Cristiano Ronaldo to Tottenham with Franck Kessie and Adama Traore in talks, Camavinga £26m PSG transfer ‘imminent’

CRISTIANO RONALDO has “demanded” a blockbuster transfer away from Juventus, according to reports. And one of the clubs surprisingly rumoured to be interested is Tottenham.
Spurs are also said to be in talks to sign Franck Kessie of AC Milan and Adama Traore of Wolves.
And Man Utd and Arsenal target Eduardo Camavinga is set to join PSG this week, according to reports from France and Spain.

Follow ALL of the latest news and updates below…
    GUNNERS HAVE ‘LOST THEIR DNA’
Former France and Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna claims the Gunners have “lost their DNA” after spending £150million this summer only on players for the FUTURE.

    BRAND NEW LOAN
Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams has joined Premier League new boys Norwich on loan for the season.
SunSport exclusively revealed in May the Canaries were keen on the England Under-21 star.
    Credit: PA
Old Trafford chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been reluctant to let the 20-year-old leave even temporarily over the past year.
But now he is letting Williams depart for regular top-flight game-time.
Williams said: “It’s a massive club and I like the way they play.
“I’ve watched them over the years and seen how they play.
“The club like to play out from the back and play football. That really inspired me to come here, and I think that the head coach can really improve me as a player.
“Everyone has been so welcoming. I’ve really enjoyed my time here already and I can’t wait to meet everybody. I’ve just got a feeling it’ll be a good year.”
    NO MADD BID
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers says Arsenal never made an enquiry or his bid for his England playmaker James Maddison this summer.
It was suggested only last week that the Gunners had ‘pulled the plug’ on a deal for Maddison after having their latest offer knocked back.
Arsenal apparently grew tired of having ‘multiple bids for the playmaker’ rejected and decided to wrap up a move for Martin Odegaard instead.
Rodgers said: “There have been things this year around James, it was all paper talk, gossip, because there was never an enquiry, never a bid.”
    ALLEGRI: I DROPPED RONALDO
Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri insists he DROPPED Cristiano Ronaldo for yesterday’s 2-2 Serie A draw with Udinese – amid suggestions the legend asked to be left out following transfer talk.
Allegri told DAZN: “Ronaldo is feeling well. I had talked to him before the game, telling him he would start on the bench.
“He made himself available, he did well when he entered the pitch, he also scored a goal, but it was disallowed.”

Ronaldo was introduced by Allegri on the hour – and in the 95th minute he ripped his shirt off to celebrate after heading what he thought was a winner.
But VAR ruled out the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar’s goal for offside.
Ronaldo, 36, has just one year remaining on his £25million-a-year contract and in recent weeks has been linked with a move.
WHO UTD, CITY AND CHELSEA COULD MEET
ENGLISH clubs will find out their Champions League Group Stage opponents when the draw is made in Istanbul on Thursday.
Chelsea will be eager to see who they’ll begin their defence against, while Manchester United, City and Liverpool are set to be in the mix once again.

The four Premier League clubs are bound to be among the favourites.
But there will be tough tests along the way.
Chelsea find themselves in Pot 1 as reigning champions, alongside Prem winners Manchester City.
While Man United and Liverpool will be drawn from Pot 2.
The Blues and Man City may feel like they have an advantage, but Pots 1 and 2 are both full to the brim with dangerous opposition.
Thomas Tuchel’s side, as well as Pep Guardiola’s, could even draw the German’s former side Paris Saint-Germain from Pot 2.

