Ache headed Germany right back into it with seven minutes to play.
But Paulinho wrapped it up in stoppage time with a goal on the break.
Brazil really should have been out of sight as Cunha missed several sitters, including from the spot.
The scoreline probably flatters Germany in the end.
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!
FULL-TIME IN YOKOHAMA: BRAZIL 4-2 GERMANY

    BRAZIL 4-2 GERMANY
90+4′ Another through ball and Paulinho is clear in behind. He has options in the middle but opts to go on his own.
He ducks inside the challenge and lashes it into the top corner from 12 yards.

    GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!
FINALLY, IT’S GAME OVER AS BRAZIL SCORE A FOURTH!
    BRAZIL 3-2 GERMANY
90+3′ Cunha clean through. Absolutely nobody to beat except the keeper and he overruns it into the keeper.
Big reputation and goals at youth level but his finishing has been shocking this afternoon.
    BRAZIL 3-2 GERMANY
90+2′ Alves picks out Cunha who breaks in behind.
He finds Paulinho inside the box but his shot is blocked. Appeals for a penalty but that would have been softer than their first.
    BRAZIL 3-2 GERMANY
    FIVE MINUTES ADDED!

    BRAZIL 3-2 GERMANY
89′ Brazil break and are 4v2. Paulinho and Cunha are inside the area against one defender and the former makes a right mess of it trying to go alone.
He had a man completely free and eventually is smothered and concedes a free kick.
    BRAZIL 3-2 GERMANY
88′ Douglas Luiz has a go from 25 yards and it’s absolutely terrible, going miles over.
    BRAZIL 3-2 GERMANY

He is raging about the decision but the tackle was high.

    BRAZIL 3-2 GERMANY
84′ Germany take the free kick short to Raum on the left. He takes one touch to settle and another to whip the ball into the area.
Ache rises highest to power a header home from seven yards out, beyond Santos.
    Game on!
    GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!
IT’S 3-2! AN INTERESTINNG FINAL 10 MINUTES TO COME!
    BRAZIL 3-1 GERMANY
83′ Douglas Luiz with a YELLOW CARD for an accumulation of fouls.
Free kick Germany, midway inside the Brazil half.
    BRAZIL 3-1 GERMANY
81′ Cunha again should be on the scoresheet. Paulinho’s ball in not dealt with and the ball deflects up and catches the Brazilian on the arm.
Unlucky with that one but could quite easily have outscored Richarlison today.
    BRAZIL 3-1 GERMANY
79′ Bruno spots another run from Dani Alves down the right but it’s just too heavy and goes behind.
    Germany sub

    OFF – Stach
    ON – Schlotterbeck

    BRAZIL 3-1 GERMANY
77′ Bruno’s clever first-time ball picks out Reinier inside the area in miles of room.
His touch lets him down with just the keeper to beat and Muller races out to collect.
    BRAZIL 3-1 GERMANY
75′ They’re queuing up to add a fourth. Reinier lays it off on the edge for Bruno Guimaraes who sidefoots it towards the corner and Muller again saves really well.
They get the second ball and a strike from the edge is sent over.
    BRAZIL 3-1 GERMANY
Brazil now looking to make subs to give their star players a rest.

    OFF – Richarlison & Antony
    ON – Reinier & Paulinho

    A switch for Germany too

    OFF – Amiri
    ON – Teuchert

    GOAL BACK
The strike from Amiri but what is the keeper doing here??

    THAT’S ALL FROM SAPPORO!
Australia defeated Argentina 2-0 at the Sapporo Dome following an exciting group stage encounter in the Tokyo Olympics.
The Socceroos opened the scoring after 14 minutes when Joel King set Lachlan Wales in front of Jeremias Ledesma with a crisp cross from the left flank and the centre-forward didn’t miss.
The Aussies came close to a second when Riley McGree produced an astonishing overhead kick inside the box but was denied by Ledesma on 28 minutes.
Argentina responded in the 34th minute with a stunning curling shot by Esequiel Barco down the left flank that rattled Thomas Glover’s crossbar.
Australia then came excruciatingly close to a second goal as King set Wales up again in front of Ledesma and the latter’s shot rattled the post – wouldn’t have mattered though as the former was caught offside in the build-up after 43 minutes.
Things got worse for the Albiceleste in the second minute of stoppage time when Francisco Ortega was sent off with a second yellow card within a few seconds for what the referee deemed to be aggressive marking on McGree.
Argentina, though, wouldn’t be daunted as they continued to dominate possession and tempo in the second half, even though they were a man down.
But Australia continued to register the big chances with Wales failing to beat Ledesma one on one on 71 minutes and Connor Metcalfe almost catching the Argentine keeper out of position with a long-range shot from the middle of the park two minutes later.
It didn’t matter, however, as Marco Tilio hit the back of the net with a fine left-footed shot at the edge of the box on 80 minutes thanks to Mitch Duke’s assist just a few seconds after coming on to the pitch.
Duke almost made it three in the fifth minute of stoppage time but just missed Ledesma’s bottom left corner.

