    PEP ON HAALAND
After Man Utd target Erling Haaland arrived in Manchester with his Borussia Dortmund team-mates, Pep Guardiola said: “A player who can score this amount of goals at this age has not been easy to find in the past, honestly.
“He’s 20, the numbers speak for themselves. When that happens it’s because he can score right, left, counter-attacks, penalty box, headers.
“He’s a fantastic striker, everyone knows it. A blind guy can realise he’s a great striker, you don’t have to be a manager to realise it.
“The only thing I can say is that he is an exceptional striker. With his age, he is an exceptional striker.”
The Dortmund bus rolled into town as the Bundesliga boys checked in at The Lowry Hotel
    EYE FOR GOAL
Pep Guardiola says even a blind man would be able to see the quality of Manchester United target Erling Haaland.
The Manchester City boss distanced himself from reports linking the club with the Norwegian last week.
But he will get a close-up look at the 20-year-old hotshot – who arrived in Manchester wearing a Sky Blue backpack – when the two teams go head-to-head at the Etihad on Tuesday night.
Haaland has already scored ten goals in the competition this season and is rated in the £150million bracket by his German club.
Guardiola insists City will not be paying that kind of money for anyone this summer – but knows all about his ability.
And he knows his team will have to be at their best to keep him out during the two legs of the Champions League quarter-final…

    CAL ON ME
Juventus are in pole position to sign AC Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu, according to reports.
The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season and negotiations with his current club are believed to have stalled.
According to Sky Sport in Italy, Calhanoglu may remain at Milan beyond this summer as the two parties are still discussing a new deal.
Journalist Manuele Baiocchini is suggesting the player is wanting €1million, or £850,000, more a year than the Rossoneri are currently offering.
Should talks end without a signature, Juventus are believed to be in pole position to sign Calhanoglu.
The Turkey international has previously been a target for Manchester United, with reports suggesting he was close to signing a pre-contract agreement in November.

    GET IN MA-SON!
Bruno Fernandes hailed Mason Greenwood for his winner against Brighton but warned the forward he cannot just care about goals.
The Portugal international also explained Greenwood may find things more difficult as his reputation increases. Despite that, Fernandes is confident Greenwood will improve his goalscoring form but emphasised that he must get his temperament right.
Fernandes told MUTV: “Everyone has to know that Mason is a young player and now everyone is starting to know how Mason is, it will become more and more difficult for him.
“It is normal. It is part of the development for him and he will learn from here so it doesn’t matter how many goals he scores; the most important thing for us is that he still helps the team and he is doing his best.
“It is important for us as a team, it doesn’t matter who scores. If Mason scores for us or not, it is important if he can do other jobs, recover balls, pressing, defend when we need it, make assists, create danger.
“So it is not important for him to score. He has to understand, he is such a young lad. Of course, every striker wants to score but, anyway, he will score more and more goals as the seasons pass.”

    LUK AND LEARN
Romelu Lukaku surpassed Ronaldo’s Inter Milan goal record – with 13 games to spare.
The former Manchester United striker, 27, swapped Old Trafford for the San Siro in 2019 for £73million. And since then he has been in red-hot form.
In 86 appearances for Inter, Lukaku has a staggering 60 goals.
He managed 34 in 51 last term and his winning goal at Bologna on Saturday took his tally this season to 26 in 35. And that means the Belgian hitman is more prolific than the Brazilian icon.
The ‘original’ Ronaldo – nicknamed the Phenomenon – moved to Inter in 1997 after one staggering season with Barcelona where he scored 47 goals.
R9 managed 59 goals for the Serie A giants – but did so in 99 matches across five injury-hit years. Lukaku also has more assists than Ronaldo for Inter, with 13 to 12.

    DOR CLOSED
Borussia Dortmund are determined to keep Manchester United target Erling Haaland this summer.
Club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Goal: “We will discuss this with Erling, his father and his agent Mino Raiola.
“We also want him to be happy to stay with us, to score goals for BVB next year with conviction. There is no alternative plan.”

    A TELL-TALE
Manchester United are ready to offer Alex Telles to Sporting Lisbon on loan in a player-plus-cash deal for Nuno Mendes, reports say.
Telles was signed from Sporting’s rivals Porto this summer for £15.3million to provide competition for Luke Shaw.
But Shaw’s form has been so impressive, Telles has only played seven times in the league, with his other 14 appearances coming in cup competition.
It leaves his Old Trafford future up in the air, and according to Portuguese newspaper Record, United are willing to see the left-back leave.
They are understood to be plotting a deal for Telles, 28, to be used as ‘a bargaining chip’ to sign fellow full-back Mendes.
The offer could include a £33.9million fee for Sporting and a season-long loan of Telles.
United would still need to cover at least part of the Portugal international’s wages.

    TEENAGE KICKS
Mason Greenwood scored his 12th Premier League goal as a teen for Man United yesterday.
And he’s not in bad company!
The 19-year-old still has until his birthday in October to add to his already impressive tally.

    LUC WHO IT IS
Manchester United and Chelsea are set to do battle for Lucas Vazquez, according to reports.
The Spaniard is set to be out of contract in the summer, when his Real Madrid deal expires.
ACB claim that the right-sided player turned down Madrid’s latest offer, putting Premier League sides on red alert.
The 29-year-old has been playing as a wing-back of late, but made his name at Santiago Bernabeu as a winger.

    MASE RATES
Mason Greenwood has been working on his heading… and it showed yesterday against Brighton!
Here’s what he had to say to MUTV after bagging the crucial winner.

    WATZ THAT ALL ABOUT?
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has defiantly claimed that it will take an ‘exceptional offer’ for Man United target Jadon Sancho to leave the club this summer.
He told DAZN: “I’m not getting involved in probabilities, it’s no good. Jadon Sancho has been with us much longer than Erling Haaland.
“We’ll have to speak to Jadon too. If there is an exceptional offer, we will discuss it with the player and the agent, as always. Nonetheless, I am very sure that the transfer market will only run to a very limited extent this summer.
“Especially at the very big clubs, you can see what kind of wounds coronavirus has inflicted – and they are not small ones that heal within two weeks.”

