Brighton are mulling over a move for West Brom loan star Mbaye Diagne.
Senegal striker Diagne, 29, has impressed at the Hawthorns since arriving temporarily from Galatasaray in January, hitting three Premier League goals.
The Baggies are set for the drop but Diagne is keen to stay in England’s top flight next term.
Brighton have prioritised signing a new frontman this summer, with Neal Maupay their top-scorer this term on just eight goals.
But before any move for Diagne, Seagulls boss Graham Potter would have to be convinced the 11-cap ace could fit into his possession-based style.

Away fans will NOT be able to attend the last two rounds of Prem games – after the Old Trafford pitch invasion forced a U-turn.
Prem clubs had been keen to ensure up to 500 visiting supporters were allowed into grounds in the last week of the season, as part of maximum 10,000 crowds.
But League chiefs were concerned that the Government, and local safety officers, might block the proposals in the wake of the violent incidents that saw Manchester United’s game with Liverpool postponed on Sunday.
And now the Prem has confirmed that, while fans are set to be allowed at the games between May 18 and May 23 – one in each of the 20 top flight stadiums – seats will be strictly sold to home fans only.
Man Utd fans storming of the pitch has made the Premier League re-think their plans
    KIER WE GO
Mikel Arteta will pick his most important team of the season when Arsenal face Villarreal on Thursday.
The Gunners are 2-1 down from the first leg but managed to bag an important away goal in Spain.
But there are doubts over three key players, with Alexandre Lacazette, Kieran Tierney and David Luiz all racing to be fit.
This is how Arsenal could look for their crunch Europa League semi…
    How Arsenal could face Villarreal
    TOP OF THE COPS
Man Utd received a police escort to the airport as they flew out to Italy for their Europa League semi-final second leg against Roma.
The Red Devils were afforded the extra safety measures just days after fans stormed Old Trafford causing Sunday’s Premier League match against Liverpool to be postponed.
United face Roma in the Italian capital on Thursday with a hefty four-goal advantage following the 6-2 thrashing at Old Trafford last week.

Bruno Fernandes has denied he tried to address protesting fans before Manchester United’s game with Liverpool was called off.
Around 250 fans laid siege to the team hotel on Sunday and it was rumoured he was ready to go and address them.
But Fernandes said: “I was in my room watching football because Udinese was playing against Juventus.
“I never tried to go outside. We just did what the security said to us, keep in our rooms, stay there and that was everything the players did.
“If someone tried to come out, I don’t know. I didn’t see anyone try to come out, honestly…”
Bruno Fernandes denies attempting to talk to protestors
    PAUL OVER
Genk’s goal machine Paul Onuachu reportedly hopes to end up an Arsenal player by the end of the summer.
The 6ft 7in forward has been a revelation at the Belgian club, smashing home an incredible 32 goals in 37 games in all competitions this season.
Voetbal Belgie reports the 26-year-old is eyeing up a move to the Emirates and is optimistic he could land a dream Prem move by the end of the upcoming transfer window.
The report states he is willing and able to progress his career to the next step after lighting up the Belgian league.
Genk are believed to be willing to sell their prized asset for £25million.
Paul Onuachu could swap Genk for the Gunners
FIORENTINA KEEN TO TIE VLAHOVIC DOWN
Fiorentina are set to offer Dusan Vlahovic a new contract, according to reports.
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport are reporting the Serie A side want to extend the striker’s existing deal, which expires in two years.
It is believed Fiorentina want to build a team around the 21-year-old and aren’t interested in selling him at this moment in time.
The offer may include a release clause, ensuring the player gets a future move and the Italian side make a significant profit.
Vlahovic, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, has scored 19 Serie A goals this campaign.
    ARTETA PLAYS DOWN TAKEOVER TALKS
Mikel Arteta has played down talks of a takeover at the Emirates.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek has expressed an interest in buying the club but the Arsenal boss was only interested in discussing Thursday’s Europa League semi-final against Villarreal.
Arteta said: “We have to try to be away from all of the rumours and everything that is happening around the club.
“We have to focus on the pitch because the best way to help the football club is to win football matches and be competitive at the highest level.
“It’s a massive game for the club and if we win we will be much closer to getting a trophy. Winning always helps for the future, it is the best way to prepare for anything.”
    KORT RED-HANDED
Kortney Hause has revealed he begged police officers to let him go after being pulled over for speeding so he could meet Prince William.
The Duke of Cambridge was at the opening of Aston Villa’s new £6million training ground.
Villa defender Hause, 25, said he told the officer: “You’ve got to let me go, I’m meeting the Duke of Cambridge.”Wills replied: “I love it. I won’t ask you how fast you were going.”

    OLE BREAKS SILENCE
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken out for the first time since Sunday’s protest at Old Trafford.
Speaking at today’s press conference, the Manchester United boss said: “It was a difficult day for us. Of course, we wanted to play, to beat Liverpool for the fans.
“Our job is getting good results on the pitch.
“But as I said before the game, we have to listen, to hear the fans’ voice.
“It’s everyone’s right to protest but it has to be in a civilised manner. But unfortunately when you break in, when police officers are scarred for life, that’s a step too far.
“Then it’s a police matter, it’s not about showing your opinions anymore.”
    STICK WITH JU
Cristiano Ronaldo will not return to Manchester United this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Rumours have circulated that he will ask to leave the Bianconeri if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, a scenario which would also leave the club struggling financially.
Ronaldo hit both goals in the late comeback win over Udinese on Sunday, keeping them inside the top-four ahead of a huge showdown with AC Milan.
Sport Mediaset, via CalcioMercato, have claimed that he is intent on seeing out the final year of his Juventus contract.
The winger’s deal expires in 2022 and a huge bidding war could begin if he does signal his intention to move as a free agent.
It is also said that United are not able to afford a deal this summer.
Ronaldo earns around £540,000-a-week in Italy which is almost 50 per cent higher than the Red Devils’ current best-paid player, David De Gea.
And Juventus would likely demand a chunky transfer fee if he tried to force a move.
    SKIPPING TIME
Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp has undergone surgery to repair a metatarsal fracture.
The England Under-21 midfielder, who has been on loan at Norwich this season, picked up the injury as the Canaries sealed the Championship title with a 4-1 win against Reading on Saturday.
He will undergo a period of recovery but is expected to be fit to return to pre-season training at Spurs in July.
ICYMI – UNITED SET TO MAKE KANE BID
The Glazers are ready to sanction a £90million Manchester United bid for Harry Kane as they desperately attempt to quash fan fury.
Sunday’s protests hit home in Florida, where the controversial owners are based – and they are keen to dampen the anger.
Though there is little interest in selling up, the need to win back favour is obvious.
One option being considered is an attempt to sign the world-class striker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants.
Spurs ace Kane is top of their list and SunSport understands he would be interested in an Old Trafford move.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s stance is that if he does have to sell, it will not be to a Prem club.
But with Spurs needing to finance a summer squad rebuild, sticking to that stance may not be easy.
And United may test Levy’s resolve with a £90m bid if Kane, 27, tells the club he wants to leave.
    YOUNG DELIGHTED WITH INTER MOVE
Former Manchester United star Ashley Young has expressed his joy at winning Serie A with Inter Milan.
The 35-year-old said: “It’s obviously nice to win the Premier League and then to go to a new league and win that as well is just incredible, an unbelievable feeling.
“It’s never easy to leave a club in January, but I’m looking back now and I think I made the right decision. I always wanted to go out and win. I’ve got that ambition, drive and desire to win.
“Obviously the first season we got to the Europa League final which unfortunately we lost. We also lost the league by one point and I think that might have spurred us on for this season to go out and get ourselves a trophy and win Serie A.
“Going out there and making that decision, I think it was the best one I made.”
    TEAM GAME
Manchester United fans have bombarded their club’s new sponsor TeamViewer with negative reviews in protest.
Angry supporters left one-star ratings on website TrustPilot as they called for a boycott of the club’s sponsors.
Fans took their anti-Glazer protests online after violent clashes outside Old Trafford and pitch invasions led to Sunday’s clash against Liverpool being postponed.
Global tech company TeamViewer signed a £235m deal to be Man Utd’s new shirt sponsor from next season.
But in light of recent events at Old Trafford, their rating on TrustPilot has plummeted from four stars down to one.
    HEY BALE
Everton reportedly want to sign Gareth Bale this summer with boss Carlo Ancelotti keen to reunite with the Welshman.
Bale is on loan at Tottenham from Real Madrid but has had an indifferent season back in the Premier League with his future up in the air come the end of the campaign.
The 31-year-old speedster has been linked with a move to Goodison Park to join up with Ancelotti who brought him to the Bernabeu in 2013 and coached him for two seasons.
Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda claims the Italian boss has asked Everton chiefs for Bale as part of his summer transfer plans.
On TV show El Chiringuito, Inda said: “Ancelotti has asked for Bale, a player he always loved when they were together at Real Madrid.
“He wants to take him to Everton.”

