    Team news
Pep Guardiola is likely to rest a host of players for the trip to Germany with City guaranteed to qualify in top spot in group A.
Ferran Torres has a foot problem and Liam Delap is out with an ankle problem.
The picture is far more bleak for the home side, with RB Leipzig forced to work without Amadou Haidara, Marcel Halstenberg, Ilaix Moriba, Yussuf Poulsen, Dani Olmo, Marcelo Sarrachi and Willi Orban.
Leipzig are in a difficult run of form, after losing to Bayer Leverkusen, then Union Berlin.
It resulted in manager Jesse Marsch mutually agreeing to step aside as manager before this Champions League tie.

Bergwijn and Rodon could LEAVE Spurs, Tottenham Covid outbreak LATEST, Newcastle eye Campbell, Chelsea transfers news

TOTTENHAM stars Steven Bergwijn and Joe Rodon could both be set to leave the club this January, according to reports. The pair have failed to impress under new boss Antonio Conte, with the Italian looking to strengthen in the transfer window.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have been hit with a covid outbreak that has reportedly brought down a ‘number of players and staff’.
Their matches this week against Rennes and Brighton could be in peril as a result of up to SEVEN positive tests.
And Eddie Howe is eyeing up Stoke striker Tyrese Campbell as his first signing at Newcastle.
The son of former Everton forward Kevin Campbell, Tyrese has scored twice in nine games for the Potters this season.

    MAT’S A PROBLEM
Premier League games are at real risk of being called off after Mateo Kovacic became the latest player to test positive for coronavirus.
It sparks fears of an outbreak at Chelsea akin to Tottenham’s current crisis.
Spurs are reportedly considering asking to postpone Sunday’s game against Brighton after at least SEVEN players and two members of staff returned positive tests.
In the latest figures, the Premier League reported their were 12 positive tests last week – the highest since the week of August 16-22, when there were 16.
And with another club seemingly struck by a potential outbreak, Prem officials may be forced to consider postponing games at the very least.
    BLUE WITH COLD
Chelsea will be forced to battle icy -15C temperatures as they take on Zenit St Petersburg on Wednesday evening.
Worse yet, the HIGHEST temperature on Wednesday is a bracing -12C.
However, when they step into the stadium, they’ll be able to shed their winter layers.
That’s because the £700million Krestovsky Arena – also known as the Gazprom Stadium – will close its roof and control the temperature at a comfortable 20C.

    CLOSING IN
Spurs are confident they can secure a contract extension for Hugo Lloris, according to reports.
Lloris, 34, is Spurs’ record appearance holder in the Premier League but his current deal expires at the end of the season.
Last summer he confirmed there had been no talks over a new contract amid the loan signing of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
But Lloris has been in talks with the club over an extension over the last couple of months according to The Athletic, and those discussions are set to intensify.
It is believed the Frenchman could put pen to paper on a new one year deal.
That would extend his stay in North London beyond the ten year mark, with the keeper set for a testimonial next summer.
Lloris has been linked with a transfer and would be allowed to speak to foreign clubs from January 1.
And the keeper has reportedly considered his future at Spurs after becoming dispirited at the fact only he and Harry Kane offer any leadership in the squad.

    HE’S A KEEPER
Dean Henderson is being eyed by Ajax, who want to sign him on loan in January.
According to the Manchester Evening News, talks between the Dutch champions and United were held while former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was still in charge.
Reports from the Netherlands confirm the Eredivisie giants’ interest and claim they also enquired about Henderson 18 months ago when his loan spell at Sheffield United came to an end.
The goalkeeper has been limited to just one appearance across all competitions so far this term after contracting COVID-19 during pre-season.
The 24-year-old is expected to start for the Red Devils on Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Young Boys at Old Trafford but wants more regular playing time.
That is why the England international is open to going out on loan for six or even 18 months.
It appears like he wouldn’t be against a permanent move either but new interim manager Ralf Rangnick appears unsure about letting him go.
Henderson is keen to impress Rangnick, who hasn’t decided what to do with him in January but will be showing intent if he starts him against Young Boys.

    ED-ING OFF
Edison Cavani is moving closer towards a transfer to Barcelona in the January window, according to reports.
The 34-year-old Manchester United striker has started just two Premier League games so far this season.
And while he has suffered a couple of fitness problems, it looks now as if he is going to be third in line behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford.
New Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick started life as United manager by partnering Rashford and Ronaldo up front together in their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Cavani’s contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer after he signed a one-year extension at the end of last season.
And, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona see Cavani as an option as they look to bring in a recognised, proven striker that they can describe as a ‘killer’.
Sergio Aguero is considering retiring from football due to a heart problem, while new manager Xavi reportedly does not like the look of Luke de Jong.
And Memphis Depay is not considered an out and out No9, so the Catalan giants are searching for someone of the calibre of Cavani.

    ‘THAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE’
Gary Neville has explained how Ralf Rangnick’s new ‘box midfield’ is designed to stop Manchester United conceding.
The Red Devils beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Sunday in the German’s first game in charge and Neville has heaped praise on his old club’s new disciplined look.
Speaking on Sky on Monday night, Nev said: “We’ll start with the classic box at the back, McTominay, Fred and the two centre-backs.
    “No problem.
“It’s very difficult to counter-attack against that if you’ve got those four players compact together.
“The problem was with Man Utd and the reason I respected the 60 minutes yesterday was that after not scoring for 30 minutes, it’s easy for one of those midfield players to get drawn forward.
“It’s easy for one of them payers to come out of position and leave the centre-backs exposed.
“And that’s what happened against Aston Villa.
“Having to run back at Old Trafford… it feels like a massive pitch. Jamie will tell you that from when he played there.
“You have to sustain attacks in football and you’ve got to stop teams counter-attacking on you or it eats away at your confidence.
“And that was the difference yesterday.
“You had the box, so when Man Utd gave the ball away in the attacking third, they’d committed players forward.
“But as the ball got given away by Fred, those four players are there straight away to be able to sort out Crystal Palace.”
    BRAND NEW
Everton manager Rafa Benitez suggested he now has more power over the club’s transfer activity after Marcel Brands’ departure.
Brands left his role as the Toffees’ director of football with immediate effect after a number of big-money transfer failures led to a major backlash.
Benitez told Sky Sports: “It means we have to prepare now for the future.
“It is short-term and January. Then we have to think long term. The club has changed managers in the past and now they want to do something long term with a clear idea of what we want to achieve.
“With my experience and the people we have in the club I think we can guide things in the direction that will hopefully be the right one.”

