Liverpool plot shock transfer of £35m Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks after Cherries relegated from Premier League

LIVERPOOL are eyeing a shock £35million swoop for Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks.
Kop boss Jurgen Klopp has made no secret of his desire to add some much-needed width to his Prem champions next term.

And he is weighing up a raid on the relegated Cherries for Brooks.

The Wales star, 23, seems certain to leave Bournemouth following their relegation.
He had an outstanding first season in the Premier League after joining from Sheffield United two years ago for £12m.
Brooks has scored eight goals in 30 top-flight appearances, earning him a new long-term contract.

But things turned sour for Brooks this season after he hurt his ankle in a friendly last July and underwent surgery.
He was expected to be out for just 12 weeks but ended up missing most of this season after he needed a second op.

But his performances since the restart almost helped Bournemouth pull off a great escape as they took their survival battle to the last day.
Liverpool have released midfielder Adam Lallana while winger Xherdan Shaqiri has been told he is surplus to requirements, so there is a space for Brooks if he can prove he has fully recovered.

Strikers Callum Wilson and Josh King are likely to follow out-of-contract Ryan Fraser out of the Cherries following their drop to the Championship.

Gareth Bale will STAY at Real Madrid next season in £60m stand-off – as payback for blocking transfer last year

GARETH BALE will stick to his guns and stay at Real Madrid in a £60million stand-off as payback for failing to let him leave last summer.
Zinedine Zidane confirmed the Wales star refused to travel for the Champions League defeat to Manchester City on Friday night because the attacker knew he would not get picked.

Gareth Bale will stay at Real Madrid next season – even though he barely plays under Zinedine Zidane
Determined Bale plans to see out the final two years of his Bernabeu contract as he remains furious with Real for blocking his mega-move to China 12 months ago.
The £1million-a-week deal to Jiangsu Suning was called off at the 11th hour after Real asked for a transfer fee and that U-turn by the Spanish champions has led to Bale’s stubborn stance.
Bale has not figured in Real’s last eight games but the 31-year-old has told friends he will not be pushed around.
A close pal revealed: “Gareth will see out his last two years unless he not only gets a move he wants but his contract paid up.

“He has not forgiven Real for stopping him going to China. He’s a very determined character and is determined to stand up for his rights.
“If that means he stays at Real for the next two years and doesn’t get a game then that is what he is determined to do.
“He will only move to a club that he believes suits him and he will only do that if Real show him the respect he believes he has earned there.”
Bale’s wage can total up to £30million a year including bonuses.

Meanwhile, Bale’s Wales team-mate Joe Allen is unlikely to be fit for Wales’ Nations League double-header against Finland and Bulgaria next month.
The Stoke midfielder, 30, is recovering from a ruptured Achilles injury sustained versus Hull in March.
Allen is back in non-contact training and hopes to be in contention for selection for the Championship outfit in mid-September when the new season starts.
Ryan Giggs’ Wales face Finland in Helsinki on September 3 followed by a home clash with Bulgaria in Cardiff three days later. But those two League B games are set to come too soon for the 56-cap ace.
Bale and Allen are not the only selection issue Giggs will face when international football returns after a ten-month break due to Covid-19.
Giggs will also monitor the futures of several of his squad before the Euro 2020 finalists next meet up.

Ethan Ampadu, 19, is back at Chelsea after his season-long loan expired at Leipzig while James Lawrence is in the same situation having returned to Anderlecht after a spell on loan at German club St Pauli.
Skipper Ashley Williams, 35, is currently without a club having finished the season at Bristol City but his future is in limbo with the Robins yet to announce a new manager.
And all-time caps holder Chris Gunter, with 96 appearances for Wales, is also looking for a new club after being released by Reading last month.
Giggs has previously made a big play that he wants players playing for their club sides if they want to stake a claim to be in his national side.

PSG plot shock Josh King transfer but Bournemouth ace is also wanted by TEN Premier League clubs and four in Italy

JOSH KING is a shock target for Paris Saint-Germain.
The Bournemouth striker is also wanted by ten Premier League clubs as well as four in Italy – including Rome rivals Lazio and Roma.

PSG are lining up a shock raid on relegated Bournemouth for Josh King
SunSport understands the Cherries, who were relegated to the Championship, do not want to sell the 28-year-old for less than £25million.

