Man Utd 4 Istanbul Basaksehir 1 REACTION: James gets fourth goal after Bruno and Rashford strikes

MANCHESTER UNITED’S revenge mission is complete against Istanbul Basaksehir.
Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford gave the Red Devils a comfortable lead after just over half an hour.

Deniz Turuc scored a cracking free-kick that was awarded thanks to goal-line technology before Daniel James bagged a fourth for the Red Devils.

    THAT’S ALL, FOLKS
Another night at Old Trafford, another Manchester United win.
Yet this one had none of the disappointment, good fortune and controversy that clouded Saturday evening’s victory over West Brom.
Instead, the Red Devils flew out of the traps this evening, eager to make amends for their Istanbul nightmare earlier in the month.
Bruno Fernandes revelled, naturally, and had the hosts 2-0 up within 20 minutes; his first a sensational half-volley, the second courtesy of a goalkeeping howler.
The Portuguese playmaker passed up the opportunity for a first half hat-trick, handing over a penalty to Marcus Rashford. The English forward made no mistake in scoring the spotkick he had won.
Dan James came off the bench to bag a confidence-boosting goal in injury time, and sealed the dominant victory that the English side’s performance in the first 30 minutes deserved.
Basaksehir were not without their chances, however, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team know that they will have to do better against a higher calibre of opposition if they hope to go far in the competition.
Deniz Turuc’s free-kick could have been more than a consolation had his teammates – Demba Ba, in particular – not passed up a number of decent opportunities.
United now need just one point from their final two games to qualify for the knockout stages, and given the difficulty of their group, they would have settled for that when the leagues were drawn.
Maybe, just maybe, this Manchester United season won’t be the underwhelming experience that so many expected.
Thanks for reading, we’ll be back with more Champions League action tomorrow night.

    READ ALL ABOUT IT
Neil Custis has been our man at Old Trafford tonight. Read his match report of Manchester United’s 4-1 victory over Basaksehir, hot off the press.

    SOLSKJAER SO HAPPY
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lauded his players after four goals and three Champions League points at Old Trafford. He’s been discussing the match with BT Sport.
“You saw the intensity straight away, the boys wanted to play. It’s a Champions League night at home at Old Trafford and you’d expect them to enjoy themselves.
“We created some great chances and scored some very nice goals. It was very pleasing.
“[Edinson Cavani and Donny Van de Beek] are getting used to how we want them to play.
“Donny can play in different positions while Edinson is a good old-fashioned number nine and we haven’t had that for a little while. I was very also happy with how Anthony [Martial] played off the left hand side again.
“When you are 3-0 up and you take your foot off the pedal a little bit, you give them something to play for. They enjoyed the second half more, but you’re happy with a 4-1 win in the Champions League.
“It’s a back problem for Victor [Lindelof] and an ankle problem for Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] so there was no point taking any more chances with. Hopefully, they will be ready for the weekend.
“We need one more point to go through, but of course we want to be top of the group – that’s our aim – so we’ll take one game at a time.”

“If Bruno wants to give it to Marcus, so be it. Why not?”
“We need one more point, but we want to top the group!”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was happy with his side’s performance as Man Utd took another step towards the Champions League knockout stage.

    DELIGHTED DAN
Dan James came off the Manchester United bench to bag himself an injury time confidence booster after a long spell without a goal.

    FERNANDES’ THOUGHTS
Bruno Fernandes scored two more goals during another Man of the Match display in the Manchester United midfield.
The Portuguese maestro has now been involved in 34 goals in 35 games in all competitions (21 goals, 13 assists) since joining the club.

“After the last game I told Rashy he could take the next one, and I remembered.”
“It doesn’t matter who takes the penalties. The team scores.”

    UNITED CLOSING IN
Manchester United have taken another step towards qualifying for the knockout stages after tonight’s result, banishing their Istanbul nightmare from three weeks ago. The English club lead the way and require just a point from their final two games, but do face PSG at home and Leipzig away.
Elsewhere in Group H tonight, PSG beat Leipzig 1-0 at the Parc des Princes.

    DONNY ON THE BALL
A rare 90 minutes of action for Donny Van de Beek in the Manchester United midfield, and it’s fair to say the Dutchman took his opportunity to impress.

    FT: MAN UTD 4-1 BASAKSEHIR
Manchester United return to winning ways in Group H with a thumping 4-1 win. Bruno Fernandes sent them on their way with a blistering first half brace before Marcus Rashford’s penalty and a late goal from substitute Dan James sandwich a long range reply from Deniz Turuc.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
    THE FINAL WHISTLE GOES!

90+2. Manchester United add gloss to the scoreline with a tremendous counter-attack in added time.
Basaksehir had men committed forward and find themseves in real trouble as soon as Nemanja Matic wins the ball back in his own half.
The Serbian feeds Edinson Cavani, who lays a pass back to Donny Van de Beek. The Dutchman then slips a through ball out to Mason Greenwood on the right, and his centre to Dan James is perfect.
The Welshman keeps his cool as he arrives in his box, and expertly steers a shot beyond Mert Gunok.
    A decent evening’s work.
    MAN UTD 4-1 Basaksehir

    GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLL!!
    DAN JAMES SEALS THE VICTORY!!

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    90. Four minutes of added time are signalled by the fourth official.
If there were home supporters inside Old Trafford, that would have probably brought groans in unison.

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    89. It’s a frantic finish.
First, Cavani tries to catch Gunok off his line with a 45-yard volley, and then Turuc goes into the referee’s book for a foul.

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    88. Another shot from Visca fires into De Gea.
It’s not of his best, but that’s probably because it was from inside the box. Thirty yards out and that would have swerved into the top corner, maybe.

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    87. A last throw of the dice for Basaksehir as Carlos Ponck comes on for Martin Skrtel.
The latter, sporting a luxurious head of hair, is almost unrecognisable from his Liverpool days.

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    86. Now Maguire gets receives a yellow card for delaying the subsequent free-kick.
That should probably tell you the manner in which United are seeing this one out.

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    85. Tekdemir goes into the book for clattering Fred after he had overrun the ball.

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    83. On the bench, the United manager looks a combination of terrified and furious.
Seconds later, James gives the ball away unnecessarily.