    ITALIAN JOBS
Jose Mourinho will head to Italy to take over as Roma manager next season.
The Portuguese boss was named as new head coach of the Serie A side on Tuesday.
Below we take a look at some of the key tasks Mourinho will have to solve when he takes the helm in Italy.

    JENS AXE
Jens Lehmann has been sacked by Hertha Berlin after an apparent racist message appeared online.
The former Gunners goalkeeper sent Sky Germany pundit Dennis Aogo a message during coverage of Tuesday’s clash between Man City and PSG.
Lehmann accidentally sent a WhatsApp to the former Germany international Aogo asking “Is Dennis actually your token black guy?”
A stunned Aogo posted a screenshot of the message on his Instagram story and said: “Wow, are you serious? This message was probably not meant for me.”
Lehmann swiftly apologised on Wednesday morning but was sacked from his role on Hertha Berlin’s board.
The ex-Arsenal goalkeeper tweeted: “In a private message from my cell phone to Dennis Aogo, an impression was created for which I apologised in conversation with Dennis.”

    REF JUSTICE
Arsenal’s European destiny will be overseen by controversial referee Slavko Vincic.
The Slovenian official has been placed in charge of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Villarreal at the Emirates.
Vincic, 41, was arrested last year by cops investigating a drugs and prostitution ring in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

    FERGUSON TRAILER
The official trailer for the new movie about ex-United boss Alex Ferguson – Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In – has been released.
The movie is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video from 29 May and will be released in cinemas two days before.
    Here’s the trailer…

    REF CLAIMS
PSG players claim the referee for their clash with Man City told them to ‘f*** off’ last night.
Marco Verratti and Leandro Paredes were both allegedly on the receiving end of ref Bjorn Kuipers’ words.
Midfielder Ander Herrera told RMC: “We talk about respect with referees.
“The referee tonight said ‘f*** off’ to Leandro Paredes. It’s incredible. If we say that we get a three-four match ban.”
And the claims were backed up by fellow midfielder Verratti.
Verratti said: “He (Kuipers) said ‘f*** you’ to me. I talk to referees a lot but I never say that or I get a 10-game ban.”
    FINAL COUNTDOWN
Manchester City toasted reaching their first Champions League final ever with wild dressing room celebrations.
Pep Guardiola’s men beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 at the Etihad to secure a 4-1 aggregate semi-final win and a spot in the European showpiece against either Chelsea or Real Madrid in Istanbul on May 29.

    LOANEES COMING HOME?
Exiled Arsenal defenders William Saliba and Konstantinos Mavropanos will be returning to Arsenal next season, according to reports.
CBS are reporting that manager Mikel Arteta will give both players a chance to impress in pre-season.
The Gunners could be on the verge of losing defender David Luiz, who is out of contract in the summer.
Saliba, signed for £27million in 2019, has yet to play for the club after being loaned out to Saint-Etienne and Nice.
Mavropanos, who hasn’t featured in the Premier League under Arteta, has spent time on loan at Nurnberg and Stuttgart.
    PERFECT FAREWELL FOR SERGIO?
Although he’s unlikely to start the Champions League final, a victory against Real Madrid or Chelsea would be the perfect way for Sergio Aguero to end his Manchester City career.
Since joining the club in 2011, Aguero has won four Premier League titles (soon to be five), six League Cups and the FA Cup.
    Is he City’s greatest player?
And where will he end up next season?

    SPURS INTERESTED IN AARONS?
Max Aarons’ chances of securing a move to Tottenham may have been improved by Jose Mourinho’s departure, according to Eurosport.
The incoming Roma boss is not believed to have been a fan of the £30million-rated right back due to his height.
With Aarons standing at 5’10, it is said Mourinho wanted someone taller at the back.
Ex-Wolves star Matt Doherty, standing at over six feet tall, was signed instead but has made just 15 Premier League appearances in a largely disappointing campaign.
The jury is still out over Serge Aurier and Tottenham’s interest in Aarons will depend on the new manager’s opinion of the Ivory Coast star, reports suggest.
Roma and Everton are also believed to be interested in the Norwich player and his current side will be reluctant to sell following their promotion to the Premier League.

“We know certain things that the outside world doesn’t know.
“They can comment but sometimes without knowing all the details, which is a little bit unfair for the people.
“We make decisions that sometimes people are judging but without really knowing the detail. That criticism is part of our job.
“Auba played well and he felt much better than the days before [Sunday]. Obviously, scoring a goal is really important for him as well, so he’s in a good place.
“This game always gives you another opportunity. If you are there, then you are ready for the taking. He can turn things around really quickly so hopefully we can see that tomorrow.”

    ARTETA SAFE
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will remain their head coach next season, according to reports.
There has been a lot of speculation about his position following a disappointing Premier League campaign, but Eurosport are now reporting he will stay at the Emirates.
And it is believed owner Stan Kroenke will stay at the club and invest heavily in the team.
The concern now is attracting top players to the Gunners as they seem unlikely to qualify for European football – unless they don’t win the Europa League.
A Europa League triumph will see them qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2016.
    HATE TO LUIZ YOU
David Luiz is reportedly preparing for life after Arsenal as his representatives contact potential new clubs.
The Gunners are yet to make a decision on whether the Brazilian, 34, will be offered a new contract when his existing deal expires next month.
And his entourage are said to be working on engineering a move abroad if he is let go.
According to CBS Sports, an MLS club are among the options being considered by Luiz.
Although his wage demands are thought to be a stumbling block to a Stateside switch.
Former club Benfica and Serie A side Lazio have also been touted to move for the one-time Premier League champion.

Mikel Arteta has been given a boost ahead of tomorrow’s crucial Europa League semi-final against Villarreal as Alexandre Lacazette and Kieran Tierney both trained yesterday.

    NEWCASTLE WIN
The Gunners looked in good form on Sunday as they defeated Newcastle 2-0 at St James’ Park.
Here’s the best of the action…