    COMEBACK KINGS
Last night’s come-from-behind victory over Brighton made it 25 POINTS taken from losing positions this season for Manchester United.
You can never count Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men out.

    FERN TACKLE
Bruno Fernandes says he missed Marcus Rashford’s equaliser against Brighton last night, despite being credited with the assist.
The Manchester United star was hacked down by Joel Veltman after playing the ball, but the defender didn’t receive a yellow card for the challenge.
Speaking to MUTV after the match, Fernandes said: “I didn’t see it because someone almost broke my ankle!
“But I’m happy for the team, I am happy for Marcus. It was a good effort because as everyone knows he has come back from injury and he’s helped us.
“This effort comes from everyone. The press for the first goal was good it made them do the wrong ball and I recovered the ball and passed to Marcus and he scores.
“Everyone is happy when we win and it doesn’t matter who scores.”
The 26-year-old claims he missed the goal after being fouled
    FEEL THE BRUN
    What a touch this was!

    NOT GUNNAR HAPPEN
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruled out a move for Sergio Aguero.
He said: “When I played for Man Utd, if a rival club tried to sign me, and I had gone, well where’s the loyalty?
“Loyalty is one of the values I really, really put highly. I wouldn’t expect any player who has played for a club for 10 years to want to go to their local rivals.
“It’s not for me. I know we’re professionals, but when you play for Man Utd you don’t go to Man City. We’ve had examples of that and I didn’t really agree with it.
“I won’t name names but you all know who I mean. Enough said.”

    RAF TRADE
Former Spurs star Rafael van der Vaart has urged Harry Kane against moving to Real Madrid – instead favouring a transfer to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman told Ziggo Sport: “He is now the best striker after [Robert] Lewandowski, and he is the man at Tottenham.
“It may sound crazy, but you would almost say go to Manchester United or something, stay in England.
“Usually, it’s not such a success when an English player goes to Madrid.”
Van der Vaart has urged Kane to ignore interest from Madrid
    DEM ONES
Manchester United are in ‘regular contact’ with Ousmane Dembele’s agent, according to reports.
But they may face stiff competition for the 23-year-old should they attempt to sign him, with Liverpool also rumoured to be interested.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, United have been monitoring the player for some time and tried to sign him on loan last summer.
Dembele is out of contract at the end of next season but could yet sign a new deal at Barcelona.
The Red Devils are believed to be in regular contact with the player’s agent, with Edinson Cavani likely to leave Old Trafford at the end of this season.
But they may have to beat Juventus to his signature, should they decide to pursue him.
Several top European clubs are believed to be interested in signing Dembele, 23
    JUAN MORE YEAR
Manchester United star Juan Mata is set to be given a new one-year deal at the club, according to reports.
The 32-year-old hasn’t featured much under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season but is believed to be still in his plans.
According to the Daily Star, United will activate a one-year extension in Mata’s contract.
Rumours of a new deal are a surprise as he’s made just seven Premier League appearances this season.
But the former Spain international may still leave the club even if his contract is extended.
The Red Devils may add a further year to his deal just to command a transfer fee this summer.
They are reported to want around £5million for the player.
It is believed Mata, 32, will be given a new contract at Old Trafford
    TUCHY SUBJECT
Chelseaa boss Thomas Tuchel refused to rule out a swoop for Man United target Erling Haaland as transfer talks continue for the Borussia Dortmund striker.
The Blues are desperate to land a new No9 this summer to bolster their attack – with the Norwegian, 20, their primary target.
Haaland’s dad Alf-Inge and agent Mino Raiola – who could bag up to £25million from any deal – have held discussions with Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain before heading to England to meet with Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.
But Tuchel did not give anything away when quizzed on any potential meeting between Haaland’s representatives and the Blues.
The German said: “I will not answer that, out of respect for the player and for Borussia Dortmund.
“He’s a Borussia Dortmund player, and of course there’s big news around him and his agent. And it seems like they are creating a race for the player.
“But still everybody needs to accept, and I will fully accept, that he is a Borussia Dortmund player, a very promising player of course.
“But with respect to the situation, he’s not in our squad, he’s not in our club so there’s no comment on anything else regarding him.”
Erling Haaland is top of Chelsea’s transfer wish list for the upcoming summer transfer window

    MORNING UNITED FANS
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims United belatedly “lit the fireworks” to clinch last night’s 2-1 comeback win over Brighton.
But a new injury doubt over Marcus Rasfhord and a positive Covid-19 test for Eric Bailly dampened Solskjaer’s mood.
Mason Greenwood and Rashford fired home on 62 and 83 minutes after United old boy Danny Welbeck hit an early opener.
And Solskjaer admitted: “I thought we started well but when they scored, after that we couldn’t find our rhythm again.
“Second half we played some good stuff. More runs in behind, more movement, better movement.
“Sometimes after international breaks it takes time – and then maybe the fireworks have to be lit at half-time.”
Of Rashford’s late substitution, the Norwegian said: “You just hope he can recover from it. He had to come off, but he’s a tough one.”
Solskjaer also confirmed centre-back Bailly will be out “a little while” after contracting coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Juventus have reportedly told Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola they can’t afford to re-sign the United midfielder.
    THERE’S NAY BETTER FEELING
Blissful Manchester United keeper David de Gea posted a selfie with “my little princess” – his month-old daughter Yanay.
The Spaniard was back on the bench for United’s 2-1 win over Brighton tonight following paternity leave.
But judging by this delightful photo, the last thing on his mind is the struggle to displace Dean Henderson between the sticks.
Yanay is the first child for De Gea and his pop star partner Edurne.

    BAILLY OUT WITH COVID-19
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tonight revealed Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly will be out “a little while” after testing positive for Covid-19.
The Ivory Coast star, 26, is said to be still out of the country due to contracting the coronavirus.
Bailly was already struggling to break up Harry Maguire’s defensive partnership with Victor Lindelof, having been troubled with injuries this season.