    HIT IN THE POCKET
Jude Bellingham has avoided suspension but been hit with a £34,000 fine for accusing a referee of match fixing.
The 18-year-old was left incensed when ref Felix Zwayer pointed to the spot at 2-2 with 13 minutes remaining against Bayern Munich on Saturday after the ball struck Mats Hummels’ arm.
Robert Lewandowski converted the dubious penalty to condemn Bellingham’s Dortmund to defeat.
And after the final whistle, the former Birmingham ace blasted: “For me it wasn’t a penalty.
“Hummels is not even looking at the ball and he’s fighting to get it.
“It hits him, I don’t think he’s looking at the ball. You can look at a lot of the other decisions in the game.
“You give a referee that has, you know, match fixed before, the biggest game in Germany… What do you expect?”
German police confirmed they were investigating his remarks as the DFB control committee wrote to the England international asking him to comment on his statements ‘as soon as possible’ and have now announced their punishment.
    PIER PRESSURE
Piers Morgan has yet again hit out at Mikel Arteta as he branded him as not ‘good enough’ following the 2-1 defeat against Everton.
The Gunners fell to an injury time strike from Demarai Gray at Goodison Park to condemn the North Londoners to a third Premier League defeat from their last four games.
Arteta’s side took the lead in their last two matches against Manchester United and the Toffees, only for the team to fall apart in the second half.
And TV presenter Morgan, who has insisted that anything lower than fourth place this season is a ‘failure’, has slammed Arteta following Arsenal’s dip in form.
Morgan was also heavily critical of the Spanish gaffer last month after Arsenal were smashed by Liverpool at Anfield.
The 56-year-old took to social media on Monday night, where he tweeted: “This is why I don’t think Arteta is good enough to be Arsenal manager.
“We’ve been completely outplayed by a side that hasn’t won for eight matches. Dreadful.”

    TAKING THE NIC
Nicolas Pepe’s future at Arsenal is looking increasingly uncertain after the latest snub by boss Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners £72 million record signing was an unused sub for the 2-1 defeat at Everton on Monday night.
Most fans expected him to step in when Gabriel Martinelli went down with a hamstring problem with 19 minutes remaining.
But instead Arteta turned to youngster Eddie Nketiah – who looks certain to leave the Emirates in the summer after turning down a new contract.
The decision could have paid off as the sub wasted a golden chance to restore Arsenal’s lead – heading a point blank header against the post.
But it leaves questions over where Ivory Coast star Pepe is in the pecking order – as he has not featured at all since October 30.
Arteta was asked about the decision and said: “I decided to play Eddie today, to bring him on. He created three chances and hit the post in the space of 25 minutes I think.”
“He does everything in training what you saw him do in 25 minutes here. Every single day. That’s why I picked him.”
The decision will only intensify rumours there is a problem between the manager and Pepe – who has started only five Prem matches this season.
Club captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang also stayed on the bench until the 85th minute with Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville suggesting there could be trouble ahead there too.

    ULTI-MANE-UM
Barcelona have issued an ultimatum to Ousmane Dembele until December 31 to decide on his future, reports suggest.
Dembele’s contract with Barca expires in June and the club needs to know whether he will commit to a new deal by New Year’s Eve.
According to Sport, negotiations between the Blaugrana and the winger have hit a snag over the player’s financial demands, while other clubs are keeping tabs on him.
The France international’s agent has already met with Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Juventus to discuss their offer, while Liverpool also appear to be interested.
The 24-year-old claims he wants to stay put at Barcelona but his representative hint this will only happen for the right price.
Dembele has struggled to stand out at the Nou Camp ever since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 due to a raft of injuries.
The Frenchman has also been rather inconsistent with only 30 goals and 21 assists in 122 appearances across all competitions to his name.
However, the Catalan giants would find it much easier and cheaper to renew the forward’s contract rather than finding a replacement amid their ongoing financial woes.

    DAL IT IN
Diogo Dalot returned to Man United’s starting line-up on Thursday’s match against Arsenal, during Michael Carrick’s last game as caretaker manager, and is now offering fresh competition for Wan-Bissaka.
The Portuguese defender is putting together quite a comeback as he was frozen out by former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and spent last season on loan at AC Milan.
Dalot recently said: “It’s what I’m here for.
“It’s not easy when you’re outside [the starting line-up] and you don’t play as much.
“But our job [is] to keep [being] ready and I think I was doing a fantastic job outside the pitch being ready.
“When the opportunity comes, I now feel I need to keep going and give everything when I’m on the pitch too.”

    ‘IT’S UP TO THEM’
Jurgen Klopp reckons it would be impossible to sort out Mo Salah’s contract over a quick cuppa.
The Liverpool boss has warned the club’s fans to be patient over the future of Salah, whose deal runs out in 2023.
Klopp said: “We’re talking, and extending a contract with a player like Mo is not something where you meet for a cup of tea in the afternoon and find an agreement.
“There’s really nothing else to say about Mo at the moment.
“He speaks about it and I can only say a few things because all the rest is not for the public, obviously. That’s completely normal.”

    JANUARY SALES
Steven Bergwijn and Joe Rodon could reportedly be on their way out of Tottenhan in the January transfer window.
The pair are currently peripheral figures at Spurs with neither player starting in the Premier League since Antonio Conte’s arrival in North London.
Dutch winger Bergwijn has been limited to just 13 minutes in the top-flight under Conte spread across two games.
Meanwhile Rodon hasn’t featured in the Premier League since the 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in September.
Rodon’s only appearance under Conte came in the humiliating 2-1 defeat against Slovenia outfit NS Mura in the Europa Conference League.
The result led Conte to hit out at his squad as he conceded that ‘the level at Tottenham is not so high’.
And according to The Times, Bergwijn and Rodon face an uncertain future with the duo to both potentially leave in the New Year.

    NOU CHAPTER
Cesar Azpilicueta is reportedly in advanced talks with Barcelona over a move at the end of the season.
The Spaniard arrived at Chelsea from Marseille back in 2012 and has helped them to win numerous honours since.
The defender, 32, will be a free agent in June when his Blues deal expires and that allows clubs outside of the UK to sign a pre-contract agreement with him from next month.
El Nacional claims that he is already in advanced discussions with the Catalan outfit.
The paper states that new Barcelona boss Xavi is personally pushing for the transfer to happen, with club president Joan Laporta agreeing.
However, a move for the Chelsea captain would spell bad news for Dani Alves.
The Brazilian has just returned to the Nou Camp but cannot play for them until January.
But Azpilicueta’s free transfer arrival would mean that there would be no contract renewal for Alves, writes the publication.

    FIRST DYBS
Liverpool want to sign Juventus forward Paulo Dybala on a free transfer in January if he does not agree a new deal with the Italian giants, according to reports.
The 28-year-old Argentine will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club next month as his Juventus deal expires in the summer.
And, according to Calcio Mercato, Liverpool are keen to tie him down before the end of the season if he becomes available.
However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Dybala has already agreed to extend his contract with the Serie A side until 2026.
When asked previously about his contract situation, Dybala told DAZN: “Right now the club has other things to resolve so for now we can wait on this.
“What’s happening now is more important than my contract.”

