    ARTETA WARNS GUNNERS
Mikel Arteta insists tomorrow’s Europa League last-16 clash with Olympiakos is far from resolved despite Arsenal’s 3-1 first-leg win at the Emirates.
The Gunenrs boss said: “It’s a good time for everybody, it is a really important game for us.
“We know it is going to be tough and everyone has to be ready.”
“Everyone is more or less okay. We have a few doubts but hopefully everyone will be involved in the squad.”
POGBA, DE GEA FIT TO RETURN
David de Gea and Paul Pogba are fit to return for United’s Europa League last-16 away tie with AC Milan following the 1-1 first leg draw.
But striker Edinson Cavani misses out after initial hopes he would make it.
And despite De Gea’s availability, Dean Henderson will hope to keep his place.

    REFFING DISGRACE
A referee was forced to abandon a match and run off the pitch after being attacked by players.
The Bulgarian fourth tier game was halted, as the shocking footage reveals, after the ref was abused and chased off the pitch.
The referee comes under attack by players
The official is forced to run away from the players
Some of the players reacted aggressively to the ref and the official decided he had seen enough.
One player pushed the ref and he responded by pulling out a yellow card. But the players continued to chase him and the ref was forced to run off the pitch.
Some staff members also got involved in the chase and the ref ran for cover as headed into the car park. At one stage a staff member kicks a ball in the direction of the terrified official.
In 2018 a referee was chased by a footballer in Venezuela and wrestled to the ground before being kicked in the head.
But fortunately the ref in Bulgaria managed to get to safety after reacting quickly to the unrest on the pitch.

Mauro Icardi has sex with wife Wanda Nara 12 times a DAY, according to a rumour shared by Daniele Adani.
Former Italian centre-back Adani featured on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel and the pair discussed footballers’ sex lives.
Mauro Icardi has sex with wife Wanda Nara 12 times a day, according to a rumour shared by Daniele Adani
PSG striker Mauro Icardi is married to Argentine Wanda Nara
They revealed a rumour that PSG striker Icardi and fellow Argentine Wanda have sex up to 12 times a day.
Wanda, who is also her husband’s agent, has not been shy about revealing secrets to their life in the bedroom before.
She once hit back at trolls and said she performs oral sex on Icardi every night.
Wanda was also asked last year about her thoughts on Antonio Conte’s claims that footballers should make as little effort as possible during sex.
Nara said: “I do not know what to say. He should try it before a match but Mauro is very professional and does not do anything before a match.
“Only after and if the match went well. If it does not go well, he does not even want to look at me.”
    WEIGHT HAZARD
This is the shock moment a journalist was kicked off a Spanish television show for calling Eden Hazard ‘fat’.
Jorge D’Alessandro was told to leave the room by ‘El Chiringuito de Jugones’ host Josep Pedredol.
A journalist was kicked off a Spanish television show in dramatic fashion
The reporter labelled Real Madrid playmaker Eden Hazard ‘fat’
It came after the reporter called Real Madrid playmaker Hazard ‘fat’ on air.
The show was broadcast during Real’s victory over Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The panel were discussing team selections and options – and Hazard wasn’t even involved.
The Belgian has struggled with injuries ever since sealing his £130m move from Chelsea in 2019.
He admitted he reported for pre-season training in the Spanish capital five kilos overweight.
Hazard told L’Equipe: “[My weight?] I don’t hide it. When I am on vacation, I am on vacation. I am someone who takes weight fast and loses it fast.
“When I was in Lille at 18, I weighed 72 kilos. Afterwards, I gained muscle mass up to 75 kilos. On a bad day I weigh 77 kilos, but weighed 80 this summer. I lost everything in ten days.”
    MARC MY WORDS
Marcus Rashford is determined to play through the pain barrier and delay a shoulder operation until after the Euros.
He said: “To be honest I just focus on the next game at hand and that’s just the way I deal with it. What’s needed after we will deal with that. My main focus is just being available for the games.”
Rashford has missed only one of United’s 45 games this season but the 23-year-old insists he is not at risk of burnout and that time for a rest will come when he is retired.
The striker added: “I know my body and I know what I can do physically and that’s it. I take one game at a time it’s the life of a footballer, we can rest when we retire and for now I’m happy playing as many games as I can.
“I recover from games quite well and from injuries well, I have no doubts or fears.”
    TUCH NO PRISONERS
Thomas Tuchel told Chelsea he needed the freedom to make any changes he wanted before agreeing to take over, according to reports.
ESPN reports the German told Stamford Bridge chief Marina Granovskaia he needed to be free to pick and drop players as he sees fit.
The former PSG boss was clear in his desire for free rein over team selection.
Tuchel is said to have wanted to be able to put big-money signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner on the bench when he felt appropriate.
And he also wanted to bring back Antonio Rudiger and Marcos Alonso after the pair were axed by predecessor Frank Lampard.
    OLE TRAFFORD
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says trophies are for egos and it is the league which shows real progress for a team.
He said: “We are 12 points ahead of what we were at the same time in the league last season, of course we’re aiming to win trophies but as we’ve said sometimes a trophy can hide the other fact of what’s happening at the club.
“In the league position you see if you’re progressing really and sometimes in the cup tournaments you might be lucky or unlucky with draws, games decided on different factors.
“In the league position you see if there’s any progress for me, that’s always the bread and butter of the season, that you see how capable you are of coping with ups and downs.
“Any cup competition can give you a trophy but sometimes it’s more of an ego thing from other managers and clubs to finally win something.
“But we need to see progress and if we perform well enough the trophies will end up at the club again. It’s not like a trophy will say that we’re back, no.”
    KANE IS ABLE
Jose Mourinho hopes England boss Gareth Southgate and Harry Kane can reach a “compromise” to protect the Spurs star on World Cup duty next week.
He said: “I cannot do Gareth’s work and he doesn’t try to do mine. But I believe he has good relations with Harry and good relations means good communication.
“I hope between them without me in the middle, they can find some compromise to protect the player a little bit.”
Before adding: “I have no control. If I could choose I would love them all to go because I love my players to be involved in national teams.
“It’s a question of pride for them and it’s good for the club so we like the players to go. But of course if we could choose we wouldn’t like the players to play three matches.
“But it’s not in our hands, it’s in the hands of the international managers. There is nothing we can say.
    SCOT OF BOTHER
Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan believes England’s U21 team can beat Scotland’s first XI and Mason Greenwood is better than any of their players.
The outspoken pundit was reacting to Che Adams being called up for Scotland.
Jordan told talkSPORT: “What are you thinking? Do you really want to be part of that debacle of Scotland at the Euros?!
“He’s thinking, ‘where am I guaranteed to play because the quality is so low that I’ll get in every time the squad is picked’?
“I’m not disrespectful about Scotland, I’m honest. I’ve said before that England Under-21s could beat Scotland’s first team, and I don’t climb down from that.
“Look at the quality of our U21s, I think that is genuinely true. Mason Greenwood is better than anything you’ve got in your first XI, better than anything in the Scotland team!”

    MAD TALK
Joao Felix has denied rumours of a rift with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone after he was pictured shushing towards his own bench after scoring against Villarreal last month.
But the creative midfielder insisted it was a joke with a team-mate and he has no problems with his boss.
Felix explained: “I already said on Instagram that it was a joke with Lodi.
“He was winding me up before the game, telling me I didn’t score against anyone and when I got the goal I did the gesture for him. The press like to talk about things they don’t know.”
The 21-year-old added: “My relationship with the manager is very good. He always tries to help me and we’re here to help each other.
“I am happy here. My family is fine, I am fine, I am fine with the club and like with all players there are moments that are not so good. They can be overcome.”
    NO WAY, JOSE
Jose Mourinho has delivered an update on the fitness of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League clash against Dynamo Moscow.
Commenting on Kane, Mourinho told reporters: “Kane is going to play.
“The game is open and it’s an important game so he plays for us.”
However the Special insisted Son will play no part after he went off with a hamstring problem against Arsenal.
Asked when Son will be back, Mourinho remarked: “I don’t know. Definitely out for tomorrow.”
    GIFT OF THE GAB
Chelsea reportedly face a battle with Atletico Madrid to sign Palmeiras midfielder Gabriel Menino.
Brazilian outlet UOL reports the 20-year-old is being chased by Atleti but the Blues could have an edge as the Spanish side need to sell a player before they can buy.
The report states Diego Simeone’s team need to ‘balance their accounts’ in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Menino is said to have been valued at between £13-£18million by the LaLiga leaders.

    DOR SLAMMED
Luis Figo left Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland out of his list of the best six players in the world.
Haaland, 20, has announced himself as one of the elite talents on the planet this season with an outstanding 31 goals in 30 games for the German side.
But Portuguese legend Figo omitted the Norwegian from his list of current best players.
According to Los Blancos Live, when asked for his thoughts on who are the top players right now, Figo named six stars.
He said: “Cristiano, Messi, Modrić, Salah, Mbappe and Neymar.”
    T-EDEN PROJECT
Man Utd starlet Teden Mengi has signed a new three-year deal at the club until June 2024.
The 18-year-old defender made his senior debut in the Europa League last season.
Mengi was promoted to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team squad at the start of this season.
He joined Wayne Rooney’s Derby in January to gain more experience after playing ten times for the Red Devils’ Under-23s in the first half of the season.
Mengi has already starred six times for Rooney’s Rams.
The young centre-back has been at Old Trafford since the age of seven, coming through the academy and captaining age group sides through the ranks.

