“It’s taken a bit away from the attacking side but … there’s plenty of positives to look forward to.
“Look at the teams tonight in Portugal and France. They have their downsides too.”

    ENGLAND FATE DECIDED
England will play Germany in the last 16 of Euro 2020.
The two old foes will clash next Tuesday at Wembley in a tasty clash.

    FANS IN THE RON
Cristiano Ronaldo was pelted with objects by fans as he celebrated his second goal during Portugal’s crunch game against France.
The Juventus superstar was interrupted during his trademark jump in the air and swivel after he was struck in the back by cups.
The incident happened after Ronnie fired in a second penalty to level the scores at 2-2.

    RON OF A KIND
Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten Miroslav Klose’s record of goals in tournament football.
The Portugal star, 36, levelled the legendary Klose’s tally of 19 with his strike against the Germans on matchday two.
And it took him just half an hour of tonight’s match to reach the magic 20 with a penalty against France.

    CHASE THE RAINBOW
A pitch invader crashed Germany’s clash against Hungary tonight carrying a rainbow flag after UEFA’s controversial ban.
Rainbow flags were handed out to supporters attending the final group stage fixture in Munich.
And one fan made it onto the field holding the colours aloft in front of Hungary’s players during their national anthem.
The pitch invader was greeted with loud cheers from the German supporters in the Allianz Arena before he was tackled by security.

    FLIGHT CAMERA ACTION
A Euro 2020 cameraman ensured he kept his eyes on the action by heading the ball back into play without dropping his equipment.
The television operator was tasked with screening Spain’s 5-0 demolition of Slovakia for UEFA’s feed across the continent.
And the cameraman gained plenty of plaudits for fans for his skilful way he allowed the match to continue without jeopardising the action.
As the ball was lofted out of play the man in charge of filming managed to head it towards Peter Pekarik whilst walking backwards.

    EUR INVITED
Wembley will reportedly host up to 2,000 overseas fans for the Euro 2020 final in July.
Up to 1,000 supporters from each finalist country will be allowed to travel to watch the match without having to quarantine.
But they will remain in a bubble for the duration of their UK visit, and will fly in just before the match and return to their respective countries immediately after the final draws to a close.

    ABSOLUTELY ROB’D
Robert Lewandowksi somehow spurned a golden opportunity for Poland in their Euro 2020 decider against Sweden.
The Bayern Munich star came agonisingly close to levelling the score as his side trailed 1-0.
A corner from the right was met by the 32-year-old’s downward header, which pinged off the frame of the goal.
But the ball bounced back straight towards Lewandowski for what appeared to be a tap in.
Amazingly, he got a bit too underneath the second header and once again planted his effort against the crossbar.

    MOR’S DUB
Alvaro Morata’s Euro 2020 nightmare continued as he saw an 11th minute penalty SAVED by Slovakia keeper Martin Dubravka.

But Dubravka had a huge howler of his own as he palmed the ball into his own net moments later to give Spain the lead.
And Aymeric Laporte netted his first international goal just before the break to make it 2-0.

    CASE FOR DEFENCE
Man Utd captain Harry Maguire has defended England’s defensive march to the Euro 2020 knockout stage – claiming they are playing the football needed to win tournaments.
Maguire said: “I know everyone wants to play well and create numerous chances but teams are well drilled and organised.
“It’s not all perfect, we can improve but you can’t argue with seven points from three games.
“Can we play better? Of course we can. Will we improve? We will do everything we can to improve.
“The fundamentals are there and now we’ve got to tidy up in every part of our game when we’re on the ball and there is a little bit more we can get out of each other and push each other.
“If we are going to progress in this tournament we’re going to have to do that.”

    ‘WE ARE SORRY’
Andy Robertson has issued a message on Twitter today, apologising for Scotland’s early Euro 2020 exit.
He said: “Where to even start?! I suppose the first thing to do is to say that we are sorry for falling short in the end.
“We desperately wanted to make even more history but we didn’t quite get there and it hurts.
“Seeing the entire country not only following what we’ve done and supporting us but lifting us every step of the way made a big difference.
“From the incredible support of the Tartan Army to the kids in the street wearing Scotland shirts,we’ve felt your love and been inspired by it.
“To captain this country and these boys means the world to me and the feeling I’ve had leading them out in a tournament is impossible to describe!
“What matters now is that we do all that we can to ensure that this is the start of a wonderful journey rather than the end.
“We want more. We want to qualify for more tournaments and we want to make the people of this magnificent country even prouder!
“We will give everything we have to make this a reality.
    “Scotland it’s been a pleasure.”
    IT’S COMING HOME
West Ham and Czech Republic midfielder Tomas Soucek believes England are favourites to win Euro 2020.
Soucek started for the Czech Republic in last night’s 1-0 loss against England at Wembley.
And he came up against midfield partner Declan Rice.
He said (quotes via RMC Sport): “We play to win every game, but we didn’t start well.
“England were dominant at the start, then we chatted in the locker room and the second half was much better.
“But we weren’t clear enough around the opponent’s area. We could have created more chances. But it’s good preparation for the next game.
“We created some good situations for ourselves but we couldn’t do the job to finish.
“I think England are favourites to win the tournament. They showed their quality. We wanted to finish. first in the group, beat England, but we didn’t.”

