England football legend working on warts-and-all documentary

Only this time the programme, which has yet to get a working title, will focus more on Wayne’s attempts to develop his career as a football manager in the US.
A TV insider said: “It is in the very early stages of development but, given how big the first show was, there’s a real appetite for more.
“There’s continued interest, not just in Wayne but his entire family, particularly after the epic Wagatha legal battle which saw wife Coleen Rooney centre stage for a change.
“It’s not certain which channel or streaming service would air the show, but Prime Video would be the obvious choice as they aired the first profile.”

Disney+ will imminently release Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, focusing on her courtroom battle with Rebekah Vardy last year.
But there’s unlikely to be any clash between shows as Wayne’s film probably won’t drop until at least 2024.
There’s certainly plenty to explore thanks to his move Stateside, where he became manager of DC United in Washington DC last year.
The programme is being developed by top production company Lorton, which made Prime Video’s Rooney and is behind Coleen’s documentary too.

The truth behind Man City striker Erling Haaland’s bizarre sleep secret which has helped him break goal-scoring records

IT sounds like a terrifying concept, but taping your mouth shut at night is becoming a bit of a health trend.Manchester City star Erling Haaland, 23, told podcast host Logan Paul he thinks “sleep is the most important thing in the world”.

Tess Daly is also a fan of mouth-tapingCredit: Instagram
And, to get the best shut-eye, the striker said he taped his mouth shut at night to encourage nasal breathing.
Alex Neist, founder of Hostage Tape, a mouth-tape brand, explains the theory behind the idea.
“Better recovery is the biggest reason,” he told Sun Health.
“Sleep is the most powerful way Erling can be the best athlete every day.
    READ MORE ON SLEEP
“Mouth-breathing is a terrible way to breathe during sleep.”
Haaland is not alone in his quest for optimum health.
Other celebrity fans include Tess Daly and Gwyneth Paltrow.
But is breathing solely through your nose at night really that good for you, and what are the potential dangers?
    Most read in Football
Kerry Davies, aka The SleepFixer, told Sun Health: “Mouth taping, a method said to prevent snoring, is garnering attention.
“But as a sleep specialist for 13 years, I urge caution.”
    NOSE OVER MOUTH
THE aim of mouth taping is to focus on breathing through the nose, which is highly efficient.
Yoga teacher Natalie Dale, from East London, says: “Nasal breathing acts as a filtration system for the body as your nose hairs prevent allergens, dust and so on from entering the lungs, which prevents allergies.”
It also reduces susceptibility to bugs, such as colds, and slows your breathing, which eases stress, experts say.
And nitric oxide is released, which helps to widen blood vessels, improving oxygen intake and circulation.
Alex says: “With mouth breathing, you’re exhaling more CO2.
“Your body needs CO2 to transfer oxygen into your muscles for energy.
The less CO2 you have, the less oxygen your body absorbs, regardless of how much you inhale through your mouth.
“You get more oxygen through the nose.”
Studies show other benefits too, such as reduced blood pressure, improved facial structure and better lung capacity.
When it comes to sleep, it is thought better-oxygenated blood can improve the quality of your snooze, reducing daytime fatigue, hunger and mood swings.
And it may help to prevent snoring.
Natalie says: “Breathing through your mouth at night generally results in snoring and bad breath.”
Many people opt to use mouth tape to try to prevent snoring, which affects 41 per cent of adults.
    TURNING YOUR NOSE UP
EVIDENCE to support mouth taping is lacking, experts say.
While most of the benefits are anecdotal, Alex points to Taiwanese studies.
One showed mouth taping reduced snoring, as reported by partners.
A second showed patients’ snoring reduced by at least half in 65 per cent of cases.
But Natalie says: “There isn’t much research to support mouth taping, so I would be wary of promoting it.
“You need to assess what is causing the mouth breathing in the first place, rather than just trying taping.”
Kerry adds: “Dangers arise if someone has a deviated septum or sleep apnoea.
“Imagine waking up gasping for air, but unable to open your mouth.
“It could also spur sleep-associated anxieties.”
    HOW TO BREATHE
IF you want to give mouth taping a go, take it slowly. Alex says: “Start by using gentle tape during the day.
Get used to the feeling.” It’s also worth practising nasal breathing as a form of meditation.
Natalie says: “My favourite is the yoga practice of alternate nostril breathing. This is very calming.”
To try it, simply hold one nostril closed and breathe, then swap nostrils

IT’S not just mouth taping that ensures Haaland gets a good night’s kip.