POTTER: I THOUGHT IT WAS A PENALTY
Brighton boss Graham Potter admits he thought Danny Welbeck HAD won a penalty in the latest VAR controversy – before United battled back for victory.
Brighton’s United old boy scorer Welbeck seemed goalbound when he faltered under the challenge of Harry Maguire but the Seagulls’ fierce appeals were rejected, including after replays.
Potter told the BBC: “When it was live I thought it was a penalty then I suppose it’s the clear and obvious debate. If Mike Dean had given it I don’t think VAR would have over-ruled it.”
He added: “We contributed well in the game. We took the lead and were probably the team which carried the most threat in the first half.
“We just missed that final pass. Man Utd responded in the second half without creating too many chances.”

Newcastle’s Arsenal loanee Joe Willock pounced late on for a point-saver – after Harry Kane’s clinical double for Spurs.

But Willock levelled five minutes from time after after Miguel Almiron’s shot was cleared from the line.
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I am frustrated. We needed to win the match and we came to win. We were not far from winning but… created some instability with so many individual defensive mistakes.”
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said: “I thought we were the better team and had an edge and energy about us.
“They deserved to win the game and it was the performance I was delighted with.”

    VAN NOT MOVING
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is set to stay at the club this summer after re-discovering his form during the international break.
The Dutch star scored in Netherlands’ 7-0 victory over Gibraltar on Tuesday.
Van de Beek will be hoping to kick on as he returns to Old Trafford
But he has failed to find his form throughout his first season with Man Utd, featuring in just 13 Premier League games since arriving at the start of the campaign.
That has led to rumours around Van de Beek’s future at the Theatre of Dreams. But according to The Telegraph, Solskjaer insists Van de Beek is in no mood to give up.
The Red Devils boss said: “Donny scored some absolute crackers when we were all back in training on Friday.
“He scored some absolute top, top goals that I’d be really proud of myself and it’s done him the world of good, going away and scoring a goal for Holland.
“We hope we can see a lot of that for the next eight weeks of the season and then to kick on again.
“Sometimes it’s natural that if you don’t play and have injuries you lose a little bit of confidence and spark.
“Then you go away with your national team and feel good. I can talk from my own experience, sometimes I went back to play for Norway and you get the feel about yourself better.”
    NEYMAR ‘KEEN ON MESSI REUNION’
Neymar has reportedly put talks over a new Paris Saint-Germain contract on hold.
Catalan newspaper Ara claim the Brazilian is keen on reuniting with Lionel Messi and is confident the Argentine will remain at Barcelona.
The report adds that Neymar believes his ex-MSN partner will pen a new deal at the Camp Now.
And the 29-year-old is also said to have informed his former employer Barca of his willingness to return to Spain.
The stance marks a dramatic U-turn following reports last month that Neymar was closing in on a new mega-money PSG contract.
The forward was said to be is in the final stages of agreeing terms on a new five-year deal to keep him in France until 2026.
That itself came amid stories that Neymar could be set for a stunning exit this summer with his current contract expiring in 2022.
The PSG star, who is already the top earner in Ligue 1 on £607,000-a-week, would be in line for further Champions League-related bonuses.
His new pay packet is unlikely to see him overtake Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, who are the two top earners in European football.
    PIRLO CRUNCH TIME
Andrea Pirlo could lose his job as Juventus boss if they are beaten by Napoli on Wednesday, according to reports in Italy.
The Serie A champions dropped yet more points in the league on Saturday as they were held to a 2-2 draw away at Torino.
The result leaves Juventus, who have won the title in each of the last nine seasons, clinging on to a Champions League qualification place with just ten games remaining.
And in midweek they will travel to fifth place Napoli who are only behind Pirlo’s side on goal difference.
According to Tuttosport ‘alarm bells are ringing’ at Juve and Pirlo could find himself out the door if they lose in Naples.
As well as their domestic struggles, Juve were dumped out of the Champions League last month.
In a quite incredible second leg against Porto, the Italian champions lost on away goals despite beating the Portuguese side 3-2 in Turin.
It is the second successive season that the Old Lady have failed to reach the quarter-finals in Europe.

    MINA OPPORTUNITY
Everton centre-half Yerry Mina wants a move to Italy’s Serie A, REPORTS ALAN NIXON.
The Colombian seems set to leave Goodison in the summer and both Inter Milan and Fiorentina have been alerted.
Mina, 26, joined the Toffees from Barcelona in a £28.5million deal in 2018.
Everton are also on the lookout for a new keeper as Swede Robin Olsens loan from Roma ends soon.
Meanwhile, Mina, who scored against England in the World Cup, has had a mixed time on Merseyside with injuries and some inconsistent form.
The towering defender only recently returned following a calf issue he picked up in Everton’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in February.
    HAALAND BOOST
Erling Haaland’s future at Borussia Dortmund was put in more doubt on Saturday as his side fell further behind in pursuit of a Champions League place.
Eintracht Frankfurt struck three minutes from time to hand Dortmund a tenth Bundesliga defeat of the season, going down 2-1 at home.
The result leaves Haaland and co seven points adrift of Frankfurt, who occupy the all-important fourth Champions League qualification place.
Dortmund’s domestic struggles have arisen despite Haaland’s truly sensational campaign.
The Norwegian has scored 33 goals in 32 games so far this season, 21 of which have come in the Bundesliga.
The best route now for Dortmund to get into the Champions League next season may well be to win the competition.
The German side have progressed through to the last eight but face the ominous task of taking on Pep Guardiola’s ruthless Manchester City side.
    ‘TOP FELLA’
Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has rubbished suggestions of Paul Pogba being a bad influence, insisting the midfielder is a ‘top fella’.
The France international’s commitment to the Red Devils has been questioned by many over the years, with several pundits branding the former Juve man as ‘lazy’.

