There is still a hope he can give players some time off to pop home during the tournament.
However, the Three Lions boss admits he is unsure if he will even get the clearance to allow that to take place.
Southgate said: “We’re not going to be able to let people in.
“There’s a clear edict from Uefa on what the bubbles need to look like to be as secure as we can make them.
“It’s never going to be 100 per cent failsafe but we’ve got to comply with as much as we can.
“We’re hoping that we might at some point be able to let the players have a little bit of time at home.
“But that’s constantly being assessed. It’d be a preference for us if we can.
“But of course, we’ve got to monitor not only our own situations, but where we are as a country, what are the variants, what the government guidelines are.

“That’s we hope to do that and we’re working towards that, but it is going to be limited access which we have to accept is going to be harder for some players to cope with than for others.
“You know everybody’s going to react to that and respond to that differently.”

Harry Maguire’s fitness for Euro 2020 a mystery to England, admits Southgate as Man Utd are keeping details secret

GARETH SOUTHGATE admits he is in the dark whether Harry Maguire will be fit for the Euros – because Manchester United have kept his medical details secret from England.Maguire was named in the provisional 33-man squad for this summer despite being sidelined with ankle ligament damage and the Three Lions boss is desperate to have his centre-back available.

Southgate is yet to make a decision on Maguire for the Euros as Man Utd are keeping a tight lid on his injuryCredit: Getty
But because United have not divulged any fitness info to protect their Europa League final planning, it has left Southgate uncertain just how fit the 28-year-old will be by the time the Euros kick off next month.
He said: “At this moment in time, Harry might play tomorrow or he might be out for two months I just don’t know.
“We had an initial assessment, which was positive in terms of the tournament, but there was always a little bit more swelling and further investigation needed.
“Of course when you’ve got a European final and information for the opposition is so tight and things do leak I understand why clubs want to keep their cards close to their chest.

“It’s made it a little bit more difficult for us but I don’t have a problem with Manchester United at all, I totally understand it.”
Maguire was joined in the squad by Jordan Henderson who has not played since February after a groin operation and the two senior stars are causing the biggest headaches for Southgate.
He added: “It’s a concern because we just don’t know the level they are at.
“With Jordan we know he’s on a good path. He’s got a load of good work into his legs.
“He chose to go that route in terms of his rehabilitation rather than pushing to be on the bench.

“We were in communication through that. He’s maybe ahead physically one or two others who have had injuries but have got back on the field, so look fit, but have got they intensity, can they raise the level?
“We’ve got to manage those players very carefully through this first period. We need to push but we don’t want to break them and we’ve got to get that balance right.
“They’re all important players without doubt but the two are more of a concern because of the unknown really.”

Disgraced Czech Republic player Ondrej Kudela in line for Euro2020 call-up – if he wins appeal against racism ban

CZECH boss Jaroslav Silhavy controversially left the Euros door open for disgraced Ondrej Kudela — in case he wins the appeal against his racial-abuse ban.Slavia Prague defender Kudela copped a ten-match Uefa KO when he was found guilty of aiming offensive comments towards Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

The incident occurred in Slavia’s 2-0 Europa League last-16 second-leg win at Ibrox in March.
The ban appeared to rule veteran Kudela, 34, out of the Czech Republic’s Euro 2020 campaign.
But he is determined to clear his name and the Uefa appeals committee will hear evidence from his team-mates this morning.
Czech national coach Silhavy feels that centre-back Kudela is very unlikely to see the punishment overturned.
But he has left one space open in his 26-man squad in hope that the matter is resolved in his favour ahead of the June 1 deadline.
Silhavy said: “We will wait for the situation around the appeal of Ondrej Kudela against the ten-match penalty to develop this week. We feel that the hope is probably low but we do not want to slam the door.
“In any case, we have time to operate with that one place on the roster until June 1.”
Should Kudela’s ban be upheld, Silhavy and his coaching staff will choose another player to fill the vacant slot.

