    LASER PEN
Kasper Schmeichel saved Harry Kane’s extra-time penalty – despite having a LASER pointed at his eye.
Footage emerged which showed a green laser flickering across the Danish stopper’s face, with a fan seemingly looking to distract him.
A steely-faced Schmeichel – who poked fun of England’s lack of major tournament success on Tuesday – was able to focus on Kane and the ball.
The Dane dived expertly to his left to keep out the England skipper’s effort.
Unfortunately for him, his parry fell right to the feet of the Tottenham star, who was able to blast the ball into the net to spark wild celebrations at Wembley.

    BALLS UP
England won the penalty for Harry Kane’s crucial goal against Denmark with TWO BALLS on the pitch.
Raheem Sterling came within inches of dribbling past the extra ball before bursting into the box and being fouled.
Referee Danny Makkelie either missed the incident or decided the second ball was not interfering with play as the attack continued.
But the Dutch official would have been within his right to halt play and bring the move back for a drop ball.
Sterling nonetheless worked his way towards goal and went down after challenges from Joakim Maehle and Mathias Jensen.
Harry Kane took the spot-kick but had it saved by Kasper Schmeichel – only to slam home the rebound to send England through.

    TOUCH OF CLASS
Jack Grealish was taken off after being brought on as a sub.
It’s one of the biggest humiliations a footballer can face, but one that the Aston Villa man has taken with class and dignity.
He knows this is about the team, and what a bold call from Southgate, too, showing he has a mean streak in him.

    ROY KEANE ON ITV

    CAPTAIN HARRY KANE
“It was a different type of win, it was the first time we went behind. We had to dig deep to get past a very good Denmark team. What an opportunity now, with the final at Wembley. The focus turns straight to Sunday now.

    MORE FROM SOUTHGATE
“I haven’t seen the penalty yet but Raheem was a thorn in their side all night and there were a few close calls in that regard.
“We’re in the final and we’ve got to enjoy that fact, but we’ve got one more massive hurdle.
“Italy are a very good side. They’re showing outstanding form and have defensive warriors at the back. It’s a great game to look forward to.
“Finals are to be won. We’ve got to regroup and prepare properly. Tonight has taken a lot physically and emotionally. We’ll think about that on the way back to Burton.”

“I’m so proud of the players. Incredible occasion to be a part of. Fans were incredible all night. We knew it wouldn’t be straight forward and we knew at some point we were going to have to show some resilience and we did that tonight.
“Denmark are so underrated as a team. When you’ve waited as long as we have to get through a semi-final, the players, given the limited experience some of them have, have done an incredible job.
“The most pleasing thing is we’ve given our fans and nation a great night and the journey carries on for another four days.”

“It’s my expectation that they [will] leave.

    HOLD ON JESS A MINUTE
Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard is not keen on being included in a swap deal with West Ham star Declan Rice.
Reports have suggested United are looking to work out an exchange with the Hammers in order to sign Rice in the summer.
According to ESPN, however, Lingard is not on board with that idea even though he enjoyed a brilliant return to form last season while on loan in east London.
Despite his stunning displays at the London Stadium it is not yet certain if he is part of Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans
    GOING THE EXTRA MILE
Aston Villa are not giving up on their bid to sign Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe in the summer.
According to Football London, Villa are desperate to bring Smith Rowe to Villa Park after a number of impressive displays last season.
The Villans have had two bids rejected but that won’t stop them from trying a third time.
Arsenal, however, have absolutely no desire to sell the playmaker
    I LOVE THIS GAME
Manchester United legend Patrice Evra poked some fun on England after Denmark’s opener.
The Danes opened the scoring after 30 minutes with a stunning free-kick by Mikkel Damsgaard.
But he didn’t go hiding after England’s equaliser as he shared a hilarious GIF to “celebrate” it.
    Check out Evra’s reactions:

England have equalised thanks to an own goal by Denmark captain Simon Kjaer on 39 minutes
Bukayo Saka delivered a low cross from the right wing where Raheem Sterling was waiting in front of open goal.
Kjaer tried to clear the ball away with a sliding effort but couldn’t do much.
Referee has just blown his whistle for half-time.

    VARANE FEES
Real Madrid star defender Raphael Varane could earn £300,000-a-week if he signs for Manchester United in the summer.
That is according to Eurosport’s Dean Jones, who claims United could make Varane their highest-paid outfield player.
Jones told The Football Terrace: “They’re continuing to keep other potential ideas in the background.
“They’ll continue to work on options until this goes through.
“But if you get Raphael Varane you get Raphael Varane. So, you know, this would be the one they’d definitely pull the trigger on if they could.
“The personal terms there’s a potential issue that Varane would basically become United’s highest-paid outfield player if this deal goes through.
“From what I’ve told it’ll be getting to about £300,000-a-week”

    ARSENAL CONFIDENT
Arsenal are ‘confident’ they will complete the signing of Brighton ace Ben White.
That is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who claims the Gunners are not giving up on White.
Romano reports that personal terms have already been agreed between the north Londoners and the talented centre-back.
The Seagulls reportedly want £50million for the 23-year-old England international

Jens Stryger Larsen starts at right wing-back with Joakim Maehle on the other wing, while Thomas Delaney and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg link up in midfield.
Martin Braithwaite, Mikkel Damsgaard and Kasper Dolberg lead up front
    ENGLAND FORMATION
England head coach Gareth Southgate appears to have opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation for the Euro 2020 semi-final clash with Denmark.
Jordan Pickford starts between the sticks with Kyle Walker at right-back and Luke Shaw on the other side, while Harry Maguire and John Stones team up at centre-back.
Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips link up in midfield with Mason Mount playing at No10.
Bukayo Saka will be covering the right wing with Raheem Sterling on the other side, while captain Harry Kane leads the line
    DENMARK XI
Here’s who Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand has chosen for his starting line-up against England:
Starting XI: Schmeichel, Christensen, Kjaer, Vestergaard, Larsen, Hojbjerg, Delaney, Maehle, Braithwaite, Damsgaard, Dolberg.
Subs: Lossl, Ronnow, Andersen, Skov, Olsen, Jorgensen, Norgaard, Wass, Wind, Poulsen, Cornelius, Jensen.
    ENGLAND XI
England manager Gareth Southgate has decided to go with the following starting line-up.
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka returns to the fold as he replaces Manchester United-bound Jadon Sancho.
Southgate appears to have opted for a back-four, just like he did against Ukraine.
    More below:

