    IT KANE HAPPEN
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Red Devils stars will be asking Harry Kane for his thoughts about a potential move to Old Trafford during England’s Euro 2020 preparations.
“Yeah that happens. That happened when I went to the World Cup with Nicky Butt, Becks [David Beckham] in the United team. Talked about me coming to United.
“That was speculation in the paper. That happens, every tournament, every get together. Players talking to players. I’m sure managers have said ‘speak to him for me and find out what he’s like’.
“Butt just said to me ‘would you come United?’. And I said ‘yeah I would. I want to win trophies’. That probably filtered back to the manager, they know if they want to make a bid or not. That’s how it works.
“All players are like fans. If you were in a squad with a player who you think is brilliant and you want him to come to your club you’d be saying ‘come on, mate. Come to us. Get on to your club and your agent and try to manoeuvre a move to get to us”
    SANCHO BOOST
Manchester United are likely to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho for nearly £30million less than he’d have cost last summer.
Dortmund demanded £108m for Sancho last year and United refused to match that asking price.
According to the Daily Mirror, however, this time around the Red Devils look set to finally secure their target.
Dortmund are reportedly set to accept £81.5m for the 21-year-old England international
    HAALAND RECAP
Just to remind you of how things stand regarding Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland.
Chelsea have apparently made Haaland their top transfer target this summer with the Dortmund forward keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season after winning the Champions League.
However, the north Londoners and every other suitor will have to cough up a whopping £150million for the Norway international
    HAAL IN
Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland is reportedly keen to leave the Bundesliga outfit.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Haaland would be open to holding talks over a potential move to another elite club.
The star striker has been linked with Manchester United as well as Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Dortmund are open to offers in the region of £150million in the summer transfer window.
    POINT BREAK
THE Big Six have accepted Prem fines of just £3.5m each for their part in the breakaway plot.
But Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and the two Manchester giants have agreed they would face £20m fines AND 30-point deductions if they joined any future rebel scheme.
The decision, likely to be fiercely contested by the 14 clubs left out of the coup attempt, is League chief Richard Masters’ attempt to draw a line under the debacle.
Masters, who enlisted the backing of PM Boris Johnson to help foil the breakaway in the space of 48 tumultuous hours, dismissed all calls for points deductions for the Six.
He also recognises that, for all their plotting, the Big Six remain the driving force of the Prem’s global success story.
And by getting them to sign up to future draconian penalties, Masters and fellow League bosses believe they have put the Super League genie back in the bottle for ever.

    DAVID DE STAYA
David de Gea expects to stay at Manchester United next season and be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No1.
The Spanish keeper has had a mixed campaign while fighting it out with Dean Henderson for the starting spot.
The 30-year-old won the race to start in the Europa League final last month against Villarreal, but flopped in the penalty shootout.
But SunSport understands De Gea believes his future still lies at Old Trafford beyond the summer.
Solskjaer has been weighing up his goalkeeper options for next year, with one of the Spaniard or Henderson facing the possible axe.
It is believed Tom Heaton is being signed to come in as back-up from Aston Villa on a free transfer.
And De Gea reckons he will be first choice, despite mixed fortunes at United over the past few months.

    RON WAY BACK?
Glamour model Katrina Maria has urged Manchester United to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo amid uncertainty over his future.
The 29-year-old shared snaps of herself wearing a United shirt with the Portugal international’s name on the back to her 87,000 Instagram followers.
Captioning the upload, she said: “It would be legendary if Ronaldo returned back home one day.”

    THAT’S SAUL FOLKS
Atletico Madrid have reportedly offered Saul Niguez in exchange for Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva in a blow to Manchester United.
The Red Devils have long targeted the Spanish midfielder.
But Atletico’s desire to sign Silva could send Saul to United‘s rivals.
According to The Times, Atletico are willing to send club stalwart Saul in a direct swap for City star Silva – in a move that could benefit both clubs in terms of Financial Fair Play.
And the transfer could also work out well for both players
Saul, 26, has been a key man for Simeone over the years, playing 337 times for his boyhood club.

    PRICE IS WHITE
Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have been warned Ben White will cost £50million, according to reports.
The Brighton defender, 23, enjoyed a fine debut Premier League season this term.
And he was rewarded for his form by replacing the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold in England’s final 26-man squad for Euro 2020.
Brighton are unsurprisingly desperate to keep hold of the Three Lions star beyond this summer.
And to do so, the Seagulls have slapped a £50m price tag on the Dorset-born defender – as we revealed they would do back in October.

    HOLA JADON
Jadon Sancho is interested in a move to LaLiga, according to reports.
The Borussia Dortmund winger, 21, looks on course to leave the German club this summer.
Manchester United are desperate to land the star, especially now Dortmund have lowered their asking price to £80million.
But according to The Times, Sancho wants to try his luck in Spain.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are the traditional big hitters of LaLiga, although Atletico Madrid did win the league this season.
The Nou Camp or Bernabeu would be the more likely options for the winger.

    VAN DE BEEK REACTS
Manchester United defender Donny van de Beek has given his reaction to being ruled out of Euro 2020 after suffering an injury while training with the Netherlands national team.

    BELLERIN TO ALLOW TRIPPIER MOVE
Arsenal have told all parties interested in Hector Bellerin they must cough up at least £20million for the Spaniard.
And with Atletico Madrid waiting to pounce, it could see Kieran Trippier move to Manchester United.
Atletico were said to be considering a swap deal involving Trippier and Bellerin.
But SunSport exclusively revealed this week Trippier has told his England team-mates he wants to move to Old Trafford.
As a result, Atletico have been told to cough up the dough if they want to bring Bellerin back to his homeland to replace Trippier, according to CBS.

    HAMMER TIME
West Ham will step up their bid for Jesse Lingard following his England heartache.
Lingard’s failure to make the Euro 2020 squad has been a blow to the forward who enjoyed a hugely impressive loan spell with the Hammers last season.
But being released from international duty means West Ham boss David Moyes is hopeful a permanent deal from parent club Manchester United can soon be concluded.
A club insider said: “Jesse knows we want him, so hopefully the club will pursue him in the next month or so.”

    FIVE YEARS OF ERIC BAILLY

    LIONS READY TO ROAR
Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling are set to ‘explode’ into life for England at this summer’s European Championship, according to Roy Keane.
Both Three Lions stars endured a slight slump in form last season.
Sterling, 26, scored just ten goals – less than half of his 2019-20 – tally, with emerging superstar Phil Foden often preferred by Pep Guardiola.
Rashford, too, saw his goal-scoring tally dip from 17 to 11 in the Premier League.
But Manchester United icon Keane reckons that bodes well for England with Rashford, 23, and Sterling set to take out their frustrations on their Euro 2020 rivals.
Keane said: “Sometimes you look at players who have had a quiet spell – quiet because they’ve set such high standards.
“Rashford and Sterling, for example. But I think that is a good thing. You’re going into the tournament going ‘these lads are ready to explode’.
“Gareth [Southgate] definitely likes Rashford and Sterling.”

