    FANDEMONIUM
Manchester United fans have been getting into the party spirit in Gdansk ahead of tonight’s Europa League final.
The Red Devils will be backed by 2,000 travelling supporters from England tonight, as they face Villarreal in the Baltic city.
And as fans starved of European travel have arrived in the city, they’ve been quick to revel in the adventure and have a good time.
A great number have been seen enjoying Gdansk’s bars.
And no shortage of pints have been consumed in the city centre.

    IN THE FOXHOLE
Leicester have reportedly agreed a deal for French title winner Boubakary Soumare – as they face the prospect of losing midfield star Youri Tielemans.
Belgium international Tielemans won the FA Cup for Brendan Rodgers’ side with a world-class finish in their 1-0 final win over Chelsea.
The 24-year-old has been voted the Foxes’ player of the season and SunSport recently revealed he is set for talks over a new contract.
But reports in Belgium claim Liverpool have targeted former Anderlecht and Monaco ace Tielemans to replace Gini Wijnaldum.
The Holland midfielder, 30, is leaving Anfield on a free transfer this summer with Barcelona a possible destination.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also credited with an interest in signing £50million-rated Tielemans.
Leicester have now secured an ideal replacement if the Belgian quits the King Power Stadium – by tying up a £20m deal for French ace Soumare.
    KAN DO ATTITUDE
Chelsea’s Champions League hopes have received a massive boost after key-men N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy returned to duty today.
The Blues pair both took part in training on day one of the build-up to Saturday’s clash with Manchester City.
Inspirational midfielder Kante has been struggling with a hamstring problem to the extent he missed Sunday’s Premier League finale at Aston Villa.
In the same game keeper Mendy was forced off at half-time after crashing into the goalpost making a save and injuring his ribs.
The stopper had to undergo scans in the wake of the incident and for a time boss Thomas Tuchel was sweating on his No1’s fitness.
But news that both have been passed fit for training at least is a massive plus for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
SunSports understands they took part in full training with the rest of the group and then did a session on their own.
Chelsea fly to Portugal tomorrow ahead of this weekend’s final and Tuchel may now have a full squad to choose from.

    RUDDY GOOD
Rio Ferdinand has named his Premier League’s four best defenders… including Antonio Rudiger.
The Chelsea ace almost departed in the summer under Frank Lampard after being frozen out of the first team.
But he was thrust back into the starting XI following Thomas Tuchel’s appointment in January and has gone from strength to strength.
Rudiger, 28, has been part of a Chelsea defence that kept a hugely impressive 19 league clean sheets.
Speaking about his top four Premier League defenders of the season, he said: “I think [Antonio] Rudiger, since he’s been playing, has probably been [the] second or third best centre-half after [Ruben] Dias and maybe [John] Stones, [Harry] Maguire.”
    ‘RUBBISH REPORTING’
Gareth Bale’s agent has rubbished reports in Spain that the Welsh star was hoping to retire after Euro 2020.
The forward is preparing to lead his nation at the next month’s showpiece after building up his fitness at Tottenham on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.
Bale, 31, scored 11 goals in just ten Premier League starts at Spurs but was hardly used by Jose Mourinho before the Portuguese boss was axed in April.
He still has a year remaining on his mega £600,000-a-week Madrid contract but Los Blancos are desperate to get him off the wage bill.
Spanish outlet ABC have claimed today that Bale is preparing to quit football at the end of Euro 2020.
It stated the ex-Southampton ace wanted to hang up his boots and attempt to forge a career as a pro golfer.
However, his agent Jonathan Barnett shot those rumours out of the water when asked about them by talkSPORT.
He said: “Sorry, I don’t speak about rubbish reporting.”

    TAP DANCE
Arsenal are reportedly in negotiations to prise highly-rated centre-back and Manchester United target Edmond Tapsoba away from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
The 22-year-old has been earning rave reviews in the Bundesliga since joining the German side from from Portuguese outfit Vitoria in January 2020.
Man Utd have also been linked with a move for the Burkina Faso international having scouted him this season.
And according to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, Arsenal have joined the race to sign the defender.
He has claimed that the player is at the top of Mikel Arteta’s wishlist as he looks to bolster his backline.

    HOMEWARD BOUND
Lionel Messi has jetted home to Argentina with his family after being given permission to miss Barcelona’s last league match amid continuing uncertainty over his future.
The footballer was due to reach Buenos Aires this morning with wife Antonela Roccuzzo and children Thiago, eight, Mateo, Ciro, five, and Mateo, three.
Bodyguard Pepe Costa accompanied them as they boarded their plane on Tuesday night at Barcelona’s El Prat airport.
They made a beeline for the airport terminal without stopping after being dropped off in a chauffeur-driven 4×4 despite shouts from waiting photographers anxious to get them to pose for a last family pic on Spanish soil.
The 33-year-old is due to meet up with the Argentina national squad for two World Cup qualifiers with Chile and Colombia on June 3 and 8.
Then they begin their quest for glory at the Copa America tournament.

    RU THE DAY
Wolves are willing to sell midfielder and Manchester United transfer target Ruben Neves for around £35million this summer, according to reports.
The Portuguese international looks likely to be one of the names sacrificed as the club plot a mini overhaul.
According to the Athletic, Wolves are being forced to sell their assets if they want to spend big.
Neves, 24, is one of the names up for grabs with reported interest from Man Utd.
He moved to the Molineux in 2017 with the club in the Championship and helped earn promotion in his first campaign.
Neves has since played a key role in Wolves’ time in the Premier League including qualifying for Europe.

    EDEN HOME
Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are the leading contenders to sign Real Madrid star Eden Hazard.
That’s according to bookmakers Betfair, who’ve installed the European heavyweights as favourites to clinch his signature this summer.
Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in June 2019 in a mega-money deal worth upwards of £130million.
However, things haven’t exactly gone to plan with injuries limiting the 30-year-old to just 34 appearances in all competitions.
The Belgian international managed 10 starts as Real Madrid ended the season without a single trophy and losing their La Liga crown to rivals Atletico Madrid.
The attacker also received scorn from supporters for laughing and joking with his former Chelsea colleagues after his old side had dumped them out of the Champions League.
As a result, reports claim Real will look to offload Hazard in order to finance a major rebuild at the Bernabeu.

    MAN UTD EUROPEAN FINALS XI
Manchester United take on Villarreal in the Europa League final on Wednesday night aiming to win their second title in the second tier of European football.
Luke Shaw will incredibly play in his first-ever cup final after missing the 2017 Europa League final win over Ajax through injury.
But he will almost certainly start for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the 2020-21 squad aim to write their names in the record books.
Ahead of the game, we’ve taken a look at the Man Utd’s best XI based on cup finals.

    ED OF THE GAME
Southampton are reportedly plotting a swap deal to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard with Mohammed Elyounoussi heading the other way.
The Hoops’ French striker has scored 83 goals in 168 appearances and attracted plenty of interest from south of the border and abroad.
Both Arsenal and Leicester City have both been linked with a swoop for the 23-year-old.
As Sun Sport exclusively revealed earlier this month, Southampton have now joined the race to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain star.
Now a fresh report from Football Fan Cast has stated the Saints ‘can offer Celtic something which other Premier League clubs can’t’ in Elyounoussi.
Edouard is valued at around £13.5m with Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl previously suggesting he would target players under the £10m price bracket.

    AOU ABOUT THAT
Arsenal have been given a major boost in their quest to sign Houssem Aouar with the Lyon midfielder reportedly available for £25million.
The Gunners were heavily linked with a move to sign the 22-year-old last summer, but were priced out of a deal to bring the Frenchman to the Emirates.
It was claimed that the playmaker agreed to link up with the North Londoners who failed to stump up the £54m needed to secure his services.
According to L’Equipe, Aouar’s price tag this summer is over half of what Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas was previously demanding.
They state that an offer between £22m-£25m could be enough to prise the player away from the Groupama Stadium.
That is because Lyon failed to qualify for the Champions League after William Saliba – on loan at Nice from the Gunners – scored the winner in Sunday’s 3-2 victory.
And Arsenal could reignite their interest in Aouar with boss Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu known to be huge admirers of him.