    TOKYO CRISIS
The delayed 2020 Olympic Games are scheduled to take place this summer after last year’s postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, there is still doubt about this year as well, that is because COVID-19 cases remain high in Japan and the vaccination rollout has been quite slow.
So far, 91 cases have been connected to the Tokyo Olympics with athletes and several other officials forcing to self-isolate, while others have been ruled out of the Games altogether.
And the head of the Tokyo organising committee Toshiro Muto hasn’t ruled out a shock cancellation at the 11th hour

    THAT’S ALL FROM SAPPORO!
Spain and Egypt remained goalless after a rather hapless Tokyo 2020 start at the Sapporo Dome.
The Furia Roja were the better side but also the unluckiest as they lost both Oscar Mingueza and Dani Ceballos to injury in the first half.
Mingueza limped off on 22 minutes following a rough challenge whereas Ceballos hobbled off during stoppage time due to a clash with Taher Mohamed.
The former Arsenal loanee created the game’s biggest opportunity on 27 minutes before his injury.
The Real Madrid ace rattled Mohamed Elshenawy’s post when his wonderful curling shot just missed the bottom left corner.
The Furia Roja struggled to create threats in the second half but came extremely close to a winner on 88 minutes when a superb cross from Bryan Gill down the left flank found Rafa Mir unmarked but his header went straight to Elshenawy’s hands.
Jesus Vallejo then picked up a loose header down the right wing and tried to score from a tight angle but his the side-netting during stoppage time.
Both teams will now wait and see what Group C rivals Argentina and Australia do in their upcoming encounter.
Thank you for following the action with SunSport, have a lovely rest of the day!

Can Spain score the winner or will Egypt hold on?
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
    89 SUBSTITUTION
A late change from Egypt manager Shawky as Fouad replaces Eraky.
Galal also got booked earlier on for a very dangerous tackle in the build-up to Mir’s unbelievable chance
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
    88 WHAT A CHANCE!
Spain miss an unbelievable chance to score the winner!
Gil delivers a magnificent cross from the left and finds Mir completely unmarked but his header goes straight to Elshenawy!
    How did he miss that?!
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
85 Five more minutes to go and Egypt can taste that valuable point.
Spain are struggling to create threats without Olmo and Ceballos on the pitch
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
83 Urgency is starting to pile up for Spain as Simon is also moving a little forward.
But the Furia Roja are unable to break Egypt’s backline
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
80 We got 10 more minutes to go until full-time and Egypt are suddenly looking more comfortable.
Not because they are better, but because a draw would be a perfect result for them
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
79 Nothing comes of this as Mir’s shot gets deflected on Egypt’s wall.
Spain are really running out of time
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
    78 YELLOW CARD
Egypt captain Hegazy gets booked for a dangerous challenge on the edge of the box.
The former West Brom ace tackles Miranda with both his legs in what could have been a red-card offence.
Great opportunity for Spain to open the scoring
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
77 Spain keeper Simon just made his first save, sort of…
The shot-stopper picked up a corner-kick from Egypt and basically touched the ball for the first time in the match
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
75 Egypt are slowly gaining ground but are unable to produce anything substantial.
Spain’s substitutes are not adding any spark, if anything the Furia Roja now look weaker
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
73 Still goalless in Sapporo and we haven’t seen any major opportunities.
Time is slowly running out for both teams, but Egypt are not too bothered as a draw could do wonders for them
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
70 This is a major opportunity for Gil, who stood out in last season’s La Liga campaign.
Here’s why the Spain star is highly-rated:
7 – No player born in 2000 or later was directly involved in more goals than Bryan Gil 🇪🇸 in LaLiga 2020/21 (4 goals and 3 assists – level with Rodrygo Goes 🇧🇷 1 and 6). Diamond. pic.twitter.com/wcOZ8AUFN3— OptaJose (@OptaJose) July 20, 2021

