Celtic 1 Rangers 1 LIVE REACTION: Old Firm teams settle for a draw after goals from Elyounoussi and Morelos

RANGERS have equalised at Celtic Park through Alfredo Morelos’ header after the Hoops took the lead through Mo Elyounoussi’s spectacular diving header.Stay up to date with all the action from Celtic Park in our live blog, below…
    THAT’S ALL FROM CELTIC PARK
So the third Old Firm derby of the season ends in a draw that has both managers taking plenty of positives.
However, this will be remembered as the game in which Alfredo Morelos finally found the net against Celtic – and in which the champions kept their unbeaten run going. Will Rangers end the season as invincibles?
The Scottish Premiership now splits for the remaining five games of the season, and we will soon learn when Celtic will get their fourth and final chance to stop Steven Gerrard’s men from going through the campaign unbeaten.
Until then, thanks for reading and goodbye.
    GERRARD REACTION
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has taken plenty of positives from this afternoon’s Old Firm game, although admitted his side grew tired following their recent hectic schedule.
I thought it was a good game with both sides trying to win it. We tried to be positive with our substitutions, while Celtic had some good opportunities. It was all set for someone to go and grab it and win it. But we’re away from home, we’re the champions, we’ve taken seven points out of nine in terms of Old Firm games, and we’re still 20 points clear. This is a more positive result for us than them.Steven GerrardSky Sports
    PENALTY DEBATE
Both John Kennedy and Scott Brown believe Celtic should have had a penalty in the first half when Odsonne Edouard went down under Borna Barisic’s challenge.
Do you agree with Celtic’s interim manager and captain, or did Willie Collum get it right in booking Edouard for simulation? You decide.
🤣Martin O’Neill, Kris Boyd & James McFadden try to come to an agreement over the incident which saw Odsonne Edouard booked for simulation… it didn’t go to plan! The Celtic captain thought it was a stonewall penalty. What did you make of it? pic.twitter.com/WGFJhJtEwg— Sky Sports Scotland (@ScotlandSky) March 21, 2021

    KENNEDY REACTION
John Kennedy also felt his side should have had a spotkick in the first half, but the Celtic’s interim manager was happy with the improvement in his team’s performance, and believed they deserved more from the game.
It was a pleasing performance, I thought we were dominant for most of the game. We created numerous chances and should have had a penalty kick. Allan McGregor’s pulled off a few saves, we’ve had a few half-chances and we just needed one of those to drop. We should have been more clinical, but moving forward, we know our levels and we showed them today in large parts.John KennedySky Sports
    BUFALO DANCE
At the 15th time of asking, Alfredo Morelos finally broke his duck in Old Firm derbies.
It was league goal number 55 for the Rangers striker.

    GREAT SCOTT
Celtic captain Scott Brown was named Man of the Match by the Sky Sports pundits, and the midfielder has been giving his thoughts at full time.
In the first half we were exceptional and could have had three or four. We were denied a penalty as well, it’s a stonewaller, there’s no need for Odsonne [Edouard] to go down. There’s contact, we’ve seen it at half-time. It’s probably a foul on Jonjoe [too in the build-up to their goal]. We’ve had enough chances to win the game, I thought we were very good today. Today’s team performance was miles better than we have been this season, and we should have got three points.Scott BrownSky Sports

    FULL TIME STATS
Both sides had their chances to win the match in the second half although the hosts will perhaps be the more disappointed of the two.
Celtic’s 16 attempts on goal are the most Rangers have faced in the Scottish Premiership this season.

    FT: CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
The third Old Firm derby of the season ends in a draw at Celtic Park after Alfredo Morelos cancelled out Mohamed Elyounoussi’s opener in the first half. The champions remain unbeaten, but it means Celtic have stopped a clean sweep of Rangers victories, and the Blues will now be unable to match the Hoops’ 106 points of four years ago.
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!THE FULL TIME WHISTLE GOES!
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
90+1. Goldson escapes from Ajer to connect with Barisic’s delivery, but he’s unable to steer it down and it sails over.
There will be no repeat of the Rangers captain’s goal here earlier in the season.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    90. As three minutes of stoppage time are signalled, Rangers force a corner.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    89. Leigh Griffiths and Ismaila Soro come on for Odsonne Edouard and Scott Brown.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    86. Is a goal coming?!
First, Edouard fails to turn in a brilliant Kenny cross from the right, and then the hosts nearly shoot themselves in the foot at the other end.
In attempting to clear Wright’s through pass, Bain boots the ball against Ajer, and the rebound only just evades Roofe.
The Celtic goalkeeper affords himself a laugh but nobody in green would have been smiling if that had ended up in the net.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    85. Both goalscorers are now off the pitch. Mohamed Elyounoussi departs, and Tom Rogic is on.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    84. Now Rangers go searching for a winner.
Kent, Davis and Arfield attempt to work an opening on the right before a cross into the six-yard-box has Roofe attempting to bundle home.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    82. Celtic probe down the left again, the flank on which Laxalt has been excellent in the second half.
His cross is headed partially clear, but Kenny’s follow-up volley from distance forces McGregor into action down low to his left..
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    80. Into the final ten minutes, and this derby is still up for grabs.
With each side allowed five substitutions, the flurry of changes inevitably slow the game down.
However, there are still a number of matchwinners on the pitch.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    78. Now Celtic make their switch!
It’s the return of James Forrest to Celtic Park, the forward is on for his taste of home action since September. He replaces David Turnbull.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    77. Two more Rangers substitutions. Scott Wright and Kemar Roofe are on for Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos.
Celtic are yet to make a single change.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    75. Challenged by Helander, Edouard falls in the penalty area again but there’s no question of a spotkick.
In fact, there’s less contact and more theatrics than the incident in the first half that saw the striker booked for simulation.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    72. Another good save from McGregor!
A brilliant pass from Christie dissects the Rangers defence and sends Turnbull down the left.
Under pressure from Davis, the midfielder weighs up his options in the middle before going for goal himself. His fierce low strike is turned behind by McGregor’s foot at the near post.
From the corner, Edouard heads over the crossbar.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    71. Laxalt gets the better of Patterson in their latest individual battle, and slips a pass through for Edouard.
There’s a little too much on the ball, however, and that’s enough to take it through to the alert McGregor.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    70. Celtic are attempting to crank up the pressure although there’s no sign of a change from John Kennedy as of yet.
A Turnbull set-piece is well defended by Helander before Patterson stops Laxalt in his tracks.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    66. Laxalt is the latest name pencilled inside Willie Collum’s notebook. The left-back is cautioned for a foul on Morelos.
    CELTIC 1-1 RANGERS
    65. It’s another change for the visitors.
Ianis Hagi has had a quiet game and now his time is up. Scott Arfield comes on in his place.

    CHAMP
He’s done it! And the new!

    WOW!!!!
Huge right hand from Lawrence Okolie, he absolutely bodies Glowacki in the sixth round.
    OKOLIE KNOCKS OUT GLOWACKI!

    ROUND FIVE
Okolie looking to build on that big round four, throwing out more probing stuff jabs. Glowacki continues to struggle.
The Hackney man lands a stiff right hand after a jab and then circles back to the outside, keeping Glowacki at range.
Okolie then lands to the body again. Glowacki has a cut! He’s been opened up over his right eye.
Okolie will look to target that. At the moment it’s all going his way.
    ROUND FOUR – GLOWACKI ROCKED!
Okolie probes with his long stiff jab and then comes in with a huge right uppercut. Glowacki still can’t get near him.
Lawrence using his feet on the outside brilliantly too, still waiting for that big shot.
And Okolie lands a huge right hand! He wobbles Glowacki with a big one!
But the Pole manages to stay standing. Glowacki’s legs went briefly.
    Massive round for Okolie!
    ROUND THREE
Lawrence still working brilliantly with the long jab, Glowacki can’t get near him at all.
The Pole is getting frustrated and Okolie is just picking him off at distance, waiting to land the big right hand he’s after.
Okolie also continues to target the body, and Lawrence then lands a right hand up close. Glowacki still looking to get in close but to no avail.
    Great third for Okolie. 3-0.
    ROUND TWO
Okolie pummels the body whenever he gets the chance too, Barry McGuigan, like he has all night, calls for the jab again.
Okolie is touching Glowacki whenever he wants at the moment, but he’ll want a power shot soon.
Glowacki not disheartened just yet, he’s still probing, but nothing working for him just yet.
The Pole goes in with the head and the referee warns him. Perhaps some early frustration already.
    ROUND ONE
Nice and relaxed to kick things off for Okolie, tapping the jab out, not giving away too much at all.
Glowacki trying to pressure, but nothing coming off for him yet.
Okolie controlling the centre and he lands a nice right hand! Brilliant start from The Sauce.
And another solid right hand, followed up by a jab to keep Glowacki at bay.
    Good round for Okolie.
    OKOLIE VS GLOWACKI
Here we go! Round 1 is UNDERWAY!
    RING-WALKS
Both fighters have made their walks and are in the ring ready and raring to go!
    MAIN EVENT NEXT!
    It’s nearly time.

