    ROY OF THE ROVERS

Keane said: “I went over pre-season and was obviously doing a lot of training with the reserves.
“Forest had played their first league game at home on the Saturday against QPR and I went to watch it, and I was on the bench for the reserves on the Monday night.
“I got on for the last ten minutes and the first-team were playing Liverpool on the Tuesday night.
“Went out that night with the players, as you do after a reserve match, I didn’t drink too much – maybe six, seven pints after the game. Came in on the Tuesday and was told ‘get dressed up’.”

Maguire said: “I know everyone wants to play well and create numerous chances but teams are well drilled and organised.
“It’s not all perfect, we can improve but you can’t argue with seven points from three games.
“Can we play better? Of course we can. Will we improve? We will do everything we can to improve.
“The fundamentals are there and now we’ve got to tidy up in every part of our game when we’re on the ball and there is a little bit more we can get out of each other and push each other.
“If we are going to progress in this tournament we’re going to have to do that.”

    LONG-TERM FUTURE

One place van de Beek is being linked with a move to is Italy.
But FCInterNews say Inter Milan are unlikely to make an approach for the player, ruling them out.

    MOURINHO’S MAGUIRE ASSESSMENT
Former Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho assessed Harry Maguire’s return to football.
He said: “I keep saying when you have an option to take 26 players, you have to risk, gamble and take an injured player if the player deserves that. Maguire is one of those players.
“He was confident, he was stable, he was intelligent, read the game well, and has a good partnership with [John] Stones.
“[Tyrone] Mings is doing a fantastic job, you could feel he was happy to come in for 10 or 15 minutes, he is a team player.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the next game is against Germany, the way they play with three at the back – I wouldn’t be surprised if England went with Stones, Maguire and Mings at the back.”

Man Utd need to try and close the gap on league winners and city rivals Man City

    GOOD MORNING RED DEVILS FANS
Sergio Ramos has told former Real Madrid team-mates that he is going to join Paris Saint-Germain, reports suggest.
Manchester United, Manchester City and PSG have all been monitoring the Spain international after his Los Blancos deal expired.
According to Tiempo de Juego, however, the legendary defender has told other Real players that he is on his way to Paris.
Reports suggested that Ramos has been prioritising the French giants, who have offered him a deal that is ‘financially superior’ to what the two Manchester clubs have proposed.
But if negotiations collapse, then the former Real captain would prefer to join United over City.
Meanwhile, Man Utd are reportedly chasing Euro 2020 record breaker Kacper Kozlowski.
Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Red Devils are set to rival Serie A giants Cagliari and Juventus in the race to sign the young Pole.
The report adds that Barcelona have also expressed an interest but it is Borussia Dortmund that are leading the race for Kozlowski.
The 17-year-old became the youngest player ever to appear at the Euros after coming on against Spain.
Kozlowski broke England star Jude Bellingham’s record, which lasted just SIX days, when he appeared last week aged 17 years and 246 days
Finally, Kingsley Coman’s agent and family are trying to force a move to England following rumoured interest from Manchester United.
Sport 1 journalist Florian Plettenberg said: “Update [on] Coman: Bosses are sure that [Kingsley Coman] wants to extend.
“But they know that his father, Benoit Menye (family’s friend) & (agent Pini) Zahavi are forcing his move to [England].
“A boss from [Man Utd] told me: ‘We do not comment on rumours. We have scouts all over the world & Coman is very talented.’”

Jose Mourinho thinks Bruno Fernandes has gone missing for Portugal and wants more from the Manchester United star.
SunSport’s columnist Jose told TalkSport: “Portugal at its highest level can beat anyone.
“But we need to play with eleven players, in these two matches Bruno Fernandes was on the pitch but not playing.
“I hope he turns up against France, because he’s a player with incredible potential.
“He can pass, he can score. He can get penalties, he can score penalties, he can score free-kicks.
“He has a lot to give, but the reality is in these two matches he was not there.”

    KING SIZE
Kingsley Coman’s agent and family are trying to force a move to England following rumoured interest from Manchester United.

    WHERE THERE’S A WILL
Man Utd defender Brandon Williams is a loan target for Newcastle and Southampton.
The versatile full-back barely featured last term following the arrival of Alex Telles.
And playing time could become even more scarce if United land top target Kieran Trippier, with Diogo Dalot also returning from AC Milan.

    ENGLAND TEAM
Harry Maguire, Bukayo Saka and Jack Grealish get their first starts of the Euros for England tonight.
The trio are in Gareth Southgate’s XI to take on Czech Republic, with Kyle Walker also returning to the fold.
But there is NO Phil Foden in the match squad, while Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell are self-isolating.

