It came at a crucial time in the 17-0 man’s career after he crept into world title contention with a string of eye-catching wins.
And he has been allowed to swerve the late-night feeds so trainer Tony Sims gets the best out of him.
Benn said: “I thought the baby was going to come late but it came early.
“I’ve actually been training since January 1, so that’s a long camp.
“I managed to have three days off when the baby arrived and then I was back in the gym. I’ve managed to stay well away from the sleepless nights though. I’ve been sleeping like a trooper.
“My missus has been great with baby Eli, which has been such a blessing.

“I’ve got a good set of earplugs and an eye mask and I’m in cuckoo land, I’m off to sleep.”
Benn has now left his Essex home for a week-long coronavirus bubble at a hotel next to Wembley Arena, where the fight takes place.
There, the Brit’s focus will be on his opponent, a well respected 31-year-old Colombian veteran.
He will also be free to let his designer stubble grow back. Asked why his trademark whiskers had gone, he said: “It shows I mean business now.
“I’ve done the hard work, a hard camp, and I’m ready to fight.
“The baby doesn’t like the moustache on his face when I am kissing him.
I’m not here for a long time, I’m here for a good time.Conor Benn

“You could say I am a bit of a softie at home. I just take all the aggression out in the gym.”
Benn, already a savvy businessman, will not be hanging around once he has achieved his boxing ambitions.
He added: “I’m not here for a long time, I’m here for a good time.
“I just have to achieve the world title once, however long it takes, and I will be a very happy man.”

Premier League stars turn to ex-undercover cop Mark Bowden as mental performance coach

PREMIER LEAGUE stars are turning to a former undercover cop to help them in their line of duty on the pitch.Mark Bowden spent his early career busting some of the most dangerous organised crime gangs in the country.
Mark Bowden is now helping footballers reach their potentialCredit: https://www.instagram.com/officialmarkbowden/
But the boy in blue is now a sports mental performance coach — and has the Prem’s elite queuing up to engage his services.
Bowden insists techniques employed by Special Branch officers are exactly what players need to make the most of their careers.
And he claims he could have saved West Ham a big hit on Sebastien Haller last summer.
Bowden told SunSport: “I was a covert operative with the serious organised crime agency up in London. I spent about ten years working on various operations.
“The crossover looks a big change but it’s not — because when you know how the brain works, it doesn’t matter what the stimulus to the stress is.
“At the end of the day, when I would be deployed in the field and leading operations on some of the biggest criminal networks in the UK, when you’re out there, you’re performing to the best you can possibly perform in a highly stressful situation.
“A footballer has to do exactly the same thing, perform in a highly- pressurised situation.
“Every time these players aren’t performing to their best, it has nothing at all to do with ability — and everything to do with what’s going on inside their brain.
Bowden believes he could have helped West Ham develop their former striker Sebastian HallerCredit: Getty

“If we are in the wrong part of the brain, I call it the red brain, it dulls down the sensory cortex.
“The sensory cortex is responsible for our awareness and acknowledging our environment, so we miss the runs of the opposition or our team-mates.
“But it also builds down the motor cortex.
“So all those automatic instincts that we have of a footballer controlling a ball without even thinking about it, all that now starts to break down.
“Just the way you think, the way you move or what you’re focusing upon, you release chemicals.
“And those chemicals can be performance-destroying. Or they can be, as I say to my players, the naturally-occurring, performance-enhancing chemicals we can actually produce in our brain.
“This will give us more energy, more natural focus and allow our motor functions to perform to the best of our abilities.”

The former cop is now transferring his skills into footballCredit: https://www.instagram.com/officialmarkbowden/
Bowden now has a waiting list of players desperate to work with him, after word of mouth spread around the game following the impact he has made with stars — some of whom are Premier League winners and seasoned internationals.
They approach him via direct message on Instagram or through his Fearless Footballer app, looking to find an edge to develop their game in a way the majority of clubs ignore.
The former cop says he is stunned clubs still ignore the mental side of the game — and claims he could have saved West Ham a fortune if he was able to work with Ivory Coast forward Haller, who they sold for a £17million loss to Ajax last summer.

Sebastian Haller cut short his West Ham nightmare to join AjaxCredit: Getty
And Bowden added: “How many clubs can honestly say they invest? And how many really are just gambling?
“They get a player in and they’re trying to get him in the peak physical way of being able to play. But they do very little to help with what’s going on inside their brain.
“The brain hates change, because it’s a threat. And then we go into that way of thinking.
“So a player comes in, expects to be able to shine like he did at his previous club, but how many times do we see that?
“Sebastien Haller is a prime example. He lost West Ham about £20m in 18 months.
“If you look at him, there was no injury or anything. His ability was unquestionable. And there was nothing wrong with his ability.
“But it was his ability to show it on the pitch that wasn’t. That is 100 per cent down to his brain.
“And if I was working with Haller, then I would have saved them at least £20m.
“I say at least, because then it is not a case of how much do they drop, or stopping them from dropping — it is about the improvements they actually make.”