GUNNERS WILL ‘LISTEN TO OFFERS FOR 10 PLAYERS’
Arsenal are reportedly now open to offers for TEN PLAYERS this month, including captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Gunners’ skipper Aubameyang only signed a new contract with the North London outfit in September 2020.
    Credit: Getty
But according to The Telegraph, the Gabon international – who tested positive for coronavirus before the opening game of the season and has not featured so far as a result – is now considered to be one of TEN players Arsenal are interested in receiving bids for.
The rest of the potential departures are Bernd Leno, Hector Bellerin, Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira, Willian, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette.
However, unlike some of the fringe players looking to be sold over the next week or so, Aubameyang’s extortionate wages could prevent him from securing a move.
The 32-year-old earns around £250,000 a week, so there are only a select number of clubs who would be able to take him on.
It was reported last week that Barcelona were eyeing a swap deal for Aubameyang, with ex-Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho heading the other way.
Arsenal are hoping to recoup some of the money they have invested this summer, with Arteta’s side currently top of the Premier League’s spending charts.
SPURS ‘MUST PAY £40m to GET NONI BACK’
PSV Eindhoven have told Tottenham it will cost them £40million to re-sign Noni Madueke – two years after the England Under-21 international left them for nothing.
Madueke, 19, is wanted back at his former club after a lethal start to the season, according to the Mirror.
The attacking midfielder scored twice in a 4-0 romp against Ajax in the Johan Cruyff Shield in Amsterdam and has been on target three more times in six Eredivisie and Champions League games.
Ten clubs have made contact with PSV about Madueke’s availability – including Spurs, Leicester and Wolves.
And they have all been told that the bidding will have to start at £40million.
    CRISTIANO ONLY RON THE BENCH
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Juventus was again thrust into doubt as he was left on the bench for Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Udinese.
Speculation has continued to surround Ronaldo this summer and he has been linked with old club Manchester United, Manchester City and PSG.
Reports suggest that Ronaldo had requested to be benched for the game and he has apparently now asked his club to sanction a move away from Turin.
The news will have clubs licking their lips at the prospect of landing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has less than a year remaining on his current contract.
    GRANIT DEAL SET IN STONE
Midfielder Granit Xhaka confirmed he’s signed a new Arsenal contract, reassuring fans he will ‘give everything’ he can to get the club back on the right track after two Prem straight defeats.
Xhaka had looked destined to join Serie A giants Roma earlier this summer but Jose Mourinho’s side were priced out of a move and the 28-year-old midfielder has decided to commit his future to the Gunners, signing a new long-term deal.
He told Arsenal’s media team: “‘I’m very happy I’m still here.
“I’ve signed a new contract of course and I want to give back, first of all to our staff, and then after to our fans, and they know I will give everything – in every game and every training session.
“So yeah, I think we have to show that as a team soon.”
    ‘DONE DEAL’
Xherdan Shaqiri is set to end a frustrating period at Anfield by joining Lyon on a permanent basis.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano told Sky Sports: “Yes, it’s a done deal. They have an agreement in principle with Olympic Lyon for Xherdan Shaqiri.
“He had an agreement on personal terms for two weeks with Lyon on a three-year contract. So Shaqiri wanted to leave, wanting to try something new. And that’s why now he’s joining Lyon.
“Liverpool will receive around £10million – everything has been completed in the last 24 hours. The player is now going to France to sign his contract to complete the medical.”

    FIVE STAR
Tottenham could be set for a late splurge before the summer transfer deadline with the club reportedly on the hunt for five new players.
Adama Traore is rumoured to be among the names on Nuno Espirito Santos’ target list with the former Wolves gaffer pondering a £40million swoop.
Meanwhile, Spurs, who play Watford next, are rumoured to be mulling over a swap deal to bring Weston McKennie to North London.
It is thought the North London side are interested in offering Tanguy Ndombele to Juve in exchange for the American.
Spurs are also thought to have their eye on PSV playmaker Noni Madueke, as well as Lyon star Houssem Aouar.
And reports in France claim Tottenham are in the running to buy Metz midfielder, Pape Matar Sarr.

    LUUK’S OUT
Cash-strapped Barcelona could sign former Newcastle man Luuk de Jong.
The 30-year-old is poised to leave Sevilla before the end of the transfer window, with reports suggesting a number of clubs are chasing his signature.
Spanish outlet Sport claim the striker has ‘been offered’ to the Catalan club, with West Ham and PSV also keen on a deal.
And he is now set to leave the club following the arrival of striker Rafa Mir from Wolves earlier this summer.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in a deal despite their dire financial situation, with current frontman Martin Braithwaite linked with a move away from Camp Nou.

