    THAT’s ALL FOR TONIGHT!
Man Utd have taken a significant step forward in the bid to secure Champions League football after seeing off top-four hopefuls West Ham.
United will now head to Milan on Thursday as they look to progress into the quarter finals of the Europa League.
Milan do have an away goal, but United should have some key players back.
As for West Ham, it’s back to the drawing board. They need to get a result next Sunday against Arsenal if they’re going to keep up momentum in the race for Europe.
    Goodnight!

    DEVIL IN DISGUISE
HARRY MAGUIRE TURNED in a captain’s performance as Manchester United continued to be the best of the rest.
If the title is Manchester City’s, United want that runners-up spot to show continued improvement under Ole Solskjaer after last season’s third placed finish.
Nobody is more determined than Maguire who has been at the heart of a defence that has kept four consecutive league clean sheets for the first time under Solskjaer.
Given that the last two of those have come against champions elect City and inform West Ham tells you all you need to know about the improvement at the back.

    GOOD RUN OF FORM
Man Utd head into Thursday’s game on a good run of form.
However, AC Milan have the edge after scoring a late away goal at Old Trafford.

    McTOMINAY’s THOUGHTS
Scott McTominay got a vital touch on the ball to steer into onto Dawson’s head and into the back of the net.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Really important to win the third tough game of the week.
“West Ham set up really well, they made it hard for us first-half.. the message at half-time was to keep it the same, keep playing the best tempo you can possibly play at, and keep moving the ball from side to side.
“A lot of the boys were frustrated, but it’s not moaning, shaking your head, when you play against teams who sit in, and do it well … you have to play to the tempo that you normally play at and be positive in everything you do.
“It’s difficult to look at top four because we had a time when we were looking at the league … but Man City have had a terrific run of games, and we’re just doing our best to try and keep on them.”

    OWN GOAL
Dawson found the back of the net…… but at the wrong end of the pitch!

Man Utd moved back up to second in the Premier League thanks to a 1-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford, secured thanks to Craig Dawson’s second-half own goal.

Man Utd secure all three points without being put under any pressure.
West Ham made it easy for the home side and it was an own goal by Dawson which handed United the lead.
Moyes changed things once his side conceded and they were much better as a result.
But it was simply too little too late.
Solskjaer will be delighted that his side kept a clean sheet and climbed back up to 2nd in the table!

Man Utd catch West Ham out on the counter attack once again and it’s Greenwood leading the charge.

It’s not a great challenge from the United man and he’s booked as a result.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST HAM
    73. Diop loses out and James breaks up the pitch.

The midfielders first-touch lets him down and West Ham get adequate numbers back to defend.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST HAM
    70. Fernandes shows some good footwork to dance inside of Diop.
But Dawson does well to get across and shield the ball back to Fabianski. Not long left to go in the second half.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST HAM
    68. West Ham are starting to get on the ball more and asking questions of Man Utd.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST HAM
    66. Fernandes is in on goal, but pokes his effort straight at Fabianski.
Both players are left on the floor after the collision but it doesn’t look like it’ll force a substitution.

    63. WIDE!
Cresswell swings a wonderful cross into the penalty area picking out Bowen in space.
The winger gets his angles all wrong and heads the ball wide of the far post!
West Ham are starting to play football and it comes right after the attacking double substitution.

    MAN UTD 1-0 WEST HAM
    61. DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION!
Noble and Johnson make way for Lanzini and Benrahma. Two attacking changes.
You have to ask; why not go for this game from the get-go? Why change things once you’ve conceded?
Gary Neville has been very critical of the way the Hammers have set up and they’re not exactly proving him wrong.

Arsenal 2 Tottenham 1 LIVE REACTION: Lamela scores RABONA and gets SENT OFF as Spurs lose to Gunners – latest updates

ARSENAL overcame their north London derby rivals Tottenham 2-1 in an entertaining Premier League clash at the Emirates.
Erik Lamela scored a fantastic rabona but was sent off late as Martin Odegaard and Alexandre Lacazette’s goals secured the three points.
    RESULT: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham

    THAT’S ALL FROM THE EMIRATES
North London belongs to Arsenal this evening.
After five derbies without success, the Gunners fought back from a goal down to bag a deserved three points.
European qualification through the league may remain a long shot for Mikel Arteta’s men, but they now have every chance of finishing the season above their local rivals having cut the gap on Tottenham to four points.
It’s a remarkable turnaround for a side that found themselves 14 places behind Spurs following defeat in December’s reverse fixture.
And they did it without their star man, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Arsenal captain was left out as part of the club’s disciplinary measures, having reportedly arrived late to a team meeting earlier in the day.
Stand-in striker Alexandre Lacazette was the matchwinner, converting a controversial second half penalty after falling to Davinson Sanchez’s tackle in the box.
Spurs’ misery was summed up by Erik Lamela’s sending off. The substitute was red carded for two bookable offences, having earlier given his side the lead with one of the goals of the season: a rabona through the legs of Thomas Partey.
The visitors also saw a Harry Kane goal disallowed, Heung-min Son depart injured and a below-par Gareth Bale replaced prematurely. Jose Mourinho now has a task to pick his side back up for the challenge ahead.
There’s more football this evening so why not hop over to Old Trafford where Manchester United and West Ham have just got underway.Goodnight.

    MOURINHO BEMOANS PENALTY DECISION
Jose Mourinho jokingly asked whether there are any post-match interviews for referees as he disagreed with the penalty decision that cost his side a share of the North London derby. He also hit out at his players for what he called a very bad first half performance.

If somebody has a different opinion [to disagreeing with the penalty decision], they have to be one of the biggest Arsenal fans with a season ticket. It was a mistake by Michael Oliver. Maybe referees get tired.

    EMILE’S AHEAD
Emile Smith Rowe got the nod on the left ahead of Willian this afternoon, and repaid his manager’s faith with another standout performance full of pace, trickery and creativity.