    TEAM NEWS: SLOVAKIA VS SPAIN
There are growing calls from Spanish press for Cesar Azpilicueta to start and lead Spain’s defence, writes SANDRA BROBBEY.
The return of the Chelsea ace could see Marcus Llorente return to a role further forward with the attacker currently playing at right-back.
And midfield dynamo Sergio Busquets could be set to make a much-needed return after missing Spain’s first two games due to a positive Covid-19 test.
The Barcelona stalwart’s return could see Rodri drop to the bench after the player received a yellow card against Poland.

    THAT’S A WRAP
Thanks for joining us this evening, what a night of football.
Don’t forget to take a look at our match report, here.
    TABLE TALK
For those 90minutes, Portugal occupied each spot in the group as both games took twists and turns.
But, in the end, Hungary failed to qualify.
They did well in the so-called group of death to hold both France and Germany to draws.

    HOW’S STAT
What a way to wrap up the group stages, with two dramatic games and 18 goals in a day.
There were more goals today than in any other single day in the history of the competition.
Portugal have conceded six goals in their last two games which is as many as they conceded in their previous 11 games in the competition.
France meanwhile are unbeaten in their last 12 group stage games, at major international tournaments, having won seven and drawn five.

    PENALTY MEMORIES FOR SOUTHGATE
Gareth Southgate will be haunted by memories of England’s 1996 exit at the hands of Germany.
The England manager missed a penalty at Wembley.

    OLD FOES
England will face Germany on Tuesday now, as they go through as second in Group F.
France top the group, as Germany get second on goal difference.
    Portugal also qualify.
    GROUPIES
The group stage of the tournament is over and we’ve enjoyed a four-goal thriller here in Hungary.
Ronaldo can lay claim to two of them as he equalled the international goal scoring record.

    FT: PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE

    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    94. Ronaldo has scored five goals so far.
That could well help him on the way to the golden boot.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    93. It’s all over between Germany and Hungary as it finishes 2-2.
That news means these two sides can just play it out.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    92. VAR check complete, no penalty.
Although, there was a flash of panic in Fernandes’ eyes.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    91. Fernandes takes a bit of a risk in the way he holds onto Coman as he tries to stop him from racing away from him.
The Man United man does appear to clip Coman’s calf too as he halts him on the byline.
Ref appears to be listening to a VAR official in his ear. Surely not another pen?!
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    90. Five added minutes here.
There must be one more burst in these teams..
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    89. As it stands, England may well face Germany on Tuesday.
    Unless anything changes…
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    88. The pace has dropped a little, as both teams appear tired.
The crowd aren’t too happy about it.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    87. Portugal make a substitution of their own as Sanches is hauled off.
He doesn’t want to come off and it’s understandable, he’s had a cracking game.
    Sanchez is replaced by Oliveira.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    85. Coman works the ball well around the right-hand side of the box, drawing Portugal’s defence towards him before slipping the ball to Girezmann at the top.
Neves throws his body in the way to block Griezmann’s path, but the strike is well wide.
Looks like that was Griezmann’s last shot of the evening as he’s replaced by Sissoko.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    How about stat?

    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    81. Well if there wasn’t enough drama here, there’s been plenty of it across Europe.
Germany have pulled it back, it’s 2-2 there as well.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
78 Semedo’s evening is over, as Dalot replaces him, Semedo looks gutted.
Pepe understands the importance of fresh legs and can’t afford to carry any players that are struggling with niggles when it’s this close.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    77. Pepe seems to be taking control and telling the Portuguese coaching staff that changes need to be made.
An international debut could be coming for full-back Dalot.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    76. It’s getting a little feisty out there.
Fernandes ends up shoving Rabiot off the ball on the sideline as the Frenchman tries to waste a bit of time while the ball is bouncing out of play.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    73. Both teams have had their moments in the second half and the stats show what a level playing field it is.
Both teams have enjoyed 50 per cent possession, with Portugal having ten shots on target to France’s nine.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    72. Portugal make a double substitution;
Bernardo Silva makes way for Bruno Fernandes.
While Moutinho makes way for his Wolves colleague, Neves.
    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    Crisis? What crisis?

    PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE
    70. France are back in the game and are moving the ball around much quicker.
    Anything could happen here!

    THAT’S ALL FROM SEVILLE
Spain punched their ticket to Euro 2020’s Last 16 following a dominant 5-0 win against Slovakia at the Estadio La Cartuja.
The Furia Roja endured a poor start as Alvaro Morata wasted a penalty shot, which was denied by Martin Dubravka on 11 minutes.
But Dubravka quickly went from hero to zero soon after in the 30th minute when it started to rain goals for Luis Enrique’s men.
Pablo Sarabia’s long-range shot rattled the crossbar and as the ball came falling down the Newcastle shot-stopper failed to hold on to it and scored the tournament’s most shocking own goal.
Luis Enrique’s men doubled their lead in the third minute of stoppage time as Dubravka’s nightmare continued.
The Slovakia keeper failed to beat Gerard Moreno to the ball and the Villarreal star turned around with a cross that Aymeric Laporte headed to the back of the net.
Sarabia sealed qualification for Spain in the the 56th minute when he picked up Jordi Alba’s low cross from the left and finished off from close range.
Then Ferran Torres made it four with a beautiful backheel on his first contact with the ball following a pass by Sarabia on 67 minutes.
The cherry on top came just four minutes later when a header by Pau Torres deflected off of Juraj Kucka.
Spain are now set to face Croatia in Euro 2020’s knockout stages.
Thanks for tuning in, have a great evening!