    RIP MARVELOUS MARVIN HAGLER
David Diamante honouring the life of the late great Marvin Hagler at Wembley with a 10-bell salute.
    OKOLIE’S TIME
Well, here we are, moments away from the main event, with Lawrence Okolie about to fight for the WBO world cruiserweight title in his 16th fight.
But Krzysztof Glowacki is no pushover, so this will be the toughest test of The Sauce’s career to date.

    WINNER
Rounds in the bank for Joe Cordina tonight.

    CORDINA BEATS KOURBANOV
The Welsh Wizard gets the job done. The judges give it to him 96-96, 98-93, 96-95 – majority decision.

    ROUND TEN
Kourbanov really trying to give it his all in there, but there’s no way he’s getting this on the cards.
Cordina has been too slick and too classy for him, but Kourbanov has still given a decent account of himself.
The Welshman has still been hit a fair bit tonight. Ring rust must be the answer for that.
In the end, solid rounds in the bank for Cordina, who clearly needs to push on with his career now. 7-3.
    ROUND NINE
Decent round for Kourbanov in there! He lands some big shots on Cordina, who welcomes them and fires back.
Both fighters looking to tussle with more intent in the penultimate round of the fight.
Kourbanov comes back with more fire toward the end of the round and Cordina pushes him back onto the ropes for some inside game.
    Best round of the fight.
    ROUND EIGHT
Kourbanov tries to come out a little more aggressive but Cordina looks to be having fun in there, popping off his jab when he needs to.
His promoter Eddie Hearn has spoken about getting Cordina a world title shot this year.
And that just might be the perfect sort of pick-me-up fight for Cordina.
There’s not much more he can do with Kourbanov, the power simply doesn’t seem to be there. But he’s winning.
    ROUND SEVEN
Cordina having success in the seventh with his stinging jab and he’s winning this fight fairly easily right now.
Kourbanov can’t really hang with Cordina. The Welshman clearly needs classier opposition to showcase his own slick skills.
And the 14 months out of the ring won’t have helped either.
At the moment we’re coasting to a clear Cordina win on the cards.
    ROUND SIX
Cordina with some more neat work but he ate a big right hand in the middle of some inside work there,
Kourbanov landed flush and it got his corner very excited, but Cordina styled it out in his usual slick fashion,
The Welshman gets into a closer exchange with Kourbanov and the pair look to work in close, but Kourbanov looks to be the slightly stronger man in there.
    ROUND FIVE
More of the same from both fighters in there.
Cordina clearly the better boxer and the much-neater of the two, but nothing too out-there to shout home about.
He’s going to have to take some risks in thee if he wants a stoppage tonight.
Kourbanov is trying to come forward and give it some but Cordina bats him away with counters off the ropes.
    Solid round.
    ROUND FOUR
Cordina with more neat work, but not much for Kourbanov to get too worried about.
It’s all very workmanlike in there at the moment, nothing too adventurous going on from either fighter.
    Round 4 to Cordina.
    ROUND THREE
More solid stuff from Cordina to open the third but he’s going to have to give a bit more if he wants to hurt Kourbanov.
He may want to bank rounds after his lay-off, however. It’s just not very incisive at the moment.
Kourbanov tries to launch a body attack but Cordina snuffs it out, backs off and resets with jabs of his own.
    3-0 Cordina.
    ROUND TWO
Cordina would some solid body-to-head attack in there, he’s moving nice and slick, getting any lost rhythm back.
The Welsh Wizard throws a few nice combos and Kourbanov retreats onto the ropes, but Cordina manages to land a lovely body shot.
Kourbanov gets a couple of his own nice jabs in there too.
Both fighters now being warned for hitting the back of each other’s heads.
    2-0 Cordina.
    ROUND ONE
Bit of a feeling out round for Cordina, who’s not been in the ring since November 2019 remember.
Kourbanov doesn’t look anywhere near as slick as Cordina in there. The Welshman throwing out nice jabs both to the head and body.
Not much coming back in his direction either. Kourbanov tries to get the body attack going but he’s struggling.
    1-0 Cordina.

    HE MIGHT ED NOWHERE
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Manchester United are talking to Edinson Cavani about a new deal.
And that the Uruguayan star is listening.
As Sun Sport revealed Cavani has grown unhappy over the sound of silence from within Old Trafford regarding a new deal.
He had been preparing to quit at the end of the season when his year’s contract runs out to realise a boyhood dream of playing for Boca Juniors.
The 34-year-old striker’s father declared he would be leaving while there are reports that he already has a verbal agreement with the Argentine club.
But Solskjaer and United hope the seven–goal frontman, expected to lead the line in today’s FA Cup clash with Leicester City, will still be around next season.
The Old Trafford boss insists: “We want a competitive squad and we need someone up there to score the goals for us.
“So we’re looking at it. We’re speaking to Eddy. Edinson is a top striker and whatever he decides to do, let’s see. But we’re in good dialogue with him.”
    RASH DASH FOR TRIPLE HEADER
EXCLUSIVE: Gareth Southgate may have to go into England’s World Cup triple header without Marcus Rashford.
The Manchester United striker is doubtful for Sunday’s FA Cup meeting with Leicester.
If he does not make the sixth-round tie then boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fears he will have to withdraw him from World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.
Rashford was replaced by goal-hero Paul Pogba in Thursday’s Europa League 1-0 win over AC Milan.
The 23-year-old has had a series of injuries and was frequently troubled by a back ailment.
Solskjaer is unsure how serious Rashford’s current problems are.
He said: “I don’t know to be honest. He struggled a little bit in Milan so he’s doubtful for Sunday but we hope he will be OK.
“Of course if he can’t play for us then it is more difficult to go and travel with England because then it is more serious than just a day or two.”
NETO CAN BE CUT-PRICE SANCHO ALTERNATIVE
EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United are eyeing a £50million-plus summer move for Wolves star Pedro Neto.
United have made signing a right winger one of their top priorities and Neto’s impressive season, despite Wolves’ struggles, has moved him up the shortlist of Old Trafford chiefs.
Man Utd could have signed Neto, 21, for next to nothing back in 2016 when the he came to Carrington on trial from Portuguese side Braga – but he did not do enough to convince them to buy him then.
But now United are understood to regard the Portugal international – Wolves’ £16m signing from Italian club Lazio – as a genuine alternative to long-term targets like Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish.
Rivals Manchester City have also been linked with Neto, but sources insist they are now ahead of United in the queue for Villa captain Grealish instead.
Sancho’s future at Borussia Dortmund is tied up with what the German club decide to do if mega-money bids come in for striker Erling Braut Haaland.
    WILDER WANTS QUICK RETURN
Chris Wilder wants to get back quickly into management – but it will cut his Sheffield United pay-off when he does.
Wilder is out of work for the first time in years and already looking around for potential vacancies.
Chris Wilder is already looking at new managerial opportunities – but his Sheffield United pay-off will be cut
However, as part of his settlement after departing the Blades a week ago, he will continue to be paid by Bramall Lane chiefs for six months.
If Wilder takes another job in that time, it means United will pay him less although he would try hard to find a way around that.
Wilder’s exit was bizarre. He was even close to taking charge at Leicester last Sunday as his settlement package was not finalised.
Club bosses only let him leave late on the Saturday night after he agreed to a farewell statement they could release.
Caretaker manager Paul Heckingbottom did not even travel with the squad until it was settled.
    RESULT: BRIGHTON 3 NEWCASTLE 0
BRIGHTON piled relegation fears on Steve Bruce and Newcastle with a priceless 3-0 win at the Amex.
Leandro Trossard notched a goal and a assist over the struggling Magpies
Leandro Trossard put in another stunning showing with an assist for Danny Welbeck’s strike after he had opened the scoring with a spectacular solo effort.
Neal Maupay rounded off the victory with four minutes left as Brighton went six points clear of the drop zone and four above Newcastle.
Danny Welbeck doubled Brighton’s lead following good work from Trossard
    ALABA-BYE
David Alaba is set to join Real Madrid after the Spanish giants offered him £165,000 per week and a huge £17million bonus.
The Austria defender has also been linked with Manchester United, City and Chelsea as he seems sure to leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires in the summer.
And according to ABC Deportes, Alaba has ‘verbally agreed’ to join Real Madrid following the huge financial offer tabled by the 13-time European champions.
Speculation has surrounded the future of Madrid’s current centre-backs Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, so Alaba could well be seen as a replacement for one of them.
And the wages and bonus being talked about are affordable for Real due to Alaba arriving on a free transfer.
Alaba has spent more than a decade with Bayern in what has been a hugely successful spell at the club.
The Austrian has won nine Bundesliga titles – including eight in a row – and will be looking to make it ten this season with Bayern currently four points clear of RB Leipzig at the top of the table.
    INTER JOIN AGUERO ADMIRERS
Inter Milan have joined the clubs keeping tabs on striker Sergio Aguero’s Manchester City future.
The Argentina star is out of contract in the summer and has yet to be approached over a new deal.
Inter are the latest club to be tracking Etihad frontman Sergio Aguero
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have an interest although Aguero is also open to staying in England with another top club.
The 32-year-old wants to make up for lost time after spending months sidelined with injury and then coronavirus.
Inter are monitoring his situation and are also interested in Manchester United’s South American forward Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan, 34, has had a frustrating spell due to injuries and has yet to reveal what he plans to do beyond the summer.
There is an option of a 12-month extension at Old Trafford, although no discussions have yet taken place. But SunSport previously reported that Cavani has already held ‘transfer talks’ with Boca Juniors over a summer move.
    ISAAC AGONY
Isaac Hayden was left in agony after suffering a freak injury during Newcastle’s game at Brighton.
Towards the end of the first-half on Saturday, Yves Bissouma fell into the midfielder and was evidently distraught by the outcome of the accidental collision.
Isaac Hayden suffered a painful knee injury on Saturday night
The Brighton star quickly called for medics to treat the stricken Toon player.
Hayden, 25, was clearly in some pain with his left leg planted as it took the impact.
Treated on the pitch for six minutes, he was taken off on a stretcher and replaced by Jeff Hendrick.
The first-half played on deep into stoppage time, which saw Brighton take the lead through Leandro Trossard.