Emile Smith Rowe created four chances today – more than all Spurs’ players put together. He also had the best passing accuracy of any player in the game today (97%).

    MISSED OPPORTUNITY
Having beaten Arsenal comfortably in December, Spurs came into this contest on the back of five straight wins and looking to complete their first double over their rivals since 1993.
They blew it, and they may not have a better opportunity for some time – not that Arsenal fans are letting them know about it, of course.

    ALEXANDRE THE GREAT
Following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s omission, Alexandre Lacazette stepped in as striker and captain, and capped a decent performance with the winning goal from the penalty spot.

It’s amazing. We wanted to win this game for us as well as for the fans. I think they’re happy even if we missed them in the stadium, but it was really important for us to win the derby.

Arsenal get their rewards for a dominant performance in which they registered more possession, passes, attempts, crosses and touches in the opposition box.

    FT: ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
The bragging rights belong to Arsenal in North London. The Gunners fought back from a goal behind to win following a first Premier League goal from Martin Odegaard and an Alexandre Lacazette penalty. Erik Lamela opened the scoring with an outstanding rabona, but was later sent off for two bookable offences.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!THE FINAL WHISTLE IS BLOWN!

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
90+5. Kane and Reguilon stand over the ball while Cedric lies behind a packed wall.
The set-piece probably slightly favours the left-footer, but there’s only going to be one man taking this.
Kane steps up! Over! It’s going to be Arsenal’s North London derby!

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
90+4. A weaving run by Lucas Moura is brought to an end by a cluster of desperate Arsenal defenders.
    It’s a free-kick. It’s 22 yards from goals. It’s central. It’s Tottenham’s last chance.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    90. There will be five minutes of stoppage time to be played.
Mikel Arteta is extremely animated in his technical area.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    89. Brilliant strike from Kane! Off the post!
A five-man Arsenal wall are unable to stop Kane’s free-kick that has Leno heading the wrong way. The Spurs striker initially thinks it is, and looks on in despair as it clatters back off the base of the woodwork.
Sanchez looks set to covert the rebound, only for Gabriel to somehow to keep out the follow up with his head.
    Arsenal are hanging on!

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    88. Spurs win another free-kick, approximately 30 yards from goal.
It’s a long way out, but it is within Harry Kane range. The striker stands over it.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    87. Another Arsenal change as Mohamed Elneny replaces Alexandre Lacazette.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    86. The Gunners do the job in defending the corner, but Spurs are coming again.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    85. Kane is lurking at the far post once again as a delivery comes in from the right, but David Luiz gets across to nod behind. It’s a Tottenham corner.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    83. Kane has the ball in the back of the net! But the linesman’s flag is up for offside!
The Tottenham strike finally gets a telling touch in the box, heading in Doherty’s set-piece at the far post. However, Kane had set off too early, and was clearly a yard ahead of the Arsenal backline when the ball was played.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    82. Xhaka is booked. There’s no way he could miss out on all the fun, is there?

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    80. Into the final ten minutes at the Emirates.
Arsenal have been dominant throughout, lead the game and have a man advantage. If this was a normal sport, the Gunners would comfortably see it out. As it is, they’re now dropping deep and hanging on.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    79. A thumping challenge from Xhaka on Doherty! He had to make sure he timed that one perfectly otherwise it would have been ten men against ten.

    ARSENAL 2-1 SPURS
    77. It had been coming!
Ever since his arrival as a 17th minute substitute, Erik Lamela has been flying into challenges, flicking his boots at opponents and waving his arms around.
It’s the latter that finally does for him in the eyes of Michael Oliver. Attempting to fend off Kieran Tierney, the Argentine thrusts his forearm into the left-back’s face, and receives a second yellow card.

HARRY A PAIN IN THE ARSENAL
In stark contrast to those in the Arsenal camp, Tottenham fans are rejoicing that their star striker has recovered from the slight knock he picked up on Thursday to start at the Emirates, and it’s easy to understand why.
Harry Kane is the highest goalscorer of all time when it comes to North London derbies, having bagged 11 goals for Spurs against the Gunners in all competitions.

    HERO TO ZERO
Aubameyang’s absence from the Arsenal side increases the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s young Gunners to supply and support Alexandre Lacazette in the home side’s pursuit of goals this afternoon.
It’s a burden made even bigger when considering the dropped forward’s recent record in this fixture.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has scored in both of his Premier League north London derby appearances at the Emirates.

    ARTETA DROPS AUBA
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has spoken to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off about his decision to omit Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from his North London derby starting line-up.

He was going to start the game. We had a disciplinary issue. We have drawn the line and we move on. He’s on the bench. No [there’s nothing more to add], we will keep it internal. We have a process that we have to respect for every game.

    ARSENAL XI
Mikel Arteta makes three changes to the side that won at Olympiakos on Thursday, the most notable of which being the benching of captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Arsenal boss has stated the decision is due to disciplinary reasons but would not elaborate further. In his place, Alexandre Lacazette starts at the head of a 4-2-3-1 formation and skippers the side. Elsewhere, Cedric comes in for Hector Bellerin at right-back while Emile Smith Rowe replaces Willian.
    1 Leno; 17 Cedric, 23 David Luiz, 6 Gabriel, 3 Tierney; 18 Partey, 34 Xhaka; 7 Saka, 11 Odegaard, 32 Smith Rowe; 9 Lacazette

    THE TEAMSHEET ARE IN!

    GUNNERS GUARDING THE FORTRESS
However, it’s rare for Spurs to leave the home of their old enemy with all three points, whether it’s been the Emirates Stadium or Highbury.
In fact, Arsenal have lost just two of their last 35 home league games with Tottenham, winning 19 and drawing 14 in the process.
Spurs’ only two successes at their rivals in the last 36 years occurred, first in May 1993 with a 3-1 win, and, more recently, with a 3-2 comeback in November 2010.