    AOUAR UPDATE
Arsenal are reportedly considering reviving their interest in Lyon ace Houssem Aouar.
That is according to ESPN, who claim the Gunners are still keeping tabs on Aouar in the summer transfer window.
However, no offers have been made for the star playmaker at this juncture.
The north Londoners seem to be waiting on offloading a few players first in order to raise funds for further transfer activity
    TEAM NEWS
England meet Denmark at Wembley in the Euro 2020 semi-finals at 8pm tonight.
Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate has been issued with a major injury boost as Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka has overcome a knock and could start.
Southgate will have to decide if he will play with a back-three or back-four.
Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand, on the other hand, is not expected to make any drastic changes.
Captain Simon Kjaer is set to start after recently overcoming a small knock whereas Yussuf Poulsen could feature on the bench after regaining fitness
    KOUNDE BATTLE
Tottenham are set to battle Manchester United and Arsenal for Sevilla star Jules Kounde’s signature
That is according to La Colina De Nervion, who report that Spurs will make a £50million offer for Kounde.
The north Londoners’ new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo appears very keen on the talented centre-back and wants to make him his first signing for the club.
However, Sevilla are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £70m for the France international
    GETTY IMAGES
    POGBA LINKS
Manchester United star Paul Pogba has attracted a couple of suitors in the summer.
According to 90Min, Juventus are looking to re-sign Pogba, whose contract with United expires next year.
And RMC report that Paris Saint-Germain have contacted the midfielder’s representatives over a potential blockbuster summer move.
The France international seems ‘more than open’ to the idea of leaving the Red Devils for PSG
    RAMOS BLOW
Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have been dealt with a transfer blow amid their interest for former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
That is according to The Guardian, who claim Ramos is set to undergo a medical with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spain international left Real after 16 trophy-laden years when his contract expired.
And the 35-year-old star centre-back is now set to sign a two-year deal with PSG
    SIGN-E HIM
Tottenham as well as Barcelona are interested in signing Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne in the summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The same goes for Liverpool and Atletico Madrid as Insigne’s deal with the Partenopei expires in 2022.
Fabio Santini told Area Napoli: “To make the situation even more complicated is the intense competition for the player.
“I know for sure that there is a strong interest from Liverpool and Atletico Madrid on Lorenzo Insigne”
    HAPPENING WHITE NOW
Manchester City are reportedly planning a last-gasp bid for Ben White, who has been linked with a £50million move to Arsenal.
The Gunners are said to have already agreed terms with White and the deal was supposed to be finalised when he returned from Euro 2020 with England.
But City are closely monitoring developments regarding the Brighton ace, according to talkSPORT.
The Citizens’ backline has been subject to scrutiny over the past few seasons since Vincent Kompany’s exit in 2019.
They cruised to the Premier League trophy last term with John Stones and Ruben Dias marshalling their defence.
But manager Pep Guardiola isn’t taking any chances as he looks to retain the title and sees White as the perfect addition to his defence.
Aside from Arsenal, City will have to fend off interest from rivals Chelsea and Everton who also have their eyes set on the England international

    IT’S COMING ROME
Just a tiny reminder ahead of tonight’s semi-final clash between England and Denmark.
Italy beat Spain on penalties to make it to the Euro 2020 Final.
The Azzurri opened the scoring with a fine finish by Federico Chiesa in the hour-mark.
But Juventus ace Alvaro Morata equalised for the Furia Roja 10 minutes before full-time with a stunning run.
However, Morata then missed Spain’s most crucial penalty before Chelsea star Jorginho beat Unai Simon and sent his country through to the final
    HAK-ED OFF
Chelsea have missed out on transfer target Achraf Hakimi, who stood out last year with Inter Milan.
Hakimi has officially joined Paris Saint-Germain, following an official statement from the club.
The highly-rated full-back put pen to paper on a five-year deal to complete his third transfer in three years.
PSG agreed a £59million fee with Inter last month after the Serie A champions rejected a bid from the Blues
    ENGLAND IN ACTION
England have a date with destiny tonight at Wembley when they take on Denmark in the Euro 2020 semi-finals.
The Three Lions haven’t made it to a final of a major tournament since 1966 when they won the World Cup.

What time does England vs Denmark kick-off?

Kick-off is at 8pm BST tonight.
There will be 60,000 spectators in attendance at Wembley.

    DARLO DUO
There are many clubs that link players on opposing sides of this semi-final, but the most intriguing isn’t Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s Tottenham, Mason Mount and Andreas Christensen’s Chelsea, or even Jadon Sancho and Thomas Delaney’s Borussia Dortmund.
Instead, we’re referring to Darlington FC, currently of the National League North in the sixth tier of English football.
And that’s because the Quakers were responsible for handing senior debuts to the two international goalkeepers on show this evening, having taken both Kasper Schmeichel and Jordan Pickford on loan in 2006 and 2012 respectively.
A 19-year-old Schmeichel joined Darlo on loan from Manchester City 15 years ago when the club were still in League Two, while England goalkeeper Pickford represented the north-east club in the Conference while still on the books of Sunderland.
    LUCKY FOR SOME
An England victory at Wembley this evening would make them the 13th different nation to have ever reached the final of a European Championship.
They’d also be the first newcomer since both Greece and Portugal made it the showpiece of Euro 2004.
Denmark, of course, famously won the competition in 1992 in their first final – despite having initially failed to qualify. Richard Moller Nielsen’s team were only invited following the disqualification of the great Yugoslavia team of the time due to the country’s ongoing war and subsequent break-up.
Let’s pray for a new name on the trophy.

    ONE GOAL WINS IT
England and Denmark have met on seven previous occasions at Wembley Stadium – and, remarkably, EVERY single game has finished 1-0.
The English have come out on top by a single goal on five occasions, but it was the Danes who prevailed on their last trip to London thanks to Christian Eriksen’s first half penalty.
In fact, Denmark have won 1-0 in the last two competitive fixtures with England at Wembley, also returning victorious from their 1983 European Championship qualifier. That too was a game settled by a penalty, on this occasion scored by Allan Simonsen.