    SZAL-EBRATION
Chelsea are on the brink of signing Fenerbahce centre-back Attila Szalai, with Hungary manager Marco Rossi calling it a ‘done deal’.
The Blues are currently set to lose Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta in the summer.
All four defenders see their contracts expire at the end of the season, with speculation mounting as to whether they will pen extensions.
Thomas Tuchel is taking no chances, reportedly already signing 23-year-old, left-sided centre-back Szalai.
When asked if any of his players looked set for a big-money move in 2022, Hungary boss Szalai told Calciomercato: “It’s hard to name just one player.
“But right now I see very well Attila Szalai, who plays for Fenerbahce… I think he is joining Chelsea.
“Clearly, he has been followed by important clubs in Spain, but apparently his move to Chelsea is a done deal.
“He would be a great player also for Italian football.”

    TAKING THE MIC
Despite the widespread criticism of the former Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gary Neville also took aim at Mikel Arteta.
Speaking as a pundit on Monday Night Football, he added: “He’s flip-flopping between doing a good job and being under pressure, there’s no in-between.
“When you look at average age of the squad: if you’re going to Old Trafford or Goodison Park some players won’t have experienced it many times and it’s tough.
“I remember my first few games at Anfield or Highbury, you need really good experienced players to get you through those difficult moments.
“You need comfort in there and that spine to be really strong and Arsenal’s senior players are not really massive characters or massive leaders.
    ‘CAUSING A PROBLEM’
Mikel Arteta would SELL Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if he could.
That is according to Manchester United icon Gary Neville who reckons the pair’s relationship could turn sour.
He told Sky: “I think there’ll be a problem with Aubameyang after this.
“I don’t think he’ll like the idea of Nketiah coming on or being subbed full stop.
“There’s always a little bit of a bug between Arteta and Aubameyang.
“I know he’s the captain but he leaves him out and it feels like something a bit awkward.
“It’s going to cause a problem and I bet if he could get a bit of money for him and get someone else they would.
“And I bet if Aubameyang could he would move on as as well because it could turn a little sour.”

    KULUSEVSKI REMINDER
Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly locked in a transfer battle over Juventus ace Dejan Kulusevski.
And neither side have taken the advantage over the other in signing Kulusevski
According to Calciomercato, both Gunners and Spurs have ‘opened preliminary talks’ with the 21-year-old’s agents.
And both clubs are said to be keen on a loan deal with the option to buy the forward.
Juve though would prefer to sanction an immediate permanent deal, and are willing to listen to offers in the region of £25million for the Sweden international
    FER REAL?
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes revealed that new interim boss Ralf Rangnick wants “more pressure” and “more aggressiveness” from his players.
Fernandes told Premier League Productions: “It depends on the game.
“Sometimes you have to press a little bit more, sometimes you have to press less and everyone knows that it’s one of the things that the manager wants from us. More pressure, to be more aggressive. We tried to do it [today].
“I think the first 25 minutes from us was unbelievable, great tempo and we don’t give any space to them.
“We recovered a lot of balls high up the pitch. We could have scored many times in the first half I think, at least three times we could do a little more.
“But we got the three points and that’s the most important thing”

Former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson insisted Mo Salah deserved a higher finish than his seventh place in this year’s Ballon d’Or.
He told Bettingodds: “It’s been a hot topic for the past week or so.
“The award is obviously an individual award so for me I believe he should have been right up there.
“I’ve had a chat with a couple of ex-players who believe he should have won it and they only believed others were higher on the list because they were recipients of major trophies, which is something I don’t agree with because it’s an individual thing.
“If your club hasn’t won trophies in the same year then that shouldn’t matter as it’s an individual thing and it doesn’t affect your individual performance.
“I understand why Lionel Messi won it because he finally won a major tournament with Argentina but I just can’t believe that there were six better players in the world than Mohamed Salah in 2021.
“For me, he should have certainly been in the top three or even the top two.”

    TY UP A DEAL
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is lining up Stoke hotshot Tyrese Campbell as the first signing of the Saudi era at St James’ Park.
And Howe is ready to offer £20m to get the 21-year-old to Tyneside once the transfer window opens.
Howe tracked former Manchester City youth product Campbell, son of former Everton and Arsenal striker Kevin, in his days at Bournemouth.
Campbell’s career was put on hold by a knee injury which restricted him to just 16 Championship appearances last season.
But the England under-17 and under-20 starlet is now back for the Potters, having scored two in eight league appearances this term and taking his Stoke tally to 20 in 75 games.
Campbell shocked Etihad chiefs in 2016 when he turned down professional forms to force through a move to Stoke as he wanted to be in the first team picture.
But that determination as well as his pace and eye for goal caught Howe’s eye and while last season’s injury meant a potential move to Everton fell through, the youngster is now set to be the first piece in the Newcastle revolution.
Campbell netted the latest goal of his injury comeback at the weekend.

    ART OF THE DEAL
Mikel Arteta hinted he is open to helping Manchester City legend Yaya Toure earn his coaching badges.
Toure linked up with Tottenham last week on Wednesday as part of the process of earning his UEFA A-Licence and Arteta appears keen on luring him from the north London rivals.
The Spanish head coach worked with the Ivorian at City where the former was placed as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager and insisted his door is always open.
Arteta said: “He has my number because we’ve spent some years together at City.
“He is a player I appreciate a lot so he can call me and ask me the question.
“He has the experience, expertise and has won a lot in the game.
“He can add value to other players, for sure.”
    GOOD MORNING FOOTY FANS
SunSport can exclusively reveal Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is lining up Stoke hotshot Tyrese Campbell as the first signing of the Saudi era at St James’ Park.
Meanwhile, Willy Caballero is back in the Premier League after signing a short-term deal with Southampton.
Ralph Hasenhuttl has turned to the veteran Argentine stopper following injuries to Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster.
Ex-Man City ace Caballero has been a free agent since leaving Chelsea in the summer.
But after keeping his fitness up with AFC Wimbledon, Caballero has penned a contract until January with the Saints.
Finally, Tottenham have reportedly been hit by a Covid outbreak.
Football London claims numerous players and coaches have tested positive for coronavirus.
But further PCR tests will be conducted this week ahead of games against Rennes and Brighton.

F1 news LIVE: Abu Dhabi GP build-up, Verstappen and Hamilton LEVEL on points ahead of deciding race – latest updates

LEWIS HAMILTON and Max Verstappen’s EPIC F1 title race is going right to the wire, as the defending champ branded his rival “f****** crazy.”The pair finished first and second in Saudi Arabia and are now level on points going into a nail-biting final weekend of fast track action.
There was debris strewn across the track after a heart-stopping moment where Verstappen was forced to let the Brit overtake him and they COLLIDED.
The stench of ill feeling between the Mercedes champ and Red Bull pretender has simmered all season and has boiled over a few times already.
Now, after storming off the podium in a huff, hot-headed Verstappen will have to summon all his might to try and prise the F1 championship off Hamilton, who could become the greatest driver of all time in Abu Dhabi this coming weekend.
Hamilton said of the collision: “This guy is f****** crazy. It was just dangerous driving dude.
“This isn’t the first time I’ve had to avoid collisions.
“It was clear that others around us were willing to take it to all sorts of levels to overtake so I just tried to keep it on the track and stay out of trouble.
“We are supposed to do our racing on track between the white lines.
“The rules haven’t been clear from the stewards and those things have been allowed, so it has continued.”
Hamilton and Verstappen are now both on 369.5 championship points, but only one driver can take the spoils in the last weekend of action.