    SARABIA REACTS
Spain international Pablo Sarabia put together a stunning performance against Slovakia and praised his team-mates.
Sarabia also slammed Raphael van der Vaart’s recent criticism of the Furia Roja.
The Paris Saint-Germain star said: “We all needed this to gain confidence and restore the illusion to the people to face the next game.
“The team did well in the first 20 minutes, with brutal intensity. We deserve it.
“Jordi [Alba] saw me very well in the goal. He needed this goal to gain confidence.
“The Van der Vaart thing is silly. This works for us and our people. To know the potential of this team. We know that Croatia will be very difficult”

    RESS-T IN PEACE
Spain international Ferran Torres scored a fine backheel on his first contact with the ball.
It took Torres only 44 seconds to hit the back of the net against Slovakia today.
And it seems like he has beaten a record that was previously held by compatriot Juan Carlos Valeron.
    More below:
44 – Scoring with his first touch 44 seconds after coming on, Ferran Torres’ goal is the fastest by a substitute in a European Championship match since Juan Carlos Valerón netted 39 seconds after coming on against Russia in 2004, also for Spain. BUSQUETS REACTS
Spain star Sergio Busquets is very happy to be back and stated that although the national team accepts criticism they will not tolerate any “lack of respect”.
Busquets said: “We didn’t play the games we wanted and today was a rush. This is the way.
“We did not depend on us to be first, but it will help us. I’m excited. I’ve had a pretty bad 10 days at home without knowing if I was going to be able to come back or not.
“Now whatever comes. Today was what we all needed. The public has been very good and we connected from the beginning. So we are much stronger.
“The penalty was a shame, but we kept trying. Today we have had the luck that we have lacked in the other games.
“As I said, we accept the criticism, but not the lack of respect and more from people who have also been here. No need to review it again”

    WHAT’S NEXT?
Spain made it through to Euro 2020’s Last 16 with a dominant display against Slovakia.
As it stands, the Furia Roja are going to meet Croatia in the knockout stages.
The Croats finished second in Group D, just three points behind table-toppers England.
This promises to be an exciting encounter…

    UPDATED TABLE
Spain saved the best for last as they climbed up to second place and made it to Euro 2020’s Last 16.
The Furia Roja, though, failed to top Group E as Sweden defeated Poland 3-2 in Saint Petersburg.
Slovakia finished third but didn’t make it to the knockout stage and thus Ukraine are through to the next round.
    More below:

    STATS
Spain dominated 66 per cent of possession throughout the match against Slovakia.
The Furia Roja completed a whopping total of 19 shots, nine of which were on target.
Slovakia, on the other hand, only managed a mere three shots, but none of them were on target,
However, Stefan Tarkovic’s men didn’t have a single clear-cut chance
    FT: SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
Spain punched their ticket to Euro 2020’s Last 16 following a dominant display against Slovakia at the Estadio La Cartuja.
The game started badly for the Furia Roja as Alvaro Morata’s poor penalty shot was denied by Martin Dubravka on 11 minutes.
But Dubravka quickly went from hero to zero soon after in the 30th minute when it started to rain goals for the Spaniards.
Pablo Sarabia’s long-range shot rattled the crossbar and as the ball came falling down the Newcastle keeper failed to hold on to it and scored the tournament’s most shocking own goal.
Luis Enrique’s men doubled their lead in the third minute of stoppage time when Dubravka’s nightmare continued.
The Slovakia shot-stopper failed to beat Gerard Moreno to the ball and the Villarreal star turned around with a cross that Aymeric Laporte headed to the back of the net.
Sarabia sealed qualification for Spain in the the 56th minute when he picked up a low cross by Jordi Alba from the left and finished off from close range.
Then Ferran Torres made it four with a beautiful backheel on his first contact with the ball following a pass by Sarabia on 67 minutes.
The cherry on top came just four minutes later when a header by Pau Torres deflected off of Juraj Kucka
    GETTY IMAGES
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
    AND THAT’S FULL-TIME IN SEVILLE!
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
    90+4 YELLOW CARD
Skriniar gets booked for dissent just seconds before full-time
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
90+3 It was almost a perfect game for Spain.
But Sweden have regained the lead with Claesson and made it 3-2.
That means the Swedes are top of the group and the Furia Roja go through to the Last 16 by finishing second
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
90 Just four more minutes of added time to go until full-time.
Neither team is really pushing for something better…
Spain are obviously comfortable whereas Slovakia have accepted their fate
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
    90 SUBSTITUTION
Slovakia manager Tarkovic makes his last change as Benes replaces captain Hamsik
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
    89 CHANCE
Oyarzabal tries a shot from a tight angle down the left but completely misses the target
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
88 Spain’s incredible performance and comeback comes down to Busquets’ return.
The Barcelona legend was outstanding in midfield and completely changed the Furia Roja’s image.
But Sarabia has also been spectacular and turned into the leader manager Enrique has been looking fior
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
85 Tempo has significantly decreased in Seville, but neither team is too fussed.
Cheers start emerging from the live Spanish crowd as they just realised that Spain are now top of the group!
If nothing changes then the Furia Roja will have produced an epic comeback in the group stages!
    GETTY IMAGES
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
83 But none of Spain’s five goals compare to Lewandowski’s stunner in the other game of the group.
The Bayern Munich star produced a marvellous curling shot.
Oh, and by the way, Lewandowski JUST equalised for Poland!
Spain’s hopes of topping the group have dramatically increased!