    65 CHANCE
Egypt show some life as Hamdy tries a left-footed curling effort that just misses Simon’s post.
    Much better from the Pharaohs
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
    63 SUBSTITUTION
Egypt manager Shawky shakes things up with a triple change.
Hamdy, Mohsen and Adel come on for Ashour, Rayan and Mohamed respectively
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
60 Egypt manager Shawky is urging his players to move forward.
No one has had it easier in this game than Simon back in Spain’s goal
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
58 We have yet to see a big chance in the second half but Spain are really knocking on Egypt’s door.
As it stands, the Pharaohs could only produce a goalscoring opportunity from a counter-attack or a set-piece.
Problem is they have yet to register any of those two
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
56 Spain’s midfield has been outstanding so far throughout the match.
Merino and Pedri have been completely running this game for the Furia Roja
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
    53 PENALTY SHOUT
Merino is on the ground and Spain are protesting for a penalty after the Spaniard clashes with Hegazi.
But it seems like it is the Furia Roja ace that fouls the Egypt captain.
The former West Brom player doesn’t make things easier when he taps Merino with his foot on the ground thinking his counterpart is faking
    SPAIN 0-0 EGYPT
53 Spain have been really good in feeding the wings with some fine balls from the centre.
That is a main issue Egypt’s backline and midfield need to fix

That’s a good statement for the next games that are coming up.Hege RiiseTeam GB women’s coach
    COACH RIISE ON GB’S WIN
White’s double was exactly what coach Hege Riise wanted and she hailed her sharpshooter.
Riise said: “We trust Ellen to score goals and she does.
“But it’s not just that. She fights hard and works 90 minutes to score and get others in. She is important to the team and gives confidence to the team.”
Riise added: “We talked about how we had been waiting for this game a long time and were eager to start.
“You could see that everywhere on the field.
“Our start was exceptional. The first 30 minutes was the best we have played and we kept it going.
“It wasn’t pretty the whole game but we fought and managed to get the win we wanted, kept them away from our goal and scored twice.
    ELLEN WHITE ON GOALS
“It was a great knock down by Lauren Hemp for the first and an amazing cross by Lucy Bronze for the second.
“We’ve worked hard on fitness, strength and conditioning and in training to build connections and relationships.
“So we feel really delighted but there’s more to come. I feel we can grow and develop as this tournament goes on.”
As a squad and staff we worked really hard for this moment and I’m proud of the whole squad but it doesn’t stop here for us.Ellen WhiteTeam GB striker
WE WERE ALL WHITE ON THE NIGHT
Ellen White gave Team GB a dream Olympics start and vowed: “This is just the beginning,” writes MARTIN LIPTON.
England ace White, the goalscoring star of the 2019 World Cup semi-final run, was back doing what she does best with one in each half as Chile were outplayed 2-0 in Sapporo.
White said: “I’m delighted to contribute to the team and score two.
“I feel really proud to open the Olympic Games with Team GB.”
    GOLDEN MOMENT
The Britain team dropped to take the knee prior to kick off against Chile.
Chile stopped for a short moment before they too joined in the gesture in their entirety 👏

    NEXT UP
Tougher games lie in wait for the Team GB women’s side.
And they start on Saturday against hosts Japan.
Group E is then concluded next Tuesday against Canada.
But it’s a win to start the group and just the ideal start that Hege Riise would have wanted.
    CELE TIME
Trademark celebration from Team GB’s hero on matchday one.

    PROCEDURE TIME
An idea of the procedures in place as staff spray the park with disinfectant at full time, seconds after the players leave the pitch!

    DOMINANT STUFF
The full-time stats don’t really do it justice, despite them also showing the heavy dominance GB had.
    Possession – GB 61%; Chile 39%
Attempts at goal – GB 20; Chile 2
    On target – GB 7; Chile 1
    Corners – GB 4; Chile 0
    FT: TEAM GB 2-0 CHILE
A routine win for the GB side who really could and should have won by more.
An Ellen White double was enough to get the Olympics off to a flying start for the whole Team GB Olympics squad.

