“My engine and his fight style? He doesn’t back down and goes to war regardless.

    FIGHT TO SURVIVE
Confirmation of Brighton’s 2-0 win over Leeds has seen them move ten points ahead of the relegation zone.
Newcastle are now the closest to Fulham in the drop zone but a big ask to claw back a nine point swing with just 15 left on offer.
    FITS THE BILL
Thomas Tuchel has made five changes to his Chelsea side for today’s clash against Fulham.
Billy Gilmour partners Mason Mount in centre midfield having only featured in the FA Cup under the new manager this season.
Ben Chilwell somewhat surprisingly starts ahead of Marcos Alonso while Kurt Zouma deputises for the injured Antonio Rudiger.
    STAT ATTACK
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 18 home games against Fulham.
The Blues have won 10 and drawn eight of the fixtures since a 0-2 second tier defeat all the way back in October 1979.

    FULHAM TEAM NEWS
And for the visitors, it’s an unchanged side from the 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
Fulham XI: Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Reid, Anguissa, Lemina, Lookman; Maja, Cavaleiro.
Subs: Ream, Hector, Onomah, Rodak, Carvalho, Bryan, Tete, Odoi, Mitrovic.

    CHELSEA TEAM NEWS
Billy Gilmour does indeed start for Chelsea today! A huge game for the Scottish starlet.
Chelsea XI: Mendy; Zouma Christensen, Thiago Silva; Reece James, Gilmour, Mount, Chilwell; Ziyech, Werner; Havertz.
Subs: Azpilicueta, Abraham, Kante, Anjorin, Jorginho, Kepa, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Marcos Alonso.

    PARKER ON TUCHEL
The Fulham boss is full of praise for his opposite number in the dug-out today.
He told Sky Sports: “He’s done a fantastic job there.
“He’s gone in and got results and sustained their results really. They’re a really good side, I think we saw that earlier in the season under Frank as well.
“They’re a good team with quality players and as a coach. Thomas has been in and around the clubs and been at the top end of competitions so you can that quality as well.”
    PARKER ON CHELSEA SPELL
The Fulham manager has been reflecting on his mixed 18-month period at Stamford Bridge as a player.
He told Sky Sports: “There is some disappointment there. At that moment, I was probably a bit young in who I was as a player and my development and as a person really.
“Going to such a huge club at that moment didn’t give me the best chances to get into that team and be a regular.
“Then on the flip side of that, there are some real positives – surrounding myself in an environment that was world class, surrounding myself with world-class players that educated me.
“I came from Charlton, and no disrespect to them, but I was there from the age of nine and going to Chelsea when I was 21 or 22, I had never experienced or seen world-class players or people in that sense.
“Like I said, that’s no disrespect and I don’t want it to sound like that, but that was something which helped me, made me grow and gave me a reference point of what it needed to look like and what I needed to do. So a mixed bag really.”

    BRDIGE THE GAP
Scott Parker has discussed returning to Stamford Bridge to face former side Chelsea as Fulham manager today.
He told Sky Sports: “When the fixtures first come out, they’re not ones that you gravitate to, but certainly when you go into the games, going there, it brings back those memories and you always look forward to that.
“You get there and see familiar faces and you’re in the surroundings you were around for a part of your life and a period of my career.”
    BILLY THE KID
Mateo Kovacic remains Chelsea’s other injury concern and Tuchel hinted this week that Billy Gilmour could return to the fold.
The Scottish midfielder, 19, has made just two appearances under the German and almost left the club on loan in January.
Here’s how Gilmour could feature for the Blues should he be given a rare chance to impress this evening…

    RUD AWAKENING
Team news is expected in less than half-an-hour but one man sure to be missing is Antonio Rudiger.
Thomas Tuchel revealed he will be without his German compatriot today after he picked up a knock in the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid.
Kurt Zouma is expected to start in Rudiger’s absence with Ben Chilwell and Cesar Azpilicueta set to be rested for the second leg against Madrid.
Here’s how the Blues could line-up this evening…

    GOOD AFTERNOON,
Chelsea host Fulham in a West London derby likely to prove crucial for both teams.
The Blues are three points ahead of West Ham as they look to maintain their grip on the final Champions League place.
Fulham meanwhile were denied a crucial win by a last minute Eddie Nketiah strike at Arsenal last week.
They now sit seven points from safety with five games left and are desperate for a result.
When the two sides last met back in January, Mason Mount scored the only goal as Chelsea ran out 1-0 winners at Craven Cottage.

Hazard-Pogba swap mooted by Raiola, Pau Torres ‘£43.4m advanced talks’, Cristiano Ronaldo transfer LATEST

MINO RAIOLA has pitched a hypothetical swap deal between Paul Pogba and Eden Hazard in an interview with the Spanish press.Meanwhile Man Utd are in advanced talks over the £43.4m signing of Villarreal’s Pau Torres, according to reports from Spain.
The centre-back impressed in the Yellow Submarine’s 2-1 win over Arsenal last night and is reportedly seen as an ideal partner for Harry Maguire.
And reports in Italy claim that United are the only club interested in Cristiano Ronaldo.
Agent Jorge Mendes has sounded out PSG, Real Madrid and the Red Devils – the only three clubs who can afford the Portugal captain.
Get all the latest Man Utd news, updates and transfer gossip here…
    PAINFUL RASH
Marcus Rashford has reportedly been playing through the pain-barrier for Manchester United and England for the last TWO YEARS.
The 23-year-old has been a key player for United this season, where he has featured in an incredible 51 games in all competitions.
And he has 33 goal contributions to his name this term for the Red Devils having scored 20 times as well as providing 13 assists.
His stellar form is even more impressive considering his long-term injury battles, with ESPN stating he has not played a game pain-free in over two years.
They claim that the striker is managing shoulder and foot problems, but is determined to keep playing as he looks to compete at the delayed Euro 2020.
And the news outlets adds that Rashford will only consider having surgery after the conclusion of the European Championships in July.

    EDIN FOR A NEW DEAL
Edinson Cavani has reportedly decided to STAY at Manchester United.
The Uruguayan was unplayable as he helped himself to two goals and THREE assists in United’s 6-2 thrashing of Roma in the Europa League semi on Thursday.
And according to ESPN, the 34-year-old has made a U-turn and ‘decided to stay at United’.
The decision will reportedly be ‘announced next week’.
Uruguayan journalist Rodrigo Romano is even reporting the forward will agree a contract extension TODAY.

And the news outlets adds that Rashford will only consider having surgery after the conclusion of the European Championships in July.
Rashford – who missed 14 games last campaign with a back injury – pulled out of the Three Lions squad in March due to his foot trouble.
It is understood that his injury will be closely monitored until now and the end of the season with Gareth Southgate sweating over his fitness.
    WIELD THE AXE
Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is reportedly wanted by Aston Villa.
The centre-back has been starved of game time after falling behind Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly in the pecking order to partner skipper Harry Maguire.
Tuanzebe spent two spells on loan at Villa Park between January 2018 and May 2019 but Football Insider suggests they are aiming to land a permanent deal for the 23-year-old this summer.
The report states Dean Smith’s side are hopeful a £7million bid could do the trick.

    ONE FOR THE FUTURE
Manchester United youngster Charlie McNeill is causing quite a stir.
The 17-year-old can’t stop scoring for the Under-18s.
He has bagged an incredible 22 goals in 23 academy games.
His latest game saw him bag a double in a 4-2 win over Leeds.