    SPURS SENSING HISTORY
Tottenham arrive at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon in a unique position, having gone unbeaten in their last five North London derbies in all competitions (W3 D2).
Spurs 2-0 Arsenal (PL Dec 2020)
Spurs 2-1 Arsenal (PL July 2020)
Arsenal 2-2 Spurs (PL Sept 2019)
Spurs 1-1 Arsenal (PL March 2019)
Arsenal 0-2 Spurs (EFL Cup Dec 2018)
Spurs have never before gone six without defeat against Arsenal, haven’t won consecutive league games against them since October 1974, and haven’t completed a league double over the Gunners since the 1992-93 season.

    SENSATIONAL SAKA
Bukaya Saka has been Arsenal’s standout performer this season, and Freddie Ljungberg is convinced that the 19-year-old has what it takes to go to the very top.
The Gunners’ former player and coach is part of the Sky Sports’ studio team this afternoon, and has spoken about his time working with the teenager, and how delighted he’s been by Saka’s breakthrough campaign.

    — Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) March 14, 2021

    GOOD AFTERNOON FROM NORTH LONDON
Welcome to SunSport’s live coverage of Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
The North London derby is always a crunch fixture in the football calendar, but this meeting feels particularly pivotal in determining these two clubs’ final destinations come May.
With 11 games to play, it’s now or never in their respective quests for European qualification – assuming neither take advantage of the back door route to the Champions League that is winning the Europa.
Much has changed since the sides last met in December. Back then, a 2-0 Spurs success in front of 2,000 fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium had them top of the league while their beaten rivals languished in the bottom six.
However, only three places and seven points separate the pair going into this afternoon.
Seventh-placed Spurs have found the winning formula again since their mid-season wobble with Gareth Bale finally integrated within the side, and Harry Kane – a man who relishes the North London derby – back doing what he does best.
Kane has 26 goals for the season, having netted four in the past week alone, but he did pick up a knock in Thursday’s defeat of Dinamo Zagreb.
Yet Jose Mourinho expects his main man to be fit enough to start, and is also expected to recall other big guns such as Sergio Reguilon, Toby Alderweireld and Bale, after resting them last time out.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has a fully fit squad to select from, and has his own rejuvenated forward in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gunners captain has netted six in his last seven appearances, a run that has seen his side beaten just once.
We’ll have confirmation of the starting line-ups shortly with kick-off at the Emirates scheduled for 4.30pm.

    LEICESTER 3-0 SHEFFIELD UNITED
It’s raining goals at the King Power Stadium as Leicester add a quick third goal.
For the second time in the match Jamie Vardy turns provider for Kelechi Iheanacho and he fires home again.
Sheffield United have not been able to cope with the Foxes and Brendan Rodgers’ side will be going second.

    LEICESTER 2-0 SHEFFIELD UNITED
That is surely that as Leicester extend their lead with a superb breakaway goal.
The ball is played to Ayoze Perez and he drills a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.
The Foxes are heading up to second while it is more misery for the Blades at the bottom.

    GUNNER GET YA
We are not too far away from the North London Derby getting underway and Tottenham will be feeling confident about their chances.
After all, Harry Kane and Gareth Bale boast a superb record against Arsenal.
Kane has a stunning record of 11 goals against Arsenal in 12 matches.
And Bale has also enjoyed plenty of success with five goals in ten North London derbies.
Surely Jose Mourinho will unleash Bale in this afternoon’s game as Spurs look to boost their top-four hopes?

    LEICESTER 1-0 SHEFFIELD UNITED
It’s taken almost 40 minutes but the breakthrough has come as Leicester take the lead against Sheffield United.
The Blades had looked relatively comfortable but Jamie Vardy broke clear and played a ball across for Kelechi Iheanacho to tap in from close range.
What have Sheffield United got in response? They have only scored 16 goals so the odds don’t look great for their chances.

    POINT THE FINGER
Alexandre Lacazette was spotted wearing Mesut Ozil branded merchandise during Gunners training ahead of the North London Derby and has left fans divided.
Mikel Arteta’s side host bitter rivals Tottenham this afternoon in a key clash for both sides.
But it is Lacazette’s attire ahead of the game which has caught the eye of Arsenal fans after he wore an Ozil-branded bandage on his finger.
Ozil departed the Emirates for Fenerbahce in the January window following a turbulent last 12 months at the club.
And it is Ozil’s tumultuous relationship with the Gunners faithful that has led many of them to question the striker’s decision to wear the bandage during training.

    LEICESTER v SHEFFIELD UNITED
Next up Leicester will bid to strengthen their top-four claims against bottom side Sheffield United.
The Blades are under new management with Paul Heckingbottom taking over on an interim basis after the departure of Chris Wilder.
Sheffield United are heading for relegation and not even a shock win this afternoon will be enough.
But can the visitors dent Brendan Rodgers’ side’s Champions League hopes?

    FULL TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 1-2 BRIGHTON
A BIG win for Brighton as they claim their first league win in six matches.
Graham Potter’s side have moved three points clear of the bottom three and jumped above Newcastle in the battle to avoid the drop.
Brighton opened the scoring through Lewis Dunk’s thumping header but Che Adams’ strike levelled the match.
But the Seagulls found another gear and claimed the winner in the 56th minute when Leandro Trossard fired home.
The Saints could not find an equaliser and it is a huge result for Brighton as they claim a sixth win of the season.

    SOUTHAMPTON 1-2 BRIGHTON
Brighton are back in front with a superbly crafted goal. Danny Welbeck lays the ball off to Leandro Trossard and he fires his effort past Fraser Forster.
Can Graham Potter’s side hold on to their lead this time? It could be a massive three points for the side in the battle to stay up.