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    81. A final change for Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer and it’s a move to shore up his midfield.
Anthony Martial goes off with Nemanja Matic coming on.

    MAN UTD 3-1 BASAKSEHIR
    79. Crossbar! The visitors come so close to a second!
A rasping long range shot from Visca has De Gea beaten all ends up, but cracks back off the frame of the goal much to the relief of those in red.
The Bosnian’s technique when striking the ball has caused the home side many problems this evening.

    75. Consolation goal or grandstand finish?
Deniz Turuc has pulled one back for the visitors with a fine free-kick from 25 yards.
To the left of the penalty area, the Fenerbahce loanee curled a crisp shot over the wall towards goal.
Although De Gea dived down to his right to push out, the ball had clearly travelled behind the line, and the goalline technology quickly confirms as much.
    Man Utd 3-1 BASAKSEHIR

    GOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLL!!
DENIZ TURUC PULLS ONE BACK FOR BASAKSEHIR!!

    MAN UTD 3-0 BASAKSEHIR
    72. Two more changes for the visitors with Hasan Ali Kaldirim on for Boli Bolingoli and Guiliano replacing Berkay Ozcan..

    THAT’S ALL FOR TONIGHT!
Juventus are through to the last 16 after a 2-1 win over a spirited Ferencvaros, the goals courtesy of Ronaldo and an injury time winner from Morata.
There is plenty more football being covered across the week and we still have Champions League and Europa League action to come.
Starting off with tomorrow, we have Olympiakos vs Man City from 5.55pm, then Liverpool vs Atalanta and Inter Milan vs Real Madrid from 8pm!
Then onto Thursday, we have action from the Europa League with Arsenal, Leicester and Tottenham all looking to put one foot in the knockout stages.
    Goodnight!

    Alex Terrell24th Nov 2020, 22:47

    ENDRE BOTKA REACTS
“It’s very hard to take. They [Juventus] didn’t create that many clear-cut chances. We defended compactly and restricted them space in which to operate, but we’re still getting used to having to defend for 75-80 minutes and hit on the counter.”

    Alex Terrell24th Nov 2020, 22:46

REACTION FROM FERENCVAROS GOALKEEPER DENES DIBUSZ
“I’m really angry that we lost because of such a goal. I believe we fully deserved a draw. We matched Juventus, especially in the first half. Overall, we can be proud of our performance; we need to build upon it moving forward.”

    Alex Terrell24th Nov 2020, 22:44

    REACTION FROM REBROV
“I think the result is the only reason to be disappointed. The players are feeling down, but they should be proud of how they played. They worked ever-so hard. We created good chances on the counter-attack, and our three-man defence worked well.”

    A GOOD NIGHT FOR CUADRADO

    Alex Terrell24th Nov 2020, 22:27

PIRO ON DE LIGT AND DYBALA
“We knew De Ligt was already a captain at the age of 20, so we’d been waiting for his return and knew he’d give us a great deal both in defending and in keeping the team tight by passing out from the back.”
“Dybala didn’t do that well, but as I said, he was injured and had to take antibiotics for weeks, so it’s natural he needs time to get back into shape. He does need to go beyond his limits in training to rediscover his form.”

    Alex Terrell24th Nov 2020, 22:26

    MORE FROM PIRLO
“I expected more from the players, but Ferencvaros clammed up, we had to try to move the ball back and forth more quickly to spread them. We moved it too slowly, which made it easier for them to defend.
“Ferencvaros keep a high line and invite you to attack them, but if you don’t do it at the right moment, it plays into their hands. When we got the timing right, we were almost always dangerous.”

    Alex Terrell24th Nov 2020, 22:24

    PIRLO ON ARTHUR
“He got a bit pig-headed today keeping hold of the ball and trying to find more direct through balls when he should’ve spread it wide and tried to spread the Ferencvaros defence. He should’ve opened up the game more to create one-on-one situations. If the ball moved too slowly, it allowed them to get back into position.
“Arthur doesn’t have enough vision right now, but he’s learning.”

    Alex Terrell24th Nov 2020, 22:22

    REACTION FROM PIRLO
“We had intended to start with a different attitude, but we know there can be difficulties in games that seem on paper to be simple. We were too superficial at the start and had to chase the game,” He told Sky Sport Italia.
“Our first press wasn’t vehement, which is normal after so many matches to lose a little intensity, but the important thing was not to get stretched out and allow counter-attacks. We did it a few times in the first half, but then managed to settle down.
“I expected more from the players, but Ferencvaros clammed up, we had to try to move the ball back and forth more quickly to spread them. We moved it too slowly, which made it easier for them to defend.”

    Alex Terrell24th Nov 2020, 22:20

    DE LIGHT REACTS
“It was very complicated, as Ferencvaros did very well, played very tight and it was difficult to find players between the lines,” He told Sky Sport Italia.
“The important thing was to speed the ball up, play with more courage, and we didn’t create enough chances.
“I made a mistake on their goal, but we have a lot of technical quality in the team, so when we don’t move the ball quickly enough and play it short, it makes it easier for the opposition.”

    FULL-TIME STATS
Dynamo managed to shave one or two per cent off Barcelona’s first half possession stats, but it wasn’t enough to stop Barca dictating play and eventually finding a breakthrough.
Barca looked useless inside the final third in the first half, but came out for the second half and looked like the Barca of old.

In the second half, Barca spread their attacks in the final third rather evenly across the pitch.
Three of the four goals came from the right flank, and Griezmann’s coming from some nice play down the left.

Barca set up shop inside the Dynamo half and picked their opponents apart.

    FT: DYNAMO KYIV 0-4 BARCELONA
Barcelona make it four wins from four and they’re into the knockout stages of the Champions League!
They made hard work of the first half, but made the second half look very easy.
Sergino Dest opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, driving a low shot across goal and into the bottom left corner.
The floodgates opened and Barca doubled their lead just seven minutes later through Braithwaite, the forward got on the end of Garcia’s flick-on from a corner to score his first Champions League goal for Barca.
Braithwaite got Barca’s third from the penalty spot, he won it so he earned the right to take it – he thumped the ball low and hard to the keepers right.
Griezmann got on the pitch late on and decided to get in on the act.
It was wonderful play on the left-hand side, Alena picked out Alba who fed the ball into the path of the No7 and Griezmann made no mistake with the finish.

