    Copy linkCopiedSouthgate to ‘adapt’
Gareth Southgate believes England can adapt to injuries and challenges this summer.
The Three Lions boss explained: “The job is here to adapt to the situations you have and they are the cards you dealt with.
“The consequences you are dealt with. The injuries are a complex thing, they are not one of the things you spoke about, but they could be a lot of those things.
“Some have played a lot of football, some have come back earlier than they could’ve been. A lot of matches in the calendar. It’s too easy to say winter World Cup or this or that.
“There’s players with better injury records than others, training intensities. Everyone wants simple solutions, but it isn’t that.”

Marcus Rashford has broken his silence from his shock omission from England’s Euro 2024 squad.
He took to his Instagram story to say: “Wishing Gareth and the boys all the best for the up and coming tournament.”

    Copy linkCopiedThe big question is…
Can this England squad go all the way?
Southgate says: “Everyone is waiting for that headline. I would be an idiot if I said no.
“But equally if I say yes, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a hell of a lot of work ahead of us.
“Are we one of those teams that can win, of which they are a few, yes.”

Could Cole Palmer’s scoring spree for Chelsea relax pressure on Harry Kane?
Southgate says: “Not just Harry but Raheem as well. He was crucial in the last tournaments
“We’ve shared that load as well. Bukayo has weighed in with a lot of goals.
“We need people to come in. To go the distance you need good depth in the squad and the ability to refresh the team as well.”

Copy linkCopiedHow does this squad compare to previous?
Southgate has his say: “I will probably be able to assess that better when we can assess the squad.
“There’s definitely more options in the attacking areas. When I think back to Russia and the team there. It’s hard to compare and contrast. We’ve had to find different ways of playing.
“I think we have a pretty set style of playing now, the players enjoy playing it and we’ve got results, so we’re not going to move too far away from that.”

    Copy linkCopiedPhone a friend
Southgate reveals he has only had time to break the bad news to players NOT included.
He reveals: “I haven’t had time to phone any of the ones we’re bringing in.
“My priority is for the ones who have unfortunately not made the squad. The nice calls are not my priority.”
    Copy linkCopiedWhite noise
Southgate admits there have been no talks with Ben White after the Arsenal star withdrew from the World Cup squad last winter.
The England boss says: “No, as far as I’m aware, he’s not available to us.”

    Copy linkCopiedPhil your boots
On speculation on where Phil Foden will play, Southgate says: “The key with Phil is where he ends up, not in his starting position.
“With City, he’s often allowed to drift and it’s the same with us. Jude has played all season as a 10, but has often defended on the left.
“I think it’s about where you let the players to drift to that’s the key. We would never pin them to one position.
“Phil has had a brilliant season. You want him in those central areas, as you do with one or two others. We have to find a way to make that happen.”

    Copy linkCopiedDier straits
Despite Eric Dier’s form in Germany for Bayern Munich, he did not make the cut.
Southgate says: “He’s played very well for Bayern. I know they are very happy with him.
“He’s just a bit behind the other guys we’ve selected. He’s played in some big games as well. We’ve assessed it all.”

    Copy linkCopiedOn the defensive
On Southgate’s injury woes, he said: “If we picked tomorrow we might take a dozen defenders because we have so many questions.
“In a few weeks it will be much clearer. I think you can take too many forwards. You can have too many options.
“With forwards you have to make them feel loved. With too many options, that can be complicated.”
    Copy linkCopiedNo Shaw thing
Southgate admits injured Luke Shaw faces a fight to get into the final squad.
He says: “I have to say he’s up against it. He’s missed a lot of football.
“I’m not sure what is realistic at this time. I’ve liaised with Man Utd very closely. I’d have to say he’s a long shot.”
    Credit: PA
    Copy linkCopiedYoung guns
Southgate insists young stars will get the chance to shine.
He says: “Everybody has a chance. The reason for a longer squad is we wer ein a similar situation before the last Euros.
“There are some injury issues that are very obvious and apparent and there are some that are more nuanced that we don’t have all the info on.
“Sometimes we need to see the players before making a decision. I think we can make better decisions with time.”
    Copy linkCopiedMore on Henderson’s exclusion
Southgate says: “He’ll be a miss, there’s no doubt about that. He’s a fantastic human being. He’s been in that leadership role for a long time.
“We have young players with a lot of caps. There’s no reason young players can’t lead.
We’ve moved away a little bit from the defined leadership group. Sometimes when you limit that group it means others don’t step forward when they might and defy to a hierarchy.
“I want input from various areas. I have noticed occasions where, even with the captain and vice-captain, there’s a bit of deferential behaviour and we don’t want that.”