    RON HIS WAY?
Cristiano Ronaldo could still end up at Tottenham this summer, according to Tutti Convocati.
Juventus boss Max Allegri is reportedly keen to sell the striker, and CR7’s omission from the starting line-up against Udinese could hint he is on his way out.
Ronaldo is also said to be keen on a move, having been linked with PSG and both Manchester clubs.

    LET’S GO LEO
Celtic centre-back Leo Hjelde is on the verge of a move to the Premier League.
He’s set to join Leeds United before the transfer window closes at the end of the month according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay.
At just 17 years old the Norwegian defender is one for the future for Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa.
The defender has never played a competitive game for Celtic but spent the second half of last season on loan at Ross County.
And former Staggies boss John Hughes labelled him “the next Virgil van Dijk” during his loan spell at the club.
He’s set to join up with Leeds United’s under-23’s squad after the clubs agreed a fee for the youngster.

    COUT HIM IN
Philippe Coutinho still has Liverpool ‘very deeply’ in his heart, his agent said.
It comes amid speculation his former club are interested in re-signing the Brazilian.
And Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian hinted the playmaker would not rule out returning to Liverpool, as he still values the club.
Joorabchian told Sky Sports: “I think Liverpool lies very, very deeply in his heart, he was a big fan of them throughout the [last] campaign.
“He was wishing for them to win the title and he has a very strong affinity there so I think it will be very difficult for him to go to a direct competitor of Liverpool from a personal standpoint.”

    SAINTS DEAL
Southampton are close to finalising a deal for Torino centre-back Lyanco as they tie up a replacement for Jannik Vestergaard.
Tuttosport report that Torino chief Davide Vagnati is ‘sending him to Southampton’.
The report states the Premier League side will pay around £6.4m plus bonuses for the centre back, and the deal could include a percentage on future sales as well.
The newspaper explains that Torino had initially wanted £6.8m for their man, but the player made it clear he wants to leave Serie A, so the club have elected to take the offer in front of them.

    MAD PRICE

    EAGLES SWOOP
Patrick Vieira is planning a late summer swoop for Eddie Nketiah in a bid to beef up Crystal Palace’s attacking ranks.
The Athletic claims the Eagles gaffer is set to rival an unnamed German side in for the services of the Gunners striker.
Nketiah, 22, who has been sidelined by an ankle injury, has ten months left on his current contract which expires in June 2022.
Reports claim the player, who captained England at the Euros Under 21 Championships, is yet to commit to a contract extension with the North London outfit.
Athletic reports the Emirates side, who face West Brom in a league cup clash before a daunting trip to Man City, are keen on agreeing to a new deal with the forward.

    NAT FOR SALE
Everton have had a transfer approach for defender Nathan Patterson rejected by Rangers.
The Blues want to strengthen in that position before the close of the transfer window and have moved for the 19-year-old.
It is unclear at this stage if Everton plan to return with a second bid for the Scottish defender.
Patterson would be seen as one for the future and Everton have been looking for Seamus Coleman’s long-term successor for a number of seasons.

    SHOW ME THE MONEY
West Ham have met Chelsea’s £26million asking price for defender Kurt Zouma but the defender is holding out for a ‘significant pay rise’, according to reports.
And Zouma, who is also being eyed by Tottenham, has been identified as one of West Ham’s primary targets as they look to add to the centre of their defence.
According to The Athletic, David Moyes’ side have now met Chelsea’s asking price for the 26-year-old, with the two London teams reaching a ‘verbal agreement’.
However, the Frenchman is said to be demanding an increase in wages from his current £125,000 a week pay packet.
This could present a problem for the Hammers as it would mean they have to make him their highest paid player.

    WILLIAMS TO NORWICH: UPDATE…
Brandon Williams completed a medical with Norwich over the weekend.
His season-long loan from Manchester United is expected to be completed today.
The left-back founds game time difficult to come by at Old Trafford last season and with Alex Telles to return from injury he would have found it tough to play this season due, with Luke Shaw also playing well.