    SAN-BLOW
Jadon Sancho will reportedly be denied the iconic No7 shirt at Manchester United should he join from Borussia Dortmund.
The number is currently worn by Edinson Cavani, who is reluctant to give it up.
The Express claims that’s because Cavani’s preferred jersey, the No9, is with Anthony Martial.
And he too is unwilling to budge, with Sancho instead likely to take Marcos Rojo’s No16 after his return to Argentina.

Sport1 claims the Borussia Dortmund is being lined up to take over when Lewandowski’s contract expires next year.
Haaland is a major target for Chelsea this summer and will command a huge fee, reportedly worth £150million.
But with a £64m release clause kicking in after the 21/22 campaign, Bayern are hoping to land Haaland for a bargain price.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan have completed the shock signing of Hakan Calhanoglu from fierce rivals AC Milan.
The Turkish playmaker has joined Simone Inzaghi’s side on a free transfer after his Milan contract expired.
It is sure to ruffle Rossoneri feathers, with Calhanoglu set to continue at the San Siro but in different colours.
Finally, PSG are tipped to offer David Luiz a shock free transfer return.
Marseille and Rennes have already been linked with the former Brazil centre-back, 34, after Arsenal released him.
And Brazilian top-flight clubs are queuing up for the ex-Chelsea star.
Now French magazine Le10 Sport say PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is making moves behind the scenes to re-sign the 57-cap defender.
But it’s claimed PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino, plus sporting director Leonardo, are still unsure over Luiz.

But if negotiations collapse, then the former Real captain would prefer to join United over City.

    BRIGHT IDEA
Arsenal are edging closer to signing Ben White – leaving William Saliba pondering his Emirates’ future.
The Gunners remain favourites to land Brighton’s England centre-back White, despite having an initial £40million offer rejected.
Now football.london suggest France Under-20 defender Saliba is ‘assessing his options’.
The 20-year-old has already been loaned back to Saint-Etienne, as well as Nice.

    THAT’S IT FROM ME
And that’s it from Scotland at Euro 2020.
It’s been tough, emotional and at times frustrating.
But there have been cheers and there has been many-a-boogie woogie.
And that can’t be a bad thing.

    STAT’S DAMNING
Here is the night in numbers for Scotland.
It doesn’t make great reading, but facts they are, nonetheless.

Scotland have been eliminated at the group stages in all 11 of their appearances at major tournaments (EUROs & World Cup).
Scotland have lost consecutive matches at Hampden Park for the first time since September 2019 against Russia and Belgium.
Croatia beat Scotland for the very first time in what was the sixth match between the two sides.
Callum McGregor became the first Scottish player to score at the EUROs since June 18th, 1996, when Ally McCoist scored against Switzerland.
Scotland had gone 46 shots without scoring in the competition.

    MATCH REPORT
Heartbroken Scotland added another glorious failure to their extensive catalogue of hard luck stories as they waved goodbye to the Euros, writes MARK IRWIN.
Turns out they can’t boogie all night long after all.
But it took a special goal from a special player to end their dreams of making it to the knock-out stages of a major international tournament for the first time.
Luka Modric might be three months short of his 36th birthday but has lost none of the magic which won him the Ballon D’Or three years ago.
And just when it was looking as if it might be the 2018 World Cup finalists heading for an early exit, it was the little maestro who guided his country to qualification.
His 62nd minute goal, curled into the top corner with the outside of his right boot, was a thing of beauty to settle this winner-takes-all clash.
And Scotland’s fate was well and truly sealed quarter of an hour later when Modric’s corner was glanced in off the far post by Ivan Perisic.
It was a bitter pill to swallow for Steve Clarke and his team, who ran themselves into the ground in pursuit of the victory which would have clinched their place in the promised land of the last 16.
    BROWN ON SCOTS
The former Celtic midfielder has his say on how he saw Scotland’s performance tonight.
These bunch of lads have done themselves proud, getting to a Euros, it’s something I’ve never done.
It just wasn’t to be, we didn’t create the chances.
Modric was fantastic, Croatia played really well and were calm and clear on the ball.
He’s a tactician that scores a wondergoal as well at the end.Scott BrownFormer Scotland midfielder
    PERISIC GOAL
Here is Ivan Perisic’s glancing header to make it 3-1.

    WEE MOD-ICIAN
Here is how the Croatian creator’s touch map looked tonight.
Look how Luka Modric gets about the pitch and takes the ball, throw in a goal and an assist to boot.
    What a class act.

The numbers say a lot and Scotland were beaten by the better team tonight.