    UTD WON’T RASH THEM BACK
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits Manchester United are showing caution over the fitness of Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba.
Man Utd are treading cautiously over Marcus Rashford and Paul PogbaCredit: Reuters
Strikers Rashford, Cavani and Anthony Martial are doubts for Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Leicester City.
Old Trafford boss Solskjaer told the Manchester Evening News:  “With Marcus, I don’t really know… but most unlikely that he’ll be fit.
“With Edinson, he has worked really hard, he’s joined in training sessions and towards the end he needs to top it up to feel 100 per cent ready for the game and hasn’t really got there yet.
Pogba is tipped to play after his match-winning return as a sub in Thursday’s Europa League triumph at AC Milan.
But Solskjaer said: “We have to see how much Paul can play.
“Solskjaer said. “I don’t think he can last 90 minutes, I’m not sure he can start, but you can see the impact he can make if he comes on as a sub.
“If he feels okay maybe we can start him as well.”
    PREM CLUBS EYE REAL’S VASQUEZ
Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez is reportedly open to offers from other clubs as speculation continues about his future.
The 29-year-old has played a key role for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season but struggled to find the back of the net, scoring just twice in 31 appearances.
And according to Marca, a meeting with Real Madrid has ended with Vazquez agreeing to leave the Bernabeu, so he is now ‘listening to offers’ from other teams.
Those clubs are said to include Premier League sides Leeds and Everton.
Spurs and AC Milan are also rumoured to be in for the highly-rated Spanish right-side player.
When asked about his future back in December, he said: “It’s a difficult situation, we’ll see what happens.”
For now, I’ll keep working hard. Vazquez is a product of the Real Madrid academy, first signing with the club way back in 2007.
    BUKAYO OK
Arsenal have gleefully confirmed Bukayo Saka’s return to full fitness.
Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta has said he is uncertain whether the left-sided wideman would be fit for England duty at the end of this month.
But an Arsenal tweet says the 19-year-old is not only back in training but “available for selection” ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League derby at top-four hopefuls West Ham.
During this week, Bukayo has responded well to treatment, has participated in training and is now available for selection.🗞 Our full team news update ahead of #WHUARS 👇— Arsenal (@Arsenal) March 20, 2021

    THE QUAD IS ON
Manchester City are now 5/6 to win the FA Cup and a slimmer 7-1 to land the Quadruple.
After Pep Guardiola’s runaway Premier League leaders reached the FA Cup semi-finals, Coral’s cut their odds further on winning all four competitions – after the started the season at 100-1.
Coral’s John Hill said: “They top the betting for all four competitions they remain in, including the FA Cup after an excellent victory at Goodison Park.
“At the start of the season, City were 100/1 to win all four major trophies. This is now the shortest price they have been to make history.”
FA CUP ODDS: 5-6 Man City, 10-3 Chelsea, 5-1 Manchester United, 9-1 Southampton, 11-1 Leicester, 50-1 Sheffield United.
    EVERTON 0 MAN CITY 2
Ilkay Gundogan and sub Kevin de Bruyne sunk dogged Everton in the last six minutes as Manchester City reached the FA Cup semi-finals to keep their Quadruple dream alive.
llkay Gundogan put Man City on the way to a 2-0 win with this 84th-minute header
City dominated possession as expected but toiled against the Toffees’ resolute defending until sending on Riyad Mahrez and De Bruyne.
Gundogan then nodded home after Aymeric Laporte’s shot was tipped onto the bar.
And De Bruyne drilled home in the final minute to earn City’s 25th win in their final 26 games.

    YOU’RE GARNER GO FAR
Mason Greenwood hailed James Garner on social media after the Manchester United starlet’s latest impressive loan show for Nottingham Forest.
England Under-20 midfielder Garner shone with both his tackling and passing in a 1-1 Championship draw at promotion-chasing Brentford.
And after the 20-year-old’s match stats were tweeted, England striker and United regular Greenwood responded by pointing out Garner’s star man rating.

    LIVER-PUL?
Christian Pulisic would be ‘ideal’ for Liverpool if he ends his time at Chelsea according to Brad Friedel.
The attacker has struggled for game time under new boss Thomas Tuchel and former Liverpool goalkeeper Friedel thinks he would excel at Anfield.
Christian Pulisic would be an asset to Jurgen Klopp according to Brad Friedel
Friedel told CardsChat: “I think Liverpool’s system is a good one for Christian, without a doubt.
“He’s very quick, his first steps are quick and even when he gets going, he’s very quick.
“The pressing style that Jurgen Klopp likes to play under, then the quick counter-attack and the runs through the lines, I think he would be able to perform very well in that system.
“I have no idea if that’s a player that they (Liverpool) are looking at, but that type of system would be ideal for someone like Christian.”
TUCHEL URGES SCOTLAND TO PICK GILMOUR
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has called for Scotland boss Steve Clarke to include Billy Gilmour in future national team squads despite a lack of first team football at Stamford Bridge.
The 19-year-old has featured just ten times for the Blues this season, only one of which has come since Tuchel took over at the end of January.
And while some felt Gilmour needed to move elsewhere on loan to secure regular game time, Tuchel does not believe that would have been the best thing for him.
Speaking about the decision to keep Gilmour instead of loaning him out, he said: “It’s absolutely no mistake. It was unfortunately not his choice. It was my choice.
“The choice was made for Chelsea and not for the personal goals of Billy. He accepted it in a five-minute talk. I hope he knows how much I appreciate him.
“He has three big problems: N’Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho. I can only strongly recommend the Scottish national team to nominate him because this guy trains on the highest level.
“They should not be worried about his ability to compete.”
    HAAD TO TAKE
Erling Haaland showed his fury as Borussia Dortmund lost ground in the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Today’s 2-2 draw at Koln saw the Norwegian – linked to Manchester United and Real Madrid -score twice but his team are now four points off fourth place with eight games to go.