    AL TAKE IT
Alan Pardew has reportedly expressed an interest in taking the Portsmouth job.
Pompey sacked Kenny Jackett after their EFL Trophy final defeat to Salford at Wembley on Saturday.
And former West Ham and Newcastle boss Pardew, 59, fancies a crack at the Fratton Park gig, according to reliable south coast football journalist Alex Crook.
The TalkSport presenter tweeted: “Am told Alan Pardew and Phil Parkinson have both expressed an interest in the #Pompey job.”
With his side in dire form in League One and slipping out of the play-off places, the Fratton Park board pulled the trigger on Jackett, 59, on Sunday morning.

    BRAIN FEARS
Gary Lineker has said he will get extra checks for dementia and wants heading banned from training at all levels.
Research shows ex-pros are 3.5 times likelier to die from a brain disorder than the general public.
Lineker said: “I’ll have my triannual test this summer and ask if there’s anything they can establish around the brain.
“Because I don’t see how, given the circumstances, any footballer wouldn’t be worried about it.”
He added: “If I’d known what I know now, I would have certainly limited the amount of heading I did.
“It’s hard to imagine the game without heading, but maybe it’s worth trialling.”
    TOP PHWOAR
The Premier League season is racing towards what should be a thrilling finale.
While Manchester City are almost-certain to be crowned champions there is still plenty to play for at both ends of the table.
But above all, the race for the top-four looks set to go down to the wire.
Incredibly, should all teams win their games in hand, there are just 13 points separating second from TENTH.
But who will grab those all-important places? We take a look at each club’s run-in to determine who will make the cut…

    NEW BRU
Man Utd are reportedly targeting Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Goncalves as a half-price alternative to signing Jadon Sancho.
Sporting signed Wolves flop Goncalves in August to fill the void left by Bruno Fernandes’ departure to Old Trafford in January 2020.
And the 22-year-old has bagged 15 goals in just 21 appearances to fire Sporting to the verge of their first league crown for 19 years.
The Telegraph reports United are looking at Goncalves as a cheaper right-sided forward than last year’s No1 target Sancho.
Goncalves’ super form has alerted a number of European giants to his availability for £51.7million, thanks to a buyout clause.
The latest reports from Germany suggest Borussia Dortmund would be willing to sell Sancho, 20, for around £104m this summer.
Triggering Goncalves’ release clause would therefore be more than 50 per cent less expensive than the cost of a successful bid for Three Lions ace Sancho.
Manchester United are lining up Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Goncalves
    NO MOR OF THAT
Mikel Arteta was ‘wrong and disrespectful’ to ‘publicly shame’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after dropping him for the North London derby, according to Piers Morgan.
The Gunners captain turned up late for the 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Tottenham at the Emirates on Sunday and Arteta axed him from the starting XI as a result.
Spaniard Arteta told the media there had been a disciplinary breech but did not go into any more detail.
And former Good Morning Britain presenter and Gunners fan Morgan seems to be channelling the same energy.
Having apparently been stewing on the situation, Morgan tweeted on Tuesday: “The more I think about the Aubameyang/Arteta thing, the less I like it.
“Turning up a bit late shouldn’t warrant being dropped for a NLD, and for our manager to publicly shame our captain & best player in the way he did was wrong & disrespectful. I stand with ⁦@Auba⁩. #afc.”
    HOOP DREAMS
LeBron James has upped his stake in Liverpool after becoming a partner in their American ownership group Fenway.
The basketball superstar, 36, owned a two per cent stake in the Premier League champions since 2011.
But US reports say the NBA great has now also brought an undisclosed number of shares in Fenway Sports Group.
The company also own legendary baseball team Boston Red Sox.
John Henry remains in charge at Fenway Sports with Tom Werner the second largest shareholder.
The pair approved a new £540m investment from RedBird Capital, who became the third largest shareholders in Fenway Sports Group
    LING-LAND STAR
Jesse Lingard is in line for a shock England call-up after his incredible career turnaround on loan at West Ham.
Manager Gareth Southgate will tomorrow name his squad for the forthcoming qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.
Southgate also has a number of injury concerns in midfield which could see him turn to Lingard, 28, who has excelled during his stint on loan after leaving Manchester United.
And this would be a major turnaround for a player whose 24th and final international appearance came against Switzerland in the Uefa Nations League finals in June 2019.
Southgate will name a large squad for the qualifiers which starts against San Marino in eight days.
    GETTING AGGY
Man City star Sergio Aguero was reportedly heard moaning ‘they never pass me the ball’ after his side’s win over Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Argentine played the last 15 minutes of the 2-0 Champions Legaue last-16 second-leg win in Hungary but was allegedly unhappy with his team-mates after the victory.
Aguero replaced Bernardo Silva on 75 minutes with City leading 4-0 on aggregate and the tie already won.
But the 32-year-old failed to register a shot on target until the full-time whistle and was heard grumbling to a coach after the game, according to ESPN.
Aguero is understood to have said in Spanish: “No me pasan la pelota.”
Which translates to: ‘They don’t pass me the ball.”
It is suggested Riyad Mahrez was particularly prone to shooting rather than laying it on for the City legend in the closing stages.
    RETURN OF THE KING
Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United is looking more likely than Real Madrid, according to reports.
The Spanish side are claimed to have given up on bringing Ronaldo back and instead are focussing their attentions on landing Kylian Mbappe.
And Tuttosport in Italy report that Man Utd is looking the more viable option than Real Madrid.
Ronaldo, 36, spent six years at Old Trafford before nine seasons at Real Madrid.
He joined Serie A champions Juventus in 2018 but could be forced to leave this summer with the club facing a financial crisis.
    FER REAL
Rio Ferdinand reckons Man City should forget about Harry Kane and go all out to sign Erling Haaland.
The ex-Manchester United defender thinks Haaland’s age and price tag compared to the Spurs marksman would make him a better choice.
He told BT Sport: “It’s difficult, a season or two ago I think Harry Kane would’ve been their first-choice.
“He can play that number 10, he can come deep, be part of the midfield and create extra numbers in there.
“I think because of the age could be a concern and the price tag.
“When you have people like Haaland, it’s a different proposition in terms of longevity, a player you can build around for a number of years.”

    MORE REACTION FROM PEP
“We now have everybody fit, that’s why we can rotate 6/7 players for most of the games.
“If you want to compete in four competitions you have to rotate, the seasons are so long.
“The last game against Fulham we played with two strikers, today we didn’t play any and in both games the team was solid and they played a good, good game and that’s the most important thing.”

    REACTION FROM PEP
The Man City boss told BT Sport:
“It was a good performance, we had the game under control for 90 minutes.
“The way we played was really, really good, everyone was in their position and we moved the ball around quickly.
“Everyone showed commitment and we’re delighted to be in the next stage.
(On City’s defence) “We’ve conceded just one goal against Porto, thet’s quite impressive, Ruben (Dias) and John (Stones) have made an incredible step forward for the team.
“We defend with the ball that’s the most important thing.”
    REACTION FROM DE BRUYNE
The Man City midfielder told BT Sport:
“Our start obviously helped a lot. We were patient in the beginning, and when we scored the two goals it gave us a bit of a cover.
“We controlled the game and had a few chances in the second half. The second half was a bit less, but that’s understandable.
(on keeping clean sheets) “I think it’s always important when you’re stable as a defence and as a team, it gives the whole team confidence. It’s easy when we don’t conceded first.”

    CLOCK’S TICKING
Thomas Tuchel has warned his struggling strikers they are running out of time to start delivering goals.
Tuchel said: “We create enough chances and half- chances to win games.
“We had by far enough chances, touches in the box and deliveries against Leeds to win this game comfortably with two goals.
“If you arrive at elite football at the highest level then there is no time to perform. The time simply doesn’t exist.
“You are simply in a competition with other players in your team.
“There is no time to get four or five matches in a row to score regularly. That simply does not exist.”
Thomas Tuchel warns his strikers must start scoring goals soon
    FINAL BELL
Dortmund have warned the FA they will block Jude Bellingham from linking up with the England team.
The England camp were on Monday assured by officials at Dortmund that they would be okay to pick Bellingham.
They believed he would not have to quarantine for 14 days when returning to Germany after the three matches.
But after speaking to their local health officials, Dortmund have altered their stance.
And they insisted they would not allow Bellingham to join up with the England squad or Gio Reyna with the United States.

Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool players have now got used to their new £50million training ground in Kirkby.
It boasts three full-size pitches, two gyms, a full-size sports hall, pool, hydrotherapy and specialist rehabilitation suites.
A dining room has a balcony overlooking the pitches. There is even a beach volleyball area which the players joke is in tribute to the Brazilians Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino.
But there is one problem with the new HQ — the players hate it.
They would rather be at the famous old Melwood site. There is nothing wrong with the facilities. It is just windy. Really windy.
For the players there is no place like home. That was Melwood.