    FT: CROATIA 3-1 SCOTLAND
    CROATIA 3-1 SCOTLAND
    93. A big singalong from Scotland fans now in Hampden.
These are the dying few moments of a tough campaign, but the first campaign for 23 years.
Let’s hope it’s not another 23 years till the next one, please!
    SCORE UPDATE
It’s 1-0 to England in the other match in this group.
Jordan Henderson thought he had made it two, but was flagged for offside a few moments ago.
    CROATIA 3-1 SCOTLAND
    89. Kramaric does so well.
He runs at McKenna and forces the defender to touch the ball out of play.
Modric ambles over to take the corner, to some half-hearted boos.
His corner is played on the ground towards the penalty spot and there’s no pressure from Scotland shirts now.
The fight looks to have gone out of the home side.
    CROATIA 3-1 SCOTLAND
    87. Scotland not working the ball through midfield, but both flanks again.
They’re running the ball down some blind alleys though.
Croatia are getting men behind the ball, which is the right thing to do when the score is like this.
    KISSER FROM IVAN
Textbook glancing header from Croatia winger Ivan Perisic tonight.
He has been in cracking form at this Euros and along with Modric and Vlasic has torn Scotland to shreds.

    CROATIA 3-1 SCOTLAND
    83. Some teenage experience for Steve Clarke late on, then.
And it’s a question of what these lads can do to bring some energy and a different dynamic to the closing stages.

    DOUBLE SUB
    83. Che Adams is off and Kevin Nisbet is on.
Stephen O’Donnell is off and Nathan Patterson comes into the fold.
    CROATIA 3-1 SCOTLAND
    82. It’s a bit of keep ball for Croatia, who have packed the midfield.
Luka Modric has slowly pulled the strings as this game has gone on and he is available for any red and white shirt that want to find him.
In case you can’t tell, Modric has been a LITTLE bit good tonight.
    CROATIA 3-1 SCOTLAND
    80. Scotland have a corner and Robertson swings a decent one in.
McTominay is there, stretches, but the ball goes over the bar and doesn’t trouble Livakovic at all.
Scotland have a free kick in Croatia’s half, but the men in red and white are just putting men behind the ball and looking for a counter-attacking goal now.
    SUB
Ivan Perisic comes off after his headed goal and Ante Rebic is on.
    CROATIA 3-1 Scotland
Luka Modric swings a corner into the ideal area and Ivan Perisic times his run and glancing header to perfection.
The ball nestles inside the far post and Scotland’s Euros campaign is almost certainly over.
It’s the least they’ve deserved too, such a composed, sophisticated performance, to all the Scots’ bravado and intensity.
    GOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL!!!
IVAN PERISIC HITS THE FINAL NAIL INTO SCOTLAND’S COFFIN!!!
    SUB
Croatia bring on Ivanusec, who is 22, for Vlasic.

    CROATIA 2-1 SCOTLAND
    74. Lyndon Dykes is hobbling around looking pretty immobile at the moment.
In the meantime, Croatia are probing for a third and Kovacic tries a pop from distance, but it’s straight into Marshall’s bread basket.
Croatia have a corner though after good work from Kramaric.

    GIVE MOUR, GET MOUR
Jack Grealish, and Jude Bellingham MUST start for England against Czech Republic, according to SunSport columnist Jose Mourinho.
The Three Lions slipped to a poor, goalless draw against Scotland having beaten Croatia 1-0 in their opening game.

England’s final game in Group D will be Manchester United captain Maguire’s first since he sustained an ankle injury on May 9.

    DANGER-MAN
Patrik Schick trained on the Wembley turf last night. The Czech strike sensation – who co-leads the top scorers chart on three goals – will be aiming to add to his total tonight.
And remember one of those goals was from the half-way line against Scotland…

    IF ENGLAND LOSE TONIGHT
Should Southgate’s side slip up in their final group game and lose to the Czech Republic they could either finish second or third.
That depends if there is a winner from the Scotland vs Croatia clash.
Croatia cannot finish above England – as even if England lose and Croatia win, they would be level on four points and it would come down to head-to-head record, with England having won their meeting 1-0.
However, Scotland could still trump England.
If the Three Lions lose 1-0 against Czech Republic and Scotland beat Croatia 2-0, with both sides on four points and level on goal difference, the Scots would finish second due to having scored more goals.
If England do finish third in their group they could either play Belgium, Holland or Sweden as things stand.
    There are multiple possibilities, including:

    Holland vs 3D/E/F – 6pm, Sunday June 27, Budapest
    Belgium vs 3A/D/E/F – 9pm, Sunday June 27, Seville
    1E vs 3A/B/C/D – 9pm, Tuesday June 29, Glasgow

    IF ENGLAND DRAW TONIGHT
If England don’t beat the Czech Republic and draw, they will finish SECOND in Group D.
That means they will face the runners up in Group E, which is currently Slovakia – is this the worst draw in the world?
Sweden are currently top of Group E, and Spain and Slovakia can still mathematically win it as well, with the Swedes facing Poland in their final group game.