    JACKETT OFF
Kenny Jackett is no longer Portsmouth manager after the League One club sacked him today.
Jackett leaves after almost four years with Pompey and a day after the side were beaten on penalties by Salford in the delayed 2020 Papa John’s Trophy final.
A run of one win in seven league games has forced the board to act with the side two points off the play-off spots.
Chief executive Mark Catlin told the club website: “Portsmouth would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Kenny for the work he has done during his near four-year spell at the club and we all wish him well for the future.
“It has been an emotional past few weeks for everyone associated with Pompey and we now begin the process – which will be as short as possible – of appointing someone who we believe can give us the best chance of finishing inside the top six. These talks begin today.”

Kenny Jackett has been sacked by Portsmouth

    SOUTHAMPTON 1 BRIGHTON 1
That didn’t last long! Brighton just cannot hold onto a lead and Southampton have levelled the contest.
Ryan Bertrand’s header is deflected into the path of Che Adams and he lashes a volley into the net.
Excellent finish from Adams which gave Robert Sanchez no chance.

Che Adams celebrates volleying in the Saints’ equaliser

    SOUTHAMPTON 0-1 BRIGHTON
We have our first goal of the day and Brighton have opened the scoring against Southampton.
Lewis Dunk powers a header from a corner into the net to give Graham Potter’s side a vital lead.
Brighton have dropped 17 points from winning positions this season, including last week against Leicester, so this one is far from over.

Lewis Dunk powers his header into the net

    SOUTHAMPTON v BRIGHTON
The first Premier League game of the day is just about to get underway as rivals Southampton host Brighton.
It is a very important game for the Seagulls with the visitors only above the relegation zone on goal difference.
Graham Potter’s side have won plenty of plaudits for their style of football but points are all that matters and Brighton badly need a win.

    GINI’S OUT
Barcelona believe they have all but secured the signing of Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum with the deal reportedly ’95 per cent done’.
Wijnaldum has been one of the stars of Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield revolution but looks certain to depart on a free transfer this summer.
The 30-year-old’s contract expires in June and Liverpool chiefs have not been able to agree new terms with the Holland international.
Wijnaldum claimed this week he would be upset to leave Liverpool but it seems inevitable he will move on this summer.
Speaking this week, the midfielder said: “It’s not as easy as everyone thinks it is to make some decisions about your future.
“You have to think about everything and then first negotiate with the clubs and it’s so difficult and it’s why it takes so long.”

Georginio Wijnaldum looks set to leave Liverpool this summer

    REDKNAPP ON BALE
Harry Redknapp has been offering his views on Gareth Bale and thinks the Tottenham star will be a huge threat to Arsenal in the North London derby.
Bale has rediscovered top form in the last month and could be unleashed against the Gunners this afternoon.
Redknapp said: “With Gareth playing like he is, you see that Tottenham forward line and if you’re in the opposition dressing room you’re thinking, ‘Bloody hell, this is going to be a tough day’.
“There’s Gareth, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dele Alli, Lucas Moura… that’s as good an attacking line-up as any in the country.
“The Arsenal back four will be looking at them ahead of the game and wondering how they’ll cope, because it’s been hard work for them at times this season.
“It’s not as though home advantage counts for a great deal at the moment.”

Gareth Bale could light up the North London derby

    THE RIGHT TUCH
Thomas Tuchel has come up with a clever ‘secret’ trick to fool the opponents of Chelsea.
The German tells players to use code words when they attack, so that his men know where to run when they are going forward — and who to aim for.
It is a system that includes a group of these key ‘triggers’ to let Blues stars know what side they will go down, whether the ball is put in high or low and even if it is long or short.
It seems to be paying off with Chelsea unbeaten in 12 matches since his arrival.
The Blues were well below their best yesterday but still managed to claim a 0-0 draw at Leeds.

Thomas Tuchel’s secret ‘tricks’ are paying off at Chelsea

    NO WILD DECISIONS
Paul Heckingbottom will get the chance to steer Sheffield United to safety and the FA Cup final with Jason Tindall to join as his sidekick.
Heckingbottom is to run the Blades side for the rest of the campaign after the departure of Chris Wilder, with no plans for a new manager before the summer.
The new management pair have an uphill task to stay up but they do have a shot at FA Cup glory, with United in the quarter finals.
Their first task will be this afternoon with the bottom side away to Leicester City.
The Blades appear doomed to relegation with a return to the Championship looking a certainty.

    KEANE AS MUSTARD
Roy Keane is plotting a return to management and has his eyes on the Celtic job.
The Manchester United and Republic of Ireland legend is up for the task of taking on Steven Gerrard’s Rangers if the call comes.
The Parkhead post is right up his street because of his strong links to the club.
The former Bhoys midfielder, 49, was offered the job before and declined, but he would say yes this time — and that might fit with Celtic’s requirements.
Senior Celtic chiefs want to keep the existing coaching staff and put a ‘figurehead’ in charge. Keane does not have a backroom team that he uses, so that would be ideal.

    SUPER SUNDAY
Today’s Premier League fixtures, with West Ham’s trip to Old Trafford capping a busy day of action.
    Southampton vs Brighton (noon)
    Leicester vs Sheff Utd (2pm)
    Arsenal vs Tottenham (4.30pm)
Man Utd vs West Ham (7.15pm)

    ON GAARD
Mikel Arteta has a fully-fit squad to choose from for this afternoon’s north London derby with Tottenham.
Arsenal secured a 3-1 away win over Olympiacos in the Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday to take a commanding lead back to the Emirates Stadium.
The impressive result means Arteta should be able to rest several key players for next week’s second leg.
As a result, the Arsenal boss may be tempted to name an unchanged side against Spurs but Nicolas Pepe could replace Willian out wide.