    MAG OF THE MATCH
Harry Maguire could make Manchester United history against Liverpool on Sunday.
If the Red Devils skipper completes the 90 minutes he will become the first United player to ever play 72 consecutive full games in the Premier League.
The current record is held by Gary Pallister who achieved the feat between 1993 and 1995.
Maguire has been an ever-present under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he signed for £80million from Leicester in 2019.
    HAA HAA LAND
Mino Raiola has revealed the two things Erling Haaland is looking for in a potential transfer.
Manchester United are believed to have earmarked the Norwegian hotshot as their No1 summer transfer target.
And his agent told AS: “Haaland is interested in two things: scoring goals – because he is like a Cristiano or a Zlatan, he has that positive obsession – and winning titles.
“He will choose, surely, where those two things together happen more. It is very difficult to lie.
“When a club like Barcelona or Madrid arrives, with so much history and so great, it is difficult to say no. PSG is entering this group of greats, City is trying to get there, Juve has always been there.
“The championship they play also matters. PSG plays the worst league of the greats. Bayern are already in an attractive league, but we know that they always win it. In Spain there are three with options.”

    RED HOT FORM
Manchester United have scored 17 more goals than Liverpool since Christmas.
The Red Devils have smashed home 36 goals in 20 games.
While Jurgen Klopp’s men have managed just 19 in 19 as their title defence collapsed.
The two sides do battle on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford.
    KEEP THE PEACE
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a plea for peace with up to 10,000 Manchester United fans set to march on Old Trafford in protest.
The mass gathering will take place outside the Red Devils ground ahead of Sunday’s match against rivals Liverpool which kicks-off at 4.30pm.
Extra police and security have been called in with fears the match may not go ahead if things spill over.
But Man Utd manager Solskjaer said that while the fans should be heard, he has been backed by the Glazers and any protests should remain peaceful.
Solskjaer said: “It’s important that the fans’ views are listened to and we communicate better. My job is to focus on the football side and that we have the best possible team.
“As I’ve said before I’ve been backed, I’ve had great support from the club and the owners and I’m sure I will get the backing again to go one step further. But I’m so happy all the clubs have agreed that this shouldn’t be the way of moving forward.
“Then again, when the protests are on, it’s important they go in a good fashion and that we keep it peaceful.”
    OUT OF LUC
Real Madrid have reportedly offered Lucas Vazquez a bumper new deal to ward off interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.
The winger, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season and negotiations have been slowed by the club’s financial trouble.
The coronavirus pandemic and expensive Bernabeu revamp initially led to talk of his existing £60,000-a-week contract being offered again, only with a ten per cent pay cut due to the circumstances.
However, Spanish outlet AS now report of a fresh proposal worth £84,000-a-week.
It is said Vazquez wants to stay in Madrid having come through the club’s famed La Fabrica academy to make his debut in 2015.
Since then, he has become a vital option on the right side of midfield and defence for Zinedine Zidane, playing 34 times this season.
Interest was reportedly strong from both United and Chelsea as they look to formulate a Premier League title bid next campaign.

    TONE IT DOWN
Manchester United are criticised too much, according to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
The Sky Sports pundit told the Pitch to Post Preview Podcast: “How much of a leap would it be for Man Utd to win the title next season? It would be a jump, of course it would be.
“But I actually think Man Utd get too much criticism for what they’re doing right now. Man City are phenomenal – we’re talking about a team who were on the verge of doing the quadruple and could still do a treble.
“Man Utd are ten points behind but when you see the distance that some teams in second and third have been behind (the champions in the past), ten points doesn’t sound too bad to me.
“But I don’t think they’re as far away as people speak about, really. Some of the things they’ve done this season I don’t think some of the most famous teams in Man Utd’s history have achieved, in terms of going so long away from home without defeat.”
    TEAM NEWS
Manchester United host Liverpool at 4.30pm on Sunday.
And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to have no fresh injury concerns after the thumping 6-2 Europa League demolition of Roma in midweek.
The Norwegian said: “Team news, I think everyone should be available. No fresh injury reports from the semi.”
And Jurgen Klopp is similarly just waiting on players to recover with the Anfield giants again likely to be without Nathaniel Phillips who has been missing with a hamstring injury.
    GARDEN OF EDEN
Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola jokingly suggested a Real Madrid swap deal with Eden Hazard could come to fruition.
Manchester United’s French midfielder has regularly been linked with a move to Los Blancos.
And Raiola told AS: “For Pogba, Madrid always had a great attraction … Zidane is his idol. The important thing now is to know what United want, what project United are proposing to Pogba.
“Pogba is interested in one thing, winning the Champions League and winning titles, and we are going to see where this is possible, whether at United or at other clubs.
“At one time Pogba felt a lot of love and trust from United, and there were several other clubs… But then, it is very difficult for United and Madrid to come to an agreement over a big transfer, because strong clubs do not want to sell strong players to other strong clubs.
“And I’m not going to fool him, for Pogba playing for Madrid was always a very attractive thing for Zidane too. He is his young idol.
“I don’t know. I believe nothing is impossible, but football depends on the day. And you have to be flexible and consider all possibilities.
“Suppose tomorrow Madrid want to make a Hazard-Pogba exchange? It is just an example. And if all four parties liked it, why not?”

    GOOD MORNING UTD FANS,
Paul Pogba reckons Manchester United are good enough to win the Premier League title again after closing the gap on rivals City.
The French midfielder told the BBC’s Football Focus: “We are getting closer and closer.
“We see that we were struggling a little bit, we know that, but we don’t have to look back. We have to look forward.
“What’s forward now is second [place], now we get closer to City, who were, before, to be honest way ahead of us.
“Now we show them that we can compete. We show that we are here and that we have a team to go and win the title.
“It’s just a few details. We can do it, for sure.
“Liverpool did it, City did it and now we’re there. We have to show that we can make it as well. That’s the next goal.”
Meanwhile on the transfer front, Edinson Cavani has reportedly decided to STAY at United.
And finally, United are willing to offer Donny van de Beek to Roma in a swap transfer for Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports.
The Dutchman, 24, arrived from Ajax last summer in a £39million deal but has struggled to make his mark at Old Trafford.
Van de Beek’s tally of one goal and two assists from 32 appearances in total mean United may look to cut their losses by shipping him back out this summer.
And La Repubblica via Sport Witness state they could try and do a trade with Roma for Zaniolo.
The report says the Red Devils were ‘pressing and testing the water’ and have now ‘proposed an exchange’ with the Serie A side.
    KARREN BRADY
“The refereeing itself has been poor this season, possibly the worst I have seen in the Premier League.
“No doubt there will be statistics that prove me wrong but, subjectively, I can remember no time when the whistle was so out of tune with the game.
“VAR was sold to us as a way of perfecting decisions.”

    CAN’T GO RON
Cristiano Ronaldo has become ‘nervous and irritable’ at Juventus – and has ‘given up’, according to reports.
The 36-year-old has not enjoyed the best season of his career this time around, despite still managing 25 goals in 29 Serie A outings.
And according to Gazzetta dello Sport, his entire demeanour around the club has changed.
Ronaldo has failed to reach a single Champions League semi-final during his three years in Turin, the competition he was signed to win.