England 1-0 Denmark (European Championship qualifier, 1979)
England 0-1 Denmark (European Championship qualifier, 1983)
England 1-0 Denmark (International Friendly, 1988)
England 1-0 Denmark (International Friendly, 1990)
England 1-0 Denmark (International Friendly, 1994)
England 1-0 Denmark (International Friendly, 2014)
England 0-1 Denmark (Nations League Group A2, 2018)

    DANE-ING TO BE DIFFERENT
No other nation at Euro 2020 have spread the goals around like Kasper Hjulmand’s Danes.
So far, Denmark have had seven different scorers at this tournament, and need just one other player to get in on the act for them to equal the European Championship record set by Germany’s eight marksmen in 2021.
Forward Kasper Dolgberg leads the way with three goals, having netted a double against Wales and the decisive second against the Czech Republic.

    COMING HOME LATE
England must wait until September for a victory parade if they win Euro 2020.
The Three Lions have got the nation dreaming of glory, 55 years after their only major tournament success.
They take on Denmark at Wembley tonight in the semi-finals with Italy awaiting the winners on Sunday night.
But according to the Daily Mail, any plans for a mass celebration should England go all the way will be shelved until the autumn.

    MIND GAMES
Gareth Southgate’s side are breaking down the mental barriers to have the time of their lives at Euro 2020.
Rather than being scared or weighed down by England’s history, his fun-loving squad is showing togetherness ahead of tonight’s crunch semi-final showdown with Denmark.
That has been endorsed by Dr. Ian Mitchell, the Three Lions’ Head of Performance Psychology, who will be involved in his third straight last-four appearance in a major tournament after also helping Wales in 2016.
Understated and humble, Mitchell was a key member of Chris Coleman’s coaching staff in France before he joined the FA in February 2018.

    THREE CHEERS
England fans have been out in force today as we countdown to the historic kick off.
Remember, 42 MILLION pints were drunk in the 4-0 thrashing of Ukraine. Will we top this tonight?

    ENGLAND TEAM EXCLUSIVE
SunSport can reveal the England team for tonight, and Bukayo Saka will return to the England side at the expense of Jadon Sancho for the crunch Euro 2020 semi-final clash with Denmark.
The Arsenal ace, 19, was given the nod in last week’s epic 2-0 victory over Germany in front of a raucous Wembley.
Unfortunately the attacker picked up a knock and missed out on the squad that travelled to Rome to face Ukraine on Saturday.
Sancho, who will complete his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United after Euro 2020, stepped in and impressed as the Three Lions romped to a 4-0 win to set-up the semi-final showdown.

    GREAT DANES
Like father, like son. Kasper Schmeichel will be in goal tonight and hoping his side can reach the final of Euro 2020.

    ROAD TO THE FINAL
England have been fantastic in most (Scotland aside) of their five games so far, scoring eight times and conceding none.
And it all comes down to tonight.

    55 YEARS OF HURT
A win tonight for England would see them swan into their first major tournament final since 1966 when they won the World Cup.
Since then it’s been heartbreak after heartbreak, mistakes, drama, delusion and misery.
But, like three years ago at the 2018 World Cup, the current Three Lions crop have the chance to put it all right with victory over a tough Danish side.
England would meet Italy in a massive showpiece final on Sunday, July 11.
The Italians overcame Spain on penalties last night after a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Wembley.
    Bring on this evening.
    NEARLY MEN
Gary Neville has shared some words of wisdom for those England players tonight ahead of the biggest game of their lives.

    SAME AGAIN?
19 years ago this summer, England beat Denmark 3-0 in the last-16 at the World Cup 2002.
Another big stage for the two sides tonight? Repeat or Revenge?

    WE’RE BEHIND YOU
Models from Ukraine’s notorious “Butt Squad” – who were jailed for a racy photo shoot in Dubai – have backed England to win Euro 2020 with a very cheeky display ahead of tonight’s clash with Denmark.
Their cheeky balcony snap on a skyscraper caused outrage when it went viral in April – but now nine of the women daubed their rears with St George’s crosses as they sent a message of support to the Three Lions.

England reached the semi-finals of the European Championship for the first time since 1996 with a 4-0 win against Ukraine in Rome.
Standing between the Three Lions and the final is an inspired Denmark side, who have a good record against Gareth Southgate’s team.

    FER REAL DEAL
Rio Ferdinand believes Gareth Southgate has managed everything in the right way and avoided the mistakes of the ‘Golden Generation’.
The BBC pundit claimed England players in his era often sulked when not picked or gave reasons for not being able to play.
Ferdinand said: “You look at my team especially, players that were coming in with that situation they would have been sulking around the camp at some point, they would have been speaking to their agents at home probably.
“When they get their opportunity they would have been looking for an excuse going ‘actually, I’m not fit enough now’.”

But the English national team are facing a tough obstacle ahead against a strong Danish side.
    Kick-off is at 8pm
    DEAL CLOSE
Joan Laporta claims contract talks are ‘going well’ with Lionel Messi – despite Barcelona’s wage woes.
The legendary Argentine forward, 33, is officially a free agent after his Nou Camp deal expired last week.
Barcelona are eager to keep Messi for at least one more season. But a financial crisis means they must first slash club wages before handing their talisman new terms.
New signings including Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay cannot be registered after Barcelona busted LaLiga’s wage cap. And that has left the door open for ambitious clubs to approach Messi.
However, Barcelona president Laporta is adamant the icon will remain in Catalonia, claiming that talks over a new deal are making good progress.
Laporta told La Sexta: “Everything is going for Messi’s contract.”
Indeed, the outlet adds an agreement has already been reached.

    RUMOUR MIL
Liverpool have contacted Lazio regarding a move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports.
The Reds are reportedly willing to pay up to £68.4million for the midfielder.
But according to Calcio Mercato, Lazio club president Claudio Lotito will demand £85m for the Serbian.
Contract talks between Lazio and Milinkovic-Savic’s representatives are said to be on ‘standby’.
But he does still have three years remaining on his current deal.
Milinkovic-Savic, 26, ‘dreams’ of a move to Real Madrid one day.
The 21-cap international was born in Spain.
But a move doesn’t make sense for Los Blancos this year.