How Arsenal could line up against Spurs

    GOOD MORNING FOOTY FANS
Paul Heckingbottom will get the chance to steer Sheffield United to safety and the FA Cup final – with Jason Tindall joining as his sidekick.
Heckingbottom will run the Blades side for the rest of the campaign after Chris Wilder’s departure, with no plans for a new manager before the summer.
And former Bournemouth boss Tindall, axed after just half a season in charge, and Alan Knill will partner him at the helm at Bramall Lane.
His appointment will spark talk of Eddie Howe coming in as manager down the line, but insiders reveal that is not currently part of the plan.
Meanwhile, SunSport can exclusively reveal that Man Utd’s new technical team will hold a transfer summit with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this week to nail down their targets for the summer.
Top of the list is a new centre-forward.
Edinson Cavani will not be offered an extension to his current one-year deal while a decision will be made on whether to accept offers for Anthony Martial.
A new central midfielder is also wanted, with Nemanja Matic likely to be allowed to leave.
The club are looking to bring in someone to provide cover at right-back.
And a new top-class centre-back is also wanted to come in alongside Harry Maguire.
There is also likely to be discussion about the goalkeeping team.
Finally, we can also reveal Roy Keane wants the Celtic manager’s job — and a sensational return to Scottish football.
The United and Republic of Ireland legend is up for the task of taking on Steven Gerrard’s Rangers if the call comes.
The Parkhead post is right up his street because of his strong allegiance to the club.

Man Utd’s new technical team will hold a transfer summit with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this week to nail down their targets for the summer.
Top of the list is a new centre-forward who will finally end the long search for a recognised goalscorer at Old Trafford.
Edinson Cavani will not be offered an extension to his current one-year deal while a decision will be made on whether to accept offers for Anthony Martial.
A new central midfielder is also wanted, with Nemanja Matic likely to be allowed to leave.
The reliance on Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back has been shown this season and the club are looking to bring in someone else to provide cover in that position.
And a new top-class centre-back is also wanted to come in alongside Harry Maguire.
There is also likely to be discussion about the goalkeeping team.

A baffled rival told SunSport: “You have no idea what’s going on but they know exactly what they are doing.

    CITY SLICKERS
Man City pulled 17 points ahead of Man United at the top of the table thanks to a 3-0 win at Fulham.
It was all square going into the second half when John Stones put City ahead in the 47th minute.
Subsequent strikes from Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero sealed the win for Pep Guardiola’s men.
But United have two games in hand to play, starting with Champions League hopefuls West Ham on Sunday.

    KAI IN THE SKY
Chelsea star Kai Havertz could be used as a striker by manager Thomas Tuchel on a more regular basis.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw at Leeds, Tuchel said: “I feel Kai is very comfortable in high positions, to drop into half spaces from the high positions to turn and drive with the ball and use his speed.
“But he also arrives very naturally in the box to finish our attacks. He is comfortable in finishing.
“He can play as a No9, as a half striker or a winger. Today we used him as a No9.
“I am happy, unfortunately he could not finish like he finishes in training or his talent allows him to finish. I trust him in this position.”

Kai Havertz could become Chelsea’s main striker

    MAN FOR MAN
Man Utd will go head to head with Chelsea in a summer transfer battle for Roma’s Gianluca Mancini, according to reports.
The Roma centre-back, 24, is set to be available for a cut-price fee of £27million when the market reopens due to the financial impact of coronavirus.
And according to the Express, that could tempt the Premier League giants to fight it out for his signature.

    WILD THING

The Blades sit bottom of the Premier League table and look destined to return to the Championship.

    TEAM NEWS
Man Utd’s injury crisis could see Amad Diallo make his Premier League debut against West Ham.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be forced to turn to the 18-year-old once with Anthony Martial a major doubt.
Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani are also unavailable for the crunch clash tomorrow.

How Man Utd could face West Ham

    BOBBY DAZZLER
Robert Lewandowski became the joint-second highest Bundesliga scorer of all time with a goal in Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over Werder Bremen.
The 32-year-old moved level with former Schalke man Klaus Fischer on 268 goals with a close-range finish after a defensive mix-up.
But he is still some way off breaking the record as German legend Gerd Muller remains 97 goals in front on a remarkable 365.
Lewandowski’s 268 Bundesliga goals – of which 74 were for Borussia Dortmund and 194 for Bayern – have come in 345 appearances, 190 fewer than Fischer.
However, if he is to equal the all-time record in fewer games than Muller then he will have to net the 97 goals required in just 81 matches.

Robert Lewandowski is now the joint-second highest Bundesliga scorer ever

    UNDER THE ARCH
Ryan Giggs was in attendance as Salford City defeated Portsmouth in the EFL Trophy final at Wembley Stadium.
The Wales manager is currently on ‘special leave’ from his main job, as an alleged assault on his ex-partner is investigated
He was joined in the stands by Manchester United pals and fellow Salford investors Gary Neville and Paul Scholes – as well as another former team-mate in Roy Keane for the Pompey clash.

    TOFF SITUATION
Everton fell further behind in the top four race as they lost 2-1 at home to Burnley.
Goals from Chris Wood and Dwight McNeil sealed an important victory for the Clarets.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was on target for the Toffees but they are now five points off a Champions League spot.
Meanwhile, Burnley have pulled seven points clear of the drop zone.

    GLOVES ARE OFF
David de Gea could replace Dean Henderson in goal for Man Utd tomorrow after returning to England following the birth of his daughter in Spain.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed: “Yeah, David is back in Manchester. He is quarantining or self isolating.
“He’s just touch and go for Sunday, I think. I can’t really know when he came back.
“So I’m not really sure if it was Monday or Tuesday that he arrived back in Manchester.”

    GUNNING FOR CASH
Ex-Arsenal boss George Graham believes Mikel Arteta needs a £200MILLION transfer kitty to make the Gunners competitive again.
He told the Express: “They have got problems, but they can rectify them with three players.
“Arteta is doing a very good job. But while he has improved the players, he has only improved them to a certain point.
“They need to go out and buy two or three players, each costing £75m to £100m.”