    PEEEEEEP!
    THAT’S HALF-TIME!

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-4 BARCELONA
90+1. Alena holds onto the ball on the edge of the Dynamo penalty area, drawing out two defenders.
He then plays a quick pass out wide to Alba in an advanced position, the left-back plays a first-time cross in to Griezmann who fires low past Bushhan!
    Wonderful finish. Game over!

    84. Puig races clear of Baluta and tries to drive into the Dynamo penalty area, but Andriyevskyi gets back in time to put in a vital interception.
Koeman has put faith in the Barcelona youth, and they’ve delivered.

    82. MORE CHANGES!
Baluta is on for Shepelev, the Romanian defensive midfielder is on loan from Premier League outfit Brighton.
Koeman is making another change aswell, Konrad de la Fuente (what a name) is on for Trincao.

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-3 BARCELONA
    79. Olé! Trincao slips the ball through the legs of Popov before floating a pass into the path of Braithwaite inside the Dynamo penalty area.
Braithwaite tries to wriggle free of Mykolenko but he’s unsuccessful and Dynamo clear the danger.
Braithwaite scoring a Champions League hat-trick would add to the strange list of things that have happened in 2020!

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-3 BARCELONA
    78. Just over ten minutes left to play in the second half and the three goal lead looks uncatchable…. but not impossible!

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-3 BARCELONA
    CHANCE!
    76. Puig sends Dest running down the right-hand side, the right-back cuts inside and shows some neat footwork to find some space inside the penalty area!

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-3 BARCELONA
    76. Popov receives the ball deep inside the Barcelona half, he assesses his passing options and he picks the right man to pass to, but it was an awful pass and Barcelona have a goal-kick.
    Awful.

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-3 BARCELONA
    72. More changes made by both sides.
Koeman is handing another Barcelona youngster his first team debut, Fernandes is on for Pedri.
Dynamo have taken off De Pena and Chaparenko for Supriaha and Lednev.

    LIGHTWORK
Second half strikes from Braithwaite and Dest have all but secured Barcelona’s place in the Champions League knockout stages.
Plenty of time for more goals, though. Braithwaite hat-trick anyone?

    Credit: Getty Images

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-3 BARCELONA
    70. Braithwaite steps up to the plate in the absence of Lionel Messi and tucks the penalty inside of the left post!
Wonderful finish, Braithwaite’s on a brace! Hat-trick on the cards?

    GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL!!!
    BRAITHWAITE AT THE DOUBLE!!!
HE TUCKS THE PENALTY INSIDE THE LEFT POST!!!
    THE FLOODGATES HAVE OPENED!!!

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-2 BARCELONA
    PENALTY!
    68. Alba receives the ball out wide on the left-hand side, he plays a lovely cross into the path of Braithwaite who is pushed over by Popov!
Brilliant spot by the referee. Popov booked and Braithwaite is on penalty duty.

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-2 BARCELONA
    67. Puig lets the ball run across him fooling Popov, he sprays he ball wide to Dest who drives to the by-line.
The right-back hangs a cross up at the far post for Braithwaite to meet, but the forward just misses the ball.

    DYNAMO KYIV 0-2 BARCELONA
    66. Good spell of possession for Dynamo, if they manage to get a goal back its game on – Koeman has made some substitutions which could disturb Barca’s flow.

Rennes 1 Chelsea 2 REACTION: Giroud bags injury time WINNER after Guirassy header late on has hosts dreaming

CHELSEA have qualified for the Champions League knockout stages with two games to spare after Olivier Giroud’s last-minute winner at Rennes.
The Blues needed Krasnodar to lose and to grab all three points to get through — and they did so in thrilling style after Giroud’s 91st-minute header.

Callum Hudson-Odoi had earlier given Frank Lampard’s side the lead with a cool finish from Mason Mount’s lovely through ball, before Sehrou Girassy headed in what appeared to be a body blow for the Blues.

    THAT’S A WRAP
That’s all from me this evening, but there’s a match report courtesy of Andy Dillon for you to read.
There are other Champions League blogs on the go too; Manchester United v Basaksehir, Juve v Ferencvaros and Dynamo Kiev v Barca.

    TO BE FRANK
Frank Lampard said he had been thinking of his side’s upcoming meeting with Tottenham for the last few days.
But that won’t be their only difficult game.
Chelsea top Group E on goal difference but have showdown in Sevilla next week.

    NICE PROBLEM TO HAVE
Lampard was asked what he can do to keep Olivier Giroud at Chelsea when the striker is keen for minutes.
The Chelsea boss says: “He does things like he did tonight, which is great for him. His hold up play and his physicality when he came on was great.
“I have a problem because Tammy is playing well, and we know what he did last year, and there’s also Oli who always plays that way and is incredible.
“So I have two players in a similar position that are fighting for a place- that’s a good problem to have.
“Oli will get his minutes as we have plenty of games, we play every few days, I made plenty of changes today to keep freshness in the team.
“I think the reason you see such a reaction after he scored the goal is not just because it was a late minute winner but also it shows what Oli means to the team.”

    BOSS SPEAKS
Speaking on BT Sport Frank Lampard says “I’m very happy to qualify with two games to spare.
“It was a really tough match for us to come here, they’re probably an underrated team with their recent result and we found that out tonight.
“But we also played well for big spells of the game ourselves, it was a tough, hard fought win.”

    ALL IN A NIGHT’S WORK
Safe to say Mason Mount had a good night….

    Mason Mount’s display tonight 🔥

The first assist he’s made in the Champions League too 👏 pic.twitter.com/cwEOjPRnCk
    — Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) November 24, 2020

    CALLUM SPEAKS
Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi have played together since their academy days.
Speaking of their good football relationship that resulted in the first goal, Hudson-Odoi says: “I know Mason and he works so hard and presses well in the middle.
“As soon as he got to the ball I knew to take off as I was in front of the fullback and that he would find me,
“His vision is amazing so I got in there and he found me straight away, which I was happy about and then of course I scored which I was happy about too.”

    HEADING IT HOME
Here’s the goal the gifted Chelsea a spot in the knockout round..