World Cup winner Pogba has also been accused of being a negative influence in the dressing room.
But according to Henderson, both claims couldn’t be any further from the truth.
During an appearance on YouTube channel UMM, he said: “It’s not true what a lot of people say about him, he’s a real, real top fella.
“I’ve got a lot of time for Paul and he’s always willing to help me and stuff like that.
“So shout out to him as well.”
    EVAN SENT – EXCLUSIVE
Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock is hoping to snatch striker Ched Evans from Preston , WRITES ALAN NIXON.
The Boro gaffer fancies the 32-year-old on a free transfer.
The Wales international’s deal at Deepdale expires at the end of the season.
Boro are also targeting Oxford goalkeeper Jack Stevens as well as Evans.
Evans only joined the Lilywhites on an initial loan transfer from League One outfit Fleetwood Town in January.
Preston turned his deal into a permanent stay a month later, but it remains to be seen whether he will offered a contract extension.
The ex-Sheffield United ace has impressed during his short stay – chipping in with three goals in 14 Championship appearances.
    KNEE BOTHER
David Luiz will miss both legs of Arsenal’s Europa League quarter-final against Slavia Prague after undergoing a knee operation.
The Brazilian defender, 33, went under the knife today after suffering the injury in training last week.

An Arsenal spokesman confirmed: “David underwent a small procedure on his right knee on Sunday morning.
“The procedure has been a success and David is now back at home rehabilitating.
“He will be able to return to daily support and recovery with our medical team at the training centre in the coming days.
“He is expected to be back to full fitness and available for selection in the upcoming weeks.”
    HEND OF THE ROAD
Dean Henderson is thought to have been selected to start against Brighton over David De Gea, according to reports.
The Manchester Evening News reports Henderson will get the nod tonight in a sign he is the new No1.
Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are fit for the game and were pictured arriving at The Lowry Hotel with the rest of the squad.
Victor Lindelof is also thought to have been included despite not training on Friday.
    LOST HIS TUCH
Thomas Tuchel was two games short of equalling Maurizio Sarri’s Prem record for the best unbeaten start to a season.
But the shock 5-2 hammering at home to West Brom left him stuck in third place on the leaderboard of best Premier League starts.

Contacts close to Louis-Dreyfus in France reveal that he has earmarked £60million for new faces for Sunderland.
But that cash will NOT be spent all at once.
The 23-year-old vowed to rebuild Sunderland earlier this year after slamming his predecessors for “asset-stripping” the League One club.
Heir to an estimated £4billion fortune, the new Black Cats owner acquired a majority stake from Stewart Donald back in February.

As many are left struggling to contain their out of control manes, Attwell decided to boldly shave his back and sides, while failing to attempt any fade on top.
And his new look caused quite a stir on social media, as one user stated it was more entertaining than the Reds’ one-sided affair at the Emirates.
They quipped: “Most entertaining thing I’ve seen in these 45 minutes is Stewart Atwell’s hair.”
Another added: “Someone tell Stuart Atwell that a #PeakyBlinders haircut is not for everyone.”
    WHAT IS THE MATA?
Juan Mata is set to stay at Manchester United for another year – unless the Red Devils receive a bid of around £5million.
Mata joined from Chelsea in January 2014 but has struggled for game time this season.

And the Daily Star reports United will trigger a one-year extension on the Spanish playmaker’s contract.

    ‘THE CHEEK’
Arsenal fans have jokingly accused Jurgen Klopp of ‘tapping up’ Martin Odegaard following Liverpool’s demolition of the Gunners.
The defending Premier League champions ran riot against the north Londoners on Saturday night, beating Mikel Arteta’s troops 3-0 at the Emirates.

But some of the Emirates faithful were more concerned about Klopp’s post-match conversation and embrace with Real Madrid loanee Odegaard than the team’s lacklustre display.
One Gunners fan tweeted: “Klopp tapping Odegaard up at the end lmao could that game get any worse?”
Another said: “Klopp adding insult to injury by tapping up Odegaard.”
    IT’S A MI-NO FOR JUVE
Juventus have reportedly told Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola they can’t afford to re-sign the Manchester United midfielder.
The Red Devils brought Pogba back to Old Trafford from Turin in 2016 for £89million.
And Juve would reportedly love to have him back in Serie A.
But Stretty News reports the Old Lady have told super agent Raiola they do not have the cash required amid the pandemic.
    AFTV RESPECT
Popular Arsenal fan platform AFTV honoured former star Claude Callegari after his death.
Claude died aged 58 from natural causes on March 29.

And AFTV chose the 19th minute to pay Callegari a heartfelt tribute as his birthday was on October 19, 1962.
When that time came during the match at the Emirates, all those watching from the AFTV studio stood up and applauded.
Those watching the YouTube stream also sent in messages of respect for Callegari, filling the comments section with “RIP Claude”.
    HEAD TO HEAD
Both sides desperately need a win when Newcastle host Tottenham at 2.05pm today.
But the head to head records could barely be closer!

    BEEK IN FORM
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskajer reckons Donny van de Beek could finally hit his straps at the end of this season.
The Norwegian revealed the former Ajax man was rejuvenated by a stint with the Holland side during the international break.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tipped Donny van de Beek to come goodCredit: Reuters
He even marked his return to Carrington by scoring some belters at Carringotn.
Solskjaer said: “He scored some absolute crackers in training [on Friday]. Sometimes it’s natural that if you don’t play and have injuries you lose a little bit of confidence and spark.
“Then you go away with your national team, and I can talk from my own experience, sometimes I went back to play for Norway and you get to feel better about yourself.
“In training Donny scored some absolutely top, top goals that I’d be really proud of myself. It’s done him the world of good, going away and scoring a goal for Holland.
“We hope we can see a lot of that for the next eight weeks of the season and then to kick on again.”
    ART ATTACK
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has stated that his players need to show ‘big balls’ as he issued a personal apology to the club’s fan base following the Liverpool defeat.
The Reds eased to a 3-0 victory at the Emirates on Saturday as Diogo Jota helped himself to a brace off the bench, while Mo Salah also got in on the act.
Despite missing a number of key players, Arteta declared: “Liverpool completely deserved to win the game, probably by a bigger margin. They were better in every department.
“We need to apologise to our people, to our fans. I have to apologise for what we’ve done on that pitch. I am fully responsible. They were much better than us in every department.
“They won every duel, every second ball, every challenge. It was one of the worst (performances of Arteta’s time at Arsenal).
“I don’t have to use any excuses, that we don’t have five, six players – it’s not about that. I don’t care who was missing. I hate excuses. They were much better than us in every single department.
“The standard has to be higher for this football club and my job is to get them to perform at that level.”