    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
    82 CHANCE!
Spain come close to a sixth!
Alba delivers a cross from the left flank and Oyarzabala barely misses the ball in front of open goal
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
80 And then it was Pau Torres who followed his namesake’s example.
Or at least he thought he did until he got some unintended help from Kucka

    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
79 Then Ferran Torres made an instant impact right off the bench.
And the Manchester City star added some class to his introduction…

    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
78 Here’s how Sarabia sealed the big win for Spain.
    Slovakia thought that was bad…

    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
    77 SUBSTITUTION
Spain manager Enrique makes another double switch to rest some more key players.
Oyarzabal replaces Gerard and Traore takes Azpilicueta’s place
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
74 Such poor defending from Slovakia…
Absolutely no one was able to clear the ball before Kucka’s own goal…
    SPAIN 5-0 SLOVAKIA
71 Okay, so first things first:
Thiago and Pau Torres came on for Busquets and Garcia respectively.
And then Torres, just like his other namesake, hit the back of the net on his first contact with the ball, kind of…
Thiago tried a shot from the edge of the box but the ball bounced in the air.
Skriniar failed to clear the ball with his head as he sent it backwards where Laporte got a header of his own.
The Manchester City star set Pau up, who headed the ball that got a deflection off of Kucka, so another own goal!

    GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!
SPAIN SCORE A FIFTH WITH PAU TORRES!!!!!!!

    SWEDEN 1-0 POLAND
    6. The Swedes keep on coming, and Poland are finding it increasingly to get out of their own half.
As it stands, Janne Andersson’s men are going to top the group to set up a Last 16 date at Hampden Park with opposition as yet unknown.
    SWEDEN 1-0 POLAND
    4. How will Poland react now? Paulo Sousa’s team now need two goals to have any hope of qualifying, and, at the moment, they look somewhat shellshocked.
    SWEDEN 1-0 POLAND
    2. Sweden lead thanks to the earliest goal of these European Championships!
Emil Forsberg is the man on target again, taking advantage of Alexander Isak’s tenacity on the edge of the box, and then Kamil Jozwiak’s air clearance inside it.
As soon as the Derby man had missed his kick, Forsberg had the opportunity to move in and strike at goal, and he didn’t disappoint.
His shot is fierce, low and past Wojciech Szszesny before the goalkeeper has a chance to touch the ball.
A tough task for Poland just got much harder.
GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL!!EMIL FORSBERG FIRES SWEDEN INTO AN EARLY LEAD!!
    SWEDEN 0-0 POLAND
    1. The referee ensures the clocks are synced with Seville, and then blows to set Sweden off for their final game.
The Group E leaders are in their customary yellow and blue, Poland are in all red.
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!IT’S GAME TIME!
    HERE COME THE TEAMS!
It’s an array of Englishmen that lead the sides out in Saint Petersburg. Referee Michael Oliver and his assistants, Stuart Burt and Simon Bennett, are the men in charge this afternoon.
Then it’s Sebastian Larsson, the man set to become Sweden’s fourth-most capped player this afternoon, that heads the Scandinavians emerging from the tunnel.
The Poland players are quickly out and in line to sing their national anthem with gusto. The likes of Lewandowski, Szczesney and Krychowiak look pumped.
    SECOND HALF SWEDES
While Poland will want hit the front foot early, don’t expect an early goal from Sweden.
A whopping 88% of the goals scored by the Blue and Yellow at European Championships have come in the second half of games (23 of 26). It’s the highest percentage of any country with at least three goals at the tournament.
    KICK-OFF APPROACHING
It’s not long until the action gets underway in both Russia and Spain, and the stadiums are beginning to fill up.
Already certain of a place in the knockout stages, the Sweden fans appear in relaxed mood ahead of kick-off.
There are more nerves amid the decent-sized Polish contingent. How they’d love an early goal to help settle their worries.

    MIND THE GAP
I’m not sure these Poland fans have made the best attempt as staying socially distant inside the Saint Petersburg Stadium.
    Other seats remain available.

    ISAK IMPRESSES
The one Sweden player to really catch the eye during what have been otherwise pragmatic performances is Alexander Isak of Real Sociedad.
La Liga’s Young Player of the Year has shown himself to the rest of the continent to be a real attacking threat, who isn’t afraid to take players on.
Isak completed six dribbles in the 1-0 win over Slovakia, the most by a Swedish player in a European Championship since Tomas Brolin completed seven against Denmark at Euro ’92.
The forward’s ability was praised by Gary Lineker after that match, but as the accompanying video shows, the 21-year-old wasn’t overly impressed by news of his English fan. Do they not have Walkers Crisps in Sweden?!

    CAPTAIN MARVEL
Captain. Leader. Legend. Words undoubtedly overused these days, but ones that could certainly be applied to Robert Lewandowski.
The Poland skipper holds the record for both the most caps (121) and goals (67) for his country, and has given them a chance of qualification this evening following his marvellous headed equaliser against Spain four days ago.
Lewandowski has been in sensational form for club and country over the past year, having been directly involved in 14 goals in his last 12 starts for Poland (10 goals, four assists). The striker is also currently level with Jakub Blaszczykowski on three European Championship goals, the joint-most by any Polish player.