    Beast mode 🔛
Olivier Giroud only had his eyes on the ball there, and powered his header home! 💪

That’s ten matches now that Chelsea have gone unbeaten across all competitions.
Tonight’s result books them a spot in the knockout stages and it’s all thanks to this man…

    FT: RENNES 1-2 CHELSEA

    RENNES 1-2 CHELSEA
    91. Now they will qualify with two games to spare…

    RENNES 1-2 CHELSEA
    90. Three extra minutes..

    90. Lovely run by Ziyech who lays it to Werner on the left, who fires it low but it’s straight at the keeper.
As Gomis clears it, the ball spins out of control towards Giroud on the right of the box.
The Frenchman reacts quickly and jumps high to header it into the back of the net – an athletic leap from Gomis still can’t stop it.
    RENNES 1-2 CHELSEA

    GOOOOOAL
Giroud picks up the pieces and gives Chelsea two

    RENNES 1-1 CHELSEA
    89. Chelsea won’t qualify with two games to spare if it stays like this..

    RENNES 1-1 CHELSEA
    88. Substitution for Rennes; Maouassa replaces Truffert .

    RENNES 1-1 CHELSEA
    87. Freekick to Chelsea.
Ziyech plays it in behind the wall as Chilwell makes a brilliant run, around the wall, to jump to greet it.
It’s not a great header from Chilwell who nods it down with little power allowing Gomis to collect with relative ease.

    RENNES 1-1 CHELSEA
    85. Substitution for Rennes; Guirassy is replaced by Niang (just after scoring!)

It was a long time coming!
Another corner for Rennes is sent in to the centre of the six-yard box.
Guirassy peels off as he’s given too much space and leaps impressively high.
He nods it over Mendy’s head into the roof of the net.
    RENNES 1-1 CHELSEA

    RENNES 0-1 CHELSEA
    84. Thiago Silva once again puts out the fire as he pokes the ball away from Nzonzi’s feet on the byline.

    RENNES 0-1 CHELSEA
    83. Traore tries to whip the ball in from the right, but Thiago Silva gets up to greet it and heads it clear.

    RENNES 0-1 CHELSEA
    82. The clearance from Rennes was right at Azpilicueta’s crotch – he’s down on the floor grimacing.

    RENNES 0-1 CHELSEA
    81. Ziyech is dispossessed on the edge of the area, just as he tries to whip the ball in.

    RENNES 0-1 CHELSEA
    79. Kante races forward and tries to slip the ball through Giroud, but he can’t get onto the end of the pass, it’s too quick and too far for him.
    Giroud frustrated.

    RENNES 0-1 CHELSEA
    76. Substitution for Rennes; Camavinga is replaced by Grenier.

Liverpool 3-0 Leicester LIVE RESULT: Firmino and Jota net as Reds secure record 64-game unbeaten Anfield run

LIVERPOOL have made it a record 64 games unbeaten at Anfield.
An own goal from Leicester defender Jonny Evans set them on their way before headers from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

    GOOD NIGHT
So in what we all thought would be a tense, tight game, ended up with another Klopp home masterclass. A 64th one at that.
After complete control, Liverpool took the lead thanks to a Jonny Evans own goal on the 21st minute. 20 minutes later, Diogo Jota popped up like a fox in the box with a header of his own which broke the record of scoring in four consecutive home games for the Reds.
Leicester came out in the second half on a comeback mission but didn’t really trouble Alisson. Roberto Firmino then had his effort cleared off the line which you can see in the blog before finally getting the goal he deserved to wrap up the points.
Leicester who were high flying before the game, have been humbled by the reigning Champions and as for Liverpool, they really put on a show for the late Ray Clemence.
Thank you for sticking with us tonight at SunSport.
Get some good rest family because I know I will.

    MATCH REPORT
Plenty of talking points from the Sunday main event including Liverpool’s unbeaten run, Jota breaking records and James Milner’s training ground door.

    RODGERS’ VIEWS
Quotes from the Leicester boss on where his team went wrong today.
Rodgers said: “I thought first half when we had it we were looking too much for the through ball on the counter whenever we had to make passes.
Still had a really good chance, when Harvey comes inside and that’s a big opportunity at this level. Didn’t quite go in for us and Jay Jay went close.”
The Leicester boss added: “Second half was much better, we had to change it. We gave it 15 minutes and then made the change.
We started to be more aggressive and then we conceded another soft goal from a set piece.”

    ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Roberto Firmino’s effort that cleared off the line which Jurgen Klopp was referring to in his post match interview.
It really doesn’t get any closer than that!

Roberto Firmino won’t get any closer to scoring… ⚽️

    KLOPP’S THOUGHTS
The Liverpool boss mentioning how delighted he was with today’s performance, especially as Roberto Firmino got on the score sheet.
Klopp said “We deserved it 100%. The boys played an incredible game against a top top top opponent and playing like the way we played tonight, I don’t take things like this for granted.
The boys were really on fire football wise. They played and played and played.”
The German added: “Bobby, what people say about him, it’s ridiculous what people say. Just because you have nothing else to talk about sometimes, that’s my feeling. You cannot be closer to a goal than he was tonight.
Everybody thought the same in that moment, yes 3-0 great and exactly the right goal scorer. We were all so happy for him.”

    MILNER’S ANALYSIS
Skipper James Milner discussing the game and explaining his door at the training ground.
Milner said “I think first half we were very good, second half weren’t as good. We let them into the game a bit more I think. There’s a lot of miles in the boys legs with internationals and things like that but I thought we kept the ball pretty well.
I just said to him, I think I would have been angrier than him. It was just one of those nights where I thought he was outstanding but he just couldn’t get his goal so I’m delighted he got it.
You do the job you can and Neco came on and done very well. He slots straight in and made some great challenges and great contributions.
“Milner added: We’re blessed to have a great squad of players. Everyone is pushing each other, people are playing wherever asked and doing a good job.”
“It’s wood and hinges… Not exactly a statue or a stand.”

    THATS THE GAME!
    3 GOALS 3 POINTS!
    FT LIVERPOOL 3-0 LEICESTER

    LIVERPOOL 3-0 LEICESTER
90+3. Leicester with probably the last chance of the game.
They work it well to the overlapping Marc Albrighton who found himself in a bit of space, but he fluffs his lines and puts the ball out of Anfield.
    Sums up the Foxes game.

