BETTING SPECIAL – GET JAKE PAUL AT 25/1 OR TYRON WOODLEY AT 50/1

    46. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
Back underway in Qatar, first goal crucial.
Surely these two teams can’t keep up the same intensity?
Algeria start quickly and force an early corner.
    Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
    Chances, cards and thunderous noise.
What an entertaining half of football that was.
Tunisia smashed the bar early on, before Meziani missed a complete sitter moments later for Algeria.
There’s been five yellow cards, a couple of brawls and a lot of finger pointing.
Great fun. Back in 15 for the second half.

    Half time: Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
No major chances in the added time, just another flailing elbow.
Level at the break in Qatar.

    45: Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
Plenty of incident in this first half and five minutes added a result.
Will be stunned if we have 11vs11 at the end of this. Tackles flying in.
    43. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
This one needs half-time, with tempers flaring.
Another yellow card, this time for Ben Hmida.
    40. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
This is where people moan about VAR and probably for good reason.
There was a LOT going on there, a lot of it behind the refs back.
He’s booked someone else in the melee, without consulting the men upstairs.
    37. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
Lots of pushing and shoving, Jaziri pleading his innocence with an Algerian still on the deck.
He might have got away with one here. Just a yellow card and a firm ticking off from the German ref.

    36. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
    It’s all kicking off!
VAR likely to get involved, Jaziri could be in trouble…
    33. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
Back-to-back corners for Algeria as they start to turn the screw, but they only find a white shirt who hammers it clear.
Moments later and a proper goalmouth scramble, with Hassen eventually keeping out the Brahimi effort for yet another corner.
Tunisia now clinging on after their strong start.
    29. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
Finally things starting to just calm down, although nobody has told the crowd.
Every tackle, mis-placed pass or shot is met with a volley of noise. Proper final atmosphere – all the game needs is that opener.
    24. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
Chances galore but somehow it remains goalless.
That miss from Meziani really was a shocker, somehow firing wide when it looked easier to score.

    21. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
Another free header for Tunisia and it’s all the men in white at the moment.
The corner is put right on the penalty spot, with Talbi’s effort sailing high over the top.
Straight down the other end and Meziani fires wide from four yards. Wow.
    It’s coming, people.
    18. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
The way this is going, no chance it ends goalless.
This time Benayada almost puts this his own net after a mix-up at the back.
We’ll be unlucky not to have a goal by the half as both sides continue to pile forward, with the tempo and adrenaline high.
In amongst all the carnage, Chetti picked up the first booking for a late challenge on Sliti.
    14. OFF THE BAR! Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
    So close for Tunisia.
A long, raking freekick finds centre-half Bilel Ifa practically unmarked at the far stick.
His powerful header beats the keeper, but thunders back off the crossbar.
    12. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
    Potential penalty?
    Hmm, it would be soft.
Hannibal twists and turns in the box before hitting the deck – there was contact but he looked to be on his way down already.
    9. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
A corner down the other end this time, but again it comes to nothing as Algeria easily clear the floated cross.
We still await the first major chance as whistles rain down from the terraces after the ref decides to let a 50/50 go.
Could be a tough afternoon for German official Daniel Siebert.

    6. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
After that frantic start both teams just looking to hold the ball, settle into the tie.
A few beefy tackles flying in already, with Man Utd’s Hannibal Mejbri penalised but avoiding an early card.
Whenever the ball gets near the box, the crowd goes ballistic. Great to have a near full house in.
    2. Tunisia 0-0 Algeria
Fast start from both sides, as Chetti flies forward to force an early corner for Algeria.
Drager has to shake off a knock, with the corner coming to nothing after Brahimi’s tame volley is pouched by Hassen.
    Electric atmosphere.
    Kick-off! We’re underway in Qatar
Anthems all done, with Algeria’s version of Michael Buble putting in a storming performance.
A few closed eyes and near tears from the men in green – they take that battle.
The 2021 Arab Cup Final is a go.
    Tunisia vs Algeria
A very decent crowd in as we begin with the usual pomp and ceremony.
Marcel Desailly enters with the trophy, along with former Wigan and Reading stopper Ali Al-Habsi. There’s a sentence I’ll never write again.
Fair play, what a fancy trophy. Solid gold apparently.
The teams enter to Seven Nation Army, a staple around the world it seems. Almost game time.
    Final countdown
The players heading back to their dressing rooms, not long until kick-off in Qatar.
Anything but 0-0, please. With a huge proportion of games off in England this weekend we could all use some entertainment.