    TEAM GB 2-0 CHILE
90+2′ Chance for Chile down the right with Acuna in plenty of room.
A heavy touch allows Bright to come across and see the ball out of play for a goal kick, despite Acuna’s best attempt at winning a free kick with a couple of rolls.
    TEAM GB 2-0 CHILE
90+1′ An even later GB change as the other Scotland star is given an early rest

She screams before claiming the ball unchallenged.
Forgot she was playing in this second half……
    TEAM GB 2-0 CHILE
85′ Houghton reads an attempted counter on halfway and breaks herself.
She has Parris wide on the right in acres of room but opts for a strike at goal from 25 yards which is blocked.

    TEAM GB 2-0 CHILE
82′ Damage limitation as Chile look to see out the game at just a two-goal defeat.
White flicks on for Parris inside the area but her header is wide.
Then a clipped ball is headed down by Daly looking for White but it’s slashed away.
    TEAM GB 2-0 CHILE
    80′ Chile sub:

    OFF – Lopez
    ON – Balmaceda

    TEAM GB 2-0 CHILE
79′ Rachel Daly gets forward down the left.
She drops inside on her right foot and fires a powerful strike at goal, straight down the throat of Endler who catches.

The Scottish midfielder with a volley from 15 yards which she balloons well over.

    TEAM GB 2-0 CHILE
    That SHOULD be that!
Parris has the ball inside the box and does well to pick out Bronze outside the area.
She drifts by a challenge and clips a ball to the back post where White acrobatically volleys home from eight yards.

F1 British Grand Prix LIVE RESULTS: Verstappen HITS OUT at ‘dangerous’ Hamilton after controversial win – latest

LEWIS HAMILTON has won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. But it has been in controversial fashion after colliding with Max Verstappen in the first lap in an incident which saw the Championship leader crash out.
Hamilton was given a 10-second penalty and fought back in stunning fashion for victory on home turf.
Verstappen has been taken to hospital to be checked out following the horror crash.

    COOL DOWN
Charles Leclerc wore an ice vest to combat the 30C Silverstone temperatures, writes ANTHONY CHAPMAN.
But the heat on track proved too much for Ferrari’s French driver as he blew his race-long lead at the death to Lewis Hamilton.
Leclerc took top spot at the British GP on the first lap after a dramatic collision between Hamilton and Max Verstappen, saw the Red Bull ace smash into the barriers at 180mph before dropping out of the race.
After a red-flag delay, Leclerc was ice-cool at the restart in front of a bumper crowd at Silverstone while also being watched by celebs including Tom Cruise in the pit lanes.
And his secret may have been an ice vest he wore before the race started.
The temperature hit over 30C in Britain today, with the race track hitting a crazy 52C.
And it looked like Leclerc’s method was proving to be a winner as he led the race up until the 50th lap.

    WELL WISHES
British Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton has sent his competitor Max Verstappen well wishes after the pair collided at turn nine in the first lap.
Verstappen was sent spinning off the track, crashing into the barrier at high speed.
On Twitter, Hamilton said: “Today is a reminder of the dangers in this sport.
“I send my best wishes to Max who is an incredible competitor. I’m glad to hear he is ok.
“I will always race hard but always fairly. My team showed grit and perseverance out there.
“It’s a dream to win in front of my home crowd.”

    BRIT GRIT
On the same corner which saw Verstappen crash into the barrier, Hamilton pulled off one of the moves of the race to overtake Leclerc and win the race.

Lewis Hamilton pulls off huge F1 British Grand Prix win in front of Silverstone fans after penalty for Verstappen crash
    HAM RAM

    MAX HITS BACK
Max Verstappen has slammed Lewis Hamilton for ‘disrespectful’ and ‘unsportsmanlike’ celebrations while he was taken to hospital.
The Dutchman’s crash registered at 51G on the G-force scale and he underwent precautionary checks after gingerly climbing out of the car.
He said on Twitter: “Glad I’m ok. Very disappointed with being taken out like this.
“The penalty given does not help us and doesn’t do justice to the dangerous move Lewis made on track.
“Watching the celebrations while still in hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behaviour but we move on.”

    LEWIS DISMISSES HOLLOW CLAIM
Lewis Hamilton has insisted the win does not feel ‘hollow’, as Red Bull boss Christian Horner claimed it should.
The racer says: “It doesn’t feel hollow.
“There’s 2000 people that work incredibly hard in my team, it’s not just about me. I said this is not what I want to happen in a race.
“It’s important for all of us to take a step back, I’m sure emotions are running high [at Red Bull] and I know what it’s like to be in that position.”

