Crystal Palace set to miss out on Eberechi Eze transfer after refusing to meet QPR’s £20m demands

CRYSTAL PALACE are set to miss out on QPR’s Eberechi Eze after refusing to budge on their £10million evaluation.
Palace have seen a first bid for the highly-rated playmaker thrown back in their faces after they offered £8m with a series of bonus payments which will be tough to meet.

    1

Palace will have to fork out more than the £8m they offered to land Eze
The total package QPR rejected was worth £12m, but that was with a number of performance related top ups such as the team qualifying for Europe.

The Championship club thought many of the add-ons were unrealistic and have asked Palace to come back with a serious offer, valuing their star player at £20m.
But Palace have told QPR they do not think the 22-year-old is worth more than £10m as a flat fee – leaving the West London club with a feeling they are having their time wasted by the Eagles.
They have told Palace to only come back with what they feel is a serious offer, insisting Eze’s worth to them will be expensive to replace.

Eze himself is understood to be keen to listen to what Palace have to say, believing the time is right to make the step up to the Premier League.
But QPR have made it clear they will not be bullied into selling on the cheap – and hope interest from other Premier League clubs will start to drive the bidding up.

West Ham have made their interest known, but they need time to see what money they have available to spend and might not be able to bid unless they sell Declan Rice.
But they do have an advantage in the ability to offer striker Jordan Hugill in part-exchange.

An offer of around £15m plus Hugill would likely be enough to get a deal done.

Bury’s application for league place REJECTED as FA not convinced Shakers will be ready for new season

BURY FC’S application to be placed into a league this coming season has been rejected by the FA.
Football’s governing body told the Shakers — who were expelled from the EFL last year — it is NOT convinced they will be ready in time to start the new season.

One of the reasons the FA gave for rejecting the two-time FA Cup winners is the concern that the club do not have a first-team manager or players.
It is also unhappy the club are not currently affiliated to the Lancashire FA.
Yet SunSport has seen proof Bury have been trying to renew their Lancashire FA membership since April.
But the local FA had furloughed most of its staff due to Covid-19.

We also understand Bury have a former top-flight footballer who will help run the club, while current chairman Steve Dale will step down.
The FA said it will consider an application for the 2021-22 season — yet stated even if Bury FC meet all its criteria it can not guarantee putting them into a league.

Dale says he found £17million debt after taking over and agreed a company voluntary arrangement to repay a quarter of it.
But the FA insists that Bury must pay footballer creditors in full, thought to be about £1.5m.

The Shakers say this is impossible but if the club can survive they can pay a percentage.

Frank Warren offers to take Eddie Hearn for dinner as boxing’s matchmakers set for talks over Matchroom vs Queensberry

FRANK WARREN has ordered Eddie Hearn to leave his wallet at home and meet him for a red-hot date that will arouse British boxing fans.
After years at loggerheads as the country’s  leading promoters, the pair are  going to sit down and talk about two potentially brilliant fight cards.

Warren revealed his ten-fight plan to SunSport on Tuesday, pitting the best of his Queensberry stable against a crop of Hearn’s Matchroom squad.
Hearn instantly kiboshed hopes of heavyweights Daniel Dubois v Dillian Whyte and Joe Joyce v Derek Chisora, as Whyte is mandatory for Tyson Fury’s WBC title and Del Boy is scheduled to box Oleksandr Usyk when crowds are allowed back.
But he did agree to meet to thrash out the terms and thaw one of the frostiest grudges in the sport – and Warren hopes EVERYTHING is on the menu.

Warren told SunSport: “It was only a brief phone call after I had left a voicemail with him.

“But  we have agreed to meet, which is brilliant for the sport.
“People have tried to poison the well already and predict it falling through but it is in our power to do it now, we have taken the first step.
“I don’t care if we meet in a top-end restaurant or a greasy spoon cafe, he can order champagne and lobster or a fried egg sandwich and builder’s tea.

“If he wants to meet in a phonebox,  it’s all fine with me. And I will be paying — he can leave his wallet at home.”

Warren, 68, stepped up his matchmaking skills this week when he chased 18-stone Chisora around the West End in his tiny motor, trying to make the Joyce fight.
The Hall of Fame promoter spotted the Finchley brawler squeezed into his smart car and offered him the fight there and then.

Wolves star Adama Traore slaps BABY OIL on his arms so defenders can’t grab him when he runs past them

ADAMA TRAORE is feared across Europe for his blistering pace.
However, Olympiacos defenders beware – the speedy Spaniard literally is greased lightning these days after Wolves tweaked his pre-match preparations.

    2

Adama Traore is using BABY OIL to give defenders the slip
The 24-year-old winger, already one of the slipperiest customers in the Premier League, is now even harder to get to grips with.
Wolves medics came up with a cunning new ploy to protect their star forward.
They smother his arms in baby oil before games!
Eagle-eyed fans spotted Wolves backroom staff plastering Traore’s muscular arms with the slippery stuff before and during breaks in last week’s 3-0 home win over Crystal Palace.