    DONNY DONE
Donny van de Beek is out of the Euros due to injury.
The Manchester United and Netherlands midfielder, 24, did not feature in either warm-up friendly against Scotland or Georgia ahead of the tournament.
And he trained separate from the rest of the team on Monday.
Now the KNVB have confirmed Van de Beek is ‘struggling with an injury’ and has been ruled out.
United team-mate Marcus Rashford sent a message of support for his pal.
The England forward tweeted: “sorry mate @Donny_beek6 take some time for yourself and keep your head high x”
Manager Frank de Boer will not call up a replacement to fill his spot in the 26-man squad.

And the transfer could also work out well for both players
Saul, 26, has been a key man for Simeone over the years, playing 337 times for his boyhood club.

    VAR VAR VOOM
England striker Marcus Rashford has named France star Raphael Varane as the toughest defender he has faced.
The Manchester United ace, 23, is currently preparing to represent the Three Lions at the European Championship.
And he was quick to name Varane along with Liverpool’s Netherlands star Virgil van Dijk and Madrid legend Sergio Ramos.
Rashford responded: “That is a tough question, Daniel.
“I think an individual is different to a unit. Some teams defend really well as units and it’s teams like Burnley, for example, who do everything as a four.
“So if one pushes up, they all push up. If one drops, they all drop. It can be, at times, difficult to find space.
“But then there are some top individual defenders – Van Dijk, Ramos.
“I thought, when we played against Real Madrid in a friendly, that Varane played and he was quite tough. So there are a few people.”

    TUCH & GO
Erling Haaland has reportedly handed Chelsea a major transfer boost with the striker keen on a move.
The Borussia Dortmund star is one of the most wanted players in Europe this summer.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are locked in a transfer tussle for his signature alongside both Manchester clubs and Real Madrid.
Dortmund are willing to listen to offers in the region of £150million this summer.
That is because his bargain £68m release clause will come into effect by the end of next campaign.
According to the Telegraph, Haaland would be open to holding talks over a potential switch to the European champions.

    HAMMER TIME
West Ham will step up their bid for Jesse Lingard following his England heartache.

    ONE LAST GDANSK
Dan James is out to banish the painful memory of Manchester United’s Europa League final heartache at the Euros.
The Wales winger, 23, scored a penalty in the Red Devils’ 11-10 shoot-out defeat to Villarreal last month.
But James admitted he and his potless United team-mates were left ‘gutted’ after returning from Poland empty-handed.
Now the prospect of a first Euro finals appearance in Saturday’s Group A opener with Switzerland in Baku is driving him on again.
James said: “It was gutting for all of us really. For me and a lot of the other players it’s not the end of our season. In football you just have to get back up and get on with it.
“Thankfully we don’t have to wait until next season to do that and we can go into the Euros and a different environment and look forward to getting back out on the pitch which is what we all want as players.”

    GOOD MORNING MAN UTD FANS
Manchester United have brought in highly-rated coach Justin Cochrane as head of player development and coaching for the academy.
Cochrane has been snapped up after impressing with The FA.
West Ham are set to step up their bid to land United’s Jesse Lingard after his Euro 2020 frustration.
The Reds’ hopes of signing Saul Niguez have suffered a blow with Atletico Madrid ready to use him as part exchange for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.
Long-term target Jadon Sancho is reportedly interested in a move to Spain this summer.
Donny van de Beek will miss Euro 2020 after being forced to leave the Netherlands squad due to injury.
And the Red Devils have failed in their bid to land Atalanta defender Cristian Romero.
    HAMMER TIME
West Ham will step up their bid for Jesse Lingard following his England heartache.
Lingard’s failure to make the Euro 2020 squad has been a blow to the forward who enjoyed a hugely impressive loan spell with the Hammers last season.
But being released from international duty means David Moyes is hopeful a permanent deal from parent club Manchester United can soon be concluded.
A club insider said: “Jesse knows we want him, so hopefully the club will pursue him in the next month or so.”
Lingard , 28, hit nine goals after joining West Ham on loan in January.
    JUST THE JOB
Manchester United have landed highly-rated coach Justin Cochrane.
The Red Devils have brought in Cochrane as head of player development and coaching for the academy.
Cochrane has moved to Old Trafford after impressing with The FA as England Under-17 lead coach and youth development phase lead.
The 39-year-old will focus on developing United’s players between the Under-17 and Under-23 age group.
Cochrane told the Manchester United website: “Joining such a world-renowned academy system is an extremely proud moment and I cannot wait to get started in this new and exciting role.
“From the first conversations, I could see the depth of top level coaching talent that is already in place at the club.
“I look forward to working with each of them to provide the right environment for our players to thrive and continue the phenomenal record of developing players for Manchester United’s first team.”

The 50-year-old added that his players should not “stick to football” and believes they have a “duty” to interact with the public on important matters such as equality, inclusivity and racial injustice.
This comes after a loud minority booed England players for taking the knee during the last two friendlies against Austria and Romania

Neves’ club are willing to drop his asking price as they seek to refresh their squad following the arrival of new boss Bruno Lage.

    LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS

    France 3-0 Bulgaria
    Spain 4-0 Lithuania
    Poland 2-2 Iceland
    Hungary 0-0 Republic of Ireland
    Czech Republic 3-1 Albania

    DONNY DONE
Donny van de Beek is out of the Euros due to injury.
The Manchester United and Netherlands midfielder, 24, did not feature in either warm-up friendly against Scotland or Georgia ahead of the tournament.
And he trained separate from the rest of the team on Monday.

Manager Frank de Boer will not call up a replacement to fill his spot in the 26-man squad.

    DIEGO COVID BLOW
Leeds star Diego Llorente has become the second Spain player to test positive for Covid-19 throwing the Spaniards’ Euro 2020 preparation into chaos.
La Roja captain Sergio Busquets tested positive on Sunday which saw the whole squad thrust into isolation.
That saw the Spanish forced to play an Under-21 side for their friendly against Lithuania on Tuesday – the same day Llorente returned a positive test.
And as a result, six senior stars – Kepa Arrizabalaga, Raul Albiol, Brais Mendez, Pablo Fornals, Rodrigo Moreno and Carlos Soler – have been called up and made to train in a parallel bubble to the original group.
Following Spain’s 4-0 win over the Lithuanians, the Spanish FA have confirmed a number of Under-21 players will also remain in Madrid to train there.
And it looks more and more likely players from the reserve groups will have to be used after Llorente, 27, was struck down.