    Head to head
The sides have met already in 2021, but that was a far stronger Algeria side which featured Riyad Mahrez and Sofiane Feghouli.
Algeria ran out 2-0 winners during that friendly, but the last competitive meeting between the two sides was at the AFCON in 2017.
Tunisia won that one 2-1. Like the bookies think below, it’s all up for grabs today.
    What are the odds?
Not much to split between the two sides – and the bookies agree.
They make Algeria slight favourites at 13/10, with the draw a very generous 17/10.
Tunisia are the slight outsiders on Betfair at 2/1, so a tenner on Hannibal’s side will bring you in a tidy £30 return.
    Fan power
This is a test event for next winter’s World Cup and things are looking in good shape.
Just the 25c tonight, perfect weather for kick-off at 6pm local time.
The teams are out to warm up, the stands beginning to fill…

    Algeria team news
And here’s how Algeria line-up in their first ever Arab Cup final…
Starting XI: M’Bohli, Benayada, Bedrane, Benlamri, Chetti, Mrezigue, Bendebka, Meziani, Brahimi, Belaili, Boundedjah.

    ENGLAND FACE HUNGARY HEADACHE
England bosses have been given a huge headache after being drawn against Hungary in the Nations League.
Gareth Southgate must take his team back to Budapest, where players were subjected to racist abuse during a World Cup qualifier in September.
The Three Lions were yesterday handed a tough set of fixtures in their League A group, with Italy and Germany also featuring.
Matches will be played in June and September of next year, with the finals, which England reached two years ago, in 2023.
Hungary were hit with a fine of nearly £160,000 and a two-match ban, one of which was suspended, after the problems in September.
Fifa’s disciplinary committee acted after Jude Bellingham and Raheem Sterling were targeted with monkey chants, while objects were thrown at players during the Three Lions’ 4-0 win.
Hungary were subsequently forced to play their World Cup qualifier at home to Albania behind closed doors.
Equally, the FA faces security issues for the return home game.
Hungary fans, aided by Polish supporters, caused problems in the away end at the start of the World Cup qualifier at Wembley in October, which finished 1-1.
The Metropolitan Police said there was ‘minor disorder’ from fans after officers entered the stand to make an arrest for a racially-aggravated public order offence.
The dates of the fixtures will be announced TODAY.
    ALEXANDER THE LATE
    Here’s Trent Alexander-Arnold’s match-sealing masterpiece in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat of Newcastle.
The Reds went a point off leaders Man City, rounded off by TAA’s late long-range laser.

    MOUNTING A GOAL THREAT
Covid-hit Chelsea will be frustrated by their misses in tonight’s 1-1 draw with Everton.
But England midfielder Mason Mount at least helped make up for the absence of coronavirus suffers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner up front by netting for the fourth straight Prem game.
Here’s how he did it – and in some style!

