Full Time – Egypt 1-0 Sudan
Sudan had good spells throughout the game, but the Egypt defence barely let them see a chance on goal.
It was clear to see their tactics throughout the first half – which mainly involved man-marking Salah to keep him quiet, but this meant that the likes of Mostafa Mohamed and Amr Al-Sulaya were left free to cause havoc for the defence.

    65. Egypt 1-0 Sudan

The midfielder strikes with his first touch but his effort is off target.
    60. Egypt 1-0 Sudan

CHELSEA have fallen further behind leaders Manchester City after being pegged back by Brighton in a 1-1 draw.Hakim Ziyech had put the Blues ahead in the first half with a long-range rocket, before Adam Webster equalised for the Seagulls with a booming header from a corner on the hour mark.
The result leaves Chelsea 12 points below City in third place.

    ‘Chelsea are struggling’
Brighton’s star man Adam Webster says his team knew the Blues were arriving at the Amex in a funk.
The defender says: “Chelsea are struggling a bit, we sensed that. We felt we could have got all three points but in the end are happy with the draw.
“When you come up against Chelsea you have got to be on top of your game. The gaffer sets us up with such clarity on how we are going to attack the game and it makes a big difference for us.”
    Pot high on life.
The beaming Brighton boss says: “It was a performance I really enjoyed. The boys could feel it was a really good performance from us.
“Apart feom making their goalkeeper work more, we had everything.
“They were brilliant and have been all season. Great atmosphere. The fans appreciated the game. We didn’t sit back, we had to be positive.
2Chelsea are a fantastic side. We were up against it but I’m happy with what we have done.
“We have a nice squad, good togetherness and we are happy. The back four was sensational. They defended with great courage. It’s an art to defend the way they have done.”
Misery Ziyeched all over his face
Thomas Tuchel does not care if goal-scoring midfielder Hakim Ziyech never celebrates another finish.
The playmaker sulked after putting his team ahead.
But the Blues boss isn’t bothered by the strop.
He said: “At the moment it is difficult to be too harsh on our players as I know what is going on.
“I am happy. He can score 20 more and not celebrate I have no problem.
“Even in the reaction for the goal you can see they are tired. It is relief. That is my feeling of the team just now.”
    Tuchin cloth
Thomas Tuchel has not been through a sticky patch like this for a long time.
The last time a team managed by the German went winless in four successive top flight games was in October 2016.
His old Borussia Dortmund side went 0-3-1.
    Luk how easy it was
Webster adds that he and centre-back partner Dan Burn ENJOYED playing against Chelsea and Belgium superstar Romelu Lukaku.
The Englishman said: “We like the physical battles.
“Romelu Lukaku is a world-class player.
“I’d never played against him before so it was a challenge but we showed we could deal with him.”
    Adam and Eve it
Goalscoring defender Adam Webster says: “I think we were the better team for most of the game.
“For 70-75 minutes we were the dominant team and on another day we get three points.
“It was about time I scored because I missed a couple at the weekend that I was disappointed with.
“The whole squad contributed tonight and we still have players out with injury so it shows we have strength in depth.”
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
    All over
Chelsea wasted a couple of corners and chances at the death.
Brighton secure another draw and Chelsea continue to lose ground on the title.
Chelsea’s blip is turning into a recurring nightmare.
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
91 Four minutes of injury time now.
Brighton continue to press and probe before Maupay takes too many touches so his shot is blocked.
Chelsea head and hack away a couple of corners and crosses.
Cucurella continues to be brilliant in defence and attack.
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
88 It’s basketball stuff as both sides take turns in sprinting from end-to-end on the counter.
    No genuine chances, though.
Trossard and Maupay cannot unlock the visiting defence and Brighton are too compact to be breached.
Kovacic blasts over when a corner is cleared into his path.
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
85 Brighton blame the ref for their attack breaking down.
Chelsea cry for a penalty that is ignored after Havertz throws himself to the floor very roughly.
The Blues are pouring forward now and Brighton are hanging on.
