    THE MISSING WINK
Man Utd are lining up a shock move for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, according to reports.
The Spurs outcast started just nine Premier League games for the Lilywhites last season as he found himself out of favour under Jose Mourinho.
And now Man Utd are said to be considering a surprising move for the former England international.
Stretty News are claiming that Tottenham are open to a £25million offer for Winks and that the Red Devils are assessing the option.
However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is notoriously tough to strike a deal with in the transfer market so the North London club may well hold out for a bigger offer.
Winks came through the youth set-up at Spurs having signed for them as a young boy.
    FIT FOR A KING
Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Kingsley Coman after reports his contract talks with Bayern Munich have stalled.
The 24-year-old has two years left on his current deal, with the German giants trying to tie him down to a new contract.
But Sport1 are now reporting that those contract discussions between Bayern and Coman’s father have hit a roadblock.
Meanwhile, Man Utd are reportedly willing to offer Coman £200,000 per week AFTER tax.
The Red Devils have apparently ‘indicated’ to the Frenchman they are willing to meet his demands – and make him their joint fifth top earner.
But there is no guarantee of a quick transfer as Bayern are in no rush to make a decision on his future.
And the Bundesliga champions will be able to demand a hefty fee with Transfermarkt valuing him at £58.5million.
Kingsley Coman could be set for a move to England if he cannot agree a new contract with Bayern
    MAGUIRE UPDATE
Manchester United ace Harry Maguire has been training on his own ahead of tomorrow’s friendly match with Romania.
England have stated that the reason behind it is to “manage load”.
But Maguire has also been training alone due to his recent ankle injury.
Tottenham superstar Harry Kane and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka have also been doing the same by undergoing a different fitness routine indoors

    MANCHESTER TRIP
Atletico Madrid ace Kieran Trippier is looking at houses in the north-west of England.
Trippier has been linked with a £10million move to Manchester United this summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, the right-back has been seen trying to find a new house near Old Trafford.
However, the England international may simply be looking to buy a property in the area because he’s originally from Bury, a town in Greater Manchester.
    SANCHO SITUATION
Manchester United are becoming increasingly confident of landing Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho in the summer.
According to The Athletic, United continue their pursuit to sign Sancho and negotiations have begun with the star winger.
The England international has a “gentlemen’s agreement” to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer if their terms are met.
The 21-year-old is currently focused on Euro 2020 with his England team-mates
    IT’S RON
Cristiano Ronaldo is in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a summer move.
That is according to AS, who report that Ronaldo has “welcomed” the approach.
The star forward’s future at Juventus has cast major doubt following a hapless season that saw the Bianconeri giving away their Serie A crown to Inter Milan.
The 36-year-old has also been linked with a Manchester United comeback
    VARANE UPDATE
Manchester United are facing a significant hurdle in their bid to sign Real Madrid star Raphael Varane in the summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, Real want significantly more than their reported £35million release clause for Varane.
That is despite the fact the star centre-back only has one year left on his current contract.
United are looking for a new defender to partner up with Harry Maguire at the back

    KEEP OLE OF THEM
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned the club’s hierarchy that they will need to hold on to their best players if they want to win trophies.
Solskjaer told TV2: “We want the best players here, and the club knows what I want.
“I do not know how the dialogue goes, but if we are to fight for the best trophies, we must have the best players.”
Solskjaer has thus hinted that players like Paul Pogba need to stay
    ZEK IT OUT
Lille ace Zeki Celik has been linked with a move to Manchester United after a title-winning campaign in France.
Celik played quite a role in his team’s shock Ligue 1 triumph as he registered 29 appearances in the league.
However, the right-back has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.
The £13million-rated defender is set to compete in Euro 2020 for Turkey
    CAVANI FAMILY GROWS
Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has become a father once more.
Cavani shared a picture of his newborn child on social media and United congratulated their striker.
This comes at a special time for the Uruguay international as he was just awarded with a new contract at Old Trafford.