    SHER MADNESS
Tim Sherwood has slammed Manchester United’s decision to sell Romelu Lukaku.
He told Premier League productions: “What [Man United] do need is a centre forward. They’re going to need someone.
“They had someone and it was the biggest mistake they’ve ever made getting rid of Romelu Lukaku, who’s on fire now at Inter Milan.”
    CROWN JULES
Real Madrid are reportedly looking to fend off competition from Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Sevilla star Jules Kounde.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move in the summer after two impressive years in Spain since joining from Bordeaux in 2019.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that United were weighing up a move for Kounde to pair him alongside Harry Maguire.
But according to AS, Madrid are looking to keep Kounde in Spain as Zinedine Zidane eyes up a summer swoop.
    GET ZAN IN
Manchester United are willing to offer Donny van de Beek to Roma in a swap transfer for Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports.

    PAUL-ING BACK
Paul Pogba reckons Manchester United are good enough to win the Premier League title again after closing the gap on rivals City.

“Liverpool did it, City did it and now we’re there. We have to show that we can make it as well. That’s the next goal.”
    ED ON BLOCK
Ed Woodward was blasted at a fans’ forum after Manchester United’s attempts to break away into a European Super League.
In a lengthy speech read to him on behalf of nine of the eleven forum members, Ian Stirling of the Manchester United Supporters Trust did not hold back.
Stirling said: “We are disgusted, embarrassed and angry at the owner’s actions in relation to the planning, formation and announcement of the European Super League.
“Once again this clearly demonstrates that the club’s owners are only interested in maximising their own profits and do not care about or respect the views of Manchester United fans.
“The complete lack of engagement with fans, our players and manager is a gross mishandling of club affairs and one which we cannot forgive.
“It was an attack on fans and on clubs across the whole of football and we have simply had enough.
“Joel Glazer’s subsequent apology is not accepted.
“Actions speak louder than words and he and his family have shown time and again that their sole motivation is personal profit at the expense of our football club.
“We should not need to explain to anyone involved in the ownership or running of Manchester United Football Club why the European Cup is an integral part of our club’s history and how this proposal has betrayed it. Yet we clearly need to.”

    KNOCKED BACK
Manchester United have had a bid for Dejan Kulusevski rejected by Juventus, it’s been claimed.
The Red Devils are still in the market for a winger following their failed pursuit of England international Jadon Sancho last summer.
Sweden international Kulusevski is said to be one of the names on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s list of targets.
And according to reports, the Red Devils have had an approach for the 21-year-old knocked back by the Old Lady.
Italian outlet Calciomercato claim Juve said ‘no’ to the Premier League big boys as they’re eager to retain Kulusevski’s services.
    ED NOT TURNED
Reports in Edinson Cavani’s homeland claim the Uruguayan is set to pen a one-year extension with Manchester United today!

    TELE ME MORE
ITV are preparing a bid to bring top flight English football back to free-to-air TV as they contemplate buying a stake in BT Sport, according to reports.
It was revealed earlier this week that BT Sport was being put up for sale.
And streaming platforms Amazon, Disney and DAZN were all touted as potential buyers for the TV network in a deal that would be worth billions.
But according to The Telegraph, ITV have now emerged as another possible buyer.
Both ITV and BT Sport have attempted to diversify in recent times, with ITV a partner in YouView and BT considering investing in ITV’s streaming service BritBox.
BT Sport is believed to be worth around £2billion.

Arsenal takeover LIVE: Kroenke MORE likely to stay after protests, Daniel Ek ‘values club at £1.8bn’ – transfer LATEST

SPOTIFY CEO Daniel Ek claims he has secured the funds to take over Arsenal from unpopular American owners the Kroenke family. But the Swede is said to only value the club at £1.8bn while a bid of £2.5bn would be the minimum needed to get Stan Kroenke talking.
And other reports suggest the protest at the Emirates have actually made the Kroenke family more determined to stay at the helm.

Martin Keown has claimed that Mikel Arteta’s tactics during the defeat to Villarreal could have got him sacked.
He wrote in his column for the Mail: “Mikel Arteta’s tactics and decision-making on Thursday should have sent Arsenal crashing out of Europe and possibly ended his managerial career at the club.
“However, remarkably and thanks to that late penalty won by Bukayo Saka, Arsenal find themselves still very much in this tie against Villarreal.
“Arteta is being afforded the rare commodity of time and now he’s the beneficiary of an even rarer occurrence: a second chance. And this is one he really has to take.
“Arteta experimented with a false nine on Thursday, lining up without a recognised centre forward.
“Playing with that new formation for the first time in the biggest game of the season was a big ask of the players and a huge gamble. It didn’t pay off.”

    DEMAND MAR
Pablo Mari has called for Arsenal to get right in the faces of Villarreal in next week’s second leg.
He told club media: “I think it’s not a really bad result thinking about that we’re 2-0 down with one player less, I think a really good reaction from the team.
“But for me I think for me we don’t have to wait to go into that situation to react. I think we have to learn about that and we have to put all the effort starting from minute zero next week to go to the final.
“I don’t know [why we made a sluggish start]. At the end you’re on the pitch and I try to help everybody, but we did some mistakes and I think this is key because they like to play football and they know when you do a mistake to go on that side and take the goals. So at the end we have to learn from that.
“We have to go full gas from minute zero and go with everything to win the game.”

Here’s who could oust KSE from Arsenal and bring the fans onside in the wake of the Super League debacle.

Arsenal icon Martin Keown has claimed that Mikel Arteta’s tactics during the 2-1 defeat to Villarreal could have got him sacked.
The Gunners were facing Europa League heartbreak after they went 2-0 down inside 30 minutes in the first leg of their semi-final this week.
And club legend Keown admitted that Arsenal’s comeback after their manager’s line-up gamble backfired may have saved the Spaniard’s job.
He wrote in his column for the Mail: “Mikel Arteta’s tactics and decision-making on Thursday should have sent Arsenal crashing out of Europe and possibly ended his managerial career at the club.

Mikel Arteta hinted Emile Smith Rowe has done enough to earn a bumper new contract at the Emirates.
The Croydon De Bruyne has broken into the first team this season and is currently contracted until 2023.
Arteta told Sky Sports: “We are going to have that discussion.
“I think Emile has earned the right to look at that situation because of the performances that he has produced.
“He’s very much engaged and wants to continue with us, that’s for sure.”

    FINE ART
Mikel Arteta called on Arsenal’s doubters to wait until he’s had a normal full season without a pandemic before judging his work in North London.
The Spanish boss told Sky Sports: “I will say there’s still a long long way to go to get to where we have to get. [The timeframe] will depend on what we do.
“We’ve shown in big moments against big teams that we can beat anybody but the reality is that we haven’t showed that consistency every three days.
“We’ve faced many challenges, some we didn’t expect, some of them completely unprecedented in the outside world and at this football club. To manage all that is pretty difficult. It’s created unsustainability and instability.
“People will judge what we do today but lots of elements are contributing. I haven’t had a normal season yet.
“Without a proper pre-season, we had some instability, and [we need] our fans back in the stadium… I cannot wait for that.”
    PUSH AND PAUL
Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes the Gunners are stuck with Stan Kroenke regardless of how serious Spotify’s Daniel Ek is about taking over.
Merse told the Daily Star: “Is Daniel Ek serious about buying Arsenal? I’m always dubious of things like this. Who would put on Twitter that they want to buy a football club? I can’t imagine if you wanted to buy JP Morgan you’d do it on social media…
“But everyone’s heard of Spotify now, haven’t they? Call me a cynic but it’s great free advertising for them. If he buys Arsenal I’ll say fair play to him. But I find it very strange. If you really wanted to take over the club you wouldn’t do it like this.
“I can’t see any way in a million years that Stan Kroenke sells anyway. Arsenal makes him money.
“It’s not like he lives here and the fans can make his life a misery and hound him out. He never goes to the games.
“He’s under no pressure to sell and I don’t see why he would. He’s not fussed about the fans. If he was, he wouldn’t have signed up for the Super League.
“I would say Arsenal are stuck with him. Will all this heat convince him to spend some money on players? Let’s see. But I doubt it.”

