UFC champion Kamaru Usman refusing to give up hope of fighting Canelo Alvarez in mouthwatering crossover boxing clash

KAMARU USMAN is refusing to give up on fighting Canelo Alvarez in a crossover boxing match. The UFC champion wanted to face Canelo in September but the Mexican instead completes his trilogy with Gennady Golovkin.

And despite defeat to Dmitry Bivol in May, Usman still has his eyes on boxing’s top attraction.

TYSON FURY has spoken with his promoter Frank Warren about fighting the winner of Anthony Joshua versus Oleksandr Usyk. Fury has maintained ever since knocking out Dillian Whyte in April that he is retired.

But rumours persist that the WBC champion will consider a comeback to fight the winner of AJ’s rematch with Usyk.
Now Warren has spoken out to confirm talks with Fury over a potential undisputed title decider.
He told talkSPORT: “I think whoever wins it, in my heart but I might be wrong, but I think he will come back to fight the winner.

ANTHONY JOSHUA will not be staring at retirement if he loses again to Oleksandr Usyk. The British heavyweight was beaten over 12 rounds last September, but rematches Usyk on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.

A win for AJ catapults him back as a three-belt unified champion and primed for an undisputed decider against Tyson Fury, 33.
Although defeat to pound-for-pound star Usyk, 35, in the red-hot Saudi heat could leave Joshua, 32, out cold in the heavyweight picture.
But promoter Eddie Hearn is adamant even in the worst case scenario, it will not spell the end of the road for AJ.

“When he lost to Usyk, the amount of people in the industry messaged me, saying, ‘I think he should retire now.’
“I said, ‘He just lost to the pound-for-pound No 1 or 2. He’s not had that many fights.’
“He loves the sport, and I’m sure he’ll be around for a long time, but obviously we’d much rather win.”
The reassurance comes after ex-heavyweight champ David Haye, 41, claimed Joshua could RETIRE in defeat to Usyk again.

HASIM RAHMAN JR revealed Jake Paul compared himself to Floyd Mayweather before their row after sparring. Rahman shared five rounds with Paul in Las Vegas in preparation for the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s second professional bout.

Fast forward two years and the pair have signed to fight for real, which caused the release of a heated exchange from their sparring.
Rahman is incensed in the clip posted by Paul and claimed he was verbally insulted after the session, causing his furious reaction.
He told SunSport: “He used the word “bitch”. And I don’t play like that. You see he didn’t use it in the press conference.
“I believe that’s what it was over and it was when the sparring was done.

But Rahman claimed what Paul does not know is that he was specifically asked to hold himself back during the rounds.
That included being prohibited from turning southpaw and only using his lead hand.
Rahman said: “I was there to build his confidence, to have somebody for him to swing at and really not hurt him coming back, just a durable guy that’s going to be there.
“I know for a fact that his coaches aren’t telling him what they tell his sparring partners before they go in to spar him.
“I know they’re not, that would be counterproductive to what they’re trying to do. They’re trying to build his confidence.
“So they’re not going to tell him, ‘Hey, we’ve asked these pros not to go all out on you and to only go 35-40 per cent, maybe 50 per cent’.

STEVIE MALLAN has opened up on his nightmare time abroad after going an entire year without pay.The ex-Hibs midfielder is back playing in the UK after spending the last year with Yeni Malatyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
Former Hibs star Stevie Mallan has returned to the UK after a nightmare year in Turkey
He walked away from his contract this summer and has now joined Salford City in English League Two.
He’d moved out to join Malatyaspor on a two-year-deal last year after spending an initial six months on loan the season prior.
But it wouldn’t be long before things would start to turn sour.
The 26-year-old saw his wage paid in full for the first month – but was met with excuses and delays from the board every single pay day until he walked out and left.
He’s now opened up on the difficulties of the situation and his delight at being back in the UK.
He told Football Scotland: “Its difficult because you don’t know when your next wage is going to be.
“I’ve got a house in Paisley so you’re still paying your bills, your car, your mortgage and everything so it’s a bit annoying.
“Then you’re having to manage what I already had in the bank so that’s the part I found difficult.”

Mallan was joined by a majority of his team mates in walking out for good over the issue.
He added: “The President of the club came in every month or so and gave excuses like ‘we’re due TV money that’s not came in so we’ve not been able to pay staff and players’ and then there would just be different excuses.
“We were giving them deadlines basically saying ‘if you’re not paying us we’re not going to train’ and we did that a couple of times. We just sat in the changing rooms and refused to train.
“You’re just trying to explain ‘I’ve got family, I’ve got stuff back home to pay for. You don’t know my situation, you don’t know if I’m comfortable to be able to not have any wages coming in.’ ”
“I think it depends which country you go to. Everybody I’ve spoken to have had problems with payments in Turkey.
“They’ve all said as well that every club’s the exact same. Even the top clubs, you can sometimes be behind on a few months wages. But where I was you’re not getting paid half as much as the top, top players so it’s more difficult.
“If it was a country that’s known for getting paid on time I wouldn’t rule it out fully because of that one experience. I’ll just need to see what happens in the future.”

Jake Paul accused of being ‘SCARED’ to fight Hasim Rahman Jr at heavyweight after including clause to ‘cheat’ him

HASIM RAHMAN JR has accused Jake Paul of being “SCARED” to fight him at heavyweight after inserting a rehydration clause in their contract.Rahman signed to fight Paul on a month’s notice at the 200lb cruiserweight limit of 14st 4lb.

But having last fought at 224lb in April, the American will need to shed almost TWO STONE before hitting the scales on August 5.
Furthermore, Paul has also inserted a rehydration clause meaning Rahman cannot be above 215lb during a second-day weigh-in.
The son of ex-heavyweight champion Hasim Sr is not restricted to what weight he enters the ring at, but slammed the fight clause.

MEXICAN icon Julio Cesar Chavez says he would have “CRUSHED” Floyd Mayweather if they fought in their primes. Boxing legend Chavez once reached 90 fights unbeaten and ended his career with an incredible 107–6–2 record.

And while Mayweather retired with a perfect 50-0 record, he fought less than half the number of fighters that Chavez faced.
The 60-year-old, who twice beat Mayweather’s uncle Roger, named light-welterweight as his best fighting division.
And he claimed over 12 rounds he would have had the beating of the famously elusive Mayweather.