    ON THE KESS
Tottenham are in talks to sign Franck Kessie on a free transfer, according to reports.
The AC Milan midfielder’s contract at the San Siro expires next summer.
And according to Alessandro Jacobone, Spurs wasted no time in approaching his representatives to try and secure a move when he becomes a free agent.
It is understood sporting director Fabio Paratici has already held a meeting with Kessie’s agent Ataganga.
The report adds a five-year contract was offered worth £6.9million per season – or £132,000 per week.
Jacobone adds Ataganga would also receive a significant commission, too.

    ATALAST
Chelsea outcast Davide Zappacosta is set to join Atalanta on a permanent deal, according to reports.
The Italian last played a competitive game for the Blues in May 2019, when he featured as a late substitute in that year’s Europa League final.
He has spent the last two years out on loan, with Roma and then Genoa.
Zappacosta, 29, re-emerged in Chelsea’s pre-season campaign this time around, even coming off the bench against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in the Mind Series.
But having not been selected for either of Thomas Tuchel’s matchday squads in the Premier League this term, he is set to depart on a permanent basis.
According to Sky Sports in Italy, Chelsea have agreed on a permanent deal with Atalanta.

    ED-DING OFF
PSG are closing in on a deal for Eduardo Camavinga, according to L’Equipe.
The midfielder will cost around £25million, and will join some very big-name signings in the French capital this sumer.
The 18-year-old has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Manchester United and Real Madrid.
But he looks set to stay in France following an impressive start to his career at Rennes.

    PLANNING AHEAD
Real Madrid sold Martin Odegaard to Arsenal to help fund a move for Paul Pogba, according to Spanish outlet ABC.
Los Blancos also view the Frenchman as a long-term replacement for Luka Modric, who is getting closer to retirement.
Agent Mino Raiola has consistently linked his client with a move to Real.
And with Pogba’s contract set to expire next summer it is possible Carlo Ancelotti’s side could make a swoop for the midfielder.

    THAT’S ALL FOR TONIGHT
Chelsea are looking like real title contenders and with Lukaku they could be an unstoppable force.
As for Arsenal, it’s back to the drawing board.
They face West Brom in the cup followed by a game at the defending Premier League champions Man City.
The table could be looking grim for Arsenal come September.
    Goodnight.
    TABLE CHECK
Chelsea go to the top of the Premier League table after today’s win.

    DROG’S THOUGHTS
    Didier Drogba enjoyed Chelsea’s performance!