    Copy linkCopiedSouthgate says
On Henderson: “The 33 isn’t quite a fair definition because we’re taking a longer squad with some young players who we want to have a look at.
“The determining factor is the injury he had around the last camp. He missed five weeks.
“He’s a fantastic professional. It was a really difficult call to make. He’s been so supportive during my time here.
“Considering the disappointment, they dealt with it really well.”

Gareth Southgate has previously backed Marcus Rashford when his club form has been sub-par, claiming he has continued to play well for his nation.
But he has paid the price for his struggles this term under Erik ten Hag, who has reduced him to the bench in recent weeks.
Henderson, 33, is surprisingly left out given he has been a regular during most of Southgate’s tenure.
But the decision of the 81-cap midfielder to quit Anfield for Saudi Arabia last summer, even if he did leave Al-Ettifaq for Ajax in January, looks to have cost him.
Wharton, 20, has been a revelation since signing for Palace from Blackburn for £22million in January and has been rewarded with an inclusion.
While Reds centre-back Quansah, 21, who spent part of last season at Bristol Rovers, has emerged as a regular under Jurgen Klopp this term and been included.
Team-mate Jones, 23, was England’s best player last summer as they won the Under-21 Euros in Georgia.

Marcus Rashford is OUT of England’s Euros squad after failing to make Gareth Southgate’s 33-man provisional selection for the tournament.
Jordan Henderson is the other big shock omission while Chelsea full-backs Ben Chilwell and Reece James have missed out too.
But Henderson’s former Liverpool team-mates Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah have been included, as well as Crystal Palace sensation Adam Wharton.
All three are uncapped, as are Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite and Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford who have also made the cut.
There was no place for Jadon Sancho, despite gearing up for a Champions League final with loan club Borussia Dortmund.
While Nick Pope, Fikayo Tomori, Levi Colwill and Kalvin Phillips also were left out.

After finding themselves fifteenth in the table at one stage, the late run by Crawley Town in the league campaign has surprised many.
Nobody could have envisaged that they would be lifting this trophy at Wembley today.
Many felt they would be battling relegation this season, instead, they are going up to League One.

Crawley Town fully deserve this result.
From start to finish, they were the better side.
The second goal gave them the cushion they needed to see this game out.

The referee brings the game to a close.
It is party time for Crawley Town, they are going up.
League One beckons for the Red Devils.

90+8. Crewe are starting to get frustrated now.
The challenges are flying in as Crawley look to run the clock down.
Time is almost up for Crewe’s promotion dreams.

90+4. Crawley’s owners came in with a two year plan to get them to League One.
Providing they do not throw this lead away, the Red Devils will have delivered.
They will look to get everyone behind the ball now and make themselves difficult to break down.
    Copy linkCopiedCrawley 2-0 Crewe
90+2. All Crawley need to do now is hold on.
Crewe get down the byline but the cross is poor as it goes straight out for a goal kick.
Crawley opt to make some changes to get fresh legs on for the final eight minutes of the game.
    Copy linkCopiedCrawley 2-0 Crewe
    90. Crewe continue with long balls forward.
It has all become a little more desperate now.
There will be ten additional minutes.

    88. That was cushion Crawley needed in this game.
It seemed a long way back for Crewe when they were a goal down, now it almost seems mission impossible.
They will be hoping for a lot of added time when the fourth official raises his board.

    86. What a moment for Crawley Town.
Kelly looks to square the ball and it is blocked by the sliding challenge of Demetriou.

    80. Once again the quality of the corner is poor.
If they are to go up to League One, Crawley will need to work on their set piece delivery.
They are wasting numerous chances with poor crosses.

    78. Kelly picks the ball up and looks to get a shot at goal.
He catches it well but Stryjek saves as he puts it behind for a corner.
The Red Devils have struggled to get some good delivery in from their set pieces.

