Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury talks off to flying start, confirms Eddie Hearn as rivals eye showdown

ANTHONY JOSHUA and Tyson Fury’s super-fight negotiations have got off to a flying start.
As soon as the WBA, IBF and WBO champ battered brave Kubrat Pulev on Saturday night, he stated again that Fury’s WBC crown was his only focus.

The Gypsy King, 32, who  yesterday posed in a shirt mocking ‘Dossers’ Joshua and Eddie Hearn, told his rival to “grow a pair and sign the contract”.
Deontay Wilder’s case for a third Fury clash is a hitch but Oleksandr Usyk’s genuine claim for an overdue WBO mandatory shot at AJ is a bigger problem.
But Hearn has spoken to Fury’s US promoter, Bob Arum, and got the ball rolling on what could potentially be a £500million two-fight rivalry for the ages.

After a Monday night chat with the former lawyer, Hearn said: “Here, on both sides, every member of each team wants to do this fight.

“We all acknowledge this is the biggest fight in boxing, this is the best fight for both guys.
“This is for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.“Why are you in the sport, if you don’t want this fight?
“Just trying to solve any remaining issues of the fight, of which there aren’t many, to be honest with you.
“We’re trying to move forward collectively to let the governing bodies know we plan to stage this fight probably in May and would like this to be for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.

“There’s a few small issues to iron out but I think we can start looking at drawing up contracts and try to get this moving.”
Usyk’s case for a crack at Joshua’s three belts is watertight, so it will take a handsome step-aside fee or a future-fight promise to keep the undisputed cruiserweight king at bay.
Luckily, Hearn and his Matchroom team also help make the Ukrainian’s mega-money bouts, so all parties should get paid and be kept happy in house.

SunSport’s pound for pound top ten
Usyk and the WBO allowed AJ, 31, his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr 12 months ago and the Pulev clash to go ahead without any complaints.
But now the 33-year-old southpaw has had two wins at his new weight, he is not feeling so generous with his time or money.
Hearn added: “Ultimately, the big issue for Anthony Joshua is he has a WBO mandatory now.
“We will be writing to the WBO to say ‘You have an opportunity to be part of the biggest fight in boxing. One of the biggest fights in boxing history’.

“Oleksandr Usyk is the WBO mandatory, we have to respect that and the rules.
“We’ll be speaking to him to make sure he’s happy with a potential resolution.
“But, if for any reason Tyson Fury can’t contractually fight Anthony Joshua next, AJ will fight Oleksandr Usyk next.”

Mourinho lauds Tottenham’s progress during his 390-day reign as he compares himself to rival Klopp

JOSE MOURINHO has been going through his diary to check the amount of time Jurgen Klopp got to deliver the title to Liverpool.
And he also crossed out the  number of “fake days” which have hampered his own work at Tottenham.

Jose Mourinho has lauded Spurs’ progress ahead of their crunch game with LiverpoolCredit: Reuters

Which all adds up to the fact that he wants us to know what a sensational job he has done to get his team challenging Jurgen Klopp at the top of the league so quickly.
Spurs were 14th in the table when Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino in November last year — but tonight they travel to the home of the champions bang in the mix.
And the Portuguese is quick to point out: “Tottenham are a good team that works hard but Liverpool is the result of, if I’m not wrong, 1,894 days of work with Jurgen and we are the work of 390 days.
“But these 390 days are fake because a lot of them were not even days of work while we were at home in quarantine.

“So for us to be able to compete at this level with 390 days against almost 2,000, I can only give credit to my players and be very happy with what they are doing.”
It was in October 2015 when Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool, since when the club has spent around £380million to assemble a squad to win the club’s first Premier League title.
And Mourinho could not resist the temptation to point out that he actually won the title in his first years at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
He said: “In a certain period of my career and the profile of the club I was getting in my hands, I didn’t need much time to reach success.