Mark Halsey has called for delayed offside flag guidelines to be changed — before a player is seriously injured.
Rui Patricio’s head collision with Wolves team-mate Conor Coady in Monday’s 1-0 home loss to Liverpool came as a result of new Premier League rules to enable VAR checks.
The SunSport refereeing expert said: “I have had major concerns with the protocol all season, it’s been an accident waiting to happen.
“Rui Patricio was lucky because the incident looked very serious. If this protocol is not changed now I fear more serious injuries.
“I remember other incidents when Ben Mee and Eric Bailly have suffered injuries  trying to recover to make a last-ditch challenge.
“In those cases the flag did not go up but the  forward was later deemed to be offside.
“Player safety is paramount and we need to learn from what happened to Patricio.”
Mark Halsey has called for delayed offside flag guidelines to be changed
    QUARTER POUNDERS
Manchester City and Real Madrid both booked a place in the Champions League quarters tonight.
City beat Gladbach 2-0 thanks to early goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan, handing them a 4-0 aggregate win.
Meanwhile, Real dismantled Atalanta 3-1 with goals from Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and Marcos Asensio for a 4-1 aggregate victory.

    DOUBLE JOY
Man Utd have received a huge boost as Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani both returned to training today.
The Red Devils face a crucial few days as they travel to AC Milan with the score tied at 1-1 for the second-leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday.
And then they travel to Leicester City for an FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday as they aim to end the season with silverware – as well as Champions League qualification.
Now they have received some positive news on two fronts as both stars took part in this morning’s session at Carrington.
Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani provided a double boost for Man Utd
    BOW RETURN
Lee Bowyer has been confirmed as the new boss of Championship strugglers Birmingham City.
Brum sacked Aitor Karanka after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Bristol City left them 23rd in the second tier.
Now they have turned to their former midfielder, who quit his job at Charlton over the weekend, to save them from the drop.

    ERL OF MANCHESTER
Man Utd will prioritise signing Erling Haaland over Harry Kane, according to reports.
Manchester Evening News claim John Murtough and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer agree that Haaland is the ‘ideal long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku’.
Haaland has a £66million release clause that comes into effect in 2022 but the Bundesliga giants could be open to selling him this summer.
A host of top European clubs including Man City and Real Madrid will scrap for his signature – especially if Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League.
The 20-year-old knows competition for his signing is rife and is likely to demand wages in the region of £350,000-a-week.

    LOTT MORE TO COME
Carlo Ancelotti has told Everton he wants to spend at least three more years with the Toffees.
Toffees chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale said: “Carlo has told us he wants to be with us when we go into our new stadium.
“That is a sign that we have got things right – and Carlo says he absolutely loves the club.”

    NEV-ER IN DOUBT
Gary Neville claims the Premier League top four is done and dusted already – despite the challengers having up to ten games left.
He said on his podcast: “Leicester are the ones that I think you’d be most nervous about because they did blow up last season.
“They had a really difficult run-in. I don’t see West Ham catching Leicester. The teams below that are so inconsistent and seem to be all over the place.
“I’m not sure which one of them is capable of putting a run together.
“They’re capable of it, some of them, but I would think that Leicester this year would hang on and cement the fact that Brendan Rodgers has done a brilliant job two years on the bounce.
“Last year, they were so unlucky to miss out on the final day against Manchester United.
“This year, I think they’ll get in the top four. I think it’ll be Chelsea third and Leicester will be fourth.”
Neville expects the current top four to hold off the challengers
    RUD NOT TO
Jose Mourinho held talks with Antonio Rudiger over a summer switch from Chelsea to Tottenham, the defender has admitted.
Rudiger said: “I was obviously shocked, though maybe shocked is the wrong word.
“Some things I saw coming, obviously not being in the squad at all was not something I saw coming.
“But at the end of the day I took it on the chin. There were two teams – but mainly one team I was considering. That was PSG.
“There was a call with Mourinho, and with [Thomas] Tuchel, but this is something that didn’t happen.”
Antonio Rudiger was offered a route out of Chelsea in the summer
    BELE ACHE
Barcelona are reportedly set to reward Man Utd target Ousmane Dembele with a new contract after seeing the attacker finally find some form.
Dembele’s current contract expires in the summer of 2022.
And they could be forced to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for nothing.
But Mundo Deportivo say Barca are writing up a new contract, with club chiefs seeing him as a crucial member of the team for the future.
Barcelona are ready to offer Ousmane Dembele a new contract
    MAN HUNT
Man Utd are facing a battle with neighbours Man City for Sporting Lisbon whizkid Nuno Mendes.
The 18-year-old left-back is regarded as one of the rising stars in Europe with a number of elite scouts watching his every appearance.
The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the Portuguese ace, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoping he could provide competition for Luke Shaw after Alex Telles’ uninspiring start at Old Trafford.
Spanish giants Real Madrid are also known to have him on their radar.
But now AS claims City have ‘approached Mendes at Pep Guardiola’s request to initiate the negotiations’ over a summer transfer.
Man City are trying to beat rivals United to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Nuno Mendes
    DON’T LEWK GOOD
Bayern Munich are reportedly considering blocking Robert Lewandowski from playing for Poland against England on March 31.
Under German quarantine regulations Lewandowski would have to isolate for 14-days upon arrival back in Germany after the World Cup qualifier at Wembley.
There is currently a blanket ban on travel to the UK from Germany. And from Wednesday until at least March 28, people have to isolate for two-weeks once they return to Germany.
But the Bavarian giants have no interest in releasing Lewandowski for the game if it means he will miss games for them, according to Polish outlet ONET Sport.
Robert Lewandowski may not face England when they play Poland
    FIOR BLIMEY
Man United have opened talks with the agent of Nikola Milenkovic over a £30million summer move – with Fiorentina ready to sell, according to reports.
The Red Devils have contacted Milenkovic’s agent in a bid to sort a move well before the summer window opens, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Milenkovic is under contract at Fiorentina until the end of next season.
But with just a little over a year left on his current deal, the in-demand Serbian has reportedly told the club he has no intention of extending his contract.
Milenkovic has also popped up on the radar of reigning Premier League champions Liverpool and Tottenham.
But United are believed to have first kicked off talks with Milenkovic’s agent a YEAR ago and easily lead the race for his signature.

    JORD BLOW
Jordan Pickford has been ruled out of Everton’s FA Cup quarter-final and England’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The 27-year-old was forced off after just 43 minutes of Saturday’s home defeat to Burnley after suffering an injury.
He underwent a scan to assess the damage and it has been discovered he has injured his oblique abdominal muscle.
That has ruled him out of the Toffees’ crunch cup clash with Manchester City this weekend.
And it will also be a bitter blow to England boss Gareth Southgate.
Jordan Pickford has been ruled out for the next three weeks through injury
    MAR-SELLO
Inter Miami owner David Beckham is reportedly eyeing a move for Real Madrid star Marcelo.
France Football claim Manchester United legend Becks has already approached the veteran Brazilian over a switch to the MLS.
The report adds that Marcelo – who hasn’t featured for Madrid for over a month – is yet to respond to the offer to play for Miami.
Marcelo’s contract expires in June 2022 meaning Madrid will have to offload him this summer if they are to receive any fee for the Brazil international.

    KAI IN THE SKY
Kai Havertz admits there are ‘no excuses’ for his Chelsea form but believes he can make a ‘big turnaround’.
He said: “The coronavirus is now over [for me] and I feel good.
“I had a little injury in the past few weeks but it’s now time to play good.
“I have to improve my game. It has not been easy for me but there are no excuses.
“I just have to keep on working and hopefully there will be a big turnaround soon. I will give it my best.”
Kai Havertz believes the good times are just around the corner for him at Chelsea

    EVAN ALMIGHTY
Arsenal have been warned that any deal for Eintracht Frankfurt star Evan N’Dicka will ‘certainly not be cheap’.
Frankfurter Neue Presse claim the Bundesliga side currently value the defender at £19million but that price is expected to rise by the summer.
The report adds that Frankfurt have ‘no pressure’ to sell N’Dicka this year as he’s tied down on a contract until 2023.
This means that Arsenal would have to ‘dig deep into their pockets’ if they want to sign the ‘defensive gem’ at the end of the season.
German outlet FNP even state that the 21-year-old would suffer a ‘setback’ in his development if he moved to north London for less playing time.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan N’Dicka
    RAPID FIRE
Man Utd and neighbours Man City are locked in a transfer tug-of-war for wonderkid Yusuf Demir, according to reports.
According to Bild, the Manchester duo are also joined by Europe’s giants in a scrap for the Rapid Vienna winger’s signature.
Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all closely monitoring his progress.
But it appears United could be leading the chase ahead of their rivals.
Defensa Central report how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are the ‘most attentive’ in the transfer race.

    SON THE MEND
Tottenham forward Son Heung-min’s injury is ‘not as bad as first feared’.
The South Korean superstar limped off clutching his hamstring just 17 minutes into Sunday’s North London derby defeat to Arsenal.
His exit prompted fears from Spurs fans that their No7 could be missing for a number of weeks.
But according to Football London’s Alasdair Gold, the issue isn’t as bad as it initially seemed.
In fact, Son could even return for this weekend’s trip to Aston Villa.

    CRIS AND TELL
Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘not scared to laugh at himself’, Rio Ferdinand has revealed.
The ex-Man Utd star said on his Vibe with Five YouTube show: “Yeah man we have a laugh.
“If I see something funny or a meme on Instagram it gets smashed onto WhatsApp to make sure he sees it so you can take the mick out of him.
“He’s always been like that, even as a kid when he came to United, he ain’t scared to laugh at himself.
“He don’t take nothing personal, he’s just one of the lads – but he’s the best.”