King would prefer to stay in the Premier League but then his next aim will be to play Champions League football for a club on the continent.
French champions PSG are in next season’s competition and a move to Paris would be appealing for the Norway forward.

Newcastle, Everton and Brighton have registered their interest in King, who has one year left on his Bournemouth contract.

King was close to a move to Manchester United in January but a £20million bid was rejected.
Instead, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side snapped up Odion Ighalo on deadline day. More

Chelsea transfer boost as West Ham may have to sell £70m Declan Rice if they are to buy this summer

DECLAN RICE may have to be sold by West Ham if they want to bring in several new faces to strengthen their squad.
Chelsea lead the race for England midfielder Rice, 21, with boss Frank Lampard looking to convert him back into a defender to help solve the problem area in his side.

    1

West Ham have admitted they may have to sell Declan Rice to Chelsea if they are to bring in new players
The Hammers insist they have no desire to sell their player of the year but it would be hard to turn down any offers that get close to their £70million valuation.
Manager David Moyes wants to freshen up a squad he led to Premier League survival.
But with money short because of the lack of revenue from empty stadiums, cashing in on their main man might be the only step open to them.
The club have a strong interest in QPR’s £20m-rated attacker Eberechi Eze and Brentford forward Said Benrahma.

But the resources are not there to make a bid for either at present, with Moyes having to prioritise bringing in a new defender before looking at any creative players.
The hope is money can be generated by offloading Manuel Lanzini, Felipe Anderson and Fabian Balbuena although there are no moves on the horizon for them at present.
With time ticking before the new season, it is growing likely West Ham will have to let Rice leave if the right offer comes in.
Chelsea have been patient in making a move, preferring to finish this season first.

Watford will sell Ismaila Sarr for £40m to ease financial pain of relegation with Crystal Palace keen on transfer

WATFORD will sell Ismaila Sarr for a stunning £40million to ease the financial pain of relegation.
The Senegalese winger is being offered to several clubs at the huge fee  to create an auction.

We revealed last week that Crystal Palace want Sarr, 22, and they are now willing to buy him  even without Wilfried Zaha leaving.
Vicarage Road chiefs have contacted Liverpool and Wolves about Sarr but neither are in a position to bid for him, despite liking the rapid attacker.
Palace might win the race if the player wants to stay in the Premier League after an exciting but ultimately disappointing debut campaign.
If Watford do not drop the asking price, the Eagles are likely to have a go at signing Brentford’s goalscoring wideman Said Benrahma, who they like the look of,  along with fellow Bee Ollie Watkins.

Watford will also try to sell Spanish forward  Gerard Deulofeu, although  the fee of £15m and his £85,000-a-week wages may limit the options.
Meanwhile Palace are in talks with Ireland midfielder James McCarthy about a new contract.
McCarthy, 29, joined the Eagles a year ago and he is keen to extend his stay, with contract discussions beginning in earnest.

Prem clubs face ground closures over racist or homophobic chants as chiefs crack down

CLUBS now face ground closures if their fans shout persistent racist or homophobic chants.
An FA crackdown also sees players who are guilty of on-field racism hit with bans of up to 12 games.

    2

And Premier League stars will be liable to three-match suspensions at a minimum for any social-media breaches of the regulations.
The new FA stance, which comes into effect from Monday, follows a series of incidents on and off the pitch last season.
Now Wembley beaks are determined to try to banish racism and discrimination by fans, with ground closures written into the rulebook for clubs whose supporters reoffend.
Under the new disciplinary code, drafted in consultation with Kick It Out, the PFA and the League Managers Association, the FA has made it clear that while it has no jurisdiction over fans, clubs will ultimately be “responsible for ensuring its supporters refrain from improper conduct”.

The new guidelines state: “Any action for discriminatory behaviour will be taken against a club for the behaviour of its spectators.
“All allegations of discriminatory behaviour will be investigated.”
Discriminatory chanting will, in the first instance, lead to an “action plan” to enforce improvements by clubs, which, the FA warned, “can come at a significant financial cost”.

Repeat offences will be treated with utmost seriousness.. Commissions can impose any sanctions appropriate but full or partial stadium closures will be considered.
    FA statement

The FA explained: “Any subsequent offences will be treated with the utmost  seriousness.