He told Logan Paul: “To sleep good, [I use] just simple kind of things.
“Blue-blocking glasses, for shutting out all the signals and everything, I think is really important.”
The glasses reduce the amount of blue light that enters the eyes from phone and tablet screens.
Blue light can prevent the production of the sleep hormone, melatonin.
With too little, sleep patterns suffer.
    WINE NOT?
ENGLAND striker Jamie Vardy has admitted to drinking port to help him sleep before a match.
He wrote in his autobiography: “I fill a small plastic bottle halfway and sip the port while watching TV.

“It tastes like Ribena to me, and helps me switch off and get to sleep a bit easier the night before a game.”

While sleeping comes easier after a beverage, too much booze will affect sleep quality.

Fraudster conned football charity out of £200K and used the cash to fly to Qatar for World Cup

A FRAUDSTER who conned a football charity out of £200,000 used the cash to fly to Qatar to follow England at the World Cup.Fraser White, 24, splurged £7,000 of his loot on designer clothes and posed for photos with a Three Lions banner.
Fraser White conned a football charity out of £200,000 and used the cash to fly to Qatar to follow England at the World Cup
White was jailed for 32 months at Reading crown court
He attended qualifier matches in Malta, Spain and Italy — and shared photos of his travels, including at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium during the tournament in December 2022.
As director of a youth academy, he used his knowledge of the industry to defraud the Football Foundation, the UK’s biggest sports charity.
He made 34 false grant applications claiming to be for nine real clubs across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire between June 2020 and February 2023.
White bought subscriptions for computer programs to create forged documents with false aliases and he set up ten different bank accounts.

Prosecutor Jack Walsh said he applied for £231,038 and obtained £199,433 — all of which he had spent.
The Football Foundation told a court it was oversubscribed for grants to help save clubs after Covid so some missed out because of the fraud.
White, of Maidenhead, Berks, ran the All Star Football Academy in the town and worked as a ticketing executive at Reading FC.
He admitted what the judge called a “well-planned and sophisticated fraud” and was jailed for 32 months at Reading crown court.

I’m David Ginola’s secret lovechild – we met for first time in 28 years, he said I was ‘a real Ginola’ then cut me out

FOOTIE legend  David Ginola’s lovechild has revealed she met him for the first time after 28 years and he said “Yes, you are a real Ginola” — then cut her adrift again.Joy Pinquier wept as the former France international finally admitted he is her dad and hugged her during an emotional meeting in her home town of Marseille.

David had met mum Joelle Pinquier in France where he was playing his football at the time
But now devastated Joy claims she feels abandoned all over again  as following their hour-long meeting he severed any further contact.
In an exclusive interview Joy said: “He looked me up and down and said, ‘Yes, you are a real Ginola.’ I replied, ‘Why did you ever doubt it?’
“He took me in his arms and embraced me and it was a very special moment.
“I had tears in my eyes because it was the hug I had always dreamed of having with my dad.

“We talked for about an hour and it felt like we were connecting.
“He kept saying we would go to a restaurant to get to know each other better but, 18 months later, I still haven’t seen him.”
Ginola, 56, agreed to meet Joy after appearing on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! in 2021.
Joy, now 30, said: “Two years ago I wrote to him through his Instagram account and, much to my surprise, he replied.
    Most read in Football
“I gave him my phone number and he called. We must have spoken on the phone for about two hours and after that we started exchanging messages on WhatsApp.
“One day I saw he was going to Marseille, where I live, to play boules with his friends. I decided to head over to meet him.
“I sent a text to let him know I was there and, as I walked over, I saw he had a big smile on his face. Now I realise that he never had any interest in being my father, he was just being polite.
“It’s a horrible thing to say, but I feel like I have been abandoned a second time.”