    PREDICTED XI
Mason Mount and Jorginho are suspended for Chelsea’s Champions League last-16 tie against Atletico Madrid.
That means Mateo Kovacic is likely to partner N’Golo Kante in midfield, with Kai Havertz set to continue in attack.
Thomas Tuchel could also opt to put Reece James at right wing-back, allowing Callum Hudson-Odoi to line up further forward.

Man United have received a boost in the race for Jules Kounde – with Sevilla lowering their asking price to around £50million.
Sevilla had originally wanted around £70m up front for the former Bordeaux ace, with clauses and add-ons included on top of that.
But SunSport understands it has been indicated that United would be able to land one of their key summer targets for less than they thought.
United would also be willing to at least double Kounde’s current £70,000-a-week wages if he was to join, alongside incentives for appearances, clean sheets and winning trophies.

    THAT’S ALL FROM MADRID
Real Madrid made it through to the Champions League quarter-finals thanks to a comfortable 3-1 win over Atalanta at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.
The visitors started strong but let themselves down after 34 minutes when goalkeeper Marco Sportiello carelessly gave the ball away to Luka Modric.
Modric then passed it to an unmarked Karim Benzema, who then opened the scoring with a cool finish.
Real came in stronger in the second half and almost scored what could have been the best Champions League goal of the season when Vinicius Junior dribbled past everyone and just missed Sportiello’s bottom left corner after an exhilarating run.
But Vinicius made up for his error soon after when Atalanta captain Rafael Toloi brought him down inside the box and forced a penalty for the hosts.
Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos took the spot-kick and doubled his team’s lead on the hour-mark.
Luis Muriel gave the visitors some hope with a stunning free-kick seven minutes before full-time.
But Marco Asensio put the tie to bed just one minute later with a smooth finish following a brilliant run by Lucas Vazquez.
That’s all from us here in Madrid, have a lovely night!

    RAMOS REACTS
Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos revealed what was going through his mind before taking that crucial penalty.
Ramos said: “The objective was to pass and we did it with a good result.
“We have not had in mind the first leg, we wanted to dominate and have control. We have had the occasion to score another goal. We are happy. This is the way.
“Shooting a la Panenka is always something that is present. But it was not the ideal option today. No rival can be underestimated. I always try to wait for the goalkeeper to move. Happy to help the team with a good performance and happy to be able to dedicate this goal to mine.
“One ends up lamenting that after the great move that Vinicius has made it does not end in a goal. I would have been very happy. But the important thing is the great game he has played. Whenever it comes out, life is left ”

    GASPERINI REACTS
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini wishes his team got something better but insists he has no regrets.
Gasperini said: “I absolutely would’ve made the same decisions.
“Unfortunately, the first goal, the penalty and even the goal in the first leg compromised a qualification that would’ve been tough anyway. When you gift goals like that, it becomes even tougher.
“It’s a pity, we felt that we had the possibility to do better and take the game to Real Madrid. It went down the wrong path, that was partly our own fault, and it became too difficult then.
“These experiences are always fantastic for the players, coach and club, because we are up against the best on the international stage.
“We should still be satisfied, as we eliminated Ajax and got through a group with Liverpool. We hoped that we could’ve done better in both games against Real Madrid”

    WHO’S NEXT?
Real Madrid are through to the quarter-finals where they could be set for some interesting encounters.
Manchester City also qualified after beating Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 at the Etihad and knocking the Bundesliga outfit out with an aggregate of 4-0.
Liverpool are the second Premier League team to be waiting for Thursday’s draw after offloading RB Leipzig.
Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are through as well after eliminating Barcelona and Sevilla respectively.
Porto pose as perhaps the biggest underdogs after shocking Juventus in the Last-16.
The quarter-finals will take shape after Bayern Munich and Chelsea take on Lazio and Atletico Madrid tomorrow respectively

    VIN-TAGE
Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior almost scored the best Champions League goal of the season against Atalanta.
Vinicius put together an exhilirating run from midfield and dribbled past everyone in defence before flicking a shot that just missed Marco Sportiello’s bottom left corner.
But the forward made amends soon after when he won a pernalty that captain Sergio Ramos converted on the hour-mark.
But that’s nothing new for the Brazil international

    BRU BEAUTY
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has likened Bruno Fernandes to three of his former team-mates including Juan Sebastian Veron.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a stunning first full season in England – chipping in with 23 goals and 13 assists in 43 games in all competitions.
Solskjaer was asked by a fan on which player does Fernandes resemble the most from his playing and coaching days at the Theatre of Dreams.
He said: “Bruno has the attributes of many of my team-mates, I feel.
“Part of it is Juan Sebastian Veron, part of it is Paul Scholes, part of it is Eric Cantona.
“So those are probably the three players. He has their attributes as a leader and a winner.”
    DRY RUN
Banned ref Darren Drysdale is being handed a low-key return to action as fourth official at Scunthorpe on Saturday, Andy Dillon reveals.
Drysdale was suspended after being found guilty of improper conduct during a heated clash with Ipswich midfielder Alan Judge last month.
He is free to start work again but is being sent to Scunthorpe’s League Two relegation home game against Southend United where he won’t even be on the pitch.
An FA disciplinary panel heard that Judge called Drysdale a ‘cheating bald c***’ as they locked heads during Ipswich’s match against Northampton on February 16.
Judge disputes that account strongly and says his club has audio footage to prove he did not swear or label Drysdale a cheat.

    HURTS A SCOTT
Scott McTominay conceded it’s hard to look at the Premier League table and not feel title regret.
The Manchester United midfielder admitted it’s ‘difficult’ to see their cross town rivals so far ahead of them.
McTominay and Co had title aspirations at the turn of the year before seeing Manchester City pull clear.
The Red Devils are 14 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s men and looking just to seal a top-four spot.
The midfielder said: “It’s difficult to look at top four at the minute because we had a time when we were looking at the league.
“It was the chance for all of us to have a big push and show really what good players we are.
“But Man City have had a terrific run of games and we’re just trying our best to keep on them.”

    AT A LOSS
PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas has been accused of trying to lose games to get Jorge Luis Pinto sacked as Costa Rica manager.
Navas and two other players – Bryan Ruiz and Celso Borges – appeared at a defamation trial that began last Friday in capital city San Jose.
Former Costa Rican football president Eduardo Li alleged that Navas, 34, warned he would intentionally lose games if Pinto stayed on as coach after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Li said in his court appearance: “The players took out the confidentiality clause that we had with Pinto that said that if the National Team lost three games, the contract would be terminated.
“And when Football Federation did not find reasons to dismiss him, Keylor Navas was the one who said we lose all three games.”
Navas, appearing from Paris, and Ruiz denied the accusations of threatening to lose games on purpose.
    PEACE OF MIND
Paris Saint-Germain are set to pay for round-the-clock security for their stars after Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos’ families were caught up in terrifying break-ins.
On Sunday night, Di Maria’s home was the subject of a ‘violent robbery’ with his wife and kids inside as the the winger played during the 2-1 defeat at home to Nantes.
Simultaneouly, Marquinhos’ parents had their home broken into – with the defender’s dad claimed to have been ‘battered in the face, chest and ribs’.
The break-ins are just the latest in a string of burglaries among PSG players in recent years.
Mauro Icardi, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have also all had their properties burgled during their time at the Parc des Princes.
And in a bid to keep them and their loved ones safe – as well as some much-needed peace of mind – the club now laying on security for their stars, say L’Equipe.

    NOT SO MAG-NIFICENT
Rio Ferdinand believes that Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘can’t trust’ Harry Maguire in one-on-one situations.
The England centre-back has been virtually ever-present since joining the Red Devils in 2019.
Solskjaer, 48, appointed Maguire, 28, his new club captain last season, following the departure of previous skipper Ashley Young.
But that hasn’t stopped Ferdinand, 42, raising concerns over the current incumbent of his old No5 shirt.
He told his YouTube channel: “I think that’s Ole’s biggest concern – can he leave Maguire one-v-one on the halfway line? Or Lindelof?
“It’s proven that you can’t as that’s not their main attributes.
“Harry Maguire is good at a lot of other things but that area, that’s one of his weak points.”

    AGENT AUBA
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has talked up his Gabon team-mate Aaron Boupendza to Arsenal chiefs ahead of a potential move, according to reports.
The striker is being courted by a number of clubs, having had a stunning season with Turkish side Hatayspor.
Hatayspor recently accepted a £7million bid from Krasnodar for the frontman – but Boupendza, 24, turned down the Russian side.
According to 90min, the forward is being chased by Tottenham, Leicester, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Wolves, Newcastle and West Ham.
But Aubameyang’s influence could see him head to Arsenal instead.