“Boxing has been good to me, but I want to go home to my beautiful wife and kids. I want to dedicate my life to them,” Frampton says.
“I got beat by the better man. He’s sharp, shooting from a distance.
“I had an amazing camp, but I was beaten by the better man. He’s the champion, interview him.”
    HEARTBREAK
Great stoppage in there from Jamel Herring, but a heartbreaking night for Carl Frampton.
ROUND SIX – HERRING STOPS FRAMPTON!
Another big left hand from Herring puts Frampton onto his back foot.
And Frampton goes DOWN again! Wow. Big round for Herring here!
He stops Frampton! Wow. HUGE win for Jamel Herring!
ROUND FIVE – FRAMPTON GOES DOWN!
We have a new variable here in round five. Herring’s cut. It doesn’t look good but he’s continuing to battle.
Frampton has a better round, making it dirty in there, landing on the inside. Left to the body from the Northern Irishman but he walks onto a left hand and Frampton is DOWN!
Herring gets a breakthrough there. It’s a flash knockdown. But that shows the danger in trying to make it on the inside. He got caught coming in did Frampton.
Battle on the inside this has turned into. But that’s a big 10-8 for Frampton.
    ROUND FOUR
If Frampton is going to win this, he needs Herring to make mistakes. And at the moment, that doesn’t look like happening.
Frampton does manage to get inside in the fourth, however, as he cuts Herring which what could’ve been a big right hand.
Herring snarls back with rights of his own in a much livelier fourth round here. That looks a bad cut for the American.
Frampton definitely getting a more favourable reaction this round. But Herring again comes back with big shots of his own.
    ROUND THREE
So two rounds for Herring so far. Frampton, at some point, is going to look to come in as quickly as possible. He needs to get inside.
But he’s having real trouble doing it. Herring not making too many mistakes and he’s not falling for too many feints.
Herring really does look so much bigger in there, it’s hard to see how Frampton will hurt him, but a nice right hand lands and Herring takes a step back.
Herring’s trainer barking instructions from the corner. ‘Don’t reach in!’.
    ROUND TWO
Frampton still looking to make his way on the inside and goes down off a push, which the referee acknowledges.
Herring doing very well at keeping the action long and rangey at the minute.
The American lands a couple of nice left hands to the body but Frampton’s head movement is smart so far.
Another close-ish round here. But Frampton looked much better. Herring still takes it after landing some nice shots at mid-range.
    ROUND ONE
Both men feeling things out with their jabs in there, but Herring looks a MUCH bigger man. Absolutely huge.
Herring lands a nice right hand but lands a little low and Frampton complains. The Jackal is just trying to feel things out in there.
Frampton lands a nice right hand counter while Herring looks to establish some rhythm in there.
Cagey first round, hard to score. Could have gone either way but we’ll give it to Herring, who pressed the action more.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are among the teams that have shown interest.
However, Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez believes Haaland is a better prospect than Mbappe.
Suarez told Gerard Romero on Twitch: “Haaland is a great player, he’s at a spectacular level, he has an admirable physical strength.
“He’s one of the best number nines in the world and will define an era.
“I’m a bit more in favour of Haaland, but Mbappe is at a great level”

Grealish has been in superb form these past two seasons and has attracted interest from some of the Premier League’s highest bidders.
According to Caught Offside, however, Villa don’t want to lose their best player and are also not in need of any extra funds.
In fact, the Claret & Blue will increase their funding to match theirs as well as the attacking midfielder’s ambitions and are even confident he won’t seek a way out of Villa Park in the summer

Lineker claimed that was the “perfect responce” from the 22-year-old and urged Southgate not to cut him from the Euro 2020 squad