It all started so well at RheinEnergieStadion as Haaland picked up a long ball over the top to open the scoring inside the first three minutes.
The 20-year-old showed great strength to round his marker and slot home at the near-post. But 14th-placed Koln bounced back with a penalty from Ondrej Duda and Ismail Jakobs’ powerful strike.
Once again, Haaland showed his marksman talents to rescue a late point for Borussia. An Ansgar Knauff cross was finished off by the striker to avoid a second defeat in three Bundesliga games.
Yet Haaland’s frustration was evident as, with the full-time whistle still blowing, he took off his shirt and threw it away.
He casually tossed it into the arms of opposition defender Jorge Mere and marched straight down the tunnel.
Jude Bellingham was one team-mate seen flat out on the turf as the understandably gutted squad lost control of their top-four fate.
After the game, Haaland’s official Twitter account posted: “Not a great result. We will use this as motivation to be back stronger! Thanks to all the BVB fans for your continued support. We’ll be back soon!”
JORGINHO: CHELSEA ARE A TUCH BETTER
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has appeared to fire a shot at previous manager Frank Lampard’s ‘long ball’ tactics.
The Italy international is enjoying life under Thomas Tuchel, with the new boss STILL unbeaten since replacing Lampard at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues haven’t lost in ten Premier League games with Tuchel employing a possession-based game.
Chelsea are also into the quarter-finals of the Champions League where they will take on Porto.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Jorginho says he is ‘enjoying’ the style of football. He is usually paired in the middle of the park with Mateo Kovacic or N’Golo Kante.
The 29-year-old said: “The coach wants us having control of the game, playing from behind, even when the pressure comes.
“So, for me, it’s a good way to play football that I like and enjoy, and I think it’s better for my characteristics than playing long balls, and second balls.
“When it’s Kova [Mateo Kovacic], his style is to play short, to come, so I know if he wants to play one-two or when he wants some space to move forward and to dribble.
“So, I just try to help him, either give him the space, or come over to help him and give him an option – whatever he needs to get out of the situation.”

PREM CLUBS QUEUE UP FOR KOKCU
Arsenal target Orkun Kokcu has caught the eye of Leicester and Leeds after having his transfer fee cut to £10million.
The Gunners had been linked with a £23m move for the Feyenoord midfielder this summer.
Leicester and Leeds have reportedly joined Arsenal in watching Feyenoord’s Orkun Kokcu
But according to La Razon, Kokcu has now had his price cut by more than half and in doing so drawn the eyes of two more Premier League clubs.
Both Leicester and Leeds are said to be in for the 20-year-old international, who received his first cap for Turkey in September.
Sevilla are also looking at the youngster, whose contract does not expire with Feyenoord until 2025.
However, the Dutch side are open to letting him go for the right price as they look to address their financial problems.
Speaking recently about his future, Kokcu said: “I have a contract until 2025 but the situation has changed.
“The club has been very clear about the financial situation and it is clear that it is not good.
“So if a club comes with a good proposal for me and the entity can enter a good amount, I imagine that it will be listened to.”
BRUM FANS’ AIR RAGE AT CHIEF EXEC
Birmingham City fans flew a plane over Vicarage Road during their game against Watford on Saturday with a message insisting chief executive Xuandong Ren ‘must go’.
Ren has come under heavy criticism from Blues fans since the appointment of Aitor Karanka last summer.
The message on the plane could be seen clearly from within view of the pitch
The Spanish coach, who was sacked last week, has left Birmingham loitering in 21st place in the Championship, just three points above the relegation zone.
And Ren is now taking the brunt of the abuse from Birmingham fans as they bid to have their voice heard while grounds remain empty.
The banner flown over the stadium read: “By order of Blues fans Dong must go.” It was the manner of Karanka’s dismissal which has seen Ren receive negative press.
Charlton announced manager Lee Bowyer was departing for Birmingham before Karanka’s sacking had even been publicly announced.
The mess off the pitch resembles what is happening on the field, with Birmingham winning just one of their last five matches.
Bowyer’s first game in charge did see him have something of an impact as they beat Reading 2-1 at St Andrews. But on Saturday the Blues were again struggling as they were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Watford.
    MILAN EYE £26m VLASIC
AC MILAN are reportedly chasing Nikola Vlasic for a £26million summer transfer.
Manchester United knocked the Serie A side out of the Europa League on Thursday, cutting off one route to next year’s Champions League.
If Stefano Pioli can guide Milan back to the premier club competition after seven years away, a spending spree could be green-lit.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Croatian forward Vlasic and Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic are being eyed by the Rossoneri if they qualify.
Vlasic has excelled at CSKA Moscow following a short spell with Everton.
The 23-year-old cost £10m when signed from Hajduk Split in 2017 but didn’t score a league goal in a quiet year on Merseyside.
Sent out on loan to CSKA, Everton actually turned a profit on the winger when he left permanently for £14m in 2019.
This season has seen Vlasic hit 11 goals for the Russian club and he will likely line up versus England in the Euro 2020 group stage.
    SLAVIA FLAG UP RACIST PHOTO
Slavia Prague have condemned a photo posted last night in which a small group of the club’s supporters racially abused Rangers star Glen Kamara.
The picture was posted on Instagram last night and read: “Kamara – just a n*****.’
This was the racist banner aimed at Glen Kamara
The Czech club say they have filed a criminal complaint against the ‘alleged fans’ while saying they ‘have been fighting against racism for a long time’.
It comes after Thursday’s flashpoint between the two sides when Ondrej Kudela is alleged to have racially abused Kamara at Ibrox.
The Gers midfielder released a statement through his lawyer last night in which he revealed the Czech defender called him “a f****** monkey.”
Slavia and the player refute the allegations and say he called the Finnish international “a f****** guy.”
The Czechs have moved to distance themselves from the picture and label it “an unprecedented backstabbing of the club and its ideals.”
    BAND OF BROTHERS
Forget about Alex Ferguson’s hairdryer – Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed he faced the HAIRBAND treatment from Roy Keane!
The Dutchman says fellow Manchester United legend Keane was an “animal” on the pitch just as fierce off it… with his expectations of team-mates.
Ruud van Nistelrooy also says Roy Keane was amazingly laidback before games before transforming once the whistle wentCredit: Reuters
And that extended into the fashion world.
Van Nistelrooy told Vibe with Five with Rio Ferdinand: “He was direct, everybody knows that.
I had this hairband and for three months every day, he was talking about it.
‘Get that thing from your head, what are you doing with that thing, you’re in the Premier League now’, but that was changing room banter.
“He kept you on your toes. He would hammer himself after a training session if he hadn’t played well.
“He set the standard for himself and everyone, which I appreciated. I had to get used to it though because, man, it was intense.”

Man Utd are reportedly leading the race to sign Barcelona whizzkid Ilaix Moriba.
The 18-year-old midfielder has caught the eye of a number of clubs in Europe – despite only having made seven appearances for the Catalans this season.
Moriba, who joined Barcelona’s academy in 2010, has impressed in his handful of appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side – scoring one goal and bagging two assists.
RB Leipzig and Chelsea are said to be two of the clubs impressed by the teenager’s displays this season.
But according to Mundo Deportivo, United are ahead of their Premier League rivals in the race to land the Guinean-born Spaniard.
If the Red Devils were to make a move for Moriba in the summer, they would have to meet his whopping £86million release clause.
    ICE MOVE
Everton are reportedly set to sign goal-keeper Cecilia Ran Runarsdottir from Icelandic outfit Fylkir on a four-year deal.
Runarsdottir, 17, will join the Toffees in July when she turns 18 for an undisclosed fee, according to Goal.com.
The Icelandic national is currently on loan at Swedish club KIF Orebro where she will stay until summer, Goal also claim.
Everton seem to keeping the deal under wraps, and neither club nor player have announced the move yet.
Runarsdottir’s career has been on a steady rise since she began playing football at 13.
She started out at Afturelding and helped them win the Second Division title before joining the Urvalsdeild, Iceland’s top-flight with Fylkir.
Runarsdottir will reportedly join the Toffees in the summer
    SAINTS ROW
Ralph Hasenhuttl feels Southampton have been rewarded for going for it in the FA Cup with a semi-final place.
Boss Hasenhuttl said: “I said in January that now is the time to take this chance because it is always a good chance for a smaller club like we are to write history.
“If you are good in the league, and we were in a good position at that moment, then you can concentrate on the FA Cup.
“We took the risk that cost us a few injuries in January and February, because we were always going for the strongest side against Wolves and Arsenal to go through.
“But now we get the rewards for it. We have a very, very good game in Wembley. It’s a highlight for us.
“There will be for sure a strong opponent waiting for us but with one game, everything is possible.”
    JU BEAUTY
Juventus are reportedly ready to bring Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba back to Turin.
According to La Nazione, the Old Lady are prepared to sell Paulo Dybala in order to sign the French World Cup winner.
Juventus are in the market for a central midfielder, with Andrea Pirlo looking to assemble a squad capable of winning the Champions League.
It is understood that Pogba is open to a return to Italy with his contract at Old Trafford to expire in 2022.
    BACK A-GUEN
Arsenal outcast Matteo Guendouzi has no future at Hertha Berlin following his loan spell with them this season, according to reports.
The 21-year-old fell out with Mikel Arteta after reportedly bragging about his wages to players during a game against Brighton last season.
His volatile nature led him to leave the Emirates for a loan spell at Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, where he has played 13 times this season, scoring two goals.
However, Bild are now reporting that Guendouzi has come across as ‘moody’, ‘stubborn’ and has a ‘resistance to advice’, characteristics which mean he will not be offered a permanent deal with the team.
This news comes after Hertha boss Pal Dardai’s recent quotes about the young midfielder.
Dardai told Bild: “It’s like puberty for him, he’s kind of a rebel. He has to work and learn like an animal.”
    HE’S A KEEPER
Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin got married to partner Anastasia in a TRACKSUIT during a civil ceremony.
The shot-stopper revealed the news on Instagram, as he tied the knot with his now-wife in a low-key civil ceremony in the Spanish capital.
The Ukrainian, 22, wrote: “A very special and important day in our life. I love you.”
Dressed in all white, Anastasia, also 22, posted: “Husband, love you. The best day of my life.”