Lamptey is already being missed as an out-ball.
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
79 Tariq Lamptey is subbed for Solly March.
Then Dan Burn gets booked fo a clumsy and forceful foul.
Tuchel makes the chancges while we wait for the free-kick; Lukaku, Jorginho and Ziyech an all hooked for Werner, Kovacic and Havertz.
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
    69 Double agony.
Neal Maupay misses a fine chance after Lamptey crosses for him and the ball gets stuck under his feet.
And a second delivery goes begging when it floats across his face and drifts out for a goal-kick.
Two chances in rapid succession wasted by Maupay
Welbeck missed a couple first and now his replacement has matched him.
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
66 Alonso booms a long drive over the bar.
But Brighton do keep giving possession and chances away by playing out from the back.
When it works it is genius but if it fails it looks ridiculous.
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
63 That equaliser sparks Seagulls manger Graham Potter into action.
Welbeck and Pascal Gross exit with their side now level.
Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard get sent on to get the home side the winner.
    Brighton 1 Chelsea 1
59 Webster thumps a header home!
Alonso booked for a cinical foul after Lamptey races away from him.
Then Kepa has to save after Mac Allister connects with a cross.
And Webster thumps home the corner with a bullet of a free header – poor defending from Chelsea.
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
56 Only the bottom three and Wolves have scored fewer goals than Brighton.
But Potter has known all about this problem for a season at least.
Who knows what this impressive side could achieve with a deadly marksman leading the charge.
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
Brighton will feel sick when the look back on these two missed opportunities.
They had the first real chance of the game but missed and let Chelsea score soon after.
And they were gifted a sitter as soon as the second half started and Welbeck blew it again.
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
47 Welbeck shanks another left-foot chance.
A sweeping move leaves the forward one-on-one with Kepa but his weaker foot lets him down again.
The shot is sliced and slammed high and wide.
You need to take these chances against the top sides.
    Credit where it’s due
Ex-Brighton boss Chris Hughton reckons his old side has been great so far.
He said: “The game is a reflection of where both teams are at the moment.
“Brighton have been excellent but the better chances have fallen to Chelsea.
“The fact Brighton are still in the game is right because they have been excellent.”
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
Chelsea hero Joe Cole sums the difference up between the two sides; quality.
In almost every other instance the sides have been evenly matched.
But Brighton missed their best chance and Chelsea scored a goal from almost nothing.
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
    Half time
Thomas Tuchel’s side reach the interval a goal ahead.
Welbeck will feel very guilty because of the speed with which Chelsea scored after his gilt-edged chance was fluffed.
But Brighton are masters of the late goal so will not lose hope.
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
45 Brighton remain impressive as a team – with Lamptey and Cucurella able to destroy and create.
But – in those two crucial moments at either end – Chelsea showed their class and Brighton’s infamous shortcoming was exposed again.
Hudson Odoi blasts over after a Lukaku pass before Brighton race away to earn a corner.
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
38 Brighton keep huffing and puffing but Chelsea’s defence is made of Antonio Rudiger.
Surely the Blues will buckle and pay whatever insane wage he wants at the end of this season when his contract expires?
There is a queue of clubs to snap him up otherwise.
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
36 Same old story for Brighton; lots of solid defending and clever attacks but not enough cutting edge in front of goal.
Welbeck had to do better from a couple of yards – even on his weaker foot.
Fine margins look like costing the Seagulls tonight.
    Brighton 0 Chelsea 1
32 Brighton will be gutted because they created a better chance seconds earlier.
Welbeck made a hash of a left foot shot from close-range.
Ziyech then had no right to score from 25 yards but fired past a stranded Sanchez.
    Ruthless from the visiting Blues.