Mikel Arteta has pleaded for the Arsenal fans to get behind his team despite a shocking Premier League season.
The Gunners are tenth in the league and are relying on the Europa League to salvage something from their campaign.
They lost 2-1 to Villarreal in the semi-final first leg on Thursday.
Arteta told Sky Sports: “We really need them; to be with the team, to believe in the team, to support them. With them closer, we are much stronger.

Lucas Torreira reportedly faces an uncertain future with Atletico Madrid unwilling to turn his loan spell into a permanent stay.
The Arsenal midfielder has failed to make an impression at the Wanda Metropolitano after joining the Spanish side on deadline day in October.
Despite making 19 LaLiga appearances for Diego Simeone’s men, the 25-year-old has started just three top-flight games.
And according to Mundo Deportivo, Atletico are not looking to keep the player at the club.
They state that the LaLiga leaders have no intention of signing Torreira on another loan deal or a permanent move.
It has been claimed that the Gunners are willing to accept a cut-price fee of £15million for the player – £11m less than what they paid for him from Sampdoria in 2018.
A stunning first season in North London saw Torreira appear in 50 matches, but his form tailed off last year where he had to settle for a bit-part role under Mikel Arteta.
Torreira has made no secret of his desire to return to South America to play for his boyhood club Boca Juniors.
    CHANGE OF TOON
Here’s how Arsenal could line up against Newcastle on Sunday.

    SPOT ON
Here’s how the Arsenal takeover by Spotify giant Daniel Ek could look.

    STAN HIS GROUND
Arsenal’s protests about owner Stan Kroenke may have had the opposite effect – with the American reportedly more determined to hang onto the club.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein explained: “What if the protests which are at the highest they’ve ever been among the Arsenal fan base right now, added to by the presence of legends, which has built some real momentum continues to gather momentum?
“What if those issues in the USA can take even more of their focus away from Arsenal.
“Now, my hunch, from speaking to a number of people is that events of recent weeks – the protests and the Super League that never was – has actually emboldened or is likely to embolden and strengthen Kroenke’s resolve to keep hold of Arsenal.
“You wouldn’t imagine he would sell now, you might imagine he would have sold a couple of years ago when he took full ownership or he might sell in better times.
“What we’re hearing from Daniel Ek is that he’s here to stay, he’s not going anywhere despite the statement.”

    WRIGHT’S BATTLE
“I remember him having her up against that wall,” recalls an emotional Ian Wright as he relives the horror of watching his mum being throttled by his violent stepdad when he was just nine years old.
Former football hero Ian, 57, sobs as he returns to his single-room childhood home in South London for the first time in almost 50 years in a bid to heal the lasting scars which saw him and his mother suffer horrendous violence at the hands of his twisted and cruel stepfather.
Tearfully, he adds, “He grabbed my mum by the neck and she was so small. It just made me feel so helpless. She was trying to say sorry while he had his hand around her throat.
“When I was going to bed I just could not get the memory (out) of how helpless, she was.”
Fifty years on and Ian still frequently has “vivid” flashbacks to the violence that left him “anxious and scared” every day of his childhood.
But it wasn’t his stepdad’s brutality that cut the deepest – Ian’s mum abused him in turn, physically hitting him before cruelly telling him she hated him and wished she’d had him terminated.
New documentary Ian Wright: Home Truths sees married dad-of-eight Ian admit that his can’t stop getting “dragged back to some very negative and horrible feelings” which often ruins family occasions for everyone because he can’t stop worrying his now “perfect and wonderful” life is about to crumble.
    GOOD MORNING ARSENAL FANS,
Martin Keown blasted Mikel Arteta for hanging Granit Xhaka out to dry by exposing him at left-back against Villarreal.
The Gunners were 2-0 down inside 30 minutes in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final with both goals coming from the Arsenal left.
Pundit Keown fumed on BT Sport: “Keep it simple, you have to have a specialist left-back at this level. And that was always going to be a problem as it was against Everton.
“It’s the actions of a player that is not comfortable in that position and it’s the manager that has put him there.
“It’s about the decisions of the manager. It’s not Xhaka’s fault by the way. I do believe he’s the most improved player we have.
“He’s still had a difficult time but to play him at left-back leaves him exposed for me.”
Meanwhile, Freddie Ljungberg revealed the three ways Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe stood out in the Arsenal academy including ‘not trying to cheat’.
He told BT Sport: “I have been with them Saka and Smith Rowe since they were 15, I know most of their parents. They’re amazing players.
“I always thought they had it in them. They’re very different as individuals, but they’re clever boys, they listen and they have a good understanding of football. I always believed in them.
“When you do youth there’s so many players, but they were training very, very hard, not trying to cheat. They of course had talents that not many other players had.
“You see so many talents that don’t make it, [they need] that little extra drive.”
And finally, on the transfer front, Newcastle want to keep Arsenal loanee Joe Willock after his fine start to life on Tyneside.
Steve Bruce has questioned reports of a £20million fee but praised the player ahead of the clubs’ meeting this weekend.
He said: “We’d love to keep him, but that’s obviously a conversation we have to have and respect Arsenal too. He’s 21 years old, so he ticks all the boxes as far as I’m concerned.”
And Bruce added: “I don’t know where the supposed £20m price tag has come from.
“The most pressing thing is that we have to have a conversation with Arsenal, and we have to respect the fact that he’s an Arsenal player, and he’s a young player too.
“We don’t even know if he’s available yet. Until we have those conversations with Arsenal, there’s nothing really else to say. I do know that Joe’s enjoyed it here – why wouldn’t he?”
    XHAK ATTACK
Alternatively, Mikel Arteta could persist with Granit Xhaka at left back despite Martin Keown’s public criticism.

    CHANGE OF TOON
Arsenal could welcome skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and defender Hector Bellerin back to the starting line-up for Sunday’s trip to Newcastle.

    HOT ROD
Arsenal are reportedly increasing their efforts to land Real Betis star Guido Rodriguez this summer.
El Desmarque claim that the LaLiga side might be forced to cash in on the central midfielder who has a £70million release clause in his contract.
And the report adds that Arsenal are set to make every effort to sign Rodriguez at the end of the season.
    CASE FOR THE DEFENCE
Arsenal could sign both a centre-back and right back this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
He reports Hector Bellerin could leave the club in the summer and a replacement for the Spanish right-back would be needed.
And the Gunners are also said to be poised to add a central defender to the squad.
Brazilian veteran David Luiz could also leave, freeing up the former Chelsea man’s spot in Mikel Arteta’s playing strength.
    GRAB NAB
Arsenal target Nabil Fekir has boosted his Premier League admirers by confirming his Real Betis future is uncertain.
He told AS: “For now I am happy at Betis.
“We are going to do everything possible to go to Europe. It’s what I think about now.
“In football we can never know the future. We must look at season after season.
“It is always important to play in Europe. I was playing the Champions League and Europa League and I want to play there again.”
    GUNNER SPEND
Securing Champions League football next season by winning the Europa League may allow Arsenal to add to this list.