TOON IN ‘£85M BID FOR UTD TARGET VLAHOVIC’
Newcastle could bid £85million for Manchester United and Arsenal target Dusan Vlahovic.
Journalist Filippo Grassia told Passione Inter that the Toon will try to steal a march for Fiorentina’s Serbia striker.
Vlahovic, 21, has hit 15 goals in 17 Serie A matches this season.
    RESULT: LIVERPOOL 3 NEWCASTLE 1
Liverpool cut Man City’s Prem lead to a point with a victory overwhelming in all but margin.
Jonjo Shelvey’s early Toon opener was overturned by Diogo Jota, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late stunner.
    GOAL! LIVERPOOL 3 NEWCASTLE 1
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s 25-yard thunderbolt into the top corner surely made victory safe for Liverpool.
    RESULT: CHELSEA 1 EVERTON 1
Dominant but wasteful Chelsea are two points behind leaders Man City after this draw.
Mason Mount cancelled out Jarrad Braithwaite’s Everton opener as the Blues dictated this draw in both possession and chances but failed to find a winner.
    GOAL! CHELSEA 1 EVERTON 1
Jarrad Branthwaite diverted in Anthony Gordon ‘s 73rd minute cross to stun Chelsea with an Everton leveller.
Toffees’ keeper Jordan Pickford then preserved that improbable 1-1 scoreline with a brilliant save from Thiago Silva’s bullet header.
    GOAL! CHELSEA 1 EVERTON 0
Mason Mount finally rewards Chelsea’s pressure – with a counter-attacking opener on 69 minutes.
Reece James fed his England team-mate for a neat near-post finish.
    H/T: LIVERPOOL 2 NEWCASTLE 1
Jonjo Shelvey putting the Toon in front early on only inspired the Reds.
Diogo Jota’s controversial leveller and Mo Salah’s rebound effort rewarded Liverpool’s domination.
    H/T: CHELSEA 0 EVERTON 0
Somehow Chelsea are not in front at the break.
They dictated possession AND chances against a tame Everton side.
Thomas Tuchel’s title chasers had 81% of the ball and 13 attempts on goal – all without scoring.
    GOAL! LIVERPOOL 2 NEWCASTLE 1
Mo Salah sets a Prem record of being involved in a goal for 15 games in a row by slamming home a 25th minute rebound as Liverpool came from behind to lead.
Newcastle scorer Jonjo Shelvey surrendered possession, with Martin Dubravka foiling Sadio Mane’s resulting shot.
But red-hot Salah nipped in to make it 2-1.
RON AND GEORGINA EXPECTING BOY AND GIRL
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez’s unborn twins are a boy and a girl.
The Man United hero and his five-month pregnant partner made their announcement on social media with a fabulous video.
Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez announce they are having a boy and a girl in cute gender reveal
They got their four children to pop balloons which released pink and blue confetti.
The two boys shouted: “It’s a boy” and the two girls: “It’s a girl” after Georgina gave a 1-2-3 countdown and then cheered and laughed as they revealed the sexes of the unborn children.
Cristiano wrote along the footage which the couple posted at exactly the same time: “Where life begins and love never ends” followed by heart emojis.
The video featured their three-year-old daughter Alana Martina and the footballer’s daughter Eva, also three, in pink pijamas to go with the pink confetti in the balloon they burst.
Eva’s twin Matteo and Cristiano’s eldest son Cristiano Jr, nicknamed Cristianinho, were in darker outfits to match the blue confetti that appeared when they burst theirs.
Georgina, 27, exclaimed: “Ole! How lovely!” as she struggled to contain her emotions while the four kids played after revealing the exciting news.

    GOAL! LIVERPOOL 1 NEWCASTLE 1
Diogo Jota cancelled out Newcastle’s shock opener on 21 minutes – in controversial fashion.
Toon midfielder Isaac Hayden was down with a head injury when Sadio Mane crossed for Jota to head goalwards.
Martin Dubravka parried but Reds’ winger Jota knocked home the rebound.
    .
    GOAL! LIVERPOOL 0 NEWCASTLE 1
Jonjo Shelvey fired the Toon in front against his old club with a 25-yarder on seven minutes that got past possibly-unsighted keeper Alisson.
Ibrahima Konate put a free header from a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner wide as Liverpool inevitably, pressed for a leveller.
LUKAKU AND WERNER AMONG CHELSEA ACES WITH COVID
Chelsea have been rocked by a string of big-name positive coronavirus tests in their squad.
Romelu Lukaku, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell missed tonight’s Everton clash due to Covid.
And Kai Havertz was left out while he awaits results.
Left-back Chilwell was still recovering from an ACL injury suffered in their 4-0 win against Juventus in November.
And in March 2020 Hudson-Odoi was one of the first Premier League players to test positive.
    LATEST: LIVERPOOL 0 NEWCASTLE 0
Liverpool need victory from this 8pm game to move a point behind Man City, while Newcastle are second bottom
TONIGHT’S TEAMS – Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Konate, Robertson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago, Henderson, Mane, Salah, Jota
Subs: Kelleher, Pitaluga, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Gomez, Minamino, Tsimikas, Williams.
Newcastle: Dubravka, Manquillo, Schar, Lascelles, Lewis, Hayden, Shelvey, Fraser, Murphy, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton
Subs: Darlow, Clark, Wilson, Ritchie, Hendrick, Almiron, Willock, Gayle, Longstaff
    LATEST: CHELSEA 0 EVERTON 0
With Chelsea needing victory to move one point behind leader Man City, Reece James fired a gaping early chance wide.
And Everton are being cut open at the back as they bid to end their run of poor form.
LIVERPOOL TRIO MISS TOON CLASH WITH COVID
Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones will miss Liverpool’s game against Newcastle on Thursday having tested positive for Covid-19.
The Reds revealed the trio will be absent from the 8pm kick-off and it comes after Jurgen Klopp called for more Prem players to reveal when they have Covid.