DEFEAT FOR SWEDES WOULD BE A TURN-IP
When getting to the root of the record between these nations, it seems Sweden have been making mashed potatoes of Poland for far too long.
The Scandinavian side have won nine of their last 11 matches against the Poles (D1 L1), including each of the last five; the Eagles haven’t beaten Sweden in 30 years since a 2-0 friendly win in Gdansk back in August 1991.
However, their only previous encounter at a major tournament was won by Poland as they famously finished third at the 1974 World Cup. Their second round tie was settled by a single goal scored by Golden Boot winner Grzegorz Lato.
And if you’re thinking Sweden will be content to sit back this evening and play for another 0-0 draw, it’s worth bearing in mind that none of the previous 26 matches between these countries have ended goalless.
    POLAND SUBSTITUTES
    12 Skorupski, 22 Fabianski, 3 Dawidowicz, 4 Kedziora, 6 Kozlowski, 8 Linetty, 13 Rybus, 17 Placheta, 19 Frankowski, 23 Kownacki, 24 Swierczok, 25 Helik
    POLAND XI
Poland also make one change from their 1-1 draw in Seville. Grzegorz Krychowiak returns from his one-match ban to replace Brighton’s injured Jakub Moder in midfield. The Lokomotiv Moscow man’s return allows for a slight shift in shape to 3-4-2-1 with Karol Swiderski and Piotr Zielinksi ready to support Robert Lewandowski in attack. Tymoteusz Puchacz and Kamil Jozwiak will patrol the flank while Southampton’s Jan Bednarek will help hold things together at the back.
    1 Szczesny; 18 Bereszynski, 15 Glik, 5 Bednarek; 21 Jozwiak, 10 Krychowiak, 14 Klich, 26 Puchacz; 11 Swiderski, 20 Zielinski; 9 Lewandowski

    SWEDEN SUBSTITUTES
    12 Johnsson, 23 Nordfeldt, 5 Bengtsson, 9 Berg, 13 Svensson, 14 Helander, 15 Sema, 16 Krafth, 17 Claesson, 18 Jansson, 21 Kulusevski, 26 Cajuste
    SWEDEN XI
It’s one change for Sweden for their final Group E game. Robin Quaison made an impact off the bench against Slovakia, winning their late penalty, and is rewarded with a start in attack alongside Alexander Isak. Meanwhile, Albin Ekdal has recovered from his knock and continues in central midfield, meaning Janne Andersson can proceed with his tried-and-tested 4-4-2 formation. Sebastian Larsson captains the Swedes as he wins his 131 cap for his country.
    1 Olsen; 2 Lustig, 3 Lindelof, 24 Danielson, 6 Augustinsson; 7 S Larsson, 20 Olsson, 8 Ekdal, 10 Forsberg; 22 Quaison, 11 Isak

    THE TEAMSHEETS ARE IN!
    GOOD AFTERNOON
Welcome to Saint Petersburg for our live coverage of Sweden against Poland, one of the final round of Group E matches at Euro 2020.
While Spain and Slovakia slog it out in Seville for a place in the knockout stages, the Swedes can sit back – as has become their custom – knowing that their place in the Round of 16 is already secure.
A draw and a win without conceding has confirmed their progression, but another win here will ensure top spot and a game in Glasgow next Tuesday against one of the best third-place finishers.
Yet a success is far from certain, especially given the Blue and Yellow’s shortcomings up front; despite boasting one of the tournament’s standout attacking performers in Alexander Isak, Emil Forsberg’s late penalty against the Slovakians is all they have to show so far in the goals for column.
And this teatime, they face a Poland team for whom nothing more than three points will do.
Paulo Sousa’s team have given themselves hope after getting off the mark with a crucial point in Spain on Saturday.
Unsurprisingly, Robert Lewandowski was the man who rose to the big occasion – and over Aymeric Laporte at the back post – and the Poles will again be looking to their captain to fire them through to the next stage.
Grzegorz Krychowiak is back from suspension after his red card in the shock 2-1 defeat to Slovakia, but there are doubts over the Premier league pair of Jan Bednarek and Jakub Moder.
Meanwhile, Sweden’s Albin Ekdal missed training earlier this week, but is expected to overcome a minor issue to start his third game of these championships in midfield.
The official team news is up next, and then we’ll have all the build-up ahead of the 5pm kick-off in Russia.

    SPAIN 0-0 SLOVAKIA
    5 CHANCE!

    SPAIN 0-0 SLOVAKIA
    3 Great news for Spain!
Sweden have opened the scoring with Forsberg’s left-foot finish against Poland!
If nothing changes in Saint Petersburg then a draw would take Spain through to the Last 16
    SPAIN 0-0 SLOVAKIA
    2 Another quick reminder:
Slovakia manager Stefan Tarkovic appears to have opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation with two changes to the team that lost to Sweden last week.
Martin Dubravka starts in goal with Peter Pekarik at right-back and Tomas Hubocan on the other side, while Lubomir Satka and Milan Skriniar link up at centre-back.
Juraj Kucka and Jakub Hromada, who replaces Patrik Hrosovsky, team up in midfield with captain Marek Hamsik playing at No10.
Lukas Haraslin, on for Martin Koscelnik, covers the right flank with Robert Mak on the other side, while Ondrej Duda leads the attack
    SPAIN 0-0 SLOVAKIA
    1 Just a quick reminder:
Spain manager Luis Enrique appears to have opted for a 4-3-3 formation with four changes to the team that drew with Poland last week.
Unai Simon starts in goal with Cesar Azpilicueta, replacing Marcos Llorente at right-back, and Jordi Alba on the other side, while Aymeric Laporte teams up with Eric Garcia, on for Pau Torres, at centre-back.
Koke, Pedri and the returning captain Sergio Busquets, who takes Rodri’s place, link up in midfield.
Pablo Sarabia, who replaces Dani Olmo, Gerard Moreno and Alvaro Morata lead the attack
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
AND OFF WE GO IN SEVILLE!!!!!!!
    HERE COME THE TEAMS!!!
The Estadio La Cartuja is ready to host the crucial Euro 2020 clash between Spain and Slovakia.
The Furia Roja are being led out by captain Sergio Busquets, whereas Marek Hamsik dons his nation’s armband.
A strong show of fans in Seville, which means we will have quite an atmosphere for what could be a dramatic encounter.
    Not long to go now…
    GETTY IMAGES
    DRAW-ING BOARD
As explained below, a draw could still work for Spain as long as Poland don’t beat Sweden.
As you can see, the Furia Roja have picked up ties in each of their last four major tournament matches.
But Luis Enrique’s men have to do much better today to seal qualification to Euro 2020’s Last 16.
    More below:
4 – Spain have drawn each of their last four major tournament matches (World Cup and Euros); among European nations, only Italy (five from 1980 to 1982) have ever had a longer run of successive such draws. Neutralised. #ESP #EURO2020 pic.twitter.com/baKVxQRG8g— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) June 23, 2021