    GOOD MORNING ARSENAL FANS
Spotify co-owner Daniel Ek is keen to buy Arsenal Football Club but Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE), who have come under fire following the European Super League chaos, have stated the club is not for sale under any circumstances.
However, the Mail reported that KSE were approached by an international financial consortium in 2019 and seemed keen on doing business back then.
Majority shareholder Stan Kroenke didn’t reject the approach outright, like he did with Ek, but instead told the interested party they would have to pay a fee in the region of £1.7billion.
Gunners legend Thierry Henry is one of three Invincibles who are backing the Swedish billionaire, along with Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp.
But Henry has warned fans that a potential takeover of the club will take a “long time”.
The club’s record goalscorer said: “We know what we want to do but first and foremost we need to make sure we can take over, if they are listening.
“Let’s see where it is going to go, he reached out. I don’t know now how far they went.”
In other news, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta looks set to stay after the end of the season following a turbulent campaign.
The Spaniard is also likely to receive extra transfer funds ahead of the summer transfer window.
That is because Kroenke is trying to ease tensions following some fiery demonstrations from club’s faithful, who are demanding his departure from the club.
    ANTI SOCIAL
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry hailed the “amazing” support for the social media boycott in response to online abuse in sport but warned this is just a start.
Henry told Monday Night Football yesterday: “When I saw the reaction of football that was amazing.
“Not only football, but in the last two or three days of it, it seems like everybody came to support and I was really happy about it.
“I always mention the strength of the pack because if you’re alone those companies don’t care about individuals”
    HENRY PICKS
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes former team-mates and fellow Invincibles Dennis Bergkamp as well as Patrick Vieira should join him and Alan Shearer in the Premier League Hall of Fame.
Henry told Sky Sports: “Dennis, obviously I could be biased but this guy was an example for me, always wanted to do more, first in training, last in training doing what he was always being asked to do, passionate about Arsenal, passionate about the Premier League.
“He made the team better, he made the guys around him better and I always said I don’t know how many guys would have the passion that he had.
“Always people remember Patrick, tackling someone, arguing with someone. For me, he’s the only guy that could have played alone in midfield.
“And the quality. Sometimes Patrick was doing it on purpose to lift the ball, flick it over people, just passing by them and, I mean, it was just unplayable at times – I don’t know a lot of people that could have done like that everything in midfield”
    MARTINELLI PREDICTION
Owen Hargreaves predicts Arsenal ace Gabriel Martinelli can become “one of the best players in the Premier League”, even though he has only made six starts.
Hargreaves told Premier League Productions: “I love Martinelli. I think he’s such a great player. Obviously, he has had some injury issues – but this ball [for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal vs Newcastle], with his weaker foot, it’s a dream ball, isn’t it?
“The thing I like about Martinelli for a flair player is that he puts a shift in. He works incredibly hard. I think technically he is very good. He glides by people quite effortlessly. The cool thing is that he can play through the middle, he can play off the left and he can go right.
“So, I think there is a huge talent in there and for Arsenal fans, and you think about with [Bukayo] Saka and [Emile] Smith Rowe, they have a fabulous player, who I think has the potential to become one of the best players in the Premier League. But he has to stay fit”

Rodriguez is aware of the Gunners’ interest but has previously stated he is happy in Seville with Betis.
The Argentina international told Estadio Deportivo in March: “I saw it because friends from Argentina asked me, but I told them that I knew the same as them.
“I am the protagonist because I am in the news but today, I do not know more or less than you who also saw it.
“I am very happy, I arrived and there was one or two months with a strange situation for everyone with the issue of confinement but the truth is that I am very happy in Seville, with the city, the weather, at the club. I’m very happy”
    INJURY BOOST
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has received a major injury boost ahead of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final clash against Villarreal.
Kieran Tierney and Alexandre Lacazette returned to full training ahead of the crucial second leg at the Emirates.
Tierney missed the Gunners’ last six matches due to a knee injury whereas Lacazette has been sidelined since last month’s draw with Fulham due to a hamstring problem.
Arsenal lost 2-1 at Villarreal last week and need at least one goal to make it through to the Europa League final
    TRANSFER BLOW
Incoming Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann wishes to sign Arsenal target Achraf Hakimi in the summer.
According to German journalist Manuel Bonke, RB Leipzig boss Nagelsmann is already drawing up a transfer list ahead of his imminent summer move at Bayern’s helm and Hakimi is among his top wishes.
The Inter Milan ace has impressed this season with the newly-crowned Italian champions.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta sees the right-back as a potential replacement for Hector Bellerin, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain

Harry Kane £90m EXCLUSIVE, Sancho available for £85m, Man Utd in ‘constant contact’ with Vlahovic – transfer news

MAN UTD are preparing a £90m transfer bid for England captain Harry Kane, as the Glazer family look to placate angry supporters.Meanwhile Dortmund are now reportedly willing to sell Jadon Sancho for £85m – the fee United were willing to pay for the winger last summer.
However, the Red Devils are looking to drive the price down further in talks before pushing through a move.
Another alternative up front is Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, who United are said to be in “constant contact” with.

Manchester United’s coach was given a police escort to the airport

    FROM SUNSPORT’S NEIL CUSTIS
    SOLSKJAER WARRY OF ROMA
Despite having a 6-2 lead, Solskjaer remains concerned about Roma ahead of tomorrow night’s game.
The United manager said: “We’re not going to play on the result, we’re going to play to win that game.
“That’s the only way I think we can play this game. Of course there might be one or two changes in the selection, but we have to get into the final.
“Everyone says it’s done but I’ve seen bigger upsets than this. Roma beat Barcelona in a second leg after being 4-1 down.”
    OLE PRAISES FITNESS STAFF
Solskjaer went on to praise the work of his fitness staff, with United playing more than 50 games already this season.
He said: “We’ve got a great fitness staff. It’s been a process since we came in. We brought in some young staff when I came.
“We brought in some robustness. A winning Man United team has players that can play 40, 50 games per season at a high standard.
“That is lifestyle, it’s training. It’s about when you’re not playing, to get complete match fitness.”
    OLE BREAKS SILENCE
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken out for the first time since Sunday’s protest at Old Trafford.
Speaking at today’s press conference, the United boss said: “It was a difficult day for us.
    GOOD AFTERNOON MAN UNITED FANS
It’s been a busy few days for United fans.
Sunday’s protest at Old Trafford has mounted pressure on the Glazers, with Avram refusing to apologise to fans after being confronted by a Sky journalist.
More protests are expected to be held during the coming weeks, raising doubts about United’s remaining home games against Leicester, Fulham and, of course, the rearranged game against Liverpool.
United fans have also announced their plans to boycott companies who sponsor the club.
New Sponsor TeamViewer have been bombarded with negative reviews in protest, leaving them with a one-star rating on website TrustPilot.
Fans have also shared an open letter regarding the boycott with Chevrolet, Adidas, DHL and Marriott Hotels, among others.
Despite the campaign, the Glazers are set to ignore the recent protests at Old Trafford and increase United’s value to $10bn (£7bn).
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is due to give his thoughts in a press conference today at 1pm.
Elsewhere, Jadon Sancho’s rumoured valuation of £85million is still more than United anticipated, according to reports.
But it is believed the Red Devils will still make a move this summer. The Glazers are also ready to sanction a £90million Manchester United bid for Harry Kane as they desperately attempt to quash fan fury.
And the official trailer for the new movie about ex-United boss Alex Ferguson – Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In – has been released.

    PEP’s THOUGHTS
Pep Guardiola has guided Man City to their first Champions League final and here’s what he told BT Sport: “It is definitely a huge step forward for the club.
“I am incredibly proud. My first thought is for the players who didn’t play today.
“I know for them it is so tough, they deserved to play, and everyone has made his contribution in this Champions League season.
“We have one step to the Premier League, then two or three weeks to prepare for the final.
I am incredibly proud. My first thought is for the players who didn’t play today. Pep Guardiola
    MAHREZ SPEAKS
Mahrez spoke to BT Sport after the game: “It was a very good game. We didn’t start good again.
“We didn’t have a very good first half but we scored the goal.
“In the second half, we played very good and could have scored more. They lost their nerves and started kicking us.
“After the red card, it was more comfortable for us. We were good in the counter, and that’s how the two goals were.
“It is something we work on all the time, and today it worked good. Everyone had to contribute defensively, and that’s what we did.
“We didn’t concede much, and now we’re in the final. We have a game on Saturday we have to win to be champions, and then we can concentrate on the final.”
    CITY STATEMENT

Man Utd P-P Liverpool LIVE: Rescheduled date latest as first arrest made after anti-Glazer protests – updates