    BOTTAS GIVES HIS TAKE
Valtteri Bottas agrees with Charles Leclerc that both drivers had something to blame in the Max Verstappen-Lewis Hamilton crash.
He tells reporters: “I saw them fighting and had a feeling something was going to happen.
“But it happens, it’s racing. I feel like Lewis fully deserved the win today.”
    CHARLES ON THE CRASH
Charles Leclerc speaking to the press on his view of the Lap 1 crash.
He says: “It is very difficult to judge it from the car, I could see there were quite a few things going on in front of me.
“I think it’s a racing incident, it’s difficult to put the blame on one or the other. Maybe Lewis was not completely at the apex but Max was quite aggressive on the outside.”
    TRIBUTE TO LEGEND MURRAY
Look closely at this shot of Lewis Hamilton throwing his trophy in the air and you’ll spot a nod to Murray Walker.
The commentary legend, who died earlier this year at the age of 97, is depicted on the stand of the trophy with his iconic quote: “Excuse me while I interrupt myself.”

    TAKE IT IN
Silverstone put on one hell of a show today.

    CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS
That result cuts Max Verstappen’s lead atop the championship to just eight points.

    GREAT DAY FOR LANDO
Lando Norris would be right to be disappointed given his slow pit stop cost him a potential podium today.
But the Brit put in a great drive to come home fourth, 14 seconds clear of team-mate Daniel Ricciardo.
And it puts him third in the drivers’ championship, leapfrogging Sergio Perez.

    FULL CLASSIFICATION
Here is how the 2021 Formula One British Grand Prix finished.

    PODIUM JOY
Lewis Hamilton is doused in champagne by Valtteri Bottas after receiving the British Grand Prix trophy.
It’s all smiles for Mercedes after five races without a win.
    LEWIS OVERJOYED
Lewis Hamilton gives his take, and tells the crowd: “It’s massively overwhelming, and physically really difficult.
“We have the best best crowd, a home crowd is the best crowd. They ain’t got what we got!
“I’m so grateful, this is a dream for me today. I couldn’t have done it without the teamwork of Valtteri and the team.
“Max is very aggressive and I was fully alongside him, but regardless of the penalty I take it on the chin.”
His dad, Anthony, and Tom Cruise are there for big hugs.

    BOTTAS REACTS
Valtteri Bottas, third says: “At least we got Lando for myself and Lewis got the win.
“As a team, its a strong weekend and we go again in two weeks.”
    LECLERC’S MIXED EMOTIONS
Charles Leclerc speaks to Jenson Button after jumping out of the car.
He says: “It’s difficult to enjoy.
“I gave it not 100 but 200 per cent, it was just not enough in the last two laps.
“Congratulations to Lewis, it was amazing to see the fans in the stands. It was fun, I just lacked a bit of pace late on.”
RED BULL DENY LEWIS A POINT
Lewis Hamilton runs off across the grass to savour the win in front of the fans.
However, Red Bull did nab a point off him as Sergio Perez pitted late for Softs and took his fastest lap – which won’t win the Mexican anything as he finished 16th.
    Every silver lining…
    MERC FIGHTBACK BEGINS
The Union Jack is out for Lewis Hamilton as he parades around Silverstone.
He tells team radio: “Great job guys, this goes to everyone in the team and back at the factory. I’m so inspired by you guys, thank you.”
Toto Wolff tells him the title fight is still on, and Lewis fires back: “Damn right.”
    CHEQUERED FLAG – LEWIS WINS
It is glory for Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone as he survives a tangle with Max Verstappen, a ten-second penalty, and a great race from Charles Leclerc to take the win!
    LAP 52/52
Charles Leclerc can’t fight that, dropping a couple of seconds back instantly.
One more time around Silverstone for Lewis Hamilton to win the British Grand Prix…
    HAMILTON ON FOR THE WIN

The Brit held back a bit more this time and Charles Leclerc drifted over the kerb and into the run-off area.
    The fans go wild!
    LEWIS INTO THE LEAD