I may not have hung up my boots in 2018 if Joe Montemurro was at Arsenal

IF Joe Montemurro had arrived at Arsenal one year earlier, I may not have hung up my boots in 2018. It was an emotional day when Joe announced this week that he would be stepping down as manager at the end of this season after three years in charge.
Joe Montemurro is leaving Arsenal to spend time with his familyCredit: Getty
He’s doing it to recharge his batteries and spend more time with his family.
Before he got the job I remember meeting him for the very first time in a Holiday Inn in Borehamwood with Arsenal’s Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley.
The club was going through a bumpy transition after Pedro  Martinez Losa left in 2017 and we had not lifted the league trophy in five years.
I felt  anxious about who was going to lead the side, as I knew it was my last season before I retired.
But as soon as I met Joe that day I  knew he was the man for the job.
He radiates positivity and was incredibly devoted to the club, as a lifelong Gunners fan from Australia!
I remember walking away from that Holiday Inn thinking, ‘wow, we’ve found our man’.
I could tell he just knew how to move the women’s side forward. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders as I knew I was leaving Arsenal Women with an incredible, new leader.

It was a hard time for him to come in because players like me, who had lived and breathed the Gunners since I was eight years old, were retiring.
So Joe had to bring in fresh faces to keep up with  rivals Manchester City and Chelsea, while still upholding the Arsenal values.
But he managed to do it perfectly and all the players had a new-found love for training.
It was no surprise when he led the club to its first WSL title in seven years in 2019, then four cup finals and a Champions League quarter-final during three years.
There has been a huge outpouring of love from the players on Twitter and Leah Williamson described him as “the definition of a good man”.
He wasn’t just a coach, he cared for the players, which is so  important in women’s football.

It’s a tough one to call as to who should take over when Joe officially leaves on May 31.
Whoever is taking on the job needs to once again move the club forward because they are likely to end this season without a trophy.
Also the new manager will need to keep the  senior star players  on board, as well as recruiting exciting  new faces.
But the main thing is we don’t want Arsenal Women to be left behind as the WSL goes from strength to strength.
There’s no better time to get into women’s football, given the historic broadcasting deal with Sky Sports and the BBC.

But Arsenal Women have got to bring trophies back to the club.
When I was a player we used to laugh about our glittering trophy cabinet, because every year we would either win the league, the FA Cup or the League Cup.
So if the Gunners are coming away from this season without any silverware at all, then in my eyes they’ve got to do better.

Sir Alex Ferguson claims Wayne Rooney could not handle his booze & he was powerless to stop the forward having affairs

Sir Alex met former Labour spin-doctor Alastair in 2010 — days after it was revealed married Rooney slept with a £1,000-a-night prostitute.
Alastair wrote in newly released diaries: “We chatted about Rooney. He sounded a bit down about him. The papers had been full of Rooney and prostitutes. I said, ‘What are you going to do about him?’
He replied, ‘What can I do? He is also the last guy who should take a drink’.”
Alastair, 63, also revealed Sir Alex feared an exodus of United stars over Rooney’s alleged attitude.
He writes: “According to Alex, Rooney was p***ing off the other players by trying to take control.”
Rooney, 35, now Derby County boss, has been asked to comment.

Meanwhile, Rooney has hit out at the EFL’s decision to play a Good Friday programme less than 48 hours after internationals.
The Derby boss says it would have been ‘sensible’ to play the games on Saturday as the Premier League have done.
Rooney had two internationals involved in squads last night, Poland’s Kamil Jozwiak and Scotland keeper David Marshall.
Ex-England striker Roo said: “My only issue is the scheduling of the Friday games after Wednesday’s internationals.
“It’s interesting that none of the Premier League teams are playing on Good Friday.
“We have a duty of care to our players.
“It leaves us in a really difficult position when it comes to playing anyone who was also involved with their countries on Wednesday.
“It would be unfair to play them. Playing on Saturday would’ve been the sensible thing to do but that’s not the case.”

SunSport revealed on Friday chairman Daniel Levy is not prepared to sell his star man.
And when asked  if he has had conversations with Kane about the situation, Spurs boss Mourinho said: “No. He works so well every day.
“He is such a professional, committed with the team,  performing well.

“I’ve nothing to speak with him about. He has three years of his contract remaining.
“Unless he wants to speak with me about it… and until now he never approached me in relation to anything.”
Asked if he was surprised by the speculation over academy product Kane, Mourinho said: “I cannot play that game. I have to focus on what he is for us.
“Of course, I’m always pleased when my players go to national teams and do well, so I’m happy he does well with England.
“But I cannot play the game of what people say, what the people don’t say.”
Ahead of Sunday’s visit to Newcastle, Mourinho added: “I focus on what he did for us in the last match against Villa.
“I focus on the effort I saw him put on the pitch for England against Albania and Poland and I focus on the match against Newcastle.
“Scoring two, one or nil, he will be there for the team. That’s where I have to focus.”

Jordan Pickford terrified injury setback could torch his Euros hopes after missing England qualifiers

England’s number one keeper is still sidelined with an abdominal injury which saw him miss the three World Cup qualifiers.
Pickford is still not back in first-team training but hopes he could return to action later this month.
But the former Sunderland keeper is terrified that any setbacks could seriously harm his chances of being selected for the summer tournament.
Pickford, 27, has also suffered a number of niggling injuries throughout the season which he has played through which have affected his performances.
He was forced off just before half-time in the 2-1 defeat to Burnley on March 13 and has not played since.
Nick Pope deputised for England over three games but did not impress Southgate with his part in Poland’s equaliser – although the Three Lions won 2-1 – following a mistake by John Stones.
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he is unsure when Pickford will return.

The Goodison boss, whose team faces Crystal Palace on Monday, said: “Not sure how long it will be.
“He is improving day by day but he still hasn’t worked on the pitch.
“Maybe he will start next week to work on the pitch with the goalkeeping coach.”
England coach Southgate has a strong rule that he will not take half fit players to The Euros.
That is why Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson could also miss out if he does not return to action soon.
Previously, England have had a history of taking injured players to major summer tournaments.