    Cape Verde 0-0 Cameroon
5 The two teams are rather evenly-matched in the opening few minutes.
That’s a big deal for Cape Verde as they have been badly hit from coronavirus with their manager Bubista forced to self-isolate at home.
His assistant Humberto Bettencourt has taken charge in the dugout today
    GETTY IMAGES
    Cape Verde 0-0 Cameroon
    2 And another quick reminder:
Cape Verde manager Bubista appears to have opted for a 3-4-2-1 formation with Vozinha starting between the sticks and Diney Borges, Roberto Lopes as well as captain Stopira in defence.
Jeffry Fortes plays at right wing-back with Dylan Tavares on the other side, while Patrick Andrade and Kenny Santos link up in midfield.
Lisandro Semedo and Jamiro Monteiro play behind centre-forward Willi Semedo
    Cape Verde 0-0 Cameroon
    1 Just a quick reminder:
Cameroon manager Toni Conceicao appears to have picked a 4-1-4-1 formation with Andre Onana starting in goal.
Collins Fai starts at right-back with Nouhou Tolo on the other side, while Harold Moukoudi and Michael Ngadeu team up at centre-back.
Samuel Oum Gouet plays as a holding midfielder behind the pair of Pierre Kunde and Andre Anguissa, while Nicolas Ngamaleu and Karl Toko Ekambi cover the right and left wing respectively.
Captain Vincent Aboubakar leads the attack, just as expected
    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
AND OFF WE GO IN CAMEROON!!!!!
    Here come the teams!
The Paul Biya Stadium is set to host the Africa Cup of Nations clash between hosts Cameroon and Cape Verde.
Stopira leads Cape Verde out to the pitch whereas Andre Onana dons his nation’s armband.
The two teams line up for the national anthems and then it’s game time!
    Not long to go now…!
    GETTY IMAGES
    FAST KAR
Cameroon star Vincent Aboubakar is the Africa Cup of Nations’ leading goalscorer.
Aboubakar has netted a total of four goals in two matches so far with braces against Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
That’s two goals more than Wahbi Khazri, Gabadinho Mango, team-mate Karl Toko Ekambi and Ibrahima Kone.
The Al-Nassr star poses as the most dangerous player on the pitch today
    GETTY IMAGES
    Cape Verde stats
Cape Verde are third in Group A with the same points as second-placed Burkina Faso.
Bubista’s men defeated Ethiopia in their group opener and then lost to Burkina Faso.
A victory would seal qualification as long as Burkina Faso don’t win as well.
If both teams fail to emerge victorious then the Blue Sharks will have to better the latter’s result.
But even if Cape Verde finish third, then they can still hope to qualify for the Round of 16

    Cameroon stats
Cameroon are already through to the Africa Cup of Nations’ Last 16.
The Copa Africa hosts top Group A with six points, which is three more than second-placed Burkina Faso.
Toni Conceicao’s men have won both of their first two matches against Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
Cameroon have also netted six goals, four of which are from the competition’s leading scorer Vincent Aboubakar

Al-Nassr star Vincent Aboubakar has been on fire as he scored a brace in each of his national team’s outings and is expected to lead the line once more.
There’s a high chance Aboubakar will team up with Lyon’s Karl Toko Ekambi up front for their final match in the group stage.
Conceicao has a number of experienced players at his disposal, such as Bayern Munich star Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as well as Middlesbrough ace James Lea Siliki.
Cape Verde manager Bubista, on the other hand, is expected to maintain Vozinha between the sticks after his return from injury against Burkina Faso last time out.
However, the African nation could make a slight tweak up front as Al-Faisaly ace Julio Tavares was in some discomfort following their most recent encounter on Thursday