    HAZARD UPDATE
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is hopeful that Eden Hazard will return to action in time for the Champions League clashes with Liverpool.
Hazard has struggled to stand out at Real ever since his £88million move from Chelsea in 2019 mostly because of injury.
But Zidane is hoping that the forward will be available for the Champions League quarter-finals against the Reds.
The Real boss said: “Hopefully we can get [Federico] Valverde and Hazard back. We will see tomorrow and the day after.
“Today it was not possible but I hope that on Tuesday they can be with us”
    CAVANI REPLACEMENT
Manchester United ace Edinson Cavani doesn’t seem set to extend his season-long loan deal at Old Trafford.
Therefore, United might have to go looking for a replacement to fill in for Cavani up front next term.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Manchester giants have identified Mauro Icardi as a potential successor to the Uruguay international.
Icardi has been struggling for a place in the starting line-up this season and could be available for a fee of the region of €30- €40million (£26-£34m) in the summer
    GETTY IMAGES
    REL-EISS CLAUSE
Arsenal ace Reiss Nelson has been linked with a loan move to Olympiacos in the summer.
Nelson has been struggling for minutes this season with only two Premier League appearances to show.
Reports from Greece suggest the Gunners’ former Europa League opponents Olympiacos are interested in the young winger and have also been keeping tabs on him since the January transfer window.
The reigning Greek champions are still looking for someone to replace Daniel Podence in the wing ever since he joined Wolves last year in January
    NEW HOPE?
Borussia Dortmund’s position in the Bundesliga table may have boosted all interested parties’ chances of signing Erling Haaland in the summer.
Dortmund lost 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday at the Signal Iduna Park and have fallen down to fifth place.
Edin Terzic’s men are now seven points away from fourth place and that raises quite some doubts on their chances of advancing for next season’s Champions League.
Reports have stated that Haaland wants to be regular in the Champions League and if Dortmund fail to finish in the top four then that could work in Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea’s favour.
City and United are first and second in the Premier League table respectively and seem to be on their way back to Europe’s elite competition next season.
The Blues are fourth so far and the Reds will have to make a last-ditch effort to climb back up to the top four from seventh place.
    HAAS THAT?
Erling Haaland is perhaps the most sought-after player today and some of the world’s biggest hitters may be set for a vicious bidding war over the Borussia Dortmund superstar.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly eyeing Haaland ahead of the next transfer window.
However, Sports Illustrated recently reported that Dortmund are going to demand at least €150million (£128m) in the summer.
Very few clubs can match such a release clause following the coronavirus’ financial impact on the market.
However, Haaland has a clause in his contract that states he can leave the Bundesliga giants next year for only €75m (£64m).
Therefore, it might be sensible for all interested parties to either wait until 2022 or try to work out a discount and a swap with Dortmund, who won’t want to miss out on all that money next year
    GOING FOR THE KYL
Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation surrounding Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe is one of the hottest transfer targets ahead of the summer market and many believe he is a future Ballon d’Or winner.
According to Manchester Evening News, the French talisman is among a number of players whose contracts run out next year that United are keeping tabs on.
However, signing the striker is going to be extremely tough as PSG are exhausting all possible ways they can keep him in Paris and Real Madrid are determined to sign him in the near future.
Plus, a player like the France international is going to cost an insane amount of cash that many clubs can’t afford today due to the financial impact of the coronavirus
    HAALAND SITUATION
Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are among Europe’s big hitters, who are targeting Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland.
However, it doesn’t look too promising for any of those clubs as Haaland reportedly wants to win titles and get regular Champions League football.
That is why the star striker seems to prefer to join either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the summer.
Reminding you that a report from Esports claimed recently that the Norway international’s agent Mino Raiola told both Barca and Real owners that his client wants to sign with one of them

    NEY WAY
Neymar saw red on a miserable return to Paris Saint-Germain in their 1-0 loss to title rivals Lille.
The Brazilian was making his first start since February but received his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards.
Neymar picked up his second suspension of the season after he was red-carded for punching Marseille’s Alvaro Gonzalez in September.
The 29-year-old has now been dismissed again after he was awarded a second yellow card for shoving Tiago Djalo in the closing minutes.
Lille ace Djalo was in turn shown red for reacting with a foul-mouthed rant.

FULL TIME: LEICESTER 0 MAN CITY 2
The Foxes huffed and puffed, but nobody can stop Pep Guardiola’s side at the moment!
Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus grabbed the goals as the league leaders once again romped to victory.
This latest win takes City a mammoth 17 points clear at the top of the table, although neighbours United have two games in hand – starting with tomorrow’s clash with Brighton at Old Trafford.

    RAM BUSTER
Real Madrid’s hopes of keeping Man United target Sergio Ramos next season have been talked up – by the player’s parents.
The centre-back is out of contract in the summer with little headway made in talks over a new deal.
Jose Maria Ramos, Sergio’s father, and mother Paqui Garcia spoke to Spanish TV show El Chiringuito in the week.
Both were effusive on the 35-year-old’s chances of staying in Madrid, stating that he ‘absolutely’ is excited to sign a new deal.
Jose said: “He is not worried at all, he is calm as always.
“He is totally sure that he will continue.
“The family decides little, but there is time for everything.”
Paqui added that Ramos is looking ‘great’ before stating: “Let him stay at Real Madrid.”
Sergio Ramos is yet to agree a new contract with Real Madrid
    GUARD UP
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has claimed that he will never discuss a move for Erling Haaland out of respect for his players.
The transfer circus surrounding the striker is in full flow with his agent Mino Raiola and father Alf-Inge pictured in Barcelona this week.
The pair also held discussions with Real Madrid and are expected in England to meet with several Premier League clubs.
City are among the clubs interested but Guardiola insisted that it would be disrespectful to publically entertain speculation surrounding Haaland.
When asked about the Norwegian, he said: “You understand I’m not going to talk about any names, about other players at other clubs.
“It would not be polite for Borussia Dortmund and for Haaland. Absolutely, it’s not my business.
“I have two months with these players that we have here, they deserve as much respect from their manager to [not] talk about another player when we have two months ahead, important ones with what we have done so far.
“So, if I’m a player and the manager speaks of other players I’d say: ‘What the f*** are you doing?’.
“We are here to do what we have to do right now. I never comment, never in five years I speak about another player from another club. Never, never.”
Pep Guardiola will not publicly speak about Erling Haaland
    ERLI MOVE
Mino Raiola reckons he may have been ‘too careful’ with his decision to move Erling Haaland on to Borussia Dortmund.
The Norwegian striker joined the German giants in January 2020 from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.
A number of Europe’s elite clubs were interested in signing the 20-year-old, including Premier League big boys Manchester United.
But Raiola opted against moving the hitman on to one of Europe’s big boys in order to further his progression, a decision he somewhat regrets given how prolific he’s been since joining Dortmund.
He told The Athletic: “With Haaland, everybody was wrong. He did things much quicker than everybody imagined.
“‘Haaland is in front of his own development. He is ahead of his own schedule.
“Maybe I was too careful when I said, ‘Oh no, let’s move to Dortmund instead of I-don’t-know-where.'”
Erling Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg
    CRYSTAL CLEAR
Manchester United are close to appointing Crystal Palace recruitment specialist Jamahl Jarrett to their scouting team.
The 32-year-old is poised to become the lead scout for the South of England as the Red Devils continue their coaching and recruitment shake-up.
Jarrett has been with Palace for ten years, and is also the co-founder and director of football for Lambeth Tigers.
He set up that football club to encourage children into football and not into a life of crime and gang culture.
Kids from the Tigers have gone on to join the youth-set ups of the likes of Palace, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, Fulham, Millwall and Leicester City.
Crystal Palace recruitment specialist Jamahl Jarrett is poised to join Man Utd
    SEND ADE
Chelsea have entered the race for Juventus star Adrien Rabiot, according to reports.
The Frenchman has been a regular for Andrea Pirlo this season.
But with the Old Lady targeting a rebuild, Rabiot could be sacrificed for some fresh blood.
According to Tutto Mercato, Chelsea could set up an unlikely reunion between the 25-year-old and former Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel.
Adrien Rabiot could be on his way to Stamford Bridge this summer
    ACT VAZ
Lucas Vazquez is set to be offered a deal by both Manchester United and Chelsea, according to reports.
The Real Madrid star is out of contract at the end of the season and is rumoured to have told his current club he will not be penning an extension.
According to Spanish newspaper ABC, United, Chelsea, AC Milan and Bayern Munich are all willing to offer the 29-year-old a four-year deal worth more than he currently earns.
Madrid, meanwhile, are believed to have offered Vazquez a new three-year contract worth 10 per cent less than his existing deal.
The player, who can play anywhere down the right, is said to have rejected their advances.
Vazquez, 29, is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, according to reports
    FULL-TIME
Leeds have emerged victorious in the Yorkshire derby after beating Sheffield United 2-1 at Elland Road.
Phil Jagielka’s own goal in the 49th minute proved to be the difference in the second half and the Blades couldn’t recover.
The result lifts Leeds up into 11th spot, while United have slumped to a third consecutive defeat.
    GOODBAI
Eric Bailly is reportedly wanted by Inter Milan – if the centre-back snubs an Old Trafford contract extension.
The disgruntled Ivorian’s current deal expires at the end of next season but SunSport revealed he was panning to reject new terms.
Bailly was fuming when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer overlooked him for the second leg of the Europa League tie against AC Milan and told pals he would not put pen to paper on a 12-month extension he was due to agree last month.
And The Daily Record reports Inter are looking to take advantage of Bailly’s situation at United.
The Serie A leaders are poised to end Juventus’ decade of dominance in the Italian league as they sit five points clear of city rivals AC Milan at the top.
The report states United value Bailly at around £17million but Inter will try to negotiate the price down.

