ENGLAND saw off Romania at the Riverside Stadium thanks to Marcus Rashford’s second half penalty. It was an underwhelming display from the Three Lions, with Jordan Henderson missing another spot-kick late on.

England head to the Euros with two 1-0 friendly wins under their belts.
The Three Lions weren’t particularly convincing in either game and there’s plenty to ponder for Gareth Southgate ahead of Sunday’s clash with World Cup finalists Croatia.
Is football coming home? We’ll soon find out!

    SOUTHGATE’S VERDICT
England boss Gareth Southgate has given his thoughts on the 1-0 win to ITV Sport.
He said: “We had chances to make it more comfortable. First half we didn’t work hard enough without the ball. We were too stretched.
“After half-time we improved, and it was helpful when we went to 4-3-3 later.
“It was a good exercise. We learned a lot. Good to win, a lot to get better at.
“He [Jack Grealish] had an important contribution to win the penalty and he’s in the frame with a lot of others. We’ve got a lot of competition in those areas of the field.”

Not the most convincing win, but a win for England nonetheless. With just a week to until their first game of Euro 2020 against Croatia, how do you rate their chances in the tournament?

    RASH REACTION
Marcus Rashford was a happy man after scoring the winning goal on the same evening he captained his country. He also praised Jack Grealish’s display.
He told ITV: “It’s a great moment for me. It’s something you dream of doing when you’re a kid.
“The game was a difficult one. We had to work hard and stick together. It was challenging.
“We created a lot of chances, we were good from set-plays, both attacking and defensively.
“He [Grealish] is a great player. He’ll grow and grow in an England shirt. We know what he can do. it’s just about allowing him to reach that potential. We’ll win more games with him in the team.
“We have to have that self-belief and self-confidence. But we have to improve if we’re to win the tournament.”

    FT: ENGLAND 1-0 ROMANIA
Not really the performance England wanted from their final friendly ahead of the Euros, but there’s no way that will be Gareth Southgate’s starting XI next weekend.
Jack Grealish surely has to be in from the off against Croatia after a dazzling display here. The Aston Villa man caused the Romania defence all sorts of problems and won the penalty which Marcus Rashford converted for the winner.
Jordan Henderson made his return from injury but missed a spot-kick of his own as England unconvincingly secured the win.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!THE FINAL WHISTLE GOES!

    90. Ben White leaves a cross and Johnstone has to palm it away. Nervy moments for England.

    86. Watkins stabs wide at the far post as Godfrey flicks on a corner. At the other end, Ivan nearly connects with a swirling delivery from Budescu. Johnstone has been solid on his England debut.
    ENGLAND 1-0 ROMANIA
    82. How has that not gone in? Watkins clips a cross to the far post. It’s met by Bellingham but his header from two yards out hits the leg of Chiriches and lands on the roof of the net.
    ENGLAND 1-0 ROMANIA
    80. Henderson tees up Calvert-Lewin but his driven effort is saved by the legs of Nita. That’s the Everton striker’s final involvement as he makes way for Ollie Watkins.
    SAVED!
    ENGLAND 1-0 ROMANIA
    79. Henderson’s spot-kick isn’t the best and it’s palmed away by Nita, diving to his right.

    75. More changes for England as Shaw and Rashford trot off for Kieran Trippier and and Jesse Lingard.
    ENGLAND 1-0 ROMANIA
    74. What a save by Johnstone to deny Ivan. The Romania player was only a few yards out but Johnstone flung himself to his right to keep the shot out. Brilliant.

England are ahead as Marcus Rashford converts the penalty won by Jack Grealish, but did the ref make the right call?

    ENGLAND 1-0 ROMANIA
    68. Rashford takes a short run-up but slots home to the keeper’s left. Finally we have a goal.

    GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL ENGLAND!

    66. Grealish goes down under a challenge from Capusa who had only been on the pitch for mere seconds. Rashford will take the spot-kick…
    PENALTY TO ENGLAND!
    ENGLAND 0-0 ROMANIA
    65. Double change for England as Ward-Prowse and Sancho are replaced by Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham. It means a change of formation to 4-3-3 for England as Rashford moves over to the right and Grealish to the left.
    ENGLAND 0-0 ROMANIA
    62. Better from England as Rashford runs from the halfway line but sends his shot wide.
    ENGLAND 0-0 ROMANIA
    61. Good to see this man back in an England shirt, but question marks will remain over his match fitness.

He is one of a few guaranteed to start next Monday in the opener.
Bring it on! It’s not a problem — that’s the way football is. I’m looking forward to it and it’s exciting, for sure. You have to thrive on the pressure, it’s part and parcel of the game. You don’t play football to have easy games, you want the intense ones with all the pressure on your shoulders.Confidence can come from a lot of different things. It can be down to your upbringing, the way you were brought up by your family. You can’t look at it as being too much pressure. Once it becomes like that, you might as well stop.Scott McTominay

    Nice wee ground that!

LUXEMBOURG V SCOTLAND – THE FINAL CHANCE
THE Euros are just around the corner now and Steve Clarke has one last game to prepare his squad for the tournament.
Scotland travel to Luxembourg after a very promising performance against Netherlands on Wednesday.
It’ll be a couple of days off after this game before they gather at the training base at Rockliffe Hall in Middlesbrough for the duration of Euro 2020.
With seven players missing from that Netherlands game, there will be changes for this game as Clarke gets a look at his squad.
Che Adams, Grant Hanley, David Marshall, John McGinn, Stephen O’Donnell and Nathan Patterson were left out on precautionary grounds after being deemed to be “in the vicinity” of John Fleck, who tested positive for Covid last week, more than the rest of the squad.
Sheffield United midfielder Fleck is still KO’d but a fresh round of negative tests for the rest means Clarke is set to welcome back the other players and hand them some minutes against Luxembourg tomorrow.
Fleck isn’t reported to be showing any symptoms but needs to return two negative tests before he can be allowed to rejoin the squad properly.
Fellow midfielder Callum McGregor has revealed the rest of the Scotland boys have been trying to keep Fleck occupied and a part of the group whilst confined to his room in self-isolation.
The Hoops ace said the players have been in regular contact with Fleck – but only via text or conversations with Fleck on his balcony.
McGregor said: “We’ve tried to keep in touch with him via texts and the boys have been shouting up at his balcony.
“It’s difficult for John. He’s going to be in that room for a wee while. We try to keep him included and we hope he can rejoin the group soonish.”