    DEMAND MAR
Pablo Mari has called for Arsenal to get right in the faces of Villarreal in next week’s second leg.

“We have to go full gas from minute zero and go with everything to win the game.”
    ART NEW LOW
SunSport’s David Seager says: “I think before I launch into some forthright opinions on last night’s debacle, I should reiterate that this is a ‘Fan’s Column’.
“As such, it is hard to be an Arsenal fan emotionally invested in the manager, because I hugely admired Mikel Arteta as a player and feel he too, feels the same attachment to our club.
“As such I have wanted him to succeed and perhaps given him more latitude personally than I gave his predecessor and opposite number last night.
“Despite all that, I was, after 60 minutes, at the point I had reached with Unai Emery, after a cold night watching a 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Sheffield United in 2019.
“Nicolas Pepe’s calm penalty and Etienne Capoue’s rashness, to equal that of Dani Ceballos, may have bought our manager a last drink at the Europa League saloon, but in truth he got so much wrong last night.”

    HEAVY TOLL
Arsenal are among the clubs interested by the news that Bayern Munich are open to selling Corentin Tolisso.
According to Kicker, the German giants will consider bids ahead of his contract expiring in 2022.

    MORE FROM LJUNGBERG
He told BT Sport: “I’m so happy, when you have a connection with the players and their families, it’s amazing. To see them succeed is a special feeling.
“I just hope the club believes in them and lets them play, make mistakes when they do and don’t drop them.
“You can’t just trust the young players, you need leadership. It is important for them to see the pathway otherwise they’ll go somewhere else where they get the chance to play.”

    PAUL-ING BACK
Paul Pogba reckons Manchester United are good enough to win the Premier League title again after closing the gap on rivals City.
    TAM TO GO
Chelsea star Tammy Abraham is reportedly involved in a three-way tussle between Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham.
ESPN claims there is confidence among the Premier League sides that a deal could be done for less than the Blues’ £40million asking price.
The report adds that Abraham is desperate to get his career back on track having fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old has started just four games since Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard at the end of January.
And the German’s reluctance to play Abraham has led to widespread speculation over his future at Chelsea.
West Ham are in the market for a new forward this summer following Sebastien Haller’s £20m switch to Ajax in January.
While a switch to Newcastle may spell the end for Joelinton who has managed just nine goals in 76 appearances on Tyneside.
Yet a return to Villa could appeal to Abraham after scored 26 goals in 40 games for Dean Smith’s side during his loan spell in the Championship.

    AD ENOUGH
Chelsea are reportedly battling Barcelona for the signing of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the summer.
The 26-year-old has played 41 times this season, but it is understood that boss Andrea Pirlo has deemed him surplus to requirements.
And with the France international having two years left to run on his contract in Turin, Juve are willing to cash in on the player.
According to Calciomercato, the Serie A giants would listen to offers in the region of £17million for Rabiot – who they signed on a free transfer in 2019.
They claim that both the Blues and the Blaugrana are eyeing up a swoop at the end of the season.
It has been stated that Barcelona are leading the race to secure Rabiot’s services with his agent and mother Veronique already making contact with the Spanish side.
Should Rabiot decide to make the move to Stamford Bridge, he would link up with former gaffer Thomas Tuchel who managed him at Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier this month, the player’s dad and agent Jorge Messi landed in Spain in preparation for the talks.
And it has been mooted that Barcelona’s ambition in the transfer market will be a big factor in securing his commitment.
According to Eurosport, Messi will even accept a hefty wage cut if the savings are funnelled into improving the squad.

Real Madrid CAN afford to splash £154million on Erling Haaland, according to his agent Mino Raiola.
Madrid president Florentino Perez had claimed no mega money signings would be possible without the cash injection from the shamed European Super League.
But Raiola told AS: “Real Madrid can afford Erling Haaland. They have money to sign him.”
Perez had previously told El Larguero: “When money does not flow from the rich clubs to the poor clubs, everyone suffers.
‘It’s impossible to make signings like Mbappe and Haaland, in general, not just for Real Madrid, without the Super League.”

    HEND IS NIGH
Jordan Henderson looks destined to miss England’s bid for Euros glory.
Jurgen Klopp has revealed Henderson is nowhere near a return to Liverpool training — and could still be weeks away.
The Three Lions kick-off their summer campaign against Croatia in 44 days’ time.
Reds boss Klopp said: “There are a lot of steps to go after that before they can take part in football training.
“They are all quite a long way from that.”
Liverpool play their last game of the season on May 23 against Crystal Palace but Henderson appears to have little or no chance of being ready for the Eagles’ visit.
That is the day before England head coach Gareth Southgate is expected to name his squad for the finals.

    GOOD MORNING FOOTBALL FANS,
Cristiano Ronaldo has become ‘nervous and irritable’ at Juventus – and has ‘given up’, according to reports.
Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic is a major doubt for the Real Madrid second leg after suffering a setback in his recovery from injury.
The Chelsea and Croatia star, 26, has missed the last five games with a hamstring problem.Tuchel said: “Unfortunately Kovacic is still injured.
“He trained with us, but he’s still not fully confident, he felt something at the end of training. So he’s not available, unfortunately.
“All the others are available except for Toni Rudiger, who got injured in the last minute of the Madrid game. Everybody else is available.
“Before training today we thought that Kova had a big chance to join us latest for Madrid, maybe even for today.
“So now we have a little setback, not a big one, with him.”I don’t want to be too negative, let’s see how he is tomorrow. For Toni, I’m quite positive for Wednesday.”
And finally, Ryan Mason staged a meeting with Tottenham’s players to tell them: Don’t call me gaffer.
The Tottenham caretaker manager, 29, stressed to the squad — with many having been former team-mates — that he wants to keep things informal.
He said: “One of the first things I said to them was that I do not expect to be called ‘gaffer’ or ‘boss’.
“Call me what you have been calling me for the last five or ten years — or however long I have known you.
“The most important thing for me is respect. You can call me what you want but if you don’t respect me then it is not good. The respect is there from everyone.
“Not just the players but the groundsman, the kitmen, everyone. I have a good relationship with everyone.”

And according to Gazzetta dello Sport, his entire demeanour around the club has changed.
Ronaldo has failed to reach a single Champions League semi-final during his three years in Turin, the competition he was signed to win.

    TRUTH OR DAR
Manchester City have completed the £5.2million signing of Argentine ‘mini Messi’ Dario Sarmiento from Estudiantes.
The Premier League leaders boast one of the best academy setups in the country, and are always keen to bolster their ranks with fresh talent from abroad.
And Sarmiento, 18, is to become the latest exciting young player to arrive this summer.
In addition to a £5.2m fee, Estudiantes will receive a 20 per cent sell on clause.
Sarmiento will officially become a City player on July 1, Estudiantes have confirmed.

    GET ZAN IN
Manchester United are willing to offer Donny van de Beek to Roma in a swap transfer for Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports.

    CHEEK OF IT
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been offered a route back at Chelsea after a glowing compliment from his manager.
Thomas Tuchel said: “I was quite a fan of him when he was younger.
“He reminded me of Michael Ballack. There were links with him moving to Germany. We are well aware of his talent.
“I don’t know why things have not worked out as he wished but now he is doing good.
“I cannot judge him from TV and hearsay. I love to work with players then to give my opinion.”
    PAUL-ING BACK
Paul Pogba reckons Manchester United are good enough to win the Premier League title again after closing the gap on rivals City.
    ALL WANT ALLAN
Steve Bruce is braced for interest in ‘special’ Allan Saint-Maximin this summer.
The Toon boss said: “I have no doubt he will attract interest because you only have to watch him once to realise he’s a really gifted, talented footballer.
“He’s one of them that will get you off your seat, and how many have got that these days?
“He scored a goal in training the other day which was just remarkable. He does that, where we all just have to stand and applaud.
“You can see when he’s playing and injury free then he’s a special, special talent which inevitably will draw interest.
“But the last thing we want to be doing is selling our best players.”