    MAX ON FORM
Tyson Fury has defended Max Verstappen after the F1 star’s latest controversy with Lewis Hamilton.
Fury said: “I’ve just been reading up about the F1 rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen and how Max is being made out to be a bit of a bad boy
“It’s not nice, especially when you are young and ambitious and want to win.
“Give him a bit of a break – he’s only a young lad trying his best.
“Good luck to both men in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.”

    RULED OUT
Lewis Hamilton took a swipe at rival Max Verstappen by suggesting the rules ‘don’t apply to one of us’ after their collision in Jeddah.
Hamilton won a thrilling Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on Sunday to go level on points with Verstappen and set up a title decider in the final race in Abu Dhabi.
The British superstar narrowly avoided disaster after his Red Bull foe braked suddenly when allowing him to retake position.
It saw the pair collide before the Mercedes driver managed to overtake a few laps later.
The Dutchman was ordered to let Hamilton pass after he cut him up to avoid being overtaken – once again nearly causing a crash.
Hamilton said: “I don’t think I’ve changed the way that I race.
“I think we’re seeing multiple incidents this year where even with Brazil we’re supposed to do our racing on track in between the white lines and the rules haven’t been clear from the stewards, that those things have been allowed, so that’s continued.
“From my understanding, I know that I can’t overtake someone and go off track and then keep the position but I think that’s well known between all us drivers but it doesn’t apply to one of us, I guess.”

    DON’T STAPP NOW
Max Verstappen has been labelled “a gladiator” by Red Bull boss Christian Horner who says it is now his driver’s time to rule the F1 Empire.
Verstappen, 24, clashed with Lewis Hamilton in the sensational Saudi Arabian GP on Sunday to set up a one-race winner-takes-all finale in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
After nine months of wheel-to-wheel racing and 22 races across the globe, both drivers are level on points going into the last race of the season.
Hamilton’s victory in Jeddah came after Verstappen was penalised by the stewards – once for cutting a corner and another time for brake-testing Hamilton, as the two made contact for the third time this season.
With both drivers at war, along with their respective teams, it is all poised to be a duel to the end.
Horner said: “Max has fought like a gladiator [last] weekend and given it everything, so we now have one chance.
“We have a week to regroup and now it goes down to the wire at Abu Dhabi.
“It’s a straight-out fight as it has been for the entire year. For the fans it is fantastic, it keeps the championship dream alive and we have one shot and it’s time to take it.”

    TO THE MAX
Alain Prost can’t rule out a potential crash in Abu Dhabi as Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton’s rivalry has reached peak levels.
Prost knows all about tactical and dangerous driving at the F1 season’s climax.
He told Bild: “The situation could arise where the drivers know at one corner or another ‘I will either win or lose the world championship right here’.
“It’s already so tense, and the tension has only been rising for some time. So you can’t rule out such a scenario.
“I look at Monza, where if Max hadn’t tried to overtake Lewis he would have lost the race, so do you accept the risk or not?
“It’s not easy in a win or lose situation like this.”

    JOS SAYING
Max Verstappen will “do everything” to beat Lewis Hamilton in this weekend’s Formula One title decider in Abu Dhabi.
That is according to Verstappen’s father Jos, who is a former F1 driver himself and believes his son will leave it all out on the track as his rivalry with Hamilton reaches its intense conclusion.
The Dutchman, however, doesn’t expect a crash to occur, even though a collision that renders both drivers unable to finish the race would lead to Max’s first world championship.
Jos told the Mail: “I don’t think that [a crash] will happen.
“Max absolutely wants to win. He will definitely go for it.
“He will clearly try to beat him. He will do everything to get the win, that’s for sure. It will be exciting.”

Meanwhile, Hamilton is odds-on with Ladbrokes to win a record-breaking eighth World Drivers’ Championship.
After a scintillating race in Saudi Arabia, the bookies have priced Hamilton up at just 2/5 to come out on top as all eyes turn to Abu Dhabi next weekend, with Verstappen being a 7/4 shot in the betting as things stand.
Elsewhere, 10/1 says Hamilton scoops a third BBC Sports Personality of the Year later this month.
Finally, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has claimed his team are treated differently to Mercedes by FIA stewards.
He said: “Our engineers are preparing that we can prove Max was constant with his braking, he didn’t brake test like Hamilton said.
“Then he crashed into our car, he unfortunately put two cuts in the rear tyre. That was so severe that we couldn’t attack anymore. We had to take speed out.
“That was the one thing. The next thing was at the second start, Hamilton was more than ten [car] lengths behind.
“[Sebastian] Vettel got penalised in Budapest when he did it. But with this manoeuvre he [Hamilton] was preparing his tyre better for the start.
“Then he pushed Max off, no reaction. So we feel we are not treated the same.”
    LEW ARE YA?
Will Lewis Hamilton become an eight-time world champion in Abu Dhabi?

    FANDEMONIUM
Max Verstappen thanked fans for voting him Driver of the Day at the Saudi GP.
He beamed: Luckily the fans have a clear mind about racing.
“I’m just trying to race. This sport is more about penalties than racing. I’m pleased the fans enjoyed it and I gave it my all today.”
    STAPP IT
Max Verstappen admits he ‘didn’t agree’ with a number of events at the Saudi GP.
He said: “It was quite eventful. A lot of things happened which I don’t fully agree with but it is what it is.
“I tried on the track to give it all but the tyres weren’t lasting until the end.
“I think it was good for the end of the stint but I was lacking a bit of rubber at the end. But nevertheless [I was] still second.
“[For the collision] I slowed down, I wanted to let him [Hamilton] by, I was on the right but he didn’t want to overtake and we touched.
“I don’t really understand what happened there. It will be decided [at Abu Dhabi] hopefully we have a good weekend.”
    MAX ANGER
Lewis Hamilton labelled title rival Max Verstappen ‘f***ing crazy’ after crashing into the back of him during a remarkable Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Verstappen, who had already been given a five-second penalty for leaving the track earlier in the race, had been informed he needed to give the lead back to Hamilton following a decision from the stewards.
But, after touching moments earlier when Hamilton attempted to pass Verstappen, the Dutchman then slowed down to let Hamilton past but the Brit appeared confused.
Then when Hamilton drove up behind Verstappen he hit the back of the Red Bull – an incident the seven-time champion believes was caused by Verstappen brake-testing him.
Speaking during the race, Hamilton said: “This guy is f***ing crazy, man. It was just dangerous driving dude.”
    FIT TO BE TIED
Enzo Fittipaldi smashed into the back of Theo Pourchaire after he stalled on the grid at the beginning of the F2 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Pourchaire started third on the grid but stalled straight away.
A number of drivers avoided the ART driver but Fittipaldi had already picked up considerable speed and could not avoid the collision.
Fittipaldi was sent crashing into the barriers with parts of his car flying over the edge of the track before the car came to a halt.
F2 driver Fittipaldi smashes into back of stalled car in huge crash with part of vehicle flying over barrier
    MAX SPEED
Max Verstappen’s dad claims he has no respect for Lewis Hamilton as a man.
He said: “I never speak to Lewis.
“He doesn’t need to speak to me. I’m nothing to him. I respect him as a driver, but the rest… nothing.
“Max and Lewis only speak on the podium, very little.
“When I see Max with other drivers, I think they get on very well. But with Lewis nothing. Lewis is in his own world.
“I did F1 — compared to Max I was nowhere — but I talk to some of the drivers and they are all very friendly, or just say hello or whatever.
“We are on the plane together many times, always the same group of drivers and we have a lot of fun.
“But there are ‘some’ drivers who don’t look at you, who look at the ground.”
    WINNING FORMULA
Being an F1 driver, Lewis Hamilton is a natural globetrotter.
Flying from circuit to circuit, the Brit has won the world championship SEVEN times.
Before he set off in pursuit of the 2021 title – having overtaken Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 career race wins last year – he at least had a choice of four luxury homes to self-isolate in.
From a £32MILLION penthouse in New York to an £18MILLION London mansion and a Monte Carlo retreat, the 36-year-old racer knows how to live a life of luxury.