    YOUNG BLOOD
Spain manager Luis Enrique is showing faith in young talent despite the urgency of today’s Euro 2020 clash with Slovakia.
Barcelona duo Eric Garcia and Pedri have been named in the starting line-up despite their young age of 20 and 18 years old resepctively.
As you can tell, that is something the Furia Roja don’t tend to do too often.
    More below:
2 – In Eric García (20) and Pedri (18), Spain have named two players aged 20 or below in their starting XI for a EUROs match for a first time, while it’s the first time they’ve done so at any major tournament since the 2006 World Cup v France (Ramos & Fàbregas). Trust. #EURO2020— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) June 23, 2021

    HOW DO SPAIN GO THROUGH?
As mentioned below, Spain are facing the risk of elimination in the Euros’ group stage if they don’t beat Slovakia today.
That would mark the first time they get kicked out so early in the competition since 2004 when they came up short against then hosts Portugal and Greece, who went on to win the tournament.
However, a draw may still do the trick for the Furia Roja who could qualify the same way Portugal did five years ago when they won Euro 2016.
But that could only happen if Poland don’t beat Sweden in the other game of the group, meaning that third place could still work as they have a better goal difference than Finland and Ukraine, who also amassed three points
    GETTY IMAGES
    LEAVING A MAREK
Trabzonspor signing Marek Hamsik poses as Slovakia’s biggest star ahead of their Euro 2020 clash with Spain.
Hamsik is the Falcons’ record scorer with 26 goals in 126 appearances, which also makes him his country’s most capped player of all time.
The midfielder rose to prominence during his 12-year stint at Napoli where he amassed a whopping 121 goals and 100 assists in 520 matches across all competitions.
The 33-year-old registered one goal in six appearances for Goteborg and is now set to join Trabzonspor in July
    GETTY IMAGES
    SLOVAKIA FORMATION

    SLOVAKIA BENCH
    4 Valjent, 6 Gregus, 7 Weiss, 10 Suslov, 11 Benes, 12 Kuciak, 13 Hrosovsky, 16 Hancko, 21 Duris, 22 Lobotka, 23 Rodak, 24 Koscelnik

    23 Simon; 2 Azpilicueta, 12 Garcia, 24 Laporte, 18 Alba; 8 Koke, 5 Busquets, 26 Pedri; 22 Sarabia, 9 Gerard, 7 Morata

    THE TEAM SHEETS ARE IN!!!
    MORE GOALS
Villarreal star Gerard Moreno caused a lot of disappointment back home last week during the 1-1 draw with Poland as he missed a penalty shot that would have given Spain the victory.
However, this doesn’t change the fact that Gerard still boasts more goal contributions than anyone else in the Furia Roja since his international debut on October 2019.
The centre-forward has participated in a total of nine goals, as he scored five times and produced four assists along the way.
The 29-year-old also enjoyed a stunning campaign in LaLiga last season as he registered 23 goals and seven assists in 33 matches, which made him the top Spanish goalscorer in the league
    GETTY IMAGES
    SLOVAKIA STATS
Slovakia have amassed three points in Group E after beating Poland in their kick-off match and losing to Sweden in the process.
That means that a draw would be enough to get them through to the Last 16 no matter what happens in the other match of their group.
That would mark their second consecutive qualification to the knockout stages since their independence as they also made it to the Round of 16 of Euro 2016.
However, last week’s 1-0 loss to Sweden ended a six-game unbeaten run, which saw Stefan Tarkovic’s men winning twice along the way
    GETTY IMAGES
    SPAIN STATS
As mentioned below, Spain have been enduring a very poor start in their Euro 2020 campaign as they drew both of their matches in the group stage against Sweden and Poland.
However, their recent 1-1 tie with the Poles extended their ongoing unbeaten run to nine matches across all competitions, of which they have won a mere four.
Nevertheless, the Furia Roja have shown they can turn things around with their impressive goalscoring record as they have netted 18 goals along the way, which included a famous 6-0 win over Germany in the Nations League.
Luis Enrique’s men also registered a total of four clean sheets in the process
    GETTY IMAGES
    HEAD-TO-HEAD
Spain and Slovakia’s first ever encounter took place way back in 1996 during a World Cup qualifier in Tenerife, which the former won 4-1 on a night that current manager Luis Enrique played and scored.
Since then, the two sides faced off a total of six times with the Furia Roja winning a majority of four matches, whereas the Slovaks have only emerged victorious once.
Stefan Tarkovic’s men will look to emulate their heroics from 2014 when they beat the Spaniards 2-1 at home during the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
However, Spain won the reverse fixture a year later with a score of 2-0, thanks to goals by Jordi Alba and Andres Iniesta, which marks their most recent encounter to date
    GETTY IMAGES
    GOOD AFTERNOON FROM SEVILLE
Welcome to our live coverage of the Euro 2020 group stage match between Spain and Slovakia at the Estadio La Cartuja.
It’s go time for both teams with their fates set to be decided on a very open Group E that either one could end up topping or finishing at the bottom of the pile.
Of course, much is also going to depend on the other big game of the group between Sweden and Poland, who face off at the same time at the Gazprom Arena in Saint Petersburg.
Spain have been enduring a very disappointing start in their campaign, that could even lead to an abrupt ending unless they finally win today.
Furia Roja manager Luis Enrique has received a major boost as Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets has returned to full training and will be available for selection following his recent bout with coronavirus.
Therefore, he could earn a place in the starting line-up next to Barca team-mate Pedri ahead of Manchester City star Rodri, who was booked against Poland last week.
Slovakia manager Stefan Tarkovic, on the other hand, is going to be without Lazio loanee Denis Vavro, who is still self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.
The Slovaks are also going to be without Slavia Prague forward Ivan Schranz as he is still dealing with a thigh injury