    JACK WILLS
Jack Grealish has delivered a timely boost to Aston Villa and England by returning to training.
However the 25-year-old Villa skipper will miss his 11th game on the spin against Everton this weekend as he continues his battle back from a painful shin injury.
Dean Smith revealed: “Jack showed a positive scan. He won’t be available for this weekend.
“We’re obviously a little bit tentative after the last time so he’s doing gradual loading.
“He’s working on his own at the moment. It’s a loading stress injury so we can’t rush him.”

F1 Portuguese Grand Prix qualifying LIVE RESULTS: Bottas qualifies fastest ahead of Hamilton and Verstappen

VALTTERI BOTTAS has decided he is fed up of the Portuguese Grand Prix being billed as Hamilton vs Verstappen – by claiming pole. The Mercedes ace finished 0.007sec ahead of Lewis Hamilton who will start on second in the Algarve.
Max Verstappen was third, nearly 0.4sec down on the Mercedes cars ahead of Sunday’s race.
We’ll be bringing you all of the twists and turn from Portimao right here…
    GOOD LAP FROM BOTTAS
As the wind picked up, the pace dropped off by Bottas was able to find time to move clear of the rest of the field.
    BOTTAS TAKES POLE IN PORTUGAL
After a difficult few weeks, the Finn takes P1 ahead of Hamilton. Verstappen starts in P3. Perez in P4. Sainz in fifth, Ocon will start sixth.
VERSTAPPEN STRUGGLING – HE IS IN P3
Now all focus on Hamilton vrs Bottas for pole
JUST 0.007 SECONDS BETWEEN BOTTAS AND HAMILTON
This is going to be close. Four minutes to go.
    BOTTAS TAKES PROVISIONAL POLE
Hamilton in second. Verstappen has his lap time deleted for exceeding track limits at Turn Four.
    Q3 IS GO
    Hamilton v Bottas v Verstappen.
Can Perez break in to that three-way shootout for pole?
Leclerc and Sainz both looking to continue Ferrari’s resurgence.
Vettel back in Q3 for the first time in 16 races.
SHOOT OUT FOR POLE – HAMILTON GOING FOR NUMBER 100
The Brit is eyeing up the landmark achievement. He was in a class of one in Q2.
Have Red Bull got an answer to his pace? We will find out in little under 15 minutes.
RUSSELL JUST MISSES OUT ON Q3
The Brit will line up in 11th place on the grid after just missing out on getting into the top 10.
That was so close but shows that both he, and his Williams team, are improving.
    BIG MARKER FROM HAMILTON
The world champion is 0.4 seconds quicker than the rest of the field. Bottas currently in P2.
    Over to Verstappen…
    TRAFFIC FOR HAMILTON
He’s out on track but finds himself behind a lot of cars. He’s out early again, taking no chances trying to get a banker in.
He’s on medium tyres, which should still be enough to get him into Q3.
BIG BLOW FOR RICCIARDO AND STROLL
Daniel Ricciardo is out in Q1 along with Lance Stroll.
A big disappointment for the Aussie in his McLaren while Stroll remember all the upgrades, not his teammate Vettel, who is in to Q2.
George Russell IS in to Q2 while his teammate Latif is out along with the Haas duo.
    DROP ZONE FOR Q1
Mazepin, Russell, Schumacher, Tsunoda , Latifi and Stroll are all in the bottom six.
    PEREZ SPINS OFF
The Red Bull man is in the gravel after losing control. He’s managed to escape with no damage and his time should still be good enough to get in to Q2.
    HAMILTON HAS A LAP DELETED
He was the quickest man on track but that has been expunged after the stewards deemed he had exceeded track limits at Turn One.
That’s not good news for the world champion who is fighting it out there.
    DELETED LAPS
Charles Leclerc has seen his lap time deleted for exceeding track limits. This is a big one. Remember it cost Norris a P3 last out in qualifying.
Leaving the circuit also cost Verstappen a win in Bahrain, as the stewards told him to hand the place back to Hamilton, who won.
Basically, the drivers have to keep it between the white lines. It is a simple enough rule, but not so easy to do.
    Q1 IS GO
And there are lots of drivers on track already. Unusually busy, perhaps drivers concerned about the perils of yellow flags caused by spinning cars in Q1.
Remember all 20 cars in this second, including the Haas duo.
    CONDITIONS ARE TRICKY IN PORTIMAO
Yes, it’s sunny. But this track is up and down across many elevation changes and with wind speeds of 15kmh, drivers could be caught out by gusts.
    PROBLEMS IN PORTUGAL
    Issues for Bottas, Norris, Alonso…
Plenty of work going on in the garages ahead of qualifying. Bottas has has his Mercedes gearbox off due to a sensor issue.
Norris has had an electrical fault and still in the dark over the Alpine of Alonso.
    FEELING BULLISH
Red Bull boss Christian Horner reckons it will be a tight scrap for pole position in today’s qualifying at the Portuguese Grand Prix.
Horner told Sky Sports: “It’s going to be tight.
“The wind makes it very tricky around here, particularly the back end of the lap.
“We can see the corners where we are quite strong, we can see Mercedes particularly at Turn Three and Turn Five seem to have a bit of an edge on us, so it’s going to be about threading the needle and getting it right this afternoon.”
    MAX EFFORT
Max Verstappen will be hoping he can land pole position in his Red Bull after being the speediest round the track in third practice.
He is just one point behind Lewis Hamilton at the top of the overall standings going into Sunday’s Portuguese Grand Prix.

    ON THE LEW-K OUT
Lewis Hamilton is chasing his 100th pole position in qualifying that starts in just under an hour.
But will the seven-time world champ have enough to outpace rival Max Verstappen?

    PRACTICE OVER
Here’s how it looked at the end of the third practice session out in Portugal with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen fastest.

    SNOOZE YOU LEW-S
Lewis Hamilton in action at third practice at Portimao with the Mercedes just losing out to Max Verstappen’s Red Bull for the fastest in the session.
    Credit: Reuters
    SOLID FROM FERRARI AND SCHUMACHER
The two Ferrari drivers are sixth and seventh, Norris in ninth in his McLaren.
And that was also a great performance from Schumacher, who was quicker than both Aston Martins.
THIS IS CLOSE: VERSTAPPEN LEADS HAMILTON
In final practice, it is the Red Bull man who tops the session, but only just.
Bottas in third and Perez in fourth. It is going to be Red Bull vrs Mercedes and its advantage to the team from Milton Keynes.