    NO WAY, JOSE
Eden Hazard is reportedly being eyed up by Jose Mourinho who is looking to make him his first Roma signing.
The 30-year-old is one of a number of players that has been put up for sale by Real Madrid following another underwhelming season in Spain.
And it has even been claimed that the Belgium international is looking to leave LaLiga in the summer having failed to prove his worth.
A move back to Chelsea is believed to be his priority, but Leggo via Mundo Deportivo have stated that Mourinho is lining up an audacious swoop for the winger.
The Italian news outlet has declared that the Special One is plotting a reunion with Hazard having managed him at Stamford Bridge for two years.
Mourinho is likely to be given funds by the Giallorossi when he takes charge next season in his first year back in Italy since 2010.
A £43million offer could be enough to tempt Los Blancos into accepting with Hazard failing to live up to his £130m price tag.

    BACK ON TORR?
Fernando Torres has dropped a major hint that he is considering a sensational return to football.
The former Chelsea and Liverpool striker hung up his boots in August 2019 after a stint with Japanese side Sagan Tosu.
El Nino would then take up a coaching role with Atletico’s B team of last year before becoming their manager in January – a position he has temporarily stepped away from due to personal reasons.
Away from football, the 37-year-old went viral last year after piling on the muscle in a dramatic body transformation.
Now Torres could be putting his new-found figure to good use back on the football pitch judging by his latest social media post.
Posting an image of the iconic No9 shirt, he wrote the caption: “I only understand life in one way – playing. That’s why I’ve decided to return.”
Fans will need to wait for more information with Torres adding: “This Friday I will communicate where.”

    EUR IN TROUBLE
UEFA have opened the way to ban Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus from the Champions League after beginning formal disciplinary charges against the rebel trio.
Euro chiefs are determined to bring the three Super League ringleaders to heel after the collapse of their breakaway plan.
Unlike the Prem Big Six, the two Milan sides and Atletico Madrid, the three clubs have refused to pull the plug on their scheme.
That has infuriated Uefa President Aleksander Ceferin.
He is out for revenge and wants to impose two season bans.
And now that prospect had moved a step closer after Uefa announced its first move.
In a statement, Nyon officials said: “Following an investigation conducted by UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Juventus FC for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework.
“Further information will be made available in due course.”

    CONT TO GO
Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is reportedly set to depart the San Siro within the next 48 hours following a huge row with the club’s president Steven Zhang.
The 51-year-old’s possible shock departure comes after he guided the Nerazzurri to their first Serie A title since 2010 after finishing 12 points clear.
The ex-Chelsea gaffer hinted earlier this month he is unsure of what the future holds, despite having a year left on his contract.
Inter are known to be in serious financial trouble, with La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming their Chinese owners Suning and Zhang are demanding the club to raise money.
It has been stated that as well as Inter needing to cut the wage bill by 20 per cent, they need to raise a whopping £86.5million in player sales.
Former Juve manager Conte – who has recently been involved in a training ground boxing bout with Romelu Lukaku – is said to have been furious after being informed of the decision.
He is claimed to have expressed bitterness towards Inter’s new direction in the meeting and is now seeking to quit the club.

    DRIVES YOU MADD
Brendan Rodgers claims James Maddison’s injury-plagued season cost him his place in England’s Euro’s squad.
The Leicester boss said: “James has been unfortunate the way the season has panned out.
“He didn’t start the season and it was difficult for him but then he got a run of games and was exceptional.
“He was creating and scoring goals. It was looking very good for him. Then, he’s picked up the injury and he hasn’t got back to the level of fitness he needs.”
“When you are a very gifted technical player – as he is – you have to be able to move to be able to get on the ball.
“Then, when you have the ball, you need the fitness to produce at such a high technical level. That’s something, unfortunately, that’s just not quite been there.”

    CALL TO ARMS
Chelsea are considering flogging winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to reports.
The German giants are eyeing a replacement for Jadon Sancho if the England winger heads to Manchester United.
Hudson-Odoi, 20, has been limited to just 10 Premier League starts this season having failed to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans.
The England international was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich a year ago.
But Chelsea convinced him to commit his future to Stamford Bridge having penned a £120,000-a-week contract until 2024.
However, Hudson-Odoi has failed to fulfill his potential and Tuchel would be open to letting him leave either permanently or on loan if he can land a replacement.
According to Eurosport, Dortmund are ready to make their move if United pursue Sancho.

    RENNES FOR THE HILLS
Arsenal target Eduardo Camavinga has handed in a transfer request but the teenage sensation has his heart set on Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.
The Rennes midfielder, 18, is one of Europe’s hottest properties following yet another brilliant season.
PSG are one of the clubs monitoring his situation closely and believe he is the future in their midfield.
And it appears his head has been turned after telling Rennes he won’t be signing a new contract.
Camavinga has just a year left on his current deal meaning the club will be forced to flog him this summer or lose him for nothing.
According to RMC Sport, Rennes are prepared to play hardball having slapped a £100million price-tag on their star man.
With the current financial crisis in football due to the coronavirus pandemic, Rennes risk pricing out Europe’s biggest clubs for his signature.
The report adds how club owner Francois Pinault is hoping to spark a bidding war with Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid also all interested.

    MORNING FOOTBALL FANS
Gareth Southgate announced his provisional 33-man England squad yesterday, with four uncapped players getting the nod.
Ben Godfrey, Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone all made the cut, although there were some tricky omissions for Southgate to make.
Hopefuls Patrick Bamford, Danny Ings, James Maddison and Eric Dier all missed out, with the Three Lions boss admitting that it was ‘difficult’ not to pick the latter.
He said: “He is a man who I have tremendous respect for and he has been, as you’ve rightly identified, a key player in some of our biggest nights, some of our biggest moments.
“Unfortunately I just don’t think his season has been strong enough to be in the squad.”
There was room for some exciting young talent, however, with Mason Greenwood, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden among a number of players that could be heading to their first tournament.
Southgate, 50, is expected to announce his 26-man squad for the finals next week.
In club football news, Harry Maguire looks likely to miss out on featuring in the Europa League final for Manchester United this evening.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to rule his skipper out of contention when quizzed, but Maguire didn’t take part in training last night with his team-mates.
He HAS, however, been included in Southgate’s squad.
Meanwhile, Uefa have begun the process that could eventually lead to Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus being banned from European competitions, after their involvements in the failed European Super League breakaway.
    WAGS WARNED
    By Duncan Wright
England’s Wags and families will be banned from seeing the England players in the team hotel for the duration of the Euros.
Gareth Southgate has revealed Uefa protocols around Covid-19 make it impossible for his stars to catch up with loved ones at St George’s Park.
He said: “We’re not going to be able to let people in.
“There’s a clear edict from Uefa on what the bubbles need to look like to be as secure as we can make them.
“It’s never going to be 100 per cent failsafe but we’ve got to comply with as much as we can.
“We’re hoping that we might at some point be able to let the players have a little bit of time at home.
“But that’s constantly being assessed. It’d be a preference for us if we can.
“But of course, we’ve got to monitor not only our own situations, but where we are as a country, what are the variants, what the government guidelines are.
“That’s we hope to do that and we’re working towards that, but it is going to be limited access which we have to accept is going to be harder for some players to cope with than for others.
“You know everybody’s going to react to that and respond to that differently.”