MANCHESTER UNITED’S match with Liverpool on Sunday was POSTPONED on safety grounds after fans broke into Old Trafford and invaded the pitch.A new fixture date is yet to be announced with United and Liverpool set to talk to the Premier League.
United could face a points deduction or a whopping fine after the game was put back because the safety of the players could not be guaranteed.
Stay up to date with all the fall-out from Old Trafford in our live blog, below…
    MAN CHARGED
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a man has been charged following Sunday’s protest by Manchester United fans at The Lowry Hotel.
Supporters gathered outside the team’s hotel in Manchester, where the United squad was staying before the postponed derby against Liverpool, while others forced their way into Old Trafford to protest against the Glazer family, the club’s owners.
A statement from GMP read: “A man has been charged following a protest at The Lowry Hotel, Salford on Sunday 2 May 2021.
“Michael Anthony James Cusker (31/08/1992) of Winstanley Road, Manchester has been charged with throwing fireworks in a street, use of threatening behaviour and wilful obstruction of the highway.
“He has been bailed ahead of a court appearance at Manchester Magistrates Court on 25 May 2021.
“The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct to ensure complete transparency and independence in this investigation”
    GLAZER PLAN
The Glazers look set to ignore the recent protests at Old Trafford and increase Manchester United’s value to $10bn (£7bn).
According to The Guardian, the billionaire United owners are planning to increase the club’s value by $6bn despite the ongoing tensions.
The American bigwigs caused global outrage, along with 11 other elite clubs, when they tried to form the controversial European Super League – a closed tournament that wouldn’t allow fair competition.
That led to a number of United fans and former players calling for the Glazers to sell the club and leave
    SPEAKING OUT
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes top personalities like Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Paul Pogba would potentially like to address the scenes at Old Trafford.
Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five podcast: “I can feel someone like Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire or Paul Pogba will want to speak in their heart of hearts but, at the same time, it’s a tug of war, so it’s very difficult.
“This situation is slightly different as it’s more about football than just one club and the Super League was going to destabilise the whole pyramid and football in our country, so it’s a different situation and players put things out here and there.
“Sunday, I think the guys would have been sat in the hotel thinking ‘make the protest, we’re happy for you to do that, but please let us play’, that’s how the players would be thinking”
    GETTY IMAGES
    AWKWARD POSITION
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes players haven’t reacted to fan protests at Old Trafford because they want to concentrate on their football, and that puts them in an “awkward position”.
Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five podcast: “It’s a difficult one – I was there when the Glazers came and, as a player, you’re in a really awkward position as we don’t want to be a part of the business end of the club.
“We’re there just to play football, we don’t want to be caught up in the politics. All the players want to do is go to training, get ready for a match and go out in front of fans around the world and win – that’s all you’re concerned with.
“All this extra stuff, it’s stressful enough just playing and you don’t want all this extra stuff going on – I have to be honest, that’s how you thought.
“Yes, there’s a right side and a wrong side as well, but you just want to play football and be the best you can be for the club. The problem you have as a player is, if you do speak out, what then happens? Do you get sacked, fined or told to leave the club?”
    JOR DROPPED
Simon Jordan has slated Gary Neville for ‘calling on a lynch mob’ and defending the violent Old Trafford protests.
Manchester United supporters marched outside the ground on Sunday to voice their anger at the Glazer family’s ownership, eventually getting the fixture against Liverpool postponed.
Jordan, appearing on talkSPORT, hit out at the pundit for ‘egging on’ the demonstrations.
He said: “There is a building narrative, and I think some of this was brought on by certain people egging on this outlook, whether it’s the media or certain pundits who have a lot to say for themselves in a very irresponsible fashion.
“I don’t care what people like Gary Neville come out with, calling on a lynch mob and start talking about how there is an entitlement for fans to do this.
“No way is there an entitlement to attack police officers, no way is there an entitlement to break into a football pitch, climb on to goals, break into hospitality and smash up environments purely and simply because you think you’ve got a cause.”
    GLAZED OVER
Manchester United could finally be sold by the Glazer family, following furious fan protests.
But only if a prospective buyer can pay up to £4billion.
According to The Times, the Glazers would realistically demand as much as £3bn to sell up – making a tidy profit in the process.
A new owner could also then be punished for the amount of debt accrued under the Glazers’ watch – being confronted by lenders invoking a ‘change-of-control’ clause – which could add another £1bn onto the overall bill.
The Glazer siblings are reportedly ‘split’ on what to do with the club.
Joel Glazer has been the key decision-maker, playing a big part in the European Super League breakaway attempt.
Banker Jim O’Neill, 64, has been linked with a takeover in the past – and his name could come up again if the Glazers do ultimately decide to sell up.
    STANDING THEIR GROUND
Arsenal and Manchester United’s unpopular owners are no strangers to batting off angry fans to keep their place in charge, fans have been warned.
Dr Dan Plumley of the Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University has told PA Media of the Glazers and Stan Kroenke’s history of being thick-skinned.
He said: “One thing we know from history with American involvement in football clubs – and we’ve seen it at Arsenal – they do stand their ground, they are pretty stubborn.
“That is rooted in the way their sports are run. Stan Kroenke picked up the Rams and moved them [from St Louis to Los Angeles] and nobody can tell you you can’t.
“You upset a full state by moving it, but if you’re prepared to do that then you can do it – you’re the owner. That’s just not the English model and that’s been the cause of the friction over the last few weeks.”
Plumley added: “There’s a potential for this sort of protest to cause damage to the valuation of the club. The angle is to hurt the Glazers in the pocket, but it won’t do too much, to be brutally honest.”

    REPEAT PERFORMANCE
Fans could target the rescheduled clash with Liverpool to protest over the Glazer family again.
Around 200 fans entered Old Trafford just hours before the Red Devils were due to face Jurgen Klopp’s side on Sunday.
The Times claim the ‘fans who broke into Old Trafford on Sunday are planning further attacks’ as they continue to vent their fury over ‘the Glazer family’s ownership and their support for the aborted European Super League’.
They state that planning for more demonstrations is ‘under way’ already and United’s home clash with Leicester on May 12 and the rearranged Liverpool game both being potential targets.
    BOYCOTT
Manchester United are back on social media today after a weekend boycott.
The club have vowed to fight online abuse and have their own portal for fans to report problematic posts.

    DEADLINE
We are still awaiting the official word on the new date for Manchester United versus Liverpool.
Making life difficult is the fact that the Red Devils feature in every midweek in May until the season ends on the 23rd.
This Thursday is the Roma game before May 12 is the game with Leicester, moved forward due to the Foxes’ appearance in the FA Cup final.
On Wednesday May 19, Liverpool are due to face Burnley while Fulham are up fo United.
The season then ends the following weekend before the Europa League final that appears destined to feature Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
    POLICE ALLEGATION
The man allegedly punched by cops during the Manchester United protests has been left with a broken jaw, his partner claims.
The 28-year-old was arrested as 200 fans blocked the entrance to the Lowry Hotel, Manchester, on Sunday, where the team was staying.
His partner told the Manchester Evening News: “I’ve been ringing [the non-emergency police number] 101 since 6pm yesterday and they couldn’t tell me anything except he was in a police station in Pendleton.
“Then today they said he was in hospital but they couldn’t tell me why or which hospital. I got a call from him at 12.50pm and he said he was going in to be interviewed [by police].
“They’ve broken his jaw and fractured his ribs. It’s absolutely disgusting – they didn’t need to punch him the way they’ve done.”
    RATINGS
Sky Sports viewers tuned in en masse to watch the unfolding events at Old Trafford on Sunday.
According to Daily Star, 1.4 million watched the channel’s coverage of the pitch invasion as it preceded the Manchester United versus Liverpool game.
That even tops the figures some matches attain and is far higher than the typical pre-game show.
An average of around 1.9 million tune in to Sky Premier League games.