    2D vs 2E
    Monday, June 28 at 6pm
    Parken Stadium, Copenhagen

    IF ENGLAND WIN TONIGHT
With a victory, Gareth Southgate’s side will leapfrog the Czechs, who are leading Group D on goal difference.
As group winners England WOULD play in London against the second-placed team from Group F.
The problem is, that could be any of France, Germany or Portugal – and also Hungary.

    1D vs 2F
    Tuesday, June 29 at 6pm
    Wembley Stadium, London

    WHO WILL ENGLAND PLAY NEXT?
What happens next if England finish Group D 1st, 2nd or even third? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered…

    CHILWELL AND MOUNT BREAK SILENCE
Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount will have to self-isolate until June 28, and miss both tonight’s and the Last 16 tie.
The FA say they have taken the advice of Public Health England but this morning were left with no choice but to send the pair back to St George’s Park.
Though the entire Scotland squad has been cleared to continue playing, the FA were pointed to strict PHE guidelines which state if a person has close contact for more than 15 minutes, then they have to isolate.

Chilwell tweeted: “It’s a tough one to take and I’m gutted but I want to wish the boys all the best tonight in the game.
“I’ll be cheering you all on. I will make sure I am ready for when I can rejoin the squad. Lets go.”
Mount added: “I’m absolutely gutted to have to miss tonight’s game.
“I’ll be cheering on the boys as usual and ensuring that I’m ready to go again when called upon. Come on England.”
    WELCOME FROM WEMBLEY
Gareth Southgate’s England take on Czech Republic tonight in their final Euro 2020 group game at Wembley Stadium.
The Three Lions are already through to the Last 16 – however they could still finish THIRD in the group should they lose tonight.
Scotland are taking Croatia at the same time, and must win to progress to the next knockout stage.
Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell will play NO part of tonight’s game for England, having been forced to self-isolate until June 28 after coming into contact with club team-mate Billy Gilmour after Scotland’s 0-0 draw with England on Friday.
Gilmour – who won man of the match for his performance in the game – tested positive for coronavirus following the match.
Breaking his silence, Chilwell wrote: It’s a tough one to take and I’m gutted but I want to wish the boys all the best tonight in the game, I’ll be cheering you all on.
“I will make sure i am ready for when i can rejoin the squad. Lets go.”
Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson, however, could give England a much-needed injury BOOST and feature tonight ahead of the knockout phase.
While Borussia Dortmund teen star Jude Bellingham, 17,  is in line to replace Mount in England’s midfield.

    PLAN OF ATTACK
England legend Gary Lineker has urged the Three Lions to win their Euros group and not be ‘so bloody cautious’.
He tweeted: “Lot of rubbish about whether England better off losing for easier last 16 game.
“You play to win every game. Winning gives confidence.
“If you’re scared of playing France/Germany you’ve got no chance of winning the tournament anyway.
“Let’s stop being so bloody cautious. Attack!”

    COVID SHOCK
England have been so cautious about the threat of Covid-19 ripping through their squad they Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell into quarantine in the back of an ambulances.
Mount and Chilwell have been forced to isolate for ten days after coming into close contact with Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour.
Once Public Health England confirmed them as being in contact, Mount and Chilwell were immediately told they needed to isolate until Monday 28 June.
They were then ordered to leave England’s West London hotel and return to St George’s Park to quarantine.
And it is understood that rather than ferry them back up north in the back of one of their fleet of cars, it was decided the only way they could guarantee security was to use two separate ambulances.

    JOSE’S PREDICTED XI
SunSport’s very own Special One is urging Gareth Southgate to pick Jack Grealish tonight.
Jose Mourinho believes the England ace can unlock Czech Republic’s stubborn defence.
And he also believes Jude Bellingham deserves a start in midfield.

    BOWLED OVER
England stars were given a tour of Lord’s Cricket Ground before their Euros encounter with Czech Republic.
Harry Kane and Co were given the VIP treatment at the famous London venue as they relaxed before the big game.