The Juventus superstar’s sisters Katia and Elma Aveiro both paid tribute in emotional statements on Instagram.
Katia, who lives in Brazil, wrote: “I didn’t expect news like this. Today my heart is in mourning and now just memories are left.
“Rest in peace my dear uncle. I will remember our good moments together.
“I thought I was going to see you again, to laugh with you, to give you a hug again.”
The unnamed uncle has been described as a brother of Cristiano’s mum Dolores Aveiro – who suffered her own health scare last year.
Ronaldo has yet to make any comment.
    HAZARD AHEAD
Eden Hazard reportedly wants to undergo ankle surgery AGAIN just a year after his last op.
The Belgian has struggled with injuries since leave Chelsea for Real Madrid and this latest setback could see him miss this summer’s Euros.
Hazard, 30, has a persistent problem with his left ankle.
And he is said to have been in pain – which has got worse recently – since his procedure on it last March.
Hazard’s running and movement style are said to have been affected by the issue which could have led to the increase in muscle injuries.
And as a result, the former Lille man is said to be resigned to another surgery and sees it as his only option even though it was almost certain to see him miss Belgium’s Euros campaign.
    BREAKING NEWS
    A bit of breaking news…
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has come out of his five-year international retirement to boost Sweden’s Euro 2020 hopes.
The AC Milan star has ended his exile and will return for his country at the age of 39.
The former Manchester United striker has to decided return to the international fold with the rescheduled European Championships looming this summer.
Sweden’s record goalscorer has been named in his country’s latest squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Kosovo.
The iconic star scored 62 goals in 116 internationals for Sweden before retiring after their group stage exit at Euro 2016.
In typically-humble fashion, Zlatan tweeted: “The return of the God.”

    XAV TO BE HONEST
Barcelona legend Xavi is in regular contact with the Catalans’ new president Joan Laporta.
The legendary midfielder, 41, is widely backed to become Barca boss one day and this latest revelation will only fuel that fire.
Xavi, currently in charge of Qatari side Al Saad, admitted it’s his dream to manage Barca and recently revealed he stays in touch with ‘the best president I ever had’ in Laporta.
Xavi told beIN Sports: “Laporta is a good friend. I know him very well.
“He is the best president I have ever had. Barca will return both in terms of sporting and economic results.
“There are problems to solve but you can do it all. I wish him well. I am in contact with him and I am very happy.”
    PUL OUT ALL THE STOPS
Chelsea star Christian Pulisic is reportedly determined to fight for his spot at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel.
SunSport revealed that Manchester United will target a move for the American winger if he decides to quit the Blues this summer.
But according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Pulisic will not make any decision on his own future until the end of the season.
He tweeted: “Christian Pulisic has always been respectful with Chelsea – great professional.
“There’s interest from top clubs in case he’ll leave, normal for this kind of talent.
“But Pulisic is still fighting for Chelsea… and nothing will be decided before June.”

    RIO CALL
Rio Ferdinand joined the growing list of people calling on Manchester United to sign Erling Haaland.
The Borussia Dortmund is one of the hottest properties in world football.
United are among the clubs desperate to sign him – and former defender Ferdinand called on the Red Devils to get a deal done.

    ‘SPEECHLESS’
Rui Patricio’s wife Vera has thanks fans for their ‘love and support’ after the Wolves star was taken off on a stretcher with a horror head injury on Monday night.
The Portuguese goalkeeper, 33, took a knee to the head as Conor Coady attempted to clear his lines during the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool.
And now the stopper’s wife has taken to Instagram to thank his fans for their kind words during the terrifying ordeal.
Vera wrote: “Thank you for all the messages, love and support we are receiving.
“I’m speechless. Rui is fine and will recover fast.”

    ANEL BATTLE
United and Chelsea are reportedly scouting Malmo centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic.
However, the Premier League giants face transfer battle to land him ahead of Atalanta, who are already in talks.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, there has been no official bid from United or Chelsea for the Bosnian just yet.
    FRENCH LOYALTY
And Henry was also on hand to provide some expert analysis of two of the best strikers around.
Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland got the full Monday Night Football treatment from Henry and Jamie Carragher.
The Gunners legend was loyal to his compatriot when it came to picking between the pair.
He joked: “I can’t go against my fellow countryman.
“It’s very difficult to choose, I think they’re different strikers.”
    THIER HIM APART
Thierry Henry took no time at all to have laugh at Jamie Carragher’s expense as he returned to Sky Sports punditry following two years away.
The Arsenal legend is back in the UK, after leaving his post at CF Montreal last month for ‘personal reasons’.
And upon his return, the 43-year-old quickly eased back into things.
The studio set-up has noticeably changed during Henry’s time away, with pundits now two metres apart for social distancing purposes.
And Henry didn’t miss this chance to lightheartedly mock Carragher.
The Frenchman said: “I’m happy to be here, two meters away from Jamie like in the game,” referencing the famous time where he raced past a sluggish Carra.

    PSG PAST
Cavani also spoke about his time at PSG, where he played alongside the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
He added: “I’ve been lucky enough to have played alongside some great footballers. And when you do play with top players, it allows you to grow and improve.
“I’ve always had that desire to improve and develop my game, and to take things from one player or another.
“If I were to start listing each of their attributes, I reckon it would be an awfully long interview because they all have their own individual qualities.
“You had a player like Zlatan who was highly competitive. He was always up for the fight and he really hated to lose. None of us like losing but he has always shown that even more than most, through his character and how he is.
“I played with Ney also, as well as with Kylian. Everyone knows about Ney, don’t they… he has magic in his feet. Kylian has huge skill and technique as well as great pace. They are really top-class players.”

    CAV SOME OF THAT
Edinson Cavani revealed he almost joined Manchester United in 2010.
The Uruguayan was with Palermo at the time but ended up joining Napoli and then Paris Saint-Germain – before signing for United a decade later.
Discussing it with Inside United, Cavani said: “Just imagine it! I can’t remember exactly what happened.
“I do remember there was talk about one or two different teams, but hey, if I’d had that opportunity [to join United], I would have taken it, of course I would, without giving it a second thought.
“I don’t remember definitively if that was the case.
“But what I do remember is that I was due to travel to the World Cup in South Africa, and during that tournament, I had a conversation with Napoli, and well, told them if they had faith in me and wanted me to go there, trust and confidence are worth a lot to me, and so I made my decision and after Palermo I made the move to Napoli.”

    RIGHT GAARD
Arsenal will try to keep Martin Odegaard at the Emirates next season, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta has been delighted by the Norwegian’s impact since arriving on loan from Real Madrid in January and will reportedly try to extend the deal or sign him permanently.
The 22-year-old capped a near perfect week when he scored in the Gunners’ 2-1 North London derby win over Tottenham on Sunday – his first Premier League goal for the club.
He bagged his first ever Arsenal goal in Thursday’s 3-1 Europa League win at Olympiakos – and he was named captain of Norway.
The midfielder has had such an impact since his arrival, the North Londoners plan to enter transfer talks with Real Madrid at the end of the season in order to help keep him on board, according to the Mail.
    CLARKE WANTS CHE
Staying with international football and Che Adams could pledge his allegiance to Scotland.
The Southampton striker, 24, was born and bred in Leicester and featured for England Under-20s.
But with Adams increasingly unlikely to get his shot for the Three Lions, he could earn a first Scottish call-up.
He qualifies for the Tartan Army through a grandparent.

    THAT’S ALL FROM MOLINEUX
Liverpool picked up an important 1-0 win over Wolves in a match with a sombre ending at Molineux.
The Reds opened the scoring in the second minute of stoppage time just a few minutes before half-time thanks to former Wolves star Diogo Jota.
Sadio Mane found Jota inside the box and the striker hit the net with a fine finish that Rui Patricio got his fingertips on but didn’t celebrate afterwards.
Wolves tried to respond but never really managed to rattle the visitors, who came close to a second at the dying minutes of the match.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain found Mohamed Salah inside the box and the Liverpool star sent the ball to the back of the net but the goal was ruled out for offside.
That is when disaster struck as Patricio was left laying on the pitch after his head appeared to have accidentally collided with Wolves captain Conor Coady’s knee while both players tried to stop Salah’s goal.
The Portugal international received medical attention and the game was paused for almost 15 minutes as the 33-year-old required oxygen.
Medical staff carried him out of the pitch on a stretcher and the Portuguese star was replaced by John Ruddy for the final few minutes of the match.
Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo shared a positive update on Patricio’s health as he said he is alright and will recover from a reported concussion

    ROBERTSON ON PATRICIO
Liverpool star Andy Robertson said his thoughts are with Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio and insists football always comes second when it comes to injury.
Robertson told Anfield Watch: “Football becomes irrelevant when someone is down that long and the doctors have to come on.
“It’s horrible when you’re involved in it and I hope he’s OK.
“Thoughts and prayers go to him and his family. I know how it can affect the lads and that’s two [incidents] they’ve had this season.
“I hope to see him in front of the goals again soon because he’s a fantastic goalkeeper”

    PLAYERS REACT
Some of Liverpool’s players have reacted to Rui Patricio’s horrific head injury in the closing minutes of the match at Molineux.
Diogo Jota, who played with Patricio at Wolves throughout the last three years and scored the Reds’ winning goal, said his thoughts are with his former team-mate.
Jota said: “Life is more important. I hope it’s nothing too serious and he has a quick recovery.”
Liverpool back-up goalkeeper Adrian also expressed his support towards the Wolves shot-stopper.
He tweeted: “3 important points, but all our thoughts are with you tonight, @rpatricio1_. Get well soon”

    NUNO SHARES PATRICIO UPDATE
Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo shared some good news following Rui Patricio’s head injury saying that his star goalkeeper is going to recover and is “OK”.
Nuno told Sky Sports: “We just had an update now, he’s OK. He’s conscious, he remembers what happened, he’s aware so the doctors tell me he’s OK.
“I think it was a collision with the knee of Coady on the head. But he’s OK, he’s speaking already.
“All these situations, when it’s a concussion in the head, gets all of us worried. But he’s going to recover, he’s OK.”