Southampton have reached the FA Cup semi-finals after beating Bournemouth 3-0.
Nathan Redmond secured the victory with his second of the game in the 59th minute.
    GUNNER GET THAT
Arsenal’s rumoured away kit for the 2021-22 season has been leaked online with the Gunners set to wear yellow for next season.
Their home kit was among plenty of Premier League jerseys released this week, by FootyHeadlines.com, who have a reputation of getting their hands on designs early.
In their latest reveal, Arsenal’s proposed away kit has navy around the collar and arms, with a red stripe underneath.
Interestingly, their crest is a cannon, opposed to the usual logo, in a throwback to the Gunners’ 1989 away shirt.
Arsenal’s rumoured home kit also has a new twist, as the kit features more navy than fans might be used to.

    HAA LA LAND
Real Madrid have reportedly been told Erling Haaland wants to join them.
The prolific Borussia Dortmund striker is in huge demand with a host of leading European clubs chasing his signature.
According to Marca, Haaland has set his sights on a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and has instructed agent Mino Raiola to start talks over a deal.
But there will be plenty of clubs in the running to sign one of the biggest stars in Europe.
Manchester United have made Haaland their main transfer target but the Red Devils face serious competition to land him.
Premier League leaders Manchester City are also interested in signing the 20-year-old Norway star.
    TAKE ZLAT
Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes the current Man Utd side are better than the team he played in.
Speaking after the Red Devils knocked out his AC Milan side out of the Europa League, he told DAZN: “I think it’s better — it looks better.
“But it doesn’t matter if you don’t win anything.
“I think it was better than mine — but I won trophies. That’s the big difference.”
    HALF-TIME
Southampton have went into the break 2-0 up against their south coast rivals.
Moussa Djenepo broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, before Nathan Redmond scored in first half injury time.
A big 45 minutes is needed for the Cherries.
    CITY SLICKERS
Manchester City are reportedly on the hunt for a new left-back at the end of the season, with Sporting Lisbon ace Nuno Mendes a possible target.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Manchester City are looking for a left back as new signing in the summer.
“They’ve a list with many options – Nuno Mendes [Sporting] is among them, difficult one because he has a release clause for €70m (£60m) and Man City won’t pay this fee.
“Many clubs are in the race.”

    SAYS ON THE TIN
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admitted he ‘didn’t know much’ about Tino Anjorin – but is now ‘very impressed’ with the teenager.
The playmaker was given his first-team debut by ex-boss Frank Lampard last season, and has since played four more times.
Tuchel said: “I got to know Tino. I didn’t know much of him. I was very impressed because he’s very physical player.
“Tall guy, strong guy. He has the ability to keep the ball under pressure because he has the body for it.
“He has the physical ability to play and train with us on this level. He had some minutes with Barnsley in the cup game. We decided to keep him to get to know him better, not to send him out on loan.
“I’m happy about that. He is very strong in finishing. Very nice character. Nice guy from the academy.”

    BLUE MOON
Roman Abramovich has reiterated his commitment to Chelsea.
The Russian has not been able to watch the Blues at Stamford Bridge in nearly three years because of visa issues.
The 54-year-old said: “The ambitions are as true now as they were when I first became owner and I hope that can be seen through the work we have been doing on and off the pitch over the last 17 years.
“Chelsea has a very rich history, and I feel extremely fortunate to play a part in that.
“The club was here before me, and will be here after me, but my job is to ensure we are as successful as we can be today, as well as build for the future.
“That’s why the success of our academy at Cobham [training ground] is so important to me.”

    STAYING PUT
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been omitted from Ghana’s squad for their upcoming fixtures due to coronavirus quarantine rules.
The £45million signing from Atletico Madrid has been left out of the squad as the Black Stars are set to play South Africa in their latest African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
South Africa is currently on the United Kingdom’s ‘red list’ of countries, meaning all arrivals from the Rainbow Nation must isolate for 10 days.
Despite strong calls, the Government have opted not to give international footballers exemptions from the quarantine rules.
With the prospect of Partey having to spend ten days in isolation before he’s allowed to return to training, Arsenal have opted to block the 27-year-old from linking up with his countrymen.
That means he’ll miss Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
    HOME COMFORTS
Man Utd outcast Sergio Romero has been enjoying more time at home in Argentina with his family ahead of his expected Old Trafford exit this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recalled the 34-year-old to the club’s Premier League squad last month in a surprise move.
But the out-of-favour keeper has been reunited with his loved ones over the past few days.
Wife Eliana Guercio revealed his return to Argentina with a photo showing his ripped stomach muscles and the message: “Guess who arrived?’
And she gave her Instagram followers a chuckle with a follow-up video showing Sergio jumping into their swimming pool to save their drowning dog after it fell in as he cuddled their other two pets.
One fan joked ‘another great save by Sergio Romero’ as he dived into the water to help it to safety.

    RIP PETER
Leeds’ all-time top goalscorer Peter Lorimer has tragically passed away at the age of 74.
The Whites legend scored 238 goals in 705 games in all competitions for the club.
He remains the youngest player to have donned the Leed shirt after making his debut on September 29, 1962 aged just 15 years and 289 days.
A club statement read: “Peter’s contribution to Leeds United will never be forgotten and his passing leaves another huge hole in the Leeds United family.
“He will always remain a club icon and his legacy at Elland Road will live on.
“Our thoughts are naturally with Peter’s wife Sue and the rest of his family at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Peter.”