Crystal Palace 0-2 Man City LIVE RESULT: Aguero and Torres give City chance of title TOMORROW with quickfire double

MANCHESTER CITY will be crowned Premier League champions if Man Utd lose at home to Liverpool tomorrow.Pep Guardiola’s men blitzed Crystal Palace with two goals in two minutes at Selhurst Park.
Sergio Aguero struck first before Ferran Torres added a second as Pep Guardiola’s men look for a first ever Premier League, League Cup and Champions League treble.
    THAT’S ALL FROM SELHURST PARK
Two goals scored, zero conceded and Aguero back to doing what he does best, it was a perfect day for the Cityzens but it didn’t start off that way.
The first half was quite boring in truth. Crystal Palace had a few half chances and Man City controlled all the possession but both teams lacked quality in the final third.
Gabriel Jesus’ disallowed goal for offside was about the only exciting thing in the first 45 and even that was decided quickly.
However, I would have loved to of been a fly on the wall in Man City’s dressing room because they came out after the interval a completely different team.
They were pulling off dangerous attacks and letting shots fly, the Manchester City we are used.
Then out of nowhere, Sergio Aguero pops up with his first goal since March. It was an excellent strike by the way, vintage Aguero style.
And then 84 seconds later, Ferran Torres got in on the act when he side footed the ball past Vicente Guaita in-between the Palace sticks.
That was Manchester City’s 700th goal under Pep Guardiola.
    Incredible.
After that, the visitors took complete control of the game, leaving Palace with no chance of making a comeback.
Football is crazy because Roy Hodgson’s men were in the game for 57 minutes, and then out of it by the 59th.
Thanks for tuning in people and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    MATCH REPORT
In what looked to be a tricky test for Manchester City, turned out to be a customary win for Sky Blues.
To read up on all the juicy bits from the game, including how Aguero lit Selhurst Park up with a screamer.
CLICK HERE FOR THE MATCH REPORT
    UPCOMING FIXTURES
Crystal Palace will have the chance to immediately bounce back because next up for the Eagles is a trip to already relegated Sheffield United before a tough game at home against Aston Villa and their final London derby of the season, Arsenal.
As for Manchester City, they have the rematch against Chelsea coming up in the Premier League which could potentially be a dress rehearsal for the Champions League final if us football fans in England get our way.
It could also be the Premier League title decider should Manchester United beat Liverpool tomorrow at Old Trafford.
But before that, Pep Guardiola’s side have to navigate their way through the all-important second leg of their Champions League Semi-Final against PSG.
    CURRENT STANDINGS
So Manchester City have done their part and now it’s all eyes on Old Trafford tomorrow because if Liverpool beat Man United, the title goes back to the Etihad.
As for Crystal Palace, they miss out on the chance to go joint 12th with Wolves.

    ROY’S REVIEW
Roy Hodgson was praising what a good side Manchester City are as well discussing why Wilfried Zaha had the hump today.
When Hodgson was asked if the defeat hurt him, he started off by saying: “Well it does but unfortunately, you’re playing against a team with so much technical ability that’s the problem.
“You have got to work so very, very hard to keep them at bay and the first goal really is not because we have defended really, really badly, it’s just a fantastic pass, control and shot.
“Suddenly you’re looking at a 1-0 to Man City and you know you’re going to have to work completely harder to score a goal or two goals.
“He was complaining a little bit towards the medical staff about his groin. He thinks he might of damaged his groin a little bit.”
The Palace gaffer added: “We kept on trying to get him to commit, but he kept saying he was ok, but one couldn’t be 100% sure how ok he was.
“But on the other, what other yard stick have we got to measure by.
“I don’t think he was as tonic as I have seen him on other occasions, it could be that the groin was bothering him, but he wouldn’t entertain the fact that it was a problem so we persisted.”
    SENSATIONAL SERGIO
Sergio Aguero’s strike today puts him only five goals away from Andy Cole in 3rd on the Premier League’s all-time top goal scorers list.
However, with the Argentine set to leave City this summer, it limits his opportunities on reaching the top 3.
But with 4 games remaining, I wouldn’t rule him out just yet.

    AGUERO’S ANALYSIS
Manchester City’s all-tme top goal scorer, Sergio Aguero scored the opening goal today and he was happy to discuss it in his press conference along with winning the title and the possibility of club building a statue of himself.
Aguero said: “Finally I could play. I am so happy because sometimes I don’t play 90 minutes so the goal is good because maybe we can win the Premier League, I’ll wait tomorrow.
“Mendy always tried to pass to me but this is the only one inside the box, I need one touch, little touch and it’s my show.
“Every game is difficult but we wait until tomorrow but of course if Liverpool win, it’s better no?
“The club told me about that [a statue], I told them I don’t want nothing honestly, I prefer to wait until the end.
“I say I got three, four years to go. The only way is to play until the end and then if the club want to do something.. okay, thank you.”
    FULL TIME STATS
    Well that esculated quickly.
The visitors must of read my half time summary because they only had three shots on target.
But add 17 to that number and that gives you their overall total which is much less than they conjured up in the first 45.

    LEAPING FOR JOY
That win for Manchester City has landed them even closer to securing the a 5th title in 10 years.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
    YEP IT’S ALL OVER
ANOTHER CUSTOMARY WIN FOR MANCHESTER CITY
3 SHOTS ON TARGET, 2 GOALS
    FT: PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
90+2. Manchester City are closing in on what could possibly be a title winning victory depending on what happens tomorrow between Liverpool and Manchester United.

    3 MINUTES ADDITIONAL TIME!
    PALACE 0-2 CITY
    88. Wow, the corner fell to Gabriel Jesus at a tight angle but similar to Sterling’s effort earlier on, it went way over.
    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    87. City are really hunting the third.
Ferran Torres slipped in Aguero who drove into the penalty area before trying to beat the Palace keeper at his near-post.
But Guaita read the situation well and deflected it out for a corner.
    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    83. Sterling how have you missed?!
Another chance fell to England international and he did well to cut inside his man, working a yard of space.
But he should have done much better with the strike especially for someone of his ability.
    GIVE RACISM A RED CARD
Never forget people, there’s no room for racism and let’s put a stop to online abuse once and for all!

    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    81. Maybe Riyad Mahrez needs to give Sterling some pointers because that was dreaadful.
His effort went way over the bar, I still don’t think it’s come down.
    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    80. Free-kick to Manchester City in a dangerous position.
There’s no Mahrez or De Bruyne on the pitch to discuss who’s taking it so this is the chance for Sterling to replicate what he did earlier on in the season.
    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    73. OOOOFFF just over the bar!
Sterling played the ball into Ferran Torres who just back-heeled perfectly into the path for Cancelo teasing the full-back to hit it first time.
Which he decided to do but his effort went a little bit too high.

    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    71. Wilfried Zaha has been really quiet this game but he picked out Jeffrey Schlupp on the edge of the box.
And the attacker went for a first time shot but the effort was rather tamed and trickled into the hands of Ederson.
Roy Hodgson’s side are trying to fight back but they are finding it really difficult.
City’s two goals in 84 seconds has completely knocked the stuffing out of Palace.

    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    67. A roll of the dice from both managers.
Christian Benteke’s drought against City continues because he comes off for the man on loan from French team Mainz, Jean Phillipe Mateta.
And Fernandinho has been replaced by Oleksandr Zinchenko.
    DOUBLE TROUBLE
One man’s career is coming to an end at City, whilst the others is just getting started.
But the thing that Aguero and Torres have in common is two terrific strikes against Crystal Palace.

    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    62. MY GOODNESS OFF THE POST!
Manchester City are in the groove now, it’s all falling apart for Roy Hodgson.
Sterling struck the post after some good build up play, Man City style.
I thought they weren’t going to score this game but now I am thinking, how many will they score?