“We did it without the need of longevity in Porto, Inter, Real and both times at Chelsea.
“It was perfect for my crazy desire to go to different countries because it was about winning and goodbye and let’s try something else.
“The first club where I felt I needed time and was not given, it was at Manchester United, where I left in the middle of the process.
“So I know what it takes for Liverpool to reach this level and their work has had to be perfect to achieve what they have done.
“One of the things they did very well in the 1,894 days was that they had time for Jurgen to establish his principles and profile of play.
“That allowed the club to improve, to stick together, to evolve and then they had huge investment on key targets such as Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.
“Everything they do has been very close to perfection to reach the level of results they are achieving.”

The Special One played down talks of an injury crisis for the championsCredit: Reuters
But the Liverpool quality which Mourinho respects above all others is their astonishing consistency which has allowed them to remain unbeaten in 65 home games in the league.
He said: “Some teams are very good in the big matches against the top sides but then don’t have the mentality to be solid for ten months of competition.
“Other teams are afraid of the big matches and hide themselves but perform better in the smaller games when they feel less  pressure.
“But this profile of team can never be champions because, to win the title, you have to be there match after match, point after point.
“It’s about the quality of the team but also the resilience of the group.
“It’s a series of factors that  create the dynamic that made Chelsea the champions and identifies why Liverpool are now so successful.”
Mourinho denies suggestions a win at Anfield would send out a huge message to Tottenham’s closest rivals in the title race.

He insisted: “It’s an isolated game where we won’t change our philosophy.
“We’ll go there and try to win but we don’t have to make any statement. It’s just a match and if we don’t win it we will still be here on Thursday.”
Mourinho says it is only a matter of time before Harry Kane and Son Heung-min break the Premier League record of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, who set up 36 goals for each other at Chelsea.
The Spurs duo have already combined 31 times but Mourinho has played down hopes of South Korean star Son, 28, signing a new contract any time soon.
He said: “I don’t press for that because it’s probably not the right moment when there is this instability around football.
“I just trust Sonny and Mr Levy because I know they both want him to stay here until the end of his career if possible.”
SPURS (likely): Lloris, Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Son, Kane.

Theo Walcott claims James Ward-Prowse is passing Man Utd great David Beckham as Premier League’s free-kick king

THEO WALCOTT believes Southampton pal James Ward-Prowse is overtaking David Beckham as the Premier League’s free-kick king.
Saints captain Ward-Prowse has already found the net with three long-range free-kicks this term – two shy of Beckham’s record of five in a season.

Walcott, who played with Becks for England, said: “After every training session I see James taking free-kicks.
“I just sit there and remember watching Beckham all those years ago.
“I always thought I should have got involved with free-kicks but he was just too good.
“Now I see James and think, ‘You’re better.’

“It’s just the way he adjusts his run-up and is always match-prepared.
“It is brilliant to watch and it is showing.
“He is always such a threat, especially when you have got us players running at defenders and trying to win free-kicks.
“It is almost like a penalty for him these days, a good weapon to have.”

Ward-Prowse’s set-pieces helped Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints climb into the top four ahead of a trip to Walcott’s struggling old club Arsenal tomorrow.
Walcott, 31, scored 100 goals for the Gunners and told talkSPORT: “It is a big game for me.
“I know a lot about the club and it will be  very game but I’m not going to be playing the occasion.
“I went back there with Everton and ended up with a black eye after getting a ball in the face.
“We’re in a fantastic moment and it shows with the results we are getting.
“The manager has so many great ideas and the players feed into that.”

Pep Guardiola tells Arsenal chiefs ‘nobody is better than’ his protege Mikel Arteta

PEP GUARDIOLA has told Arsenal’s board to give under-fire Mikel Arteta time — as they will not find a better manager than him.
It will be a year next week since the Spaniard left his role as Manchester City coach to take charge at the Emirates.

And Sunday’s disastrous 1-0 home defeat to Burnley has left him under pressure — despite winning the FA Cup and Community Shield in the summer.
Arsenal are currently languishing in 15th but former Barcelona king Guardiola — who worked with Arteta for 3½ years at the Etihad — is convinced his countryman will take the Gunners back to the top.
⚽ Read our Arsenal live blog for the latest news from The Emirates
Guardiola said: “Sometimes when a club comes from a period that is not so good, sometimes it needs time.