    MORE FROM GLAZER
Manchester United’s executive co-chairman Joel Glazer has outlined his plans to better the board’s relationship with the fans after the European Super League fiasco.
Glazer said: “Fans are the lifeblood of Manchester United.
“I am committed to ensuring they are given an enhanced voice, through the creation of a Fan Advisory Board and Fan Share Scheme.
“The club has been in discussions with the Manchester United Supporters Trust for a number of months and has sought legal advice on options”

    SPLASH THE CASH
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may splash £140million on new players, such as Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, this summer.
United’s executive co-chairman Joel Glazer said: “We will invest in our academy and the transfer market to support the manager in an effort to meet the club’s goals.”
Glazer also opened up on his plans to upgrade Old Trafford, as well as their training ground.
And after angering fans with the European Super League fiasco, he insisted: “Fans are the lifeblood of Manchester United”
    SANCHO BOOST
Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Jadon Sancho are “cautiously optimistic” a deal can be done.
That is according to Sky Sports, who claim that discussions over Sancho’s transfer are focused around Dortmund’s asking price.
But the Bundesliga giants are expected to ask for a fee significantly lower than the England international’s previous £108million release clause.
Dortmund’s conditions haven’t been made public but if any club meets them then they won’t stand in the 21-year-old’s way
    KOUNDE RACE
Manchester United have been joined by Barcelona and Real Madrid in the transfer race for highly-rated Sevilla star Jules Kounde.
Kounde has also been linked with Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal in recent months.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca have been monitoring the centre-back for two years.
Real are also thought to be keeping a close eye on the France international as they may need to replace Raphael Varane
    GONCALVES WAR
Manchester United and Liverpool are prepared to go to war over Sporting Lisbon ace Pedro Goncalves.
According to Record, Goncalves is close to signing a new deal with Sporting that will see his wages increasing.
However, the attacking midfielder’s £52million release clause will stay the same.
The Portugal international amassed 23 goals and five assists in 37 appearances across all competitions this season
    SAUL SEARCHING
Manchester United are likely to face a bidding war for Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez.
United have been linked with Saul amid the ongoing summer transfer window.
However, the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on the star midfielder.
According to Marca, Atletico need to sell players if they are to make top signings this summer due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Matteo Moretto and Marca report that the Spain international has a release clause of €150million [£128m] but the Spanish champions are willing to let him go for a lot less

    VARANE OUR MAN
Rafael Varane has been offered one final contract deal with Real Madrid, as the France defender weighs up a move to Manchester United.
United hope the World Cup winner and four-time Champions League winner will give them the green light to weigh in with an offer to Real for a move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have long been looking for a top class partner for Harry Maguire with Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly failing to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And Varane, 29, is seen as a top-class, experienced star that can make a big difference to United’s defensive stability as they bid to close the gap on champions Manchester City.
    EXCLUSIVE
Harry Maguire says missing Manchester United’s run-in was even tougher to take because he was in the form of his life.
The Old Trafford skipper is fighting to be fit for England at the Euros but is certain to miss the opener against Croatia on June 13.
Maguire, 28, said: “Myself and the United team had a really bad start. We did not get a good pre-season and started the season really slowly but we soon improved.
“At the time of the injury, I had been playing the best football of my career.
“I had been really happy with my game for a few months. I was playing with a lot of confidence and belief.
“My fitness levels before the injury were really good. I was playing week in, week out and that had put me in a really good place in terms of my defending and when I had possession.
“I have to remember that feeling when I was playing well and must work hard to be fit and be ready to go again and continue where I left off.”
    MORNING MAN UTD FANS
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can splash £140million on new players this summer – with Jadon Sancho tipped to once again be a major target.
United’s executive co-chairman Joel Glazer said: “We will invest in our academy and the transfer market to support the manager in an effort to meet the club’s goals.”
He made it clear boss Solskjaer has a big transfer kitty – with Borussia Dortmund’s England attacker Sancho fancied because of his versatility across the front line
Glazer also revealed significant plans to upgrade Old Trafford, as well as their training ground.
And after angering fans with his European Super League bid, he insisted: “Fans are the lifeblood of Manchester United.
“I am committed to ensuring they are given an enhanced voice, through the creation of a Fan Advisory Board and Fan Share Scheme.
“The club has been in discussions with the Manchester United Supporters Trust for a number of months and has sought legal advice on options.”
    MAGUIRE REVEALS INJURY AGONY
Maguire, 28, said: “Myself and the United team had a really bad start. We did not get a good pre-season and started the season really slowly but we soon improved.
“At the time of the injury, I had been playing the best football of my career.
“I had been really happy with my game for a few months. I was playing with a lot of confidence and belief.