He added: “I have three defenders on standby, where I will choose one if he is unavailable.”
Hertha Berlin midfielder Vladimir Darida will skipper the Czechs at next month’s finals — they face England at Wembley in their final Group D game on June 22.
West Ham pair Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal are also included, along with Burnley striker Matej Vydra and Bristol City defender Tomas Kalas.
But Silhavy will be without Ondrej Kolar — the keeper is still out with a skull injury suffered in a challenge from Gers’ Kemar Roofe in that fiery March clash.
And Slavia winger Lukas Provod, another who played at Ibrox, has since been ruled out of the finals with a cruciate injury.
The Czechs have a training camp in Italy ahead of the finals, where they will face the Azzurri and Albania in friendlies.

He said: “Some of them would definitely have been selected. But football also brings such worries.
“I mainly wish all those players recover as soon as possible.
“We would have counted on Lukas Provod in the starting line-up. It is a sports tragedy for him and a significant weakening for us.
“Kolarř had a very difficult experience and wants to concentrate on his health.
“But we stand behind this team and we trust these players. I am convinced that we have put together an interesting team that can go as far as possible.”

UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin slams idea of staging World Cup every two years

UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin has slammed the idea of staging a World Cup every two years as “completely irrational”.Fifa Congress gave the go-ahead on Friday for a feasibility study to be conducted into holding the tournament more often than the current four-year cycle.
Aleksander Ceferin has slammed the idea of staging a World Cup every two years
But in an exclusive interview with SunSport, Uefa president Ceferin said: “FIFA can do a feasibility study about that but it’s impossible that the World Cup would happen every two years.
“This would, from one point of view, cause a complete disruption of the calendar.
“From the other point of view players would be exposed to injuries if they played a month-long tournament every second summer and will not have time to recover from the long season.
“The idea to have the World Cup every two years is completely irrational.”
The proposal to conduct a feasibility study into a biennial World Cup was made by the Saudi Arabia FA, close allies of Fifa president Gianni Infantino.
The Saudis have already given financial and moral support to Infantino’s plans to expand Fifa’s Club World Cup.
The Fifa chief has also been accused by La Liga boss Javier Tebas and others of secretly backing and encouraging the failed European Super League.

Documents suggest the ESL plotters believed they had Fifa backing for their plans and at least one senior Fifa official attended a meeting about it.
Something doesn’t add up and Ceferin said: “He [Infantino] guaranteed to me that neither he nor any of his people was present at any meetings with the Super League, that he didn’t know anything about it.
“Any Fifa president who supported a project like that, he or she could not be Fifa president anymore.
“I got a promise from his side.“We spoke over the phone. He said, ‘Ah, interesting, I haven’t heard about this project for quite a while’.
“I have to believe Fifa, that they are not behind it.
“A crazy project like that will never happen again.”
France lifted the World Cup trophy for the second time in 20 years in 2018
Florentino Perez (left) and Aleksander Ceferin (right) were at war over the ESL
To a lot of people, holding the World Cup every two years looks like another crazy project.
But it’s all part of the ongoing power struggle between Fifa and Uefa, and Infantino and Ceferin.
For now the Uefa president’s priority is successfully staging the delayed Euro 2020 tournament.
Ceferin remains hopeful Wembley will welcome at least 22,500 fans to matches during Euro 2020, despite concerns about the spread of the Indian variant.
It remains to be seen whether Wembley will be able to welcome even more fans for the semi finals and final.
Ceferin, who will hold a phone conference with Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden and government officials in early June, said: “If we’ve learned anything from this Covid situation, it is that things can change daily.
Let’s see how things go, but I’m optimistic.
“We are talking about July [for the semi finals and final].
“We hope by then the majority of people will be vaccinated. We have to be careful of course.
“We will discuss it with them, we will see what they say. The decision about it is not up to the governing bodies but the governments and local authorities.
“I think we will have spectators as planned and hopefully even more.”
Ceferin also defended Uefa’s decision to stage the rescheduled tournament in 11 different venues during a pandemic.
He said: “I have to rely on my team from Uefa Events.
“They said that it was simply impossible to change it because we invested so much into these countries.
It would be financially impossible to do it, and logistically as well, probably.
“Our health protocols are really strict.
We have played 1,300 Uefa international matches since the pandemic started and 98.5 per cent without any problems.
“I think we have to bring hope with football. We have to start, slowly, living a normal life.“We cannot just say we don’t do anything.”
