Bilbao cops launch ‘biggest security operation ever’ after brawls & trashed streets as 70k fans arrive for Europa League

BILBAO’S biggest security operation ever is underway as over 70,000 Brit’s are flooding the Spanish city to witness the ultimate Spurs vs Manchester United showdown.Spanish security officials on high alert have deployed a ring of steel to fortify the San Mames Stadium as brawls have broken out and streets trashed ahead of the final. One football fan holding a traffic light in Bilbao last nightCredit: ReutersGun-wielding cops walk through Bilbao ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United matchCredit: ReutersManchester United fans gather to show their support to their teamCredit: GettySpecialist officers protect Manchester United squad before crunch finalCredit: UEFA via Getty ImagesThousands of charged footie fans have already flooded the streets of sunny Bilbao in good spirits with drinks flowing. But overnight fiery clashes and ugly brawls between the two fan bases broke out – with hooligans expected to sow chaos ahead of the final today.Shocking images show Brit fans tearing down traffic lights, vomiting in the city’s streets and chucking bottles, vapes and cans around, with local media reporting that some footie fanatics have become “difficult to control”.To counter this, Spanish authorities have deployed more than 3,000 gun-wielding cops to oversee three security rings around the stadium.read more newsOne will sit in the immediate perimeter, another on the esplanade in front of the stadium, and the final near the Sabino Arana area. Ex-Man United player, 19, was found dead in bedroom weeks after quitting football – as family pay tribute

HEARTFELT tributes have poured in for an ex-Manchester United star who was found dead in his bedroom just weeks after quitting football.Vinicius de Oliveira Cabral de Souza, known to loved ones as Vini, tragically died aged 19 three months ago, an inquest heard.Popular footballer Vini de Souza passed away aged 19Credit: Instagram/@warringtontownfcThe young star was once on the books at Manchester UnitedCredit: JustGivingHe was found dead in his bedroom at his family home in Walkden on February 20, the court heard.Vini was born in Brazil and grew up in Portugal before moving to the UK.The young talent played for the Manchester United youth team at one point but was dropped by the Prem big shots when he was 14-years-old.Despite this setback, Vini continued playing football for the next five years and was on the books at Warrington Town FC before his death.Read More in FootballHowever, it was revealed that the teenager had quit football a few months prior to the tragedy, Bolton Coroner’s Court heard.Vini’s sister, Mayara De Souza, said that she had noticed his mood change and tried to help. She said: “He stopped doing the things that he liked to do such as football, going to the gym and seeing friends.”He started apologising about the way he treated us and we didn’t understand what he meant. Most read in Football”His best friend as well, he said the same to him and he said he doesn’t know why.”The teen’s self-esteem had also taken a hit when his acne returned after the steroid cream he had been prescribed had run out. When doctors would not prescribe more of the steroid cream, Vini bought some online from India but his sister told him not to use it.Remembering Gadi Kinda: A Football Star’s Legacy and Untimely PassingVini had booked tickets to travel to Brazil in April, the inquest heard, and was due to return on May 12 before his tragic death.Cops concluded that Vini died as a result of “self-inflicted means by hanging” after finding him dead back in February. The inquest heard that Vini stopped going out with his friends after telling his mum that he had taken drugs at a nightclub on one occasion a few months before his death. A toxicologist’s report found no trace of drugs or alcohol in Vini’s system when he died. However, Vini said that all of his friends used drugs which led to him feeling more “isolated” in the last few months of his life.Sharing the news of Vini’s death in February, Warrington Town FC said: “Scorer of the most spectacular goals, Vini was a well respected, much-loved member of the club, and his ability earned him a place training with the first team despite his young age.”He played for the first team last season in the Cheshire Senior Cup against Cheadle Town, and trained regularly with the first team, appearing in numerous pre-season friendlies over the past couple of seasons.”Assistant coroner Stephen Teesdale said he was satisfied that Vini caused his own death and recorded a conclusion of “suicide”.Addressing Vini’s sister and father at the inquest, Mr Teesdale said: “There’s nothing more you could have done. You did everything.Read More on The Sun”You spotted the problem – depression. You made a plan, you sought professional assistance from a psychotherapist.”You had a plan to take him to Brazil. ‘It’s a f***ing easy win’ – Carl Froch makes emphatic prediction for Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight

