Tottenham to offer Harry Kane massive £100k a week pay-rise after denying wantaway striker Man City transfer

TOTTENHAM are ready to offer Harry Kane a £100,000-a-week pay rise in a bid to keep him out of Manchester City’s clutches. The England captain yesterday revealed he will NOT be leaving Spurs this summer after failing to engineer a move to the Etihad.

Now Cristiano Ronaldo’s camp are stepping up their efforts to get the Portuguese superstar a switch to City this week.
Kane, 28, said: “I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100 per cent focused on helping the team achieve success.”
Spurs fear Kane — who has three years left on his £230,000-a-week contract — could try to force through a switch in January or at the end of the season.
So they are preparing to offer him £330,000-a -week to try to keep him at the club until 2027, just before he turns 34.
But club chiefs know even that may not prevent him from leaving in his quest for honours.
Kane was hoping to leave in this window but after months of speculation linking him with City, made his first Spurs appearance as a sub in their 1-0 win at Wolves on Sunday.

He added: “It was incredible to see the reception from Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks.”
Boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: “It’s great news, fantastic for everybody. We are all very happy. He’s one of the best players in the world. We are all delighted to have more options.
“It says we are able to keep one of the best players in the world — this is important.
“All the players have to show this belief that together we can make good things.”

Kane is set to start for Spurs tonight in the second leg of their Europa Conference League play-off at home to Pacos de Ferreira.
And Nuno is unfazed by the prospect of the transfer saga returning.
He said: “I am not worried at all. It’s day by day, he’s an option for tomorrow. It’s the only thing, my only thought.
“Since Harry rejoined us in training he has been working and his attitude has been great. This is what we value.
“It’s an amazing club, we have a good team, we are in a process and we need everybody involved.”
As City saw their hopes dashed, former Manchester United idol Ronaldo, 36, continued trying to engineer a move out of Italians Juventus.
City have been cool on signing him since reports surfaced earlier this month and that remains the case.
But boss Pep Guardiola is now facing up to a season without replacing Sergio Aguero.
So it will be up to Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes to put forward a proposal which would tempt Etihad chiefs.

City made no secret of their wish to land Kane and were convinced he wanted to come.
But there was no way they were going to pay £150million for him.
With Spurs chairman Daniel Levy unwilling to negotiate, it was clear they could not hit a figure that suited both clubs.

Spurs boss Nuno coy on Harry Kane transfer future and admits wantaway striker may NOT play vs Pacos de Ferreira

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO hailed Harry Kane’s return to action – but still could not guarantee he would play on Thursday. Kane came on as a 72nd-minute substitute and travelling supporters sang, ‘He’s one of our own’ as the star went over to applaud them at the final whistle.

Their mood was lifted by Dele Alli’s early penalty winner at Molineux.
But asked if Kane would be back in Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off second leg against Pacos de Ferreira – with Spurs 1-0 down – Nuno was coy.
He said: “I can’t answer that. It’s too soon. Now we are going to recover and we assess the next morning, like always.
“He did well, he helped the team.
“He is still in the process of improving his fitness but he is one of the best in the world.”
The England captain remains convinced he had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Spurs chief Daniel Levy that he could leave this summer.
But the club is deadlocked with Manchester City over Kane’s potential £160million move.
And Nuno was delighted with the warm reception the homegrown hero got from fans on his first appearance of the season.
The Portuguese boss added: “I was pleased with the attitude of the fans.
“We have to be together. We have amazing fans and have to be thankful for that.
“He (Kane) is better today and he’ll be better tomorrow. He can still improve, we cannot put a bar on that.”
New Wolves boss Bruno Lage is confident his side are on the right track, despite a poor start to the season that has seen them lose two from two so far.

“I think we did well, the game stays in our hands for 90 minutes, they have two chances, two transitions, they have the penalty,” he said.
“We have 25 attempts to (try to) score one goal, In two games, we had 42 attempts and didn’t score one goal. I’m unhappy with the result but I believe in working hard… what we’re doing now gives me confidence.
“It’s not a question about little things, it’s just about scoring goals.”