    NETHERLANDS 0-0 GEORGIA
5 Georgia started strong but the Netherlands are now dominating possession and tempo.
Lots of work going on in midfield with De Jong and Wijnaldum.
However, the attack often has to push back and cover their midfielders
    NETHERLANDS 0-0 GEORGIA
    2 CHANCE!
Georgia start strong in Holland as they take the game to the Dutch!
Lobzhanidze gets the ball down the right flank and finds himself in front of Stekelenburg but his flick has no effect and so the experienced keeper picks it up with ease
    NETHERLANDS 0-0 GEORGIA
    2 Another quick reminder:
Georgia manager Willy Sagnol appears to have opted for a 3-4-3 formation with nine changes to the team that beat Romania.
Giorgi Loria starts in goal and replaces Lazare Kupatadze, while Davit Khocholava, captain Guram Kashia, who comes on for the suspended Saba Kvirkvelia, and Lasha Dvali, who replaces Georges Mikautadze, link up in defence.
Otar Kakabadze, who takes Grigol Chabradze’s place, covers the right flank with Guram Giorbelidze, on for Irakli Azarovi, on the other side.
Giorgi Aburjania and Valeriane Gvilia, who takes Levan Shengelia’s place, team up in midfield.
Saba Lobzhanidze, on for Tornike Okriashvili, Otar Kiteishvili, who replaces Zurab Davitashvili, and Budu Zivzivadze, who takes Nika Kvekveskiri’s place, lead the attack
    NETHERLANDS 0-0 GEORGIA
    1 Just a quick reminder:
Netherlands manager Frank de Boer has opted for a 5-3-2 formation made only two changes to the team that drew with Scotland on Wednesday.
Maarten Stekelenburg replaces Tim Krul in goal whereas Denzel Dumfries starts at right-back with Owen Wijndal on the other side, while Jurrien Timber, Stefan de Vrij and Daley Blind, who comes on for the injured Matthijs de Ligt, link up at centre-back.
Georginio Wijnaldum, Marten de Roon and Frenkie de Jong team up in midfield.
Wout Weghorst and Memphis Depay lead the attack
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

The Grolsch Veste Stadium is set to host the international friendly match between the Netherlands and Georgia.
The Oranje are being led out by captain Georginio Wijnaldum whereas Guram Kashia dons his nation’s armband.

    MOVE DUM-ED
Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum will be wearing the captain’s armband today against Georgia.
Some breaking news suggested that Wijnaldum has rejected a move to Barcelona and will join Paris Saint-Germain instead.
That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the midfielder will sign a three-year contract after Euro 2020 and will make more than double compared to what Barca offered.
Romano posted: “Georginio Wijnaldum has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.
“Barcelona have NO intention to raise their bid after they agreement ready by 2 weeks and medicals planned.
“Gini is now set to accept PSG proposal until 2024 with salary more than doubled [compared to Barça bid]”

    WILL-ING AND ABLE
Georgia have been experiencing quite a new lease of life under new manager Willy Sagnol.
Sagnol took over in March and helped his side put together an impressive performance against Sweden and Spain in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The former right-back then picked up a 1-1 draw with Greece and beat Romania 2-1 in a friendly match.
The Frenchman has plenty of experience at the top level as he spent nine years at Bayern Munich where he amassed a total of 277 appearances across all competitions
    GETTY IMAGES
    INFORMATION COMES TO LIGT
Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt handed the Netherlands quite a shock as he hobbled off their most recent training session due to a groin injury.
Thus, De Ligt won’t play any part in today’s friendly against Georgia and further tests are expected to take place ahead of Euro 2020.
There are, however, concerns among the Holland camp about the star centre-back’s fitness ahead of the summer’s European championships.
The Oranje are already going to be without their best defender Virgil van Dijk, who confirmed he will miss the tournament due to anterior cruciate knee ligaments
    GETTY IMAGES
    VAN DIJK SITUATION
Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has confirmed that he will not be taking part in the summer’s delayed Euro 2020 competition.
Van Dijk has been sidelined with an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury since last October when the Reds faced Everton in the Merseyside derby.
Netherlands manager Frank de Boer was hoping to have the star centre-back available for the summer’s tournament but the 29-year-old ruled himself out.
Van Dijk said: “I have come to a decision that I had to make, would I be involved in the Euros, yes or no?
“With everything that is going on, I feel physically it is the right decision that I’ve decided not to go to the Euros and to go into my last phase of rehab during the off-season”
    GETTY IMAGES
    GEORGIA STATS
Georgia failed to make it to the summer’s delayed Euro 2020 competition after suffering a 1-0 loss to North Macedonia in their play-off final last November.
Willy Sagnol’s men didn’t manage to impress in the Nations League as they finished third in their League C group under Armenia and North Macedonia with only one win and one loss in six matches.
Georgia, though, appear to be heading towards the right direction after some strong showings against Sweden and Spain in their 2022 World Cup qualifiers, even though they lost both times, as well as their 1-1 draw against Greece.
However, they have only won one of their last six matches, against Romania, and lost three across all competitions

    NETHERLANDS STATS
The Netherlands made it through to Euro 2020’s group stages after finishing second in Group C behind Germany with six wins and only one loss in eight matches.
Holland also stood their ground in the Nations League as they remained in the top flight by finishing second in Group 1 behind Italy thanks to three wins and one loss in six matches.
The Oranje have won four of their last six matches across all competitions and only lost once to Turkey away in a recent 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Netherlands scored a staggering 18 goals along the way but conceded a concerning tally of eight

    HEAD-TO-HEAD
The two sides are set to face off for the very first time across all competitions.
This is an important friendly match that will help Netherlands manager Frank de Boer figure out what needs to be fixed before Euro 2020.
Georgia and their new manager Willy Sagnol would love to offer Holland a late shock on their Euro dress rehearsal.
But what’s important for the Oranje is to figure out the solution to all of their weaknesses as they haven’t made it to the European championship’s knockout stages since 2008