    UPDATED TABLE
Liverpool have climbed up to sixth place after beating Wolves 1-0 at Molineux.
The Reds are now five points away from Chelsea and the top four, which leads to Champions League qualification.
Wolves remain 13th and are 11 points away from seventh place, which usually leads to qualification for Europe’s competitions next season.
It’s important to mention that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are also only nine points away from the relegation zone

    PATRICIO UPDATE
Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio suffered a horrific collision with captain Conor Coady in the final minutes of the match.
Patricio’s head clashed with Coady’s knee while both players were trying to stop Mohamed Salah from scoring a goal that was overruled for offside.
The Portugal international needed medical attention and the match was paused for almost 15 minutes.

    FT: WOLVES 0-1 LIVERPOOL
Liverpool picked up an important win at Molineux in a match that ended on a bad note.
The Reds opened the scoring on the second minute of stoppage time just a few seconds before half-time when Sadio Mane found former Wolves star Diogo Jota inside the box and the star striker beat Rui Patricio with a fine finish, which he didn’t celebrate.
Both teams endured a rather dull second half as the hosts failed to equalise while the visitors struggled to put the game to bed.
All until the latter minutes of the match when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain found Mohamed Salah inside the box and the Reds star forward beat Patricio with a fine shot.
However, the goal didn’t count as Salah was offside and Patricio needed medical attention after his head accidentally clashed with Conor Coady’s knee when both players tried to stop the Egypt international.

    PALMED OFF
Chelsea have demanded £17million for out of favour defender Emerson Palmieri.
According to Calciomercato.com, both Inter Milan and Napoli are interested in him and will attempt to sign the left-back this summer.
Palmieri has only made 11 appearances for Chelsea this season and he has not featured since their FA Cup win at Barnsley last month.
His last game in the Premier League was against West Ham in December with new boss Thomas Tuchel yet to play him in the competition.

Emerson Palmieri has been frozen out at Chelsea

    HAA-LLELUJAH
Borussia Dortmund will charge £130million for Erling Haaland this summer, according to reports.
Premier League sides Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are all interested in the Norwegian striker.
Haaland, 20, will be available for just £65m in the summer of 2022, when a release clause becomes active.
But as many as SIX clubs have already registered their interest in taking him ahead of next season.
And according to Bild, it will take DOUBLE his release clause in order to capture him from Dortmund a year early.
In addition to the Premier League quartet, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also after Haaland’s signature.

Erling Haaland will cost £130million this summer

    AUBA AND OUT
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the ‘first Arsenal star to leave’ after being dropped for yesterday’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham.
The Athletic claim that Aubameyang left just 23 minutes after the final whistle, not taking part in the post-match warm-down with his fellow unused substitutes.
As Mikel Arteta was doing his post-match interview, Aubameyang’s Ferrari could reportedly already be heard leaving the ground.
It’s also been claimed that the reason for the 31-year-old’s axe was lateness, therefore ‘breaking team protocol’.
The striker was reportedly seen stuck in traffic in his holographic chrome-wrapped Ferrari around Muswell Hill before the match.

Aubameyang, 31, was an unused substitute against Tottenham

    WALES RETURN
Ryan Giggs will be involved in Wales’ preparations for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers this month.
Caretaker boss Robert Page confirmed the Manchester United legend will have his say despite his continued absence following his arrest on November 1 of assaulting his on-off girlfriend.
When asked if Giggs had been involved in selecting the squad, Page said: “Absolutely, of course, like he does every other camp.
“All the staff will have an input so we will all gather and have conversations about the squad and about the opposition and the analysis, things will be no different with regards to that.
“Yes I am here as the front man at the minute, but it will be no different to what it was in November he will have an input and rightly so.”

Ryan Giggs is currently on special leave

    COR BLIMEY
Premier League Covid testers recorded just two positive tests again – for the SIXTH successive week.
Testers found one positive sample among 1,473 players and club staff between Monday and Thursday last week.
There was a further solitary positive result from the second round of 1,191 tests between Friday and Sunday.
The latest futures are further proof of the success of the enhanced protocols introduced after the start of the New Year have seen a total of just 27 positive tests across the 20 top flight clubs since 18.
That is compared to 110 positives in the previous five weeks either side of Christmas.
The last completely clear round of testing, though, was in the final week of last season in July.

    THERE YOU HAZ IT
Eden Hazard will miss Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Atalanta after picking up yet another injury.
The Spanish champions welcome the Italian minnows to the Bernabeu on Tuesday night for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
But they’ll be without the services of Hazard for the visit of La Dea as the Belgian has suffered an injury to his psoas muscle which effects the lifting of the upper leg.
Hazard, 30, was absent from the open portion of Real’s latest training session on Monday afternoon, sparking fears he’d suffered yet another setback.
Real confirmed his injury a few hours later, with reports claiming he could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

    HUMBLE DE-PAY
Memphis Depay would have been forgiven for thinking his performance in Lyon’s 1-1 draw with Reims was the reason he was trending this weekend.
The Dutchman provided a stunning cross for Tino Kadewere to rescue a point in stoppage time for Rudi Garcia’s side on Friday.
Depay is now leading Ligue 1’s assist charts this season with nine and is up for February’s Player of the Month award.
But anyone using his full name on Twitter when discussing him on Sunday found that the social media platform were banning their accounts.
Depay’s surname instantly started trending as users became aware of the bug for the word ‘memphis’, specifically without the capital letter.
A peculiar challenge emerged where people attempted to trick accounts into getting them suspended by asking what the star’s first name was.
Twitter eventually corrected the problem and restored users accounts for what they claimed was violating people’s private information.

    CRIST’S SECOND COMING
Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Real Madrid is possible and he reportedly could even leave Juventus for FREE.
Spanish outlet AS reports Ronaldo, 36, could walk away from the Old Lady for nothing with the cash-strapped Serie A champs struggling to make ends meet.
The report states Ronaldo is raking in more than £68.5million in gross annual earnings, which is too heavy a hit for the Italian side amid the pandemic.
A combination of having lost over £97m in the first six months of the season and crashing out to Porto in the Champions League last 16, has firmly put the brakes on spending in Turin.
This could mean Ronaldo – who arrived at Juventus in 2018 for £88m -is allowed to depart without a transfer fee when his contract expires in 2022.
Italian reports suggested a fee of just £25m would be enough to seal the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s Bernabeu return.

    WILL POWER
Joe Willock is open to extending his loan at Newcastle from Arsenal into next season.
While relegation would surely scupper those plans, the midfielder is loving life on Tyneside after the “scary” move north.
The England U21 ace made the perfect start, scoring on his debut in the home win over Southampton last month.
And Willock, 21, said: “I love playing for Newcastle.
“When I first came here, I was a bit apprehensive of how I would take to it because I’d never left Arsenal.
“I’d been at Arsenal since I was four and a half, so coming to a new club, coming up north to Newcastle was a bit scary.

    MOR OF THAT
Man Utd and Chelsea are both battling for Ilaix Moriba after missing out on the Barcelona wonderkid in 2019, reports say.
Moriba is the latest youngster to burst into Ronald Koeman’s team this season.
The 18-year-old has made six appearances in all competitions and scored his first-ever goal in their 2-0 win against Osasuna earlier this month.
But Moriba came close to joining Pep Guardiola at Man City two years ago when doubts emerged over a new Barca deal.
He ended up staying at the Nou Camp, but according to Sport, Chelsea and United are still tracking the midfielder.
So too are Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, with clubs said to have asked ex-Barca club director Eric Abidal to take Moriba on loan in the past.

Chelsea and Manchester United are both battling for Ilaix Moriba, reports say

    IN LUK
Luka Modric has reportedly agreed a contract extension at Real Madrid with his deal to expire in the summer.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “The extension of Luka Modric’s contract with Real Madrid is done and it’s not in question.
“The agreement has been in place since January for one more year of contract.
“It’s just a matter of time for the official announcement. Modric is definitely staying.”

    MESS NOT SPEAK
PSG have BANNED their players talking about Lionel Messi after Leandro Paredes let slip the club’s transfer plans.
The Barcelona great’s Nou Camp contract expires in the summer meaning he is set to become a free agent.
Paredes confirmed his club ARE pursuing his Argentine compatriot Messi just days after dumping him out of the Champions League.
But his comments did not go down well with the Ligue 1 champs – who have now implemented a clampdown on Messi chat.
Paredes told Le Journal Du Dimanche: “They have asked me not to talk about it anymore.
“People didn’t like my position on what I was saying. Some people saw it as disrespectful. This was not the case for me.
“It’s up to Messi to decide calmly at the end of the season what he wants to do with his future.”

    SMALL TIME
Lyon star Houssem Aouar ‘lacks motivation’ for ‘smaller matches’, according to the club’s former boss Alain Perrin.
Aouar, who has been linked with Arsenal, was hooked at half-time of Friday night’s 1-1 draw with Reims.
Perrin told L’Equipe: “Aouar, I do not say that he chooses his matches because it is not that, but it may be hard for him to get motivated for smaller matches.”
The 22-year-old’s performances remind Perrin of mercurial talents Dmitri Payet and Hatem Ben Arfa.
He continued: “He has talent, it is not a question of abilities but rather of state of mind.
“It is not easy, I experienced that with Dimitri at St-Etienne and Hatem at Lyon. They are often there in the big games.”