MAGUIRE: I WAS IN FORM OF MY LIFE
Harry Maguire says missing Manchester United’s run-in was even tougher to take because he was in the form of his life.
The Old Trafford skipper is fighting to be fit for England at the Euros but is certain to miss the opener against Croatia on June 13.
Maguire was sidelined for United’s last five games – including the Europa League final loss to Villarreal – with ankle ligament damage.
It was a nightmare end to a campaign which started in turmoil following his arrest on the Greek island of Mykonos after a clash with police.
He has appealed his 21-month prison sentence, which is suspended for three years, but the retrial is unlikely to happen until 2022.
The defender suffered a difficult start to the season with United and England and was sent off in the Three Lions’ 1-0 Nations League defeat to Denmark at Wembley in October.
But he quickly regained top form to become a key man for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Meanwhile, the Singapore Grand Prix has been AXED from the 2021 calendar due to Covid.
Get all the latest F1 updates from Baku here…
    LAND BEFORE TIME
Lando Norris has been handed a three-place grid penalty for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
He will now start in ninth after being penalised for failing to pit when the red flag was shown.
Speaking before the decision was announced, Norris said: “I was in the middle, I was continuing my lap but then I didn’t really know at one point I could turn left or go right.
“I slowed down straight away, I don’t feel like I was doing anything wrong. And I was going at quite a high speed, going into that pit at that time.
“So I don’t know, I need to speak to the team, but I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.”

    TON OF PRAISE
Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton is very pleased with the result at the final practice.
Hamilton took to Twitter after the race and praised his team for the overall effort.
The British star tweeted the following:

    LECLERC REACTS
Ferrari star Charles Leclerc reacted to his second pole in a row.
Leclerc said: “It was quite a s*** lap I thought! There were like two or three corners where I did mistakes, but of course I had the big tow from Lewis in the last sector which helped me a little bit.
“But overall I think we would have been there or thereabouts for pole without the slipstream, so it’s a good day.
“I did not expect to be as competitive as we were today. I was improving again [before] the red flag but it’s like this, another pole, and I’m happy anyway”
    GETTY IMAGES
    HAMILTON REACTS
Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton is very pleased with today’s result.
Hamilton said: “We definitely weren’t expecting that and this is such a monumental result for us because we’ve been struggling like you couldn’t believe all weekend. You can see it.
“We kept our composure. We’ve continued to have difficult discussions in the background and challenging one another, and just never taking no for an answer. We’ve moved around, made so many changes, over these two days. Just chasing our tail and it’s been so difficult.
“But the work overnight and particularly between the sessions was amazing from the team and really proud of everyone for keeping positive. To be up there and so close to these guys is a great start.
“It has been the biggest challenge in a long time. It has been a bit of a disaster”
    THE GRID FOR THE RACE
    1 Leclerc; 2 Hamilton; 3 Verstappen; 4 Gasly; 5 Sainz; 6 Norris; 7 Perez; 8 Tsunoda; 9 Alonso; 10 Bottas
HUGE DRAMA – RED FLAG – SESSION STOPPED
Leclerc is on pole as Sainz and Tsunoda crash out on track.
It is Turn 15 again. Tsunoda loses it and then Sainz slams into the barriers
Wow. That’s the fourth red flag in qualifying.
Hamilton will line up in P2 and Verstappen in P3. Gasly in P4.
    Wow. Incredible stuff.
    STONKING LAP FROM GASLY
The Frenchman goes into the top four with a mega lap.
    HAMILTON TAKES PROVISIONAL P2
Bottas punches the hole in the air, as Hamilton sits in the slipstream and gets on the front row.
His time is good enough for P2 behind Leclerc, who was 0.232 seconds quicker.
    Five minutes to go.
    FERRARI ARE FLYING
The two boys in red are blasting their way around the track as Leclerc and Sainz set the early pace.
Q3 IS GO – THE SHOOT OUT FOR TOP 10
Is this going to be a Red Bull lockout? Or can Hamilton fight back?
    BIG BLOW FOR RICCIARDO
It is just not clicking for him at McLaren just yet. Surely his luck has to change soon.

RICCIARDO HAS CRASHED – RED FLAG – END OF Q2
The McLaren man has locked up and crashed into Turn Three. He is out of qualifying.
His accident means the session is red-flagged and means that Vettel and Ocon miss out on getting into Q3.
Russell, Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Ocon and Vettel are out in Q2. Vettel extremely disappointed to miss out.