    SKY’S THE LIMIT
Gary Neville has formed a ‘pundits army’ WhatsApp group in the aftermath of the failed European Super League, according to reports.
The Manchester United legend and Sky Sports analyst played a prominent role in publicly fighting the ESL during its short-lived launch.
For the good of the game, he is stepping across broadcasting lines to unify with BT Sport pundits.
The former England star has created a WhatsApp group, featuring some of the biggest names in UK punditry.
Alongside his fellow Sky Sports stalwart Jamie Carragher, Neville has introduced the likes of Gary Lineker, Rio Ferdinand, Steve McManaman and Jake Humphrey from BT to the chat.
According to the Mail, these pundits recognise that they can play a huge part in protecting the values that fans hold dearest in the game.
    CARRA UNITY
Jamie Carragher has urged fans to stand together against hated owners such as the Glazers after Sunday’s protest.
The Liverpool hero spoke of Reds fans criticising their United rivals during the episode – and insisted that is not good for the game.
He told Sky Sports: “There will always be idiots, who get involved in things. What Manchester United fans have done. I think it’s a good thing.
“I have seen it before with Liverpool fans, at times. One clip goes everywhere and there are lots of other people doing really good things.
“I don’t want to use this for supporters, from all different clubs, scoring points from Manchester United. I don’t like to see it with my own in Liverpool.
“Liverpool fans got owners out previously. Now, you do it in different ways. I have got Liverpool fans texting me right now saying ‘we never went onto the pitch’. It’s what I said before that I don’t like it, all of this point scoring.”
    Credit: Sky Sports
    GOING NOWHERE
The Glazer family are described as intent on seeing out their ‘long-term plan’ at Manchester United despite Sunday’s protests.
A report in the Guardian outlines their mega-money ambition.
With the club currently worth just over £3billion, the Americans are said to want to grow it into a £7.2billion ($10bn) empire.
    STAFF FEAR
One ‘drunken’ fan left support staff concerned for their safety after reportedly rushing into the Manchester United dressing room on Sunday.
As the protest pitch invasion began, team doctors and kit staff more were gathered inside the ground preparing for the Liverpool game.
But they were shocked when one protestor, according to the Mail, rushed in and began shouting at them.
    GOOD MORNING MAN UTD FANS
The Manchester United Supports Trust published an open letter to United co-owner Joel Glazer yesterday.
In the letter, the trust say: “No-one wants what happened at Old Trafford Sunday to be a regular event.
“We are football fans and we want to support our team. We don’t want to spend our days off work protesting outside our football ground.
“But what happened was the culmination of sixteen years in which your family’s ownership of the club has driven us into debt and decline, and we have felt ever more sidelined and ignored.
“After sixteen years not one member of the Glazer family has ever had so much as a conversation with us, the club’s Supporters Trust. Yesterday, that frustration reached boiling point.
“For the vast majority of the thousands of attendees at the protest they made their voice heard peacefully and respectfully. We support the right of fans to protest lawfully and, although we did not personally witness any such acts, of course we do not condone any acts of violence.”
United released a statement in response to Sunday’s protests and refuted the idea supporters were allowed into the stadium by club staff.
It read: “Following events yesterday, while many fans wanted to exercise their right to protest and express their opinion peacefully, some were intent on disrupting the team’s preparation and the game itself, as evidenced by activity at the Lowry Hotel and at the stadium.
“Reports in mainstream and social media that protesters were able to access the stadium and pitch via a gate opened by club staff are completely incorrect.
“After breaking through barriers and security on the forecourt, some protestors climbed the gates at the end of the Munich tunnel, then forced access to a side door in the stand, before opening an external door that let others through to the concourse area and the pitch.
“A second breach occurred when a protestor smashed the door of a disability access lift, enabling a group to enter the stand. The majority of our fans have and will condemn criminal damage, along with any violence towards club staff, police or other fans, and these now become a police matter.
“The club has no desire to see peaceful protestors punished, but will work with the police to identify those involved in criminal activity, and will also issue its own sanctions to any season ticket holder or member identified, per the published sanctions policy.”
The most likely course of action will be that Liverpool’s trip to West Brom, scheduled for May 16, will now be brought forward by four days to May 12, when United are due to be playing Leicester.
That will allow the rescheduled clash of the north-west giants to be played at Old Trafford on Sunday, May 16.
Elsewhere, the Premier League and FA have vowed to crush the Super League plotters if they attempt another breakaway.
In a move to reassure fans the threat has been killed off for good, the FA launched an inquiry by demanding full and frank answers from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and the two Manchester giants.
And the Premier League promised it will change its rulebook to dismiss any possibility of the rebels coming back for a second attempt.
A Prem statement read: “The Premier League has prepared a series of measures to enshrine the core principles of the professional game an open pyramid, progression through sporting merit and the highest standards of sporting integrity.
“These measures are designed to stop the threat of breakaway leagues in future.”
The Big Six are facing disrepute charges for their parts in the attempted coup. FA top brass are understood to feel heavy fines are more likely, rather than punishments that would hit the fans such as points deductions.

    TA CARRA
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has defended Manchester United fans from ‘lazy’ criticism over Sunday’s Old Trafford protest.
The majority of pundits appeared to lend their backing to the angry group of protestors as the game was eventually postponed. But ex-Red Graeme Souness wasn’t too positive, saying: “I think (the anger) is out of United not being top dogs as much as what happened (with the ESL) last week.”
However, fellow Sky Sports pundit Carragher has dismissed Souness’ comments as ‘lazy’, claiming United fans had every right to be angry and protest. He responded on Monday Night Football: “I really want to get this message across. This is not the European Super League for me.
“The supporters who really felt this more and marched on stadiums (after Super League) are Manchester United and Arsenal – that’s because they had a huge problem with their owners before this.
“I’ve listened to a lot this morning and I watched other things. I’ve got no problem with people having a different point of view or a different opinion from me, because it’s nuanced what happened yesterday. But get the facts. Please. When you are going to talk about this, know what’s going on.
“So let’s not accuse Manchester United fans of just throwing the toys out the pram because they’re not competing with [Manchester] City or in the Champions League, whatever it may be. That is absolute nonsense.”

G NEV WANTS FOOTBALL TO SUPPORT PROTEST
Gary Neville believes all football fans should support the United protesters.
Speaking yesterday, the former United defender said: “Look, I’ve never thought they were brilliant owners but I have seen in football that there are worse owners than the Glazer family.
“However, I think all football fans should unite today behind what Manchester United fans have done because honestly, what they [the owners] did two weeks ago was really dangerous for English football, we must not forget that.
“They tried to create a famine two weeks ago in English football, in Dutch football, in German football, in French football, all over Europe.
“Those 15 clubs would have walked away from their leagues with their money and basically destroyed the ethos of the pyramid of relegation and promotion in English football, so that’s number one.”
    CROSSED THE LINE – EXCLUSIVE
By Sarah Ridley and Daniel Hammond
A protester who ran across the Old Trafford pitch with a Manchester United corner flag was later filmed sniffing a suspicious white powder off it.
In scenes that will do nothing for his cause, he was shown outside the ground emptying the substance on the bottom of the pole. After appearing to snort it, he holds up the flag — bearing the club’s crest — and shouts “United” while laughing into the camera.
The video was shared on Snapchat with a laughing emoji and a caption reading: “Striped off the flag.”
Sunday’s demo saw 1,000 fans gather outside the stadium to protest at the club owners, the US-based Glazer family, in the wake of the failed European Super League proposals.
Around 100 stormed the pitch. Others massed at the hotel where United players were staying. The match against Liverpool was postponed. Police said six officers were hurt, including one who suffered a fractured eye socket and another whose face was slashed.

    SHEARER SLAMS PROTESTERS
Alan Shearer has criticised the protesters at Old Trafford yesterday.
Discussing the events on Match of the Day, the former Newcastle striker said: “I understand the fans’ frustration and their anger.
“Totally acceptable because of what has gone on in the last 10 days or two weeks with the European Super League.
“Football was nearly taken away from us as we known and as we have known it forever. I’m all for protesting but not like that, you can’t protest like that.
“We’ve seen other fans protesting at other football clubs because they’re not happy but when you get fans breaking into stadiums, hurting police officers, smashing glass to get into hospitality, that’s not the way to do it, it’s not acceptable.”
    MAYOR STATEMENT
Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, has released a statement regarding yesterday’s protest at Old Trafford.
The statement reads: “I fully understand the long-standing concerns of Manchester United supporters about both the ownership and financing of their club and the wider running of football.
“These concerns have been building for a long time and it is essential that those running the club and the game listen to them.
“It is important to make clear that the majority of supporters made their protest peacefully today.
“However, there is no excuse for the actions of a minority who injured police officers and endangered the safety of others.
“I send my best wishes to the police officers who have been hurt in the course of their duties this afternoon.”
    UNDER ATTACK
The copper slashed in the face with a bottle during the chaos at a protest by Manchester United fans is ‘incredibly lucky’ to have not lost sight in his eye, Greater Manchester Police Federation said.
The police constable, with around 20 years service under his belt, suffered a ‘significant’ slash wound to his face during Sunday’s demonstration at Old Trafford.
The unidentified officer remains unnamed by the Federation – which represents the force’s rank-and-file – but they did confirm he is in “lots of pain” and will need a considerable period off work to recover.
The largely peaceful protest spilled into incidences of violence, with Greater Manchester Police confirming two officers were injured – explaining one had been ‘attacked with a bottle and sustaining a significant slash wound to his face, requiring emergency hospital treatment’.
The violence was condemned by GMP and the club as ‘reckless and dangerous’ as some football fans took the demonstration too far.
Stu Berry, Chairman of the Federation, said: “Our brave colleague went to work yesterday to keep the people of Greater Manchester safe – and he ended up coming under attack. He is incredibly lucky not to have lost the sight in an eye. This is not right.”