    ROUND THE BENZ
Karim Benzema has handed France an injury scare ahead of Euro 2020 as he limped out of their friendly with Bulgaria.
Les Bleus cruised to a 3-0 win in their final match before they kick off the tournament on Tuesday against Germany in Munich.
The Real Madrid star, 33, was handed a shock international recall following a six-year absence for the showpiece.
And he looked poised to play a huge role for the reigning world champions before he suffered a blow during the first half of Tuesday night’s game.
Benzema appeared to be hurt following a challenge with Bulgarian defender Ivan Turitsov during the first half.
The veteran tried to play on but soon went down and signalled he could not continue as he hobbled off favouring his right knee in the 37th minute at the Stade de France.
France boss Didier Deschamps said: “It’s a knock.
“He took a good hit on the muscle above the left knee, and he felt that it was hardening so we took no risk. The medical staff is currently with him.”

    SUMMER OF LOVE
Gareth Southgate delivered a rousing message to England’s players and fans as his Euros prep cranked up a gear.
The Three Lions boss united the nation on the march to the World Cup semi-final in 2018 and now he wants the power of sport to lift the country again.
Southgate, whose team face Croatia in the Euro 2020 opener at Wembley on Sunday, recognised the nightmare 15 months of Covid-19 and wants his players to be part of a summer of love again.
He said: “There’s something I tell our players before every England game, and the reason that I repeat it is because I really believe it with all my heart.
“I tell them that when you go out there, in this shirt, you have the opportunity to produce moments that people will remember forever. You are a part of an experience that lasts in the collective consciousness of our country.
“We saw that during Russia 2018, with the street parties, the barbecues and with every drop of beer thrown into the air in celebration.”

    EURO 2016 MEMORY
One of the highlights of Euro 2016. When Hal Robson-Kanu scored this majestic goal in Wales’ famous 3-1 win over Belgium.

    HEND GAME
Glenn Hoddle admits he is worried about the inclusion of Jordan Henderson in England’s Euros squad.
But the former Three Lions boss is confident the Liverpool skipper can still have an impact with the younger players off the pitch.
Speaking to Betfair, Hoddle said: “Henderson has been brought into the squad and I think it is a risk.
“But I can see Gareth saying he needs someone with that experience who can settle people off the pitch. What happens off the pitch is not as important but it is massively important.
“For that down time when you’re not training, having that experience around is key, and if you haven’t got that to lean on and watch it can be tough.
“As a younger player you watch the older players and how they react and deal with it.”

    SHEARER AT EURO 96

    GRIEZI DOES IT
Antoine Griezmann with a lovely little bicycle kick last night. May have deflected but it’s still wonderful to see.

    LET’S FO!
Phil Foden has thanked Gareth Southgate for his shot at redemption — after being sent home in disgrace from England duty last autumn.
The Manchester City maestro was punished for breaking Covid restrictions when he and Mason Greenwood smuggled two Icelandic beauty queens into a Reykjavik hotel room.
It came the day after Foden, now 21, and Manchester United star Greenwood made their international debuts last September.
And starlet Foden admitted that ‘not many managers’ would have forgiven him so swiftly, as he prepares to start in Sunday’s Euros opener against Croatia.
Speaking publicly about it for the first time, Foden said: “Obviously I made a massive mistake but Gareth said if I keep doing well and keep performing I should get another opportunity.
“So I had to work hard for it and there are not many managers who would give you another opportunity so I have to thank Gareth a lot for giving me another chance.”

    GOOD MORNING EUROS FANS
Fans attending England’s games at Wembley will have to show either proof of both Covid jabs or a negative lateral flow test to gain access to the stadium.
Roy Keane has backed Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling to explode into life this summer after quiet spells recently.
Harry Kane is dreaming of leading England to Euro 2020 glory and winning the Golden Boot in a double triumph this summer.
Phil Foden paid tribute to Paul Gascoigne by recreating his famous Euro 96 haircut ahead of this summer’s tournament.
And Foden has thanked Gareth Southgate for giving him a shot at redemption after his Covid-19 shame in Iceland.
Ben White has revealed he was travelling home to Brighton when he got the call from Gareth Southgate telling him he’d been promoted to the England squad.
France suffered an injury scare after Karim Benzema was taken off during their friendly win over Bulgaria.
Virgil van Dijk will offer a helping hand as a coach for the Netherlands at Euro 2020 despite his injury layoff.
Aaron Ramsey has declared he is raring to go for Wales at this summer’s Euros.
And Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek was ruled out of the tournament for the Netherlands due to an injury.

The Manchester City maestro was punished for breaking Covid restrictions when he and Mason Greenwood smuggled two Icelandic beauty queens into a Reykjavik hotel room.

THAT’S ALL FROM ASUNCION – REPORT
BRAZIL made it six wins from six World Cup qualifying games with a 2-0 win over Paraguay in Asuncion.
It was the hosts who started the very early stages the brighter and looked like they had a strong penalty shout when Danilo’s dangling leg appeared to bring down Newcastle star Miguel Almiron.
The referee waved play on and the VAR check agreed with him.
Not even a minute later and they found themselves behind.
Gabriel Jesus got free down the right and sent a cross into the middle which Richarlison couldn’t make contact with under pressure from Robert Rojas.
But the ball fell at the feet of Neymar who had all the time in the world inside the box to pick his spot and place it into the bottom corner.
Paraguay were nearly level five minutes later when Omar Alderete pounced on a loose ball 25 yards out and smashed a rocket towards the top corner which Ederson saved spectacularly.
The Selecao thought they had a second on the stroke of half-time when Richarlison was sent clear and showed wonderful skill to touch and finish beyond Antony Silva, only to see the linesman’s flag correctly raised.
Into the second-half and Paraguay didn’t create anything of note as Brazil slowed the game to a pedestrian pace.
They had chances to seal it when Marquinhos sent a free header wide from six yards and Neymar did the same with a shot on 67 minutes.
It seemed like they would just hold on for a narrow win until Neymar again drove at the heart of the Paraguay defence and slipped in substitute Lucas Paqueta who coolly slotted home from 10 yards off the post.
Another Brazil win as they look to be cruising to the World Cup in Qatar. For Paraguay, it ends their unbeaten start in qualifying.
    Brazil superstar Neymar
    FULL-TIME STATS
Despite it being a relatively comfortable night for Brazil, the stats show they really just edged it.
You couldn’t split them possession-wise, with both sides sharing 50% of the ball.
Brazil’s 13 attempts at goal beat Paraguay’s 10, while the also won twice as many fouls – 20v10.

    THE GOAL THAT SEALED IT
Here is the Lucas Paqueta goal that finished Paraguay off.
A great assist from Neymar to cap off a good all-round performance.

    UPDATED TABLE
How we look after another busy night of World Cup qualifying.
Brazil in imperious form, while Paraguay suffer their first defeat.
They need to start turning the draws in to wins though.