VERSTAPPEN LEADS PEREZ. HAMILTON IN P3
It looks as though Hamilton has discovered some performance in his Mercedes. Less so for Bottas, who is in P9.
    FIVE MINUTES TO GO
Russell, Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Tsunoda and Ocon in the drop zone.
HERE IS THE INCIDENT INVOLVING NORRIS

BUSY TRACK – MISTAKES ARE COSTLY IN BAKU
We have had two red flags already. The record for qualifying is four. We are halfway there.

    Q2 IS GO
Can Mercedes make it into the top 10? They should do, but accidents could pay their part.
    Q1 IS DONE
Stroll, Giovinnazi, Mazepin, Schumacher and Latifi are out at the first hurdle.
Hamilton eventually tops the session, but it was a scrappy one. Norris also under investigation for missing the pitlane when the red flag was deployed.
    IN THE DROP ZONE
Schumacher, Mazepin and Russell. Stroll and Giovinazzi are already out.
    Four minutes to go.
RESTART AS Q1 IS GO AGAIN AFTER TWO RED FLAGS
Nine minutes to go of this session. The wind has picked up now and it is going to tough to get those quick laps in.
RED FLAG – ANTONIO GIOVINAZZI HAS CRASHED
The Alfa Romeo man is in the wall at Turn 15. This spot is catching lots of drivers out.
He is OUT of qualifying. The session is stopped again.
    WE ARE QUALIFYING AGAIN
A busy track as drivers look not to get caught out by another red flag.
LANCE STROLL HAS A CRASH – RED FLAG
The Canadian hits the wall at turn 15. He went in too fast and he has broken his front right wheel.
He is out of qualifying. His Aston Martin is broken. It also means all the other drivers have to abort their flying laps.
Stroll apologises to his team over the radio and will start tomorrow’s race in last place.
GO GO GO. GREEN LIGHT FOR QUALIFYING FOR THE AZERBAIJAN GP
Will this be a Red Bull lock out? Or will Ferrari keep up their pace from Monaco?
Mercedes are on the back foot, it could be a tough session in Baku for Hamilton and Bottas.
Expect plenty of drama and yellow flags, this is going to be a busy qualifying session.
TOTO WOLFF LASHES OUT AT CHRISTIAN HORNER
The Mercedes boss is feeling the heat and blasted the Red Bull man after Horner said Wolff should “keep his mouth shut” over the flexi-wing row.
Wolff has responded saying: “Christian is a bit of a windbag who wants to be on camera.
“It is easy to be punchy when you are on top of the timesheets but you should be a little bit more modest.”

Brazil vs Ecuador LIVE: Stream, TV channel, score and teams for World Cup qualifier

BRAZIL are up against Ecuador in a 2022 World Cup qualifying game ahead of their Copa America campaign this summer. Argentina and Colombia pulled out of hosting the tournament because of problems with Covid, leaving Brazil to step in and save the day, making them even bigger favourites to win it all.
However, the tournament in Brazil could also be a doubt, with the Europe-based players in Tite’s squad considering a boycott.

Brazil vs Ecuador kicks off at 1.30am UK time in the early hours of Saturday, June 5.
Brazil vs Ecuador will be shown live on Premier Sports.
You can subscribe to Premier Sports for £11.99 a month by clicking HERE.
The game is available for live streaming from the Premier Player, which can be downloaded onto your mobile or tablet device.

    MATCH REPORT
Richarlison rode to Brazil’s rescue to sink Ecuador before a late penalty farce.
The Everton striker, 24, fired Tite’s men to a fifth straight World Cup qualifying victory when they looked like being shut out.
Brazil were lacklustre all night in their first game for seven months after March’s fixtures were cancelled due to Covid travel problems.
But Richarlison’s left-foot rocket sent them on their way to three points and moved them four clear of second-placed Argentina.
Neymar added a late second from the spot after a dubious VAR call and an even more controversial decision to retake.
Gabriel Jesus was initially adjudged to have fouled Angelo Preciado, but replays showed the foul was on the Man City man.
PSG striker Neymar stepped up but his awful spot-kick was easily saved by goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez.
But the Ecuador stopper was inches off his line, if that, and Neymar was given another chance to convert.
Dominguez was shown a yellow card for his furious protests and Neymar slotted home at the second attempt to breathe a sigh of relief.
Tite’s men stayed on course to reach Qatar 2022 amid a backdrop of Copa America chaos with the tournament due to start next week in major doubt.
Brazilian players are reportedly ready to boycott the event that was moved to their country from Argentina and Colombia at just two weeks’ notice.