    CAM AND GET IT
Manchester United have found themselves in a bidding war with Chelsea and Arsenal over Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga.
The Ligue 1 side are expected to cash in on Camavinga as his contract expires next year.
The Red Devils and the Gunners are understood to be eyeing up an offer for the young midfielder, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming he could be available for as little as £26million.
It has been stated that the Manchester giants were making progress in their quest to lure the 18-year-old to Old Trafford.
But according to Get French Football News, the France international’s priority is to join Paris Saint-Germain, though they are yet to make a formal bid.
They also state that Blues manager Thomas Tuchel is pushing for a move, with the west Londoners in talks with Camavinga’s agent Jonathan Barnett.

    HOU ARE YOU
Arsenal have reportedly made an offer to Lyon for midfield gem Houssem Aouar following a drop in the asking price for the player.
Le 10 Sport says the Ligue 1 star could cost the Gunners under a third of the £54million fee club officials hoped to get in 2020.
Aouar, 23, had been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates before the start of the 2020-21 season.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is thought to be keen on the versatile attacker who can play centrally or on the wing.
In September reports in France claimed Lyon had turned their noses up at two separate bids from the North London giants of £31m and £34.5m.
However, Le 10 Sport says the Gunners have returned with a fresh offer for the midfielder whose current contract with the French outfit runs out in 2023.
And it is thought LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain could be set to rival Arsenal for the France player’s signature.

    TAKE ON ME
Arsenal are reportedly looking to hijack Tottenham’s move to sign Bologna’s versatile defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The Japan international has been heavily linked with a switch to the white half of North London with Nuno Espirito Santo a keen admirer of the 22-year-old.
It is understood that Spurs, who has already agreed personal terms with the player, have already failed in a £12.9m bid.
Tottenham are claimed to be reluctant to meet the Serie A club’s £17.2m price tag, and are only prepared to pay up to £15.5m.
This has led the Gunners to swoop in an attempt to snatch Tomiyasu, who can play at either centre or right-back, away from their rivals.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, both Arsenal and Spurs are in talks to prise the youngster away from Italy.
He claims that the teams are locked in negotiations with Bologna to find an agreement.

    WAYNE’S WORLD
Wayne Hennessy could be at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war with Burnley and Aston Villa reportedly eyeing moves for the keeper.
The Daily Mail claims the Crystal Palace stopper has attracted interest from the Clarets and the Midlands giants in addition to Chelsea.
Hennessey, 34, was part of the Wales squad who fell to a 4-0 Euros last-16 loss to Denmark.
However, the Bangor-born keeper was on the bench for all four of his nation’s matches.
Hennessey had been at The Eagles until his contract expired at the end of last term.
The veteran stopper is currently a free agent after making 132 Palace appearances across all competitions following his 2014 move to Selhurst Park from Wolves.

    HAA-D TO TAKE
Erling Haaland appears still to be in the denial stage of grief after losing team-mate Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.
The England winger, 21, took to Instagram on Tuesday as he and the Three Lions make their preparations to face Denmark tonight.
He tagged the photo of himself simply with a beaming smile emoji.
But Haaland, who will be without his partner in attack after 18 successful months together at Borussia Dortmund, commented with a crying face emoji.
The reply picked up more than 38,500 likes – with some United fans encouraging him to follow Sancho to Old Trafford so they don’t miss each other.
United confirmed last week they had agreed a £73million transfer fee with Dortmund for the wide man.
Sancho will complete his switch by undergoing a medical and signing the contract after England’s involvement at Euro 2020 ends.

    CAUSING A STER
Raheem Sterling is ‘open to leaving Manchester City’, according to reports.
The winger, 26, joined the Etihad giants for £49million from Liverpool in 2015.
But after a difficult season at club level, in which he reportedly fell out with Pep Guardiola in April, The Athletic say he would be willing to explore a new challenge if an exciting opportunity came up.
And it is thought City may be ready to cash in, especially as Sterling only has two years to run on his current £300,000-a-week deal.
Should he enter the final year of his contract next summer, that would significantly reduce his value and any fee received.
Selling Sterling for around £80m this summer, however, would help fund a record-breaking transfer for either Jack Grealish or Harry Kane, who would both cost at least £100m.

    KRAIN HIRE
Arsenal are reportedly locked in battle with West Ham and Wolves to sign Ukraine forward Roman Yaremchuk.
The 25-year-old striker was one of the shining lights in Ukraine’s run to the Euro 2020 quarter-finals – where they were thrashed by England.
And his club Gent are now fielding calls over a summer transfer from multiple Premier League teams.
Belgian outlet RTBF quote Gent sporting director Michel Louwagie as saying the club want in excess of £13million for his services.
Speaking before the Euros quarter-final in Rome, he said: “I never speak of financial amount, but indeed, we expect to touch a large amount for Yaremchuk – 15 million euros?”

    BAK IN TIME
AC Milan reportedly want to take Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan from Chelsea again next season.
The 26-year-old midfielder has been at Stamford Bridge since 2017 but spent large parts of it out on loan.
The Frenchman spent a season at the San Siro in 2018-19, as well as a year at former club Monaco in 2019-20 and Napoli last season.
CalcioMercato report that AC Milan are lining up another loan move to bolster their midfield.
Milan reportedly had an option to make Bakayoko’s loan permanent for a £35million fee two years ago but declined.

    BACK OF THE NET
Boris Johnson has been lobbying to bring a World Cup home ahead of England’s semi-final clash with the Danes today.
The Prime Minister has wished Gareth Southgate’s team the “best of luck” in getting to the Euro 2020 final as he stepped up his efforts to get a home soil World Cup.
Mr Johnson lobbied for a joint British and Irish based competition during a meeting at No 10 with the president of Uefa, Aleksander Ceferin on Tuesday.
But wishing the Three Lions luck tonight, the PM said: “Gareth Southgate and the England squad have done the nation proud in the Euros, and tonight we will all be wishing them the best of luck in getting to the final. Bring it home!”
Previously Cerefin, whose support is vital to the winning country, has stated that he would want a single European candidate for the 2030 World Cup so that the vote is not split.
In January Boris pledged that he would pump £2.8m towards a joint bid, adding that it was the “right time” to “bring football home”.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun in March, the Prime Minister said: “We are very, very keen to bring football home in 2030. I do think it’s the right place.
“It’s the home of football, it’s the right time. It will be an absolutely wonderful thing for the country.”