A Liverpool statement read: “Fabinho, Curtis Jones and Virgil van Dijk will miss tonight’s Premier League fixture against Newcastle United after registering suspected positive tests for COVID-19.
“The three players are now isolating.
“As a result, the entire Reds’ set-up, including all players and staff, were tested for COVID-19 again today with no further positive cases being detected.
“Supporters attending the game at Anfield are reminded of the new entry requirements and protocols in place to protect public safety.”
Klopp this week urged clubs to ‘be more open’ when it comes to revealing which of their players have coronavirus.
The German gaffer, 54, has spoken of the rise in Covid cases as he declared that his squad are double vaccinated against the deadly bug.
Speaking of the recent crackdown on the rise in positive tests among footballers, he said: “I support new measures, absolutely.
“We get tested every day and before the games, absolutely fine.
“I’m here earlier than most of the players, tested before we arrive and then back to the cars.
“When lateral flows are negative, we are allowed to enter.
“Yesterday we all were and we hope that is the case for today. We are like the whole world, concerned about it, absolutely. We do what we can.”
‘MARTIAL WAGES RULE OUT ARSENAL AND SPURS MOVE’
Anthony Martial’s wages could rule Tottenham, Arsenal and West Ham out of signing the Manchester United target.
That’s the view of ex-Gunners frontman Kevin Campbell after Martial was also linked to a player-exchange deal with Atletico Madrid.
    Credit: Getty
Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley told Sky Sports the France star wants to leave next month.
And Campbell told Football Insider: “There is no doubt about it, he has incredible talent. But he hasn’t played enough football.
“He has suffered with a couple of injuries and a lack of form. I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him lately.
“When you look at the top teams, I’m not sure they’d want him. Arsenal have [Emile] Smith Rowe, [Bukayo] Saka and [Gabriel] Martinelli playing great at the moment. Pepe can’t even get in the team.
“When you look at Spurs, who have Son Heung-min, [Harry] Kane and Lucas Moura, I cannot see him moving there. West Ham? I can’t see that either.
“Those big wages could be a problem.”
    JOSE TARGETS LOFTUS-CHEEK
Jose Mourinho is set to raid Chelsea for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to reports.
And the Roma boss hopes Tammy Abraham can convince the midfielder to move to the Italian capital.

That is according to Il Romanista.
Roma have been pursuing several midfielders including Chelsea flop Saul Niguez – who is on loan from Atletico Madrid – and Bayern ace Corentin Tolisso.
Douglas Luiz and Denis Zakaria are also on the radar but all four are said to be too expensive.
So Mourinho is said to have switched his focus to Loftus-Cheek, 25.
The England international’s characteristics are said to be appealing to the Special One.
His physicality, technique and experience all make him a snip at the price and wages required to pry him away from Stamford Bridge.
And Mourinho is hoping Abraham can help seal the deal.
Both were Blues team-mates in the youth and senior teams.
And with Loftus-Cheek struggling for game time under Thomas Tuchel, now is thought to be the perfect time for an approach.
    GEORGINA SHOWS OFF BABY BUMP
Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodriguez was spotted with her baby bump for the first time this week.
The Portuguese superstar was being filmed by Rodriguez – who is expecting twins – while he was training in the gym following the postponement of Brentford vs Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

Her growing bump can be seen in the mirror reflection behind the 36-year-old.
The couple announced on Instagram at the end of October that they are expecting with the caption reading “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins.
“Out hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you.”
Ronaldo is already a father to four children.
His eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr is 11-years-old and recently joined Manchester United’s academy.
The youngster is set to follow in his father’s footsteps after training with the illustrious academies of Real Madrid and Juventus.

    NOU START FOR AUBAMEYANG?
Barcelona are keen on exiled Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
But the Gabon superstar has previously stated his desire to play for their fierce rivals Real Madrid.