“I would say to the board at Arsenal, I do not have any doubts about his quality and capacity to put Arsenal in the place that they deserve to be.
“Arsenal couldn’t have a better manager to lead this club in this year and the next — nobody is better than him.
“He’s one of the best managers I’ve ever worked with and seen directly.
“For his personality and his commitment and his love for his club — because if it were not for the love of his club he would still be here.”

The pair have stayed in touch since they went their separate ways in December last year, when Arteta succeeded the axed Unai Emery.
And Guardiola added: “I don’t have to give publicly my support because he has it and he knows that he has it.
“I’m pretty sure he will turn it round and will do it like everyone expects.”

Sheffield United chairman says he won’t sack boss Chris Wilder even if Blades are relegated as miserable run continues

CHRIS WILDER has been guaranteed his job – even if Sheffield United are relegated.
The Blades were thumped 3-0 at Southampton to leave them rock bottom of the Premier League with just one point from 12 games.

But owner Prince Abdullah insists there is no chance he will be dumping 53-year-old boyhood Blades fan Wilder.
Prince Abdullah said: “I could say that Chris has earned the right to stay because he won us two promotions in the last three years, but that is not how I look at it.
“If we get relegated, I’m set to lose big money so the decision to keep Chris is simply because I think he is the best manager to take us out of the current situation.
“I believe in him, if he wasn’t the manager of the team I would hire him now and if the worst comes to the worst and we are relegated, I believe he is the manager to take us back quickly.

“It has been a tough season so far but I’m optimistic we can turn things around.
“When you have to make a decision, you’d better make it right.
Even the backing of his owner did little to brighten Wilder’s mood after yet another defeat.

“Whatever the owner has to say or needs to say that that’s down to him.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury on course to agree TWO mega fights in Middle East and London next year worth £500MILLION

ANTHONY JOSHUA and Tyson Fury are on course to agree TWO mega fights worth £500MILLION.
After AJ blew away Kubrat Pulev, his promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed a venue and TV deals are next on the agenda for the Battle of Britain.

Fury’s promoter Bob Arum said he will discuss plans with Hearn on Monday morning — starting with a £200m showdown in the Middle East.
A potential rematch would be preferred in the UK, in front of 90,000 at Wembley.
WBA, IBF and WBO king AJ refused to call the Gypsy King directly out for their planned 2021 clash after stopping Pulev in the ninth at Wembley Arena.
WBC champ Fury then said his rival “s*** himself on live TV”.

AJ replied yesterday: “That’s good to hear. At least I can get him in the ring. “That’s what we want, right?”
Matchroom boss Hearn insists Joshua is just tired of the theatrics.
Hearn said: “We are all in for that fight and actually what we should be doing is finalising it.
“The only thing that needs to be resolved is where it is going to be and a couple of TV issues. That is it. Everyone is completely in on the finances.

“We sign an agreement and then go to a conversation about the various sites.
“That’s what they did for Fury vs Deontay Wilder — signed the fight, then went to see where they could get the money.
“We need to write to the governing bodies and say, yes, we have a deal and we will confirm dates shortly for what I suppose will be the end of May.”
Hearn confirmed last week Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar are the leading contenders to take the first fight.
As a packed Wembley Stadium is unlikely to happen so soon after the pandemic, a £100m site fee is attractive.

And the two-hour difference should help them smash all UK pay-per-view records, with Hearn targeting around 2.2m buys at around £29.95 a pop.
But it is those lucky TV companies — AJ’s backers DAZN/SkySports and Fury’s ESPN/BTSport — who now have to decide if they can work together.
Arum, who promotes Fury in the US, tweeted: “It looks like the stage is set for the biggest heavyweight championship fight since Ali-Frazier in 1971.
“We will start on Monday working to put that fight together.”
AJ and Fury are set to split the first fight 50/50 — with the winner taking 60 per cent from a rematch.

England ace John Stones’ ex ‘just wants to move on’ after he ‘made her life hell when World Cup fame went to his head’

JOHN Stones ex tore into the England defender today after branding him a bully – and begged: “I just want to get on with my life.”
She told how the Manchester City ace, 26, made her life hell when he walked out on her just months after his World Cup heroics.