    ON THE HORIZON
There’s another round of qualifiers in South America to come before the Copa America.
Here’s what’s on the menu for Tuesday night into Wednesday (UK times)…
    .
    THE TABLE
Here’s what that result does to the standings.
Brazil are four points clear after five wins from five.

    NEYM OF THE GAME
    Here’s the second goal again.
Neymar very lucky to be given another chance there after an awful spot-kick.
Neymar with a horrendous miss from the penalty spot…BUT he gets to retake it as play is called back for the keeper’s foot being just off the line! 😱Brazil’s No. 10 converted at the second time of asking for his 65th goal for his country, and he’s now just 12 behind Pele 👀 pic.twitter.com/vlTHYtMVsu— Premier Sports 📺 (@PremierSportsTV) June 5, 2021

    FT: BRAZIL 2-0 ECUADOR
Brazil get the win in the end. It’s five from five in World Cup qualifying for them and they’re well on their way to Qatar 2022.
But that was a bit of a mess at the end.
Richarlison and Neymar with the goals – Brazil get the three points.
    GOALLLLLLLLL!!!!
And this time he scores. Sends the goalkeeper the wrong way.
2-0 to Brazil. That is harsh on Ecuador.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
    90, It’s a retake. This is a bit of a farce.
Dominguez was off his line apparently. It was mighty close but it didn’t really matter, he gained nothing from being two inches off his line as the penalty was so poor.
The goalkeeper is booked for his protests.
    SAVEDDDD!!!!
Awful penalty from Neymar. Low and nowhere near the corner.
    Dominguez saved it easily.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
    88, PENALTY BRAZIL!
The referee gave it the other way at first for a foul on Jesus, but he’s overturned his decision.
    Jesus was caught by Preciado.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
    86, We have a VAR check for a penalty…
It was for a challenge from Angelo Preciado on Gabriel Jesus.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
83, The sting looks to have gone out of Ecuador now.
Brazil are still pushing for this second goal but not with any great urgency.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
76, Here comes Firmino, that was Barbosa’s last act.
This game has suddenly come to life.
    .Credit: Reuters
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
75, How have Brazil not scored there? What on earth is the goalkeeper doing? Is this the same game I was watching for an hour?
Dominguez came charge off his line and was beaten to it by Richarlison.
The Everton forward just got his cross in before the ball went out and Barbosa launched himself at it.
But, with an open net gaping, he glanced it wide of the far post.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
73, Yellow card for Eder Militao. The fifth of the night.
A cynical attempt to stop an Ecuador counter-attack as he brings down Angelo Preciado.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
73, CHANCE for Barbosa… saved by Dominguez.
Really good work by Jesus and Barbosa to create the opening and Barbosa tried to slide it into the far corner.
Dominguez saved it with his outstretched right boot.
    Chances coming freely now.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
72, Jesus cuts inside from the left flank and fires in a shot.
It’s saved at the near post by Dominguez.
Good stuff from the Man City striker.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
70, Marquinhos searching for Brazil’s second… but his header goes sailing over.
    Here’s the Richarlison goal…
Richarlison fires Brazil in front! 🔥It’s taken Brazil over an hour to find a way through against Ecuador, but they’ve finally done it 🇧🇷 pic.twitter.com/zyZjml5iCR— Premier Sports 📺 (@PremierSportsTV) June 5, 2021

    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
68, Reckless challenge on Jesus by Ayrton Preciado and he’s into the book as well.
Ecuador just losing it a touch now.
    BRAZIL 1-0 ECUADOR
64, And finally we have a goal.
Neymar slid in Richarlison and the Everton man fired it in hard and low.
Too much power on that shot and Dominguez can’t keep it out at his near post.
    Brazil lead.
    GOALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!
Richarlison makes the breakthrough. 1-0 to Brazil!
    BRAZIL 0-0 ECUADOR
64, Shot from Neymar… held by Dominguez.
Tough chance that for the PSG man, on the turn and off balance from the edge of the area as it ricocheted his way off Richarlison.
    Better from Brazil.
    BRAZIL 0-0 ECUADOR
62, And a change for Brazil.
Fred is off and on comes Gabriel Jesus.
Man Utd man Fred was lucky to escape a second yellow card moments earlier.
More attacking impetus for Brazil now… maybe.
    BRAZIL 0-0 ECUADOR
60, An hour gone. Probably one of the least memorable hours of football I’ve seen.
Surely time for some changes soon for Brazil? Firmino, Gabriel Jesus and Vinicius Jr all on the bench and eager to make a difference.
    BRAZIL 0-0 ECUADOR
57, Pinball in the Brazil penalty area from a corner leads to a shot from Angelo Preciado.
But he blazes it over from 15 yards. High, wide and not very handsome.
    .Credit: AFP
    BRAZIL 0-0 ECUADOR
55, Enner Valencia goes into the book.
A foul on Danilo and the referee shows him a yellow card.
The third booking of the game. More cards than chances.