    FIRING BLANKS
    Bukayo Saka – 6
Looked the most likely to create something for Arteta’s men but his final touch or pass often let him down.
Still looks like the most exciting player at the club, even if his teammates are not giving him much chance to show it. Tested Edouard Mendy with a venomous long range effort.
    Emile Smith Rowe – 6
The game passed him by in the early stages as he looked totally out of his depth up against Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho.
Was robbed in possession a couple of times but eventually grew into the contest with some lung-busting drives into the Chelsea box. Like the rest of the Gunners team though, he lacked an end product.
    Gabriel Martinelli – 5
Barely had a kick in the first half as the Gunners seemed to be desperately missing a focal point. Definitely flourishes more as a wide forward as opposed to the No9 position he tried to fill here.
    Nicolas Pepe – 4
Continues to drift through big games without affecting them in any meaningful way.
Arsenal would have hoped when Pepe arrived at the club for £72million that these were the sort of games he could star in. Instead, you’d have been forgiven for not realising he was on the pitch.
    BOYS AGAINST MEN
    Albert Sambi Lokonga – 6
Had a quiet game but his passing and positioning were more accomplished than the far more experienced Granit Xhaka alongside him.
A very difficult match for him to look good in, especially when Mason Mount was drifting all over the place in the second half. Booked for hauling down Lukaku.
    Granit Xhaka – 5
Always looked more than a yard behind the pace of the game, demonstrated in Chelsea’s second goal when he could not make up the ground to block off Lukaku’s dummy.
Was chasing shadows when the Blues had the ball. Then when Arsenal won it back Xhaka frequently struggled to carry his side away from danger.
    LEAKY AT THE BACK
    Bernd Leno – 6
Could not have done anything about the two goals as his defence were exposed time and time again. Made a superb save late on from a Lukaku header.
    Cedric Soares – 6
Offered more protection in defensive situations than Kieran Tierney did on the other side.
Failed to receive much help from Nicolas Pepe when it came to tracking back. Did his best to curtail Marcos Alonso and Kai Havertz even if he was not always successful.
    Rob Holding – 5
Both he and Pablo Mari were taught a lesson by Lukaku when it comes to the physicality of the Premier League.
It was a baptism of fire for Rob Holding given it’s his first game of the season.
But he was still sluggish, even if Mari did him no favours. He was frequently susceptible to being beaten in the air in the same way Ben White struggled against Brentford. Received a yellow card for his troubles.
    Pablo Mari – 3
Clearly not capable of handling someone of the calibre of Lukaku. Allowed the Chelsea striker to wander through and tap in from close range inside the first quarter of an hour.
Alongside a second central defensive partner in as many games following the omission of White, Mari failed to show any kind of chemistry with Holding. To cap things off, he was also booked. Had an absolute nightmare.
    Kieran Tierney – 5
Looked lively early on as Arsenal clearly targeted the right-hand side of Chelsea’s defence.
But was caught out for Chelsea’s opener as he got drawn inside and allowed Reece James acres of space to pick out Lukaku.
The visitors enjoyed tremendous joy down the left as the second goal also came from a similar position.
    UNSTOPPABLE
    Romelu Lukaku – 10
What a debut for the record-signing, Lukaku scored the opener after helping create it, and he was just far too hot and physical for the Arsenal defence to handle.
They had no clue how to deal with him and he was the absolute difference for Chelsea at the top end, helping them finish off all their good possession and chances.
    MIDFIELD MAESTROS
    Mateo Kovacic – 8
Really good all round performance as Chelsea’s ball carrier from deep, his contributions going forward setting up attacks was excellent, and his recovery play was also good. He played a beautiful pass through to James to cross for Lukaku’s first goal.
    Jorginho – 8
So so good under pressure, receiving the ball from deep and helping Chelsea play out, keep possession and, not only that, but controlling it throughout as well.
    Kai Havertz – 8
Looked really dangerous every time he got the ball, always looking for that decisive final pass or helping set up a goal. He was on fire just like Lukaku and Mount.
    Mason Mount – 9
Hungry, full of energy, and a real menace to the Arsenal defence linking up so well with his strike partners Lukaku and Havertz.
    BLUES CRUISE
    Edouard Mendy – 8
The goalkeeper had a quiet first-half but his distribution was very good. He was brilliant at mopping up anything that came through to him and made a few decent saves in the second-half.
    Reece James – 8
He first assisted Lukaku for the opening goal, then he scored the second of the game with a beautiful and composed finish in the box.
    Cesar Azpilicueta – 9
Excellent defensive performance from the captain and he was influential with Chelsea in possession going forward as well. He was absolutely colossal at the back.
    Andreas Christensen – 9
Calm once again at the heart of the Chelsea defence and didn’t give anything away, some intelligent defending and controlling of the backline.
    Antonio Rudiger – 8
The German was well up for this game as always and his pace was very useful against Nicolas Pepe, largely containing any real threats they had. He was also in a couple of small scuffles winding up the Arsenal players which was great.
    Marcos Alonso – 8
He was fantastic for Chelsea as he continues to prove his worth for the club and keep Ben Chilwell out of the starting line-up, but he once again showed why with a great all round wing-back performance.
    FT STATS: ARSENAL 0-2 CHELSEA
Chelsea will be favourites for the Premier League title, surely?

    FT: ARSENAL 0-2 CHELSEA
Not much happened in the second half apart from Leno’s class save to deny Lukaku a second.
Romelu’s return is the story of the day.

THE REFEREE PUTS ARSENAL OUT OF THEIR MISERY!
    CHELSEA WIN THE LONDON DERBY!