Brave Millie Savage told The Sun on Sunday how she felt bullied by the England and Manchester City ace.
And the 27-year-old, mum to their daughter, three, revealed how he callously dumped her, saying: “I’m done. I don’t feel free and I don’t love you anymore.”
He later began a relationship with beautician Olivia Naylor, 31.
Today, Millie lifts the lid on life as a wag – in a warning to others who believe it is gilded with glamour – and says she just wants to move on with her life.

Stones started dating beautician Olivia Naylor weeks after he and Millie split
She is now in talks with publishers in a bid to write a book detailing the perils that await.
She warns: “You see these girls in the nightclubs who throw themselves at footballers – come and live it because it’s not how you think it is.
“It’s a very lonely life, especially for these players who are at the top.
“The amount they are away from home. You don’t go out living the showy life.

“Some of them do but that wasn’t us.
“I was incredibly fortunate to have a nice home, and I never took it for granted, but it wasn’t home.
“It’s very lonely and there’s a lot of pressure. You’ve got to make sure everything is perfect for them because you’re the support.
“It’s like you’ve got another child really because you’re making sure everything is right for them.
“Everything is just done for them.”

Millie wrote about the lengths Stones went to on her Instagram
Millie also revealed how he offered his ex £45,000 in a desperate bid to stop her from speaking out.
In a message on her Instagram page, she told of the measures the £175,000-a-week defender went to to stop the interview – including paying money to clear her legal fees if she signed a non-disclosure agreement.
She writes: “He tried to gag me for this interview and even offered to pay off my £45,000 debt if myself and my family signed an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) and stayed silent.
“If you have suffered from abuse please don’t suffer in silence. We are stronger together. M x”
Millie thanked The Sun on Sunday for giving her the “freedom to speak out”.
She said Stones offered to pay her the money to clear her legal costs. He promised to pay it off in monthly instalments over three years.
But he said it would come on the condition of agreeing to sign the NDA.
Millie told The Sun Online: “I was never tempted.
“I won’t be silenced and nor should anyone else. These NDAs are used like candy by those with the money to hide behind.
“These types of orders are repugnant and should not even exist. ”

Millie and Stones were childhood sweethearts – they’re pictured at their prom in 2010
It comes after Millie sensationally opened up on the shocking inside story of their bitter two-year break-up.
In her first and only interview with The Sun on Sunday, she said: “The last two years have been hell and it is ongoing. I wouldn’t want to put anyone through this. He has been an a***hole.”
John Stones’s devastated ex says World Cup fame went to his head — adding: “I thought we’d spend our lives together but I feel he’s become a bully.”
Millie was left heartbroken when their relationship crumbled after the England ace’s heroics in summer 2018.
The couple, who met when Millie was 14 and have a daughter, three, split in November that year.
Weeks later she got an Instagram message from a mystery sender revealing that the £175,000-a-week Man City defender, 26, had started secretly dating Olivia Naylor.
Millie, 27, added: “You see these girls in the nightclubs who throw themselves at footballers.
“John has moved on with one of those girls and I feel bullied ever since by his wealth and power.
“Footballers are treated as gods and John bought into it wholeheartedly after the World Cup. He let fame get into his head.
“For footballers the rules of normal life become blurred.

I feel bullied by John’s wealth and power
    Millie Savage

“We are just mortals to them, but in reality it is like looking after a child who has no concept of how the real world works.
“I put my hopes to one side and supported him throughout his career. I kept him grounded.”
Millie and Stones met at school in South Yorkshire. She was a devoted presence as he moved from Barnsley to Everton before joining City for £47million in 2016.
A year later she gave birth. And at the 2018 World Cup in Russia the couple were pictured hugging in the stands after England beat Sweden 2-0 to reach the semis.
    MARRIAGE TALKS
Millie added: “Before the World Cup John was just John. He was lovely, polite. He’d speak to people and was just daft.
“We were like an old couple, we’d walk the dogs. We weren’t showbizzy.”
Millie said she noticed a change in his behaviour after the tournament. He partied more with teammates and started drinking at home.
Millie said he once returned from a casino at 7am and threw money at her.