    GOING GREEK
Arsenal star Reiss Nelson is wanted on loan by Olympiacos, according to reports.
The homegrown talent was handed his Gunners debut as a teenager by Arsene Wenger, before impressing at Hoffenheim during the 2018-19 season.
But he has desperately struggled for game time under Mikel Arteta this term.
Nelson, 21, was wanted on loan by Hertha Berlin earlier this season, but believed that he should stay and fight for his place instead.
But, with further action having not been found, Football London claim that Greek giants Olympiacos want to borrow the talented winger for next season.
Nelson has made only two Premier League appearances this season, but hasn’t even made the matchday squad since November.
His last taste of first-team action in any competition came against Newcastle in the FA Cup back in January.
Reiss Nelson has featured in only two Premier League games this season
    LEYT BLOOMER
Eddie Hearn admitted he wrote off England captain Harry Kane’s chances of making it to the top of the game when he was a youngster at Leyton Orient.
The boxing promoter’s dad Barry was chairman of the League Two side for just shy of 20 years between 1995 to 2014.
And a 17-year-old Kane was sent on loan to the O’s in January 2011 by then-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp after showing promise in Spurs’ Under-18s.
Hearn told The Harry Redknapp Show: “We were watching Harry [Kane] thinking – and shows what we know about football – we were going ‘He’s decent but let’s be honest he ain’t ever going to make it at the top level.”
Harry Kane was sent on loan to Leyton Orient as a youngster
    HALF-TIME
Sheffield United have scored a dramatic equaliser to go into the break drawing 1-1 against Leeds.
Jack Harrison put the Whites in front in the 12th minute as he capped off a beautiful, free-flowing move from the hosts.
And after dominating the opening 45 minutes, they couldn’t keep their lead in the closing stages after Ben Osborn’s shot was judged to be just over the line.

    THAT’s ALL FOR TONIGHT
Liverpool are starting to look like the Liverpool of last season and they’re well in the hunt for a top four spot.
Arsenal, on the other hand, looked lazy and lacked fight.
Arteta’s men remain seven points off Liverpool and West Ham.
Still plenty of Premier League footy to come this weekend with Newcastle taking on Tottenham tomorrow, with coverage here at SunSport getting underway around 12:30PM.
    Goodnight!
    RED LETTER DAY
ALL of a sudden, Liverpool are starting to look like Liverpool again.
They pressed like Liverpool, bullied like Liverpool, dominated like Liverpool and, eventually scored like Liverpool.
Arsenal? Well they were an all-too-familiar Arsenal – timid, lazy, shoddy, hopeless.
But suddenly the door to Champions League qualification has swung open for the fallen champions.

    JOTA’s THOUGHTS
Two goal hero Diogo Jota told Sky Sports: “Very important, I said last game to think about higher spots in the table we need to do our job, to win every game until the end.
“It’s very hard to win the Premier League. Today we did our job, let’s go to the next one. [On Alexander-Arnold assist] Unreal.
“Not just him, we have very good crosses in the team. We need to take advantage.
“It doesn’t matter if you start or are on the bench, you have to make an impact. That’s what I try to do always.
“I was expecting a bit more possession from Arsenal, we pressed really well and controlled the game. Another clean sheet, everyone is working hard.
“Now we have a hard game against Real [Madrid].”