    MARK MY WORDS
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has claimed his team are treated differently to Mercedes by FIA stewards.

“Then he pushed Max off, no reaction. So we feel we are not treated the same.”
    SAUD BUT TRUE
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was one of the most memorable in recent history.
Jeddah certainly lived up to the hype as fans saw two red flags, crashes, near misses and time penalties.
But what seven key moments in Saudi set up the title-decider?
    CHECK THEM OUT HERE

    DON’T STAPP BELIEVING
Max Verstappen has been labelled “a gladiator” by Red Bull boss Christian Horner who says it is now his driver’s time to rule the F1 Empire.
Horner said: “Max has fought like a gladiator [last] weekend and given it everything, so we now have one chance.

    RACE PAIN
Red Bull boss Christian Horner has labelled Lewis Hamilton’s collision with title rival Max Verstappen ‘very frustrating’.
He said: “That was a race that was very difficult to manage. I think race control struggled it as well with the amount of debris and VSCs (Virtual Safety Cars), restarts, safety cars.
“I think we feel hard done by with the five-second penalty and in the incident where Lewis has driven up the back of Max.
“They’ll go and explain in front of the stewards, but Max was trying to give the place up. We informed race control we were going to give the place up.
“He lifted off, I think you can hear Lewis has lifted off. I don’t know if he was messing around for the DRS line there.
“It was clear that we were giving the place up. We’d informed race control. That was what we were going to do.
“There’d been a debate about it. Michael was adamant that you have a choice or it’s going to the stewards.
“At that point you know it’s going to be a penalty. So we said, ‘OK we’ll give the place up.’ We informed race control.”
    STAPP RIGHT NOW
Max Verstappen stormed off the podium after finishing second in Saudi Arabia.
The Red Bull ace refused to hang out for the champagne spray after losing out to Lewis Hamilton.
And he refused to look his rival in the face as they accepted their trophies following yesterday’s dramatic race.

    MAX POWER
Max Verstappen was hit with a 10-second penalty after causing a crash with Lewis Hamilton at the Saudi Arabian GP.
The Red Bull ace was handed the time punishment by race stewards on Sunday night after colliding with his Mercedes rival on lap 37.
However, Verstappen keeps his second-place finish after coming in 16 seconds faster than third-place Valtteri Bottas.
And it means he remains level with Hamilton points going into next weekend’s final race with the title at stake.
    HAM HOCK
Lewis Hamilton is odds-on with Ladbrokes to win a record-breaking eighth World Drivers’ Championship.
After a scintillating race in Saudi Arabia, the bookies have priced Hamilton up at just 2/5 to come out on top as all eyes turn to Abu Dhabi next weekend, with Max Verstappen being a 7/4 shot in the betting as things stand.

    RUN WITH THE WOLFF
Toto Wolff was left fuming with Max Verstappen’s driving in Saudi Arabia.
He said: “I don’t think this is done yet. Lewis deserved it, he could’ve been out a few times with a broken wing. That was spectacular, but not good racing.
“The telemetry shows he [Verstappen] is slowing down, then accelerated, then slowing down again. Lewis did not know [if he was being allowed to move ahead], it’s the wrong sequence of messages.
“We need to look at the stewards and they look at the telemetry and come to a judgement.
“It was a degree of frustration and I need to reserve judgement until I’ve seen the race again tomorrow.
“The driving needs to be assessed and looked at. It is hard, very hard, maybe over the line. We just want to have a clean championship and the best man wins.
“If it is Max, I’m at peace with that but we need it to be a fair race. Max has more wins so it’s still an advantage.
“It’s important to have a great, great race at the end of the season, with two fantastic drivers racing each other. It’s going down to the wire and that’s how it should be.”
    RULED OUT
Lewis Hamilton took a swipe at rival Max Verstappen by suggesting the rules don’t apply to one of them after their collision in Jeddah.

    ‘CRAZY’
Lewis Hamilton has said that title rival Max Verstappen drives over the limit following an incredible Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
After the race, the seven-time world champion said: “For me I really had to try and keep my cool out there which was really difficult to do.
“I have raced a lot of drivers through my life in 28 years and I have come across a lot of different characters.
“There’s a few at the top which are over the limit, rules don’t apply or don’t think of the rules.
“I just try to do my talking on the track and keep the car between the white lines and do it the right way.”
Who wins the F1 drivers’ world championship title if they both crash out?
If both crash out in Abu Dhabi, forcing both to retire from the race, Verstappen will be crowned champion.
Neither will pick up any points for finishing below 11th.
And with Verstappen having nine GP wins to Hamilton’s eight, he will take the F1 crown.
How can Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen finish level on points?
The two title challengers can finish level on points if one of the other finishes ninth or tenth.
Ninth picks up two points in the championship and tenth only generates one.
But should the tenth-placed driver set the fastest lap of the race, they will pick up an extra point, meaning both pick up two for Abu Dhabi – therefore finishing level on 371.5 points.