    FULL PREM RELEASE LIST
Big names could be on their way out this summer – after Premier League clubs revealed their released list.
    Here’s our FULL GUIDE.
    MOURINHO’S GUIDE TO EACH TEAM
New SunSport columnist Jose Mourinho has given his expert rundown on all the contenders at this summer’s Euros.
Click HERE to read his detailed analysis.

JOSE: SPURS DROUGHT CAN FIRE UP HARRY
Jose Mourinho has backed Harry Kane to use his Tottenham trophy drought to fire him up for the Euros.
Despite his fine goalscoring form, England skipper Kane has endured another frustrating trophy-less season with Spurs – and is eyeing a move away this summer.
But old boss Mourinho believes the striker’s pain will stand him in good stead to lead the Three Lions on home turf.
Mourinho said: “Harry (Kane) is the one that has on his shoulders a lot.
“The country expects a lot from him. He expects a lot from himself.
“He’s the captain and he wants to win something. He’s not doing that with the club, so, of course, he’s going to try everything he can to do it with the Three Lions.”
    SPAIN 0 PORTUGAL 0
Cristiano Ronaldo was booed at every touch to prove he is still the main man at the Euros.
Portugal’s stellar captain is poised to play in a record fifth championship.
The three Group F games alone will give him the most appearances at the tournament with 59 – which includes qualifying.
Now 36, Ronaldo is still leading the line for his country who kick off the defence of their Euro 2016 title against Hungary on June 15.
But the normally lethal finisher will have to wait for his 104th international goal after missing a sitter against local rivals Spain in a warm up.
Frustrated Ronaldo was unmarked but sent a header wide of the post from a 69th minute free kick.
Liverpool’s Diogo Jota also missed a golden chance to score with a diving header that flew over the crossbar in the second half.
Manchester City’s Ferran Torres also headed wide in the 28th minute at the back post when unmarked.
But ex-Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata was most guilty as he fluffed a series of opportunities to give Spain a winning warm up in a lively match which was overseen by Premier League ref Craig Pawson.
    EU CAN WIN AT HOME
PAUL INCE knows exactly what a strong England performance at a major tournament can do for public morale.
The former Manchester United star was the lynchpin of England’s midfield when they reached the semi-finals of Euro ’96, losing an agonising penalty shoot-out to the Germans.
Speaking at the launch of the Paddy Park at Flat Iron Square in London, Ince remembered what it was like to play in a home tournament.
He told SunSport: “We’d not had a tournament for 30 years – since [the World Cup in 1966] – and that’s a long time.
“Everyone was ready for it, the sun was shining and songs were coming out.
“It was just an iconic time. The positivity that was coming out of our nation, not just football fans but people in general.
“It brought togetherness and the more games we won the more everyone got excited.
“It [Euro ’96] did so much for our country – and this is what these players can do. We’ve had such a bad, horrendous time with the pandemic. We need to have a smile on our faces… The players know that.”
    FINALISTS ARRIVE
All seven England stars that featured in the Champions League final last week have reported for training ahead of Sunday’s friendly against Romania.
The Chelsea and Manchester City players were given extra time off to be with their families following the clash which was won by the Blues.