FANS PUBLISH OPEN LETTER TO JOEL GLAZER
The Manchester United Supports Trust have published an open letter to United co-owner Joel Glazer.
In the letter, the trust say: “No-one wants what happened at Old Trafford yesterday to be a regular event.

    MEETING EK
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry opened up about the day he as well as fellow Invincibles Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp spoke to Spotify co-owner Daniel Ek.
Ek wants to buy the club from Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) and also wishes to re-inject the old identity by involving the fans.
Henry told Sky Sports: “We listened to him.
“When we knew first and foremost that he wanted to involve the fans, we actually met the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust and told them what we wanted to do; bring them back on board.
“He already said he collected the funds so he can make sure he can make a good bid. Now obviously they need to listen and see what they can do.
“Something that is very important about it, saying they want the owner out, we are trying to offer a solution of having the fans as the DNA back of the club”
    NOT FOR SALE?
As everyone knows, Spotify co-founder, and longtime Arsenal fan, Daniel Ek wishes to buy Arsenal Football Club for an estimated £1.8bn – the successful businessman has the support of legendary Invincibles, such as Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.
However, Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE) have stated the club is not for sale.
But the Mail on Sunday report that KSE were approached by an international financial consortium in 2019.
Majority shareholder Stan Kroenke didn’t reject the approach outright, like he did with Ek, but instead told the interested party they would have to pay a fee in the region of £1.7billion
    DON’T HERRY
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has warned fans that a potential takeover of the club by Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek will take a “long time”.
A great chunk of the Gunners fanbase has turned on majority holder Stan Kroenke following the failed European Super League project and Ek, a longtime fan, has expressed his desire to buy the club.
Henry said: “That is going to take a long time.
“We know what we want to do but first and foremost we need to make sure we can take over, if they are listening.
“Let’s see where it is going to go, he reached out. I don’t know now how far they went”

    STATE OF THE ART
Former Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has warned his friend and manager of his former club Mikel Arteta to keep an eye on Villarreal star Gerard Moreno on Thursday’s Europa League semi-final clash.
The Gunners lost 2-1 away in the first leg and need at least one goal to qualify to the final, which they have to win if they want to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
But Cazorla has urged former team-mate Arteta to be careful of the “best forward in Spain”.
He told uefa.com: “He is the best forward in Spain right now. I’m not saying that just because of the goals he scores.
“You shouldn’t just look at what he does in the box and the goals he scores for Villarreal, but also what he does outside the box.
“He’s a player who makes a difference, doesn’t need a lot of chances to score goals, and he’s at a point of his career where he’s full of confidence and at his peak, which is ideal in terms of the team being able to achieve its objectives.
“He’s a chilled-out guy, he works hard and he brings a lot to the dressing room as well”
    SHEAR CLASS
Alan Shearer has told BBC’S MOTD Top 10 Podcast that Tony Adams was one of the toughest defenders he ever faced.
In listing his favourite Premier League centre-backs, the former striker recalled the rough battles he faced against the Arsenal legend.
Shearer said: I would come off with cut eyes, a broken nose and cut lip after a game against him, but always shake hands.
“He was the best centre-half I’ve played against I think, in that era in terms of how aggressive you could be as a centre-half.
“He played in that back four that was unbelievable and had a great goalkeeper behind him. He was an unbelievable leader, organiser, tackler, he could play as well, he was tough. The best centre-half I’ve ever played against.”
    HARG TO ARGUE
Owen Hargreaves reckons Mohamed Elneny offers something different to Arsenal’s other defensive midfielders.
The Egyptian popped up with a goal in the 2-0 win at Newcastle, leaving the former anchor man impressed.
He said: “Elneny makes up all that ground and gets into position. It’s a good finish.
“I like Elneny. I think he gives them something different. He’s more rugged. But I think this Arsenal team need that.
“And if he can pop up with goals then it’s the icing on the cake.”
    WIL-LOCKED IN
Mikel Arteta has confirmed Joe Willock will return to Arsenal in the summer to fight for a place in the team.
A successful loan spell at Newcastle for the midfielder has led to the coach considering him for a pre-season runout.
He said: “[Willock] has a chance.
“He is a player we really like so at the end of the season he will come back here and then we will make the decision again for what is best to move forward.
“We knew all this but he needed game time, he needed to expose himself away from our environment and we believe as well that Newcastle, Steve and his staff is the right place for him to do that.”

    UN-AI ON THE ARSENAL GAME
Unai Emery had the luxury of making several changes for Villarreal’s weekend win over Getafe.
Gerard Moreno, Raul Albiol and Juan Foyth were among the stars rested ahead of Thursday’s Europa League return leg in London.
And the coach said afterwards: “You have to try to be fresher, to have a clear idea of what we should do.
“We go with an advantage, we will have moments that can change things and it’s not going to be easy.
“The team is very alive and with excitement to live it. The key is to live in that process.”

    MAV-ERICK
Sven Mislintat is set to return to Arsenal to attempt a deal for Konstantinos Mavrapanos.
The defender is on loan at the sporting director’s club, Stuttgart, but the deal does not contain a purchase clause.
According to Kicker, the Greece international is wanted for a longer stay and the Gunners’ stance is more and more open to the prospect.
    TOP THIER
Thierry Henry hailed the ‘amazing’ support for the social media boycott in response to online abuse in sport – but warned it is just a start.
The Arsenal icon also revealed he is yet to reactivate his accounts after switching off to kickstart the conversation around regulating abuse.
SunSport joined Premier League clubs and a number of broadcasters and other sporting institutions in a Twitter blackout over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Appearing on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Henry said: “When I saw the reaction of football that was amazing.
“Not only football, but in the last two or three days of it, it seems like everybody came to support and I was really happy about it.
“I always mention the strength of the pack because if you’re alone those companies don’t care about individuals.”

    TOUR GUID
Arsenal have been told to pay £43million for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
The LaLiga club’s delicate finances have led to a reduction in the 27-year-old’s asking price – down from his £70m release clause.
The Gunners are said by Seville-based newspaper Estadio Deportivo to be leading the interest in the anchor man.
    KWIK-E-MART
Michael Owen believes Gabriel Martinelli is exactly the sort of player Mikel Arteta will build his team around.
The Brazilian impressed the ex-striker against Newcastle and was praised for his direct approach.
Owen told Premier League Productions: “They’ve got a lot of good young players at Arsenal.
“I like these players that actually find half a yard and cross it early. As a centre-forward, that’s exactly what you want.
“I hate players that go to cross, cut back, then cut back again and you don’t know when to run. But you see, first-time crosses, the defence can’t get set, the goalkeeper can’t get set properly.
“[Martinelli] has played centrally so he knows that’s what you prefer as a centre-forward.
“I think Mikel Arteta is going to start building his team now around some of these young players.”
    FIGHT ISN’T OVER
Arsenal are among the stalwarts of English football back on social media today.
And, following the weekend blackout, the club have unveiled a new community-led initiative to keep up the fight against online hate.

    HUTT NOT HOT
Alan Hutton does not believe Ainsley Maitland-Niles is good enough for a summer switch to Leeds.
The former defender spoke to Football Insider on the Arsenal man’s rumoured move to Elland Road.
He said: “It’s obviously been difficult. He’s left Arsenal for West Brom because he had the opportunity to play in the midfield.
“He’s done well but whether he’s going to come in and take Leeds to the next level, I don’t know.  He’s still young, he’s still developing. He’s a good prospect to have in your squad.
“Whether he’ll come in and start to be the guy to take you to the next level, I’m not so sure.”
    GENERAL LEE
Derby defender Lee Buchanan has caught the eye of Arsenal, according to reports.
The Mail detail the Gunners’ interest in the left-back amid their hunt for an understudy to Kieran Tierney.
The 20-year-old has featured 34 times in the league for the Rams this season.
    HEN-OUR ROLL
Thierry Henry chose Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira as his fellow Invincibles for the Premier League Hall of Fame.
As one of the first inductees into the honour roll, the ex-striker chose his takeover pals to join him during a Sky Sports discussion.
The Frenchman said of Bergkamp: ”Bergkamp always wanted to do more, first in training, last in training, doing what the game was asking him to do.
“The passion he had for Arsenal and for the Premier League.
“He made the team better, the guys around him better. At one point he came back and did all of pre-season without a contract, working hard, playing all the friendlies.
On Vieira, Henry noted: “He is the only guy who could play alone in midfield, play 4-1-5 if you want. I knew when Patrick was scanning and I was already coming off my defender because he was getting the ball.”