Just as I was Pep was preparing to send on the reinforcements, his side popped up with the goods as they always do.
Sergio Aguero controlled a cross from Benjamin Mendy before smashing the ball home with the outside of his boot to get his first goal at Selhurst Park.
And Ferran Torres reacted to a loose ball after some sloppy defending, before placing the ball past Vicente Guaita.
Two shots on target, two goals.
    PALACE 0-2 MAN CITY
    GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!
    WHAT AM I SEEING HERE!
IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE IT’S 2-0
    FERRAN TORESS THIS TIME!

DEREK CHISORA faces Joseph Parker in a huge heavyweight clash in Manchester this weekend. But there was chaos at the weigh-in with Del Boy saying he will REFUSE to fight if he has to ring walk first.
However, following a word from his MOTHER, Chisora has decided to go ahead with the bout.
Before the main event on Saturday night there’s a mammoth undercard featuring Katie Taylor vs Natasha Jonas, Chris Eubank Jr and Campbell Hatton.
We’ll be bringing you ALL of the thrills and spills from the Manchester Arena right here!

Fight start time: Saturday, 10pm BST
TV/ live stream: Sky Sports Box Office

Follow all of the latest updates and fight build up below…
    TALE OF THE TAPE
Here’s how the two boxers compare tonight.

    MUMMY’S BOY
Derek Chisora’s MUM has saved his fight against Joseph Parker.
The bout was thrown into doubt by a dispute over who would walk to the ring first.
Controversially a coin toss was used to decide with Chisora losing and having to go out first but luckily his mother Viola has helped smooth things over.
Chisora’s manager David Haye told Sky Sports News: “It sounds crazy. I didn’t see the fight happening with Derek walking to the ring first.
“But thankfully the voice of reason came in – Viola, Derek’s lovely mother, and she is the only person he actually listens to.
“I spoke to Viola about an hour ago and she said, ‘I told him he’s going to come to the ring first, like he promised, and that’s that. I talked to Derek, and Derek sort of agreed, yes he’s agreed that.
“The fight is 100 per cent on. Derek will be walking to the ring first as he should have done, because he lost the coin toss. We’ve got ourselves a fight.”

    WEIGH TO GO
Elsewhere in the heavyweight world, Andy Ruiz Jr showed off his incredible TWO STONE weight loss.
The Mexican is finally back in the ring against Chris Arreola for the first time since Anthony Joshua outpointed him in 2019 to reclaim his belts.
And he looked slimmer than ever at the LA weigh-in.

    WATCH WEIGH-IN
Here’s how the heavyweights weighed-in ahead of tonight’s blockbuster.

    TOO NICE?
Kiwi fighter Joseph Parker is desperate to shake off his ‘nice guy’ tag and find his nasty streak in the ring against Derek Chisora tonight.
Parker’s trainer Andy Lee, via Sky Sports, said: “Joe is a nice guy but he’s no angel.”
The first man to take Anthony Joshua the distance added: “I am too nice.
“I am nice before and after the fight. But when the bell goes he will get a different Joseph. I respect him but I want to hurt him.”

    GOOD MORNING FIGHT FANS,
Derek Chisora has threatened to pull out of his clash with Joseph Parker if he’s forced to walk to the ring first.
Del Boy is set to throw down with the former WBO heavyweight champion tomorrow night in Manchester.
But the prospect of walking first to the ring – even though his name appears first on the poster – has got Chisora thinking of packing his bags and leaving the Matchroom bubble.
During his final pre-fight interview with Sky Sports, he said: “We’re having an argument.
“They wanna do a coin flip [for] who comes in the ring first and who comes in the ring second.
“I’m was like, ‘Nah, not doing that.’
“Either I come in second or I go home right now.”
According to boxing reporter Kugan Cassius, Team Chisora are currently packing their bags to leave the bubble.
Chisora’s promoter, former WBA champ David Haye, said: “I was told by a lot of people that I trust that Derek Chisora was unmanageable.
“I was told it will all end in tears. He’s unmanageable. And so far it’s been very, very stressful.
“But I’ve always said he’s listened to 80 per cent of what I’ve asked him to do. Remember, Derek came to me and said, ‘I want you to manage me, tell me what to do and I’ll do it’.
“And he’s done 80 per cent of that up until probably, I dunno couple of months ago and since then he’s kind of doing more stuff that he wants to do on his own.
“This is like I’m saying, ‘Derek, you’ve got a contract, you’ve agreed certain things. But no.”
Yet if the fight does go ahead as planned, Chisora’s trainer Buddy McGirt has lifted the lid on his fighter’s best strategy for beating Parker.
He told the Guardian: “A lot of Derek’s fights have been real wars.
“And one guy you can never beat is Father Time. I know we can’t change Derek’s style – which is rough and rugged – but I can prepare him and look after him.
“Derek’s a real good guy but fighters never want to give up until it’s almost too late.
“I’ve seen enough adversity to know you have to be smart. I’ve told him there is only one way to win.
“He’s gotta turn it into a dogfight. It won’t be pretty but he will try his heart out. I will be there, all the time, watching out for him.”

    END OF WAR
Derek Chisora has discussed what his plans when he eventually hangs up his gloves.
He told the Independent: “When I retire I’m going to have a bonfire in my house.
“Burn all my gloves, everything I won as an amateur. A proper bonfire night and burn everything.
“Sometimes boxing doesn’t look after their own so for me to hold onto boxing as much as others do, I won’t. If I ever retire I will have a big bonfire, put it on my Instagram and delete my account after that.”
    PARTY POOPER
Eddie Hearn admitted he ‘s*** himself’ when heavyweight ace Dereck Chisora came at him.
Hearn was speaking on the panel of A League of Their Own when he recalled the hilarious story.
Cricket legend Freddie Flintoff asked him: “Has a boxer ever come at you?”
And Hearn responded: “Chisora’s come out at me a couple of times… I absolutely s*** myself.
“It was after that incident, after I had told him to calm down.”
    TALE OF THE TAPE
Here’s a reminder of how the two fighters compare…

    KICKING OFF
Derek Chisora has threatened to pull out of his clash with Joseph Parker if he’s forced to walk to the ring first.
Del Boy is set to throw down with the former WBO heavyweight champion tomorrow night in Manchester.
During his final pre-fight interview with Sky Sports, he said: “We’re having an argument.

“Either I come in second or I go home right now.”

    WILD POWER
Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will not fight each other without Deontay Wilder giving them the green light, claimed Derek Chisora.
He told DAZN: “My opinion, I keep telling everyone, you have to understand Deontay Wilder signed a three-fight deal with Tyson.
“Pandemic came, and shut everything down, AJ had his fight with Kubrat Pulev, and the whole hype thing happened with his fight with Fury.
“But don’t forget the three-fight deal with Wilder. It’s not going to happen because he has to fight with Wilder before everything else.
“So Wilder says I’ll stand aside for 80 million. The fight only happens when Tyson Fury fights Deontay Wilder.”

    DEL RAISER
Team Chisora are reportedly packing their bags and threatening to leave the bubble unless Derek gets his way and walks second tomorrow.
Del Boy has never been afraid of courting controversy inside and outside the ring.
One of boxing’s more colourful characters, he has divided opinion throughout his career.

    DEAD SERIOUS
According to his promoter David Haye, Derek Chisora is serious about leaving the bubble.
He said: I genuinely can’t see the fight happening if Dereck’s told to come in first.
“I know it makes zero sense. He just doesn’t care.”

Tomorrow night’s card promised to be a cracker with the likes of Derek Chisora, Dmitry Bivol, Katie Taylor and Chris Eubank Jr on deck.