    THE TEAM SHEETS ARE IN!!!
    GOOD AFTERNOON FROM TWENTE
Welcome to our live coverage of the international friendly match between the Netherlands and Georgia at the De Grolsch Veste Stadium ahead of the summer’s delayed Euro 2020 competition.
Holland are set for their last warm-up game ahead of the European championships where they are set to take on Austria, North Macedonia and Ukraine in the group stage.
Oranje manager Frank de Boer will be without star defender Matthijs de Ligt, who suffered a groin injury during training and is set for further tests to determine his fitness ahead of the Euros.
Other than that, De Boer has a squad at full strength but is expected to make a number of changes to the line-up he fielded on Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Scotland at the Algarve.
Lyon star Memphis Depay scored twice for the Netherlands but is expected to be rested tonight, whereas Manchester United ace Donny van de Beek should start in midfield.
Ryan Gravenberch, Patrick van Aanholt, Quincy Promes and Joel Veltman could all join Van de Beek in the starting line-up and the same goes for Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong.
Georgia manager Willy Sagnol, on the other hand, will be without Lokomotiv Moscow player Saba Kverkvelia as he will serve a suspension following his red card on Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Romania.
Sagnol is also expected to make some changes by starting the likes of Saba Lobzhanidze, Guram Kashia and Budu Zivzivadze

    HERE COME THE TEAMS!
It’s the final dress rehearsal before it starts to get serious.
England are in their blue away strip, while Romania are sporting all white.
The Three Lions haven’t beaten Romania for 51 years.
Now it’s time for the national anthems.
There is a smattering of boos mixed with applause as the players take the knee.
    SOUTHGATE PRE-MATCH
Gareth Southgate has been talking to ITV ahead of today’s game…
    On his team selection
“We have players that need minutes and players that definitely don’t need more minutes. One or two players we want to look at and one or two debutants.”
On a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold
“We’re still open-minded. We have a pretty good idea. It’s a great opportunity for those players.”
On Marcus Rashford taking the captain’s armband
“He’s the most experienced international player in the team today. It’s a good opportunity for him to show some leadership and he had a big smile on his face when we told him.”
    On Jordan Henderson
“The plan would be that he gets 45 today and he can build from there.”
On the aims for the game
“Tactically, there are things we’ve worked on in the week. We want to be tighter. Some of our build-up play [against Austia] could have been better. So, there are some patterns of play we’ve talked about with the players.”
    On taking the knee
“We can’t control the response. We’re very clear on our stance. We’re united as a staff and a playing group.”

With Southgate opting for a particularly pacy and dynamic front-line against Romania, who are you backing to stand out and make the difference?

    ROY NOT KEANE
Gareth Southgate said he wants to have Jordan Henderson around the England squad for his experience – even if he is injured.
Roy Keane’s response on ITV?: “Why keep him? Does he do card tricks? A sing song? Does he do quizzes in the evenings?”
Roy Keane on Jordan Henderson… 😬“Clearly Jordan’s not fit – I don’t think he should be involved… I’ve heard people say they want him around the place – for what? Does he do card tricks? Does he have a sing song? Does he do quizzes in the evenings?” pic.twitter.com/YhYaXxg8FX— ITV Football (@itvfootball) June 6, 2021

    ROMANIA SELECTION
Romania boss Mirel Rodoi hands a debut to Adrian Paun. The winger will start on the left of a front three.
Former Spurs defender and Romania captain Vlad Chiriches earns a 64th cap for his country.
Radoi said: “It will be a tough and aggressive team [England] that we will meet.
“It will be a challenge not to be only well-organised in defence, because if we concentrate only on this it will be difficult to make the positive transition and go to the attacking side.
“We will try, even if we will be forced to suffer a bit, to alternate the pressing with the defensive organisation of the game.”
Romania won’t be at Euro 2020 after being defeated by Iceland in the play-offs.
    HENDO WORRIES
Jordan Henderson was expected to start this evening but is only named on the bench as he continues to work his way back to fitness.
If he doesn’t get minutes at some stage tonight, what role can he expect to play at the Euros? The 30-year-old hasn’t played since picking up a groin injury in February.
The England skipper has been branded selfish by former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor for taking a spot ahead of another fully-fit player.
“The thing that’s really winding me up is Henderson,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
“He should just be honest with the manager and say, ‘You know what? I’m struggling here. I’m a leader and a captain in myself, I’ll do the right thing for the squad.
“Bring in Ben White, Eric Dier, bring in whoever you have to bring in, because this injury is playing up now, I’m not fit and it might reoccur if I do get better for the second game.’ I think he’s being selfish.”
😡 Gabby: “The thing that’s winding me up is the Henderson thing. He should be honest with the manager.”🤔 Jamie: “Do you think Jordan Henderson’s being selfish?”😬 Gabby: “I do, yeah’Gabby Agbonlahor feels Jordan Henderson is being ‘selfish’ for not leaving England squad pic.twitter.com/d6sH95ZUHV— talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) June 3, 2021

    NINE CHANGES, THREE DEBUTS
So Gareth Southgate makes nine changes for today’s game from the side that defeated Austria in midweek, with Sam Johnstone, Ben Godfrey and Ben White all handed their debuts.
The only two players who keep their places from Wednesday are Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings.
Bukayo Sako, scorer of the winner against Austria, misses out with a hip injury.
Harry Kane wasn’t expected to be in the squad today but is named on the bench.
The Manchester City and Chelsea stars who only reported for duty on Friday following their Champions League exploits aren’t included.
Southgate said this week: “I don’t think the training periodisation would be right to put them into Sunday’s game.”
We expect Grealish to play in a No.10 role, with Marcus Rashford on the right, Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the centre and Jadon Sancho on the left.

    THE TEAMSHEETS ARE IN!
    GOOD AFTERNOON FROM MIDDLESBROUGH
It’s England’s final friendly before the Euros – in exactly a week the Three Lions will be taking on Croatia in their opening Group D fixture.
We’re unlikely to see Gareth Southgate field the team that will start against the Croatians at Wembley, but Jordan Henderson is expected to make his first appearance since undergoing groin surgery in February.
“The last two, three days training have been a lot more positive for him. He’s been visibly happier within himself and that’s a positive sign,” said Southgate.
Henderson’s Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold has had to withdraw from the squad after sustaining a thigh injury in Wednesday’s friendly with Austria.
Southgate said: “It’s heartbreaking for any player to get to the eve of a major tournament and then miss out because of injury.”
Southgate will name a replacement for Alexander-Arnold after the Romania game, with Ben Godfrey, Ben White, James Ward-Prowse, Jesse Lingard and Ollie Watkins in contention.
“There isn’t a rush and it’s important to have time to consider these things. It’s important to get the balance right,” said Southgate.
Jadon Sancho will be fit for today’s game after training for the last three days.