Barca are ‘desperate’ to boost their firepower in January, after Sergio Aguero was forced to retire due to a heart issue.
According to the Independent, Xavi’s side could swoop for Aubameyang, offering him an Arsenal escape route.
But the 32-year-old’s promise to his late grandfather could throw a spanner in the works.
In 2016, Aubameyang told L’Equipe, as per AS: “Before he died two years ago I promised him that one day I would play for Real Madrid.
“My grandfather was from Avila, not far from Madrid.
“It’s what I said to him. I know it’s not easy but it’s something I keep in mind.
“I celebrate my goals with a cartwheel in honour of Hugo Sanchez.
“I’ve seen many videos of him on the internet and I’ve been following him since I was a boy.”

PREM CLUBS VOW TO CARRY ON
Premier League bosses have pledged to plough on with the weekend programme – ignoring calls for a pre-Christmas Covid shutdown.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank began a remarkable day of Prem frenzy by publicly calling on the League to postpone the entire weekend fixture list and urging the EFL to also put the midweek Carabao Cup last eight ties on ice.
Within hours, Spurs’ trip to Leicester last night was called off after the Foxes’ virus outbreak intensified, as was Manchester United’s game with Brighton tomorrow as the Old Trafford side were left with just SEVEN available players.
Norwich manager Dean Smith is also worried about getting a team together for his side’s game at West Ham.
Across the country, a number of top flight executives were privately suggesting that taking a break until Boxing Day might be the best way of providing a firewall against the virus spread.
But the Prem insisted there are no plans to even consider a temporary close down.
In a statement which confirmed “with regret” the second United match postponement of the week, the Prem said: “While recognising a number of clubs are experiencing Covid-19 outbreaks, it is the League’s intention to continue its current fixture schedule where safely possible.
“The health and wellbeing of all concerned remains our priority.”

    Chelsea 1-1 Everton
    Goodnight all from Stamford Bridge.
Stay safe and let’s hope we get some football this weekend.
    Take care.
    Tuchel speaks
Tuchel showed clear frustration after the game. It is the first time that things are looking slightly grizzly in his reign at Chelsea.
He said: “Yes, of course [it is frustrating] to give away another lead. If we see the effort we bring in a match like this, the effort we need to score one goal and the effort the opponent needs to score an equaliser.
    “It is hard to swallow.
“We could have been two or three up and were playing with fire. It is obvious we missed a lot of players, big personalities, regular starters, but we will not use it as an excuse.”
It is hard to swallow.Thomas TuchelBT
    Benitez speaks
Rafa Benitez chatted afterwards about the game plan.
Benitez said: “The game plan is always there and it depends on the players.
“The players, fans all together, the spirit if the Blues as they say, the issues with senior players not available, so we needed spirit, commitment and intensity against a good team. Really pleased and a good point.
“One hundred per cent every single player on the pitch was making a contribution for the game plan.
“At the end everyone was delighted. When players are not playing, the rest of the team are happy for them too.”
Really pleased and a good point.Rafa BenitezBT
Everton’s young squad clinch a point at Stamford Bridge
To Everton and Benitez’s credit, the tactics worked perfectly.
They sat back and held Chelsea, frustrated them and manged to steal an unexpected goal.
They were somehow in the game for the whole 90 minutes, despite allowing Chelsea to have 80 per cent possession of the ball.

    Branthwaite speaks
19-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite scored the equalizer tonight, his first competitive goal for Everton.
He said afterwards: “I can’t put it into words, I am buzzing, playing for this club, it means the world and for the those fans, travelling on a Thursday night to come and watch us, we put on a performance for them and I am buzzing – getting a result at a top team like they are.
“We worked on it in training yesterday, I got a few chances round the back, and I said to Anthony Gordon before the game just to keep delivering those balls in. When it was coming in I was like, right, I better score here.
“When I signed the contract the other day my family said just remember how far you have come – in the space of two years I was playing League Two with Carlisle, the side I joined when I was eight, and now I am playing in the Premier League.”

CHELSEA are reportedly ready to go back in for Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan. The Argentine struck up a partnership with Romelu Lukaku which saw the Nerazzurri win Serie A and would reportedly cost £97.5.
Meanwhile Barcelona are said to have met Erling Haaland’s super-agent Mino Raiola to try engineer a move for the Dortmund star.
A host of Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are said to be keeping tabs on the Norwegian striker.
And City legend Sergio Aguero has given a tearful press conference after being forced to hang up his boots aged just 33.
Aguero is City’s all-time record goalscorer with a total of 260 goals in 390 appearances.