Maguire is dealing well with the aerial threat.
Crawley like to get the ball down and play some good football.

    74. Crawley could do with another goal to put this game to bed.
Despite being the better of the two sides, with such a slender lead, Crewe are very much still in this game.

    68. As it stands, Crewe can have no complaints with the scoreline.
They have failed to test Addai in the Crawley goal.
That will have to change if they are to find a way back into this game.

    66. Crewe have gone for a change of formation as they decide to play two strikers in search of a goal.
Tabiner is penalised for a foul and shown a yellow card as a result.
Big chance for Crawley to put a dangerous ball into the box.

    64. Both sides opt to make some changes.
The surprising one is Crawley bringing off Gordon.
He has been by far the best player on the pitch today.

    62. Adebisi is constantly having to deal with the threat of Gordon down the flank.
With the Crewe defender already on a yellow card, he needs to be careful with these challenges.

Here are the stats from that first half as the Arsenal players come back onto the pitch early for this second half.
Again, Everton are making them wait.
Arsenal completed 300 passes in that first half with 12 shots on goal.

    Copy linkCopiedHT: Arsenal 1-1 Everton
Nervy, cagey play early doors. Perhaps a result of Phil Foden’s goal after 79 seconds in Manchester.
Everton then took the lead late on in the half when Gueye’s free kick was deflected into his own net by Declan Rice in the wall.
Tomiyasu leveled things up here, just as Kudus was scoring for West Ham to half their deficit against City.
For a three or four minute spell, it was sheer pandemonium inside the ground.
The reality of it is Arsenal aren’t winning at the moment and Manchester City are. So that needs to change if the Gunners are going to win the league this afternoon.

    Copy linkCopiedHT: Chelsea 1-0 Bournemouth
Mauricio Pochettino’s side lead thanks to Moises Caicedo’s first Premier League goal for Chelsea.
Bournemouth will feel hard done by to go in at the interval trailing, they have created more chances than the hosts.
If they are to find a way back into this game, they need to be more clinical.

Copy linkCopiedHalf-time – Man City 2-1 West Ham
Manchester City are in the box seat and overwhelming favourites to claim the Premier League title…
…but they go in at half-time not as comfortable as they should be.
After an incredibly one-sided first half, there is just one goal between City and their opponents, while Arsenal are back in the match at the Emirates.
Two wonderful – and early – Phil Foden strikes were arguably topped by an audacious Mohammed Kudus effort, and there is still a game and league to be won.

    Copy linkCopiedHT: Brentford 0-3 Newcastle
It has been a disappointing first half from Thomas Frank’s side but will feel Ivan Toney’s disallowed goal changed the game.
Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak with the goals for Eddie Howe’s side.
Hard to see a way back into this game for Brentford now.

    Copy linkCopiedHT: Arsenal 1-1 Everton
Thomas Partey has a shot from just outside the box which goes over the bar.
That’s the last chance of the half as Michael Oliver blows his whistle shortly after.
A chaotic, frantic end to that half, which ends all square.
    Copy linkCopiedArsenal 1-1 Everton
45+4. A naughty rumour is swirling around the stadium that West Ham have scored again.
So once again the place goes nuts and there’s huge cheers from the stands.
Poor Gunners fans in the stands. One of those that is extremely funny if you’re not a fan of the club it happens to.

Copy linkCopiedHT: Brighton 0-0 Man Utd
Roberto De Zerbi will have some choice words for his misfiring attackers.
The Seagulls have been dominant in this game but have not been able to convert the plethora of chances they are creating.
Man Utd have been spectators in this game so far.