    HAZARD STAY
Eden Hazard will remain at Real Madrid for the start of next season, teammate Thibaut Courtois has revealed.
The former Chelsea forward has been linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge following an awful couple of years in Spain.
But Courtois has confirmed the 30-year-old is staying at Real Madrid and tipped him to answer critics in the same way divisive star Gareth Bale did.
Speaking to Le Soir, the keeper said: “I’m 100% sure he’s staying. He doesn’t want to move. Only the Madrid press writes about the desire to leave.
“He wants to continue, play free of injuries and win titles.
“At Real Madrid there is criticism all the time and for everyone. Gareth Bale was criticized, but he won the Champions League and scored a double in the final in Kyiv.
“We all know that in Madrid there is pressure and criticism from the press and the fans. But Eden can handle that. I know him well enough to say it. He can still change everything.”
“He still wants to be an important player for Madrid and win titles.”
    EDDING TO ELLAND ROAD
Arsenal have offered Eddie Nketiah to Leeds for £20million, according to reports.
The Gunners are willing to sell the striker who previously spent time at Elland Road on loan.
Leeds are said to be in the market for a new forward to challenge star man Patrick Bamford and have been offered Nketiah, according to FI.
And Arsenal are open to offers for the 22-year-old and Mikel Arteta is said to have sanctioned the sale.
But the North Londoners want at least £20m for their academy product.
Nketiah’s contract has a year left to run so the club are looking to cash in now.

    MOVE DUM-ED
Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum has rejected a move to Barcelona and will join Paris Saint-Germain instead.
That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Wijnaldum will sign a three-year contract and will make more than double compared to what Barca offered.
Romano tweeted: “Georginio Wijnaldum has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.
“Barcelona have NO intention to raise their bid after they agreement ready by 2 weeks and medicals planned.
“Gini is now set to accept PSG proposal until 2024 with salary more than doubled [compared to Barça bid]”

    RASHFORD UPDATE
Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford is set to undergo surgery after the summer’s delayed Euro 2020 tournament.
Rashford has suffered shoulder as well as foot injuries and United have agreed to let him play for the Three Lions.
According to the Daily Mirror, the star striker is set to go under the knife as soon as England’s involvement in the competition comes to an end.
The 23-year-old, who will get surgery on his foot, is then facing a race against time to be fit for the new Premier League campaign
    KANT DENY IT
Manchester United star Paul Pogba insists Chelsea ace N’Golo Kante deserves the Ballon d’Or.
Pogba told Eurosport: “What I would like to say to the whole world is that the ‘NG’ we have seen in recent months has always been the same.
“We talk a lot about his performances but he has always been as good as ever.
“There was no Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi in the semi-final, so it’s good to see the performances of the midfielders or even the defenders.
“I said a long time ago that it would be appropriate, if Chelsea won, for him to win the Ballon d’Or. It would be deserved too”
    GETTY IMAGES
    DON’T CONTE ON HIM
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy pulled the plug on Antonio Conte because his ‘unrealistic’ demands could have sent the club into financial meltdown, SunSport can exclusively reveal.
Advanced negotiations broke down between the two sides due to what Levy felt were excessive and potentially catastrophic demands from Conte.
In addition to a whopping £15million-a-year salary, the Italian manager wanted a huge war chest — believed to be in excess of £100m — for new signings.
Levy was also ‘wary’ of the ex-Chelsea boss’ reluctance to make use of the club’s academy talent
    ENGLAND SQUAD
Let’s have another look at the players England boss Gareth Southgate has called up:
Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson, Sam Johnstone, Jordan Pickford
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (injured), Ben Chilwell, Conor Coady, Reece James, Harry Maguire, Tyrone Mings, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Mason Mount, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice
Forwards: Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling
    SANCHO WAR
Chelsea are delaying their decision on whether they will join Manchester United in the transfer war for Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho.
That is according to the Daily Express, who claim the Blues may try to swoop in for star winger Sancho.
United are holding talks with Dortmund as well as the 21-year-old’s representatives and the Red Devils appear to be firmly at the front of the queue.
The west Londoners could provide competition but manager Thomas Tuchel is yet to decide on whether he believes the England international is needed, given his attacking options.
    SAKA INJURED
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is set to miss England’s friendly with Romania this evening.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim Saka suffered a hip injury recently.
The winger netted his first goal for the Three Lions on Wednesday’s friendly against Austria.
However, there is no indication that the 19-year-old could miss Euro 2020 this summer
    NEED A WARD
Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Southampton star James Ward-Prowse just after agreeing a club-record £30m-plus deal to sign Norwich ace Emi Buendia.
According to The Guardian, Ward-Prowse poses as another transfer target as Villa manager Dean Smith is looking to bolster his midfield.
Smith is also eager to complete transfers as quickly as possible as he targets another season of progress.
Ward-Prowse stood out for Saints this season with nine goals and seven assists in 44 matches across all competitions
    GETTY IMAGES
    ED OF THE LINE
Celtic star Odsonne Edouard is set to complete a £15million move to Leicester, despite interest from Arsenal.
That is according to The Times, who claim Edouard is likely to reunite with former Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Gunners had been linked with a move for the French striker, with the future of Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette in doubt.
However, it looks like the north Londoners may have to look elsewhere in the summer transfer window
    NEXT MOVE
Arsenal look set to miss out on Norwich star Emi Buendia, who is close to signing with Aston Villa.
According to Football London, however, Gunners technical director Edu has turned his focus on five main transfer targets after missing out on Buendia.
To be more specific, the north Londoners wish to strengthen in five key positions in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal are keeping tabs on Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana as well as left-back Ryan Bertrand, who recently left Southampton.
Mikel Arteta will also need a new right-back if Hector Bellerin leaves and thus may move for the likes of Inter Milan star Achraf Hakimi or Norwich ace Max Aarons and Brighton player Tariq Lamptey.
Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard, who spent the second half of the season on loan at the Emirates, remains a top target for the No10 position that Buendia would have filled.
And finally, Arsenal will be looking for a box-to-box midfielder with the likes of Brighton’s Yves Bissouma and Sheffield United ace Sander Berge posing as a priority
    NEVES SAY NEVER
Manchester United have been linked with a summer swoop for Wolves ace Ruben Neves.
According to The Times, Neves poses as a transfer target for Arsenal, who are looking to boost their midfield.
However, United are closely monitoring the situation and may try to meet Wolves’ £35million asking price.
Manager Mikel Arteta’s side, though, appear to be making the first move though
    COM AND GET HIM
Manchester United are reportedly still keeping tabs on Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman.
According to Bild, however, Chelsea seem to have the edge in the race for star winger Coman.
That comes down to Blues manager Thomas Tuchel’s close ties in Germany following his glittering Bundesliga career.
The France international stood out for Bayern as he amassed eight goals and 15 assists in 39 appearances this season
    MAG-BYES
Newcastle have released 10 players, including Andy Carroll, as owner Mike Ashley takes another step towards a £300million sale of the club.
Carroll made 43 appearances across two years since returning to the Magpies.
But with just one goal in that time he did not do enough to earn a new contract and will become a free agent on June 30.
Also following Carroll out of the exit door are former Chelsea players Christian Atsu and Kyle Scott.
Owen Bailey, Ludwig Francillette, Lucas Gamblin, Florent Indalecio, George Rounsfell, Henri Saivet and Oliver Walters will also be leaving at the end of this month.
Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and Paul Dummett are all out of contract but do not feature on the list on the Premier League website
    GETTY IMAGES
    NEW TOON
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley expects to be given the green light to sell the club as part of a £300million deal.
SunSport have revealed that Ashley is so confident he has informed the Saudi Arabian consortium, headed by Amanda Staveley, to be ready to go within a month.
The Sports Direct chief, who bought the Toon in 2007, has been involved in a legal battle with the Premier League for almost eight months.
The controversial bigwig took them to the Competition Appeal Tribunal after the consortium walked away last summer, with the hearing scheduled to begin next Friday
    SAUL SEARCHING
Manchester United are set to face a bidding war for Atletico Madrid ace Saul Niguez.
United have been linked with Spain international Saul amid the ongoing summer transfer window.
However, the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on the star midfielder.
According to Marca, Atletico need to offload players if they are to make top signings due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Matteo Moretto and Marca report that the Spain international has a release clause of €150million [£128m] but the LaLiga champions are willing to let him go for far less
    IT’S RON
Cristiano Ronaldo is holding talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a move in the summer.
That is according to AS, who report that Ronaldo has “welcomed” the approach from PSG.
The forward’s future at Juventus is uncertain following a hapless season that saw the Bianconeri giving away their Serie A crown to Inter Milan.
The 36-year-old has also been linked with a major return to Manchester United
    VARANE UPDATE
Manchester United are facing a big obstacle in their bid to sign Real Madrid star Raphael Varane in the summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, Real are asking more than their reported £35million release clause for Varane.
That is despite the fact the star centre-back only has one year left on his contract with the LaLiga giants.
United are searching for a new defender to partner up with Harry Maguire at the back
    SANCHO LATEST
Manchester United have restarted negotiations with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho’s representatives.
That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims United want to offer Sancho a five-year deal.
The Red Devils have yet to make an official offer to Dortmund for the winger.
The Bundesliga side is willing to sell him for a fee in the region of £82million.
Reports suggested that Liverpool are keeping tabs on the England international but no move has been made