    ICYMI – THIRTY THREE LIONS
Gareth Southgate named his provisional 33-man England squad earlier today.
Uncapped stars Sam Johnstone, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Ben Godfrey forced their way in.
But their was no place for the likes of Eric Dier, James Maddison, Danny Ings or Patrick Bamford.
Ahead of naming his final #EURO2020 squad next week, Gareth Southgate has selected 33 players to join up with the #ThreeLions from this weekend as our preparations for this summer’s tournament get under way.— England (@England) May 25, 2021

    THE ONES WHO GOT AWAY
England have named their provisional, 33-man squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.
And Three Lions fans will be left licking their lips ahead of next month’s competition after Gareth Southgate named one of the most exciting-looking groups ever.
For decades, England supporters have had to put up with uninspiring, humdrum squads, particularly since the so-called ‘Golden Generation’ called time on their careers.
During those years, a host of big-name, foreign Premier League players were being tipped to swap allegiances and represent England.
Even more recently, some superstars – including Erling Haaland – have been linked with a move to the Three Lions.
Here are some of the best players who could have chosen the Three Lions.

    AGBONLAHOR BACKS SOUTHGATE
Former Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Gareth Southgate’s decision not to include Patrick Bamford in his provisional 33-man squad for Euro 2020.
He told talkSPORT: “Bamford is very unlucky not to make it, but the sort of striker he is, Greenwood is better, Kane is better, and he’s similar to them.
“He’s not similar to Calvert-Lewin or Watkins, they can run the channels, they’re pests, they’ve got hold-up play. They’re different strikers.
“Bamford was in competition with Kane and Greenwood, and he’s not going to get in ahead of them.”

    HERE WE GO
England are now the favourites to win Euro 2020.

    WAN OF A KIND
Former Manchester United and England star Andrew Cole believes that Aaron Wan-Bissaka was unlucky not to make Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man Euro 2020 squad.
He told talkSPORT 2: “When anyone gets mentioned regarding the right-back position, they always say they’re not sure about players defensively, especially Alexander-Arnold.
“Wan-Bissaka is the opposite. Defensively, he’s brilliant. Going forward, he doesn’t attack as good as he rest of the boys.
“But defensively, he’s up there with the best of them.”

    LOW BAR
Hansi Flick has been announced as Joachim Low’s successor as Germany boss.
The World Cup-winning Low, 61, announced earlier this year that he’d be leaving his post with Die Mannschaft after the tournament.
Flick, his former assistant, had been approached by Spurs – following the news that he’d be departing Bayern Munich.
But the 56-year-old elected to to snub the North Londoners in favour of his country.

    Raheem Sterling 16/1

    KEEP CALM
Gareth Southgate insists he has no fears about his goalkeepers for the Euros – even though three of the four he has named in his squad have just ONE cap between them.
Jordan Pickford has come through a crisis in form to end the season well with Everton and is the clear first choice for England this summer.
Manchester United’s Dean Henderson is the back-up with Nick Pope injured but he only made his single appearances for the Three Lions in March.
Sam Johnstone of West Brom and Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale have never played at the highest level before – meaning England are woefully short of experience between the posts.
But Southgate said: “It doesn’t make me nervous because they’re the best we have and they’re the best available. We’re very unfortunate with the situation with Pope. He’s the one that we’ve given those more recent caps to.
“We know Jordan’s got great experience with us and we’ve got to prepare the others as best we can.
“We’ve known for a little period that the goalkeeping situation internationally for us is unusually inexperienced. The more experienced ones have found themselves out of their club teams and even those guys are limited caps.
“You’ve got to go back to the Joe Harts and perhaps Fraser Forster who’s had a little spell with Southampton. We’ve got to go with the next generation and give them the experiences.”

    ENGLAND’S PROVISIONAL 33-MAN EURO 2020 SQUAD
Here’s a reminder of England’s provisional 33-man squad for Euro 2020. Gareth Southgate will narrow that down to 26 on Tuesday.

    CITIZEN KANE
Gareth Southgate insists Manchester United transfer target Harry Kane will not be leaving Tottenham until after the Euros.
He said: “I don’t feel I need to talk to Harry Kane regarding focus or professionalism.
“He has one goal with us and that’s to win the European Championship. He knows how important that is at this moment in time. What’s happening at his club is a matter for him and Tottenham.
“He’s made some statements in the last few days, but that is out of the way now. It’s very unlikely that transfer deals will be done while we are away.
“It’s different when we meet up in September and I’m very realistic that you can’t stop phones ringing, but most deals will be done at the end of the tournament or in the first week before it starts.
“I would expect most deals in terms of our players to be done after the tournament.”

    INJURY TIME
Gareth Southgate admits he is in the dark whether Harry Maguire will be fit for the Euros – because Manchester United have kept his medical details secret from England.
He said: “At this moment in time, Harry might play tomorrow or he might be out for two months I just don’t know.
“We had an initial assessment, which was positive in terms of the tournament, but there was always a little bit more swelling and further investigation needed.
“Of course when you’ve got a European final and information for the opposition is so tight and things do leak I understand why clubs want to keep their cards close to their chest.
“It’s made it a little bit more difficult for us but I don’t have a problem with Manchester United at all, I totally understand it.”

    SUPER SNUBS
Euro 2020 will be a festival of football this summer with some of the world’s best players on show.
But there will be some huge names including Sergio Ramos, Erling Haaland and Virgil van Dijk missing from the tournament.

    TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF

A BIT OF ALP FROM LADY LUCK
Austria’s poor showing at the last European Championship might have been sobering – but a favourable draw means they again have high hopes of making a mark when Euro 2020 finally kicks off.
Austria have been paired with the seeded Netherlands in Group C but will expect to finish above North Macedonia and Ukraine to reach the knockout stage.
Boss Franco Foda said: “The Netherlands are the favourites. The Ukraine remained unbeaten in qualifying and topped their group ahead of Portugal and Serbia.
“At the tournament, everything is possible and details will be decisive. We will do everything we can to qualify for the round of 16.”
First priority for Austria, however, is to win a game. Their previous two appearances at the finals, as co-hosts in 2008 and in France in 2016, produced two drab draws and four defeats.
They had high hopes last time after an unbeaten run in the qualifiers with nine wins out of 10 and an eight-point gap over the chasing pack in their group. But in the finals they flopped.
    MORNING, EUROS FANS
Gareth Southgate announced his provisional 33-man England squad yesterday, with four uncapped players getting the nod.
Ben Godfrey, Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone all made the cut, although there were some difficult omissions for Southgate to make.
Meanwhile, Germany announced boss Joachim Low’s successor.
His former assistant Hansi Flick will take the reins after the tournament, having turned down Spurs following his Bayern exit.
Low, 61, will go into his final competition joined by two of his formerly trusted lieutenants in Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels.. despite having previously vowed to never pick them again.

    LILLE BIT STRANGE
Lille head coach Christophe Galtier has left the Ligue 1 club… just days after guiding them to the title.
Speaking to L’Equipe, he revealed that he had ‘done his time here’.
He said: “I made my decision. I informed my president, Olivier Letang, after having listened to him a lot this morning, that I was going to leave LOSC. Or that I was stopping with LOSC, I do not know quite what term to use.
“I just feel strongly that I have done my time here. That four-year cycle is long enough for a coach. So yes, it’s only been five months that I collaborate every day with Olivier Letang and five months is not a lot for a collaboration.
“Having spent four years here, I feel inside that it’s time to leave this beautiful club, this magnificent club.”

Uefa have opened the way to ban Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus from the Champions League after beginning formal disciplinary charges against the revel trio.
Uefa has put the screws on all three who now know they face serious sanctions unless they apologise and finally give up the ghost on their concept.

Tottenham are in line for a huge cash windfall as Sporting Lisbon reportedly eye a bid for Marcus Edwards.
The former Spurs winger, 22, swapped London for Portuguese outfit Vitoria in 2019.
But A Bola claims Edwards is now being lined up by new Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon.
Their interest in Edwards is great news for Tottenham, who could now cash in.
It’s believed the deal taking Edwards to Vitoria nearly two years ago included a clause giving Spurs 50 per cent of his next transfer fee.
Edwards, who has a release clause of £41million, is said to be valued at around £11.5m.
And should he go for that figure, Spurs would cash in to the sum of just under £6m.
Spurs will be set for a huge cash windfall if Marcus Edwards joins Sporting Lisbon

Harry Maguire has NOT trained with his Manchester United team-mates, despite travelling with them to Gdansk.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to rule his skipper out of contention for tomorrow night’s game, despite his recent injury woes.
But the big defender, who was earlier included in Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man England squad, was forced to watch the from the sidelines as his team-mates were put through their paces.