Played for a host of clubs including QPR, Cardiff City, Liverpool and Tottenham.
Caulker was even capped once by England at full-international.
    Day of rest
When it comes to group formats, getting your business done with games to spare is a big advantage.
The potential for Ivory Coast to be able to rest key players in their next game with a win today against Sierra Leone is huge.
It would make them a real threat to face in the next round.
    Two-time champions
‘Les Elephants’ have won the tournament twice, in 1992 and 2015.
Both times they played Ghana, both times it ended 0-0 AET.
The finals were decided 11-10 and 9-8 on penalties.
    A tale of two pens
In Group F, Gambia have drawn with Mali 1-1.
Both goals came from the penalty spot in a frantic last eleven minutes.
It leaves both sides tied at the top on four points.
    Third time is the charm
Appearing in their third AFCON tournament, Sierra Leone frustrated the defending champions Algeria in their opening game.
The ‘Leone Stars’ have never progressed passed the group phase.
A win today and Sierra Leone will go into their final group game against Equatorial Guinea knowing what they need to do to progress.
    Coasting it
Ivory Coast could seal qualification with a win today.
Having played Sierra Leone seven times before, ‘Les Elephants’ have won six of these encounters, the other being a goalless draw.
    Welcome back AFCON fans
The tournament heats up with every game now with teams able to book their place in the knockout phase.
You can still change your fortunes after a disappointing opening game as Egypt showed us yesterday thanks to a Mohammed Salah goal.
Today, our focus is Ivory Coast vs Sierra Leone

ASTON VILLA stunned Man Utd to fight back from two goals down and earn a thrilling draw. Bruno Fernandes was gifted the opener as Emi Martinez let a weak shot go through his legs, before the Portuguese playmaker smashed in off the bar in the second half.
Steven Gerrard gambled and brought on his new star man in Philippe Coutinho – and the former Liverpool forward was instrumental in the comeback.
Jacob Ramsey thundered in a leveller before Coutinho took control of the game, lashing in from close range to send Villa Park wild.