    EM-INENT TRANSFER
Aston Villa are close to beating Arsenal for Norwich star Emi Buendia’s signature.
That is according to The Guardian, who report that Buendia is ready to become Villa’s record signing.
The Canaries accepted a £30million offer , plus add-ons that could take the final fee up to £40m.
Norwich will be entitled to a sell-on fee as part of the deal with Villa

SunSport can exclusively reveal Spurs chairman Daniel Levy pulled the plug on Antonio Conte because his ‘unrealistic’ demands could have sent the club into financial meltdown.
Advanced negotiations broke down due to what Levy felt were excessive and potentially catastrophic financial demands from the Italian.
In addition to a whopping £15million-a-year salary, Conte wanted a huge warchest — believed to be in excess of £100m — for new signings.
Levy was also ‘wary’ of Conte’s reluctance to make use of the club’s academy talent.
Meanwhile, SunSport can also tell you that Chelsea are keeping up the charm offensive to sign Billy Gilmour’s kid brother Harvey from Kilmarnock.
Chelsea’s scouts have been tracking the ball-playing midfielder for more than a year who is currently starring for Kilmarnock’s youth team.
Big brother Billy moved south via Rangers and local experts reckon Harvey could become even better than the new Chelsea hero.
Finally, SunSport understands Duncan Ferguson has turned down a job at Real Madrid because he wants to become Everton boss.
The Toffees legend was offered the chance to join Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff after the Italian quit Goodison Park this week.
But Big Dunc, 49, thinks he is ready to step up as manager and hopes owner Farhad Moshiri picks him.
He has also teed-up old team-mate Lee Carsley as his No 2 if he gets the nod.

Jonathan Woodgate is in grave danger of the axe at Bournemouth — with Scott Parker in their sights as boss.
The Cherries plan to change manager after Woodgate’s failure to get through the Championship promotion play-offs when he took over.
And Fulham chief Parker is top of the wanted list because of his past record at this level and amid growing talk that he wants a new challenge.
Parker, 40, was wanted by Bournemouth when Eddie Howe left a year ago, but they could not seal a deal as the Cottagers were in the top flight.
Now there will be a second attempt to get him and Parker may decide to move on because Fulham have gone down.

Euro 2020 LIVE: England to take knee before games, Wales concerns over Ramsey fitness, Rashford set for surgery

ENGLAND will continue to take the knee during Euro 2020 in support of Black Lives Matter, Gareth Southgate has confirmed. That is despite fans booing the statement ahead of the Three Lions’ friendly against Austria.
Meanwhile Aaron Ramsey got an hour of game time in Wales’ drab 0-0 draw against Albaina, but the Juventus midfielder is set to be managed throughout the tournament because of an injury problem.