BALE ONE OF SIX REAL ACES WITH COVID
Gareth Bale’s stop-start season continued after he was one of six Real Madrid players to test positive with Covid.
The Wales winger, 32, has only just recovered from a calf injury sustained when he won his 100th cap last month.

Bale has not played for Real since August and must now quarantine as he shakes off the illness.
The news follows a spate of cases at Premier League giants such as Manchester United and Tottenham.
Real revealed Bale’s senior team-mates Luka Modric and Marcelo, along with Marco Asensio, Rodrygo and Andriy Lunin are also positive cases.
And coaching assistant Davide Ancelotti – son of team boss Carlo – has also contracted the virus.
The LaLiga leaders are not due to play until Sunday night when they take on relegation-threatened Cadiz.
    ELANGA LANDS NEW UTD DEAL
Swedish winger Anthony Elanga has landed another long-term Manchester United contract just nine months after his previous one.
The 19-year-old has notched five senior appearances for United and won eight Under-21 caps.
Now the Manchester Evening News say Old Trafford academy product Elanga has been further rewarded for his steady progress through the ranks.

    UEFA WANT ALL PLAYERS VACCINATED
Euro chiefs are urging all players to get vaccinated – but they will NOT force anyone to be jabbed, writes MARTIN LIPTON.
Uefa has launched a video aimed at un-vaxxed players, using doctors to try to persuade them to take the anti-Covid injections.
President Aleksander Ceferin said: “We should promote the vaccinations and we will.
“I believe in science, and I got vaccinated. I think they should get vaccinated, as soon as possible.
“But I still believe it’s a personal choice. We don’t have the power to force anyone to be vaccinated.
“In the video, we have doctors explaining why the vaccine is good, that the side effects are very rare and going through the figures and facts.
“We have to be smart and explain things.
“People are not stupid – when you explain in a nice way, not judging them, but to explain why vaccination is good.
“The facts are that vaccinated people are less likely to get infected and less likely to have the strong effects of Covid if they are infected.
“I think that, sooner or later, if not all, then the vast majority of players will understand it.”
    HENDERSON LINKED TO AJAX
Dean Henderson could leave Manchester United next month amid links to Ajax.
The England international is desperate for minutes as he sits below David De Gea in the United pecking order.

And the 24-year-old is reportedly wanted by Dutch giants Ajax, who are prepared to move for him next month.
The keeper is yet to cause a stir at Old Trafford but has made just two appearances this season – and none in the Premier League.
He had more of a chance last term as he vied with De Gea as United’s first-choice stopper.
But opportunities for first-team football have now dried up as the Spaniard reaffirms himself as No.1.
Reports suggest there has been no contact between Henderson and Ajax, but the Eredivisie champs have spoken to United about a possible loan.
However, new boss Ralf Rangnick is thought to be reluctant to lose the player before he has had a chance to work with him.
Ajax supremo and United legend Edwin van der Sar is a big admirer of the United academy graduate.
UTD COACH MCKENNA IN TALKS TO BOSS IPSWICH
Manchester United first team coach Kieran McKenna is reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ with Ipswich Town about becoming the club’s new manager.
The 35-year-old looks set to replace former boss Paul Cook who was sacked after nine months in charge following a poor run of form.

Northern Irishman McKenna has worked under Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.
And he has remained a part of the backroom staff following the arrival of Ralf Rangnick last month.
But now, according to Sky Sports, he looks set to depart for his first managerial role at League One outfit Ipswich.
The Tractor Boys currently sit 12th in the table with just seven victories from their opening 22 games of the season.
Ipswich were relegated from the Championship at the end of the 2018-19 campaign after finishing bottom of the table with just 31 points.
They came 11th last season after manager Cook took over from Paul Lambert.
AUBAMEYANG COULD BE REAL DEAL FOR BARCA