    LIFE ON MARS
Man Utd have suffered a transfer blow after scout Mathieu Seckinger quit for Marseille, according to reports.
The French club have already poached two members of United’s scouting team in David Friio and Omar Sciolla.
And now they’ve made it hat-trick as Marseille’s Head of Football Pablo Longoria transforms the backroom staff.
Seckinger spent five years with the Red Devils and was recently promoted to first-team scout after years as a Academy Youth Scout.
He was responsible for picking out youngsters Aliou Traore, Noam Emeran, Hannibal Mejbri and Willy Kambwala.

    CRIS THE REDEEMER
Cristiano Ronaldo wants to make a sensational return to Real Madrid, according to reports.
The Portuguese icon left the Spanish capital three years ago, joining Juventus for £85million.
But according to Diario AS, he wants to make a remarkable return to Santiago Bernabeu.
Ronaldo scored 450 goals in 438 games for Madrid, while winning two league titles and four Champions Leagues.
And Juventus are ready to let him go for just £25m.

    TU BLUE IT
Chelsea made it a dozen games unbeaten under Thomas Tuchel with a 0-0 draw at Leeds.
But the Blues blew the chance to move third in the table.
And the big worry is that their Champions League spot is under increased threat as a result.

    PER SHAPED
Andreas Pereira will reportedly look to quit Man United this summer.
The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Serie A side Lazio and is hoping to make the move permanent.
But ESPN understand that Pereira will try to force a move elsewhere even if Lazio do not agree to a permanent deal.
Fellow Italian clubs Napoli and Atalanta are also said to be interested in securing the Brazilian’s services.

    EDEN ON UP
Eden Hazard returned to Real Madrid action during Saturday’s last-gasp win over Elche.
The injury-prone former Chelsea superstar had missed the last seven matches with a knock.
In total, he’s managed just 35 matches since his £150million move and has missed 24 games alone this term.
But Hazard clocked up 15 minutes from the bench as Karim Benzema’s 91st minute strike handed Real a narrow 2-1 victory.

    ‘STAND TALL’
Wilfried Zaha has become the first Premier League player not to take the knee before a game.
Zaha stayed standing while the rest of the players knelt before Crystal Palace’s 1-0 win against West Brom.
He released a statement before kick-off, saying: “I feel kneeling has just become a part of the pre-match routine and at the moment it doesn’t matter whether we kneel or stand, some of us still continue to receive abuse.
“I now just want to focus on football and enjoy being back playing on the pitch. I will continue to stand tall.”

    BEN AND GONE
Harry Maguire has asked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign Brighton defender Ben White, according to reports.
According to The Transfer Window podcast, Maguire has told his manager he would like to play alongside an English-speaking centre back who understands the culture of Premier League football and will complement his game.
It is believed one of the players mentioned in this discussion was White, who has attracted many plaudits while playing for Brighton this season and Leeds the year before.

    HEAD START
Arsenal flop Shkodran Mustafi scored a comical own-goal for new club Schalke today in a 5-0 defeat at Wolfsburg.
And the Germans are now without a win in five games since his February 1 arrival from the Emirates.
Schalke’s hammering at Wolfsburg leaves them rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga table.
And it’s a long way back up with NINE points separating them from safety.

    NO FOUR-GONE CONCLUSION
Paul Merson believes Chelsea have what it takes to finish in the Premier League’s top four.
But Merson insists Champions League qualification is in no way guaranteed.
The Arsenal legend told Sky Sports: “Chelsea are now in pole position to finish in the top four after a big week of results, but it is not a foregone conclusion. They have to keep producing right until the end of the season.
“There are not too many concerns about injuries at the moment. They have a really good squad and we’ve seen it utilised in the last few weeks by [Thomas] Tuchel. [N’Golo] Kante and [Mason] Mount were rested on Monday, Olivier Giroud is on the bench too and Tammy Abraham is not even getting a look in.
“It’s far from job done, though. They need to keep this run going because we’ve already seen this season that things can change very quickly.”

    OLE GLORY
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that he would be keen to have Cristiano Ronaldo in his squad.
This comes after recent reports suggesting Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes “offered” his client back to United and urged executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to make an offer last summer.
A move never materialised but Solskjaer revealed during a Q&A with the club’s official website that the star forward would be among the legends he would love to have in his squad.
The United manager said: “I’d love the player Roy Keane, I’m not sure if I could manage him though.
“I’d sign him every day of the week, Roy was so influential but then again, I played with Cristiano and he’s been the best player in the world alongside Messi for the past 10-15 years now, so Cristiano.
“You’d take him in your team, for sure.”

    BARC AGAIN
Borussia Dortmund megastar Erling Haaland might be the hottest transfer target of the upcoming summer market.
Manchester United are among the clubs most interested in landing Haaland, who has been in tremendous form this season with 31 goals in 29 matches across all competitions.
But United are facing stiff competition with Barcelona set to make room for the star centre-forward.
As mentioned below, that is why Barca are trying to offload a number of players ahead of the end of the season and ex-Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho is among them.
According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal appear especially interested in signing Coutinho as manager Mikel Arteta is in dire need of an experienced attacking midfielder

    THAT’S ALL FROM ELLAND ROAD
Sadly the boys kind of let us down today because we didn’t see the goal-fest that was hoped for but it was still entertaining.
Leeds actually had the ball in the back of the net within the first ten minutes but Bamford received the ball in an offside position so it was rightfully ruled out.
After that slight scare, Chelsea began to take control of the half by popping the ball around and fashioning a few chances themselves.
However, the Whites were the ones who almost handed the lead to them when Luke Ayling struck the ball off Diego Llorente trying to make a clearance which then deflected onto their own crossbar and gracefully fell in the hands of Meslier.
Tyler Roberts evened up the crossbar score moments later when he watched his looped effort tipped onto the woodwork by Mendy.
The second half saw a lot of attacking intent but it lacked that real quality in the final third from both sides.
But Mendy was forced into making an acrobatic stop to keep the home side at bay.
So Chelsea’s unbeaten run under Thomas Tuchel stretches to 12 in all competitions and Leeds pick up their first draw in 18 matches.
Thanks for sticking with me everyone and enjoy the rest of your weekend family!