Follow all of the latest news, build up and updates below…
    I’M THE ENGLAND MAN
England strike ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin revealed his dad celebrated his Euros call-up by blasting out the John Barnes rap.
Calvert-Lewin is ready to make an impact for the Three Lions as Harry Kane’s understudy – and is starting today’s friendly against Romania with the captain rested.
When the Everton hitman got the nod he was in the squad, dad Karlda could not wait to belt out the lyrics of Barnes’ famous solo in 1990 World Cup song World in Motion by New Order.
Calvert- Lewin said: “I was waiting on Tuesday to get the official announcement to know I was in the squad and my dad FaceTimed me and started singing the John Barnes tune.
“He’s rubbish but it’s quite funny and I expect nothing less from him, that’s the kind of relationship we’ve got. So I was laughing at that.
“My family have always been a part of my journey.”

    BOO BOYS
England vs Romania kicks off shortly so let’s take a look at the debate surrounding the players’ decision to take the knee.
Gareth Southgate shared his thoughts earlier today: “We feel, more than ever, we are determined to take the knee throughout the tournament.
“We accept there might be an adverse reaction but we’re going to ignore it and move forward. We are all trying to move towards equality — and support our team-mates because of some of the experiences they’ve been through — but people decided to boo.
“The players are sick of talking about all the consequences of should they, shouldn’t they. They’ve had enough really.”
Gary Lineker condemned the booers on Twitter: “If you boo England players for taking the knee, you’re part of the reason why players are taking the knee.”
Piers Morgan also chimed in, saying: “I wonder if those England fans booing players for taking the knee to protest racial injustice know the idea came from ⁦Nate Boyer, a US Green Beret war hero who suggested it to NFL star ⁦Colin Kaepernick as a more respectful way to make his point.”

    TOO GOOD TO BE ROO
Wayne Rooney has THREE major concerns for Gareth Southgate’s England team heading into Euro 2020.
England’s record goalscorer has doubts over the team’s experience at a major tournament, potential complacency, and injuries to key players such as Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson.
Speaking in his column for The Times, Rooney said: “One of the doubts I have about England is that they’re a young squad, who lack knowhow.
“I also worry that complacency could creep in, because England’s group is not as straightforward as people seem to think.
“Croatia beat England in 2018 and have tournament knowledge and some very good, experienced players. Scotland will be tough, compact and difficult to beat.
“For England, qualifying might even come down to the last group match against Czech Republic.
“It is so important that Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson are fit because along with Harry Kane they form the backbone of the side, the ones who others on the pitch will look to for leadership.
“If Maguire and Henderson aren’t ready for the first game, things could get tricky for England because it’s hard for a player to get up to speed once a tournament is under way.”

    MOVE DUM-ED
Liverpool star and Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum has rejected a move to Barcelona and will join Paris Saint-Germain instead.
That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Wijnaldum will sign a three-year contract after Euro 2020 and will make more than double compared to what Barca offered.

    RASHFORD UPDATE
Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford is set to undergo surgery after the summer’s delayed Euro 2020 competition.
Rashford has sustained shoulder as well as foot injuries and United have agreed to let him play for the Three Lions.
According to the Daily Mirror, the striker is set to go under the knife as soon as England’s involvement in the competition comes to an end.
The 23-year-old, who will get an operation on his foot, is then facing a race against time to be fit for the new Premier League campaign
    KANT DENY IT
Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba claims Chelsea star and France team-mate N’Golo Kante deserves the Ballon d’Or ahead of Euro 2020.
It would be deserved too”
    RAMSEY UPDATE
Wales manager Rob Page has played down any injury concerns over Juventus star Aaron Ramsey ahead of the summer’s delayed Euro 2020 competition.
Former Arsenal ace Ramsey took a heavy knock following a challenge with Albania international Ardian Ismajli during a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
But Page isn’t worried about the midfielder’s fitness as he claims it was only a kick in the shin.
The Wales boss said: “It was a kick to the shin which is the best case scenario for us. You don’t want him to jar his knee or twist his ankle, but there was none of that.
“It would have hurt him initially. When I said to him ‘you’ve got another 13 minutes then I’m bringing you off’, he said he was fine.
“But we’ve got to manage the minutes, take the emotions out of the game. It would have been lovely to keep him on, but we don’t want to push him too far”