Chelsea heroes Mason Mount, Ben Chilwell and Reece James started in Portugal, where they squared off against the Citizens’ John Stones, Kyle Walker, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling.
But all players will be looking to put their rivalry behind them as they gear up for the start of Euro 2020 next week.
And the late arrivals to the camp looked to be in a chipper mood with all men in contention to feature against Romania at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium.
Boss Gareth Southgate will be delighted to see them link up with the rest of his squad following the news that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the tournament.
The Liverpool right-back went off late on against Austria on Wednesday with a thigh injury that will see him ruled out for six weeks.
TALKS TO EASE FAN LIMITS IN KO STAGES
Uefa are reportedly in discussion with the UK government over easing fan limits for the the Euro 2020 knockout stages.
Sky Sports say the talks focus on reducing coronavirus quarantine restrictions on overseas supporters.
MBAPPE’S REAL WARNING AS A KID
PSG striker Kylian Mbappe has revealed his parents talked him out of moving abroad when he was 14.
The French striker has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer after an impressive season in Ligue 1.
Speaking to L’Obs, Mbappe said: “My parents wanted me to start my career in France, to be educated in France.
“To play football, but also to continue my education. To go to Spain, even if it was with Zidane, it was another country, another culture.”
And according to Spanish newspaper Marca, Real were the club that wanted to take Mbappe from his native France.
The news comes after ex-Chelsea scout Daniel Boga revealed the Blues turned down the chance to sign the striker in 2012.
The 22-year-old also discussed his future, telling the French magazine: “I always want to set myself challenges, because that allows you not to relax.
“Being on the pitch feeds me, it’s how I recharge. Thanks to that, I have the energy to face the other aspects of football.”
    CITY’S SUPER SIX
Manchester City have an incredible SIX players in the PFA Team of the Year for 2020-21 – but none of them are forwards.
Pep Guardiola’s side stormed to the Premier League title, winning their third crown in four years.

But the Etihad chief is fully aware he needs to sign an elite striker this season – and the PFA XI conclusively proves that.
The Team of the Year is packed with City stars, including FOUR of the back-five, including the goalkeeper.
Ederson is joined by Joao Cancelo, John Stones and Ruben Dias in defence – with Manchester United ace Luke Shaw the only non-City star in the back-line.
The midfield is an all-Manchester affair too, with Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan partnering Bruno Fernandes in an attacking trio.
But in attack, there are no City – or United – players on show.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah teams up with Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in an exciting front three.

    AMAZING SNAPS OF YOUNG RONALDO
AS he looked through the lens of a camera that was taking a snap to complete his first registration card for the FA of Funchal, even Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t have expected this would be the start of a glorious football career.
Aged just seven, a young CR7 looks a far-cry from the pristinely presented football god we know today, now 36 and set to lead Portugal’s forward line at Euro 2020.
The boy Ronaldo, with his bushy hair and awkward smile, could only have dreamed of being a Ballon d’Or-winner then – a feat he has achieved five times so far.
But it set the tone for the man who would go on to become a legend for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Portugal.

    TRENT ‘GUTTED’
Trent Alexander-Arnold has posted on Instagram that he is ‘absolutely gutted’ to be out of Euro 2020.
Having fought so hard to get back into the England squad, the Liverpool defender is out for six weeks after tearing a muscle in the friendly against Austria.

KANE URGED TO MAKE SPAIN MOVE
Gary Lineker has admitted he would like to see Harry Kane follow in his footsteps and sign for Barcelona.
A host of English clubs are chasing the Tottenham man but fellow ex-Spurs striker Lineker would be interested to see him move abroad.
He told Goal: “I would love to see him at Barcelona but they are going for Aguero and are short on cash at the moment.
“I think it is between Manchester City, Manchester United and maybe PSG.
“They have [Mauricio] Pochettino and he would win things, guaranteed.
“I think it is more likely that one of the Manchester clubs can afford him outside of Chelsea. I don’t think he would go to Chelsea and do that to the Tottenham fans but who knows?”

    TRENT KO
Trent Alexander-Arnold has received countless messages wishing him well after being ruled out of Euro 2020.

    EXCLUSIVE
Ed Sheeran is finally making a music comeback by unveiling his latest song at a huge gig, I can exclusively reveal, writes Simon Boyle.
The superstar, who has been on hiatus for 18 months, has signed up to play at TikTok’s UEFA Euro 2020 Show this month at the grounds of his beloved Ipswich Town.
And fans worried they won’t be able to get tickets to the show at Portman Road needn’t worry, as it will be free to stream.
The TikTok concert comes after I revealed Ed had signed a deal to become the face of the video app.
An insider said: “Ed’s major deal was all linked up to this gig — and its going to be amazing. The venue holds a very special place in Ed’s heart.
“As well as singing some of his classic songs, he will be performing his as-yet-unheard single for the first time ever. Ed has kept details of the track, including the name, under wraps but fans are in for a real treat.”
The show takes place at 9pm on Friday, June 25 — and fans can watch it live for free simply by downloading the TikTok app.