    TAKEOVER TALK
Daniel Ek’s bid to buy Arsenal is gathering pace and has the approval of the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust.
They state: “The AST welcomed a recent approach from Daniel Ek and his consortium partners Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira, and that they said meeting us was a priority for them.
“A constructive meeting was held and we were encouraged to hear their commitment to making the role of fans central to their proposals. This is very welcome and we look forward to further dialogue.
“We will engage with anyone who has a serious proposal as it is important any current or future owner is aware of the importance of working with fans. We also continue to seek a constructive and meaningful dialogue with Stan and Josh Kroenke.
“Our message to all of them is simple: Football needs to change. Arsenal needs to change
“The major change that must take place is for fans to be given a greater role in the ownership and governance of the club.”
    DON’T LUIZ HOPE
Arsenal are reportedly hopeful that David Luiz will play again this season.
Having spent much time on the sidelines this season, the veteran returned against Newcastle on Sunday.
But he was forced off with a hamstring injury, creating fears that the out-of-contract defender will not play again for the club.
According to the Mail, the Gunners are confident he will return before the season’s end.

    KAM AND GET IT
Former Arsenal youth star Glen Kamara is on the club’s radar for a summer switch.
According to Football Insider, the Rangers star will be offered a five-year contract at Emirates Stadium if a deal can be done.
Kamara has two years left on his contract with the Scottish champions, who are keen to tie him down further.
    GOOD MORNING ARSENAL FANS
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek will reportedly submit a formal bid in the region of £1.8billion to Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke by the end of the week.
The Swedish billionaire is poised to test the American’s resolve by turning his interest into a concrete offer.
Ek, 38, is so desperate to take control of his beloved side, he has teamed up with Invincibles Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp.
Speaking to CNBC last week, Ek – valued at more than £3bn – insisted he has the funds to assume control of Arsenal. That came after the Kroenke family issued a statement where they declared they will not entertain any offers.
But it has been claimed that Arsenal ARE up for sale, with Kroenke willing to do business for the right price. And according to the Telegraph, Ek will submit an offer by the end of the week after attempting to make contact with Kroenke over the weekend.
Sky Sports have stated that Ek will bid £1.8bn, and even if the offer is rejected, his interest will not go away.
Henry also confirmed he is part of Ek’s bid last last night.
When asked if he was part of the potential takeover team, Henry – speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football – said: “It is true.
“Daniel [Ek] is an Arsenal fan. He did not say it for any publicity, he has been an Arsenal fan for a very long time. He approached us, we listened to him. And we knew, first and foremost, that he wanted to involve the fans.”

ARSENAL FIND ‘ALLY’ IN RODRIGUEZ PURSUIT
Arsenal have reportedly found an ally in their pursuit of Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
Mikel Arteta is believed to be interested in the 27-year-old as he looks to boost his defensive midfield options.
Rodriguez has impressed for Betis since joining from Mexican side America last summer, making 41 appearances.
And Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo are reporting that River Plate – Rodrgiuez’s first club – are monitoring the situation.
Should the player make a rumoured £43.5million switch to the Emirates, the Argentine side may receive a chuck of the fee due to ‘training rights’.
    ARTETA DOESN’T FEAR SACK
Although some may think he’s not far away from being sacked, Mikel Arteta isn’t concerned.
When asked about losing his job – before Sunday’s game against Newcastle – the Gunners boss said: “Well, I don’t want to think that way.
“I want to think that we are going to be in that [Europa League] final and then we are going to have really positive consequences after that.”
    ARTETA TO BE SACKED?
Tony Cascarino believes Arsenal and Tottenham are a ‘mess’.
The former Aston Villa and Chelsea striker also thinks Mikel Arteta will be sacked if the Gunners start next season poorly.
Speaking to TalkSport yesterday, Cascarino said: “I was just thinking about how much of a mess these two clubs have got themselves into and it stems from ownership. That has played a massive part.
“The clubs are in a mess. Both have built new stadiums, state of the art. The Emirates was brilliant when it was built. Compete with the very best in Europe and Tottenham have done likewise.
“The problem is they’re a mess on the field. Things are going to be changing at those two clubs. Arteta has got a massive challenge in reinventing Arsenal.
“He will get this summer to do that but 10 games into next year, if things are not very different, he won’t survive.”

    GLAZER PLAN
The Glazers look set to ignore recent protests at Old Trafford and increase Manchester United’s market value to $10bn (£7bn).
According to The Guardian, the billionaire United owners are planning to raise the club’s value by $6bn despite ongoing tensions.
The American bigwigs caused global outrage, along with 11 other elite club owners, when they tried to form the controversial European Super League – a closed format that wouldn’t allow fair competition.
That led to a number of United supporters, former players and pundits calling for the Glazers to sell the club and leave

Tuchel also shared some injury news and confirmed Mateo Kovacic is sidelined whereas Antonio Rudiger will play with a mask
“We feel it, they did it during the first leg.
“We felt we can be stronger, now we have rested players, three days rest, the challenge is to keep the intensity going through the whole match.
“It is a semi-final, the pressure is on, a knockout game, so to arrive with a level of belief and confidence is necessary, or we will have no chance.
“Kovacic not in the squad, Toni will play with a mask. Everybody else trained”
    MAR FROM OVER
Neymar’s father has successfully negotiated a new five-year deal for his son at Paris Saint-Germain but the star forward wants to wait for Barcelona’s offer.
According to Sport, the Brazil international is expecting a lucrative proposal from Barca’s returning president Joan Laporta, which is why he has yet to put pen to paper on the deal his dad and PSG shook hands on.
The 29-year-old was keen to return to the Nou Camp in the summer of 2019 and seems to still be up for it.
The Brazilian enjoyed a brilliant four-year stint in Catalonia as he recorded 105 goals in 186 appearances and formed a deadly attacking trio with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi

Now he should have no troubles lining up for Los Blancos in the crunch Champions League semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

Real Madrid applied for an exemption for the defender, who also has Spanish citizenship, but the request was denied.

    WELL INTER YOU
Inter Milan are planning to bolster their squad having won the Scudetto.
Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri of Chelsea are both said to be on interest in their hunt for a new left-back, with a goalkeeper and striker such as Edin Dzeko also wanted.

    MAD TIMES
Real Madrid will reportedly sign Erling Haaland NEXT summer.
The Borussia Dortmund striker has become the most talked about transfer story since Lionel Messi demanded Barcelona sell him last year.
Manchester United and City, Chelsea and Barcelona are all believed to have the 20-year-old at the top of their transfer wishlist.
But according to AS, it is Real Madrid who have won the race for the free-scoring sensation.
The Spanish newspaper reports that the club’s plan is to ‘bring Erling Haaland to the new Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2022, with the initial focus on ensuring Kylian Mbappe comes in first’.

    ERIC’D OFF
Eric Dier insists he is not as dire as some claim he is and believes any mistake he makes is unfairly jumped upon by his critics.
He said: “I think they’ve seen it in periods. I feel like… I’ve got mixed emotions towards it really.
“At times, I feel like it’s a bit unfair and a bit… I’m trying to think of the right words… but sometimes I’ve made a mistake or something has led to a goal and one mistake is talked about like it’s four or five. I’ve felt that at times.
“As defenders, you’re always going to make mistakes at times and the most important thing is how you react to them. I think fans have seen what I can do in glimpses, especially at the beginning of the season.
“I think I had a very good first six months and it dropped a little bit for a few games. But I feel like I’ve been back to a good place for a couple of months now.”
IT’S THE HOPE THAT KYLS YOU
Manchester City face Paris Saint-Germain in that huge Champions League semi-final second leg tonight.
The build-up to the 8pm kick-off has focused on Kylian Mbappe’s fitness doubts.