    THAT’S ALL FOR NOW!
The spoils are shared at St Mary’s as Manchester United come from behind to earn a point against Southampton.
A draw was probably a fair result but Saints will be the happier of the sides to have avoided defeat.
The one positive for United was another strong performance from Paul Pogba who teed up Mason Greenwood for the equaliser.
The Reds also equalled Arsenal’s Premier League record of 27 away games unbeaten. They’ll be looking to beat that when they head to Wolves next weekend.
    Until next time!
27 – Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 27 away Premier League matches (W17 D10), equalling the longest away unbeaten in English top-flight history, set by Arsenal between April 2003 and September 2004. Adventures. pic.twitter.com/kC6TN7hiQa— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) August 22, 2021

    VALENTINO’S VERDICT
Southampton new boy Valentino Livramento enjoyed his home debut in front of a full St Mary’s.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s a pleasure to play in front of these fans for the first time.
“When you first come out and they’re chanting your name it’s a special feeling. I’m happy I can show on the biggest stage.
“We knew it was going to be a battle. Man Utd are a massive club and have quality all over the pitch.
“We knew the way we could compete was by being physical and aggressive with the press and hitting them on the counter.
“I feel we could have won the game, maybe could have lost the game, but a draw is a fair result.”

    OGS REACTION
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer felt Southampton’s opener should have been ruled out for a foul by Jack Stephens on Bruno Fernandes in the build-up.
“It was a foul 100 per cent,” Solskjaer told MUTV. “But we should have done better to make sure refereeing mistakes don’t cost us.
“We gifted them a couple of chances and could have lost.
“It’s a point from a losing position but we want two more points in every single game.
“It’s still very early on. We’ll be better off next week.”

    FT: SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
United equal Arsenal’s 27-match unbeaten away record in the Premier League but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be disappointed with his side’s overall display.
The Reds started brightly, hitting the bar and seeing an effort cleared off the line, but Southampton took the lead when Che Adams’ effort took a wicked deflection off Fred to beat David de Gea.
The visitors took just eight minutes after the restart to level when Paul Pogba teed up Mason Greenwood but that didn’t give United the lift-off expected.
Indeed, it was Saints who could have won it when Armstrong was denied by De Gea with just the keeper to beat.
A good first point of the season for Saints who travel to Newcastle next Saturday. United are away to Wolves.

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!THE FINAL WHISTLE GOES!
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
90+3. There’s a booking for Stephens now. Think it was something he said to the referee.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    90. There will be five minutes of additional time. Will there be a late twist? Pogba is booked for catching Adams.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    87. Not the most convincing punch by De Gea as he looks to deal with a inswinging Ward-Prowse corner. He does get it to safety, though.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    86. United make another substitution. Jesse Lingard is on for his 150th Premier League appearance as he replaces Matic.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    85. McTominay whips in a cross from the right that fizzes across goal but no United player is in the box.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    80. Third change for Saints. Walker-Peters is on for Perraud.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    79. It’s straight at De Gea who elects to fist it to safety when a routine catch might have been the easier option.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    76. McTominay is on for United, replacing Fred. Maguire is booked for wrestling Adams to the floor. Ward-Prowse will fancy this free-kick 30 yards from goal.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    75. Ward-Prowse’s corner is flicked on at the near post by Adams. Armstrong arrives at the far stick but tries to nod it back across goal instead of going for glory and United manage to scramble it away.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    74. What a chance for Armstrong. Maguire is caught in possession by Ward-Prowse. Adams then finds the unmarked Armstrong but his shot is turned behind by De Gea.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    70. Djenepo is now being substituted for Diallo as Saints make their first change. They’ll need him to stiffen up the midfield where United have a stranglehold.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    68. It’s all United right now. Fernandes wins a free-kick on the right after a foul by Djenepo who’s already been booked.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    65. United knock on the door again. Wan-Bissaka’s cross is met by Fernandes but his header is parried by McCarthy.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    64. Great chance for Greenwood who heads Fred’s clipped cross a few yards over. Good work by Shaw and Fernandes in the build-up.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    60. There’s a problem here for Adams who needs some attention. Meanwhile, Southampton have issued an apology and confirmed they will give a full refund to general admission tickets after a large number of supporters missed kick-off due to congestion getting into St Mary’s.