    BREAKING: CHILWELL BREAKS SILENCE
Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell – who has been bizarrely forced to isolate after coming into contact with Scotland’s Billy Gilmour and has since returned a negative test – breaks his silence on Twitter.
And it’s a message of support for his team-mates as they go into battle against the Czech Republic tonight.
He said on Twitter: ” It’s a tough one to take and I’m gutted but I wanted to wish the boys all the best tonight in the game, I’ll be cheering you all on.
“I will make sure I am ready for when I can rejoin the squad. Lets go England!”
Someone Chilwell works closely with, Chelsea legend Petr Cech, slammed the decision to make both Mason Mount and Chilwell Isolate despite returning negative tests.
On Instagram, Cech said: “Please could someone help me understand how it is possible Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell – both with negative tests – have to isolate after they got into contact with Billy Gilmour while the entire Scottish team who shared the dressing room, hotel, coach and plane while travelling, dining room, meeting room is allowed to play the game without any problem because they returned the required negative test?
“What is the difference between them returning the same test results? It is incomprehensible…”

    ON BLAST
Chelsea legend Petr Cech has questioned the decision to make both Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell Isolate after coming into contact with Scotland’s Billy Gilmour.
Both returned negative tests, but have to remain in isolation until Monday June 28, ultimately missing tonight’s game against the Czech Republic.

    MAGUIRE TO START
Harry Maguire is expected to start tonight in place of Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein says boss Gareth Southgate wants to give the Man Utd captain some minutes before the knockout stages.
Ornstein also says that Jack Grealish is set to start, presumably in place of Mason Mount.
Harry Maguire expected to replace Tyrone Mings at centre-back as Gareth Southgate makes changes for England’s final group game v Czech Republic later. Kevin de Bruyne believes he has a psychic understanding with Romelu Lukaku, writes NEIL CUSTIS.
It’s one that now threatens to lay waste to all that come before Belgium in Euro 2020.
Manchester City star De Bruyne set Lukaku up for one that was ruled out for offside by incheas and then another that needed no checks in a 2-0 win over Finland.
And De Bruyne said: “It is very easy for me to find him when he is in the box.
“I know exactly where he is, exactly how to find him.
“It is very, very difficult for defenders to get in front of him, he is so huge.
“He has great control of the ball and when he shoots there is a high probability he will find the back of the net.”
    IT’S COMING HOME
Third and final group game for England!

    OWEN’S TWEET RATIOED BY TOMLINSON
One Direction star Louis Tomlinson believes confidence and momentum is more important.
Whereas. for some reason, former England player Michael Owen thinks if the score is level come minute 60, play for the draw…….. WHAT!
But surely confidence and momentum is the most important thing?— Louis Tomlinson (@Louis_Tomlinson) June 22, 2021

    MOUR PLEASE
Jose Mourinho thinks Bruno Fernandes has gone missing for Portugal and wants more from the Manchester United star, writes SUNNI UPAL.
Ex-Red Devils boss Mourinho said the 26-year-old ‘was not there’ in the first two matches against Hungary and Germany.
And Mourinho, who is writing for The Sun this summer, wants the Red Devils creative genius to show up in Portugal’s huge clash with France on Wednesday.
He said on talkSPORT: “Portugal at its highest level can beat anyone.

    SOUTHGATE BACKS KANE
Gareth Southgate has backed his England captain Harry Kane ahead of tonight’s game against the Czech Republic.
Speaking to the press on Monday night, he said: “He’s been our best player, our most influential and our most important player for a long period of time.
“Of course there have been moments when others, like Raheem [Sterling], have been critical for us in terms of goals but Harry has consistently been our best goal scorer.
“His record since we’ve been in charge is phenomenal and he’s a hugely important figure for us.”

    ATTACK
England legend Gary Lineker has called on the Three Lions to ‘play to win’.
The former footballer turned pundit also said: “If you’re scared of playing France/Germany you’ve got no chance of winning the tournament anyway.”
Lot of rubbish about whether @England i better off losing for easier last 16 game. You play to win every game. Winning gives confidence. THREE LIONS
In the last game, Southgate shaped up with a 4-2-3-1 against Scotland.
Pickford; James, Stones, Mings, Shaw; Rice, Phillips; Mount, Foden, Sterling; Kane.
How many changes do you think Southgate will make tonight?
Main man Mount is out for tonight’s game isolating after coming into close contact with Scotland’s Gilmour last Friday – so there’s one already!

    ROAD TO WEMBLEY
England are into the knockout stages of Euro 2020, but it’s who we face that matters!