    CARL IT OFF
Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos said Liverpool winger Mo Salah ‘won’t even get close’ to Sergio Ramos in their Champions League clash.
He said: “Salah isn’t even going to get close to Sergio. It will be an incident that will be talked about a lot.”
Before adding: “We’re going to play against a good team.
“The first match is at home, and Real Madrid’s form is much better, they must decide the tie at home.
“The important thing is that Zidane has all his players ready, and that the injured ones come back as quickly as possible.”
    ROMAN’S EMPIRE
Roman Abramovich has defended his record for sacking Chelsea managers.
The Russian billionaire sacked Frank Lampard in January – the 10th manager to get the axe in his 18-year reign at Stamford Bridge.
And Abramovich, in a rare interview with Forbes, insists he has no issues over his revolving door policy.
He said: “I think we are pragmatic in our choices. And we are comfortable making the right changes at the right time to ensure we can achieve our long-term ambitions.
“I hope it also says something about the clarity of the long-term ambition of the club.
“Those who join understand the objectives both on the pitch, as well as the wider positive role the club plays in the community.”
    PREM STAR FRAUD
Former Premier League ace Claus Lundekvam is to appear in court in Norway next month accused of benefit fraud.
The ex-Southampton captain, 48, is alleged to have falsely claimed dole while working on TV.
Lundekvam, who made 357 appearances for The Saints from 1996 to 2008, will appear in the dock in Bergen on April 1.
Prosecutors say the ex-Norway international defender received 523,000 kroner – about £44,000 – by submitting false declarations.
He allegedly claimed he worked 454 hours from January 1, 2017, to April 28, 2019.
However, he is accused of actually being in employment for 2,609 hours – meaning he was not entitled to claim that much.
He has been working as a soccer pundit for Norway’s TV2 station.
Former Southampton star Claud Lundekvam has been charged with benefit fraud
    PAUL TO PLAY FOR
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is pushing to get Paul Pogba signed up on a new contract and keep him at Old Trafford.
The club-record £89million signing returned from a ten-game injury absence to score the winner against AC Milan on Thursday night and send Manchester United into the Europa League quarter-finals.
French World Cup winner Pogba has only one year left on his deal and boss Solskjaer said: “Of course we’ve got discussions and talks.”
Those talks are around a new four-year deal with the option of a further year to take Pogba, 28, towards the end of his career.
With the economic downturn due to the Covid-19 pandemic few would be able to afford a player United valued at £180m when he was on the market two summers ago.
But they do not want to let him go even if there is a bid after what he showed when he came on as a half-time substitute in the San Siro — and scored the game’s only goal three minutes later.
Solskjaer said: “When you see Paul playing like he did against Milan, when you see him come back training, it shows how much he cares for us and how much he enjoys playing and how much we can benefit from having him here.”
    MARTINEZ CONTINUED
“I feel his situation can be solved a lot earlier than the Euros but only when Eden goes from day to day, we will see the final answer.
“Eden is in good spirits. He has moved quite quickly from the disappointment of not being on the pitch to seeing the next target.
“He has a clear focus of getting himself fit as quickly as he can and it is our responsibility to support him so he can achieve that.
“Knowing Eden and what we are dealing with is a player that has never been injured in his career and this is a real shock and something new and there is a lot of uncertainty around that.
“But in terms of the injury, I feel very positive that we can get to see the best Eden Hazard well before the Euros.”

Everton and Manchester City’s first ever encounter took place way back in 1899 in Manchester where the Merseysiders won 2-1 in the First Division.
Since then, the two Premier League sides have faced off a total of 189 times with City winning a mere majority of 74 games, compared to the Toffees’ 68 wins.
But Everton and the Manchester giants have only locked horns 10 times in the FA Cup throughout their long and glittering history.
The Merseysiders have won four times in the competition whereas the Citizens have only managed three victories in the process.
The two sides’ most recent encounter took place in the Premier League last month when City won 3-1 thanks to goals by Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva – Richarlison temporarily equalised for Everton that day

    GOOD EVENING FROM LIVERPOOL
Welcome to our live coverage of the FA Cup quarter-final clash between Everton and Manchester City at Goodison Park.
This marks the first FA Cup meeting between the Merseysiders and City since the 1980-1981 quarter-final tie, which the Citizens won 3-1 in a replay on their way to the final.
The Toffees are going to be missing both of their senior goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Robin Olsen due to injury and thus youngster Joao Virginia is going to start between the sticks.
Pickford aggravated a rib problem during last week’s loss to Burnley whereas Olsen is still nursing an abdominal muscle injury.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti’s injury problems don’t end there as he will also be without key players Fabian Delph (tendon), Abdoulaye Doucoure (foot) and James Rodriguez (calf).
City boss Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, has no injuries or suspensions to deal with after his team advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals.
However, that doesn’t mean Guardiola won’t be making any changes to his starting line-up as he is still targeting a historical quadruple this season.
Raheem Sterling could be among the City manager’s changes as the star winger hasn’t started in any of the Manchester giants’ last three matches

Bournemouth 0 Southampton 3 LIVE REACTION: FA Cup quarter-Redmond at the double after Djenepo opener – stream FREE

SOUTHAMPTON cruised to victory in their FA Cup quarter-final against rivals Bournemouth.Moussa Djenepo gave Saints the opener before Nathan Redmond’s double gave the visitors total command.
Stay up to date with the FA Cup quarter-final blog below…
THAT’S ALL FROM THE VITALITY STADIUM
So it’s the Saints who are the first team to progress to this year’s FA Cup semi-final and they done it in style.
The visitors had the ball in the back of the net early on in the first half but it was correctly ruled out for offside because Kyle-Walker Peters was unable to hold his run.
But Southampton continued to press and their services were rewarded when Nathan Redmond slipped in Moussa Djenepo for a one-on-one which the winger coolly dispatched on the 37th minute.
And Redmond got his name on the score sheet seven minutes later with a wonderful solo goal.
Make sure to check that out in the blog.
Bournemouth came out in the second half motivated and eager to get back into the game and to be fair to the Cherries, they did put up a fight.
But a mistake from their right-back Jack Stacey, presented Redmond to grab his second and Southampton’s third, ultimately wrapping up the tie with half an hour left to play.
Ralph Hasenhuttl will be proud of his side and so will the fans but the million dollar question is, why can’t the Saints do this in the league?
Thank you for sticking around people, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    WOODGATE’S ANALYSIS
The Cherries boss praising his players despite the result and focusing his attention on the league.
Jonathan Woodgate started off by saying: “What I would say is that the lads never gave up.
“They are a really side and their second goal was vital for them on the stroke of half-time poor play by us but it was our throw-in, clearly saw it was our throw-in.
“We got players out there to compete but like I said we never gave up and if we had the rest of the players then you never know.
“You’ve got to move on quick in this game. We’ve got a two week break now until we play Middlesbrough, we got nine big games to get to the play-offs.”
    POSSIBLE SEMI-FINAL OPPONENTS
At the start of the campaign Southampton probably wouldn’t have been in the conversation for teams to progress this far in the competition, but qualifying for the semi-finals puts lifting the trophy firmly on their radar.
However, the clubs the Saints could potentially face will be tough.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side will have to play either the winners of Everton v Manchester City, Chelsea v Sheffield United or Leicester v Manchester United.
The draw for the FA Cup semi-finals will be held on Sunday March 21st during the interval of Manchester United’s trip to Leicester.
You can tune into SunSport for all the live coverage on the day.
    HEAVILY INVOLVED

    REDMOND’S REACTION
The man of the match, Nathan Redmond discussed his side’s game plan and his solo goal this afternoon.
The attacker said: “We had aspirations of getting there [FA Cup final] at the start of the season but it’s a good chance for us to put the league form behind us.
“I think we was just trying to be in control of what we knew we could do which was try to eliminate their good style of play with how we press.
“We knew that if we stood on that forefront then we should have no problems but it was always going to be a tough game.
“This season, I’ve not really run at people this much and I’m trying to figure out why.
“As a wide player and an attacking player you go through dips and spells of confidence but I just had one thing in my head.”
“I just had one thing in my head, to try and get the team up the pitch.””It was something for us to aim for. We knew we wanted a #EmiratesFACup run this season.”🎙 Man of the Match Nathan Redmond catches up with @Becky_Ives_ following his brace against Bournemouth… pic.twitter.com/NbSQa8akdN— Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) March 20, 2021

    FULL TIME STATS
Bournemouth started bright but in the end, they were no match for a Southampton side who turned up today.
The Saints had more possession, more passes completed and more than double the shots on goal.

    SUPER SOUTHAMPTON
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side progress to the semi-finals making them one step closer to lifting their first trophy in 45 years.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
THAT’S IT, THE SAINTS GO MARCHING ON!
    WHAT AN EMPHATIC WIN!
    FT: BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
90+2. Talk about frustration from Surridge.
He’s just completely wiped out Salisu with a NFL type tackle and had it not been so close to the end of the game, the referee may have been tempted to class that as violent conduct.
    That was so unnecessary.
    THREE MINUTES OF ADDITIONAL TIME!
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    88. Another fantastic save from Forester who denied a Surridge header after some good build-up play by Bournemouth.
It wouldn’t of mattered much had that gone in but the Saints keeper is determined to keep a clean sheet.

    DOUBLE TROUBLE
The man who has been on fire, Nathan Redmond with the man who hasn’t stopped running, captain fantastic James Ward-Prowse.