    SON OF A GUN
Mason Greenwood has been recalled to the England Under-21s for their upcoming Euros at the end of this month.
He is joined in the squad by Emile Smith Rowe of Arsenal, PSV’s Noni Madueke and Cheltenham loan goalkeeper Josh Griffiths – all of whom have received their first call-ups.
There is no place for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, though it remains to be seen whether that is due to travel restrictions in Germany or because Southgate wants him in his senior squad.
Due to Covid condensing the club seasons, the group stage of this year’s Euros has been brought forward to the end of March.
England face Switzerland in Koper on March 25, Portugal on March 28 in Llubljana and Croatia back in Koper on March 31.
Should they progress, they will compete in the knockout stages, which take place between May 31 to June 6.

    WHITE NOISE
Harry Maguire has reportedly requested Man Utd to sign Brighton defender Ben White in the summer.
According to the Transfer Window Podcast, Maguire has urged the Red Devils to bring in an English-speaking centre-back.
The news outlet also states that the ex-Leicester ace is keen for the club to bring in a defender with Premier League experience.
White is said to be one of the player’s Maguire is keen for United to sign.
It is understood that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made signing a new centre-half as a priority at the end of the season.

    AUDI MANAGE THAT
Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman is set to be slapped with a £43,000 fine for driving the wrong car to training.
The 24-year-old cheekily rocked up to Bayern’s training base in his Mercedes AMG rather than the company car laid on by club sponsors Audi.
Coman – who has been linked with Manchester United – was snapped being held at the gates by security and was forced to park his personal white SUV on the street.
Bild reports that Bayern stars are obliged to arrive for business appointments, including training, in the Audi provided to them.
Only cars made by shareholder Audi and the VW group are permitted and a fine of £43,000 is the punishment for those that violate the rule.
Audi own 8.33 per cent in the club and their sponsorship is worth around £42.8million a year with their contract running until 2029.

    FINE BY ME
Arsenal are ‘set to fine’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for ‘turning up late’ for yesterday’s clash with Tottenham.
The Gunners’ skipper had been set to start against Spurs, having scored nine goals in his last 12 games.
But following a disciplinary breach, boss Mikel Arteta made the bold call to drop his captain and star striker.
And according to the Mail, Aubameyang could now face a hefty fine for his actions.
The 31-year-old was included on the bench for the match, after allegedly being late to the game.
But he didn’t see any action, as Arteta instead turned to Nicolas Pepe, Willian and Mohamed Elneny when shuffling his pack.

    KEANE FOR HIM
Former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is the favourite to become Celtic’s new manager.
Lasbrokes have placed the ex-Blades gaffer as the 6/5 favourite, with caretaker boss John Kennedy 11/4.
Roy Keane is third favourite, with the Irishman looking to return to the club where he finished his career in 2006 after helping them win the league and cup in 2006.
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “Money talks, and we’ve been forced to cut Keane’s odds over the weekend, but Wilder and [Eddie] Howe are all also proving popular with punters.”
Man City youth boss Enzo Maresca is 9/1, followed by Eddie Howe at 10/1. with Paul Lambert 14/1.

    FOUR-GONE CONCLUSION
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could sell four Manchester United stars including Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard to raise funds for a transfer splurge, according to reports.
It is thought the Red Devils boss will only be given an £80million warchest this summer.
He was handed around £75m last season to bring in Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo – plus Edinson Cavani on a free.
And according to the Metro, he hopes to raise a further £60m this time around through player sales.
That could see Mata, Lingard, Phil Jones and Diogo Dalot leave Old Trafford.

    MESSI AFFAIR
Lionel Messi frustrations boiled over once again – this time at Barcelona fans filming him leaving training.
The club captain was greeted with a barrage of supporters and their cameras as he drove home.
And after encountering the same situation time and time again, he finally lost his cool.
A video shows Messi, in his training kit, wind down the window and confront the gathered mob of fans hoping to get a glimpse of their hero.
Messi said: “Why do you keep filming the same video if you have already done this many times? They’ve already made a lot of videos. You can’t spend all day here.
“Do you think it’s normal doing the same every time? Stop.”

    GINI’S OUT
Barcelona believe they have all but secured the signing of Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum with the deal reportedly ’95 per cent done’.
Wijnaldum has been one of the stars of Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield revolution but looks certain to depart on a free transfer this summer.
The 30-year-old’s contract expires in June and Liverpool chiefs have not been able to agree new terms with the Holland international.
Wijnaldum claimed this week he would be upset to leave Liverpool but it seems inevitable he will move on this summer.
Speaking this week, the midfielder said: “It’s not as easy as everyone thinks it is to make some decisions about your future.
“You have to think about everything and then first negotiate with the clubs and it’s so difficult and it’s why it takes so long.”

    SEEING RED
Man Utd star Harry Maguire was heard shouting expletives at Aaron Wan-Bissaka during last night’s win over West Ham.
The Red Devils right-back received both barrels from his captain following a misplaced pass.
Maguire, 28, yelled: “F****** tidy up, stop giving the f****** ball away!”
The centre-back’s leadership appeared to pay dividends, as his side kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 triumph.

    EVAN N’EARTH
Arsenal have ‘held talks’ with Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan N’Dicka’s representatives, according to reports.
Boss Mikel Arteta is eager to continue reshaping the club’s defence ahead of next season.
According to the Express, N’Dicka could kickstart the process.
The 21-year-old is reportedly valued at £19million by Frankfurt, having impressed at the back under Adi Hutter.
N’Dicka has become a mainstay on the left of Hutter’s back-three, making 17 appearances this season.
    And the imposing 6ft 4in centre-back has also broken into France’s impressive Under-21 set-up.

Evan N’Dicka has made 17 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt this season

    ‘VIOLENT ROBBERY’
Angel Di Maria’s family were the victims of a ‘violent robbery’ during Paris Saint-Germain’s defeat to Nantes, according to reports.
The former Man Utd flop was substituted in the 62nd minute and was escorted down the tunnel by boss Mauricio Pochettino.
PSG’s sporting director Leonardo was spotted by TV cameras making contact with Pochettino just moments before the substitution.
The ex-Spurs boss then informed Di Maria of the concerning situation and he immediately left the stadium in tears.
Initial information coming out of France claims members of family were present at his home during the robbery with reports they were held hostage.
French outlet RMC report that the incident had turned “extremely violent”. Marca later confirmed the family were unharmed but were held hostage.
Di Maria is married to Jorgelina and the couple have two young children.

    HIGH FIVE
Paul Pogba could be one of five Manchester United stars to return for Thursday’s crunch Europa League clash with AC Milan.
The Frenchman, 27, hasn’t featured since picking up a thigh injury in the 3-3 draw with Everton on February 6.
United head to the San Siro on Thursday needing to score after Simon Kjær salvaged a last-gasp equaliser for the Italian giants at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Injury-wise I hope we have four or five players back for that game [against Milan].
“Very likely Edinson [Cavani] and Anthony [Martial] are fit, Donny [Van de beek] as well.
“Paul might make the trip and David [De Gea] is back from isolation, that’s more numbers, today we had two goalkeepers on the bench so we need them back.”

    LAMBO PROBE – EXCL
Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi is caught up in a fraud probe over a crash in his Lamborghini.
The England and Chelsea winger’s £215,000 supercar was in collision with a ten-year-old Renault driven by a junior doctor. Callum, 20, and two others began filming the medic while asking him to admit liability.
The 29-year-old refused, claiming his car had been hit from behind by the £100,000-a-week player driving the Lamborghini Urus. Callum did not produce documents and is not under investigation after the crash in Wandsworth, South West London, in August.
His lawyers said a “third party”, believed to be his soccer player brother Bradley, 32, submitted the papers. The doctor said: “There was a big jolt when his car hit me.
“I recognised Callum the moment he jumped out of his car. He was wearing his full Chelsea kit and was angry. They started videoing me but I wouldn’t admit it was my fault.
“I waited for his brother to turn up. They mocked me for driving an old car. My insurance company received documentation for a Ferrari and then a Mercedes. I want police to investigate.”

    SCORE ARMS – EXCLUSIVE
Premier League aces are to be enlisted to encourage Brits under 30 to get the Covid jab.
Clubs have been asked to use the “star power” at their disposal to help roll out the vaccine.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has written to the top football clubs seeking help after last month asking them to encourage more ethnic minority Brits to get the jab.
A Whitehall source confirmed: “The Premier League are involved.”

    OLE’S NOT GUNNAR SULK
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his Manchester United team should have won by more against West Ham.

    MOODY MOYES
David Moyes was not happy after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United and was particularly annoyed Martin Atkinson did not let his team take a corner right at the death.

    NEW ART-ITUDE
Mikel Arteta says Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has to start showing respect to his Arsenal team-mates.
The Gunners boss dropped his captain to the bench for a ‘breach of pre-match protocol’ – after the star allegedly turned up late to the derby. Arteta said: “We have a way of living together. We have to respect each other and that’s it.”
Aubameyang was due to start in the 2-1 win against Spurs, but ended up being left on the bench. Arteta explained: “He was going to start the game, we had a disciplinary issue, we have drawn the line and we move on.
“We have a process that we have to respect for every game and that’s it. It was a decision made after evaluating everything and who Auba is and what he’s done.
“We have other players who can play. Recently we have changed the team quite a lot and there are players who are willing to play and deserve a chance, so I’m comfortable with that.
“I made what I thought was the right decision. We draw a line there. Now let’s move on again. We know how important Auba is for us, for the club. That’s it. That’s been dealt with so let’s move on.”

