Jake Paul against Tommy Fury given fresh hope with Showtime keen to make ‘one more attempt’ to reschedule grudge fight

TOMMY FURY has been given fresh hope in his bid to fight Jake Paul with Showtime still interested in rescheduling the grudge match. The celebrity boxing rivals first signed to face each other last December but Fury pulled out after suffering a broken rib in training.

And when they tried again for August 6, the ex-reality TV star was forced out once more, this time amid a US visa issue.
Paul, 25, instead agreed to face Hasim Rahman Jr, 31, on short notice and is yet to confirm whether he will consider fighting Fury in the future.
But President of Showtime Sports Stephen Espinoza confirmed he is willing to find out if three really is the lucky number.

“Obviously, we would need to make sure the details are taken care of and there’s nothing interfering – whether it’s the travel situation or anything else like that.
“But for our part, the network would still be interested. Whether Jake wants to go down that road a third time is a different question.
“I’m sure he has his hesitation and his reluctance, given that this is the second time for various reasons that this has happened.

Paul knocked out ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 40, after Fury, 23, originally withdrew.
It came four months after he beat Woodley on points and denied the YouTuber-turned prizefighter his first bout against a recognised boxer.
But this time, Paul did source an established substitute in the form of heavyweight Rahman, son of the legendary Hasim Sr.
And Espinoza believes the Showtime PPV bout at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden is an even tougher fight for 5-0 Paul.
He said: “The concept and idea of Rahman Jr came up and he’s got some recognition, a little bit of a name, he’s very credible as a fighter.
“And he was willing to come in under the terms that were proposed and we were able to save the event.
“I think it’s certainly a tougher fight and just as intriguing of a matchup.”
Paul, who has KOs over online rival “AnEsonGib”, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 38, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 38, almost saw his return axed.
But Rahman, who has only ever lost once in his 13 bouts, saved the card and leaves Fury’s feud with Paul still simmering.
Espinoza said: “There’s a lot oh history, a lot of talking, a lot of rivalry between Jake and Tommy Fury.
“This thing has been percolating for nearly a year at this point.
“Look, I can’t completely blame Tommy Fury, he was already prepared, he signed the contract, ready to get on a plane when other circumstances interfered with that.
“And it just couldn’t be resolved in time for the fight. Maybe it’s something that can be resolved later on.

But he remains linked with a comeback to fight either Joshua or Usyk, who rematch on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.
Fury has already thrown his support to AJ so that he can face his British rival on FREE to air TV.
But the eccentric Gypsy King – who at one point wanted £500MILLION to return – confirmed he is open to fighting Usyk as well.

DERBY COUNTY are considering launching a shock loan bid for Rangers striker Kemar Roofe, according to a report.The Rams have been busy in the transfer market this summer as they rebuild under new ownership after finally ending their crisis-laden administration spell, signing ELEVEN new players already.

The Sunday Mirror are reporting that the club, who will play in the third tier of English football in the season ahead, are ‘weighing up’ a loan move for Gers striker Roofe.
The 29-year old has proved a prolific goal scorer when fit at Ibrox, netting 34 goals since joining in August 2020.
Despite regularly finding the net, Roofe’s Gers spell has been blighted by injuries.
He managed just 21 Premiership appearances last term as regular knocks hampered his fitness.
Rangers paid £4.5 million to land Roofe from Anderlecht two years ago, and the former Leeds frontman still has two years left to run on his contract at the club.
With the future of Rangers’ main man up front, Alfredo Morelos, still seeming no clearer, it’s perhaps unlikely that the Light Blues would sanction any exit for Roofe.
Another striker, Cedric Itten, has already left the club this transfer window.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has added Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo to his attacking ranks at Ibrox.

The 36-year old former Scotland star has been a standout since making his Tannadice return last summer after a five-year spell in English football.
The Terrors were back at the home ground on Saturday, taking on English Championship opposition in the form of Alex Neil’s Sunderland.

The Irishman, who had jumped two divisions, started quick but faded in the second round before tapping out.

TYSON FURY revealed his gruelling trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder forced him into retirement… as he feared getting brain damage. The unbeaten heavyweight champion hung up his gloves after knocking out Dillian Whyte in April.

Unfortunately for his coach Rafael Cordeiro, that means being on the receiving end of Tyson’s famously spiteful punches.
In a recent clip uploaded online, Cordeiro is seen wearing a headguard and body belt in the ring with Iron Mike.
And Tyson unleashes some trademark body hooks while bobbing and weaving – in shades of his iconic best.
In November 2020, he made a sensational boxing comeback and drew with Roy Jones Jr, 53, over eight exhibition rounds.

But despite several fight rumours, Tyson is yet to make another return.
That is despite being linked with YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul, 25, who is 5-0 in the ring himself.
Tyson is open to sensationally fighting Paul – but warned it must happen this year.
He said on Jimmy Kimmel: “Anything is possible, it’s got to happen this year, got to happen this year.”

Tyson added: “I’ve never taken it very serious but that could be really interesting.
“He’s skilled enough yes, I’m going to give it to him, he’s skilled enough because he keeps winning.