    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    80. With ten minutes to go, Ralph Hasenhuttl has made a smart tactical substitution.
The Saints boss has taken off Jan Bednarek for Jack Stephens who is on a yellow card.
And Jannik Vestergaard for Mohammed Salisu just as rotation.
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    77. Ooof Danjuma almost got one back for the Cherries but Forster got a good hand to it, keeping his clean sheet in tact.
The Saints keeper hasn’t had much to do but when he’s been excellent when called upon.
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    74. SO CLOSE TO A HAT-TRICK!
Stuart Armstrong ran the length of the field and almost created a chance for himself at the end of it.
But the midfielder lost control of the ball and just as it seemed like the opportunity was gone, Nathan Redmond popped up with a first time inside curler that was inches away from going in.
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    72. Wow what a strike for Armstrong but Begovic done well to get down and palm it away.
The Saints are really going for Bournemouth’s throats this afternoon.
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    68. What a ball, right to the feet of Kyle Walker-Peters who has been making them runs all game.
Only this time, his cross was blocked by the face of cook before his defensive partner came on the scene to tidy up.
The Cherries are hanging on here and if they’re not careful, they could be on the end of a thrashing.

    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    66. Another roll of the dice from Jonathan Woodgate.
The Cherries boss has replaced Rico with Mepham.
    REDMOND AT THE DOUBLE
Nathan Redmond makes it two for him and three for the Saints and that should be enough to send his side through to the semi-finals.

    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    62. Jonathan Woodgate has replaced Riquelme and Pearson with Anthony and Surridge.
But it might be too little too late.

Jonathan Woodgate will be furious because this all came from poorly playing it out the back.
Stacey gave the ball away to Ward-Prowse who slipped it into Redmond.
Redmond found Armstrong on the edge of the box who went for the first time shot but he saw his spectacular effort come crashing off the post.
And the rebound kindly fell into the path of Redmond again who steered it home.
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 SOUTHAMPTON
    GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!
    REDMOND AGAINNNN!
    AND THIS ONE WILL COUNT!
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-2 SOUTHAMPTON
    56. Will that offside lift the spirits of Bournemouth knowing that they are still in the game?
    BOURNEMOUTH 0-2 SOUTHAMPTON
    55. So after multiple replays, VAR has gone in the favour of Bournemouth again and that could be a big decision because that surely would have been the tie wrapped up.
It was the correct the decision but Che Adams will be disappointed with the way he finished it.

UTD ‘TOO INCONSISTENT’ TO WIN FA CUP
Ex-Tottenham and England star Jermaine Jenas tips Chelsea to win the FA Cup but says Manchester United are ‘”just too inconsistent”.
Man City travel to Everton in the quarter-finals as bookies’ favourites to lift the cup in May, while Chelsea host Premier League bottom club Sheffield United on Sunday.
Championship side Bournemouth are at home to out-of-form Southampton and United visit Leicester.
Jenas – who is working with heycar, the sponsors of BT Sport’s Emirates FA Cup coverage – said: “Leicester struggled towards the end of last season and I see that happening a bit again this season.
“Whereas Manchester United are just too inconsistent, week to week.
“Chelsea might win it. They have found some form under Thomas Tuchel and I like what is going down there.
“With the form they’re in, they could be a side bet to Manchester City as winners this season.”
    BATTERED AND BRUCED
Steve Bruce admitted he is doing a shoddy job at Newcastle.
Two wins from 17 leaves the Magpies struggling to stay afloat after plunging from mid-table safety in the Premier League.
Defeat at Brighton tomorrow could be critical for Bruce.
And the under-fire Newcastle boss said: “That decision will always be taken out of my hands.
“I only want what’s best for the club and over the last few months, in particular, I haven’t been good enough to get the results this club demands.
    “I understand it totally.”
Three successive draws from winnable games against Wolves, West Brom and Aston Villa leaves the Toon Army fretting with 10 games left.
But despite it taking 19 games to pick up their last 18 points, Bruce is targeting the same tally in the home stretch.
    MALANG PRANG
Chelsea defender Malang Sarr was lucky to avoid injury after he smashed his £200,000 Mercedes into a lamp post.
The 22-year-old – who joined the Blues last summer before being loaned out to Porto – crashed his car shortly after leaving training.
Malang Sarr crashed his Mercedes shortly after leaving Porto’s training ground
According to Portuguese news outlet Record, the centre-back lost control of his vehicle just 100 metres after departing Porto’s training ground.
They state that the accident involving the France youth international occurred on Wednesday in the early afternoon.
Initial reports stated that Sarr’s team-mate Moussa Marega was also in the car, however those claims have been shut down by Record.
Sarr is said to have walked away from the accident unscathed after the airbags deployed, however his Mercedes was bashed up.
The former Nice star has impressed during his loan at Porto, where he has featured in 19 games in all competitions.
And he could face Chelsea next month after Porto were drawn against the West London outfit in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
    RUUD’S RON REGRET
Ruud Van Nistelrooy admits he was wrong to spark a training ground bust-up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
The Dutch striker had an altercation with Ronaldo in training after the then Portugal winger failed to provide a simple pass.
Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy had a spat while teammates at Man Utd
Van Nistelrooy went crazy but it was the catalyst which ended the Old Trafford career of the prolific forward, who scored an incredible 150 goals in 218 appearances.
Van Nistelrooy held his hands up and conceded he made a mistake when he told ex-United team-mate Rio Ferdinand on his Vibe with Five podcast: “I know that I was wrong in that situation.
“I immediately walked into the dressing room and I sat next to him and apologised for my behaviour when I calmed down.
“That frustration came from somewhere. Now when you are 44 and you look back on things and you know when things are going around you in your private life, things are going on and sometimes can make you frustrated.
“That incident led to a discussion with Cristiano. Of course, you need to realise then and you have to be big enough to acknowledge that.”
    THEATRE OF STREAMS
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has landed a huge transfer-fund boost after Manchester United announced a new £235million, five-year shirt sponsorship deal with global technology firm TeamViewer.
United said: “The agreement will bring together one of the world’s most popular and successful sports teams with one of Europe’s fastest-growing software companies.“The partnership will harness the power of Manchester United’s unrivalled global platform to showcase the unique capabilities of TeamViewer to transform the way the world works and interacts.
“The partnership will introduce Manchester United and its 1.1billion fans and followers around the world to exciting new technology drawing on TeamViewer’s expertise in remote connectivity services.
“TeamViewer will enable Manchester United to bring its fans even closer to the team they love through ground-breaking AR solutions and remote access to the Theatre of Dreams.”
    UNITED ARE EUROPA LEAGUE FAVOURITES
United are warm favourites ahead of Arsenal to win the Europa League after an advantageous quarter-final draw today.
AC Milan’s conquerors United are 6/4 after being paired with Granada, whilst Arsenal are second favourites on 13/5 as they face Slavia Prague.
Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Apati said: “Things are shaping up nicely for an all-English Europa League final.”
    Ladbrokes odds: Man Utd – 6/4, Arsenal – 13/5, Ajax – 6/1, Villarreal – 6/1, Roma – 8/1, Granada – 25/1, Slavia Prague – 28/1, Dinamo Zagreb – 40/1
    FULL DRAW – QUARTER-FINALS: Granada v Manchester United, Arsenal v Slavia Prague, Ajax v Roma, Dinamo Zagreb v Villarreal.SEMI-FINALS: Granada/Manchester United v Ajax/Roma, Dinamo Zagreb/Villarreal v Arsenal/Slavia Prague.
    PEP HAILS HAALAND
Pep Guardiola hailed Erling Haaland as one of the world’s top strikers as he prepares to go up against the Borussia Dortmund hot-shot.
Manchester City are leading the race to land the Norwegian striker this summer – although they face competition from the top teams in Europe.
And Guardiola will get the chance to have a good look at him after his team were paired with the Germans in the Champions League quarter finals.
The City boss admits he has had not had the chance to watch too much of him due to the congested nature of his own team’s season.
But he said: “The numbers speak for themselves, one of the best in the world at his age.
“I saw few games but I’ve seen highlights and the numbers are impressive. I know the quality of him and I think everyone knows,
“I am going to try to see some games in the international break and in two weeks, I will answer better.”
    MORRISON’S LATEST CHANCE
Former Manchester United prodigy Ravel Morrison is training with Sheffield Wednesday ahead of a possible free transfer.
The 28-year-old midfielder was tipped as a youngster to be one of England’s hottest prospects, but he failed to develop into a world class player.
And now, after spells at the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough, Morrison is linking up with Wednesday as he looks to save them from relegation to the third tier.
Having trained recently with Huddersfield Town, The Star understand he is now with Wednesday and close to reaching a free transfer agreement.
    SACK RACE
Jose Mourinho needs a ‘miracle’ to stave off the sack at Spurs, according to reports.
Tottenham were humiliated by Dinamo Zagreb last night, meekly exiting the Europa League at the round of 16 stage.
The Portuguese is understood to have no break clause in his contract, meaning chairman Daniel Levy will have to pay a pretty penny to give him the boot.
But according to Telegraph sources, Mourinho now requires a ‘miracle’ to hold onto his job beyond the end of this season.
Following last night’s 3-0 humbling, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris labelled the performance a ‘disgrace’, while pointing to division behind the scenes.
Mourinho, 58, was appointed in November 2019.

