      CASTER SEMENYA flopped in the women’s 5,000m in what could be her last ever race at world level.On a roasting hot afternoon, the South African finished 13th in the first of two rounds at Hayward Field, Eugene, in 15:46.12 – more than 45 seconds off the 15th and final qualifying spot.

      The 31-year-old has won two Olympic golds and three world titles over 800m.
      But she is blocked from racing in her favourite event – or, in fact, anything between 400m and a mile – because of her refusal to undergo surgery or take testosterone-lowering drugs.
      Before the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, the inter-sex athlete lost her appeal against World Athletics and their gender eligibility rules at the Swiss Supreme Court following a CAS decision.
      Even though the 2023 worlds in Hungary are only 13 months away, there is a good chance Semenya may never appear at this level again.

      The 30-year-old landed on the back of her neck and slid down the crash mat when her equipment unexpectedly spilt in two in a “freak” occurrence.
      Bradshaw required medical attention backstage and decided not to jump in competition for fear of sustaining a serious injury – one that could have ruled her out of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

      OLYMPIC sprinter Leon Reid has been BANNED from the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after a security risk assessment.Reid was given a suspended sentence in February after being found guilty of allowing his flat to be used for the production of crack cocaine.

      The 27-year-old won a bronze medal in the men’s 200 metres on the Gold Coast four years ago, and subsequently represented Ireland at the delayed Tokyo Olympics.
      He had been named in the Northern Ireland team to compete in the same event in Birmingham.

      Barcelona’s legendary ground is set for a £1.2billion makeover, which will begin this month.
      The Catalan giants will continue to play at their natural home this season while renovations take place in the first and second tiers.
      But their third tier will be demolished next summer and the stadium will be unusable for a year.
      Their temporary new home, which is also known as the Montjuic, has a capacity of around 55,000.