Arsenal and Aston Villa are in a transfer fight for Emiliano Buendia, according to reports.
The Norwich playmaker, 24, enjoyed a stunning season helping fire the Canaries to a second Championship promotion in his three years at Carrow Road.
But Daniel Farke faces a huge battle keeping hold of his star man this summer.
Arsenal were linked with him last year and look set to revive their interest.
According to The Telegraph, the Gunners may be forced to act quickly if they want to secure the Argentine.
It is thought Aston Villa are prioritising a new No10 and preparing a bid.
Norwich ace Emiliano Buendia is a transfer target for Arsenal and Aston Villa
    SHAW THING
Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw has revealed what winning the Europa League tomorrow night would mean to him.
The full-back, 25, missed the triumphant final in 2017 because of injury.
And ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Villarreal in Gdansk, he said: “I was a bit unfortunate last time, I wasn’t there.
“This season, especially now there’s, personally in my opinion, much more confidence and belief in the squad that we’re improving as a team.
“This is the next step [on Wednesday night] to go out and show that we’re going in the right direction. There’s a lot of confidence and belief that we’re taking the right steps and this is another step in the right direction.
“A [winners] medal would mean a great deal. It’s something that when you come to Manchester United you look to win trophies. We’ve missed out on a few trophies in the last few years and I know how disappointed the lads have been. So there is a massive incentive to go out there and obviously enjoy it, but leave everything out on the pitch to win it.
“I look around and everyone seems very relaxed, enjoying the moment being here in the final. We have not been in one for a while. I think most of the lads are just looking forward to getting out there.
“There is no need for nerves, we’re here for a reason, I think we deserve to be here. And on Wednesday night we just need to go out there and do what we’ve done to get here, and hopefully we can come back with the trophy.
“The last couple of days after the great win against Wolves we have studied Villarreal, but we need to focus on us and all the players will give everything to win this trophy and try to finish the season in a good way.”

Cesar Azpilicueta will be free to start Chelsea’s season next term after winning an appela against his final day red card.
The Blues captain was dismissed by Stuart Attwell following a last minute clash with Jack Grealish.
Azpilicueta reacted to a foul by the England midfielder, who stayed down holding his face after being brushed by the Chelsea defender’s left arm.
But a wrongful dismissal claim was upheld by an FA disciplinary committee and the card and three-match ban was removed from his record.

Brighton have joined the race for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.
The French forward, 23, is also being chased by Leicester and Arsenal.
But the Seagulls hope their promise of a regular starting berth could convince Edouard to head to the South Coast.
Former Paris Saint-Germain kid Edouard may find it difficult to dislodge first-choice Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho should he go to the FA Cup-winning Foxes.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s interest is understood to be dependent on whether Alexandre Lacazette stays or goes this summer.

    S-MART DECISIONS
Tottenham are reportedly in talks with Belgium boss Roberto Martinez to become their new manager.
Sky Sports claims Daniel Levy has identified the former Everton gaffer as the perfect man to replace Jose Mourinho.
Spurs have now reached out to Martinez as he prepares for Belgium’s adventure at the Euros.
And Sky add the Spanish tactician has already told friends he expects a return to club football later this summer.
Euro 2020 could be Roberto Martinez’s final tournament in charge of Belgium
    AS LUK WOULD HAVE IT
Luka Modric has signed a one-year contract extension at Real Madrid, keeping him at the club until 2022.
The Croatian’s previous deal had been set to expire at the end of June.
Some speculation had arisen that he could depart Santiago Bernabeu to try something new before the end of his career.
But the former Spurs midfielder, 35, is loving life at Real Madrid as much as ever.
Modric celebrated his extension by posing in front of a collection of Madrid’s European Cups, while holding aloft a shirt with ‘Modric 2022’ on the back.
Alongside the image, Modric wrote on Instagram: “Happy and proud to continue wearing the jersey of the best team in the world. ✍️❤️🙏 #HalaMadrid”

    IN THE BAGG
Frank Lampard is set to have talks with West Brom over the vacant Hawthorns manager’s job.
Sam Allardyce quit the role after failing to stop the Baggies from being relegated.
It was the first time Big Sam had ever experienced dropping out of the top-flight in more than 500 games as manager.
West Brom chiefs are now on the hunt for a new boss to lead their Championship charge as they aim to break back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Ex-Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder was an early frontrunner to take over.
But Lampard is also on the club’s shortlist and is likely to be interviewed for the role.
The former England midfielder has experienced life in the Championship before having managed Derby before taking over at Chelsea.

    WILF HUNTER
Tottenham are reportedly competing with Everton in the race to prise Wilfried Zaha away from Crystal Palace.
The 28-year-old winger is once again facing an uncertain future as he looks to depart Selhurst Park in his quest to win silverware.
And with just two years left to run on his contract in South London, the Ivory Coast international is unlikely to pen a new deal.
According to Goal, both Spurs and the Toffees are chasing Zaha, while long-term admirers Arsenal are claimed to be eyeing up Norwich’s Emiliano Buendia instead.
Tottenham could press ahead with a move for Zaha if star striker Harry Kane is sold.
Meanwhile Everton have retained their interest in the player after having two bids rejected for him in 2019.
It has been stated that despite the Eagles looking to keep Zaha, he could be available for £40million.
    ARSEN-ALL OVER
Willian is keen to quit Arsenal and re-join Chelsea just 12 months after leaving on a free, according to reports.
The Brazilian forward, 32, walked away from Stamford Bridge last year after the Blues refused to offer him a three-year contract extension.
Chelsea famously refuse to offer more than one-year extensions to players over the age of 30, but were willing to compromise and hand Willian a two-year deal.
But Willian instead opted to sign a three-year deal at Arsenal.
Things haven’t gone smoothly for the winger though, after a tricky debut season in North London.
It’s now believed Willian and is keen to quit the Emirates – with a number of clubs monitoring his situation.
Willian believed to have offers from across Europe, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami also keen.
But Sky Sports now say the forward is keen to head back to Chelsea, where he played over 300 times in seven years – helping the club win two Premier League crowns.

    ENGLAND’S EUROS SQUAD BY CLUB

BEST ENGLAND XI WHO MISSED OUT ON 33-MAN PROVISIONAL SQUAD

    ‘BACKED OFF’
Jamie Vardy “backed off” from a move to Arsenal from Leicester after a meeting with Arsene Wenger in 2016.
The Gunners matched the £20million release fee clause inserted in the striker’s contract at the time and soon opened talks with the hotshot.
Vardy, who had just returned from Euro 2016 with England, scored 24 goals to fire Leicester to their magical Premier League title win the season previous.
The ex-Fleetwood marksman looked set to leave the King Power to join Arsenal only to change his mind late on, and he still remains at the Foxes.
He previously told Sun Sport: “I’ve always said the brotherhood at Leicester is unbelievable.
“It wasn’t that big a decision, it was quite easy, this is where I wanted to be.”
Now Dick Law, who was Arsenal’s transfer negotiator at the time, has now revealed how the deal broke down.
He told The Athletic: “The deal with Leicester was done, the deal with the player was done.
“He came down to visit with his wife Rebekah, he sat on the couch in front of Arsene…and then he backed off.
“On his way back to Leicester I get a call from the player saying he wants to think about it overnight. At that point, you know it’s bad news.”

    XAVI SAYS NO TO BRAZIL
IF the Brazil FA had it their way, then Barcelona legend Xavi would be next manager of the national team.
Reports claimed that the Brazil FA made an offer to the former midfield maestro, who is the manager of Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd.
He was to join the national team coaching staff now, with a view to taking over as head coach after the next World Cup. However, he turned down the offer.
It is understandable if he thought that it was far too soon in his coaching career to be thinking of such a high pressure job in a country that he barely knows.