    YEY OR NEY
Like him or loathe him, Neymar is a serious baller.
Another excellent performance from the PSG ace, where he could and should have had a hat-trick.
But it was goal number 66 for the Selecao for the No.10.
    Neymar celebrating opening the scoring
He should have scored at least one more
    SIX OF THE BEST
Brazil make it six wins from their six World Cup qualifying campaign as they stretch their lead at the top of the standings to six points.
It remains just two goals conceded from those outings as they also go top scorers on 16.
Lucas Paqueta celebrates scoring the second of the game
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
Full-time in Asunción: PARAGUAY 0-2 BRAZIL
    PARAGUAY 0-2 BRAZIL
90+3′ Another excellent piece of play from Neymar.
He again drives at a sea of red and white shirts before laying it off wide to Paqueta inside the area.
He coolly opens his body and rolls it from 15 yards across the keeper and in off the post.
    GOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!
    PAQUETA SEALS IT FOR BRAZIL!
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
90+3′ It looks like ending 1-0 as Ederson comes out to claim a long ball sent forward.
    Marquinhos heads clear
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
90+2′ Barbosa this time with a chance inside the area to finish it but he can’t direct his effort on target.
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
90+1′ Another poor challenge from Junior Alonso on halfway on Neymar.
He’s let off without a second booking this time.
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
    FOUR MINUTES ADDED
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
90′ Like earlier, it’s sent comfortably wide of Silva’s left-hand post.
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
88′ Paraguay discipline has completely gone here, they get THREE yellows in the space of 60 seconds.
Bareiro and Alonso booked in quick succession before Alderete wipes out Neymar and has a kick at him on the ground.
The Brazilian didn’t appreciate that but he does have the chance to seal it with this free-kick, 20 yards from goal.
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
    87′ CHANCE!
It’s worked down the left and the cut back is a good one into the path of Almiron who has a swipe at it.
It’s then laid off on the right inside the box and the shot that comes in is heading for the top corner but Ederson collects.
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
86′ It doesn’t beat the first man again.
How infuriating must that be to watch from the sides. Just put your foot through it man!!
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
86′ They get another chance though as Everton fouls Romero on the touchline, 22 yards from goal.
Seven men in red to hit inside the box.
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
85′ The delivery is poor as it’s clipped up and doesn’t quite reach the box.
    Brazil cleat to halfway.

    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
84′ Barbosa in the thick of it straight away, bringing down Almiron 35 yards from goal.
    Paraguay running out of time.
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
    And two changes for Brazil:

    OFF – Jesus and Richarlison
ON – Everton and Gabriel Barbosa

    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
    Double switch for the hosts:

    OFF – Cardozo and Romero
    ON – Bareiro and Samudio

    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
79′ Cardozo and Neymar this time in the 50/50 which the Paraguayan midfielder wins – and wins the free kick.
Neymar rolls around in pain for a second or two before jumping back to his feet.
Neymar should have made it 2-0
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
76′ Again, the Paraguay set piece is defended comfortably by the Brazil backline as Marquinhos heads clear.
    PARAGUAY 0-1 BRAZIL
75′ Brazil try to play the ball out from the back and Jesus’ touch is terrible again.
It then means he is into a 50/50 where he was late and high on his man.
A poor tackle that he is capable of and picks up a YELLOW CARD.

Argentina dropped some more points in Colombia as they gave away a two-point lead in their World Cup qualifying match at the El Metro Stadium.
The Albiceleste were hoping to come closer to table toppers Brazil and their hopes were boosted when they scored two goals in just five minutes.

Leandro Paredes doubled Argentina’s lead after eight minutes when he took advantage of some confusion in Colombia’s box and beat David Ospina with a fine finish.
However, disaster struck in the dying minutes of first half when goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez clashed in the air with Yerry Mina.
Martinez fell awkwardly and was unable to continue so the Aston Villa ace was replaced by Agustin Marchesin.

Argentina are now second in the table with six points separating them from high flyers Brazil while Colombia occupy fifth place.

Benzema injury LATEST, Van de Beek out for Holland, Ben White called up to England Euro 2020 squad

KARIM BENZEMA has handed world champs France a scare by limping off injured in their 3-0 Euro 2020 warm-up win over Bulgaria. The striker appeared to be hurt following a challenge with Bulgarian defender Ivan Turitsov during the first half.
The veteran tried to play on but soon went down and signalled he could not continue as he hobbled off favouring his right knee in the 37th minute at the Stade de France.
Meanwhile Man Utd’s Donny van de Beek has been ruled out of the entire tournament for Holland.
The Dutch are already without injured captain Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Jesper Cillessen, who tested positive for Covid.
And on the home front, Gareth Southgate has confirmed Ben White will replace the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold in his 26-man England squad.

Follow all of the latest news, build up and updates below…
    FO PROBLEM
Phil Foden has thanked Gareth Southgate for his shot at redemption after being sent home in disgrace from England duty last autumn.
The Manchester City maestro was punished for breaking Covid restrictions when he and Mason Greenwood smuggled two Icelandic beauty queens into a Reykjavik hotel room.
And starlet Foden admitted that ‘not many managers’ would have forgiven him so swiftly, as he prepares to start in Sunday’s Euros opener against Croatia.
    Credit: Getty
Speaking publicly about it for the first time, Foden said: “Obviously I made a massive mistake but Gareth said if I keep doing well and keep performing I should get another opportunity.
“So I had to work hard for it and there are not many managers who would give you another opportunity so I have to thank Gareth a lot for giving me another chance.”
    Credit: EPA
The striker appeared to be hurt following a challenge with Bulgarian defender Ivan Turitsov during the first half.
The veteran tried to play on but soon went down and signalled he could not continue as he hobbled off favouring his right knee in the 37th minute at the Stade de France.

    STERLING EFFORT
Raheem Sterling is going into the Euros with a smile on his face despite Manchester City’s Champions League defeat.
The forward claims he has put the loss in Porto behind him and is excited ahead of Sunday’s opener against Croatia at Wembley.
    Credit: Getty
The England attacker said: “Honestly, I can’t wait. I actually can’t wait. It’s been a long season but I’m here with England now.
“It’s been a good season with Man City, we’ve won some trophies. I am disappointed that we didn’t get the Champions League.
“I’m playing at Wembley, the team’s playing at Wembley.
“For me, this is what dreams are made of and I’m just going into this with a lovely mindset.”
    EURO VAN
Holland will get a helping hand from Virgil van Dijk at Euro 2020 despite the Liverpool star’s injury absence.
Out of action since October due to an serious knee ligament injury, the 29-year-old will not feature on the pitch for his country.
But he has reportedly answered the call to form part of Frank de Boer’s backroom team.
Van Dijk will offer his insight as an unofficial member of staff throughout the competition.