    THAT’S ALL FROM MERSEYSIDE!
Everton came back and beat Arsenal with a score of 2-1 in an extremely dramatic encounter at Goodison Park.
The two teams struggled to produce in the opening few minutes and so the biggest highlight was the home fans’ protest in the 27th minute when a minority of the crowd left their seats as a sign of protest towards the club’s hierarchy – if only they knew…
VAR then checked for a red card on Ben Godfrey after his studs hit a fallen Takehiro Tomiyasu in the face but it was deemed that he shouldn’t be sent off.
The Merseysiders may have been lucky with Godfrey but were unlucky when Yerry Mina couldn’t continue and was replaced by Mason Holgate.
Everton thought they got the lead just a minute before half-time when Richarlison headed Andros Townsend’s free-kick behind Aaron Ramsdale’s net.
However, VAR deemed that the Brazil international was just offside.
Arsenal, though, managed to break the deadlock in the second minute of stoppage time when a fabulous cross from Kieran Tierney down the left found an unmarked Martin Odegaard, who volleyed the ball past Jordan Pickford.
Everton started strong in the second half and thought they finally equalised on 57 minutes when Abdoulaye Doucoure released Richarlison and he beat Ramsdale with a fine finish only for his goal to be chalked off for offside by VAR once more.
But the Toffees didn’t give up as they finally got their cracker in the 79th minute when Demarai Gray’s long-range shot hit the crossbar and a completely unmarked Richarlison headed the ball behind the net.
Eddie Nketiah had the chance to regain the lead on 84 minutes when a cross by Bukayo Saka set him up in front of open goal and his header somehow hit the post.
That proved to be costly as Everton completed their comeback in the second minute of stoppage time when Andre Gomes beat Granit Xhaka for the ball in midfield and passed to Gray, who tried another long-range shot that hit the bar and ricocheted to the back of the net.
That’s all from us here at SunSport, have a lovely night!

    ODEGAARD REACTS
Arsenal star Martin Odegaard suggested the loss to Everton showed the Gunners may have a mindset problem.
Odegaard said: “It’s a hard one to take. I think in general we were not at the level we needed to be at today.
“We had some good moments but we have to do much better. We should have been better.
“It’s hard to say. That’s just how it is sometimes. It’s hard to say exactly what happened. We have to do better when we have that lead. We stopped playing and gave them the game they wanted to play.
“I think it is [a mindset problem]. When you’re leading 1-0 you get afraid to lose the win and in my opinion that’s what we did wrong today. You go for the second goal and that was the intention but we didn’t manage to do that on the pitch”

    BENITEZ REACTS
Everton manager Rafa Benitez came to this match with immense pressure on his back.
However, Benitez has managed to turn the mood around with a stunning performance against Arsenal.
The Spanish head coach also refused to explain why he didn’t include Lucas Digne in his squad.

    GRAY REACTS
Everton star Demarai Gray was all smiles after his winner against Arsenal at Goodison Park.
Gray produced a stunning long-range effort with just a few minutes of stoppage time to go until full-time.
The winger said: “It was a crazy moment, my best moment here so far.”

    COLEMAN REACTS
Everton captain Seamus Coleman praised Demarai Gray for his winner against Arsenal.
Coleman told Sky Sports: “Some of these players don’t realise the ability they have, and how good they can be.
“[Gray] has got bundles of ability and he just needs to work hard every single day because that’s what the top players do.
“That’s what he’s been doing, that’s what he’s done this week and that’s why he got his goal”

    GRAY GOAL
Here is how Everton turned the game around in the second minute of stoppage time.
A lot of it comes down to Andre Gomes beating Granit Xhaka for the ball in midfield and passing to Demarai Gray.
Gray then found the space and delivered an impeccable long-range effort that beat Aaron Ramsdale.
The winger got booked for removing his shirt while celebrating, but something tells me he will be fine…

    THAT’S RICH
Everton star Richarlison led his team to a remarkable comeback victory over Arsenal.
The forward is now the joint-third top Brazilian goalscorer in Premier League history.
The Brazil international is tied with Philippe Coutinho and is behind Gabriel Jesus as well as Roberto Firmino.

F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix LIVE RESULTS: Hamilton WINS, Brit LEVEL on points with Verstappen – latest updates, reaction

LEWIS HAMILTON has won an action-packed Saudi Arabian Grand Prix to take the Driver’s Championship to the final week.On a day where there were two red flags and numerous other minor incidents, it was all about Hamilton and Max Verstappen at the front.
And things came to a head when the pair COLLIDED late in the race, with Verstappen looking to yield his place on the straight but the Brit unaware of his intentions.
A five-second penalty meant that Verstappen was unable to pull back the Mercedes star and it’s now all eyes on Abu Dhabi.
The pair will head into the final race on the SAME points – it’s all up for grabs.

    Result: 1st Hamilton 2nd Verstappen 3rd Bottas 4th Ocon

Follow ALL the action with our live blog below…
    ‘CRAZY’
Lewis Hamilton suggested Red Bull rival Max Verstappen drives over the limit after his action-packed win in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Hamilton said: “For me I really had to try and keep my cool out there which was really difficult to do.
“I have raced a lot of drivers through my life in 28 years and I have come across a lot of different characters.
“There’s a few at the top which are over the limit, rules don’t apply or don’t think of the rules.
“I just try to do my talking on the track and keep the car between the white lines and do it the right way.
“There were so many crazy curb walls and then he obviously brake tested I think to try and get the DRS into the last corner to overtake me again going into turn one.
“Does Max fall into that category…He is over the limit for sure. I have avoided collisions on so many occasions with the guy and I don’t know in his mind being the one who does that. But you fight to live another day which I did”
    GETTY IMAGES
    VERSTAPPEN ON COLLISSION
Max Verstappen discussed his side of events involving the collision with Lewis Hamilton in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Verstappen said: “At one point he ran into my back.
“I was looking into my mirror waiting for him to pass. They told me to give him the position. The whole season has been up and down, good moments and bad moments.
“[Abu Dhabi] is going to be exciting – I just try to do the best I can”
    WOLFF ADDED
“Credit to Race Control, it’s difficult to manage.
“I need to reserve judgement, I need to see the race more before I say anything that maybe isn’t right.
“It’s really the driving that needs to be assessed and looked at. It’s hard, really hard, maybe too hard. We just want the best man to win and if it’s Max [Verstappen] at the end so be it.
“Everybody has had their fair share of bad luck, Max lost points at Silverstone, wasn’t at all to blame in Hungary. Then we’ve had engine penalties…”
    MORE FROM WOLFF
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff praised the race directors on their attempts to manage a wild event.
“We’re biased, obviously from our side there was frustration [after the first red flag]. I need to reserve judgement, see the race again tomorrow.
“It’s really [Max Verstappen’s] driving that needs to be assessed and looked at. It’s hard, really hard, maybe over-the-line hard.
“We just want a clean championship. If it’s Max [who wins], I’ll make peace with that. But we just want it to be [fair]”
    WOLFF ON COLLISSION
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff addressed the collision between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
Wolff said: “The telemetry shows that [Verstappen] was slowing down, then accelerating again, then slowing down.
“No, [Hamilton] didn’t know [Verstappen was supposed to let him past], and I think that [was due to] the wrong sequence of messages coming through there.
“I don’t remember, honestly. It was so intense, the sequence of events. I think it could have been confusion, absolutely, but the stewards will look precisely at the telemetry and come to a judgement.
“If the drivers were not informed properly, that’s going to play a big role”
    GETTY IMAGES
    HORNER REACTS
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner suggested that Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton was “messing around” as he collided with Max Verstappen at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Horner told Sky Sports: “Max was trying to give the place up. We informed race control that we were going to give the place up and Max was lifting off. I think Lewis was lifting off.
“I don’t know if [Hamilton] was messing around looking for the DRS line. It was clear that we had given the place up.
“It’s weird because Lewis is slowing down behind him, it sounds like he’s lifting off.
“It was like [Hamilton] didn’t want to pass him because of the DRS. We were trying to give the place up and Lewis then drives up the back of Max’s car.
“We’ve picked up quite a bit of damage from that. Very, very frustrating”
    WOLFF REACTS
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff insists Lewis Hamilton “deserved” the victory in the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.
Wolff said: “The result at the end, winning the race, I think he deserved it.
“I don’t want to now have dirty laundry here but what the telemetry shows is that [Max Verstappen] is slowing down and speeds off again.
“Hamilton didn’t know [he was being given the place]”
    BOTTAS REACTS
Mercedes star Valtteri Bottas finished third in the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix and admits it was “not an easy day”.
Bottas said: “Not an easy day, the first red flag being on the hard tyre [for the restart] was a mistake.
“It wasn’t easy to overtake but finally on the last lap I got third.
“It’s a big challenge physically and mentally”
    PODIUM TIME
Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas took their place in second and third respectively on the podium.
And on top of it all stands Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton after is incedible victory in Saudi Arabia.
Hamilton and Verstappen are level on points and it will all come to a head in Abu Dhabi