    FOR FOX SAKE
Manchester United travel to Leicester this weekend as their attentions turn to the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Here’s how SunSport’s Will Pugh thinks that the Red Devils could line up.
How Man Utd could line up this weekend
    RICE ONE HARRY
Manchester United fans were left delighted after Declan Rice congratulated Harry Maguire on their ‘incredible’ win over AC Milan.
Red Devils ace Maguire captained his team to a clean sheet and a 1-0 win on the night to win 2-1 on aggregate and qualify for the Europa League quarter-finals.
Paul Pogba came off the bench at half-time and had an almost immediate impact – scoring the winner just minutes later.
And Maguire-led United held on for the win.
The England centre-back posted a picture of himself walking out onto the pitch at the famous old stadium.
He captioned the post: “Leading the lads out to victory at the San Siro.”
And his Three Lions team-mate Rice replied: “Incredible bro.”
More than 115 people had liked the comment within 12 minutes of it going live.
Several replied with heart emojis and urged the midfielder to join the Reds.
United fans were loving the interaction
    KEEP KOEMAN
Barcelona’s dressing room is reportedly trying to insist manager Ronald Koeman is kept on for another season despite rumours of Xavi taking over in the summer.
Koeman, 57, came under fire after Barca were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain last week.
But the Catalan side’s upturn in form in LaLiga has seen them move to within four points of table toppers Atletico Madrid.
And according to Sport, this has led to the players calling for Koeman to remain in charge despite talk of legendary midfielder Xavi taking over at the club.
Speculation surrounds the future of both Koeman and Lionel Messi at Camp Nou
    ART ATTACK
Mikel Arteta has taken aim at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Arsenal skipper spurned a number of chances against Olympiacos on Thursday.
The Gunners limped through to the quarter-finals despite losing 1-0 to the Greek outfit at the Emirates as they won 3-2 on aggregate.
And commenting on Aubameyang’s missed chances against Olympiacos, Arteta said: “I hope the weekend isn’t still on his mind.
“We moved on, he started and we expect when he does play he performs at the level he can.
“We had a tough opponent, we knew that, we knew that they weren’t going to give up, so happy to be through.
“But at the same time we have to be fair with ourselves and today we were nowhere near the levels that we have to set ourselves.
“It has been a really demanding week but I don’t think we have to use any excuses. We have refreshed the team, we have players that they were fresh, and we know the importance of the competition.”
Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failed to impress against Olympiacos on Thursday
    RODGER THAT
Brendan Rodgers is the standout favourite to replace Jose Mourinho as Tottenham manager.
That’s according to odds supplied by bookmakers Betfair, who’ve installed the Leicester boss as the 6/4 market leader to be appointed on a permanent basis in North London.
Next Tottenham Manager odds – Betfair

    Brendan Rodgers – 6/4
    Max Allegri – 7/2
    Julian Nagelsmann – 5/1
    Carlo Ancelotti – 10/1
    Diego Simeone – 12/1
    Dean Smith – 16/1
    Adi Hutter – 20/1
    Julen Lopetegui – 25/1

Diego Simeone, Brendan Rodgers and Carlo Ancelotti have been linked with the Tottenham job, say Betfair
    HART IN MOUTH
Joe Hart has apologised after his social media team posted ‘job done’ following Tottenham’s shock exit in the Europa League.
The Lilywhites were dumped out in stunning fashion as Dinamo Zagreb came from two goals down to win the last 16 tie 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Mislav Orsic.
And Hart, who played no part in the game, was left with egg on his face after the match when his Instagram posted ‘job done’ despite the defeat.
Explaining his team’s mistake on Friday morning, Hart said: “I feel like I need to come on and make an apology on behalf of my social media team, I’ve literally just woke up.
“Someone thought that we’d won 3-0 last night. As sloppy as it sounds it’s the truth.
“They posted ‘job done’. That’s unacceptable. I’m sure that’s annoyed a lot of people and I’m sorry it’s come to that but it’s obviously not come from me.
“I’ve got nothing but love for the club and support for the team and I’m just as down as the boys are.
“So apologies, unfortunately stuff like this happens, but just know it didn’t come from any other place other than a typo. Have a great day.”
Joe Hart’s social media team made the gaffe last night
    GETTING SHIRTY
Manchester United have announced TeamViewer will be their new shirt sponsor.
The Red Devils’ deal with the global technology company will commence at the start of the 2021/21 side and will last for five years.
An excerpt of the club statement read: “Manchester United today announced that it has signed a new five-year agreement with the global technology company TeamViewer as its principal shirt partner.
“The partnership will begin with the 2021/2022 season.
“The agreement will bring together one of the world’s most popular and successful sports teams with one of Europe’s fastest-growing software companies.”
Manchester United’s main kit sponsor will be global technology company TeamViewer
    ERL OF BARCA
Barcelona ‘must slash players’ wages and sell stars’ if they want to sign Erling Haaland this summer.
The 20-year-old Norwegian has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp after a remarkable campaign with Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland’s contract with Dortmund has a release clause of £66million.
But it is being reported that the Bundesliga side will not accept any fee less than £130m for the world class goalscorer.
Therefore, if Barcelona were to pay that amount for Haaland he would come within touching distance of the club’s record transfer fee which was £145m for Philippe Coutinho in 2018.
Haaland has established himself as one of the very best strikers in the world
    EUROPA LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL DRAW
Manchester United could face either Ajax or AS Roma, while Arsenal could come up against Spurs’ conquerors Dinamo Zagreb or Villarreal.

    RON THE WAY?
Real Madrid star Marcelo has teased fans that rumoured Manchester United target Cristiano Ronaldo could return to the Bernabeu from Juventus in the summer.
Speculation has been rife that Los Blancos could re-sign the 36-year-old, with the Portugal international reportedly keen to make the switch.
With just a year remaining on his deal in Italy, it has been claimed that Juve could cash in on the five-time Ballon d’Or winner at the end of the season.
Amid the ongoing rumours, left-back Marcelo has hinted that Ronaldo could be in line for a shock return.
The Brazilian commented on an Instagram video of him and Ronaldo celebrating after the victory against the Reds in Kiev three years ago.
Captioning the post, 433 said: “That @marcelotwelve @cristiano connection @realmadrid.”
Marcelo was quick to respond, as he simply stated, ‘Soon,’ followed by two emojis that have been left open to interpretation.

    REDS REST
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given at least SEVEN first-team stars the week off to recover from a gruelling season.
The Reds don’t play again until their April 4 showdown with Arsenal thanks to the international break.
Liverpool had been due to face Chelsea this weekend, but that game has now been pushed back due to the Blues’ involvement in the FA Cup.
And Klopp has given a handful of his exhausted players some much needed rest and relaxation time before they head off on international duty.
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum, Thiago, Diogo Jota and Andrew Robertson are claimed to have been given the week to relax, according to The Athletic.

    VAN DER SHRIEK
Donny van de Beek poured cold water on suggestions he is unhappy at Manchester United with his passionate celebration during the Red Devils’ win at AC Milan.
The Dutchman has struggled for game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He joined United from Ajax in a £39million move at the end of last season.
But the 23-year-old has played just 26 times in all competitions since the transfer.
Reports in recent days suggested the Holland international wants to quit Old Trafford already because of a lack of game time.
Dutch legend Ronald de Boer also confirmed the midfielder is ‘not happy’ with the amount of time he has spent out of the team and the squad.
But the Ajax youth coach added he is certain Van de Beek is willing to stay and fight for his place.
And judging by the 17-cap star’s reaction to Paul Pogba’s winner in Italy on Thursday, former Barcelona ace De Boer is right.
Pogba replaced injured Marcus Rashford at half-time with the score at 0-0 on the night and 1-1 on aggregate.
Donny couldn’t hide his delight when Pogba scored
    THE TIEL DEAL