    UPCOMING FIXTURES
    Next up for Chelsea?
The Blues welcome struggling sides Sheffield United and West Brom to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League before a trip across London to Crystal Palace.
However on Wednesday, Thomas Tuchel’s men have that all important second leg against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

    CURRENT LEAGUE STANDINGS
A stalemate means that Leeds stay in 11th but close the gap on Arsenal to two points.
As for the Blues, they climb a little closer to Leicester but miss out on the chance to go 3rd.
And the top of the table is so tight that if the three teams below Chelsea all win this weekend, Thomas Tuchel’s men can drop to 7th!

    AYLING’S ANALYSIS
The Leeds defender discussing the chances in the match and letting the media know that his side are satisfied with a 0-0 draw.
Ayling said: “It’s a fair result and I think there weren’t many chances in the game. We tried to press them high up the pitch and make it hard for them.
“We broke the press a few times but they weren’t many chances I don’t think.
“If you look at the chances then our chance was probably the best chance of the game where Raph [Raphinha] on other days probably would have scored it.
“A real sloppy game for both teams but a good point for us.”

    THE GOAL HAS BEEN MENDED
Another game and another clean sheet for that man in the Chelsea goal. He has been a inspiration to his side.

    FULL TIME STATS
The Blues continued to dominate possession and quite frankly every other statistic but Leeds stayed strong and was able to leave Elland Road with a point.

    TUCHEL’S THOUGHTS
The Chelsea boss ruing the chances that his side missed today but mentions that he doesn’t want to be too harsh on the players.
Tuchel said: “We had a couple of chances to go 1-0 ahead but in the end they trouble you and put pressure on you and the more minutes you need to make a goal, the more they believe.
“There were enough chances but sometimes it’s like this so I don’t want to be too harsh.
“It happens sometimes that it’s hard to score, you miss some big chances and it ends up with a zero zero.”
“As long as we have chances as long as we have a lot of touches in the box and we don’t concede too many chances, the results will be there.”

    EXCITING STALEMATE
It’s been over four years since we witnessed a goal-less draw in the Premier League with 12 shots on target.

There were 12 shots on target in Leeds vs. Chelsea, the most in a Premier League game without a goal since October 2016 (Man Utd vs. Burnley, also 12).One of the more exciting goalless draws we’ll see this season. pic.twitter.com/wwk4NAYS5M

    NO BREAKTHROUGH AT ELLAND ROAD
It had the quality to be a firecracker but a draw is the right result. Leeds will definitely be the happier of the two.

👏 Clean sheet and solid performance from the lads!
    — Leeds United (@LUFC) March 13, 2021

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
    YEP THAT’S IT!
    NO GOALS IN THIS ONE!
    BUT ENETERTAINING NEVERTHELESS!
    FT: LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
90+2. The ball was put right in the mixer by Reece James but it was a poor header from Werner.
And that should be enough to see Leeds have their first draw in 18 matches.. yes 18!

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
90+1. Corner for Chelsea in the dying stages.
Can the Blues capitalise on what is an achilles heel for Leeds this season having conceded to 14 set pieces?

    THREE MINUTES OF ADDITIONAL TIME!

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    85. Lovely drop of the shoulder and shot by Callum Hudson-Odoi but again, the effort was tamed and was directed straight at the goalkeeper.
It’s been the story of the game for both teams so far, a lot of attacking intent but a real lack in quality in the final third.

    MAD MARCELO
When Marcelo Bielsa is up on his feet, he’s not happy if you couldn’t tell. As a matter of fact, he was just heard shouting in Spanish, that says it all.

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    80. Callum Hudson-Odoi has been sent on to replace Mason Mount.
    Can he save the day?

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    78. And Surprisingly, that was Rodrigo’s last bit of action because he has been subbed off for Klich in what seems to be tactical.
Meaning that the sub has been subbed which is the second time that has happened to him this season.

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    77. Free header for Rodrigo but he directed it straight into the hands of Mendy.
That could of been the breakthrough.

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    76. That deflection could of gone anywhere!
Leeds put some good play of their own together which resulted in Ayling having a shot but Reece James put his body on the line to get the ball clear.
    Corner for the home side.

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    72. Even Rudiger is getting on the shooting act now and it seems as if he’s been given the license to go further up the field now.
But Meslier had the shot covered.

    BATTLE UNTIL THE END
This is turning into one of those games where the first goal could be the winner.

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    69. Luke Ayling is back on the field so it wasn’t as fearful as first thought for Marcelo Bielsa and his side.

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    68. Whilst Ayling is being treated to, Thomas Tuchel has made some changes of his own.
Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech have been replaced by Reece James and Timo Werner.

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    65. This is strange.
Luke Ayling has gone down injured and is receiving medical treatment after a clash with Rudiger.
However at first it seemed as if he was laughing and joking but now it could be serious.

    LEEDS 0-0 CHELSEA
    64. Another roll of the dice from Marcelo Bielsa as he brings on Helder Costa for Jack Harrison.
Tuchel might be thinking of doing the same as he sends Werner and Giroud to warm up.

Steve Bruce says his team were unlucky to go behind against Aston Villa but heaped praise on his side for showing enough desire to keep in it and get the late equaliser.
And asked about Newcastle’s chances of survival, he said: “I’m still convinced we’ll be ok.”

“I’m still convinced we’ll be OK.””Managing Newcastle is always difficult. There’s a huge spotlight, we’ve got a magnificent support which is demanding, of course, and that’s the way it should be.”Steve Bruce reflects on the draw against Aston Villa…🎙 @TheQuirkmeister pic.twitter.com/iBTu3e6Oo8
    — Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) March 12, 2021

    MATCH REPORT
Captain fantastic Jamaal Lascelles nodded home a dramatic injury-time leveller to keep Steve Bruce alive and kicking.
Ciaran Clark’s 86th minute own-goal left Newcastle deep in the mire against Aston Villa.
The calls for Mike Ashley to sack Bruce by the end of the night would have been deafening.
But Lascelles headed Jacob Murphy’s cross in with the last touch of the game to keep Bruce, the great survivor, just about afloat.
A point beforehand would not have been good enough, while defeat could have been critical for the Toon boss.
Instead, a last-gasp equaliser might just give them the momentum they need to pull themselves out of danger with 10 games to go.