It’s their smart solution to prevent beaten defenders tugging at Traore’s arms when he goes past him to try and slow him down.
The underhand tactic was playing havoc with the winger’s troublesome shoulder which he dislocated at home to Spurs in December.

    2

The Wolves winger is using the trick to protect his shoulder from defenders

“Defenders are so worried about him getting away from them with his pace they were reaching out and tugging at his arm.
    Wolves insider on Adama Traore

Since then it’s popped out a further four times, most recently against Sheffield United earlier this month.
Traore has been bravely soldiering on with the help of a bespoke brace which Wolves had specially made to help protect their burly forward – now they have come up with their oily solution.

“It’s something we’ve had to do to protect Adama,” a Wolves insider confirmed.
“Defenders are so worried about him getting away from them with his pace they were reaching out and tugging at his arm.
“That was causing the shoulder to pop out during games.
“Lubricating his arms makes it harder for opponents to grab him and helps prevent further damage.”

Ryan Fraser’s Bournemouth walk-out looks set to backfire as Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool transfer interest dries up

RYAN FRASER’S decision to walk out on Bournemouth looks like it could backfire.
The Scot rejected a Cherries deal of around £67,000-a-week — but Crystal Palace are offering nearer to £50,000 a week for the winger, who had hoped to earn a move worth at least double that.

    1

Fraser, 26, is available on a free and was being tracked by elite clubs such as Arsenal and Tottenham after his stellar 2018/19 campaign, when he scored seven Premier League goals and 14 assists.
After failing to repeat that success, neither club has made a move.
It means Fraser’s options could be limited to Palace and West Ham, who are also interested.
And with the pandemic affecting football finances everywhere, the wages on offer may not be as lucrative as before Covid-19 struck.

Fraser snubbed a short-term contract in June, so sat out the rest of the campaign as Bournemouth slumped to relegation.
Having signed for the Cherries back in League One, he made over 200 appearances but has not played in almost five months.

The 2019/20 season saw Fraser score just once, against Everton in September, with four assists.
Bournemouth were relegated on the final day of the season despite completing a league double over the Toffees.

After the coronavirus shutdown, they picked up only two wins in nine games as they finished a point from safety.

Alex Crook says Crystal Place are favourites to sign Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser More

John Stones likely heading for Man City transfer exit as Nathan Ake arrives to help Pep’s back ache

PEP GUARDIOLA hopes Nathan Ake can help solve the back problems that have plagued Manchester City for more than a year.
Bournemouth centre-back Ake, 25, arrived at the Etihad last night to put the finishing touches to his £41million move.

    2

And with the Dutchman’s arrival, it seems inevitable John Stones will now leave after a nightmare 18-month spell.
From the minute they lifted the FA Cup to complete the domestic Treble in May 2019, City have had a gap at the heart of their defence.
That day, skipper Vincent Kompany announced in the Wembley dressing rooms he was leaving after 11 glorious years.
Pep wanted Harry Maguire last summer but City were not willing to pay Leicester’s £85m asking price — and rivals United were.

So the Etihad hierarchy decided to wait for the right man to become available.
But just days after the transfer deadline, Aymeric Laporte suffered a serious knee ligament injury.
By the time he returned in January this year, the league title was already on its way down the M62 to Anfield.
Stones, who Pep wanted as his first signing, also struggled for fitness, while veteran midfielder Fernandinho, 35, was converted to centre-back.

Nicolas Otamendi tried but is no longer the answer, while Eric Garcia, 19, looks destined for a bright future.
Ake will be a bystander tonight as City face Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League, holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg.

Joleon Lescott, their double title-winning defender, told the Football Index Podcast: “Bournemouth were relegated but Ake is more than capable.
“He rarely has a bad game and his decision-making is excellent.
“Stones gets a rough time because he has performed. But he hasn’t reached the potential many thought he had.”

Two men arrested after ex-England footie star Kieron Dyer ‘racially abused’ at golf club

TWO men have been arrested over the alleged racist abuse of former England star Kieron Dyer.
Dyer, 41, claimed racial slurs including the words “monkey” and “banana” were made about him in the bar of his golf club.

He quit his membership saying he was appalled by the comments, allegedly made by a fellow member at Hintlesham Golf Club near Ipswich.
Dyer said in a statement last week: “It was brought to my attention by a playing partner that a fellow member verbally abused me.
“And while I did not hear it myself, as I had left the golf club to go home, I was left shocked when told.
“I have been a member at Hintlesham for a few years and have always found it a nice club with plenty of good people.

“But for me this is a deeply upsetting incident. I just hope the matter is dealt with appropriately by the Club.
“There is no place for this type of racism in our society.”
A man in his 50s was held on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

He and another man, in his 30s, were also held on suspicion of a malicious communications offence.

A Suffolk Police statement said yesterday: “Two men have been arrested following an incident in Hintlesham last month.
“They remain in police custody and will be interviewed in due course. Enquiries are ongoing.”