    POLES APART
Poland’s final warm-up game ahead of Euro 2020 is certainly not going to plan.
With just over ten minutes remaining, Poland are losing 2-1 at home to Iceland.
Johann Gudmundsson opened the scoring for the visitors before Piotr Zielinski levelled for Poland.
But Birkir Bjarnason’s 47th minute goal has Iceland on course for a confidence-boosting win.
    TV TIMES
Euro 2020 is almost here and the TV games have been announced.
ITV and BBC have revealed which England matches they’ll be showing, plus all other fixtures.

    ENTRY LEVEL
Vaccine passports can be used to get into England’s Euro 2020 group matches in a major move backed by the Government.
Fans seeking to attend the games against Croatia, Scotland and the Czech Republic at Wembley will have to show the NHS app confirming they have received both Covid jabs at least 14 days before or a negative lateral flow test taken within 48 hours of the game.
But a successful use of the technology starting on Sunday will allow bigger crowds to attend the knock-out stages and could see more than 45,000 at the Final next month.
The Government, FA and Uefa have agreed to cap crowds at 22,500 for the three group matches, 25 per cent of Wembley’s capacity.
It is hoped that the passport scheme will be a trailblazer for other sporting events and lead to full crowds in the Prem from the start of next season.
In an email sent to ticket holders, the regulations have been laid out.
They state: “All ticket holders aged 11 and older must present evidence that they are at a low-risk of transmitting Covid-19 to enter Wembley Stadium. Failure to do so will mean you’re unable to attend the match.”
    EURO SLASH
England can win a maximum £24.29m in prize money at Euro 2020 – after Uefa and national associations agreed a cash cut.
The initial prize money budget for the tournament planned a total pot of £319m.
But with the Covid crisis causing a delay and crowds limited as a result of the pandemic, Uefa has now slashed the prize pool to £284.55m.
England, like the other 23 qualified nations, will get a minimum payment of £8m.
But the group stage prize money has been reduced from £1.29m per win (half that for a draw), to £860,000 for each victory and half for a draw.
Qualifying for the last-16 is now worth £1.29m, down from the original £1.72m.
Quarter-finalists will now receive an additional £2.15m, compared to the planned £2.8m.
Reaching the semis will net the FA an extra £3.44m, 25 per cent less than the initial figure of £4.3m.
And the winners and runners up will now receive £6.88m and £4.3m respectively.
    CAL OF DUTY
Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi has hinted that he is open to switching his international allegiance to Ghana in the future.
The 20-year-old is still eligible to represent the West African nation despite being capped three times at senior level by England.
As reported by Joy Sports, he said: “I think obviously when you’re young, you have the opportunity to play for England throughout all the years, from under 15 to under 16 all the way up.
“When they obviously gave me the opportunity to come I was in the country already.
“It’s something that I already had in my mind, set on already playing for England.”
“So it was the thing obviously choosing Ghana or England, and at the end of the day I said I always had the right people around me who always advise me – what’s right, what’s wrong. England came and I said ‘Yeah, let me go and play for my country.
“But I said Ghana is my home as well, so we’ll see, we’ll see. You’ll never know, so.”
    GER JOKING
England put their penalty shootout demons behind them in Russia to beat Colombia – but they are set to return against the Germans AGAIN this summer.
Before that, though, the Three Lions will dump out both Spain and Portugal in the knockout stages.
That is according to predictions from a supercomputer that has churned out the results for the whole of Euro 2020, as reported by talkSPORT.
And it spells more semi-final heartbreak for Gareth Southgate.
    Read more HERE.
    LIONS READY TO ROAR
Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling are set to ‘explode’ into life for England at this summer’s European Championship, according to Roy Keane.
He said: “Sometimes you look at players who have had a quiet spell; quiet because they’ve set such high standards.
    “Rashford and Sterling, for example.
“But I think that is a good thing. You’re going into the tournament going ‘these lads are ready to explode’.
“Gareth [Southgate] definitely likes Rashford and Sterling.”
    PAUL THE OTHER ONE
Paul Gascoigne has revealed that he brutally snubbed Chelsea in 1995 when he left Lazio for Rangers.
He told talkSPORT: “I remember speaking to [then Lazio boss] Dino Zoff and asking him what clubs were interested in me at the time and he said Chelsea.
“I said ‘I ain’t going there, what’s the other one?’ He replied Aston Villa.
“And I said I ain’t going there either, and then he said Rangers. So I’m walking out of the door and I turned around and said ‘I ain’t going to Queens Park Rangers’.
“No, Glasgow Rangers. I slammed the door and said to Dino get them over quickly.
“I remember [Rangers boss] Walter Smith turning up and going ‘let me tell you about the club’.
“I went ‘no, let me tell you what I’ve got in the fridge…. and I came out with two Budweisers. He said ‘you’re signing, aren’t you?!'”
    PAUL YOUR HAIR OUT
Phil Foden paid tribute to Paul Gascoigne by recreating the England icon’s famous haircut from Euro 96.
The Manchester City star has fans hoping the new look will help him inspire the Three Lions this summer the way Gazza did 25 years ago.
Foden – who has already been compared to Gascoigne in terms of playing style – took things to a new level by unveiling his fresh trim for the Euros.
Ahead of England’s first Group D game against Croatia on Sunday, the 21-year-old revealed he has bleached his usually dark locks blonde.
And in case any fans were in doubt about the Gascoigne reference, Foden captioned a picture on his Instagram story: “Euro 96 vibes.”