    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    59. Pogba has come to life now. He twists and turns on the edge of the box and sees his left-footed shot flash inches wide.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    58. Here comes the change. Martial jogs off to be replaced by Sancho. Not a bad option to be able to bring on. Greenwood will now go central.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    56. Just as United are getting the upper hand, Jadon Sancho is about to be unleashed from the bench.
    SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
    53. Pogba plays a one-two with Fernandes and then tees up Greenwood who fires home from eight yards to claim his second goal of the season. That was all about Pogba.

    GGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOALLLLLLLLLL MANCHESTER UNITED!

    LONDON CALLING
That’s all we’ve got time for at Molineux.
We’ll be back on Thursday night to see if the Spurs youngsters can overhaul a one-goal deficit against Pacos de Ferreira in the Conference League.
Now, we’re heading off to Spurs’ North London rivals Arsenal to see how they can get on against Chelsea and Romelu Lukaku.

    KANE-D
So here’s how Harry Kane’s afternoon went.
He will be delighted with the reception from the Spurs fans though.
The Wolves fans sing: “Harry Kane, he wants to f*** off”. Spurs supporters reply that he’s one of their own. Once he’s on, Wolves fans chant “There’s only one greedy b*****d” and “He’ll be a Manc in the morning”. The Spurs fans retort: “Harry Kane, he’s worth more than Wolves.”— Alasdair Gold (@AlasdairGold) August 22, 2021

    FORWARD THINKING
Nuno Espirito Santo has had his say on a potential injury for Son Heung-min and opened the door to Harry Kane staying at the club.
The Spurs boss said of Son: “I am sorry I cannot answer. In the warm up he had a strange feeling and he was OK to play. Let’s assess him now.”
And of the England captain, he commented: “He can still improve, we are not putting a bar on it. He is getting better.”

    DOUBLED DUTCH-ED
Here’s the moment Steven Bergwijn took two Wolves players out of the game before setting up Harry Kane.
A really good effort from the Dutchman today.

    HAR RAISING
If it was a final appearance for Harry Kane, he will be pleased it has ended with a win.
The England captain was given rapturous applause from the Spurs fans at the end of the match.
    Could he yet stay?

    HEUNG IN THERE
Tottenham have the win but fans may have been concerned by quite a rare sight – Son Heung-min being replaced by Harry Kane.
The Korean was moving awkwardly as he was taken off and would be a huge loss if he were to face a spell on the sidelines.
It will be interesting to hear what Nuno says.
It wasn’t pretty, although they could have won by more in the end, but Spurs hold on to make it back to back wins in the Premier League under Nuno Espirito Santo. Son walking gingerly at the final whistle as he comes on to the pitch though will be a concern.— Alasdair Gold (@AlasdairGold) August 22, 2021

    EXPECTED GOALS
The expected goals from Molineux show Wolves should have been able to earn a draw.
They will no doubt look at Adama Traore’s one-on-one which was saved by Hugo Lloris as the moment they should have taken something from the game.
    Wolves (1.50) 0-1 (1.53) Tottenham— The xG Philosophy (@xGPhilosophy) August 22, 2021

    MATCH STATS
Wolves had an incredible 25 shots at Molineux today but it’s Spurs who come away with the points.
Bruno Lage’s men drop to 17th in the table after a second successive 1-0 loss and know they need to improve their final ball and finishing.
Tottenham move up to third, where they will stay if Chelsea fail to beat Arsenal.

    BACKS TO THE WALL
It’s a Tottenham victory that Nuno’s predecessor Jose Mourinho would be proud of.
An early penalty from Dele Alli proved decisive as Spurs dug in and clung on for the rest of the match.
Nuno will be disappointed to have seen his midfield so frequently overrun by Wolves but delighted with the way his defence hung in there and restricted the home side to very few clear cut chances.
Wolves look good enough to stay up but nothing more unless they can get things clicking in the final third.