    CHIEF CREATOR
Man Utd left-back Luke Shaw has created the most chances for England in the group stages despite playing two of the three games.

    TEAM NEWS: SWEDEN VS POLAND
Poland will be boosted by the return of midfield maestro Grzegorz Krychowiak who missed his side’s second game due to a suspension for a red card received during his team’s loss to Slovakia, writes SANDRA BROBBEY.
And reports claim Leeds’ Mateusz Klich or Brighton’s Jakub Moder could drop to the bench to make way for the Locomotiv Moscow ace.
And Andersson is likely to keep faith with the side that defeated Slovakia 2-1.
This is despite media outlets in Sweden calling for Mainz striker Robin Quaison to step in for veteran forward Marcus Berg.

    ‘I THOUGHT HE DID FANTASTIC’
Former England striker Emile Heskey praised Man Utd captain Harry Maguire for his performance against the Czech Republic last night.
Maguire completed his first 90 minutes of football since early May, and he helped England pick up another clean sheet.
Speaking on the official England podcast, Heskey said: “I thought he did really well, considering I don’t think he’s had loads of training sessions.
“I thought he did fantastic. Controlled it, bossed it in there.”
    ROAD TO WEMBLEY
England will play one of Portugal, France or Germany at Wembley in the Round of 16.

    TEAM NEWS: GERMANY VS HUNGARY
Thomas Muller, 31, is likely to be out of action after picking up a knee injury during Germany’s win against Portugal.
Reports claim Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, 25, could be in line to replace the veteran striker who helped his side win the 2014 World Cup.
The former Manchester City ace has netted seven times in 32 senior international appearances for Germany.
And Mats Hummels is thought to be contending with a knee injury but it’s thought the defender could be starting in Low’s side this evening.
Meanwhile Nemanja Nikolic is expected to keep his place in Hungary’s attack with team-mate Adam Szalai recovering from a head injury sustained during his team’s 0-0 draw with France.

    MAGUIRE RETURNS
Harry Maguire returned to action after a spell on the sidelines with an injury.
The Man Utd captain missed the last few weeks of the season, and missed Man Utd’s Europa League final against Villarreal.
But Maguire returned to action for England last night, playing a pivotal role in keeping a clean sheet against the Czech Republic.

    TEAM NEWS: PORTUGAL VS FRANCE
Portugal will be without striker Joao Felix and left-back Nuno Mendes for their final group F clash with both players having missed their side’s loss to Germany, writes SANDRA BROBBEY.
Atletico Madrid ace Felix, 21, is reportedly contending with hamstring problems.
And Sporting Lisbon starlet Mendes, 19, who is reportedly a Man United transfer target, is out of action due to a thigh strain.
It is thought Santos could look to make some minor changes to his midfield line-up.
Rafa Silva is reportedly in contention to make an appearance after helping the reigning Euros champs trounce Hungary.
The Benfica playmaker came on as a second-half substitute contributing to his side’s 3-0 win in their first fixture of this year’s tournament.
And Renato Sanches could also be set to make his first start for Santos’ side in the tournament.
The Lille midfielder, 23, became the youngest player to ever feature in European Championship final in 2016 at the age of 18
And Sanches’ positive attacking display helped skipper Ronaldo net a late brace against Hungary.
Meanwhile France suffered a blow to their attacking ranks with Ousmane Dembele ruled out for the rest of the tournament.
The winger sustained a knee injury during France’s 1-1 draw with Hungary with the French FA confirming the player would miss the rest of his side’s fixtures.
And reports claim Lucas Hernandez could return as a left-back for Deschamps side, replacing Lucas Digne who started against Hungary.

    RON TOP
Cristiano Ronaldo finished off a blistering counter attack to open the sring in Portugal’s game against Germany.
But the defending European champions went on to lose 4-2.
They face France tonight, but could still qualify for the knockout stages as one of four of the best third placed teams.