    PRICED OUT
Pep Guardiola has insisted Manchester City ‘cannot afford’ to fork out £150million on Harry Kane.
The City boss says they will not be held to ransom over Kane, who yesterday revealed he will hold further talks with Spurs after the Euros, or anyone else.
Guardiola said: “At the prices [quoted] we are not going to buy any strikers. It is impossible, we cannot afford it.
“All clubs are struggling financially; we are not an exception.”

    IT’S ON
Argentina made it to the Copa America final thanks to Emiliano Martinez’s heroics in an intense semi-final clash with Colombia that ended with a penalty shoot-out.
They will now face old rivals Brazil in this weekend’s final.
Argentina and Colombia drew 1-1 during normal time at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia thanks to Lautaro Martinez’s opener for the Albiceleste and Luis Diaz’s equaliser.
Lionel Scaloni’s men opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Giovani Lo Celso’s wonderful through ball found Lionel Messi in the area and the captain passed back to Lautaro who beat David Ospina with a fine finish.
Colombia finally got their equaliser on 61 minutes when Edwin Cardona played Diaz down the left flank and the Porto star completely outran Gonzalo Montiel to beat Martinez from a tight angle.
The penalty shoot-out was as dramatic as the rest of the match with Rodrigo De Paul missing for Argentina following a dreadful shot that went over the crossbar.
But Albiceleste goalkeeper Martinez ended up being the hero as he denied Davinson Sanchez and Yerry Mina as well as Cardona’s critical spot kick.

    WHITE MOVE
Manchester City are reportedly planning a last-minute hijack of Ben White’s proposed £50million move to Arsenal.
The Gunners are said to have already agreed terms with the Brighton defender and the deal was supposed to be completed when he returned from Euro 2020 with England.
But City are closely watching the developments in any possible White move, according to talkSPORT.
The Eithad giants defence has been subject to scrutiny over the past few seasons since Vincent Kompany’s exit in 2019.
They cruised to the Premier League title last term with John Stones and Ruben Dias marshalling their defence.
But Guardiola isn’t taking any chances as he looks to retain the title and sees White as the perfect addition to his back line.
Aside from Arsenal, City will have to fend off interest from rivals Chelsea and Everton who also have their eyes on the White, talkSPORT claim.

    CLUB MATES
Paul Pogba and Ronaldinho took their silky skills to the dancefloor as they hung out in an exclusive Miami club.
The pair embraced and posed for photos while enjoying a summer break in the States.
UFC champion Kamaru Usman, footballers Paulo Dybala and Blaise Matuidi, plus musicians Burna Boy and Zoey Dollaz joined in on the fun.
Pogba’s wife, Zulay, also met the 41-year-old at LIV Nightclub, with the snaps posted to his 56.1 million Instagram followers.
Pogba, 28, has been hanging out with old Juventus pal Dybala, 27, in Miami following France’s early exit from Euro 2020.
Manchester United star Pogba has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the new season.

    GOOD MORNING FOOTBALL FANS
Barcelona legend Lionel Messi’s future has been thrown into further doubt because the Blaugrana cannot register new signings after already exceeding their wage cap, according to reports.
Messi is currently a free agent after his contract with Barca expired on June 30.
And although many expect him to pen a two-year extension at the Nou Camp, that is now reportedly under threat.
Barca are currently in financial disarray as a result of the pandemic, with debt standing at £1billion, and have been told by LaLiga to cut their annual salary to £300million from £331m.
According to Goal, the Catalan giants are operating beyond that figure – even without the Argentina captain signing on again.
The 34-year-old’s latest contract was worth a whopping £2.4m per week – or £123m per year.
But the report also adds Barcelona are not allowed to add new signings to their squad until they have made the necessary savings.
Paris Saint-Germain have tried to capitalise on the situation by offering Messi a lucrative contract, according to AS.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have joined the bidding war for Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga, who is also targeted by Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Ligue 1 side are expected to cash in on Camavinga this summer as his deal expires next year.
The Red Devils and the Gunners are reportedly eyeing up an offer for the young midfielder, with Fabrizio Romano claiming he could be available for as little as £26million.
But according to Get French Football News, the France international’s wish is to join PSG, although Mauricio Pochettino’s side are yet to make a formal bid.
They also state that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is pushing for a move, with the west Londoners in talks with the 18-year-old’s agent Jonathan Barnett.
And finally, Tottenham as well as Barcelona are interested in signing Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The same goes for Liverpool and Atletico Madrid as Insigne’s deal with the Partenopei expires next year.
Fabio Santini told Area Napoli: “To make the situation even more complicated is the intense competition for the player.
“I know for sure that there is a strong interest from Liverpool and Atletico Madrid on Lorenzo Insigne.”

    THAT’S ALL FROM BRASILIA!
Argentina made it to the Copa America Final thanks to Emiliano Martinez’s heroics in an intense semi-final clash that ended with a penalty shoot-out.
The two teams drew 1-1 during normal period at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia thanks to Lautaro Martinez’s opener for the Albiceleste and Luis Diaz’s equaliser.
Lionel Scaloni’s men opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Giovani Lo Celso’s wonderful through ball found Lionel Messi in the area and the captain passed back to Lautaro who beat David Ospina with a fine finish.
Colombia then missed three major chances to equalise, first with Juan Cuadrado who was played in the area thanks to Diaz and was denied by Martinez from close distance just a minute after the Argentines’ opener.
Then Wilmar Barrios fired a powerful shot from the edge of the box that caught a deflection off Lo Celso before hitting the left-hand post.
A minute later Yerry Mina got a header from a corner-kick and forced a spectacular save from the Aston Villa goalkeeper, who lunged towards his top left corner.
Argentina then came close to doubling their lead when Nicolas Gonzalez picked up a header from Messi’s corner-kick but was denied by Ospina from close range.
Colombia finally got their equaliser on 61 minutes when Edwin Cardona played Diaz down the left flank and the Porto star completely outran Gonzalo Montiel to beat Martinez from a tight angle.
Argentina then missed an incredible opportunity to regain the lead when Daniel Munoz lost the ball in midfield and Ospina foolishly came off his area after 74 minutes.
Angel Di Maria dribbled past the Colombia goalkeeper and passed to Lautaro whose shot was blocked on the goal line by Barrios.
Then Messi hit Ospina’s right-hand post after a beautiful through ball by Di Maria in the 80th minute.
The penalty shoot-out was as dramatic as the rest of the match with Rodrigo De Paul missing for Argentina following a dreadful shot that went over the crossbar.
But Albiceleste goalkeeper Martinez ended up being the hero as he denied Davinson Sanchez and Mina as well as Cardona’s critical spot kick.
Messi, Leandro Paredes and Lautaro were all on target whereas Cuadrado and Miguel Borja were the only ones who scored for Colombia.
That led to a 3-2 win for Argentina on penalties and now Scaloni’s men are set to face bitter rivals Brazil on Saturday at the Maracana Stadium.
Colombia, on the other hand, will take on Peru in the third-place play-off the night before.