    WHITE HOT
Ben White was travelling home to Brighton on Sunday night when he got THE phone call.
Gareth Southgate’s name appeared on the screen.
The central defender had left Middlesbrough in a car provided by the FA and was 90 minutes into the 300-mile journey south.
Yet after a quick conversation, which White will remember for the rest of his life, he mentally tore up his list of potential holiday destinations and turned his attention to Wembley.
Then, he prepared for a quick turnaround in Brighton before heading to St. George’s Park this morning to meet up with his new international team-mates.
After a jubilant phone call to his parents, Carole and Barry, the rest of the trip to the seaside on Sunday flew by as his head was now firmly in the clouds.
    TOP OF THE BIL
EXCLUSIVE – Sam Johnstone is so chilled he would treat the Euros exactly like a night game at Barnsley.
At least that is what Slaven Bilic believes following the keeper’s classy England debut in Sunday’s 1-0 friendly win over Romania.
Bilic said: “Sam is not a loud guy. He is very calm and doesn’t speak a lot. He is one of those guys that gives you confidence with his calmness.
“He is relaxed but not sleepy. He is totally in a zone and in the beginning I was telling him to be louder.
“But after that, I noticed he is one of those who can calm a team down with his attitude. He is not fazed. For him it would be the same if it were a Monday night in Barnsley or a match at Euro 2020.
“It comes from your character but also from when you are at a big club and always being scrutinised.”
    RAM READY
Aaron Ramsey has declared he is raring to go for Wales ahead of Euro 2020.
Speaking of repeated injuries during his time at Juventus, he said: “It’s been a frustrating couple of years to try and get any consistency going. Different environments, different methods and things like that.
“It’s not something I’ve been used to because I was at one club for a very long time and I think adapting to that took a lot longer.
“I’ve had to change a few things but now I feel like I’m in a good place. I’ve definitely worked hard over the last few months to get my body back into a good place.
“I’m a proud Welshman who wants to play for Wales and help my team as much as I can. For me to have missed a few games over the last few years has been very frustrating and difficult for me.
“Hopefully now that’s behind me and I can look forward to all these games in the European Championships.”
    ROO MOON RISING
Wayne Rooney will make his playing comeback in the 2021 edition of Soccer Aid.
The popular charity match is set to take place on Saturday, September 4 in front of what could be a full house at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
The Derby manager, 35, was part of the England coaching team in last year’s match as fans raised a record £9.3million for Unicef.
And he will feature alongside Manchester United alumni Paul Scholes and Gary Neville plus Jamie Redknapp, Fara Williams, David James, Ashley Cole, Kelly Smith and Emile Heskey for the home team.
Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt is signed up to the World XI side with Roberto Carlos and Patrice Evra.
Rooney said: “Pulling on an England shirt is always special, so I’m absolutely delighted to be doing that again in Soccer Aid for Unicef this September.”
    THE REAL DON
Man Utd midfielder Donny van de Beek has been ruled out of Euro 2020 through injury.
The Dutch international’s injury caps off a difficult season where he has struggled first starts under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
A statement from the Holland National team said: “Donny van de Beek misses EURO 2020. Van de Beek has to let the European Championship pass by.
“The midfielder is struggling with an injury. As a result, he is not available in time for EURO 2020.
“Frank de Boer will not call a replacement for Van de Beek. Get well soon, Donny!”
    GOLDEN BOY
Harry Kane is dreaming of a stunning Euro 2020 trophy double as the England captain wants to lead his country to victory in the final at Wembley on July 11.
And he is also on a mission to add to his personal collection of gongs by once again bagging the Golden Boot.
He said: “As a striker, if you are scoring, you are helping the team. That’s always my aim — and to win.
“Of course, I’d love to win another Golden Boot. More importantly, I’d love to be lifting that Euros trophy.
“Whatever way we get there, whether it’s me scoring or others, it doesn’t bother me as long as we are winning games.
“That’s why we play football on the hihest stage, to be involved in the biggest games. Once most guys are on the pitch, instinct takes over.”
    BOO ARE YA?
Rio Ferdinand has slammed fans who boo England players taking the knee as ‘ignorant’.
A number of supporters at the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 warm-up friendlies jeered the pre-game gesture.
Ferdinand told his YouTube channel: “These fans, these ignorant people going to these games, they haven’t got a clue.
“They don’t know what the players are kneeling for. It’s not a political stance.
“All these people saying, ‘BLM is a political movement’ – [the knee] is nothing to do with [BLM]. So take that out of your mind.”
    MAKING THEIR MARC
England star Marcus Rashford believes that the Three Lions’ squad players can add an extra ‘spark’ to the first XI.
The Man United forward is one of a number of attacking players vying for a place, and he believes that everyone will contribute.
He said: “Don’t get me wrong, everybody wants to be in the first XI – but I think from my experience of being in tournaments you need a squad.
“You have to have players capable of coming on at different moments and giving that extra spark. I think in our squad we have that all over the pitch, so to be honest it (starting against Croatia) is not at the front of my mind.
“We go there as a squad that’s trying to win a tournament. Whether or not you’re starting in the first XI you’ve still got a massive role to play if we want to win the tournament.
“You’re being deluded if you expect 11 players to win seven games – and you’re playing games in a short space of time. The squad’s going have to be utilised and to be honest I’m excited and looking forward to it.”

    GERMANY 7 LATVIA 1
Germany battered minnows Latvia in their final Euro 2020 warm-up match last night.
Joachim Low’s side go into the tournament full of confidence after dismantling the 138th placed side in the Fifa Rankings.
Atalanta star Robin Gosens got the goal-fest started in the 19th minute – with Ilkay Gundogan and Thomas Muller strikes making it 3-0 before the half-hour mark.
A Robert Ozols own goal swiftly made it four, before Serge Gnabry put Die Mannschaft 5-0 up on the stroke of half-time.
Timo Werner and Leroy Sane efforts put the Germans 7-0 up, although Aleksejs Saveljevs grabbed a consolation with 15 minutes remaining.

    PRICE IS WHITE
Manchester United and Arsenal have been warned that England star Ben White will cost £50million, according to reports.
And to do so, the Daily Mail say the Seagulls have slapped a £50m price tag on the Dorset-born defender.
United continue their hunt for a long-term partner for Harry Maguire with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to cement a solid defensive pairing this summer.
And Arsenal have lost David Luiz so may well be on the hunt for a new centre-back – but cannot offer European football next term.
Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Roma, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund have all also been linked with White.

    HIGHWAY TO VAL
Ex-Manchester United striker James Wilson has signed for Port Vale.
The forward spent last season at League Two Salford City – who are owned by the Class of ‘92.
Wilson, 25, found the net seven times for the Ammies but he was released after they missed out on promotion.
Now he will be hoping to go one better by firing Port Vale into the third tier over the coming 12 months.
The Valiants confirmed his arrival earlier today, announcing the ace had penned a two-year contract.
    WAYNE’S WORLD
Wayne and Coleen Rooney managed to get away on holiday just before Covid restrictions tightened – joined by a string of former team-mates and their wives.
The Rooneys were pictured smiling during a sunshine break in Portugal where the pair holidayed with three of Wayne’s old pals.
Among those was Leicester star Jonny Evans – club-mate of Jamie Vardy whose wife Rebekah is locked in a Wag war with Coleen.
Coleen flew out last week with husband Wayne, 35, days before the country was moved back on to the amber list by the UK Government.
The pair were later joined by Evans and his wife Helen McConnell, ex-Manchester United star Ashley Young and partner Nicky Pike, as well as Tom Cleverley and wife Georgina.
The Rooneys jetted off with old team-mates Jonny Evans, Tom Cleverly, Ashley Young and their families
    OOH FRIENDS

    THAT’S SAUL FOLKS
Atletico Madrid have reportedly offered Saul Niguez in exchange for Manchester City ace Bernardo Silva in a blow to Manchester United.
The Red Devils have long targeted the Spanish midfielder.
But Atletico’s desire to sign Silva could send Saul to United’s rivals.
Saul Niguez recently celebrated winning his first LaLiga title

Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling are set to ‘explode’ into life for England at this summer’s European Championship, according to Roy Keane.

    LOVE CRUZ
    Simply irresistible…
Melanie Da Cruz, 30, is the gorgeous wife of Manchester United and France forward Anthony Martial.
The blonde bombshell made her name on French TV and has been dating the Red Devils star since 2016.
However, their romance began in controversial circumstances when Martial dumped his then girlfriend Samantha Jacquelinet in 2016 and soon shacked up with Da Cruz.
In 2018, they welcomed their first child together – a boy called Swan.
However, just months after Da Cruz gave birth Martial was alleged to have cheated on her with a French model.