    VARDY PARTY
Leicester star Jamie Vardy poses as the hosts’ biggest threat as he is their top goalscorer – joint-seventh highest overall – in the Premier League this season with 12 goals in 25 matches.
Vardy has racked eight goals in nine league games against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, which is twice as many top-flight crackers as any other player has netted against sides managed by the Catalan.
Two of the star striker’s three Premier League hat-tricks have come against Guardiola’s City in December 2016 and in the reverse fixture at the Etihad earlier this term.
Ever since joining Leicester from Fleetwood in 2012, the 34-year-old has amassed a total of 144 goals in 341 appearances

    KUN-BYE
Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero starts today shortly after announcing that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Aguero has been phenomenal for City ever since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011 as he has scored a staggering 257 goals in 384 matches across all competitions and became the club’s all-time record goalscorer in the process.
The star striker has also won four Premier League titles, the first of which saw him scoring the critical goal against Queens Park Rangers at the Etihad on his debut season in 2012.
City manager Pep Guardiola has suggested that the Citizens may not be able to sign a replacement for the Argentina international due to the coronavirus’ financial impact on the market.
This casts major doubt over a potential deal with Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland, who appears more keen on joining Real Madrid or Barcelona

    MAN CITY FORMATION
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola appears to have opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation with six changes to the team that beat Everton away last month in the FA Cup.
Ederson returns between the sticks in the place of Zack Steffen, while Kyle Walker starts at right-back and Benjamin Mendy, who replaces Oleksandr Zinchenko, features on the other side with Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte teaming up at centre-back.
Captain Fernandinho links up with Rodri, who comes on for Bernardo Silva, while Kevin de Bruyne, who takes Ilkay Gundogan’s place, plays at No10.
Riyad Mahrez takes Phil Foden’s place and starts on the right wing with Gabriel Jesus on the other side while club legend Sergio Aguero, who replaces Raheem Sterling, leads the attack

    LEICESTER FORMATION
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has opted for what looks like a 3-4-3 formation with only one change to the team that beat Manchester United at home in the FA Cup last month.
Captain Kasper Schmeichel starts in goal with Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans and Timothy Castagne in defence.
Daniel Amartey, who replaces Caglar Soyuncu, will play at right wing-back with Marc Albrighton on the other side while Youri Tielemans and Wilfred Ndidi team up in midfield.
Ayoze Perez, Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy lead the attack.

    LEICESTER SUBS
    10 Maddison, 12 Ward, 20 Choudhury, 21 Pereira, 24 Mendy, 26 Praet, 33 Thomas, 46 Daley-Campbell, 64 Suengchitthawon
    MAN CITY SUBS
    5 Stones, 6 Ake, 7 Sterling, 8 Gundogan, 20 Silva, 21 Torres, 27 Cancelo, 33 Carson, 47 Foden
    LEICESTER XI
    1 Schmeichel; 3 Fofana, 6 Evans, 18 Amartey; 11 Albrighton, 25 Ndidi, 8 Tielemans, 27 Castagne; 17 Perez, 14 Iheanacho, 9 Vardy

    MANCHESTER CITY XI
    31 Ederson; 2 Walker, 3 Dias, 14 Laporte, 22 Mendy; 25 Fernandinho, 16 Rodri, 17 De Bruyne; 26 Mahrez, 9 Jesus, 10 Aguero

    THE TEAM SHEETS ARE IN!!!
    CITY STATS
Manchester City look to be on their way to a seventh league title in dominating fashion as they are top of the Premier League table with a whopping 14 points separating them from rivals Manchester United in second place.
City have won 22 and lost a mere three out of a total of 30 league matches this season, which means they have the most victories and least amount of defeats than any other team in the top tier.
The Citizens have also scored 64 and yielded a mere 21 goals, thus racking the highest and conceding the lowest amount in the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola’s men have won their last 14 away games in all competitions, they have also kept more clean sheets (27) and conceded fewer goals (26) in all competitions among all teams in Europe’s top five leagues
Manchester City have been dominating the Premier League
    LEICESTER STATS
Leicester have been enjoying yet another successful season under Brendan Rodgers as they are third in the Premier League table with seven points separating them from fifth place and are making a strong case for Champions League qualification.
The Foxes have won 17 and only lost seven out of a total of 29 league matches this season and have scored 53 goals, which is the third highest tally in the top tier behind Manchester City and Manchester United.
The hosts are looking to complete their first league double over City since the 1986-1987 season following September’s triumph at the Etihad.
If Rodgers’ men pick up the victory then they will become only the fourth team to complete a league double over a side managed by Pep Guardiola, after Chelsea in the 2016-2017 campaign as well as Manchester United and Wolves last term.
However, Leicester have lost 13 of their last 15 Premier League meetings against the league leaders, drawing twice along the way
Leicester have been enjoying a successful season so far
    HEAD-TO-HEAD
Leicester and Manchester City’s first ever encounter took place way back in 1895 in a Second Division match in the East Midlands where the hosts won 3-1.
Since then, the two sides have faced off a total of 121 times with City picking up a majority of 59 wins, compared to the Foxes’ 31, in the process.
Leicester won the reverse fixture in September at the Etihad with a score of 5-2, thanks to a hat-trick by Jamie Vardy and goals from James Maddison and Youri Tielemans.
But the Citizens emerged victorious from their most recent visit at King Power Stadium last year with a 1-0 victory thanks to a late winner by Gabriel Jesus

    GOOD AFTERNOON FROM LEICESTER
Welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League clash between Leicester and Manchester City at the King Power Stadium.
City and the Foxes return to action following the recent international break and are looking to seal their place at the top and top four of the table respectively.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is set to welcome James Maddison back to the fold following the midfielder’s recent bout with a hip injury he suffered in late February.
Ricardo Pereira is also in contention after healing from a hamstring problem but Harvey Barnes and James Justin are still out with a knee and cruciate ligament injury respectively.
City manager Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, is expected to have a full-strength squad available for this tricky trip to Leicester.
Guardiola hasn’t reported any fitness concerns following the international break but did admit the club is still waiting on some returning players’ coronavirus test results.
The City boss said on Friday: “There are six, seven players we haven’t seen because yesterday they weren’t able to come in for the bubble, for the test.
“So today we will have a training session and decide the team, how the players have come back from the international break”