    LIVERPOOL 3-0 LEICESTER
90+1. The clean sheet was almost erased.
Vardy snuck in behind the defence and went round the keeper but the angle was too tight to score from there, even for a striker of his ability.

FOUR MINUTES OF ADDED TIME TO GO

    BACKTRACK
Firmino forcing accounts to update their status’ as he puts the Reds 3-0 up.

    Training ground stuff.
Delivery was spot on from James Milner yet again as it fell right onto the head of the leaping Brazilian, Roberto Firmino.
    That should be that.
    LIVERPOOL 3-0 LEICESTER

    GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!
    FIRMINO GETS HIS GOAL!
    LOVELY HEADER!

    LIVERPOOL 2-0 LEICESTER
    82. Jota’s been good today.
The Liverpool forward drove through the middle of the park and played a nice ball to Mane but his powerful effort was comfortably saved by Schmeichel.
The Reds trying to wrap it up.

    LIVERPOOL 2-0 LEICESTER
    80. Poor delivery from the Turkish international.
Sailed right over everyone and Mane was able to do his defence duties and clean up.

    LIVERPOOL 2-0 LEICESTER
    79. Chance for Under to put it in the box from a freekick as Leicester try and restore some hope in this game.
    This could get interesting.

    LIVERPOOOL 2-0 LEICESTER
    76. HOW HAS THAT NOT GONE IN?!
The initial shot from Firmino was stopped by Schmeichel, but then rebounded out to the Brazilian who had a second effort cleared off the line.
The ball then fell to the ever present Sadio Mane who saw his shot deflected onto the post.
WOW. How are Liverpool not 3-0 up?

    LIVERPOOL 2-0 LEICESTER
    74. Delightful ball in but the referee notices some pushing in the box and blows the whistle for a foul.
    Leicester freekick.

    LIVERPOOL 2-0 LEICESTER
    73. This time Robertson gets caught and the foul is given but just outside the box.
    Dangerous set piece for Liverpool.

    LIVERPOOL 2-0 LEICESTER
    71. Diogo Jota weaving his way through the Leicester defence and gets a shot off.
He did seem to get caught late and is now down currently injured but VAR have done a quick check and quickly dismissed any appeals.

    LIVERPOOL 2-0 LEICESTER
    69. Corner kick for Liverpool dealt with by Jamie Vardy.
Highlights the recent stat of how the game is going for the England international.

Leeds 0 Arsenal 0 LIVE REACTION: Marcelo Bielsa’s side play out pulsating stalemate with 10-men Gunners – latest updates

ARSENAL and Leeds played out an entertaining draw at Elland Road as Nicolas Pepe was sent off for the away side for a head butt on Ezgjan Alioski.
Leeds dominated the possession and hit the woodwork on three occasions but failed to capitalise on the personnel advantage as both sides struggled to end their winless streaks.
    Score: Leeds 0-0 Arsenal
TV/Live stream: Sky Sports Football/Premier League
Leeds XI: Meslier, Ayling, Koch, Cooper, Dallas, Phillips, Alioski, Raphinha, Klich, Harrison, Bamford.
Arsenal XI: Leno, Bellerin, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Ceballos, Xhaka, Willian, Willock, Pepe, Aubameyang

Follow ALL the action with our live blog below…

    THAT’S ALL FROM ELLAND ROAD
Twenty-five shots, 66% possession, the woodwork struck three times but ultimately no goals and just one point for Leeds United.
The West Yorkshire outfit dominated Arsenal for the entirety of their meeting this afternoon, but just couldn’t find a way through the Gunners rearguard despite having a man advantage for most of the second half.
Bernd Leno and his goalframe denied the hosts a deserved win with Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo and Raphinha all going ever so close to breaking the deadlock.
Despite the disappointment, Marcelo Bielsa and his team can take heart from a performance that ended their recent run of successive defeats.
A first draw for Arsenal this season may have been fortuitous, but Mikel Arteta’s team did at least organise themselves well after Pepe’s 50th minute sending off for a petulant headbutt on Ezgjan Alioski.
However, their defensive exploits shouldn’t cover up their problems at the other end; it’s now almost eight hours since the north London side scored a Premier League goal from open play.
The draw keeps both clubs in the bottom half of the table, but on the evidence of this performance, only one of those is on the up.
There’s more Premier League football to come tonight so why not hop over to Anfield for our live coverage of Liverpool against Leicester City.
    Thanks for reading and goodnight.

    BIELSA REACTION
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has been speaking to the press after this afternoon’s game, and has declared himself pleased with his side despite failing to break down Arsenal’s ten men.

Bielsa says Rodrigo close to starting but is not quite back up to level he was prior to testing positive for Covid. Praised Meslier’s character for coping with these big games (made a great save from Saka). Also says Dallas is a trendmous professional who made 200th app. #lufc
    — Adam Pope (@apopey) November 22, 2020

    KALVIN FINE
The return of Kalvin Phillips was most welcome for Leeds United this afternoon, and the midfielder certainly covered a lot of ground after a month out with injury as his heat map shows.

    ARTETA’S REACTION
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been chatting to Sky Sports after their goalless draw and labelled the actions of Pepe as “unacceptable.”
“Considering how early Pepe was sent off, we have to take it. I never like a draw but considering the circumstances, it’s a point.
“The first half was two different periods. The first 25 minutes we were dominant and created a lot of issues, and then the game broke.
“We started to give balls away in difficult areas which leads to them having the space to break and they’re good at it.
“With ten men, it was a matter of defending well, staying patient and using the pace of our players in the spaces they were leaving.
“[Saka’s] was the best chance of the game. The keeper did really well but, on another day, we could have won the game.
“I really liked the personality of our team. When Pepe let the team down, we suffered together, we stuck to what we had to do and still believed that we could win the game.”

    GUNNERS MISFIRING
It’s almost eight hours since Arsenal scored a goal in the Premier League from open play.