    LIGT’S OUT
Matthijs de Ligt is angling for a move to Barcelona after growing discontent with life at Juventus, according to reports.
The Dutch central defender, 21, had endured two difficult seasons in Turin following his high-profile move from Ajax in 2019.
Juventus forked out a whopping £67.5million on the youngster, beating competition from Barca for his signature.
During the same summer, De Ligt’s former Ajax team-mate and close friend Frenkie De Jong made the switch to the Nou Camp.
According to Catalunya Radio, the pair have been in close contact with De Ligt pushing for a reunion at Barca.
The report adds how Barcelona would be interested in concluding a deal, but know financial restrictions will make it tough.
De Ligt still has three years left on his deal at Juventus so they are in no rush to cash in.

    ENGLAND’S PROVISIONAL 33-MAN SQUAD FOR EURO 2020
GOALKEEPERS: Dean Henderson (Man Utd), Sam Johnstone (West Brom), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Sheffield Utd).
DEFENDERS: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Conor Coady (Wolves), Ben Godfrey (Everton), Reece James (Chelsea), Harry Maguire (Man Utd), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa), Luke Shaw (Man Utd), John Stones (Man City), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid), Kyle Walker (Man City), Ben White (Brighton).
MIDFIELDERS: Jude Bellingham (Dortmund), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (West Ham/Man Utd), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds), Declan Rice (West Ham), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton).
FORWARDS: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Phil Foden (Man City), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Mason Greenwood (Man Utd), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Jadon Sancho (Dortmund), Raheem Sterling (Man City), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa).
    IBRA-CADABRA
Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of RB Leipzig star Ibrahima Konate.
The Reds have been linked with the centre-back for months as Jurgen Klopp looks to solve his defensive woes.
Now the Daily Mail claims the transfer should become a done deal this summer after Liverpool agreed to meet his £40million release clause.
Konate is celebrating his 22nd birthday today back in his French homeland.
He is currently preparing for Les Bleus’ European U21 Championship quarter-final against Holland next week.
But today’s report states ‘German sources understand he will resolve his move to Anfield imminently’.

    BRIGHT SPARK
SunSport exclusively revealed that Brighton defender Ben White is in contention for a shock England call-up for Euro 2020.
Harry Maguire’s ankle injury plus form concerns about Eric Dier have led to the Three Lions boss suddenly looking at other options.
And White, 23, is the player who has caught his eye the most.
Southgate even made a trip down to the south coast to watch him in action earlier this month.
SunSport understands the ball-playing defender has been told to not to fly off on holiday this week after completing his Premier League season at Arsenal.

    ENGLAND SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT
When is the England Euro 2020 squad announced?

Gareth Southgate will name his PROVISIONAL England squad at 1pm today.
Southgate will be talking from The Three Lions’ St George’s Park HQ to make his announcement.
Southgate will be able to name his final squad on June 1, especially if any of the players involved in the Europa and Champions League finals get injured.

    ‘ARD TIMES
Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and Jody Morris are reportedly set to part ways ahead of their returns to football.
Blues icon Lampard, 42, took his close friend with him to Derby in 2018 where he appointed him as his assistant manager.
And Chelsea’s all-time top scorer then brought the 42-year-old with him when he returned to Stamford Bridge a year later to take charge of his beloved side.
Both men – who played together at Chelsea during the early 2000s – are out of a job having had their contracts in West London terminated in January.
According to the Daily Mail, the pair are ready to take up separate coaching roles.
They state that Morris could be eyeing up his first managerial job having caught the interest of a number of clubs.

    FEELING THE HEAT
Tom Heaton has agreed to join Manchester United from Aston Villa on a free transfer, according to reports.
The former England stopper is out of contract this summer and is set to take the third-choice keeper spot at Old Trafford.
Heaton, 35, spent six years at Burnley before making the switch to Villa two years ago.
But he is surplus to requirements having lost his place to Emi Martinez who joined from Arsenal last summer.
Last month, SunSport exclusively revealed United were in for Heaton – as well as another former Red Devils ace, Sam Johnstone.
And now the deal is done, according to the Mirror.

    HEART AND SOL
Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ‘quietly confident’ going into tomorrow night’s Europa League final.
He said: “It’s not about me. I’ve got enough self-belief, whatever circumstances I’ve been in.
“[I’m] Quietly confident, as I’ve always said. Trusting the players. These players are ready for this and that’s the main thing.
“I’ve seen in them something growing inside of them, more and more confident, more and more robust and resilient to setbacks.
“As a group, I’m confident that we’re ready for this now.”

    GUNNAR BE FIT?
Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has offered a team news update ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League final.
And the Norwegian has NOT ruled out selecting injured captain Harry Maguire.
He said: “We’ve prepared well. Anthony didn’t make it, Phil didn’t make it, of course, and Harry is just going to jog up and down the sidelines [in training]. I reckon he’ll try to join in a bit.
“Apart from that, we’re looking quite good.”

    MORE FROM BRUNO
Ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League final, Bruno Fernandes said: “We come to this club because we want to win trophies.

    RON HIS WAY?
Manchester United transfer target Cristiano Ronaldo will hold urgent talks with Juventus over his future as transfer speculation mounts.
The Portuguese legend, 36, only has a year remaining on his whopping £540,000-a-week deal.
He looked set to depart the club if they missed out on Champions League qualification but Juventus managed to scrape fourth-place in Serie A with a 4-1 win over Bologna.
However, the forward was left on the bench for that crunch clash with boss Andrea Pirlo claiming that decision was down to ‘fatigue’.
A host of clubs have been linked with a move for Ronaldo, with both former sides Man Utd and Real Madrid keen on bringing him back.
Paris Saint-Germain are another side who would love to add him to their ranks while his first club, Sporting Lisbon, would be his mother’s ideal destination for her son.

    ROAD TO GDANSK

    ENGLAND’S EUROS SQUAD BY CLUB

GARETH SOUTHGATE ON HARRY MAGUIRE’S INJURY
The England manager said: “From a club perspective, Manchester United have got a huge final tomorrow so it hasn’t been easy getting information, and we understand that.
“Kalvin Phillips also got injured with Leeds. These are the realities we’ve had to cope with in the last few days, and why we thought having more time would help us.”
    ROY RAGE
ANDY GORAM furiously told Roy Keane to “f*** off”‘ at Manchester United before a “scared” Gary Neville warned him “we don’t talk to Roy like that” back in 2001.
Goram recalled the moment they met: “Shark’s eyes. Dead, devoid of emotion, glaring at me. No handshake. Welcome to Manchester United, Roy Keane-style.
“There were clashes between us. One day in training, we were playing a game of eight-a-side and Keane and Luke Chadwick were up front for my team.
“I always prided myself on the accuracy of my kicking, on being able to pick out a player from a distance, and that day I half-volleyed a peach right on to Chadwick’s foot.
“The kid snatched at it and ballooned his volley over the bar. Suddenly, I was the target of a volley of abuse from Keane. ‘Hey you, give me the f*g ball,’ he screamed.
“I replied, ‘What, do you get the ball just because you’re Roy Keane? F*** off’.
“The atmosphere was icy from that moment on, and on the way off the field Gary Neville collared me. ‘Goalie,’ he said, ‘we don’t talk to Roy like that down here. We just don’t’.
“It was a telling insight for me. Of course I respected Keane as a player, but I couldn’t have that.”

    HEROES & VILLANS
Manchester United finished one place higher than they were expected to in the Premier League this season, according to a Premier League supercomputer.
But Wolves and relegated Sheffield United were the biggest disappointments of the campaign.
Dean Smith’s side avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth on the final day of last season but have transformed themselves this campaign.
But the Blades were a revelation in 2019-20 before capitulating this season and dropping into the Championship.
After Villa, West Ham and Newcastle were the next biggest over-achievers.
Both sides finished five positions higher than Bettingexperts’ supercomputer predicted they would at the start of the campaign.