    HAMILTON REACTS
Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton praised his team after an incredible victory in Saudi Arabia.
Hamilton said: “That was incredibly tough.
“I tried to be as sensible as I could be, with all my race experience over the years, just keeping the car on track and staying clean.
“I’m really proud of everyone and grateful for the car this weekend.
“I didn’t quite understand why he hit the brakes so heavily, and then I ran into the back of him, and then he drove off so it was a bit confusing”
    VERSTAPPEN REACTS
Red Bull star Max Verstappen is looking forward to the Abu Dhabi race where it will all be decided.
Verstappen said after the race: “Yeah, it was quite eventful.
“A lot of things happened that I don’t fully agree with, but I gave it my all.
“It will be decided [in Abu Dhabi] so hopefully we’ll have a good weekend, we’ll see”
    LEADERBOARD
Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton finished first in the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.
Red Bull rival Max Verstappen followed behind in second with Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas third.
Alpine’s Esteban Ocon and McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo completed the top five.
    More below:

    REACTION
Hamilton kept his head and handled the pressure brilliantly. He did not let up and even after colliding with his rival remained cool and got the overtake.
Hamilton said: “Great job guys, great job. That’s more like it. Let’s keep pushing!”
Verstappen said: “It is what it is mate. I tried.”
    ALL LEVEL
Hamilton’s win and fastest lap means he and Verstappen head to Abu Dhabi LEVEL on points.
    HAMILTON WINS!
The inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has been thrilling from first minute to last.
Verstappen finishes second and Bottas pips Ocon to third right on the finish line!
A great day for Mercedes but certainly a stressful one. Team principal Toto Wolff has been tearing his hair out all evening.
    LAP 49/50
Bottas desperately trying to sneak past Ocon but he may have left it too late.
Ocon the fastest of anyone through the first sector. It looks like he will hold onto third.
    LAP 48/50
Mercedes think Verstappen is in trouble on his tyres – the Dutchman is nursing his way to the end and now EIGHT seconds behind Hamilton.
    LAP 47/50
Hamilton has been warned to steer clear of the curbs.
He is still setting a blistering pace but Verstappen is slowing on old tyres.
Meanwhile, Ocon and Bottas are battling for a podium place – the gap between those two is under a second.
    LAP 46/50
Meanwhile, Hamilton continues to get faster and faster despite the damaged win.
He once again records the fastest lap that should be enough to give him the extra point.
    LAP 45/50
Verstappen could need to pit and that, plus the five second penalty, could even allow Ocon to overtake.
So much drama left to unfold in Jeddah…
    LAP 44/50
Hamilton leads with six laps remaining and has the five second advantage over Verstappen due to the Red Bull man’s penalty.
Verstappen let Hamilton through when he didn’t need to…
    LAP 43/50
    HAMILTON TAKES THE LEAD!
    LAP 43/50
    Time penalty for Verstappen.
He left the track to retake his lead so has been given a five second penalty by the race stewards.
It is the first time they have got involved.
    LAP 43/50
Hamilton slowed behind Verstappen during the incident – he clearly did not know he was being allowed to overtake.
Meanwhile, the Red Bull leader yet Hamilton pass and immediately retook his lead.
    LAP 41/50
Mercedes complain they did not have time to tell Hamilton he was being given his place back.
Hamilton was left confused and did not realise he was being allowed to overtake.
Ron Meadows to Race Control: “We had no idea he (Verstappen) was going to do that. You told me as it happened.”

Tottenham target £30m Pickford transfer, Everton could move for Mourinho, Chelsea transfers news LATEST

CHELSEA were stunned by West Ham as Arthur Masuaku scored a late winner at the London Stadium. And that result would have been all the more pleasing for the Hammers and captain Declan Rice, who Thomas Tuchel said “is a Chelsea boy” before the match.
Meanwhile Everton are ready to sell England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, with Tottenham keen to make a £30m move.
That would free up funds for a hypothetical move for Jose Mourinho, who Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri is reported to be interested in if Rafa Benitez gets the boot.

    RONALDO MESSAGE
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo took to social media after the team’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
Ronaldo played a big role in the result, which kicked off Ralf Rangick’s era on the right foot.
The star forward posted a picture of himself with the following caption: “Step by step, we stand United!”
    More below:

    BARKLEY INTEREST
Leeds are keeping tabs on Chelsea ace Ross Barkley ahead of the January transfer window.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that the Whites are eyeing Barkley as they look for reinforcements.
The midfielder has barely featured for the Blues this season as he is behind the likes of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the pecking order.
The England international is also attracting interest from elsewhere
    EVERTON PROTEST
Everton supporters are planning a mass walkout to protest against the club’s board on Monday when the team takes on Arsenal at Goodison Park.
The Toffees are without a victory since September and fans are frustrated with the club’s direction.
The final nail in the coffin took place during the 4-1 thrashing against local rivals Liverpool.
The fans are planning to demonstrate on the 27th minute to mark the 27 years since the Merseysiders won a trophy
    SALAH ON BARCELONA
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is “happy” with Barcelona’s interest but insists he is focused on the Reds.
Salah told Egyptian broadcaster MBC Masr TV via KingFut: “I read what was said about Xavi’s interest to sign me.
“This is something that makes me happy that a team like Barcelona is interested in me, but I’m happy in Liverpool and we will see what happens in the future.
“At the moment, I prefer to stay in the Premier League as it’s the strongest league in the world”
    SALAH MESSAGE
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has urged the club’s hierarchy to sort out his new contract.
Salah is approaching the final 18 months of his present deal at Anfield but has been vocal about his desire to stay with the Reds.
The star forward said: “I said it several times, if the decision is up to me, I want to stay in Liverpool.
“But the decision is in the hands of the management and they have to solve this issue. There is no problem but we have to reach an agreement for the contract. It’s up to them.
“Your financial value shows how much the club appreciates you and that they are ready to do anything for you to stay, but the decision itself is not based on those financial matters only.
“There are things like the ambition of the team and the coach and what he wants to do with the team and the players he wants. These are all important points when making the decision”
    GETTY IMAGES
    RED RAID
Manchester United are interested in Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong ahead of the January transfer window.
According to El Nacional, United are very keen on De Jong but are not willing to pay more than £47million.
That is £18m less than what Barca offered Ajax for the midfielder’s signature in 2019.
However, the report adds the Blaugrana would not even consider accepting a price lower than £60m
    FERNANDES REACTS
    AUBAMEYANG CRITICISM
Ex-Tottenham ace Darren Bent criticised Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and suggested he can learn a lot from Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bent told talkSPORT: “When you look at Aubameyang and you look at Ronaldo, one of the biggest differences to me is the hunger and the desire.
“I look at Ronaldo and he is absolutely starving hungry to score goals.
“One’s [36]. How old is Aubameyang, 33? I understand that. He’s not the greatest because of his hunger, it’s because of his ability. You can be hungry to score goals.
“But I look at Aubameyang sometimes and he’s not in the box, there’s times when he’s getting beaten by the defenders. Listen, his biggest attribute is his pace. So there are times when Arsenal are struggling in games, what do you have to do?
“You have to clip it over the top, just roll it down the channel and let him use his pace and get Arsenal up the pitch. It’s like he doesn’t even do that sometimes.
“As the ball went wide, he’s not in the box. At times, there have been occasions where he has carried Arsenal on his back – pre-[signing a] contract.
“The cup final, the start of the following season, he carried Arsenal on his back and he was fantastic. That player is not the same player that you see today”
    CHELSEA 3-0 ARSENAL
Chelsea have won the Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.
The Blues defeated Arsenal 3-0 in what poses as a repeat of the 2018 final.
The west Londoners capped their impressive success thanks to a goal by Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr’s brace
    GETTY IMAGES
    McGINN & TONIC
Aston Villa star John McGinn is eyed by Manchester United after Ralf Rangnick’s arrival at the helm, according to SunSport’s Duncan Wright.
United are looking for midfield reinforcements amid the uncertainty regarding the futures of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek.
Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips and West Ham’s Declan Rice have been touted as potential options.
But Scotland international McGinn has also caught the eye with his influential performances for club and country
    GETTY IMAGES
    KULUSEVSKI REMINDER
Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly locked in a transfer war over Juventus ace Dejan Kulusevski.
And neither team has taken the advantage over the other in signing Kulusevski
According to Calciomercato, both Gunners and Spurs have ‘opened preliminary talks’ with the 21-year-old’s representatives.
And both clubs are said to be keen on a loan deal with the option to buy the forward.
Juve though would prefer to sanction an immediate permanent deal, and are willing to listen to offers in the region of £25million for the Sweden international
    “CHELSEA BOY”
Thomas Tuchel branded Declan Rice as a “Chelsea boy” before Saturday’s loss at the London Stadium.
Rice started out in the Blues’ academy before leaving the club at 14 years old, but the defending European champions have long-planned to bring him back to Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel said: “It happens at every single club in the world that sometimes players get released in one moment and they have their career on a different way, so this is a pretty normal thing.
“I am absolutely aware that he is a Chelsea boy and he comes through the academy and he is very close to our guys.
“He’s a very strong player and in general, I am absolutely impressed by [Tomas] Soucek and him, what they do since I came into the Premier League. What they do for West Ham.
“They are real helpers on the pitch, they have an incredible volume both of them. They take responsibility for high pressing, for deep defending, for filling the gaps on the wings, for deep build-up, for goals from set-pieces. Both of them are simply doing everything”
    ASTON VILLA 2-1 LEICESTER
Aston Villa beat Leicester 2-1 at Villa Park in a match that Steven Gerrard increased pressure on his former manager Brendan Rodgers.
Harvey Barnes opened the scoring early in the match after just 14 minutes.
But Villa equalised only three minutes later with Ezri Konsa, who proved to be the hero for the hosts.
That is because he completed the Villans’ comeback on 54 minutes
    ONE MOUR
Roma boss Jose Mourinho is a shock managerial target for Everton if they sack Rafa Benitez.
Benitez is fighting for his future after a horror run of just two points from their last eight games.
According to the Mirror, the Toffees may consider the Spaniard’s long-term rival Mourinho as his replacement if there is no improvement.
The former Liverpool boss may be playing his last card on Monday when the Merseysiders host Arsenal at Goodison Park

    EVERTON-ARSENAL PREVIEW
Arsenal take on Everton in the Premier League on Monday at Goodison Park.
The Gunners have no fresh injury concerns to worry about after the defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, especially after Bukayo Saka’s comeback from his own injury problems.
Manager Mikel Arteta will still be without Sead Kolasinac and Granit Xhaka due to a knee ligament and ankle injury respectively
Everton boss Rafa Benitez, on the other hand, is dealing with an injury headache as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been out since the win at Brighton in August, is still nursing a thigh problem.
Salomon Rondon also picked up a thigh strain in the thumping at the hands of Liverpool.
In midfield Tom Davies and Andre Gomes are not expected to play whereas Yerry Mina is also out of action
    TAKE YOUR PICK
Everton are open to selling Jordan Pickford to raise funds but the asking price makes it hard, according to SunSport’s Alan Nixon.
Pickford is the Toffees’ biggest asset but they price him at around £30million.
The goalkeeper is also on about £100,000-a-week wages, with his contract running until 2024.
Tottenham have looked at the figures and although they could match the England international’s salary, the fee on top makes it an expensive transfer
    ASTON VILLA 1-1 LEICESTER
Aston Villa and Leicester are level at Villa Park as both teams have returned to the dressing room for half-time oranges.
Harvey Barnes opened the scoring early in the match after just 14 minutes.
But Villa equalised only three minutes later with Ezri Konsa.
This match can honestly go either way in the second half
    RANGNICK ON RONALDO
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick praised Cristiano Ronaldo after the win over Crystal Palace.
Questions had been raised over how Rangnick can utilise Ronaldo once he takes over.
However, the German coach is more than happy with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s performance against Palace.
Rangnick said: “By the way, what Ronaldo did today ‘against the ball’: Chapeau”

    RANGNICK REACTS
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is satisfied with the performance against Crystal Palace as the players gave him more than he expected:
Rangnick told the BBC: “I’m very happy with the way the team performed, the way they played, especially the first half-hour, that was exceptional, I thought. The only thing missing in that period was one or two nil … we had control of the game … I am very happy with the result and the clean sheet.
“I said in my first press conference, there are things we need to improve on, to get clean sheets, to get control of the game. What they [my players] showed was more than I expected, to be honest.
“Patience was important but we always tried to be on the front foot … that’s what I liked today … we were always trying to keep them away from goal … We wanted to play with two strikers and with two 10s, to get more control in the centre of midfield”