    MUNICH CALLING
Bavaria state officials have given the green light for Munich’s Allianz Arena to host 14,000 spectators during Euro 2020.
Uefa had demanded venues allow at least some fans into matches despite the coronavirus pandemic.
And  Bavaria’s state premier Markus Soeder has now confirmed: “With a strict sanitary protocol, tests and masks, the stadium will be allowed to fill up to 20 percent capacity, or about 14,000 spectators.”
Germany’s three group games will take place at the stadium, against France, Portugal and Hungary, before the city hosts a quarter-final.
    YAN THE MAN
Yannick Carrasco gatecrashed Eden Hazard’s interview just to troll him about the 2020-21 LaLiga title race.
The pair are currently on Belgium duty as they prepare for this summer’s European Championship.
But despite kicking off a long summer as team-mates, with Roberto Martinez’s men chasing a first-ever major tournament win, Atletico Madrid star Carrasco couldn’t resist poking fun of his pal.
And as Real Madrid’s Hazard sat down for a televised interview, Carrasco stormed the set, got right up in his face and chanted: “Campeones, campeones, ole, ole, ole…”
Clearly a bit miffed, the Real Madrid star recoiled and eventually forced a smile – but his furious eyes gave away his real feelings.
Flipping from French to Spanish, Hazard begrudgingly mumbled: “Very good, very good. Congratulations, friend, incredible.”

    EVENING ENTERTAINMENT
Lots of footy to keep you interested if you’re staying in this Friday night.
Portugal host Spain for a fascinating pre-Euros friendly (6.30pm) Italy take on Czech Republic at 7.45pm.
Group B minnows Finland are in action versus Estonia at 5pm while Cameroon face Nigeria in Vienna (7.30pm).
And Wales’ Under-21s face Moldova in a European qualifier at 7.30pm.
    TAA REACTION
Trent Alexander-Arnold has posted on Instagram that he is ‘absolutely gutted’ to be out of Euro 2020.
Having fought so hard to get back into the England squad, the Liverpool defender is out for six weeks after tearing a muscle in the friendly against Austria.

    CRAZY CROAT
Marcelo Brozovic is preparing to fire Croatia to success against England and Scotland in Group D.
How is the Inter Milan midfielder preparing for the Euros? A spot of tree climbing. Because, obviously…

    CILLESSEN FURY
Jasper Cillessen has hit out at Netherlands boss Frank de Boer after he dropped the Valencia goalkeeper from his Euro 2020 squad following a positive Covid test.
He told De Telegraaf: “De Boer knew then that I had tested positive. He then said in Portugal on Sunday that I would join the group immediately if the result of my daily rapid test was negative.
“If necessary, I would only join after the training camp. I really have no idea what has changed.
“The rules allow substitutes for goalkeepers during the tournament and there was still plenty of time.
“I had Covid symptoms for a day, but otherwise zero problems. And then they say I’m not fit? The national coach and I will never agree on that.
“I have never felt so powerless, angry, and terrible.”
    WAN TO WATCH
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has spoken of how he can improve after missing out on England’s Euro 2020 squad.
The Three Lions’ embarrassment of right-back riches has made the Manchester United defender to wait for his chance.
He told the club website: “Every game, every step, that’s how I take it, to improve and push myself throughout.
“I feel I’ve done okay. I can feel it in myself, the confidence and excitement of when every game comes up. You want to play, you can’t wait to get the game started. You know what the team’s capable of, the performances we can all put together to get the result we want.”
“My goal was a good feeling. I’ll never forget that. That’s the good moment out of this campaign, for me.”

    DUFF PREDICTION
Former Ireland winger Damien Duff has outlined how England could be heading out of Euro 2020 in quick fashion.
Tipping France to win the tournament, the ex-Chelsea star told RTE: “They play Croatia first. Croatia could do them.
“And Scotland – close to my heart – Scotland could put England out in the second game. They’ve a good solid squad. They’ve a lot of Celtic players who are really well coached, top players.
“The Scots are not going to go and take the game to teams, they’re going to sit back and frustrate.
“They’ll do that with England. Maybe, I’m a dreamer but the second game, England could be out and Scotland could go through.”

“I think we took 10 minutes or so to get going, as we hadn’t seen each other for a long time, but I did hope we’d put in a performance like this.
“We know that this is a young team that has to improve in many ways, but playing the last friendly before the tournament like this can only be positive.
“We are an attack-minded team and have to push forward, then defend when needs be with the qualities we have. Balance is important. We’re together, we’re happy and hopefully this competition will last as long as possible”