    GIL’S WELL THAT ENDS WELL
England are smarting after Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell were forced into isolation, writes SAM STREET.
The pair were pinged as close contacts by Public Health England after Scotland’s Billy Gilmour tested positive for Coronavirus.
Yet none of Gilmour’s Scotland team-mates have been asked to isolate ahead of their final game with Croatia.
Ironically, English regulations have saved Scotland from self-isolation while punishing the Three Lions.
The reason no Scotland players have to isolate is because Public Health England have not identified any of them as “close contacts” to Gilmour.
According to NHS England, a close contact means “close face-to-face contact” (under one metre) for any length of time, including talking to somebody or coughing towards them.
Close contact can also mean being within two metres of somebody for more than 15 minutes or travelling in a small vehicle with them.
After Public Health England reviewed footage of Mount, Chilwell and Gilmour from the Wembley tunnel after England and Scotland played out a 0-0 draw, they found the three players had been in conversation for 22 minutes.
    TEAM NEWS: CROATIA VS SCOTLAND
Croatia are waiting to see if Rangers’ left-back Borna Barisic will be available after missing his side’s first two games due to a back injury, writes SANDRA BROBBEY.
Meanwhile it is thought Scotland could look to bring Scott McTominay back into midfield to replace Gilmour and draft Liam Cooper or Jack Hendry in defence.
Other midfield options include Stuart Armstrong who put in a decent shift against England alongside Che Adams after coming on as a second-half sub.
And Croatia’s Mateo Kovacic, Dejan Lovren, Marcelo Brozovic, and Duje Caleta-Car could also miss out on a last-16 clash if they pick up cautions.
Scotland duo McGinn and O’Donnell (Scotland) will be suspended if they are booked.

    JACK ‘N THRILL
Jose Mourinho has called on England manager Gareth Southgate to start Jack Grealish.
In an exclusive with The Sun, Mourinho said: “England look like a shy team, so they need Jack Grealish against the Czech Republic tonight.
“He looks like he has always been on that stage.
“The guy is brave. The guy never played a European match for his club but he arrives in the national team and  is fearless.
“He risks. He gambles. He loses the ball. He creates. He kicks people. People kick him. He creates instability in opponents.
    “And he wins free-kicks.
“You win free-kicks in wide areas then you go with Harry Maguire or Tyrone Mings or John Stones and Harry Kane — and England are powerful on set-pieces.
“England looked a shy team against Scotland because they were a team without that thing that Grealish has.
“I don’t like comparing players — and Luis Figo was at a different level — but Grealish is like Figo in that he’ll demand the ball.

    CZECH MATE
West Ham’s Declan Rice will collide with club team-mates Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal when England host the Czech Republic tonight.
Rice and Soucek have formed a formidable partnership for West Ham in the heart of their midfield.
The England international, Rice, sits and protects the back four or five depending on David Moyes’ set-up.
And Soucek gets forward into the opposition penalty area and wreaks havoc.
The towering Czech midfielder scored an impressive ten non-penalty league goals from defensive midfield last season, helping West Ham qualify for the Europa League.
To put that into context, that’s more non-penalty goals than Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes (9).
Coufal also had a fine campaign for West Ham, proving hard to beat in defence and chipped in with seven assists in the league.
The right-back also provided the assist for Patrik Schick’s opener against Scotland.
The Czech pair have a message for their team-mate Rice!

TEAM NEWS: ENGLAND VS CZECH REPUBLIC
Czech Republic don’t have any injury concerns to worry about and will come into the game fresh, ready and raring to go.
Patrik Schick is set to start again while Alex Kral could play in midfield for the Czechs.
Jack Grealish may finally get his start for England but don’t be surprised to see Gareth Southgate stick with the same front four.
Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire could also feature for the Three Lions, having both recovered from injury.

    HEALTH CZECH
Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell have been placed into ten-day isolation – meaning they will miss tonight’s clash with Czech Republic AND likely England’s last-16 game, writes DUNCAN WRIGHT.
The Chelsea pair have been deemed to be close contacts of Scotland star Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for Covid-19.
The FA say they have taken the advice of Public Health England but this morning were left with no choice but to send them back to St George’s Park.
Though the entire Scotland squad has been cleared to continue playing, the FA were pointed to strict PHE guidelines which state if a person has close contact for more than 15 minutes, then they have to isolate.
It was deemed the conversation Mount and Chilwell had with Gilmour in the tunnel after Friday’s Group D draw was enough to enact those guidelines.