    CONTROVERSY
CIES Football Observatory have named their Premier League Team of the Year leaving fans utterly furious.
Another top-flight season is in the books with Manchester City reclaiming their title from Liverpool.
In an exciting season, the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Mohamed Salah, Luke Shaw, Ilkay Gundogan and N’Golo Kante set the league alight with their incredible play.
Yet bizarrely, NONE of those star names made CIES Football Observatory’s best XI for 2020-21.
Even more astonishingly the team did include the likes of Granit Xhaka and Victor Lindelof.

    CANT COMPARE
Bruno Fernandes has spoken of his pride to be compared with Eric Cantona after a monumental 2020-21 season.
Fernandes told BBC Sport: “It is an honour to be compared with him.
“The impact he had was really high and he won many major trophies with the club.
“But when you are compared with this kind of big player it means you need to be better every day.
“It makes me work harder to keep in the mind of the people, being compared with him. That, for me, is a good pressure.”

    LUKE-ING UP
Luke Shaw will be hoping to make up for missing five finals in a row by starting in Manchester United’s Europa League final against Villarreal tomorrow night.
He said: “There was disappointment with all of them, really.
“In big games at big times are big opportunities to show yourself and I feel like I missed out on them.”

    MEMORY LANE
Gary Neville has urged Manchester United against a sensational reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo.
All signs are pointing towards Ronaldo’s exit at Juventus after he was dropped for their crucial final game of the season.
Ronaldo then posted a lengthy cryptic message on social media strongly hinting he was ready for a new challenge.
And Juventus’ financial crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic has raised doubts over whether they can afford to keep Ronaldo beyond the season.
Ronaldo earns a staggering £540,000-a-week and still has a year left on his contract.
Following reports United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is closely monitoring his availability, one fan took the opportunity to ask club legend Neville whether the Red Devils should push ahead with the transfer.
But the former right-back dismissed it, replying: “Love him but think it’s better to leave the memories where they are.”

    HURTY HARRY
This is how we expect Manchester United to line up against Villarreal in the Europa League final tomorrow evening, with captain Harry Maguire set to miss out due to injury.

Dani Ceballos has taken to Instagram to thank Arsenal fans as he departs the club for a second time.
The Spaniard has spent the last two seasons on loan in North London.
And while things largely haven’t gone well on the pitch in that time, Ceballos, 24, still has plenty of amazing memories to take back to Madrid with him.
None more so than helping the Gunners win the FA Cup last season.

    GOAL OF THE MONTH?

And he’s joined on the shortlist by on loan star Joe Willock.

    EM-BELIEVABLE
Arsenal are ‘seriously considering’ a move for Norwich star Emi Buendia, according to reports.
The Argentine impressed for the Canaries this season, as Daniel Farke’s side romped to the Championship title.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have ‘re-started talks’ with his representatives having held conversations in December.

    NIC OF TIME
Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has been nominated for May’s Premier League goal of the month award.
The Ivorian winger finished the season in red hot form for Mikel Arteta’s side.
And it is his beauty against West Brom that has earned him the nomination.
He will be up against goals from Danny Welbeck, Bertrand Traore, Luke Thomas, Ferran Torres, Edinson Cavani, Phil Foden and Steven Bergwijn.

    MUY BUEN

    PICK THAT OUT
Arsenal Women’s star Vivianne Miedema has won the WSL’s goal of the season.
And not bad to do it in a North London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!

    TAKING THE MIK
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been nominated for May’s Premier League Manager of the Month award.
The Spaniard guided the Gunners to wins in their final five domestic matches of the campaign.
These results included a stunning 1-0 win at Chelsea, but wasn’t enough to seal the North Londoners European football for next term.

    WILF HUNTER
Tottenham and Everton have reportedly joined the race for long-term Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha this summer.
The 28-year-old winger is once again facing an uncertain future as he looks to depart Selhurst Park in his quest to win silverware.
And with just two years left to run on his contract in South London, the Ivory Coast international is unlikely to pen a new deal.
According to Goal, both Spurs and the Toffees are chasing Zaha, while long-term admirers Arsenal are now claimed to be eyeing up Norwich’s Emiliano Buendia instead.

    CIAO JOE
Joe Montemurro is rumoured to be close to becoming Juventus Women’s head coach following his Arsenal departure, according to reports.
The 51-year-old is top of the Serie A Women’s side’s shortlist for the role according to the Italian newspaper Affari Italiani.
Speculation has grown following the news of Rita Guarino’s decision to leave the Italian champions after four years at the helm.
Guarino, 50, had been in charge since the Old Lady’s women’s team was established in 2017.
Juve, who crushed Inter Milan in their final Serie A game of the 2020-21 season, won their fourth top-flight title this year.
And the Turin juggernauts have dominated the Italian women’s game since their creation winning one Cup and two Super Cups.
Australian Montemurro has Italian parents and spent five years as a player in the country.

ARSENAL BACK SAKA AFTER ENGLAND CALL-UP

    HEROES & VILLAINS
Arsenal finished two places below where they were expected to in the Premier League this season, according to a Premier League supercomputer
But Wolves and relegated Sheffield United were the biggest disappointments of the campaign.

    MAT FINISH
Mat Ryan has hinted he could prolong his stay at Arsenal following his loan spell from Brighton.
The boyhood Arsenal took to social media where he uploaded a number of pictures from his time at the club.
Captioning the Instagram post, he said: “Have had a blast with this last chapter experiencing all that’s been involved in representing Arsenal.
“Have learnt so much and enjoyed every minute of it.
“To the many great people around the club whom I’ve had the pleasure of associating with, thank you for making me feel welcome and making the transition into the family a very easy one.
“I look forward to continuing the relationships well into the future. Excited for what the future will bring.”
    SO NEAR YET SO VARSENAL
Arsenal would have finished FOURTH without VAR this season.
A SunSport study of all the decisions overturned by Stockley Park shows the Gunners were the biggest “sufferers” from the system.
If all on-field original decisions had stuck, Mikel Arteta’s men would have earned four more points.
That would have been enough to take them above Tottenham, West Ham AND Chelsea and steal the final Champions League spot.
Instead, Arsenal finished eighth and OUT of Europe for the first time since 1995-96.

    SAND STORM
Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge has dropped a hint regarding his future amid interest from Arsenal.
Berge has fuelled speculation that he could link up with Mikel Arteta’s side after posting a picture of him with Odegaard on his Instagram story on Monday night.
Berge shared a photo of the two enjoying a meal out, with Arsenal fans left convinced they was discussing potential moves to the club.

“The team is confident and we trust ourselves. We know what we have to do.”

    NO PAIN NO GAIN
Marcus Rashford claims England will benefit from their World Cup pain in their bid to reach the Euros final.
The Manchester United striker, 23, said: “We’ve got a good chance. The talent and ability in the team is as high as I have seen it.
“A lot of it is down to self-belief. I was speaking to some of the players and I think the only thing that stopped us last time was entering that element of the unknown.
“We hadn’t been that far as a team before and we didn’t know what to expect…I feel like we’ve learnt from those experiences, plus we’ve got a few new talented faces in the squad.
“We’re looking at a really good balance and you need balance to win trophies.”
    HARRY-ON LUGGAGE
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire says criticism from pundits annoys him as he flew out to Gdansk for the Europa League final.
The England star said: “Yeah I think it does, I’m not going to sit here and lie. But I think you’ve got to come to an agreement that it’s opinions, everyone has an opinion.
“Of course everyone wants to hear people speak about them doing well and everything’s nice but that’s not life, that’s not football, you’ve got to accept that.
“I think it can change confidence in players, especially the ones that listen to it more than others.
“Because you’re a big part of the game now. You analyse things, every goal that we concede you analyse.
“I think it can affect confidence but what I would say is that when you do, you don’t just speak negative about players, you also speak positive so I think as a footballer you’ve got to expect that.”