    — David Wall (@1DavidWall) November 22, 2020

    FT: LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
It ends goalless, but your guess as to how is as good as mine. Leeds battered Arsenal, but couldn’t find the breakthrough as they hit the woodwork three times and were kept out by a string of fine saves by Bernd Leno. The visitors, unadventurous throughout, were not helped by the sending off of Pepe early in the second half for a petulant headbutt.
Kieran Tierney is clearly frustrated by his side’s performance and clashes with Ezgjan Alioski as the players make their way off the field.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
IT’S ALL OVER AT ELLAND ROAD!

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
90+7. Leeds win a corner. Is there time?
The home side take it short and the whistle blows.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
90+5. Post! Leeds hit the woodwork for the third time in this half!
A cross from the right travels all the way through to Raphinha, who is off balance.
Falling back, the Brazilian manages to dig a sliced shot out that clatters the near post as Leno watches on.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
90+3. He’s back! Kalvin Phillips is booked for a poor challenge on Ceballos.
The Leeds midfielder catches the Real Madrid loanee on the ankle with his studs.
“Any higher and he would have been in real trouble,” suggests Gary Neville on commentary.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
90+2. Saka has been a lively contributor since his introduction, but he’s not going to make it until the end.
The young substitute has taken an unintentional whack on the knee from Alioski, and won’t be able to continue.
    He’s replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    90. The clock strikes 90 minutes as Arsenal smuggle away a Leeds corner, but there is going to be a minimum of five added minutes.
Can the home side find a deserved winner?

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    87. Bamford heads against the post!
The forward gets up highest to meet Poveda’s cross from the right, and can only watch in anguish as his downward header clips the base of the post and comes back into play.
Rodrigo is sniffing around for the rebound but he is unable to connect with the loose ball.
Perhaps it just isn’t going to be Leeds’ day.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    86. Liam Cooper is yellow carded for a foul on Ceballos.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    84. Was that the chance for Arsenal?!
The Gunners nearly claim a classic smash and grab after Bellerin’s brilliant run and through ball for Saka.
The substitute outstrips the Leeds defence to go one-on-one with Meslier, but takes the ball too wide as he attempts to go around the goalkeeper.
Recovering, the French stopper manages to get up and block the eventual shot. Leeds breathe a huge sigh of relief.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    81. Arsenal ask for a penalty after Aubameyang’s shot is blocked by the elbow of Cooper at close quarters.
VAR take a look at it but aren’t interested.
If that had been given, we may as well have all packed up and gone home.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    79. Rodrigo crashes a shot against the crossbar!
The substitute had fired a warning to the Gunners moments earlier with a long range effort that bent wide and now he’s gone even closer.
Receiving a slick pass from Koch, the Spaniard took a touch on the edge of the box before unleashing a brilliant curler that beat Leno but cracked the woodwork.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    78. Yet again Kieran Tierney has been one of Arsenal’s most admirable contributors.
After a long period of defending, the Scot somehow finds the energy to burst forward from the back and win his side a corner.
He needn’t have bothered though, the delivery from Nelson is awful, failing to beat the first man.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    75. A rare opportunity for Arsenal as Xhaka is unnecessarily bundled over by Cooper 25 yards from goal.
The Swiss international opts to take it himself and blasts the free-kick over the crossbar.
A let off for the Leeds skipper.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    73. Another chance, this time for Bamford.
The striker is well challenged by Tierney as they compete for a lofted cross, and the Leeds man heads over.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    72. Raphinha goes for goal himself, but his blast on the turn is blocked by one of Arsenal’s many defenders.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    70. Right place. Right time. Wrong man.
Leeds patiently work the opportunity after a lengthy spell of possession when Raphinha slips a ball back from the touchline to an unmarked teammate ten yards from goal.
Unfortunately for Leeds that teammate is Ayling, who miscontrols and allows the chance to run away.
It’s the defender’s last contribution as he is replaced by record signing Rodrigo.

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    68. Hector Bellerin foul throws.
    Again.

Hector Bellerín has had made more foul throw-ins (4) than any other player in the Premier League this season. 🙃
    — Squawka Football (@Squawka) November 22, 2020

    LEEDS 0-0 ARSENAL
    67. Leeds have had close to 80% of the possession since Pepe’s sending off, but Arsenal are holding firm.
The visitors have dropped deep in numbers and you feel as though the remainder of this game will be played in much the same fashion as a 11 v 10 training game.

Leeds vs Arsenal LIVE: Stream, TV channel, team news, kick-off time for huge Premier League clash – latest updates

ARSENAL and Leeds will both be looking to get back to winning ways when they clash at Elland Road this afternoon.
The game should be the perfect match-up of tactical nous… and expect plenty of goals as both Marcelo Bielsa and Mikel Arteta go head-to-head in the Premier League for the first time.
    Start time: 4.30 GMT
TV/Live stream: Sky Sports Football/Premier League
    Leeds XI: To follow
    Arsenal XI: To follow

Follow ALL the action with our live blog below…

    A ROQUE ROAD?
Big things are expected of Raphinha at Elland Road with the 23-year-old set to make his first start for Leeds since signing from Rennes for £17m.
He is set to become the first Brazilian to start a game for the club in the Premier League since Roque Junior faced Portsmouth during his loan spell in 2003.
Well, Raphinha can’t fare any worse than he did.

    FRIENDS REUNITED
Eddie Nketiah is named on the Arsenal substitutes’ bench this afternoon as he returns to Elland Road.
The 21-year-old striker enjoyed a loan spell at Leeds during the first half of last season’s title-winning campaign in the Championship where he scored five goals in all competitions.
The youngster is clearly fondly remembered in West Yorkshire as this image ahead of kick-off shows.

    SUNSHINE ON LEEDS
It’s a glorious setting for Premier League football as Elland Road soaks up the crisp air and autumn sun.

    MAN IN THE MIDDLE?
Before Arsenal fans get excited by the expectation of seeing Aubameyang through the middle rather than shunted out on the left, here’s a word of warning.

Don’t forget the last time Arsenal started with a front three of Willian, Pepe and Aubameyang was against Man City and Willian played central.
    — Orbinho (@Orbinho) November 22, 2020

    ARSENAL SUBSTITUTES
    13 Runarsson, 7 Saka, Lacazette, 15 Maitland-Niles, 20 Mustafi, 24 Nelson, 30 Nketiah.