Tottenham ‘reject £20m plus Corentin Tolisso player-swap transfer deal for Tanguy Ndombele from Bayern Munich’

And according to Sky Sports News, German champions Bayern have offered Tolisso plus an extra £20m for the want-away midfielder.
But, it is claimed Tottenham turned the deal down.
Ndombele, 24, will not feature in Spurs’ trip to Wolves on Sunday.
Despite being fit to play and taking part in first-team training, he also missed the games against Manchester City and Pacos de Ferreira.
Nuno said on Friday: “[Ndombele] was not part of the squad in the Conference League because he was not included in the list.
“But I will be honest with you, Tanguy will not be involved on Sunday.”
Ndombele, Spurs a club-record £55m from Lyon in 2019, but suffered rocky start to his career under Jose Mourinho.
But his form picked up last season, making 46 appearances, where he also managed six goals.
The Frenchman continued to play even when Mourinho was sacked and replaced by interim manager Ryan Mason.
But since Nuno took over full-time from Wolves, Ndombele has not been featured.

The new Spurs boss said: “What happened in the past I can’t even think about, I don’t mention out of respect.
“What I can tell you is that Tanguy is with us, he works but we have to speak honestly and to take the best out of Tanguy [it] has to come from himself.
“I don’t want to go much further than that but it has to come from himself. We already had a chance to talk but it must come from himself.
“I said it before, my job here is not to convince players to play for Tottenham Hotspur, it is to prepare players to play for Tottenham Hotspur.”

And versatile Milenkovic, who can play at right-back or centre-back, fits the bill perfectly.
He was previously linked to Manchester United and Arsenal before a move to West Ham was on the cards.
But according to Sky Sports, Tottenham hope to pounce after the Hammers switch broke down.
Milenkovic, 23, is into the final year of his contract with the Serie A side.
The 6ft 5ins Serbian ace came through the ranks at Partizan Belgrade before joining Fiorentina in 2017.
He has 127 appearances for the club and 11 goals – as well as 28 caps for the senior Serbia national team.

Extra reinforcement in the backline is a priority following Toby Alderweireld’s departure for Qatari side Al-Duhail while Juan Foyth made his switch to Villarreal permanent.

They have already splashed out £47million on Cristian Romero from Atalanta.
Tottenham are in talks with Bologna’s £17m-rated Takehiro Tomiyasu, although no agreement has been reached and Milenkovic would likely be cheaper.

They lost Toby Alderweireld to Qatari side Al-Duhail but did splash out £47million on Cristian Romero.
But director of football Fabio Paratici still sees the defence as a priority position to bolster.
And according to The Times, Torres has been identified as a target.
His release clause rose from £47m to £55m last season when he hit a threshold for international caps.
But Spurs may see if the Spanish side will accept a fee slightly below that.
Torres, 24, played a key role in Villarreal’s run to winning the Europa League last season, beating Manchester United on penalties.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET MAN CITY AT 7/1 OR TOTTENHAM AT 33/1
His fine form earned him a spot in Spain’s Euro 2020 squad.
He featured in all six games as Luis Enrique’s side reached the semi-finals – and then played every minute of Spain’s run to the Olympics final.
Torres was previously linked with United and Real Madrid.
But the Red Devils opted for Raphael Varane instead, unveiling the £34m signing at Old Trafford before Saturday’s win over Leeds.
And Los Blancos’ financial struggles mean they used the wages freed up by Sergio Ramos’ exit to fund David Alaba.
Quizzed about his future earlier in the summer, Torres refused to be drawn on speculation.

He said: “I have a contract at Villarreal.
“I just won the first title for the club, we have qualified for the Champions League and it is something that excites me a lot.
“Now I’m focused on the Euros. Then the Super Cup and nice things will come, so I’m totally calm.”

Arsenal and Spurs are reportedly set to face competition from Everton, Roma and Napoli for the highly-rated midfielder.
The Switzerland international has attracted plenty of interest this summer with a move from Germany looking increasingly likely.
Zakaria made two appearances for Switzerland at Euro 2020 including their quarter-final against Spain.
The 24-year-old was troubled by a knee injury last season and this could result in Monchengladbach accepting a lower transfer fee.
Zakaria only has one year remaining on his current contract and the German club could be ready to offload him before his deal runs out.
The defensive midfielder made 32 appearances for Monchengladbach last season scoring once.
Zakaria is reportedly stepping up his fitness levels in a bid to earn a lucrative move this summer.