    NOT IN A HARRY
Manchester United will win the Premier League if they DON’T sign Harry Kane this summer, according to ex-Red Devil Owen Hargreaves.
He told the Mail: “It’s a big call: do you get a right winger, a centre-back and a central midfielder or do they go and get Harry Kane?
“I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer. The one thing you would say is that they won’t want Kane to go elsewhere, they don’t want him to go to their competition. I am sure there is a lot going on behind the scenes right now.
“Recruitment is easy. You ask: what do we have and what do we need? Right now, United need a right winger, a central midfielder and a central defender. If Ole gets those three, he can win the league next season.
“He (Ole) needs to be backed. If he is backed and they bring in players, I don’t mean any players, I am talking difference-makers.
“Look at the impact Virgil van Dijk had at Liverpool, the impact Ruben Dias had at City. You need guys in the areas you need, if Ole gets that, they will be closer.
“It all comes down to money, this is not fantasy football. Everyone wants Neymar and Mbappe but that’s not realistic.
“I think Jadon Sancho would suit United perfectly, I also like Raphinha at Leeds. He would offer something different.
“They need a centre-back. Liverpool were a really good team but became a great team when Van Dijk went there. City were a really good team and Dias has made them a great one.
“Ole loves to use two midfielders in a double pivot because it gives the team balance.
“Maybe next season, he can find a way to get both Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba into the team with one defensive midfielder who can do that pivot job on his own, someone like Kante, to then free the likes of Marcus Rashford or Mason Greenwood, Cavani and Sancho. That is killer. United can go toe-to-toe with anyone with that.”
    WELL I NEV-ER
Gary Neville has called on Manchester United to sign Harry Kane, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho this summer and become Premier League champions.
But the former Red Devils skipper does NOT want his old side to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
Asked by one fan whether boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be backed this summer, he replied emphatically: “Yes!”
Then quizzed by another on where United can finish with the ‘right signings’ he answered: “Varane, Kane and Sancho = title.”
But Neville doesn’t believe that bringing Ronaldo back is such a good idea.
He said: “Love him but think it’s better to leave the memories where they are.”

    RON WAY STREET
Manchester United transfer target Cristiano Ronaldo has posted a lengthy cryptic message which has fans believing he is quitting Juventus.
It read: “The life and career of any top player are made of ups and downs. Year after year, we face fantastic teams, with extraordinary players and ambitious goals, so we always have to give our best to keep ourselves at excellence levels.
“This year we couldn’t win Serie A, congratulations to Inter for the well deserved title. However, I have to value everything that we achieved this season at Juventus, both in collective and individual terms.
“The Italian Super Cup, the Italian Cup and the Serie A Top Scorer trophy fill me with happiness, mainly due to the difficulty they carry with them, in a country where nothing is easy to win.
“With these achievements, I reached a goal that I had set myself since the first day I arrived in Italy: to win the Championship, the Cup and the Super Cup, and also to be Best Player and Top Scorer in this great football country filled with tremendous players, giant clubs and a very own football culture.
“I’ve already said that I don’t chase records, records chase me. For those who don’t understand what I mean by this, it’s very simple: football is a collective game, but it is through individual overcoming that we help our teams achieve their goals.
“It is always looking for more and more on the field, working more and more off the field, that records eventually emerge and collective titles become inevitable, some being the natural consequence of the other.
“So, I’m very proud with this fact that has been widely replicated in recent days: Champion in England, Spain and Italy; Cup winner in England, Spain and Italy; Super Cup winner in England, Spain and Italy; Best Player in England, Spain and Italy; Best Scorer in England, Spain and Italy; Over 100 goals for a club in England, Spain and Italy.
“Nothing compares to the feeling of knowing that I’ve left my mark in the countries where I’ve played, and that I gave joy to the fans of the clubs I represented. This is what I work for, this is what moves me and this is what I’ll always keep chasing for until the last day.
“Thanks to everyone who took part in this journey! We stand together!”

    MAGUIRE FLIES OUT TO GDANSK
Injured Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has flown out with the rest of the squad for the Europa League final against Villarreal on Wednesday.
The England international will not feature against the Spanish side, but has gone with the team in a morale-boosting move.

    SAN STORM
Manchester United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho could finally be over this summer with Borussia Dortmund reportedly telling the star he can leave.
The Red Devils were desperate to land the England winger last summer only to be priced out of a move.
The Bundesliga side wanted £117million for the 21-year-old – now they will allegedly accept £75m.
German newspaper BILD claim that this summer will be Dortmund’s ‘final goodbye’ to Sancho.
They are determined to hang on to fellow starlet Erling Haaland as a host of big guns across Europe plot swoops.
But selling Sancho to United instead of cashing in on the Norwegian is allegedly viewed as ‘acceptable’ by Dortmund chiefs.

    GOOD MORNING UTD FANS,
Harry Maguire says criticism from pundits annoys him.
The Red Devils star made the revelation in an interview with Sky pundit Gary Neville and it comes after Roy Keane laid into him last year.
He told the Overlap: “Yeah I think it does, I’m not going to sit here and lie.
Meanwhile, West Ham fear Manchester United will block any attempt to sign Jesse Lingard by opting to keep the star this summer.
Lingard played a key role in helping the Hammers secure a Europa League spot with nine goals in 16 appearances on loan in the capital.
Boss David Moyes is desperate to bring the 28-year-old to the London Stadium on a permanent basis.
But the popular Hammers gaffer admitted on Sunday he had no clue whether a deal was possible.
There are increasing concerns within the club that United have no interest in letting the England ace leave Old Trafford on the back of the impact he has made while on loan.
SunSport understands there has been no contact at all between the two clubs to discuss a permanent deal, despite the Hammers making it clear they would be willing buyers.
And finally, United are ‘exploring’ a stunning return for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been looking to add to his striking department for months to help close the gap on champions Man City.
They have been linked with big-money moves for Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
But Spurs are allegedly determined not to sell their star man to United as he looks set for a huge £150m switch to City instead.
Haaland is now also set to stay in the Bundesliga for another 12 months leaving Solskjaer to look elsewhere for new firepower as reports suggest Southampton’s Danny Ings has emerged as a target.
However, a fresh claim by The Athletic states that they could still look to bring their former hero Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.
    LUKE-ING UP
To miss one final is unlucky. Two is heartbreaking. Three, you might start wondering if you are in the right trade.
But four… no make that FIVE if you want to chuck in a Super Cup… well.
Well that is Luke Shaw’s back catalogue at Manchester United as he finally looks forward to breaking his duck in the Europa League final against Villarreal in Gdansk.
He said: “There was disappointment with all of them, really.
“In big games at big times are big opportunities to show yourself and I feel like I missed out on them.”

Australian Montemurro has Italian parents and spent five years as a player in the country.

    GOING FLOUT OUT
Arsenal ace Thomas Partey is facing the music after footage emerged of him allegedly flouting Covid rules at a private bash.
A video featuring the £45million star was shared on Instagram by a stunning model just before 3am on Sunday.
It appeared to show the Ghanaian, 27, dancing with pals at a heaving nightclub only hours after the Gunners had slumped to their worst end to a season in 25 years.
Arsenal confirmed it was taking the matter  “seriously”.
Partey, wearing a white t-shirt and heavy gold chain, was seen alongside dozens of maskless revellers at the unidentified venue, thought to be in London.
Bow-tied waiters later brought out Dom Pérignon champagne topped with sparklers in a lavish celebration for the group.
There is no suggestion Partey was drinking at the bash.
£45m Arsenal star Thomas Partey celebrates club’s worst season for 25 years by living it up at a private nightclub bash surrounded by girls and champagne
    AUBA AND UNDER
Arsenal are interested in a shock move for Leicester flop Cengiz Under, according to reports.
Under joined the Foxes on loan from Roma last summer, to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ forward line.
The temporary deal included a £20million option to buy.
But with the Turkish international having failed to make an impact in the East Midlands, he is set to be back on the market this summer.
His contract in the Italian capital still has another two years left to run.
But he is expected to be sold in the coming months.
According to Tutto Mercato, the Gunners are one of a number of teams interested in signing the winger, to potentially link up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

    CE-BYE-LLOS
Dani Ceballos has taken to Instagram to thank Arsenal fans as he departs the club for a second time.
The Spaniard has spent the last two seasons on loan in North London.
And while things largely haven’t gone well on the pitch in that time, Ceballos, 24, still has plenty of amazing memories to take back to Madrid with him.
None more so than helping the Gunners win the FA Cup last season.