But the former Oasis frontman may prove better disposed to the so-called ’17 year old Neymar’ who will be joining Manchester City at the end of the year.
The Premier League leaders have completed a deal for the Brazilian wonderkid, 17, in what is seen as a major coup by Pep Guardiola’s side – said to be for a fee of £9million

    SARRI TO SEE YOU LEAVE
Maurizio Sarri is nearing a managerial return – and a bumper payday.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus will have to pay £2.1million to the coach at the end of this month to enact a break clause in his contract.
That is because the Italian, sacked last summer, had an automatic renewal in his deal worth £6m.
And Roma are reportedly in the final stages of signing him up for next season.
A two-year, £7m contract is being negotiated for Sarri to replace Paulo Fonseca – whose departure has just been confirmed.

And the striker revealed the techniques he has been undertaking to develop his technique.
Lukaku told La Tribune: “I have improved thanks to a machine that sends me balls at 30-40kph.
“Before I always arrived a moment late, now I beat the defender by two seconds.I play a bit like Shaquille O’Neal.
“I had a mental epiphany at 27-28 years old: now or never. You can score 500 goals in a career, but if you don’t win a title it’s useless.”
    TONE IT UP
Ivan Toney will attract huge interest from the Premier League if Brentford fail to win promotion this year.
Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins have both left West London to enjoy success in the top-flight.
And the play-off club could have to field offers from Leicester, Everton and more if they cannot reach the summit this summer, according to The Athletic.
    SANCH SWOOP
Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United in the chase for Jadon Sancho.
The chase for the England winger is beginning to hot up since Borussia Dortmund admitted they have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to sell him this summer.
Manchester United have held a long-term interest in the 21-year-old star with Liverpool also keen.
According to Bild in Germany, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is plotting a raid on his old Bundesliga club to swoop for the attacker, who they claim could be available for £78m.
It has already been reported that Dortmund may drop their valuation of Sancho to around £85m – having previously demanded £108m.

    WOJ AND A HARD PLACE
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly rejected the chance to sign Wojciech Szczesny.
Reports in Italy suggest the Polish goalkeeper is available if Juventus can sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan when his contract expires in the summer.
But German club Dortmund turned down the chance due to the high costs involved.
    LEW BEAUTY
Robert Lewandowski could look to leave Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports.
The Pole’s current contract in Germany runs until 2023.
But his agent Pini Zahavi is reportedly looking to secure a pay rise for his prolific client.
Bayern do not want to entertain any offers for their star striker.
According to Bild, however, Zahavi will prepare a ‘summer push’ to drum up interest in Lewandowski – who would cost over £50million.
The desired destination would be the Premier League, with clubs in England most able to offer Bayern’s No9 a considerable pay rise.

    BALE BE BACK?
Tottenham’s next manager will be given the chance to keep Gareth Bale for the 2020-21 season, according to reports.
Bale, 31, arrived back at White Hart Lane on a season-long loan under Jose Mourinho last summer.
It was expected he would return to Real Madrid at the end of the campaign where his deal has one year left.
But according to the Daily Mail, Spurs have first refusal on agreeing another loan switch this summer.

    GOOD MORNING FOOTY FANS
It was a busy day yesterday as West Ham kept their Champions League dream alive with a 2-1 win at Burnley.
West Brom’s survival hopes also took a huge knock as they could only draw 1-1 at home with Wolves.
At Arsenal Spotify CEO Daniel Ek will reportedly submit a formal bid in the region of £1.8billion to Gunners owner Stan Kroenke by the end of the week.
The Swedish billionaire is poised to test the American’s resolve by turning his interest into a concrete offer.
Ek, 38, is so desperate to take control of his beloved side, he has teamed up with Invincibles Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp.
At Man Utd, the Manchester United Supports Trust published an open letter to United co-owner Joel Glazer yesterday.
Yesterday, that frustration reached boiling point.”
United also released a statement rejecting reports suggesting Sunday’s protesters were allowed into the stadium by club staff.
    BREAKAWAY BAN
The Premier League and FA have vowed to crush the Super League plotters if they attempt another breakaway.

    FULL-TIME!
    Burnley 1 – 2 West Ham
West Ham’s Champions League dream is still alive!
Chris Wood gave the Clarets the lead with a penalty but a Michail Antonio brace completed the comeback before half-time.
The Hammers had about 7.5million chances in the second-half but could not make it a more comfortable finish against a woeful Burnley.
The Hammers up to fifth and Sean Dyche’s side stay 16th but nine points clear of the relegation zone.

THEY THOUGHT IT WAS PAUL OVER
Paul Gascoigne last night revealed he cheated death when a helicopter door burst open — and he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
The former Newcastle, Spurs, Lazio and England star, 53, was being flown from a hospital visit back to an island for the Italian version of I’m A Celebrity.
He said: “I’m scared of flying at the best of times and always say a little prayer before take off. But I was chatting to the pilot as we were taking off so I must have forgotten my seat belt.
“We are over the sea when he pulls to the right and the door flies open and I lurch towards it. I’ve never been so frightened. My career and family flashed in front of my eyes — but I managed to hold on and slide the door closed.
“I told the pilot what happened and we just exchanged glances as if to say, ‘F* hell, that was close’. I thought if I fell out into the sea I might survive the drop but I was scared there might be sharks.
“I could see the headlines. Fat bloke who was good at football falls out of a helicopter and is eaten by a shark.”

    RED LIGHT – EXCLUSIVE
Manchester United and Liverpool stars are frantically ramping up security following yesterday’s incident at Old Trafford.
Players at the Premier League giants had already been reviewing safety arrangements due to concerns about some fans’ reaction to the European Super League proposals.
But Sun Online understands those plans have now escalated with one security expert – who specialises in protecting football players – urging stars to take extra precautions.
Paul Davies, who runs Manchester-based firm Benchmark Security, said: “I’d strongly recommend players use live monitoring of their homes with CCTV and also consider putting in place security with K9 dog units.”
On the scale of the risk now posed to players another source said: “There is a real anger from a small minority of fanatical fans who follow the big six clubs and the fear is this has put players at increased risk.
“Many players are worried about being targeted to and from training as well as on matchdays. As a result many are now stepping up security in and around their homes to protect them – and their families. There is also a huge amount of venom being spewed on social media towards some.”

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLL – ANTONIO!
    Burnley 1 – 2 West Ham
    29. What a turnaround!
Said Benrahma whips in an almost un-defendable in-swinging cross from the left-hand side.
And Antonio ghosts in to glance it past Pope with his right foot from six yards out.
The Hammers’ Champions League hopes are still alive!
    GOOOOOAAAAL – ANTONIO!
    Burnley 1 – 1 West Ham
    21. Well that didn’t last long.
    Fantastic response from West Ham.
Ball played out to Coufal wide on the right, he teases a ball in at the back post and Antonio bullies Lowton to reach the ball first and power a header home from close range.
    GOOOOOAAAAL – WOOD!
    Burnley 1 – 0 West Ham
    19. Soucek brings down Wood in the box after some sloppy defending from Diop and Anthony Taylor points to the spot.
The New Zealander gets up and slams it in the bottom left corner.
    WILLY WORRY
Wolves star Willy Boly has been ordered to rest after being struck by heart palpitations as a result of long covid.
Defender Boly contracted coronavirus at the start of last month, but though he has recovered from the initial infection the long term damage has caused problems.
The 30-year-old missed the Black Country derby draw with Wolves and boss Nuno Espirito Santos said: “He’s not in a good place. He is in a tough moment.
“He had the infection and now he is not able to train, his heart rate increases very, very fast. So we have to look.
“His energy is not there, he feels tired, the heart rate increases very fast, and he’s not able to sustain the level of training that we want. He is doing exams, analysis to see if there is another issue – I hope not.
“But it’s a study case that everybody has to realise after COVID, how the players – it’s not the first week, the first day but over a longer period of time, which effects did Covid-19 have on Boly. Many other players must be aware of this.”