CARL FROCH did not hold back with his emphatic prediction for Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. But the Gypsy King has fuelled speculation of a comeback with recent training videos and Froch reckons a fight with AJ is easy money for Fury. He said on his YouTube channel: “I think AJ’s finished. Honestly, I think he’s finished and done. And the only fight potentially for him is the Fury fight.”Forget rematching Usyk, forget Dubois again, because we know what’s going to happen because we’ve already seen it.READ MORE IN BOXING”But the fight with Fury is safe enough because Fury probably would struggle to knock him out with one punch.”I’m not saying he can’t do that, he probably can, but that’s a fight I’d probably say, you know what if you’re going to come out of retirement – I know Anthony Joshua’s not retired – but if Fury’s going to come out of retirement that makes sense.”Because for me, it’s a f***ing easy win. Hearn told SunSport: “Next couple of months, if there’s no movement, we fight. “I mean there’s no way AJ’s not fighting this year. So who that will be? I can’t tell you. “I mean, that’s the million dollar question at all times, but I think more importantly is, do we get any news from Fury in the next four, six, eight weeks?”If we do, we’ll fight him this year. If not, we’ll fight and then maybe he comes back next year, who knows? “But I’d be lying if I said we weren’t desperate to see him return. ‘He wants my job’ – Ruben Amorim responds to Bruno Fernandes’ savage two-word dig about under-pressure Man Utd boss

THE contrast between the two pre-match media conferences could not have been more stark. After Ange Postecoglou had ranted and raged against the dying of the light on his Tottenham reign, Ruben Amorim was asked if he felt lucky not to be under similar scrutiny.Ruben Amorim joked with Bruno Fernandes about the pressure he is under at Man UtdCredit: PAFernandes had a savage two-word response to suggestions he was not under pressureCredit: GettyMeanwhile, Ange Postecoglou was snappy with reporters at his press conferenceCredit: GettyMAN UTD VS TOTTENHAM – EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL LIVELatest betting odds, offers and predictions At that point, a giggling Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes interjected by saying: “He is!”Amorim replied: “He wants my job! He will be a very, very good coach. But he needs to work on his mindset, on dealing with people!”And while they may not have a future career as the Portuguese Morecambe and Wise, it was clear United’s manager and captain are in a far more relaxed mood than their Europa League final opponents. In truth it is only because of the brevity of Amorim’s Old Trafford reign — just six months — that he is not under similar pressure.READ MORE IN FOOTBALLUnited’s Premier League form has been every bit as bad as Tottenham’s and this showpiece match has become something of a freak show — or a clown show if you want to paraphrase some of Postecoglou’s detractors. But the mood music from the United camp was one of relaxed confidence — in spite of the fact they have taken just two points from their last eight league matches.Amorim was adamant that United do not need the extra income streams which come from the Champions League qualification, which victory at Estadio de San Mames would bring.Fernandes insisted that, whatever the result against Spurs, “every player wants to play for Manchester United. The name of this club speaks for itself”.Most read in FootballBEST ONLINE CASINOS – TOP SITES IN THE UKThis was ballsy stuff from a skipper who had led the worst United team in half a century. A team already beaten three times this season by the worst Spurs team in half a century. It felt as if there was a deliberate puffing out of the chest, the way Real Madrid players so often speak before big European matches — summoning the weight of their club’s history.BATTLE FOR BILBAO: The Road to the Europa League FinalAnd it all sounded quite impressive — as long as you blanked out the fact that, since January, United have failed to beat any Premier League club outside of the bottom three.Amorim was asked whether defeat — and the absence of European football — would mean even more staff redundancies, since Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe started making swingeing cuts to the club’s budget. But the United manager said: “It’s not the case. We are doing things we need to do. I came from a club [Sporting Lisbon] where, in order to survive and maintain players, you have to be in the Champions League. This is not the case here.”And when he answered that question about being under less pressure than Big Ange, Amorim said United’s hierarchy were understanding of the deeper problems he is dealing with.Including the fact that a string of his predecessors have custard-gunned the best part of a billion pounds on under-achieving players.Amorim said: “You have coaches that lose some games and are sacked but I think people see what I am doing. The board understands we have a lot of issues, the context is hard.“I will try to prove myself to the fans, to the board but I don’t have an explanation for you. I know what I am doing. “I explained everything at the start — the storm, all the problems — to the board. But we will reach a moment where we have to win no matter what.”Join SUN CLUB for the Man Utd Files every Thursday plusin-depth coverage and exclusives from Old TraffordThis is such a death-or-glory match for both teams — lose and their season will have been a disaster, win and they are in the Champions League. So there was an element of Amorim and Fernandes trying to talk down its significance. Amorim admitted winning a trophy wouldn’t fix all the other problems the club are facing — “we have bigger things to deal with to put the club back on top. But winning this match is still massive”.The claim from Fernandes that “every player wants to play for United” doesn’t ring as true as it once used to. For how long can a club be consistently bad and still be considered a desirable place to play? For how long can a club be outside of the Champions League and still be thought of as “massive”? If United lose a fourth consecutive match against Spurs, we might be one step closer to finding out.But Fernandes knows the profile of the club hasn’t lessened, despite 12 years without a Premier League title. He said: “Every game where you have a chance to win a trophy is very big but every game at this club is massive. One week you can be a hero, the next the villain.“This game won’t change the past. But it can affect the future.”It would get us a lot of things — a place in the Champions League, a lot of revenue for the club, it gets more players wanting to come to the club.Read More on The Sun“But every player wants to play for United.