    NICE FINISH
William Saliba finished his loan spell at Nice in fairytale fashion by scoring the winner against Lyon.
The centre-back will return to Arsenal this summer but left the Ligue 1 side a wonderful leaving present as he headed home on the hour mark to seal a 3-2 win.
Saliba joined the Gunners in a £27million deal in the summer of 2019 but is yet to make a first team appearance for the club.
The 20-year-old joined Nice on loan in January after Mikel Arteta left him out Arsenal’s Europa League and Premier League squads.
Saliba has played 22 games in all competitions for the French side but Sunday’s goal was his first.

    GOOD MORNING ARSENAL FANS,
Dani Ceballos has taken to Instagram to thank Arsenal fans as he departs the club for a second time.
The Spaniard has spent the last two seasons on loan in North London.
He wrote: “Thanks Arsenal and thanks to all Gunners.
“For welcoming me with so much love from the very first day I wore this jersey. For letting me experience the feeling of being a Gunner and allowing me to be a part of your family all this time.
“A complicated year – for many reasons- has come to its end. Especially for having missed the chance of living home matches in the Emirates with our supporters. Still, I assure you that I will neverforget your warmth and support in every moment.
“I am sure that Arsenal, being a historic and great team, will soon be back on top, winning championships and being a reference as it is and always has been. This club, and especially its supporters, deserve it, and I am confident that they will achieve it.
“Thanks to all those people who are part of the team: coaches, kit men, medical staff, communications and marketing team, employees, managers and especially the supporters.
“All those persons who so often work quietly giving all they have for this great club.
“I want you to know that I have always worked very hard and tried my very best for this crest and this jersey.
“I wish you all the best and the success that I’m sure will come.”
Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta feels Arsenal need to strengthen in the summer in order to compete with the rest of the Premier League next season.
The Spaniard said: “They’re going to get better [other PL teams] and they’re going to strengthen, so we need to get better.
“First of all, we have to get our players better, more consistent and help them to improve. All our way of playing, our philosophy, I think is in place.
“They buy into that and now is the moment to take it to the next level, to improve that and improve our consistency because since December to now, we’ve shown that we’re the second or third-bestteam in the league.
‘It’s not enough. Six months, the level is high, so we need to do that for 10 months.”
And finally, Arsenal legend Sol Campbell is out of the running for the England Under-21 job.
The former defender, who won 73 caps for the Three Lions in his playing career, is understood to have had an interview to succeed Aidy Boothroyd.
But the FA have decided to go in a different direction and ex-Southend and Macclesfield boss Campbell, 46, is no longer under consideration.
England can take their time over the appointment.
The Young Lions do not play a fixture until their Euro qualifier at home to Kosovo in September.
Justin Cochrane, the current head coach of England’s U17s side, remains the favourite for the role.
    DAN IN THE DUMPS
Dani Ceballos has confirmed his exit from Arsenal as the midfielder posted an emotional message to Gunners fans ahead of his Real Madrid return.

    EYES ON THE PRIZE
Manchester City romped to this season’s Premier League title, clinching glory with weeks to spare.
But while their success on the pitch increased this season, their prize money actually went DOWN.
According to The Times, City netted £163million for their efforts this campaign.
This figure is made up of their £123m ‘equal share’ payment – given to every club in this season’s Premier League – and then a further £40m for winning the title.
Eighth-placed Arsenal pocketed £26m, meaning their overall total was £149m.

    THE WHITE DECISION
Ben White and Ben Godfrey been included in Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man England squad, ahead of Euro 2020.
Neither the Brighton defender, 23, nor the Everton ace, also 23, have yet been capped by the Three Lions at senior level.
But Southgate is excited by what they could bring in the future.
The England boss said: “Ben is younger so there’s an investment there for the future. We’ve tracked him since he was on loan at Leeds. We’ve seen him play in midfield, he’s comfortable on the ball and has pace.
“It’s still early for centre-backs of his age, and Ben Godfrey, they tend to mature later. We think it’s a good opportunity for them to come and work with us.”

SOUTHGATE ON SPECULATION OVER KANE’S FUTURE AT SPURS
England boss Gareth Southgate also spoke about the uncertain future of Harry Kane at Tottenham.
He said: “I don’t ever need to have a conversation with Harry Kane regarding focus or professionalism. He has one goal this summer with us and that’s to win a European Championship.
“I know how important that is to him at this moment in time. What’s going on at his club is a matter for him and Tottenham. He’s made some statement in the last few days and, in many respects, that’s out of the way now.
“Talking across the board, I think it’s very unlikely that transfer deals will be done while we’re away. I think that’s different when we have our [training] camps in September. Very often we’re on that deadline moment and every now and then we’ve had to facilitate a medical or a meeting between a player and a manager.”

    ON TAKING 26 PLAYERS
Speaking about the increased size of squads from 23 to 26, Southgate said: “I’m still not a fan of 26, like [Spain coach] Luis Enrique.
“You want everybody to feel there or thereabouts, which is difficult if some players are not even going to be on the bench.
“It’s not a great dynamic but there’s a risk with not taking 26, with the injury doubts and Covid.”
    ON WHITE AND GODFREY INCLUSIONS
Southgate added: “Ben is younger so there’s an investment there for the future.

BEST ENGLAND XI WHO MISSED OUT ON 33-MAN PROVISIONAL SQUAD

    ON HARRY MAGUIRE’S INJURY
The England manager said: “From a club perspective, Manchester United have got a huge final tomorrow so it hasn’t been easy getting information, and we understand that.
“Kalvin Phillips also got injured with Leeds. These are the realities we’ve had to cope with in the last few days, and why we thought having more time would help us.”

    ON LEAVING OUT ERIC DIER
Southgate said: “He’s played in some big games for us. Unfortunately, I just don’t think his season’s been strong enough to make the squad.
“That wasn’t an easy conversation but he’s an outstanding professional and he took the news in a really professional way.”

    SOUTHGATE ON SELECTING 33 PLAYERS
When asked why Gareth Southgate has selected 33 players rather than the confirmed 26, he said: “I think our situation is more complicated than any other country.
“Of this 33, I think 12 are going to play in the Europa League and Champions League finals.
“We felt more time would allow us to make better decisions.”
WHEN WILL THE FINAL SQUAD BE ANNOUNCED?
Gareth Southgate will reduce his 33-man squad down to 26 next Tuesday, the day before England’s first warm-up game against Austria.
    Intriguing.
    ENGLAND’S PROVISIONAL EURO 2020 SQUAD
Here’s another look at the 33-man provisional squad that Gareth Southgate has selected.
He will be giving a press conference at 2pm to explain his decisions.

    GUTSY GARETH
UNCAPPED Ben White and Ben Godfrey have been named in England’s provisional Euro 2020 squad – but Eric Dier has been axed after a dismal season with Tottenham.
Brighton defender White and Everton’s Godfrey are part of a 33-man group chosen by boss Gareth Southgate, but Dier is the biggest casualty.
Jesse Lingard, Jude Bellingham and Mason Greenwood will all report for duty this weekend but there is no place for Southampton striker Danny Ings.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been included as one of four right-backs, and in goal Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale will also train with the senior squad with Nick Pope missing out through injury.
Southgate has also drafted Jordan Henderson in despite not playing for three months, and Kalvin Phillips is fit to link up despite injuring his shoulder in the final game of the season for Leeds.
Leicester City star James Maddison has also missed out despite his stunning form for the FA Cup winners.