    ‘WE WERE THE BETTER TEAM’
Newcastle’s late goal hero Jamaal Lascelles says the Magpies were the better team and deserved to win.

“Over the course of the game I wouldn’t say it was a fair result. I thought we were the better team, I thought we had the better chances.””We would have been devastated if we lost.”Jamaal Lascelles speaks to @TheQuirkmeister after a dramatic finish at St. James’ Park. pic.twitter.com/IyllZTmfAH

    FULL-TIME STAT ATTACK!
Villa edged it on the stats table.
But the scores finished level and that’s all that matters.

    FULL-TIME!
    And breathe!
Lascelles’ equaliser was virtually the last kick off the game.
And it was well deserved as a draw was a fair result.

    NEWCASTLE 1 – 1 ASTON VILLA
90+4. Justice is done as Newcastle did not deserve to lose this.
A cross from the right goes all the way through to the far side.
Willock picks up the ball on the left touchline, he launches an in-swinger into the box and Lasclles meets it at the near post and powers a header past Martinez into the top of the net.
A dramatic finish to a really entertaining game.

    GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL – LASCELLES!
    WHAT DRAMA!!!!!!!
    1-1!!!!

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 1 ASTON VILLA
90+3. Newcastle throwing the kitchen sink at Villa as they hunt for the equaliser.

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 1 ASTON VILLA
    CHANCE!
90+1. Villa counter-attack as Newcastle commit men forward.
Barkley draws the defender in before playing in El Ghazi down the right channel.
He cuts inside onto his right and forces a smart save from Dubravka with a low drive.

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 1 ASTON VILLA
    FOUR MINUTES OF STOPPAGE TIME
And as we enter time added on, I can tell you Villa’s goal has been officially given as a Clark own-goal.

    SUB – NEWCASTLE!
    CARROLL ON
    FRASER OFF

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 1 ASTON VILLA
    85. Absolutely rotten luck for Newcastle and they do not deserve that.
Targett swings a cross in from wide on the left.
The ball is just behind him but he stoops and gets his head on it.
And it deflects off Clark’s knee which fools Dubravka and spins up and in off the crossbar.

    GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLL – WATKINS!
    ASTON VILLA GO 1-0 UP!

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 0 ASTON VILLA
    83. Mings has another mare as he goes for a header and manages to clear out fellow Villan Targett.
Both men go down and need treatment. Mings appears to have hurt his hand in the landing. Targett appears to have hurt his entire body.
But they get up and the game carries on.

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 0 ASTON VILLA
    NEWCASTLE HIT THE BAR!
    81. Fantastic play from Murphy.
Receives the ball just inside Villa’s box.
Turns on a six-pence taking two Villa defenders out the game.
Bends a right footed effort toward the top right corner, beats Martinez but sees it come crashing back off the bar.
    Dreadfully unlucky.

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 0 ASTON VILLA
    80. Ten minutes to go.
Villa have really turned the screw here.
The introduction of Sanson and Barkley has made a real difference.
    Right I’m trying this again…
Goal in the next 15 minutes, you mark my words!

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 0 ASTON VILLA
    BOOKING – MINGS!
    77. Hahaha!
I’m not sure Joelinton has ever had the better of a defender as much as he has with Tyrone Mings tonight.
Delicate turn by the Brazilian as Newcastle try to break again, Mings leaves a lazy leg trailing and trips the forward.

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 0 ASTON VILLA
    76. Remeber 15 minutes ago when I said: “Goal in the next 15 minutes, you mark my words!”
    Well I lied.

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 0 ASTON VILLA
    76. BOOKING – SANSON!

    73. BOOKING – McGINN!
Scot shown a yellow for hauling back Willock in the middle of the park.

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 0 ASTON VILLA
    72. CHANCE!
    Joelinton MUST do better there.
He is played in by Willock down the right hand channel and breaks into the box with the goal begging to be shot at.
But whether it’s no confidence just terrible decision making, he tries to cut it back but it’s easily cleared by the pack of Villa players chasing back.
    Should do better.

    NEWCASTLE 0 – 0 ASTON VILLA
    69. CHANCE!
Ryan Fraser cuts in from the left after Newcastle win it back midway inside Villa’s half.
He tries to bend one into the top corner but it’s blocked.

    REACTION FROM MOURINHO
The Spurs boss told BT Sport:
“If before the game you asked me is 2-0 a good result I would say yes, 2-0 at home is always a good result, to win with a clean sheet and two goals is a good result but, it’s only a good result if we do the job there.
“They’re a difficult team, at home they will feel much more comfortable to have a go, they have nothing to lose so its going to be a difficult match for us.
(On Kane) “He is doing everything, he’s doing the striker’s job of scoring goals, he creating space and linking play, he’s doing extra work which not many strikers do.
“This was a very important match, we want to qualify for the quarters.”

    REACTION FROM ZORAN MAMIC
“Congratulations to Tottenham. They took the chances. Harry Kane showed us once again what a master of football he is.
“We played a solid game but we could have done better in attack. Spurs played an aggressive game and won the ball back to attack.
“Tottenham attacking have really good players. They are really fast. The wingers and midfielders want the ball all the time.
“Kane showed us what a master he is. The first one was an easy one but the second one he calmed the situation and his shot was impossible to defend.”

    KANE IS IN STELLAR COMPANY

The Spurs skipper told BT Sport:
“Clean sheet is a satisfaction. It is good for us. 2-0 is a good result.