    HEAD TURNED
Declan Rice has had his head turned by the prospect of playing for a bigger club.
Eurosport are reporting that sources close to the player believe he is interested in pursuing a move to a bigger club.
Chelsea – his boyhood club – are his most likely destination, but his price tag is proving to be difficult to match.
The Hammers value Rice north of £70million, and he’s a mainstay in Gareth Southgate’s England midfield adding to his price.
The report states that Rice would want wages worth £150,000 a week and a sizeable signing on fee.
Chelsea aren’t the only teams tracking Rice, they’re joined by the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.
    WHERE THERE’S A WILL
Southampton and Newcastle both want Manchester United’s Brandon Williams on loan, writes GARY STONEHOUSE.
The full-back, 20, struggled for match action last term after enjoying a fine breakthrough campaign in 2019/20.
The arrival of Alex Telles last year limited Williams to 14 appearances in all competitions – with just four of those coming in the Premier League.
Luke Shaw’s strong form has kept Williams out of the side, with the England international barely missing a match.
A host of clubs were keen on taking the defender on loan back in January but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to keep the ace at Old Trafford.
But the United manager is now confident he has enough cover at left-back so is willing to let Williams leave.
    GREAT SCOT
Aston Villa star John McGinn is reportedly being chased by Manchester United and Liverpool after impressing at Euro 2020, writes JAKE LAMBOURNE.
The Scottish midfielder, who has started in the opening two games for Steve Clarke’s side, is tied down at Villa Park until 2025.
But according to the Sunday Post via HITC, the 26-year-old could be on the move later this summer after three years spent with the Midlands side.
As well as his impressive performances for Villa in the last two Premier League seasons, his starring displays for Scotland have caught the eye of Liverpool and United.
McGinn was superb during the 0-0 draw against England on Friday, leading the news outlet to suggest the Premier League giants could step up their interest in him.
It has been stated that Villa value the player at £50million, though the report claims that a fee of £20m could be enough to secure his services.

    TEEN SPIRIT
Man Utd will be hoping that Amad Diallo has a breakout season!
He is their second most expensive teenage signing after Anthony Martial.

    PSG EYE VARANE
Manchester United target Raphael Varane looks set to leave Real Madrid this summer.
The four-time Champions League winner has been reluctant to extend his contract at the Spanish giants.
And Real would rather cash in on him now, rather than let him leave for free next summer.
According to MARCA, PSG have joined a list of clubs who admire Varane, including United.
The Parisians are looking to strengthen their defence as they look to reclaim the French title from Lille.
And PSG want to build towards winning their first Champions League.
Should Varane leave Madrid alongside Sergio Ramos – Real will be left with newboy David Alaba, Eder Militao and Nacho.
    SHIRT NUMBER
Man Utd have a new shirt number for Jadon Sancho should the transfer go ahead this summer.
If the transfer would have gone through last summer, Sancho would have worn the No7 shirt, now occupied by Edinson Cavani.
But according to the Express, it seems likely that the England international will wear the No16 shirt.
The likes of Michael Carrick and Roy Keane have worn the number.

    IN DEMAND
Manchester United Academy player performance manager Les Parry, confirmed that one young player has over 20 teams after him.
And they’re all looking to do a deal with United, which would see him spend the 2021-22 campaign on loan.
Speaking to Man Utd’s official website, he said: “We have players, for instance, that the manager has not yet made a decision on whether they can go out or not.
“They will go on the pre-season and we’ve got five or six; well, in the case of one player, 20-odd clubs are interested in him.
“They’ll be holding on and holding on but the manager will make the decisions after the pre-season.
“Others can also come up on the blind side. There might be players who go with the first team and the manager is thinking, at this point in time, they can go on loan but, suddenly, he sees them at close hand, and it might be one back from a loan, and think alright, I’ll keep hold of him for six months and have a closer look.
“It changes all the time. It really does change all the time.”
Although the player wasn’t named by Perry, the player who would be highly sought after and would benefit the most from a loan move is Hannibal Mejbri.
    POG TOP
Paul Poba is still top of Man Utd’s record transfer list!

    BIG FLAW
Caglar Soyuncu is a target for Man Utd and Chelsea this summer, after impressing yet again for Leicester City.
Interest was confirmed by Turkish journalist Erken Konur on Twitter.
He said: “Continuing their search for a stopper, Manchester United have put Caglar Soyuncu on the transfer list.
“Talks with Leicester City are scheduled to take place soon. He is closely following Caglar Soyuncu at Chelsea.”
Legendary United and England defender Rio Ferdinand did, however, highlight some flaws in his game.
Speaking on BBC’s coverage of Euro 2020, he said: “Soyuncu, for me, will play a part in leading this team.
“He’s a very, very quick, very assured defender.
“In the first season in the Premier League he was outstanding, possibly the best defender in that team. It’s been a bit stop-start since.
“What he’s got is an abundance of pace and he covers the other centre-back, which is a fantastic thing to have in your armoury.
“At times he does jump in and over-commit, even if he has the pace to get back and recover.
“At the top level, against the top teams, sometimes you don’t get the chance to come back for a second bite of the cherry.
“What you’d say is that he puts himself on the line, he’s brave, he comes out with big headers and he can defend the box.
“Turkey are going to need him to perform. They only conceded three goals in qualifying, the best record alongside Belgium.
“He is a warrior. He likes to win the first ball, he loves to go in and pressure the first ball and sometimes a striker will like that – (Shearer) would have rolled him, maybe?”
    MAIN MAN
Bruno Fernandes registered 30 goal contributions in the Premier League last season.
Will he have the same impact in the 2021-22 season?