    PAUL OF DUTY
What a goal this was from Paul Pogba against Fulham earlier in the season.

    JUMP ON JACK
Man City want to sign Aston Villa star Jack Grealish this summer, according to reports.
Pep Guardiola is eager to strengthen his side, following their Champions League final disappointment.
Finding a new striker to replace Sergio Aguero is key to City’s agenda.
But securing Grealish’s signature is of ‘equal’ importance, according to ESPN.
They also claim that Guardiola is insistent that City must pounce on Grealish ahead of rivals Manchester United, should Villa be willing to do business.
The Midlanders are believed to value their captain at around £100million.
City have been ‘encouraged’ that a deal could be done by Villa’s £33m acquisition of Norwich’s fellow creator Emi Buendia.
    CHRIS OF LIFE
Former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling and his wife are convinced they spotted a UFO in Jamaica.
Smalling’s partner Sam revealed their experience on Instagram that started: “‘Ok so I promise we weren’t on magic mushrooms or anything but me and @smalling saw the craziest UFO last night!
“Not like a quick few seconds sighting of something high in the sky that could have enough a plane!
“It flew down low past us and then turned and shot back high up in the sky where it stayed for an hour (maybe longer but we had to leave) it was too small to get on film when it stayed stationed in the sky although Chris could see it rotating with lights flashing all around it, (I could only see the outer lights at this point as my eyes aren’t as good).
“We could have got it on camera when it was flying by us as it was clear to see but we were both too gobsmacked to get our cameras out.
“Plus we didn’t want to look away and miss whatever it was. It looked massive. It didn’t look like your typical ufo sightings. It was totally silent.”

    CRIS OF DEATH
Manchester United have failed in their £39m bid to land Cristian Romero, reports say.
Italian club Atalanta are holding out for £52m for the Argentine defender.
Tuttosport in Italy claim that Romero, 23, is not ‘indispensable’ to the Serie A side and they could look to sell.
The report also adds that negotiations aren’t currently active but United are lining up a bid.
The Italian side are reportedly planning to make Romero’s from Juventus permanent for £21.5m before cashing in on his services.
They could then look to sell Romero for £39m and make a huge profit.
And the Red Devils are said to be leading the race for the Argentina international’s signature.

    POG-BANG!
A strike definitely worth reliving, Man United fans!
Here is your goal of thew day.

    JUVE GOT CHOICES
Cristiano Ronaldo’s representatives have reportedly contacted Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain over a potential summer switch.
The 36-year-old is continuing discussions with his club Juventus and has just a year left on his deal there.
But according to ESPN his team are ‘continuing to gauge interest from some of Europe’s top clubs’.
Ronaldo scored 36 goals in 44 games in all competitions for Juve last season, but the Italian giants finished 13 points behind champs Inter Milan.
They only guaranteed a Champions League spot on the final game of the season with a 4-1 win away at Bologna.
And while the Old Lady did win the Coppa Italia, it is expected new boss Massimiliano Allegri will switch up his squad this summer.
ESPN adds that Ronaldo’s team have spoken to Allegri, but that no decision on his future will be made until after Euro 2020 where he captains Portugal.
Cristiano Ronaldo won the Coppa Italia with Juventus – but could make a move this summer
    PRICE IS WHITE
Manchester United and Arsenal have been warned Ben White will cost £50million, according to reports.

    GOOD MORNING RED DEVILS FANS
Manchester United are rumoured to be getting closer to signing Jadon Sancho, with reports suggesting the German club will now accept £80million for the England winger.
They are also believed to be keen on signing Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier, although Arsenal’s alleged interest could scupper a potential deal for the right-back.
And the Red Devils have been linked with England U16 captain Josh Feeney from Fleetwood Town, with Aston Villa also said to be monitoring the youngster.
United and England fans alike will be delighted to see Harry Maguire running again in training, yet he remains a doubt for the Euros opener against Croatia.
One United player who is more confident about playing this summer is Paul Pogba, who believes France are in with a great chance of winning the tournament.
Pogba told Eurosport: “We have a PlayStation team but it will remain a PlayStation team if we don’t win a trophy.
“Being world champions and having a team like that, we will be expected to do even more.
“We must remain humble. I want to give this message: it’s not a foregone conclusion. We hear a lot of talk but we keep our feet on the ground.”
    XCLUSIVE – KEN LAWRENCE
Daniel Levy will demand a cash-only deal for star striker Harry Kane.
The Tottenham chairman wants at least £150million for his England captain – if he is prepared to let him leave at all, that is.
But he is definitely not interested in ‘cast-offs’ as part of a player-exchange deal for the 27-year-old.

    EXCLUSIVE – TEDDY SHERINGHAM INTERVIEW
When we think of Euro ’96, several beautiful images come to mind – Gazza’s goal, Pearce’s penalty and all of the win against Holland.
But two unpleasant images pop up too – one being a heartbroken Gareth Southgate after his penalty miss in the semi-final against Germany.
And, from a month or so before that, the photos of the infamous night out in Hong Kong.
Teddy Sheringham, his clothes inexplicably in shreds, was one of many faces staring out of our front pages along with a spirit-soaked Gazza, obviously enjoying an almighty pre-tournament bender.

    GOOD STINT FOR ETHAN
Ethan Laird has been discussing his future following his recent loan spell at MK Dons.
The 19-year-old defender made 24 League One appearances for the Buckinghamshire side after making the move in January.
Speaking about his future to the club’s media team, Laird said: “Who knows, I can’t really give you a set answer on my future just yet, but I know that my long-term aim is to establish myself with United.
“Let’s just see what happens in the summer.”
    WHEN ROONEY RULED EUROPE
It’s been SEVENTEEN years since Wayne Rooney took international football by storm at Euro 2004.
The then 18-year-old scored four goals and got England fans dreaming of glory with some superb performances – persuading Alex Ferguson to sign him for United.
Injury in the quarter-final against Portugal ended his nation’s chances – but most still remember it as Rooney’s finest summer in an England shirt.

    ICYMI – CAPTAIN RASHFORD
Marcus Rashford captained England for the first time today in their Euro 2020 warm up match against Romania.
And the 23-year-old marked the occasion with a second-half goal from the penalty spot.
He is the 11th player to be granted the honour by Gareth Southgate.
Captain Harry Kane was rested for Sunday’s match, allowing Rashford to don the armband in his 41st England cap.
Luke Shaw also featured in the match as did transfer target Jadon Sancho, but Harry Maguire was absent once more.