    ARSENAL XI
It’s a change of shape and personnel for Mikel Arteta after that 3-0 thumping by Aston Villa. The Arsenal boss goes 4-2-3-1 with Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka, Joe Willock and Nicolas Pepe coming into the side; out go Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang captains the side and is expected to play through the middle.

    LEEDS UNITED SUBSTITUTES
    13 Casilla, 7 Poveda, 11 Roberts, 17 Costa, 20 Rodrigo, 21 Struijk, 24 Davis.

    LEEDS UNITED XI
Kalvin Phillips is back! The Leeds United midfielder’s return is one of two changes that Marcelo Bielsa makes following defeat at Crystal Palace before the international break. The England man replaces Pascal Struijk while Raphinha makes his first start for the club following his £17m move from Rennes; the Brazilian is in for Helder Costa. You never know with Marcelo Bielsa, but it looks a setup of 3-3-3-1 for the Elland Road side.
    1 Meslier, 2 Ayling, 5 Koch, 6 Cooper, 15 Dallas, 23 Phillips, 10 Alioski, 18 Raphinha, 43 Klich, 22 Harrison, 9 Bamford.

    THE TEAM SHEETS ARE IN!

    AU DEAR
In stark contrast to Bamford, many expected Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to star again for Arsenal after he netted 22 Premier League goals throughout the last campaign.
However, the forward has scored just two league goals so far, and has failed to net from open play since the first day of the season.
The Gabonese international has managed only four shots across his last four Premier League games with his only effort on target being a successful penalty against Manchester United.
The Gunners captain is averaging just 1.3 shots per 90 minutes this season compared to 2.7 last term.

    PAT ATTACK
Patrick Bamford has confounded the critics this season after many had written off his ability to flourish at the highest level of domestic football.
The striker has scored seven goals in his eight Premier League games for Leeds United with only the aforementioned Mark Viduka (9) having netted more during their first eight such games for the club.
However, only one of Bamford’s seven strikes this season has come at Elland Road – in the 4-3 victory over Fulham – and he will be eager to put that right today.

    LEEDS LOOKING BACK
It’s more than 17 years since Leeds United last beat Arsenal when a late Mark Viduka winner earned them all three points in a Premiership thriller at Highbury.
Harry Kewell opened the scoring early on for the visitors before Thierry Henry struck back for the hosts. Ian Harte (pictured below) restored Leeds’ lead after the break, only for it to be cancelled out by Dennis Bergkamp.
The match looked destined for a draw until Viduka netted two minutes from time for Peter Reid’s side.
Since that 3-2 success, the Yorkshire club have failed to win any of their seven meetings between the clubs – although it’s worth noting that five of those came in the FA CUP with Leeds stuck in the lower divisions.

    GOOD AFTERNOON FROM ELLAND ROAD
Welcome to our live coverage of Leeds United against Arsenal in the Premier League.
The international break is usually a drawn-out affair for fans of club football but, for Leeds supporters, the pause has been a most welcome one.
Having missed a month with a shoulder injury, these two weeks have allowed Kalvin Phillips to return to full fitness and he is expected to retake his place in the heart of Leeds’ midfield this afternoon.
The England international has been the man that Marcelo Bielsa has built success at Elland Road around, and it is no surprise that their form has stuttered in his absence – the Yorkshire side have slipped from third to 15th in that period.
Successive 4-1 defeats to Leicester and Crystal Palace have clouded the impressive start made on their return to the top-flight, but the Whites can take heart from the fact that they have never lost three-in-a-row since Bielsa took charge.
Arsenal also suffered a heavy loss last time out, once again emphasising that they are very much a work-in-progress under Mikel Arteta.
Their 3-0 home defeat to Aston Villa ensured the Gunners remain consistent in their inconsistency, leaving them languishing in midtable with four wins and four losses from their eight games so far.
Thomas Partey, their big-money arrival from Atletico Madrid, was withdrawn at half-time in that clash with a thigh injury, and is likely to be unavailable for today’s clash.
Meanwhile, Sead Kolasinac and Mohamed Elneny are definitely out after testing positive for coronavirus while on international duty.
We’ll bring you confirmation of the two teams shortly with kick-off to come at 4.30pm.

Man Utd 1-0 West Brom LIVE RESULT: Bruno Fernandes retaken penalty secures lacklustre United win after VAR controversy

MANCHESTER UNITED have done just enough to beat West Brom on an evening when VAR controversy reigned at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes netted a retaken penalty after Sam Johnstone saved his first attempt but was adjudged to have moved off his line.

And just minutes earlier West Brom were awarded a spot kick which was overturned after the video official asked referee David Coote to review it.

    GOODNIGHT FROM OLD TRAFFORD
After a tale of two penalties – or should that be three.
Manchester United have their first home league win of the season, but the circumstances of their victory were anything but convincing.
The 1-0 victory over West Brom was sealed by Bruno Fernandes’ penalty, retaken after the Portuguese midfielder’s first spotkick was brilliantly saved by Sam Johnstone – but only after the goalkeeper had moved early off his line.
A correct decision but harsh on Johnstone given his heroics throughout the contest, just as the initial penalty award for handball was the correct decision but harsh on Darnell Furlong given the frustrating change to the handball ruling this season.
What was harder for the Baggies to stomach was the foul on Connor Gallagher in the build-up to the incident that went unnoticed by both the on pitch and off pitch officials.
Yet that wasn’t even the foul on Connor Gallagher that drew the greatest fury among Albion followers.
Five minutes earlier, the Chelsea loanee was brought down by Fernandes in the box and won his side a penalty.
Then VAR got involved, encouraged David Coote to review his award and the decision was inexplicably reversed.
Ultimately, it means back-to-back wins for United for the first time this season, and moves them into the top half of the table, above their city rivals.
For West Brom, it’s no wins from their opening nine games to the season, but Slaven Bilic can take heart from a committed performance which deserved more.
If Albion continue to perform for the rest of the season as they did here tonight, then their relegation is by no means the certainty that has been made out.
    Thanks for reading and goodbye.