Argentina and Colombia are going on penalties after a highly entertaining game at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia.
The Albiceleste opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Giovani Lo Celso’s wonderful through ball found Messi in the area and the captain passed back to Lautaro Martinez who beat David Ospina with a fine finish.
Colombia then missed three major chances to equalise, first with Juan Cuadrado who was played in the area thanks to Luis Diaz and was denied by Emiliano Martinez from close distance just a minute after Lautaro’s opener.
Then Wilmar Barrios fired a powerful shot from the edge of the box that caught a deflection off Lo Celso before hitting Martinez’s left-hand post.
A minute later Yerry Mina got a header from a corner-kick and forced a spectacular save from the Argentina goalkeeper, who lunged towards his top left corner.
Argentina then came close to doubling their lead when Nicolas Gonzalez picked up a header from Lionel Messi’s corner-kick but was denied by Ospina from close range.
Colombia finally got their equaliser on 61 minutes when Edwin Cardona played Diaz down the left flank and the Porto star completely outran Gonzalo Montiel to beat Martinez from a tight angle.
Argentina then missed an incredible opportunity to regain the lead when Daniel Munoz lost the ball in midfield and Ospina came off his area after 74 minutes.
Angel Di Maria dribbled past the Colombia goalkeeper and passed to Lautaro whose shot was blocked on the goal line by Barrios.
The Messi hit Ospina’s right-hand post after a beautiful through ball by Di Maria in the 80th minute

But it was the former Chelsea man Morata who missed from the spot in the shootout, allowing current Blues midfielder Jorginho to slide in the winner.

    THAT’S ALL FOLKS!
Italy will meet either Denmark or England (COME ON ENGLAND) in the European Championship final after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Spain.
On a pulsating night at Wembley, Federico Chiesa put Italy in front before Spain substitute Alvaro Morata levelled 10 minutes from the end of normal time.
Morata’s joy would later turn to tears, however, as he missed the decisive spot-kick for his country before Jorginho won it for Italy.
In just a few hours it will be time for England to do their thing. A less nervy encounter would be much appreciated.

    ALBA PROUD
Jordi Alba felt that losing on penalties was harsh on Spain, but believes the future is bright for his nation.
He said: “It’s a hard blow. We deserved a little more. That’s how penalties are. The other day we won and today we lost.
“I’m proud of all the teammates, staff… we’ve formed a magnificent group.
“Today we played one of the best teams that I remember from Italy and now from Europe.
“I’ve been in the national team for nine or 10 years and I haven’t seen a group like this for a long time.
“We have shown that this team is for the World Cup. We were the team with the clearest ideas.
“People are proud of this Spain. We have left everything, we have worked a lot. I am convinced that it will still go further.”

    ROBERTO REACTION
Roberto Mancini insists his side’s Euro 2020 adventure is far from over after Italy booked their place in the final with a penalty shoot-out win over Spain.
The Italian boss told RAI Sport: “Penalties are cruel. Spain are a great side who play really well. We didn’t play the way we usually do but fought hard.
“They caused us problems, but then we got the right co-ordinates and didn’t risk much.
“We knew from the start that Spain were the masters of possession, so they’d cause us problems, but we had to adjust and fight hard.
“Football teams attack and defend, they cannot just attack. We both had chances, these are both great teams, all teams defend, not just Italians.
“The credit goes to the lads, because they believed in all this three years ago, but it’s not over yet.
“We’ve got to gather our strength, what is left, and prepare for the final.”

As mentioned earlier, Tottenham and Barcelona are interested in signing Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne.
The same goes for Liverpool and Atletico Madrid as Insigne’s deal with the Partenopei expires next year.
Fabio Santini told Area Napoli: “To make the situation even more complicated is the intense competition for the player.
“I know for sure that there is a strong interest from Liverpool and Atletico Madrid on Lorenzo Insigne”
    TRIPPIER REACTS
Atletico Madrid star and Manchester United target Kieran Trippier insists he is not paying attention to any transfer speculation and is only focused on England during Euro 2020.
Trippier told The Guardian: “I’ve just enjoyed the season [at Atlético] and we’ve won the title.
“I’m away with England, we’re playing Denmark and I’m not focusing on my club or what is going on.
“I’m just focused on England and doing as best as I can if I play. If I don’t play, I still give 100 per cent”

    VARANE BID
Manchester United are prepared to splash €50million (£42.9m) for Raphael Varane, according to Ian McGarry.
McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast: “He’s a player who has won literally everything.
“He is someone who is out of contract next year so therefore available at a very reasonable price when you consider what good defenders are going for in the current market.
“It’s our understanding that Manchester United are prepared to pay €50m for Varane.
“Real Madrid do not want to lose for free in a year’s time.”
    MAD THING
Arsenal are looking to raise funds in the summer in order to make a move for Leicester star James Maddison.
According to Football London, the Gunners could gather up to £72million through the sales of four players.
Those could be Joe Willock, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles as well as Alexandre Lacazette.
Manager Mikel Arteta is determined to sign a top player to team up with Thomas Partey in the middle of the park