    Copy linkCopiedArsenal 1-1 Everton
    45. Seven minutes added on and it’ll be a frantic end to the half.
The atmosphere from that Arsenal goal and news of the West Ham goal has sent this place absolutely bonkers!
What a noise inside the ground now. They have hope once more…
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 1-0 Bournemouth
    45. The visitors are certainly not giving up on this game.
Since the goal, they are giving as good as they get and have created more chances than The Blues.
Kluivert missed a chance when he could not find the target and moments later Tavernier’s left-footed shot is saved by Petrovic.
    Copy linkCopiedArsenal 1-1 Everton
    44. Maybe not quite a canter anymore!
Odegaard is slid in down the right and is inside the area. His first time cutback misses everyone that makes a run towards goal.
That leaves left back Tomiyasu to come steaming in just inside the area to come onto it and strike low and hard beyond Pickford and into the net.
A similar chance to one he had earlier too!
Copy linkCopiedMan City 2-1 West Ham
43, Out of nowhere, Mohammed Kudus has scored one of the most outrageous goals of the Premier League campaign!
At the same time Arsenal were equalising against Everton, West Ham were preparing to take their first corner of the game here.
The inswinger to the back post wasn’t particularly dangerous with Tomas Soucek unable to make anything of it but then enter Kudus.
Flicking the ball up into the air for himself, the Ghanaian then unleashed the most spectacular overhead kick to power past Stefan Ortega and stun the Etihad.
We may still have a title race…

This time the striker makes no mistake as he finds the bottom of the goal with a right-footed shot.
Unless Thomas Frank get his side going here, this could become a messy end to the season.

    40. It looks like City are cantering towards the title now!
McNeil drives 40 yards with the ball before being bundled over by Partey 25 yards from goal on the left of centre.
The Gunners midfielder is booked and Idrissa Gueye is the man to take the free kick.
He looks to go over the wall but catches the head of Declan Rice of all people and it flies into the opposite corner of the net, leaving Raya with no chance with his weight shifted the other way.
Copy linkCopiedThis wasn’t in the script!

Copy linkCopiedMan City 2-0 West Ham
    34. The word from those loveable nerds at Opta is that West Ham have now faced nine shots on target in the first half today.
It is the most they have faced in the first half of a Premier League game since records began at the start of 2003-04.
    Copy linkCopiedBrentford 0-2 Newcastle
    36. Isak does well as he runs with the ball towards goal before playing a defence-splitting pass to Murphy.
He makes no mistake as he slots the ball past Flekken to double the visitors’ lead.
Brentford contributed to the goal thanks to an error from Ethan Pinnock.
    Copy linkCopiedArsenal 0-0 Everton
    36. Sore one for Martinelli there who needs treatment for a couple of minutes or so there.
His eyes light up as he turns inside the box and looks to get a shot away but Tarkowski slides in superbly well to win the ball and Martinelli ends up kicking the defender.
He does eventually come back on after a short spell on the sides.

Copy linkCopiedGoal – Jacob Murphy (Newcastle)
Copy linkCopiedMan City 2-0 West Ham
    31. Erling Haaland nearly nets a third!
Breaking the West Ham offside trap, the City striker tries to squeeze a shot through Alphonse Areola but the keeper gets enough on it to turn it behind.
Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva has has just arrowed the most absurd first time, no-look 50-yard pass to Jeremy Doku. Just ridiculous.
    Copy linkCopiedArsenal 0-0 Everton
    32. It comes from another Everton counter attack.
This time they are 4v3 running towards the Arsenal penalty area and Calvert-Lewin receives a pass inside the box.
He strikes low and hard towards Raya’s near post which beats the keeper but comes back out off the woodwork.
It lands at the feet of the big striker who strikes first time, off balance and sends it into the side netting.
Some of the travelling supporters thought that was in…

Usyk has missed children’s birthdays and even the birth of his daughter during his eight-month camp for the Fury fight, originally scheduled for February before the Briton suffered a cut in training.
His promoter Alex Krassyuk believed that Usyk was denied a knock-out victory when the referee stepped in as Fury looked about to hit the deck in round nine.
“I believe the referee saved Tyson from a knock-out and stole the ninth-round knock-out, which should have happened,” Krassyuk said.
But Usyk said: “No knock-out, no problem.”
“I don’t think about it because we had a win.”

Oleksandr Usyk faces only being able to call himself undisputed champion for a matter of weeks.

Fury lost his WBC title, while Usyk added to his WBA, IBF and WBO belts.
And despite all the attention and build up to the first undisputed heavyweight bout in over 25 years, his status will only last a fraction of that time.
Boxing journalist Dan Rafael has reported that the winner of tonight’s bout will maintain the undisputed title for “less than two weeks”.
It’s said that both Fury and Usyk’s contracts dictate that they must vacate the IBF title ahead of overdue mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic’s bout with Daniel Dubois.