    MOURINHO’S MAGUIRE ASSESSMENT
Former Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho assessed Harry Maguire’s return to football.
He said: “I keep saying when you have an option to take 26 players, you have to risk, gamble and take an injured player if the player deserves that. Maguire is one of those players.
“He was confident, he was stable, he was intelligent, read the game well, and has a good partnership with [John] Stones.
“[Tyrone] Mings is doing a fantastic job, you could feel he was happy to come in for 10 or 15 minutes, he is a team player.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the next game is against Germany, the way they play with three at the back – I wouldn’t be surprised if England went with Stones, Maguire and Mings at the back.”
    GAME DAY
Four games are on today from groups E and F.
Sweden vs Poland and Slovakia vs Spain kick-off the Euros action today from 5pm.
Former European and world champions Spain find themselves in a spot of bother, on two points from two games.
And they need to beat Slovakia, who are going strong in the group.
Sweden, who look as good as through, take on Poland who managed to hold off Spain in their last game.
Onto the 8pm kick-offs, England fans will be watching on with a real interest.
France are taking on Portugal, and Germany are facing Hungary.
And whoever finishes second in Group F, faces England at Wembley…… big day of football!
    HEARTBREAK
Modric scored an absolute beauty against Scotland yesterday and dragged Croatia into the knockout stages.
Scotland’s Euro dream comes to an end.

    SOUTHGATE’S THOUGHTS
England manager Gareth Southgate gave his post-match thoughts about the win over the Czech Republic to ITV.
He said: “We started really well. We were stable with the ball. We changed what we were doing overnight because of the change to personnel, so great credit to the players.
“We’ve been super-impressed with Bukayo, his receiving under pressure was fantastic. I think there’s more to come from us. We haven’t scored from a set play yet.
“They’re crucial in big matches, so we’ve got to get those nailed. We’re not fluent, but we have moments when we look a good side. There’s a lot of good things that we are doing.
“We’ve got most of the squad into the games. Ninety minutes for Harry Maguire, which was important. Hendo 45, which was a real step forward.
“A lot of positives for us. It’s great to have more supporters. Who knows whether it’ll be a good draw or not, but we wanted to win the group, to stay at Wembley, and we’ll wait and see who we’ll play tomorrow.”
    YES SIR I CAN BOOGIE
Unfortunately for Scotland, their Euro 2020 campaign came to an end.

    STERLING SPEAKS
Goal-scorer Raheem Sterling gave his assessment to ITV after last night’s game against the Czech Republic game.
He said: “There’s positives from the game. We kept the ball better, we had more attacking options.
“We got in the gaps really well and played some good football. We got the goal we needed.
“I thought I’d put the first effort away, but am happy to get my goal in the end.
“Saka and Grealish got in the pockets really well, turned with the ball, they were positive.
“It’s brilliant to have these players around you, who can create goals. Different players are needed for different matches.
“If you don’t concede goals, you win football matches. We just need to score at the other end.
“Our objective from the beginning was to win the group. Things are going to be difficult at times.
“It’s tournament football, and at some point you’re going to have to face the best teams. That’s the whole point, to challenge yourself.”
    GOOD MORNING EUROS FANS
England will play Germany, France, Portugal or Hungary in the last 16 of the Euros after beating Czech Republic.
The Three Lions’ narrow 1-0 win at Wembley last night ensured they finished top of Group D, with Raheem Sterling netting the winner.
And that means they have a horror last-16 clash with the runners-up from ‘Group of Death’ Group F on Tuesday, June 29 at 5pm – again, under the Arch.
As things stand, old rivals Germany sit second in that group with three points but they still have one game to play tonight against Hungary.
However, it could also be a meeting with World Cup winners France, or defending European Champions Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo.
And England’s fate will be decided when those two teams also meet later today.
England goalscorer Sterling praised his side’s performance against the Czechs, saying: “I thought it was a much better performance, attacking-wise.
“I thought we had more fluid movement and we created some problems as well. Most importantly, we scored the goal we needed and kept a clean sheet.
“It’s tournament football, it’s very different to being at your clubs. We just need to get to see games out a little bit better. We’re making good progress and now it’s time for a big challenge.”
There was heartbreak for Scotland though, as they crashed out of the Euros.
Steve Clarke’s men lost 3-1 to Croatia in front of a home crowd at Hampden Park.
And Scotland will now be exiting the competition bottom of the group.
The result saw Croatia end up finishing second, with the Czechs taking third place.
    HUNGAR STRIKE
England look set to face one of France, Germany or Portugal in the last 16.
But there IS still a way the Three Lions can get an easier draw against Hungary.

    COMMENT BY CHARLIE WYETT
Harry Maguire roared back to form just one month after ditching his protective boot.
The centre-back put in a mammoth performance in tonight’s 1-0 win against Czech Republic.
And Maguire will be vital for England’s Euro 2020 hopes throughout the rest of the tournament.

    MORE FROM GARETH
“The Czechs are a really good side. They use the ball well and are really tough to break down. There is more to come from us, definitely.
“We have not scored from a set play yet which I know people laughed at with us only scoring from them. They are crucial in big matches and we have to get those nailed.
“We are not fluent but we have moments where we look a good side. Different sorts of tests. All of our next opponents will be different games. There is a lot of good things we are doing.
“We are getting minutes for a lot of the players. Ninety minutes for Harry Maguire was important tonight. Jordan Henderson getting 45 minutes is a step forward. A lot of positives.
“It is great to be having more supporters in that is for sure. Who knows if that will be a good or not. We wanted to win the group and stay at Wembley and we will wait to see who we play.”