“Repeat offences will also be treated with the utmost seriousness, and there will be a presumption that a further action plan will not be appropriate.
“In such circumstances, Regulatory Commissions can impose any sanctions they deem appropriate but either full or partial stadium closures and financial penalties will be considered.”
Wembley chiefs believe that the new regime will be a deterrent against illicit and unacceptable chanting and gestures although at this stage points deductions are not likely.
But the steps to punish clubs for the behaviour of their fans comes alongside the harsher disciplinary measures against players who step out of line.
Under the new regulations, the existing six-game  minimum ban for on-field discrimination will remain.
But the FA now believes  making it clear that serious offences could attract a ban of double the minimum length “allows greater scope for cases to be sanctioned appropriately and consistently”.

    2

England manager Gareth Southgate has also hit out over racismCredit: PA:Press Association
There will still be “rare” cases, at either end of the scale, where the mandatory suspension lengths may not be deemed appropriate.
However,  social-media breaches — such as those that cost Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Spurs star Dele Alli  one-game bans this season — will not attract minimum three-match bans.
Plus players and managers have also been warned they can no longer use the “private message” defence to reduce any punishments.
The guidelines add: “Where the FA believes the offence is particularly serious, including by reference to the language used, it reserves the right to charge, notwithstanding the fact that the participant has or may have a legitimate expectation of privacy.”
That applies to any spoken, written or text comment, including on any form of social media and in any  circumstances including away from a football context.
And it also means players will now be liable to a charge if they like, retweet or forward a discriminatory message.

FA legal chief Polly Handford said: “We are committed to investigating, charging and sanctioning all forms of  discrimination with consistency and transparency.
“Of course no two cases are ever the same.
“But our new charging policies and sanctioning guidelines provide clear frameworks for the circumstances in which we will act.” More

Barcelona want Man City starlet Eric Garcia and will launch £14m opening transfer bid

BARCELONA will test the water with a £14million bid for Manchester City starlet Eric Garcia.
Pep Guardiola revealed on Thursday the defender, 19, is refusing to pen  a new Etihad contract.

As Garcia has just a year left on his current one, City have a big call over whether to cash in on him now.
Etihad chiefs will  want at least £20m  up front, with a  further £10m in add-ons, to consider selling him.
Otherwise they are happy to let him  see out the final 12 months before going for nothing.
But it is Barca’s interest which is believed to have unsettled Garcia, who had been expected to commit his long-term future to City.

    HEADACHE OVER STONES
The Catalan giants are hoping to land their academy product on the cheap in the current window.
Yet their opening offer is likely to be well short of his valuation by City.
Garcia’s refusal to pen fresh terms has also given City a headache over what to do about John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, who were both set to leave this summer.
But Guardiola’s issues at the back were at least eased a little by Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake completing his £41m move.

Harry Maguire was a target last summer but City baulked at Leicester’s £85m asking price — so neighbours United pounced.

Since then, though, Aymeric Laporte has suffered a serious knee injury.
Fernandinho, 35, was successfully converted to centre-back.
But Guardiola does not want another season of shuffling around for options, particularly as Liverpool dethroned City to win the title by a huge 18 points.

Barcelona face Napoli with just 13 senior players fit as Quique Setien is forced to rely on kids

BARCELONA boss Quique Setien will count on the kids to beat Napoli in their Champions League clash.
The Catalan club have just 13 senior players available for tonight’s tie at Camp Nou.

They will be without suspended midfield duo Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal as well as the injured Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele.
Juventus-bound midfielder Arthur has also made things worse for Setien after refusing to return to training since the conclusion of LaLiga.
Having a thin squad means Setien will have to rely on 17-year-old Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig, 20.

And if they do start, I am sure they will be guaranteed to play well
    Quique Setien

He said: “Both Riqui and Ansu are ready to play.

“They have performed and played pretty well and could perfectly well start.
“And if they do start, I am sure they will be guaranteed to play well.”
Setien also cooled speculation that the game could be his last as Barca boss if they fail to overcome Napoli.

The former Real Betis chief has been under intense pressure since losing out on the LaLiga title to rivals Real Madrid, leading Lionel Messi to call his side “weak”.

But Setien, whose side go into the match locked at 1-1 after February’s first leg, added: “In no moment have I thought the game could be my last.
“We are focused on advancing and playing the rest of the competition in Portugal with the same sense of excitement that we feel now.”