FULL TIME: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
    89: TOTTENHAM SUBSTITUTION
Steven Bergwijn is replaced by Harry Winks.
Just three minutes of stoppage time are added on, to boos from the home crowd.
    87: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
Adama Traore beats two men again and finally aims a cross exactly where he wants it, at Raul Jimenez’s feet.
However the Mexican steps on the ball and can only fire into a defender.
    84: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
Eric Dier with a fantastic chance to make the points safe.
The England international latches onto a corner to aim a close range header towards goal but Jose Sa keeps it out.
    82: WOLVES SUBSTITUTIONS
Roman Saiss is replaced by Fabio Silva.
Francisco Trincao is replaced by Rayan Ait-Nouri.
    80: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
A first chance for Harry Kane.
Brilliant work from Steven Bergwijn who produces an excellent shimmy to take two Wolves defenders out of the game.
The Dutchman then plays the England captain through but Jose Sa comes out quickly to save.
If he had scored, VAR may well have ruled it offside.
    78: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
Dele Alli is tackled cleanly and tries to buy a foul but the referee rightly waves play on.
Marcal then fires just wide from range.
    75: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
Another chance for Wolves as Dendoncker heads just wide.
Adama Traore still having a free reign down the left hand side but he can never quite get his radar right with the crosses.
    HARRY UP
The moment Spurs fans wouldn’t have expected to see again.
Harry Kane takes to the field in a Tottenham shirt.

    72: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
Harry Kane replaces Son Heung-min while Leandro Dendoncker comes on for Joao Moutinho for Wolves.
🚨HARRY KANE IS ON FOR SPURS!
    69: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
It looks like we’re about to see Harry Kane…
The England captain is off the bench and warming up.
A very positive reception from the visiting Spurs fans as they belt out ‘Harry Kane, he’s one of our own!’
    67: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
    Another chance for the hosts.
Traore causes havoc down the left and almost lulls Giovani Lo Celso into giving away a penalty.
He overcooks the cross but finds Trincao, who squares for Moutinho to blast just over from the edge of the box.
    66: TOTTENHAM SUBSTITUTION
It’s a South American for a South American.
Lucas Moura is replaced by Giovani Lo Celso
    64: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
Lloris finds Bergwijn on the left, who fires a powerful shot towards Sa’s left-hand corner, which is saved by the Portuguese goalkeeper.
Son pops up for the rebound but the former Olympiacos stopper is equal to that as well.
    63: WOLVES 0 SPURS 1
Harry Kane looking on from the bench.
At what point does Nuno consider bringing the England captain on to relieve the pressure.

    U-GOT IT
Manny Pacquiao threw double the amount of punches than opponent Yordenis Ugas – but the Cuban landed with more accuracy, writes JACK FIGG.
Pacquiao was beaten in his first fight for over two years as he returned to the ring – but it was not for a lack of trying.
According to CompuBox, the Filipino boxing icon threw 815 punches, compared to Ugas’ 405.
It meant he was twice as active, but was 21 per cent less accurate.
Ugas landed with 37 per cent of his punches, totalling 151 over 12 rounds, while Pacquiao finished with only 130, equalling 16 per cent.
Most importantly for the champion was his jab, which helped establish dominance in the battle between southpaw and orthodox.
Ugas landed 50 of the 234 he threw, with an accuracy rate of 21 per cent.
For Pacquiao, he found home with 42 of the 475 thrown, meaning he connected with just nine per cent of his lead southpaw jabs.

    PAC IT IN
Manny Pacquiao admits he ‘may not’ return to the ring following his loss to Yordenis Ugas, writes CHISANGA MALATA.
The Filipino legend, 42, suffered a unanimous decision defeat to the WBA welterweight champion in front of a packed crowd at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
Father Time looked to have finally caught up with the 42-year-old, who is now thinking about life after boxing.
In his post-fight press conference, he said: “In the future, you may not see Manny Pacquiao fight again in the ring.
“I don’t know. But for how many decades, I’m so happy with what I’ve done in boxing.