    YOUNG BLOOD
England boss Gareth Southgate has faith in his young talent ahead of the summer’s delayed Euro 2020.
Southgate has included a number of youngsters to his squad and trusts them as they already have 10 caps under their belt.
The Three Lions boss said: “Some of them have 10 caps or more at a young age.
“In the long term that will be really beneficial.”
    SANCHO WAR
Chelsea are delaying their decision on whether they will join Manchester United in the transfer war for Borussia Dortmund star winger Jadon Sancho.
That is according to the Daily Express, who claim the Blues may try to swoop in for Sancho in the summer transfer window.
United are holding talks with Dortmund as well as the 21-year-old’s representatives and the Red Devils appear to be firmly at the front of the queue for his signature.
The west Londoners could provide competition but manager Thomas Tuchel is yet to decide on whether he believes the England international is needed, given his options up front
    SAKA INJURED
Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka is set to miss England’s friendly with Romania tonigh.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim Saka suffered a recent hip injury.
The star winger netted his first goal for the Three Lions on Wednesday’s friendly game against Austria.
However, there is no indication that the 19-year-old ace could miss Euro 2020
    BERN-ING QUESTION
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, depending on what the courts decide about his suspension.
This begs the question about whether starting keeper Bernd Leno will leave the Gunners in the summer transfer window.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there are numerous teams interested for the German shot-stopper.
Leno, however, is currently focused on the summer’s Euro 2020 as he prepares with the Germany national team
    MAGUIRE INJURY UPDATE
England manager Gareth Southgate shared an injury update regarding Manchester United star Harry Maguire.
Maguire suffered an ankle injury recently and missed the Europa League Final, which saw United losing the title to Villarreal.
However, the Three Lions’ medical team are “pleased” with the centre-back’s progress but insist a minor setback could have heavy repercussions.
Southgate said: “With any injury it’s impossible to predict 100 per cent, our medical team are pleased with his progress, particularly over the last couple of days, [but] we know there’s always that risk”
    GETTY IMAGES
    RASHFORD UPDATE
England manager Gareth Southgate claims Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford has “been able to move on” from the Europa League loss to Villarreal.
Southgate said: “He looks very bright, I think he had value from the time off we were able to give him after the European final.
“That was, of course, a huge disappointment for him not to win the trophy.
“For all of the players, the psychological freshness of having a short period off has been beneficial.
“He’s been able to move on from that moment and I think he’s enjoyed being in our environment again and he’s trained really well”
    TRUE CLASS
England will continue to take a knee before their Euro 2020 games and are “more determined than ever” to ignore any boos from the stands.
That is according to Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate, who revealed that the squad agreed to carry on taking the anti-racism stance despite the jeers they received from a loud minority during their recent friendly with Austria in Middlesbrough.
Southgate said: “The first thing is that collectively we are very disappointed that it happened. I think you have to put yourself in the shoes of a young England player about to represent his country. We’re all trying to move towards equality and support our own team-mates because of some of the experiences they’ve been through in their lives, but people decided to boo.
“I think those people should put themselves in the shoes of those young players. If that was their children – if they’re old enough to have children – how would they feel about their kids being in that situation?
“The most important thing for our players is for them to know we are totally united on it. We’re totally committed to supporting each other, supporting the team, and we feel more than ever that we are determined to take the knee throughout this tournament”
    COM AND GET HIM
Manchester United are reportedly still keeping tabs on Bayern Munich star winger Kingsley Coman.
According to Bild, however, Chelsea seem to have the edge in the race for 24-year-old Coman.
That comes down to Blues boss Thomas Tuchel’s close ties in Germany following his impressive Bundesliga career.
The France international stood out for Bayern as he amassed eight goals and 15 assists in 39 appearances this season and is now getting ready for Euro 2020
    DE-D SERIOUS
Manchester United ace David De Gea has been let down by a poor coaching team and soft backline.
That’s according to De Gea’s former coach Gabino Rodriguez, who told SunSport: “I always believe the team is a true reflection of the character of its coach.
“But Ole’s team is softer than a muffin and David is suffering the consequences of the defensive frailties.
“You need to protect your best asset in the team, but there is just an uncontrolled mess between midfield and defence with gaps.
“Basically Ole’s team has a brutal defensive weakness. The two centre-backs are too slow, they are not commanding and other teams are well aware of it.
“The big problem is Solskjaer’s tactical organisation. United’s defensive deficiencies are undervaluing De Gea and Ole just doesn’t convince me.”
De Gea is now getting ready for the summer’s delayed Euro 2020 competition with Spain
    SAK ATTACK
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka sent a message to the fans after being named the club’s Player of the Season.
Saka shone bright despite a turbulent campaign, which saw the Gunners missing out on European qualification for the first time in 25 years.
The winger is now training with England ahead of the summer’s delayed Euro 2020.
Here’s what he had to say:

    FOR WHOM THE BALE TOLLS
Gareth Bale is still considering retirement after Euro 2020.
That is according to Marca, who claim that Carlo Ancelotti’s comeback to Real Madrid won’t alter his future plans.
Bale spent the season on loan at Tottenham and is now ready to compete for Wales in the summer’s Euros.
The 31-year-old has one more year to run on his contract with Real but the club wouldn’t stand in his way, as his departure would see them free up almost £20million
    IT’S RON
Cristiano Ronaldo is negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain over a move in the summer.
That is according to AS, who report that Juventus star Ronaldo has “welcomed” the approach from PSG.
The forward’s future at Juve is uncertain following a hapless season that saw the Bianconeri giving away their Serie A crown to Inter Milan.
The 36-year-old has also been linked with a shock return to Manchester United
    ENGLAND SQUAD
Let’s have another look at the players England manager Gareth Southgate has called up:
Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson, Sam Johnstone, Jordan Pickford
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (injured), Ben Chilwell, Conor Coady, Reece James, Harry Maguire, Tyrone Mings, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Mason Mount, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice
Forwards: Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling
    MORE FROM PICKFORD
England star Jordan Pickford admits that he is in a much better place as he prepares for Euro 2020.
Pickford told the Daily Telegraph: “I have to think how lucky I am; all of the work my family put in – from me being six, seven years old with my parents taking me to football all the time.
“The amount they have invested in me. It’s about how can I keep that level of performance and look back to where I have come from.
“It’s crucial and I feel that I have kicked on this year. I feel calmer, I feel in the moment and I feel great”
    WALES PREDICTED XI
SunSport’s Phil Cadden reckons this is how Wales will start against Switzerland in Baku on Saturday.
But it looks like Wales will have to use one of Euro 2016’s best players – Aaron Ramsey – sparingly.
From what I have seen…Wales team next Saturday: Ward; C Roberts, Mepham, Rodon, B Davies, N Williams (poss man-marking Shaqiri out of possession); Allen, Morrell; Bale, Wilson, James. Impact subs: Ampadu, Ramsey, Moore. Thoughts? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿— Phil Cadden (@pjcadden) June 5, 2021

Ramsey is the big debate. Very fragile with injuries and will need to be managed through the tournament.— Phil Cadden (@pjcadden) June 5, 2021