AUBA SET FOR A TUCH OF ADVICE
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says he will contact Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he was stripped of the captain’s armband by boss Mikel Arteta.
Tuchel, who worked with Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund, said after being asked whether he is planning to get in contact with the player: “I will at some point.
“I feel sorry that he is in trouble.
“I believe in his positive character but I am not involved in this situation or his club. It is just about my picture and relationship”
    MAN UTD VS BRIGHTON POSTPONED
Manchester United’s Premier League match with Brighton at home has been postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Red Devils’ camp.
United released the following statement: “Manchester United can confirm that our Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, scheduled for Saturday 18 December at 12:30 GMT, has been postponed and will be rescheduled in due course.
“The health of players and staff is our priority. Given the number of players and support staff having to isolate due to COVID-19, the club had no option other than to request the match be rearranged. The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone based on guidance from medical advisors.
“We will also suspend football training operations at the Carrington Training Complex for a short period to help reduce risk of further transmission.
“We regret any disappointment and inconvenience caused to fans by the postponement”
    WANTED VAN
Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford next summer when his contract expires.
That is according to Tuttosport, who are claiming Juventus have joined the transfer war for Cavani.
Barcelona and Corinthians are also said to be keeping tabs on the centre-forward.
Juve see the Uruguay international as the perfect partner for Paulo Dybala in attack

    MORE COVID CASES
At least four Chelsea players have tested positive for coronavirus ahead of tonight’s Premier League match with Everton.
That is according to Football London, who claim the Blues’ players are undertaking daily lateral flow tests before entering Cobham’s training ground.
Those who tested positive were told to self-isolate at home as they awaited the PCR results.
There is currently no indication the west Londoners’ game will be postponed.
Chelsea’s positive tests come shortly after their Carabao Cup quarter-final opponents Brentford recorded 13 new Covid-19 cases
    TRANSFER WARNING
Liverpool legend John Barnes has warned his former club to avoid making January signings just “for the sake of it” even though they are likely to lose Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane should Copa Africa go ahead.
Barnes told BonusCodeBets: “Liverpool’s injury situation last year was unique. It was mostly the defenders who were injured. That in turn, messed up the midfield because [Jordan] Henderson and Fabinho had to fill in at the back, but they don’t have that problem anymore.
“There’s no point buying players for the sake of it and Jurgen Klopp doesn’t want to do that, unless they can get a player like Diogo Jota who can come in and challenge for a starting place. Liverpool have faith in their squad to cope when the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane go to the African Cup of Nations.
“If someone is available who adds to the squad then Liverpool should move for them, but no team will get a superstar player this January.
“If an injury crisis arises, Liverpool will look at players they can bring in but without spending a lot of money”
    AUBA SWAP
Arsenal are considering a swap deal with Barcelona involving the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele.
That is according to The Independent, who claim that discussions have taken place through intermediaries regarding the exchange.
Barcelona are said to be interested in the striker, whose future at the Emirates looks uncertain after falling out of favour.
This comes after Gunners boss Mikel Arteta stripped him of the captain’s armband due to a disciplinary breach
    RUDIGER SPEAKS OUT
Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger admits Thomas Tuchel played a key part in his decision to stay last summer.
Rudiger told Sky Sports: “He opened a new door, I would say it like that.
“At the end of the day, to save my career. You can go somewhere else and your career starts also new.
“To end your career, this is a bit too much. He was definitely important, he played a big role”

    WOOD HE?
Manchester United wonderkid Mason Greenwood has been linked with a sensational exit from Old Trafford.
That is according to Elnacional, who report that Arsenal, Juventus and Barcelona are keeping tabs on Greenwood.
The north Londoners may need to add a centre-forward to their ranks next summer with both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has fallen out of favour.
Arsenal, Juve and Barca won’t ‘hesitate’ to make an offer for the England international should he decide to go
    LEICESTER VS TOTTENHAM POSTPONED
Leicester were scheduled to host Tottenham at the King Power Stadium tonight.
However, the Premier League match has been postponed due to COVID-19 outbreaks.
This marks the third consecutive postponement involving Spurs, after their Europa Conference League match against Rennes and last weekend’s Prem game with Brighton were also called off.
A total of eight players and five members of staff tested positive for coronavirus within the north Londoners’ ranks.
Leicester are also dealing with a crisis themselves, with manager Brendan Rodgers previously stating that he is “disappointed” the Premier League had rejected a request to postpone their upcoming fixture
    PERFECT KAC
Liverpool are considering a £10million bid for Pogon Szczecin star Kacper Kozlowski.
That is according to Polish outlet Super Express, who claim Kozlowski is in the Reds’ radar.
It was recently claimed that Brighton are also in the running for the midfielder and are offering £8m.
However, the Merseysiders are looking to outbid the Seagulls for the Poland international
    VLAHOVIC BLOW
Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic prefers to join a club with the ability to challenge in the Champions League.
That is according to Eurosport, who claim Vlahovic may not be keen to move to the Emirates or Old Trafford in the summer.
It’s been five years since Arsenal made it to the Champions League, which means they have an uphill battle ahead of them in their bid to sign the striker.
And Manchester United are sixth in the Premier League table following a poor start to the season