    BATTLE OF THE BRITS
Lando Norris has Lewis Hamilton breathing down his neck and going about a second a lap quicker.
And he puts up little fight as the veteran takes third place at Abbey.
    LECLERC PITS
Ferrari do a better job of this one and the race leader spends only 2.6 seconds in the bay.
Charles Leclerc comes out with seven seconds on Valtteri Bottas and 13 clear of Lewis Hamilton, can the Mercs work their magic?
    LAP 30/52
Do not rule out Valtteri Bottas for the win today.
With the fastest lap, the Finn is flying and 26.5 seconds behind Charles Leclerc.
Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz’s stop is very very slow – a 12.3-second tyre change wrecking the good work he did in going long in his first stint.
    HAMILTON PITS
Here comes Lewis Hamilton, who serves ten seconds before his crew can change his tyres.
On go the Hards, eventually, and he comes out behind Lando Norris in fifth.
That leaves a Ferrari one-two, neither of which have stopped.
    LAP 26/52
We are halfway and waiting on who will pit first out of the two leaders.
Charles Leclerc has put over two seconds between himself and Lewis Hamilton, but is still receiving instructions to avoid his engine cut-outs.
    Credit: Reuters
    BOTTAS JUMPS NORRIS
That right-rear would just not go on for Lando Norris.
In comes Valtteri Bottas and the Finn is into de-facto third as he leaves the pits only a few car lengths clear of the McLaren.
    MCLARENS PIT
Lando Norris with a slow stop!
That took about four seconds longer than it needed and it may cost the Brit a podium.
    LAP 20/52
Lewis Hamilton not yet able to launch an attack, as Charles Leclerc puts in a new fastest lap.
Behind, Lando Norris is more than holding his own over Valtteri Bottas and the pair are over ten seconds clear of Daniel Ricciardo in fifth.
And a number of the backmarkers are in the pits for Hard tyres, having started on the Mediums.
    HAMILTON ON THE CHARGE
The reigning champ may be sensing blood after that, as Charles Leclerc reports of ANOTHER momentary engine cut-out.
Lewis Hamilton is in DRS range, with the advantage down to under a second…
    LECLERC PROBLEM
Charles Leclerc loses a chunk of time and tells team radio that his engine cut out.
Mercifully for the Ferrari star, it kicks back in and he’s only lost a few tenths.
The team provide a bunch of instructions over radio and tell him: “Everything should be fine now.”
    WHAT WILL LEWIS DO?
Lewis Hamilton has a few options at his disposal.
Does he use up his tyres to try and catch Charles Leclerc, with the aim of overtaking him and driving off into the distance?
Or preserve his tyres, hang back a bit and wait until the Ferrari pits – at which point he gives it the beans.
It appears he’s favouring the latter right now.
We’re onto Lap 13/52. An hour after the start, we’re only a quarter of the way through the race.
    TOP SIX ARE PULLING AWAY
The Mercedes, Ferraris and McLarens are putting a bit of a gap back to the midfield now.
Carlos Sainz in sixth is 4.8 seconds clear of Fernando Alonso in seventh, a gap that is growing while the Spaniard battles Daniel Ricciardo.

    LAP 8/52
Valtteri Bottas is fighting back at Lando Norris for a place in third – although it is de facto second with Lewis Hamilton’s penalty.
The Brit puts in the fastest lap in his Mercedes as he looks to make up the time.
    BIG JOB ON FOR HAMILTON
Lewis Hamilton will have to fight his way through the pack after pitting due to that penalty.
Sergio Perez is also a guy to keep an eye on, starting from the back he is now 14th and on the charge.
Sebastian Vettel takes his place in 19th, replays show how he just lost control while battling for position and performed a 360.
    LEWIS PENALTY
It’s a ten-second time penalty for Lewis Hamilton.
He will serve it when he pits.
    LECLERC LEADS
As we begin Lap 5, over 45 minutes after the race began, Charles Leclerc has opened up a second lead over Lewi Hamilton.
    VETTEL SPINS
Sebastian Vettel is off but keeps it out of the barrier.
    GO GO GO… AGAIN!
This time Lewis Hamilton does not get the jump, but Lando Norris did and is third.
    FORMATION LAP
We will have a formation lap and then another standing start off the grid.
Let’s keep it clean this time, eh lads?
    Credit: EPA
    WE RACE AGAIN
The red flag period is over and the safety car leads the pack out of the pits.
    ‘RELIEF’
Christian Horner has confirmed that Max Verstappen was able to walk to the medical centre for checks.
It was an absolutely mega 51G crash.

    GOODBYE FROM PRIDE PARK
Man United got their pre-season off to a strong start with a decent performance across the board away from home against an industrious Derby side.

With a host of first-team players unavailable, Solskjaer turned to his young guns and experienced squad players to come up with the goods and they didn’t let him down, with Jesse Lingard in particular performing well.
Wayne Rooney got his second season at the helm at Derby off to a losing start but has plenty of positive to take from the game, with his depleted squad getting much needed minutes in the tank against strong opposition.