The meeting came despite Ginola refusing to have contact with her for the first 28 years of her life.
He was married and already had his first son Andrea, now 31, with model wife Coraline, 54 — also mum to his 28-year-old daughter Carla — when Joy was conceived during a fling with Joy’s mum in 1991.
A French court ordered Ginola to take a DNA test confirming paternity three times but he always refused.
Under French law, he was then automatically declared the father.
Ginola was ordered to pay €450 (£345) a month in child support until Joy turned 18.
Her mum Joelle Pinquier, 56, was working as a secretary in Brest, where Ginola was playing for the local club, when they met.
He went on to play for Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Everton.
He was also capped 17 times by France before retiring in 2002.
Ginola continues to work as a commentator in England and France and was one of the biggest stars of the 21st series of I’m a Celebrity, where he finished fourth.
Joy said: “Mum had no idea he was married — he must have hidden his wedding ring in his pocket. I found out that he was my dad when I was six years old.
“I remember we were playing a child’s game with a sticker album and when I came to his photo, I drew a heart on it.
“That’s when my mother said to me: ‘I have a secret to tell you about that man, but I will tell you about it when you are old enough to understand.’
“I said, ‘Tell me now’ and kept insisting. Eventually, she admitted he was my father.
“It was difficult to comprehend. I loved watching football and he was a magnificent player and such a big star in France.
“I would watch him on television all the time and I was in awe of him. Not having him around, it felt like a huge hole in my life.
“I couldn’t understand why he didn’t want to be my dad.
“A father plays such a hugely important role for a little girl.
“Anyone that misses that is going to have a hard time and my childhood was tough. I stayed with my grandparents in Paris a lot as my mother struggled to raise me alone and we didn’t have much money.
“I missed my dad and I needed his love and his guidance, but he did not want to take responsibility or own up to his mistake.
“He was told to have a DNA test by the court — the first time was when I was ten or 11 years old — but he refused.
“He started paying child support when I turned 13, but still he refused to see me and I felt his absence more and more as I got older.”
Joy laid eyes on her dad for the first time when she turned 15.
She said: “He asked to meet me at a lawyer’s office in Marseille, to see if we looked alike, but at the last minute he changed his mind.
“When I got to the lawyer’s office, he was already leaving.
“We saw each other across a spiral staircase and he looked at me and smiled.
“To me, it looked like a smirk. It was horrible. By the time I got home I was in floods of tears.”
Joy’s next close encounter with her dad came in May 2016, when she was 22. Ginola, who had recently separated from Coraline, collapsed during a charity football game in the south of France that month.
He had suffered a cardiac arrest and was clinically dead for eight minutes but survived because his friend and fellow footballer Frederic Mendy performed CPR.
Ginola was airlifted to hospital in Monaco where surgeons performed a six-hour quadruple bypass.
Joy drove 136 miles to the hospital from Marseille as soon as she heard the news.
She said: “I didn’t want the first day I met my dad to be when he was dead.
“I got as far as his room. The staff outside asked to see my ID then refused to let me in.
“Later that year, I was watching one of the games at the Euros in France when David appeared as a commentator on the big screen. I immediately burst into tears.”
It would be another five years before their next contact.
Joy said: “After we first spoke on the phone, he would write to me on WhatsApp and say ‘Happy birthday’ and things like that.
“It gave me hope, but he never ended his messages ‘Dad’, he always ended them ‘David’.
“Also, he refused to apologise. He told me he was not sorry because he had told my mother that he did not want to have a child — he was very harsh about the situation. I now realise that I can’t force him to be my father.
“I am not interested in his money and I never wanted to attack him publicly. I always felt it my responsibility to defend his reputation.