    INJURY NEWS
Italy and Spain are set to lock horns tonight at Wembley Stadium in the Euro 2020 semi-finals.
Of course the Azzurri are going to be without Leonardo Spinazzola, who has been ruled out of the rest of the competition after suffering an Achilles injury against Belgium.
Spinazzola is set to be replaced by Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri at left-back.
The Furia Roja, on the other hand, may be without Pablo Sarabia who suffered a thigh knock against Switzerland.
Manchester City ace Aymeric Laporte also missed a training session but that is understood to have been a matter of recuperation
    MBAPPE ADVICE
Former Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool ace Nicolas Anelka insists Kylian Mbappe should move to the Premier League if he wants to make a real global impact.
Anelka wrote in his column at The Athletic: “So, if you want to be one of the best, then do what you do in Paris but with Chelsea or [Manchester] United or Arsenal or [Manchester] City or Liverpool.
“Or go to Spain to Madrid or Barcelona. Or maybe Italy.
“Then we can speak about a more global impact”

    VARANE PLAN
Manchester United are reportedly ready to spend a total of £75million in total to sign Raphael Varane and Eduardo Camavinga.
According to Marca, United plan to allocate £50m to get Real Madrid star Varane and the other £25m to secure Rennes ace Camavinga’s services next season.
It’s been reported that the Real centre-back has already verbally agreed to join the Red Devils this summer.
But their rivals Chelsea plan to upstage them in signing Camavinga with a last-gasp bid for the talented midfielder
    BIDDING WAR
Arsenal appear to have joined the bidding war for former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
That is according to Goal, who claim the Gunners are weighing up a potential move for Ramos, who is now a free agent.
The Real legend appears close to signing with Paris Saint-Germain but he is still open to the prospect of moving to the Premier League.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also expressed interest for the Spain international
    PAUL-ING AWAY?
Paris Saint-Germain have contacted Paul Pogba’s representatives over a potential blockbuster summer deal.
That is according to RMC, who claim Pogba is ‘more than open’ to the prospect of leaving United for PSG.
The Ligue 1 giants are confident in their bid to land the star midfielder as his contract runs out next year.
Therefore, the Red Devils could be forced to cash in this summer or risk losing the France international for nothing in 2022
    SIGN-E HIM
Tottenham and Barcelona are interested in signing Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne.
That is according to Corriere dello Sport, who claim that Spurs and Barca are believed to have contacted Insigne’s agent as he’s yet to agree a long-term deal at the Serie A club.
Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis is struggling to persuade the winger to commit his future to the club.
The 30-year-old has put together a series of stunning performances at Euro 2020 as he has played a huge role in Italy’s campaign to semi-finals
    GETTY IMAGES
    MESSI FUTURE
Paris Saint-Germain have offered Lionel Messi a lucrative contract after his contract with Barcelona expired.
That is according to AS, who claim PSG are looking to capitalise after Messi became a free agent.
The star forward is currently focused on the Copa America as he led Argentina to the semi-finals and is looking for his first ever international trophy.
Rumours suggested that the 34-year-old legend agreed to sign a new two-year contract with Barca.
But the Balugrana would have to free up £170m in wages if the Argentina captain stayed at the Nou Camp
    CAM AND GET HIM
Chelsea have joined the bidding war for Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga, who is also targeted by Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Ligue 1 side are expected to cash in on Camavinga this summer as his deal expires next year.
The Red Devils and the Gunners are reportedly eyeing up an offer for the young midfielder, with Fabrizio Romano claiming he could be available for as little as £26million.
But according to Get French Football News, the France international’s wish is to join Paris Saint-Germain, although Mauricio Pochettino’s side are yet to make a formal bid.
They also state that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is pushing for a move, with the west Londoners in talks with the 18-year-old’s agent Jonathan Barnett
    GETTING MESSI
That means free signings Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia as well as £6m addition Emerson Royal will allegedly not be officially registered with LaLiga just yet
    EUROS RETURN
Euro 2020 action returns tonight as we reach the semi-final stage.
Italy are going to square off against Spain at Wembley in what poses as the most exciting match of this round.
The winner will go on to face either England or Denmark in the esteemed ground on Sunday.
The Three Lions will be in action tomorrow
    KEEP CALM AND HARRY ON
Two-thirds of England fans think football’s finally coming home this summer ahead of the Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark.
The Three Lions are two wins away from immortality but boss Gareth Southgate has warned the nation against getting carried away.
Almost 60 per cent of 8,595 fans polled backed England to beat Denmark on Wednesday before triumphing past either Italy or Spain in the final.
A more modest 26.7 per cent felt the country would just fall short while a timid 1156 supporters chose to sit on the fence.
SunSport says Keep Calm and Harry On
Our readers are backing the Three Lions
    BALE OUT
Gareth Bale is planning to RETIRE from club football after next season, according to reports.
But the Welshman COULD play for his country at the 2022 World Cup, should they make it.
The Mirror claim that Bale, 32, will see out the last year of his contract at Real Madrid, now that Carlo Ancelotti has replaced Zinedine Zidane.
But they also reckon that he has no intention of siging for another club.

    GRIEZE TO LEAVE
Barcelona are reportedly set to offload Antoine Griezmann in a bid to partially recoup his hefty £108million transfer fee.
The Spanish giants signed the Frenchman in 2019 for the monstrous amount in better times before the Covid pandemic hit a year later.
Since then, they’ve found themselves in dire financial straits and see the sale of the 30-year-old as part of the solution, according to Football.London.
Ronald Koeman’s side find themselves in the precarious position of being unable to register new signings Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay ahead of the new season.
They’ve already exceeded the La Liga’s strict salary cap ruling by more than 40 per cent, and Griezmann’s departure could help change that.
What makes things easier for Barca is that the World Cup winner, whose contract ends in 2024, is reportedly open to a move away from the Nou Camp.
The ex-Atletico Madrid ace is reportedly Pep Guardiola’s Plan B if his proposed £100m move for Tottenham’s Harry Kane falls through.
Griezmann could be sold to alleviate some of Barca’s financial woes
    AOUAR-TOPILOT
Houssem Aouar has reportedly skipped Lyon pre-season training amid transfer interest from Man Utd and Arsenal.
The 23-year-old has allegedly been AWOL for five days and looking to force through a move away from the club.
Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool have all been linked with the French midfielder.
And Get French Football News claim he hasn’t been seen for days despite Lyon saying he is not sick.
The report adds that Aouar is unhappy that Memphis Depay left on a free to join Barcelona.
Houssem Aouar has reportedly skipped Lyon training
    GOING, GOING, GUEN
Marseille have announced the signing of Matteo Guendouzi from Arsenal.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin, after falling out with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
Guendouzi, 22, will now return to Ligue 1, having originally joined Arsenal from Lorient.
The Frenchman moves to Marseille on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