Next up Derby take on Salford City at home on Saturday, whilst Man United face QPR away on the same day as both managers look to build some rhythm and confidence ahead of the start of their domestic campaigns.
With United’s senior players gradually returning following their involvement in international competition over the summer, United fans can likely expect to see the youngsters in action again for the next few games.

Less than a month to go until they take on old foes Leeds United at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season but there’s still plenty time for these players to stake their claims to be involved.
That’s all from us, bye for now.
    START ME UP
United fans got a glimpse of their new kit in action for the first time this afternoon and may take it as a good omen for the season that they got off to a winning start.

    CAPTAIN FANTASTIC
Ex-Red Tom Lawrence put in a solid shift in midfield for Derby this afternoon, wearing the captain’s armband for the first time. Lawrence will undoubtedly play a key role for Derby in the Championship this season.

    BACK IN RED
Tom Heaton played his first 45 minutes in a United today shirt since he left the club back in 2010 and shared his thoughts on the performance and the upcoming season with MUTV.

    FLYING START
United fans got their first glimpse of Facundo Pellistri in red today and he took his goal very well, looking calm and composed on the ball and direct in his attacking play.

    FT: DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
The Red Devils got off to a slow start in their first game of pre-season, but managed to take the lead through the persistence and directness of Tahith Chong, who scored the opener after 18 minutes.

Chong may have been lucky not to have his goal disallowed as it looked to strike his arm after it rebounded off Kelle Roos, but he was given the benefit of the doubt and the goal stood.
Derby grew into the game and came close through the energy and pace of Nathan Byrne and the vision of ex-Red Tom Lawrence, forcing one or two saves from Tom Heaton on his return to the United fold.
    NINTCHDBPICT000666781077Credit: Reuters
Solskjaer made wholesale changes at half-time with a new-look United front line including Shola Shoretire, Facundo Pellistri and Jesse Lingard making an immediate impact and causing Derby all kinds of problems.
Shoretire and Pellistri combined superbly to open up the Derby defence after 59 minutes as Shoretire put Pellistri through on goal, who calmly rounded the keeper and slotted home to make it 2-0.

Derby didn’t roll over, however, and Rooney made a series of changes, including the introduction of veteran striker Colin Kazim-Richards, whose 25 yard strike into the bottom corner got Derby back in it after 70 minutes.
Jesse Lingard looked to extend United’s lead and was instrumental in all of their attacking play, hitting the bar with a cracking strike from 25 yards.

Derby tried to get back in it, with Kazim-Richards in particular probing the United defence, but ultimately the game seemed to fizzle out somewhat and neither side looked particularly dangerous right at the death.
It was an exciting game with a good intensity for a pre-season match and both managers will be pleased to get some minutes under the belts of their players, with plenty of positives to take from both sides.
    Credit: Reuters
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
That’s it, it’s full-time here at Pride Park and it’s been an interesting and entertaining 90 minutes.
    FT: DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
    DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
    90. Derby manage to keep the ball in the United half for the first time in a while but are unable to create anything meaningful, passing it back into their own half.
    DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
    89. The small section of United fans in Pride Park have made themselves heard throughout the game and are the louder of the two sets of supporters as the game comes to a close.
Lingard gets on the ball again and runs towards goal, but is well-tackled in front of goal and it goes out for a goalkick, to Lingard’s frustration.
    DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
    87. United are passing it around at the back and the sting has been taken out of the game in the last few minutes.
The urgency and intensity has slowed massively and United are treating the last couple of minutes as an exercise in ball retention.
    DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
    85. Hannibal is dispossesed in midfield after a poor touch and commits a foul in his attempt to win it back.
Derby have a free-kick in the United half but are unable to capitalise and Lee Grant collects the ball comfortably.
    DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
    84. Jesse Lingard is absolutely everywhere and is demanding the ball from his teammates, who happily oblige.
Derby are defending deep now and United are passing the ball around well, patient in their build up.
    DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
    82. SUBSTITUTION
    Derby Sub:
Osazee Aghatise comes on for Max Bird with just under ten minutes on the clock.
Time running out for Derby to find an equaliser and United look to extend their lead.
    DERBY 1-2 MAN UTD
    81. Shoretire looks to have been fouled on the edge of the Derby box after some good United attacking play but the ref doesn’t give it and Derby break.