    ZAK ATTACK
Borussia Monchengladbach ace and Liverpool transfer target Denis Zakaria could be available for just £6million during the January transfer window.
That is according to Sport Bild, who claim that Gladbach have decided to offload Zakaria next month.
That is in order to avoid having the midfielder run down his contract and leave for free in the summer.
The Switzerland international has been linked with a move to the Reds in recent weeks
    SUL THING
Chelsea are keeping tabs on Bayern Munich ace Niklas Sule as Antonio Rudiger’s poitential replacement.
Rudiger’s contract with the Blues runs out in June and he has has yet to agree to fresh terms.
According to Football London, the west Londoners are keeping tabs on Sule, who is in a similar situation to Rudiger.
With his contract coming to an end in June 2022 – like his compatriot – the defender is permitted to talk to foreign clubs about a pre-contract agreement as early as January.
Reports in November suggested that he’d re-opened talks with Bayern over a new deal, but nothing has materialised
    PREM-DEMIC
Here is exactly what is going on with the Covid-19 crisis in British football:
Burnley’s match against Watford was called off last night less than three hours before kick-off following an outbreak in the Hornets’ squad.
Three Championship games scheduled for Saturday — Reading vs Luton, Millwall against Preston and Swansea’s trip to QPR — have already been postponed as well.
And there are serious fears this could wipe out the festive programme, leaving the sport in crisis
    BRIGHTON FIXTURE
Manchester United are expected to face Brighton on Saturday at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
However, United have been stricken by a coronavirus outbreak and reports suggest there has been a total of 19 cases between players and staff.
The Red Devils are keeping the Premier League informed over the status of their squad after they returned to practice at Carrington yesterday.
The Manchester giants remain in regular dialogue with the league after Tuesday’s match with Brentford was postponed.
Thus, the fixture with Brighton could also be called off as sources don’t expect the situation within Ralf Rangnick’s squad to have improved by then

    ‘TOTAL WAR’
Barcelona are keeping tabs on Arsenal ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
That is according to Sport, who report that Aubameyang is in Barca’s ‘orbit’ ahead of the January transfer window.
The report adds that the striker is in ‘total war’ with the Gunners and could leave in the coming months.
This comes after the Gabon international was stripped of the captain’s armband after another disciplinary breach
    ‘ONLY SERIOUS BIDDER’
Manchester United are the ‘only’ serious bidder for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.
That is according to SportBild, who report that United are strong candidates for Haaland’s signature compared to other hitters, but will first have to seal Champions League qualification.
Chelsea have already landed Romelu Lukaku, while Real Madrid’s priority is to sign Kylian Mbappe.
Haaland could replace Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain but a transfer to Paris ‘would only be an alternative’ for him.
Manchester City were keen on signing Harry Kane in the summer and the Tottenham star remains a ‘dream’ target for Pep Guardiola.
Bayern Munich won’t be considered as long as Robert Lewandowski is still leading the attack, while Barcelona are still struggling financially
    GETTING IN TUCH
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says he will contact Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he was stripped of the captain’s armband by boss Mikel Arteta.
Tuchel, who worked with Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund, said after being asked whether he is planning to get in contact with the player: “I will at some point.
“I feel sorry that he is in trouble.
“I believe in his positive character but I am not involved in this situation or his club. It is just about my picture and relationship”
    FELIX BLOW
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has dismissed rumours suggesting Joao Felix leaving.
That poses as a transfer blow for both Arsenal and Manchester United.
Cerezo told Mundo Deportivo: “He is a magnificent player.
“I think he does not want to go. For us he is non-transferable. We bet on him as in his day we bet with Sergio Aguero”