    OLE DELIGHTED
OIe Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed his joy in getting the monkey of no home wins this season off Manchester United’s back, but expressed sympathy with West Brom over their penalty that never was.
“It was important to get the first win at home.
“There’s been a lot said about it, and you could see we were a bit edgy towards the end.
“Like the game at Villa this afternoon, there’s contact on the man and on the ball [for West Brom’s overruled penalty].
“In my head, it might be a penalty and I think we’re a tad lucky. Perhaps the rules are different to how I interpret them.
“The season is going to be up and down, inconsistent and unpredictable.
“It’s very tight and very early on so points are more important than results sometimes.”

    SLAVEN SPEAKS OUT
West Brom manager Slaven Bilic has kept his cool in his post-match interview but is clearly frustrated by the decisions that have gone against his side this evening.
We played good. We were in the game and had a few chances to score.
“When you play Manchester United away, you need your goalkeeper and he was brilliant.
“I’ve told the guys that I am very disappointed because we deserved something from this game. I’ve told them to stay positive and to keep fighting like this.
“I’m really disappointed with the decision [to overrule a West Brom penalty].
“During the whole of the second half, it felt like it was a case of small West Brom and all the crucial decisions went against us.
“The foul on Connor Gallagher is a clear penalty and I don’t understand why he overturned it.
“With their penalty, it is handball under the new rules. Before it though, it was another clear foul on Connor Gallagher.
“Instead of 1-0 to us, it’s 1-0 for them. When you play against Manchester United, it’s a huge difference. It’s crucial. It’s game over.”

    ALBION HARD DONE BY
Adding insult to injury, not only have VAR intervened on a West Bromwich Albion penalty that should have stood, it has become apparent that the video officials failed to spot a foul by Fred on Connor Gallagher’s in the build-up to the incident that led to Manchester United’s penalty.
Slaven Bilic is going be one angry manager.

    RIO RAGING
Rio Ferdinand has launched a scathing attack on the officials amid a discussion over VAR’s interference with the West Bromwich Albion penalty that never was.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport on Albion’s non-penalty: “It’s a disgraceful decision. He got it right first time. It’s a nailed-on penalty. How can he go against his own decision on that?” #WBA

    FERNANDES FRONTS UP
Having scored the winning goal at the second attempt, and also been involved in the controversial incident that led to West Brom’s overturned penalty, Bruno Fernandes has spoken to BT Sport.
“It was really important for us to win this game. Not because it’s a first win at Old Trafford, but because we need points in the league.
“We create a lot of chances, but we have the quality to do much better.
“[For the West Brom penalty], I felt in the first moment that I touched the ball and in the second the contact was with the player.
“[For our penalty] it’s not good because you should score the first one despite what the goalkeeper does.
“We know we can do much better and we will do for sure.”

    BRUNO LANDS KNOCKOUT BLOW
Once again, Bruno Fernandes was the matchwinner for Manchester United.

FT: MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
Manchester United win their first home league game this season after a dramatic and controversial second half in which Bruno Fernandes netted the only goal with a retaken penalty – moments after West Brom had a penalty of their own overturned on review.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
    THERE GOES THE FINAL WHISTLE!

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
90+2. A brilliant block by Furlong denies Martial from sealing the win.
The right-back recovers to get a vital touch on the shot after the striker had beaten his man inside the box.
Some of the defending and goalkeeping from West Brom this evening has been of the highest standard, but it looks as though it’s going to count for nothing.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
90+1. Cavani – sent off for Uruguay during the international break – receives a yellow card for catching Gallagher on the instep with his studs.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    90. The 90 minutes are up, but there are going to be a further four minutes of added time to be played.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    88. Slaven Bilic roars his team on from the touchline, attempting to spur them on for one final burst.
Meanwhile, Martial buys a foul off Ajayi and that will eat up some valuable seconds.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    86. The game is getting really stretched now as West Brom commit more men forward and legs tire.
Cavani and Van de Beek nearly work an opportunity behind the visitors defence, but Bartley stays alert and robust to the last.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    84. Scott McTominay comes on for Fred.
He’s probably just on because everyone in the United dugout is sick of hearing about Scotland’s penalty shootout victory in Serbia.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    83. West Brom get a lot of bodies forward into the United box, and the scene is set for Furlong to deliver on the run.
Unfortunately for the visitors, the full-back miscontrols and allows the ball to run out of play.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    79. A couple of changes. First United’s forgotten man Donny van de Beek is on for Marcus Rashford before Filip Krovinovic replaces Branislav Ivanovic.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    76. A first yellow card of the evening is shown to Connor Gallagher for a foul on Fred.
Moments later, a Fernandes corner is pulled back to the edge of the box where it is met by Alex Telles on the volley.
The left-back sends it well wide, but it is the second time he has met a Fernandes corner in such style tonight, conjuring up memories of Paul Scholes of old.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    75. Fred to wrap it up…
    …but instead passes to Fernandes.
The Brazilian does brilliantly to tee himself up on the edge of the box with a flick but then inexplicably opts against the shot.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    74. Albion’s workrate continues to be impressive as the game enters its final stages.
Now is the time for the visitors to take a few more risks which might play into United’s hands on the break.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    71. It will be no surprise to hear that Johnstone has pulled off another save.
This is more routine, but the keeper still does well to get down low to deny Maguire at the near post.

    BRUNO ON THE SPOT
Manchester United’s goalscorer has again shown himself to be lethal from 12 yards.

50% – Half of Bruno Fernandes’ Premier League goals for Man Utd have been penalties (7/14), the highest ratio of any player to score for the club in the competition. Expert. #MUNWBA

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    67. Another outstanding save from Johnstone!
Rashford looks a certainty to score after Fernandes’ square pass across the six-yard box, but the former United goalkeeper shows great reflexes to tip the ball wide from point blank range.
The Albion number one does not deserve to end this contest on the losing side.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST BROM
    65. Robinson hits the crossbar!
The West Brom substitution almost makes a sensational introduction with a wonderful curling shot from the edge of the penalty area.
It has De Gea beaten all ends up, but crashes against the woodwork and bounces to safety.

    ALBION PAY THE PENALTY
Bruno Fernandes scores at the second time of asking after his first spotkick was saved by Sam Johnstone..
However, the West Brom goalkeeper had come off his line illegally before the ball had been stuck.