    FORD TO BE RECKONED WITH
England ace Jordan Pickford revealed that he has improved his game between the sticks by seeing a sports psychologist and is no longer the same hyperactive and bellowing player on the pitch.
Pickford told the Daily Telegraph: “I just feel in a very good place. I began working with a psychologist at the start of the season.
“You know in football, those little one or two per cent gains — just to raise your ability on the pitch and what you can achieve — are crucial.
“Whether it’s nutrition, psychology, extra gym sessions. I think it helps. So why not use it?”
    GETTY IMAGES
    GOOD MORNING EUROS FANS
Gaerth Southgate has been given a major boost ahead of the Euros as Jordan Henderson has returned to full training.
The Liverpool captain, who’s not played for FOUR months, is in a race to be fit for England’s first group game against Croatia on Sunday, June 13.
The 30-year-old joined in with the bulk of the squad as they continue their preparations for Euro 2020.
Meanwhile, Southgate is expected to deploy a FIVE-MAN defence in tonight’s friendly against Romania.
Kyle Walker could feature as a right-sided centre-back, with Kieran Trippier at wing-back and Luke Shaw deployed on the opposite flank.
Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden are also in line to start either side of Harry Kane.
Finally, Nigel Winterburn believes Ben Chilwell should be England’s No1 left-back ahead of Shaw at the Euros.
He told SunSport: “I wouldn’t mind if either of them played, but if I’m to pick one I’d go Chilwell just based on the feel-good factor.
“He’s been in great form and Chelsea had an unbelievable finish to the season, so I’d go that way.
“The question is whether Southgate goes with four or five at the back and if he prefers one or the other based on the system.
“[Bukayo] Saka is another player who could equally play in that position, so England have some good options there.”
    EURO STARS
Harry Redknapp believes England can WIN Euro 2020!
SunSport columnist Redknapp exclusively wrote: “We have been here  before — but I have never been so certain as I am right now, this time England really CAN go all the way.
“In fact never mind can, I honestly believe we WILL. So much so that I’ll genuinely be very disappointed if we don’t win the Euros.
“Not a brave defeat in the semi-finals, another near miss and  ‘what if’ — but the sight of Harry Kane lifting the trophy at Wembley on July 11.
“We all know there hasn’t been much to smile about over the last 15 months, so what better way to give the whole country a lift?
“I really do think it’s our time at long, long last.”

F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix LIVE RESULT: Perez WINS in Baku, Verstappen crashes while Hamilton off podium – latest updates

SERGIO PEREZ has claimed the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after an extraordinary race in Baku. Max Verstappen was on course for victory before a late crash saw him out, while Lewis Hamilton went too hard from the restart and finished miles back in the field.

    1st Perez 2nd Vettel 3rd Gasly

Get all the latest F1 updates from Baku here…
    LATE DRAMA
Lewis Hamilton had a day to forget at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix as he blew a golden opportunity to regain the lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.
After title rival Max Verstappen crashed out with just FOUR laps to go, Hamilton suffered the same agonising fate when the race resumed.
Verstappen was on the verge of winning the race when his left rear tyre gave way and sent him flying into the wall.
The 23-year, unscathed by the crash, got out of his Red Bull and kicked the faulty tyre in frustration before storming off.
The race was stopped two laps later due to debris on the track, giving Hamilton – then second behind Sergio Perez – a golden opportunity to regain the lead in the Drivers’ Championship.
The 36-year-old Brit was even in with a chance of winning the GP as he resumed alongside Perez on the front row.
And for a brief moment, it appeared he’d overtaken the Mexican in the Red Bull as his Mercedes pulled out in front at the restart.
But Hamilton locked up and flew off the track, making a mistake that could cost him dearly later in the season.

    DRIVING TO THE MAX
It was a painful end to the race for Max Verstappen, who for long periods looked set to consolidate his Driver’s Championship lead.
But with a clear road in front of him, Verstappen lost control of his Red Bull in the 47th lap and crashed into the wall.
His rear left tyre gave way – the same problem Lance Stroll experienced in his Aston Martin earlier in the race.
The title candidate couldn’t believe his luck, getting out of his knackered vehicle and kicking the faulty tyre in frustration.
Thankfully he appears to have been uninjured during the crash.

    THE ERROR
Hamilton somehow managed to go from P2, right back to last place.
An incredible end to the race in Baku.

    HAMILTON’S MISTAKE
He did not take his own advice.

SERGIO PEREZ WINS THE AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX
Sebastian Vettel on the podium in second. Pierre Gasly in P3.
    Amazing stuff.
    HUGE MISTAKE FROM HAMILTON
That was the first time in 55 races where he has failed to score points.
    FINAL LAP
Perez leads Vettel and there is a fascinating fight for third place as Gasly and Leclerc trade places. Norris also in the hunt for third.
DRAMA AS HAMILTON GOES ON AT TURN ONE
Perez loses P1 to Hamilton, who carries in too much speed and is forced into the exit road.
Perez leads from Vettel, Gasly in P3. Leclerc in P4.
    STANDING START
    Hamilton’s car is smoking….
HERE WE GO – THE RESTART
All eyes on the Perez v Hamilton fight. But Vettel is the only one on new tyres.
VETTEL COULD BE IN WITH A SHOUT FOR A WIN

DRIVERS GETTING READY FOR THE RESTART
This is going to be an exciting finish. Hamilton could be in for a bonus day here.
He was 11th quickest on Friday.
RACE TO RESUME IN AROUND 10 MINUTES
We will finish this GP. It will be a sprint to the chequered flag.
    LAP 49 RESTART PROCEDURE
We are awaiting confirmation of how this race will restart, if indeed it does.
    RED FLAG – RACE STOPPED
Verstappen’s car is recovered and the race is stopped.

    PIRELLI MUST FACE THE MUSIC
Verstappen was travelling at 200mph and there was no warning. That’s a second failure.
    He is inconsolable. Understandable.

BIG SMASH FOR VERSTAPPEN – HE IS OUT OF THE RACE
He has a rear left tyre failure – the same tyre that exploded on Stroll’s car.
That is a big one. Huge questions now for Pirelli. What a blow. He was in control of this race.
No warning whatsoever. What a dangerous incident.

VERSTAPPEN REPONDS BY SETTING THE FASTEST LAP
He is 4.137secs ahead of his teammate, who is in second place.
    HAMILTON SETS THE FASTEST LAP
He is on for a bonus point here.
    10 LAPS TO GO
Vettel is running in 4th. He has gone up seven places in this race. Great drive from the four-time world champion, who is closing in on Hamilton.
    MAX IN CONTROL

    LAP 40
    Verstappen, Perez (+4.105), Hamilton (+1.368).
    LAP 40
Bottas is passed by Giovinazzi and is dumped to 14th place.
    LAP 37
Vettel gets Gasly. The German has fresher tyres and has made up two places. He is running in fourth place.
LAP 36 WE ARE RACING AGAIN
Verstappen gets away cleanly and Perez is under pressure from Hamilton but the Mexican stays in front.
Hamilton could have made a move there but was cautious. Meanwhile, Vettel gets past Sainz in to fifth.