    WAG TO RICHES
David Wagner is on the brink of replacing Sam Allardyce as West Brom’s new boss.
The 49-year-old German reportedly put pen-to-paper on a deal, ending the Baggies’ search for a new manager.
Wagner impressed at Huddersfield, where he won promotion to the Premier League following a play-off penalty shoot-out win against Reading at Wembley in 2018.
He was also crowned the Championship manager of the year for his achievements.
Wagner then topped that by keeping the Terriers in the Premier League despite the odds being stacked against them.
Chris Wilder held talks with the Baggies but Wagner is poised to return to English football.

Billy Gilmour is considering a loan move from Chelsea to give his career a kick-start.
The Scotland midfielder has played just two-and-a-half Premier League games since new head coach Thomas Tuchel took over in January.
It was feared the lack of match time would end up costing him a place with the Scots at Euro 2020 at one point.
The teenager has been hailed as one of the brightest talents to emerge from Chelsea’s academy in recent years.

And he is now pondering whether to follow in the footsteps of team-mate Mason Mount by heading out for a season to mature and play more first team football.
Gilmour hopes a good showing at the Euros will attract a top flight club to offer a loan spell with the realistic chance of more game time.
    STERLING EFFORT
Raheem Sterling is going into the Euros with a smile on his face despite Manchester City’s Champions League defeat.
The forward claims he has put the loss in Porto behind him and is excited ahead of Sunday’s opener against Croatia at Wembley.

The 27-year-old told My Football: “It’s definitely been the hardest year of my football career.
“The injuries just kept coming and I couldn’t find the answers. But I found strength in myself I didn’t know I had and also strength in my relationships with the people around me.
“I learnt to lean on people and overall I feel like I’ve come out the other side of it all a much better athlete.
“I’m better at preparing, I feel stronger physically and mentally and just have a real appreciation for being out on the field every day doing what I love.
“I’m feeling really good. My body feels strong and I’ve been back on the field for the last few months now so I’ve got a good amount of load back there too.
“But mentally I feel really fresh and just excited to be on the field every single day.”
    SHAQ YER BAGS
Xherdan Shaqiri is set to quit Liverpool this summer with Lazio interested, according to reports.
The Swiss midfielder, 29, has been little more than a bit-part player under Jurgen Klopp in recent seasons.
And now Shaqiri could finally quit Anfield with Lazio set to swoop if Maurizio Sarri takes over at the Italian giants.
Lazio are currently without a boss after Simone Inzaghi took over from Antonio Conte at Inter Milan.
Sarri has been out of work since leaving Juventus after just one season, in 2019-20.

    HEC OF A MOVE

Bielsa gave a blunt ‘no’ when asked by SunSport towards the end of the season if he had any holiday plans this summer.
And, true to his word, the 65-year-old has remained in Yorkshire to pass on his wisdom on to a group of local kids.
Bielsa was spotted putting them through their paces on Monday night – though how they understood his broken English is anyone’s guess.
Fan @Tonylufc28 tweeted: “He’s just an incredible human being. He’s here for the long term, that’s for sure. Feel blessed to have him at our club.”
While another supporter wrote: “Quality from Bielsa. I bet that was one of the best training sessions them lads will have. The man lives and breathes football and is a genius.”

“We will never sell him and he will never leave on a free. Mbappe has everything he needs in Paris.”
But according to Spanish TV station El Chiringuito, Mbappe is not impressed with what he heard.
And they report that Real Madrid now thing the 22-year-old will NOT renew his contact with PSG.
According to The Times, Atletico are willing to send club stalwart Saul in a direct swap for City star Silva – in a move that could benefit both clubs in terms of Financial Fair Play.

But according to CBS Sports reporter James Benge, the Londoners have shortlisted an alternative in Calhanoglu, 27.
He posted on Twitter: “Arsenal still retain strong interest in Martin Odegaard.
“What sort of deal can be done there [if any] will depend on decision of new Real Madrid coaching staff and Florentino Perez.
“Another target who Arsenal are understood to have broached internally is Hakan Calhanoglu, out of contract with AC Milan this summer.
“He is an option, not clear how high on the list he might be but expectation is he’s an alternative to Odegaard.”
Hakan Calhanoglu is reportedly on Arsenal’s shortlist this summer

    DAN AND DUSTED
Dani Ceballos has dealt Arsenal a blow by ruling out a return to the Emirates.
The Spanish midfielder has spent the last two seasons on loan in North London from Real Madrid.
He made 25 Premier League appearances and scored three goals this season, but it looks like they could be his last games for the Gunners.
Speaking on Spanish radio station El Larguero, the 24-year-old said: “[Mikel] Arteta is a coach who I am sure will be one of the best in the world in the next few years.
“But I would like to return to the Spanish league.”
    TAM PLAN
Chelsea are reportedly considering offering Borussia Dortmund Tammy Abraham as part of a player-plus-cash transfer offer for Erling Haaland.
The Blues want to bring in a new striker when the market reopens this summer.
And Dortmund ace Haaland, 20, is among their top priorities.
Talks have already taken place regarding a possible switch to Stamford Bridge for more than £150million.
However, The Times state the West Londoners may be tempted to try and include Abraham in any deal.
They value their academy graduate at around £40m.
So offering Abraham would both reduce the transfer fee Chelsea must pay as well as giving Dortmund somewhat of a replacement No9.

    SPURRED OFF
Tottenham stars reportedly had ‘reservations’ about Antonio Conte’s potential arrival last week, because of his ‘extreme and demanding’ methods.
The Italian was in talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, as the North Londoners look to finally replace sacked Jose Mourinho.
Conte, 51, was happy to come to the club and there were ‘no issues’ with the salary he was being offered.
The former Chelsea boss impressed Spurs chiefs with his vision for getting the players fit again and improving them defensively.
But the move broke down over the lack of transfer funds that would be at his disposal. This may, however, come as a relief to some of the players.
According to The Athletic, some Spurs stars were concerned over how hard they’d be pushed by Conte.
They had heard from pals at other clubs just how much he pushes his teams, and that he pays ‘little attention’ to utilising clubs’ academies or developing young players.

    BAR-KING MAD
Barcelona are plotting a sensational FIVE-PLAYER raid of Manchester City, according to reports.
The LaLiga giants have already turned to Pep Guardiola’s squad to sign Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero on free transfers.
But after missing out on Georginio Wijnaldum – with Paris Saint-Germain winning the race for the free agent – Barca are set to turn back to City with FIVE Etihad stars in sight.
To fill the void of Wijnaldum, Spanish outlets El Chiringuito TV and Sport have claimed Ronald Koeman wants in-form Ilkay Gundogan.
El Chiringuito TV even claims Barcelona have met with the agents of both Gundogan AND Riyad Mahrez after their sensational seasons.
Madrid-based Sky Sports journalist Matteo Moretto has claimed Barcelona are pondering a move for Raheem Sterling.
And Sport have also claimed Barcelona are in the market for Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus in a staggering raid of City.