Before the World Cup John was just John. He was lovely, polite.
    Millie Savage

Then in November he walked out leaving her in tears. Millie recalled: “We heard Rio Ferdinand had got engaged to Kate Wright.
“I said, ‘That’s nice to see’. John knew I’d always wanted to marry.
“We’d been together for years. I’d become a Stones. I asked why it hadn’t happened. He just didn’t want to know.
“We came home and went through our normal routine. Later that night I said, ‘Look John, I know it annoys you when I bring up marriage but you’ve got to understand it from my perspective’.

“He refused to answer then replied, ‘Look Millie, I’m done. I’m not happy. I don’t feel free and I don’t love you anymore’.”
Stones left their Cheshire home and stayed in a flat at City’s training ground, as we reported.
Millie said: “I couldn’t believe what was happening. I had no income, no money of my own.
“Some people may think I was daft but I gave up everything for him when he signed for Everton and he asked me to go with him.”
After laying out his feelings, Stones — a starter in last night’s 0-0 Manchester derby — told Millie how he saw his future without her.
She added: “He said, ‘I’ll always look after you. I want us to get on, but this is my house’.
“Straightaway I knew what I was going to have to deal with. He left me there crying and that was it.”
Soon after Millie received the mystery Instagram message titled: “Must Open, About John.”
It read: “Hi Millie, Please be with a family member or friend when you open this.
“I’m so sorry you have to find out this way and hope you can understand my reasoning for wanting to be anonymous with all the mess and publicity around the situation. You need to speak to John about Olivia Naylor.

“He has had a baby to her this Christmas, and she talks about how they are biding their time for now but they will be together once he has settled with you financially.
“It has been weighing on my conscience as it is so wrong what the pair of them have done.
“I hope I’ve done the right thing to inform you as it is hard to know what’s best in these toxic situations. All I can say is keep your chin up. X.”

I couldn’t believe what was happening. I had no income, no money of my own.
    Millie Savage

Beautician Olivia’s baby was born a month after Stones left Millie — but the child is not his. We reported on his new relationship in March 2019.
Millie added: “It’s like a Jeremy Kyle episode. John denied knowing Olivia at first but later said they’d known each other long before the World Cup.
“He told me, ‘Olivia is ten times the woman you’ll ever be’. And after everything I gave up for him he rang to say, ‘If it wasn’t for you, I’d have done better’.
“I think back to when he hugged me at the World Cup. We were elated — but it’s been cheapened.
“I suspect he thought Olivia’s baby was his, so he left suddenly in November because he knew he was living off borrowed time. The thing is, it’s not his.”
Millie stayed in their home but became aware that Stones was accessing CCTV via a phone app.
Millie recalled: “During the Covid lockdown he was sending messages about my comings and goings. I was creeped out. I felt like I was being constantly watched.”

As The Sun on Sunday reported, Stones was spoken to by cops but not suspected of committing any offence.
After the CCTV incident, Millie said: “John told me he wanted to move into our home with Olivia and her baby and that I’d have to leave.
“It felt like he was kicking me out. I left in September with nothing. I couldn’t take a thing with me.
“I walked out of that house as it was when John and I lived together.
“The same curtains we chose, the bedding, the job lot. I mean, what kind of woman would want to move into the ex’s home?”
Millie has moved to a new home paid for by the star where she can stay until their daughter turns 18.
But she ran up legal fees of around £45,000 following the split and said: “To me he’s an a***hole who is trying to control me. All I’m trying to do is move on and be the best mum I can be.
“Fame got too much for him when he went to City then the World Cup.
“Everyone there has reached out to me because they’re in utter shock at his behaviour.
“I want to see him succeed. Yes, he’s done wrong to me but at the end of the day he’s my child’s father. Whatever the present feelings between us I can never take that away from him.”
A source close to Stones said: “John is a devoted and loving father and his priority has and always will be the welfare and total privacy of his daughter.

“He denies and refutes the version of events described and has always gone above and beyond since his break up with Millie to protect his daughter.
“He has now been in a happy relationship for almost two years and is moving on with his life.
“He is saddened that Millie has taken this route for herself and their child. He won’t be making any comment.”
