate’s men, before eventually being knocked out after extra time.
Damsgaard was given his chance in Denmark’s starting XI in tragic circumstances after Christian Eriksen collapsed in their opening match against Finland.

⚽ ENGLAND vs ITALY EURO 2020 FINAL BETTING SPECIAL ⚽

The Inter Milan midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch in Copenhagen but was stabilised and subsequently released from hospital.
And Damsgaard made Eriksen proud by performing superbly for the Danes, guiding them to their first semi-final in a major tournament since they won the Euros back in 1992.
Spurs are interested in bringing Damsgaard to the club as they look to add to their squad following the arrival of new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Liverpool are also hoping to add some fresh faces to their side after a disappointing defence of their Premier League title last season.
Meanwhile, European giants Barcelona and Juventus will be wanting to be more competitive in the Champions League in the 2021-22 campaign as neither made it past the last 16 in the previous season.

Man Utd and Chelsea eye Joachim Andersen transfer in case they miss out on top targets with Denmark star to cost £25m

DENMARK’S Euros exit will kickstart the race to sign Joachim Andersen. The centre-back, who came on as a late substitute in Wednesday’s semi-final defeat to England, impressed while on loan at Fulham last season.
Joachim Andersen, 25, played for Denmark in their Euro 2020 semi-final defeat to EnglandCredit: PA
Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Leicester and Crystal Palace have all been monitoring his progress.
SunSport understands Andersen, 25, is set to be back in the Premier League come the end of the window, it is just a matter of which club takes him.
Lyon paid a club record of just over £25million for the defender in 2019 and would want their money back.
Tottenham and United have been admirers since Andersen played for Sampdoria in Serie A – and the 6ft 4in ace even visited Spurs back then.
Andersen was made Cottagers captain after just four games last season but could not prevent the West Londoners from going down.
The Danish defender began his career at Dutch side Twente and made his international debut against Luxembourg in October 2019.

The Red Devils have been linked with several centre-backs in recent weeks, including Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.
Spurs are also rumoured to be keen on Kounde, although reports suggest the player is not interested in moving to North London – potentially paving the way for Andersen to join.
Varane is United’s first-choice target – according to Sport Witness – but the Prem giants may move for Andersen if the France international proves to be too expensive.
The 28-year-old has reportedly given United ‘his word’ he will join the club this summer after a decade at Real.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already missed out on legendary Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, who’s joined Paris Saint-Germain.