GET THE CHEERS IN – EXCL by Harry Cole
Pubs will be allowed to open until 11:15pm on Sunday night – in case the Euros final goes to extra time and penalties, The Sun can reveal.
Boris Johnson this morning signed off plans for extra drinking time this weekend regardless of whether England make Sunday night’s Wembley showdown.
An emergency tweak of the law will be put forward to the Commons imminently to allow pubs to open for an extra 45 minutes serving on Final day.
Normally they have to shut at 10:30pm on a Sunday but that risked fans – hopefully Three Lions ones – being turfed out if the showdown goes long.
And the change to the law will happen regardless of whether England make the final after their crunch Semis clash with the Danes tomorrow evening.
If the Three Lions are victorious tomorrow evening they will meet the winner of tonight’s last four decider between Spain and favourites Italy at Wembley on Sunday evening at 8pm.

What time does Italy vs Spain kick-off?

Kick-off tonight is at 8pm BST.
There will be 60,000 fans in attendance at the game, which is the biggest attendance the tournament will have seen so far.

What TV channel is it on and can I live stream?

Italy’s semi-final with Spain will be shown live on BBC One.
You can live stream the clash on the BBC iPlayer app, which is available for download onto your mobile, tablet device or Smart TV.

    What is the team news?
One of the tournament’s most impressive players, Leonardo Spinazzola, suffered a cruel Achilles injury against Belgium, ruling him out for six months.
Emerson Palmieri is set to deputise at left-back, while Federico Chiesa looks set to keep Domenico Berardi out of the side at right wing.
Alessandro Florenzi has also recovered from a calf problem sustained in the first group game, but Giovanni Di Lorenzo should continue at right-back after his impressive performances.
For Spain, winger Pablo Sarabia is unlikely to feature after suffering a muscle injury against Switzerland.
Dani Olmo is likely to replace him, while Alvaro Morata continues ahead of Gerard Moreno in attack.
    SEMI-SONIC SPAIN
You won’t find many pundits across the BBC and ITV backing Spain this evening, but they would do well to recall La Roja’s unblemished record when it comes to the semi-finals of European Championships.
The Spanish have won ALL four of their previous matches at this stage of the competition, going on to lift the trophy three times in 1984, 2008 and 2012.

    2-1 v Hungary AET (Madrid, 1964)
    1-1* v Denmark (Lyon, 1984)
    3-0 v Russia (Vienna, 2008)
    0-0* v Portugal (Donetsk, 2012)

    FAN FICTION
SIXTY THOUSAND football supporters will be allowed into this week’s two semi-finals – but don’t expect to see too many that have travelled over from Italy and Spain.
Current quarantine restrictions mean that visitors from either country would be required to isolate on reaching the United Kingdom.
The Italian FA have revealed they only received 125 tickets for the match, while head coach Roberto Mancini added that a lack of fans from Italy and Spain is “unfair.”
However, the former Manchester City manager admitted that playing in front of a large neutral crowd was still preferable to games behind closed doors: “It is better to play in front of the public than in front of a few people. That is the beauty of sport.”
Spanish boss Luis Enrique agreed with Mancini’s sentiment, stating the situation was out of their control: “It is a strange situation. We wish it was different but we accept it.”
Hopefully, the stadium tonight will be full of those Italians and Spaniards now based in the UK.
    TEAM NEWS
The injury suffered by Leonardo Spinazzola late on in Italy’s quarter-final win over Belgium dealt a crushing blow to Italy’s chances of Euro glory – but his teammates have vowed to fight on to the final without him.
The Roma left-back pulled up 13 minutes from the end at Munich’s Football Arena with an Achilles injury, and has been ruled out for at least six months.
Roberto Mancini is expected to replace him this evening with Chelsea’s Emerson, but otherwise the Italy coach is likely to name the same side that started against the Belgians.
That means Federico Chiesa should keep his place on the right of attack with Domenico Berardi waiting in the wings, while striker Ciro Immobile will get another opportunity to lead the line despite the option of Andrea Belotti on the bench.
Spain, meanwhile, have concerns over the fitness of Pablo Sarabia after the PSG forward departed their quarter-final with Switzerland at half-time due to an adductor muscle problem.
Luis Enrique has plenty of options to replace Sarabia in his front three including Wolves’ Adama Traore and Gerard Moreno of Villarreal, but the Spanish coach will most likely opt for 23-year-old Dani Olmo.
Elsewhere, Enrique must decide who partners Aymeric Laporte at the back having rotated Eric Garcia and Pau Torres at centre-half.
Injured Italy star Leonardo Spinazzola has been ruled out for six months.
    SEMI-SATIONAL!
It’s the final four! Welcome to Wembley for our live coverage of the first Euro 2020 semi-final between Italy and Spain.
Twenty-four hours ahead of England’s big night, two giants of the European game do battle for the first spot in Sunday’s showpiece.
Italy are favourites to reach the final, and have been ever since their campaign kicked-off against Turkey in Rome just over three weeks ago.
Roberto Mancini’s men have been magnificent, breaking records left, right and centre thanks to their newfound attacking tempo mixed with some classic defensive dark arts.
However, a long-term injury to one of their stars has cast a shadow over their success, and the Azzurri must now discover a way to progress without Leonardo Spinazzola rampaging up and down the left.
In stark contrast, little was expected of a Spanish squad in transition ahead of the tournament, and just one victory inside 90 minutes from their five games so far justifies their critics.
Yet La Roja are making a habit of finding a way to win when they need one most, and history shows that they’re not a nation for faltering once at the semi-final stage.
Indeed, if coach Luis Enrique can finally get Alvaro Morata firing up front, it could well be Spain ascending the Wembley steps at the weekend to lift the Henri Delaunay Trophy for a third time in 13 years