    Stevie pleased as punch
On landing his old Liverpool team-mate Philippe Coutinho, Gerrard was impressed and expects more to come soon.
He said: “It is a good start.
“We’ve brought a quality footballer to the club.
“We need to get him up to speed in terms of his match sharpness.”
    Comeback kings
Gerrard loved how academy graduate Jacob ramsey inspired his side’s draw.
He said: “The two goals we scored were fantastic.
“The substitutions really brought something to the game, but second half, I thought JJ was outstanding.
“He really showed why a lot of people are talking about him right now.
“At 2-0 down, a young kid, a homegrown lad to go and take the game by the scruff of the neck was really pleasing.”
    Half-time truths
Steven Gerrard made some serious statements at half time to his team.
He said: “The first goal was coming because we didn’t look right in that time. We improved slightly but certainly deserved to be trailing at the break.
“I had to tell a few home truths and the reaction was fantastic.
“We conceded against the run of play but didn’t feel sorry for ourselves, we continued to show character and believe.
“I’ve got no problem with people making mistakes because they are making mistakes trying to do the right things, but what I can’t accept is the first 25 minutes and how we played.”
    Rang the changes
Ralf says: “Everyone in the team is disappointed because it is about getting results
“This does not feel like a point won, it felt like two given away”.
Keane says: “I think United might have taken an away draw before the game but, at 2-0 up, you will be disappointed.”
    Ralf right down the line
Rangnick says: “We are extremely frustrated, it is hard to find positives. It felt like the best game since I came here, in the first 30 minutes.
“But there are are still lots we need to do better. e need to keep the impetus up and do better as a team.
“The plan was to press them in the mid-zone and we did that well.
“But it is hard to defend them all the time and we needed to do it better than in the lats 15 minutes. It feels like a defeat to be honest.”
    Keane backing
Roy happy with the stand-in Man United captain.
Keane said “He scored two goals and showed composure, I liked a lot about his game.
“We can analyse a lot and he does a lot more good than bad.
“He can go back on the bus thnking ‘I have scored two goals and that is pretty good'”.
    Firm Fernandes
He adds: “The performance was better than the result, we controlled more of the game.
“But the point is winning games. We deserved more but the game is not about what you deserve, it is about what you get.
“We have a lot to improve on, even if the performance was good.”
    Frank Bruno
Fernandes says: “I think we had the perfect position to score more goals but then we did not take our chances.
“At the end we gave chances to them and they took them and they scored and drew.
“It is a tough one to take because it felt like the game was under control.”
    Count me in
Coutinho has endured some tough times at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
But he reckons he is ready for the fight with Aston Villa and old team-mate Steven Gerrard.
He said: “There have been many ups and downs but that was in the past.
“I’m here to focus on the objective of the club, the manager and I want to do a good job to help my team-mates and the club.”
    Roy of the Rovers
Roy Keane was happy with Bruno Fernandes’ second goal.
He said: “It was poor play from Villa but credit to United for punishing them.
“Mings should have come out and taken Fred out.
“But take nothing away from United and Fernandes, it was all about the first touch and then the finish.”
    Keane on that
The no-nonsense Old Trafford legend says: “United were not quite at it, Cavani was poor and I was surprised he was left on for the whole game.
“It shows their shortcomings, the table does not lie.
“There are qualities but there are also weaknessses. United looked tired, a bit weak, the subs worked for Villa.”
    Rambo saves the day
Jacob Ramsey is living every young footballer’s dream.
The youngster said: “I have scored three goals in the Prem now but the first couple were away.
“Coming through this academy and having the crowd singing your name is what dreams are made of.”
    I was nervous
Villa’s super-signing reckons he was anxious before coming on to star.
Coutinho said: “I missed these games and the Premier League.
“I am very happy to be here and meet my new team-mates
It was a good start a good game, we kept believing we could win.
“We didn’t lose and we move on. I was a little bit nervous. I don’t speak English very well, I prefer to play than talk.”
    Change the record
That result makes grim reading for Man United fans.
Manchester United failed to win a Premier League away game in which they led by 2+ goals for the first time since January 2016.
    Villa 2 Man United 2
    95 All over.
Ashley Young was stripped off and ready to replace Buendia but the playmaker recovers.
Van De Beek carves out a late chance for himself but Villa block and concede a corner.
    Hause heads away the outswinger.
Martinez claims the next cross and Villa get the draw!
    Villa 2 Man United 2
90 Coutinho twists and turns, Buendia teases the United defence.
Villa are forced back but they keep the ball.
Buendia is hurt now, on the floor clutching his face after a heavy Matic challenge.
    Villa 2 Man United 2
89 Greenwood and Fernandes hooked now for Lingard and van de Beek.
Fred is penalised for a high tackle.
Villa keep surging forward with their home crowd behind them.
    Villa 2 Man United 2
87 Coutinho has another shot on target.
Ramsey accidentally gets in his team-mate’s away.
Somehow there were no United players in sight to challenge the ex-Liverpool man so his new colleague did.
    Villa 2 Man United 2
86 Villa could win this, with the momentum and buzz around the team and ground now.
United lose the ball again in the midfield and Villa try to pounce.
Watkins works hard but loses the ball but Villa keep on the front foot.
Buendia and Coutinho look like they are going to terrorise teams.
    Villa 2 Man United 2
83 Buendia carved United apart with his ball from midfield.
Ramsey raced to the byline with skill and power.
And when he rolled it across the box the brilliant little playmaker was there to be the fox-in-the-box.
    Villa 2 Man United 2
82 Amazing comeback for Villa as Countinho scores on his debut.
Brilliant from Buendia, class from Ramsey and Coutinho pokes home.
    Villa 1 Man United 2
79 That is the least Villa deserve after all their chances and Ramsey has been a regular threat.
Coutinho had only been on the pitch a couple of minutes but he had no direct involvement.
Jadon Sancho is on the pitch no and his form has done nothing to suggest he will help his side cling on.
    Villa 1 Man United 2
77 Ramsey smashes in a screamer!
Matty Cash races down the right wing and whips in a cross but Villa cannot convert.
The home side rebuilds and Fred accidentally tees up Ramsey to smash home from inside the box.
    Villa 0 Man United 2
72 Bruno Fernandes has not played that well but he has two goals and the game in his grasp.
Villa have looked impressive in large spells but have nothing to show for it.
    It’s a cruel, cruel game.
De Gea boots away a Villa shot before a ballooned cross goes out for a United goal-kick.
    Villa 0 Man United 2
70 Fuming Sanson boots a couple of water bottles into the stand after getting hooked.
It was getting dragged for Coutinho that enraged him but the terrible error he produced to gift Man United their second goal.
*No water bottles were harmed in this mindless attack.