    GAB SHOCK
Brazil striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has been detained by police for flouting coronavirus restrictions at an illegal casino in Sao Paulo.
The former Inter Milan star, 24, was found hiding under a table after the hall was raided in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to local police.
Gabigol – now of Brazilian giants Flamengo – was pictured being led away from the premises and placed into a vehicle. A staggering 200 people are claimed to have been inside the makeshift casino, with Sao Paulo currently in the ‘red phase’ state of alert due to a shocking rise in Covid-19 cases.
A police task-force had been tipped off to a party happening at the address – but instead stumbled upon the casino. Sao Paulo officials claimed they saw hoards of people ‘flagrantly consuming alcohol, violating social distancing rules and [not] wearing masks’.
Police chief Eduardo Brotero added he witnessed ‘a rather large underground casino’ where ‘many people crowded together, exposed to contagion’. And Sao Paulo’s vice-mayor, Ricardo Nunes, claimed: “We got a tip-off about a party.
“When we got here we found that in addition to an enormous number of people, more than 200 people in an unventilated room.

    McTOMINAY’s THOUGHTS
Scott McTominay got a vital touch on the ball to steer into onto Craig Dawson’s head and into the back of the net as Man Utd beat West Ham 1-0 at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Really important to win the third tough game of the week.
“West Ham set up really well, they made it hard for us first-half.
“The message at half-time was to keep it the same, keep playing the best tempo you can possibly play at, and keep moving the ball from side to side.
“A lot of the boys were frustrated, but it’s not moaning, shaking your head, when you play against teams who sit in, and do it well… you have to play to the tempo that you normally play at and be positive in everything you do.
“It’s difficult to look at top four because we had a time when we were looking at the league… but Man City have had a terrific run of games, and we’re just doing our best to try and keep on them.”

    PEL OF A RECORD
Pele has congratulated Cristiano Ronaldo for beating his career goals tally.
The Juventus superstar netted a hat-trick today, as Andrea Pirlo’s side downed Cagliari 3-1 in Serie A.
Many believed that Ronaldo, 36, surpassed the Brazilian’s record in January, when he netted his 757th and 758th official goals against Udinese.
So some eyebrows were raised when Pele sent a tweet this afternoon, congratulating the Portuguese forward.
The 80-year-old tweeted, alongside a picture of the duo: “@Cristiano, what a beautiful journey you are having!
“I admire you a lot and this is no secret to anyone. Congratulations on breaking my record of goals in official matches. I leave this photo in your honour, with great affection, as a symbol of a friendship that has existed for many years.”

    PORT OF CALL – EXCLUSIVE
Portsmouth are lining up Neil Harris to be their new manager.
The former Cardiff boss is among the candidates to take over at Pompey following their sacking of Kenny Jackett yesterday.
Jackett, who had been in charge for almost four years, was axed after Saturday’s Papa John’s Trophy final defeat by League Two Salford at Wembley.
It came on the back of three successive League losses. And they have resulted in Pompey dropping out of the League One play-off places.
Chief executive Mark Catlin said: “Portsmouth Football Club would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Kenny for the work he has done during his near four-year spell at the club and we all wish him well for the future.
“It has been an emotional past few weeks for everyone associated with Pompey and we now begin the process – which will be as short as possible – of appointing someone who we believe can give us the best chance of finishing inside the top six. These talks begin now.”

    MAN UTD MATCH REPORT
Harry Maguire turned in a captain’s performance as Manchester United continued to be the best of the rest.
If the title is Manchester City’s, United want that runners-up spot to show continued improvement under Ole Solskjaer after last season’s third placed finish.
Nobody is more determined than Maguire who has been at the heart of a defence that has kept four consecutive league clean sheets for the first time under Solskjaer.
Given that the last two of those have come against champions elect City and inform West Ham tells you all you need to know about the improvement at the back.
They needed an own goal off the head of Craig Dawson in the 53rd minute to win this, but they more than warranted the three points.
    FULL MATCH REPORT AVAILABLE HERE

    BRUNO FERNANDES – 8
Was once again United’s saving grace, and the only player seemingly capable of producing some magic in an otherwise drab game. Delivered the corner that led to the winner.
    DANIEL JAMES – 6
The Welshman is getting his chances this season under Ole, but whether it is enough to force himself into contention for a starting spot remains unsure.
    MASON GREENWOOD – 7
Energetic and was denied by a wonderful save from Lukasz Fabianski in the first half, and then the post in the second. Yet one Premier League goal so far this season is not good enough for a player of his talent.

    LUKE SHAW – 6
Continues to produce performances at left back that will keep England boss Gareth Southgate occupied.
    FRED – 6
Despite the protection beside him, the Brazilian was not as effective on the ball in attacking areas as the game drifted by him.
    SCOTT MCTOMINAY – 7
Kept United ticking in the middle and played his part in attempting to header the corner delivery that was eventually put into his own net by Craig Dawson.
    MARCUS RASHFORD – 5
Missed several sitters in a game that he should have taken by the scruff of the neck. Instead, his confidence appears to be dropping with every chance wasted.

    MAN UTD RATINGS
Here’s how SunSport’s Jordan Davies rated Man Utd’s performances during their 1-0 win against West Ham tonight.
    DEAN HENDERSON – 6
Had very little to do as West Ham limited their attacking intent in an attempt to nullify United.
    AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 6
Another clean sheet as Wan-Bissaka’s defensive side of his game gains momentum, but was rarely tested.
    VICTOR LINDELOF – 6
Stood firm and looks to be putting his injury worries behind him with some consistent performances in the back-end of the season.
    HARRY MAGUIRE – 7
Looked like he was going to be subbed after a nasty head collision with Michail Antonio, but battled on and was a threat at set pieces.

    FULL-TIME!
    Man Utd 1 – 0 West Ham
Dawson’s own-goal is all that separates the sides on a grim night at Old Trafford.
West Ham offered almost nothing going forward until they’d conceded but United just sat back and absorbed their attacks as they chased an equaliser.
Very little quality on display from either side.
United go back into second and West Ham stay fifth.

    PLANE AND SIMPLE
The father of Ilaix Moriba has revealed he cancelled his son’s flight to Manchester City so the teen could remain at Barcelona.
Moriba, 18, is the latest youngster to burst into Ronald Koeman’s team this season. However, Moriba came close to joining Pep Guardiola at City two years ago when doubts emerged over a new Barca deal.
The Spain youth international, who has reportedly chosen to represent his country of birth – Guinea – at senior level, had even booked a plane ticket to the Etihad as he searched for his first professional contract.
However, Moriba’s dad Mamady Kourouma cancelled the ticket on the morning of the flight after a breakthrough in contract talks with Barca.
He told Sport: “With Barcelona, the negotiations did not advance. We met with Txiki Begiristain [City’s sporting director] and he explained his entire project to us. We liked it because they bet a lot on him. A few weeks later we had the tickets to travel to Manchester and sign the contract.
“I cancelled it the morning that we had to go there. I wanted Ilaix to be an example and a reference for the next generations of Barcelona. His friends were gone. If he stayed, it was proof Barca was betting on the youth players. We managed to reach an agreement where we all came out winning.”

    GOOOOOALLLLL – DAWSON OG
    53. Bruno Fernandes swings a corner in from the left.
A thick knot of players go up for it and replays show it hit Dawson’s head and nestled in the bottom left corner.
Scott McTominay claimed it but that’ll go down as an own-goal.

    HALF-TIME
    Man Utd 0 – 0 West Ham
Well that was a half to forget.

    ONE OF A KIND
Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has boasted he has never seen a striker who can rival Erling Haaland’s quality.
The Norwegian wonderkid, 20, is enjoying a terrific campaign with a whopping 31 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions this season.
Zorc told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag: “I have never seen someone like him. We can search Europe-wide.
“If he ever left us somewhere, there would only be a handful of clubs, but we’ll try to keep him as long as possible for sporting reasons.
“We don’t want to play in the Europa League on Thursdays. We want to give our calling card in the Champions League.”

    ALFRE-GO MORELOS
Alfredo Morelos has revealed he had a heart-to-heart meeting with Steven Gerrard after his hopes of a big money move died.
The in-demand striker said: “There were many difficulties with Rangers about my departure because proposals came in and the club asked for more money.
“Then the transfer market closed and I spoke with the manager and said that I was going to focus on the team. The situation got back to normal and I started to raise the level of my game.
“There are opportunities now for me because I have won the league in Scotland and we are still in the Europa League. If we get through to the next round, we will have the opportunity to play against some very big teams and they will be watching me.
“One of my big dreams is to play in the English Premier League. It is one of the best leagues in the world and there are a lot of important players and important teams.
“So if the opportunity presents itself in my career, I am going to take it. It’s a style of football very similar to Scottish football and I would enjoy it.”

    RAM-NO
Aaron Ramsey will miss Wales’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers with a thigh injury.
The 30-year-old, who played in Juventus’ Champions League defeat to Porto in midweek, was unavailable for tonight’s Serie A clash with Cagliari.
Discussing Ramsey in his pre-match press conference, Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo said: “He has physical problems and is unable to get continuity to his performances because he has to stop every two or three games.
“In the past, he has had major problems that have kept him away from the pitch for months.
“He is precious because he knows how to make the team play well and he plays well.
“He has only this physical weakness that forces him to stay out every now and then.”