    NO DEAL
Real Madrid are set to reject an offer from Man Utd for Raphael Varane that would include midfielder Paul Pogba, according to reports.
Varane is a long-term target for United, who are searching for the perfect centre-back partner for club captain Harry Maguire.
But the serial Champions League winner is expected to cost around £80million.
Varane does, however, have a year left on his contract at the Spanish giants, and United are hoping to take advantage of the situation.
Spanish outlet AS, claim that United want to do a Pogba-Varane swap deal.
But Real will turn it down as they look to raise funds for a potential move on PSG’s Kylian Mbappe, or Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
    GOOD MORNING MAN UTD FANS
Manchester City have launched a £100million cash bid for Tottenham star, and Manchester United target, Harry Kane, according to reports.
It is believed City are willing to include one or more players in the deal, such as Raheem Sterling.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Citizens have offered Spurs £100m ‘guaranteed’ for Kane.
The Premier League champions are also reportedly willing to include players in the deal, with Sterling, Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus among those rumoured.
It is understood Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will not accept City’s offer – and the England captain’s future will not be decided until after Euro 2020.
Chelsea are also said to be keeping tabs on the 27-year-old centre-forward.
Meanwhile, United are planning on making Paul Pogba the highest-paid player in the Premier League with a new £104million deal.
Pogba is going into the final 12 months of his contract and the Red Devils are willing to offer him a staggering £400,000 a week over the next five years.
The Manchester giants are desperate to keep the star midfielder and do not want him to go into the new season without him tied down.
Old Trafford chiefs are now set to put the bumper new terms on the table – a huge increase on his current £290,000-a-week salary.
The France international’s new pay packet would eclipse the £375,000 a week which team-mate David de Gea earns.
And United have made an improved bid for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
That is according to Sky Sports, who claim the Red Devils have offered Dortmund more than £75m.
The proposed bid would see the Manchester giants paying more up front with the rest in achievable add-ons.
United’s initial offer was believed to be £67m up front plus around £8m in add-ons.
Dortmund are thought to be considering that bid, even though they rate the star winger in excess of £80m.
Finally, Real Madrid star Raphael Varane’s agents want to meet with United this week.
Varane is said to have snubbed a two-year contract extension at Real and has decided he wants to move to the Red Devils instead of Paris Saint-Germain.
The centre-back’s representatives reportedly want to finalise a deal to take him to Old Trafford ‘in the coming days’.
And according to the Daily Mirror, Varane prefers a move to the Premier League in the near future.
    LINGARD UPDATE
Manchester United star Jesse Lingard suggested he will decide where he will play next season depending on the opportunities on offer following his recent loan stint at West Ham.
Lingard told Sky Sports: “Regular football is the most important thing for me.
“After going on loan and getting a good run in the team, you started to see the real me, with the goals and the assists.
“I’ve never doubted my ability, I’ve always believed in myself. I spoke to the manager [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer] in pre-season and said, ‘I need game time'”
    ENGLAND THROUGH
England have been confirmed as qualifying to Euro 2020’s Round of 16, with a game to spare.
Results on Sunday and Monday evening, with each group playing out their final fixture, mean that a tally of four points is now definitely enough for any nation to progress to the knockout phase.
Therefore, the Three Lions’ win against Croatia and draw with Scotland are enough for Gareth Southgate’s men to advance no matter what happens with the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
The two teams are going to square off at Wembley Stadium tomorrow
    TUANZEBE LOAN
Manchester United ace Axel Tuanzebe ‘wants’ a loan move away in the summer transfer window.
That is according to ESPN, who claim Tuanzebe prefers to join another team as he wants regular game time that will help him continue his development.
The centre-back’s contract at Old Trafford expires next year, but it does include an option of a further year.
The 23-year-old amassed a total of 19 appearances across all competitions last season
    NOW OR NEVER
Manchester United legend Gary Neville insists it is “now or never” for Harry Maguire as he can’t imagine him returning to England’s starting line-up in the knockout stages when the difficulty level picks up after his injury.
Neville told Sky Sports: “My concern was [against Scotland] that it wasn’t just the Harry Kane thing – the rest of them lacked sharpness. Even when [Jack] Grealish and [Marcus] Rashford came on, the performance didn’t change.
“For me, going into the Czech Republic game – understanding that I have played with England teams in tournaments that looked fatigued – that is the only thing that I’m looking at in the first five, 10 minutes.
‘”Is the sharpness back, and was it just a mental thing going into that Scotland game? Now’s the time for some continuity – we need to start settling on a team. That might mean that Harry Maguire comes back in.
“If he doesn’t play tomorrow against the Czech Republic, I don’t know how he can come in against a France or a Portugal in round two. It’s now or never for Maguire”
