ROMAN ABRAMOVICH has had his assets FROZEN by the European Union, a week after the UK government did the same. The Chelsea owner has come under intense scrutiny for his financial involvement in Russia, who are currently at war with Ukraine.
The Blues will be allowed to finish the season whether they are sold or not.
And Thomas Tuchel will remain with the club until then, but has refused to give any commitment beyond the summer.
Meanwhile it has been reported that Roman Abramovich has given the green light to a sale of Chelsea with bids to be taken next week.

Bernardo says City still in pole position
Bernardo Silva claimed City are still in a better position than Liverpool – despite giving their rivals a way back into the title race, writes CHARLIE WYETT.
After City’s stalemate at Selhurst Park, Jurgen Klopp’s team can move within a point of the top if they win at Arsenal tomorrow.
Silva , whose team entertain the Reds on April 10, said: “We should have scored but we didn’t. So yes, a very frustrating game but it is still a long way to go – nine games.
“We’re still in a good position. It’s still better to be in our position than Liverpool. They still have to play in our stadium as well. So yes, it’s going to be exciting.
“We actually controlled the game well apart from one or two times that we lost possession and the counter attacks they didn’t create much.”
Boss Pep Guardiola said: “We were 14 points ahead and they had two games less. They have one now. I said many times that there are many games to play. We have to win games.
“We had our chances, we couldn’t convert them but sometimes it happens.
“There are nine more games to play. I know we have to win a lot of games but there are no regrets in the way we played and with the team.
“It was an amazing performance in a difficult stadium with the grass not perfect and we were there all the time. We had a good game.”
Man City target Haaland tipped for Spain
Manchester City still face a battle for Erling Haaland as Real Madrid and Barcelona believe he prefers a move to Spain.
Pep Guardiola’s champs want to do a deal this summer to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker, who has a £64million release clause in his contract.
That puts City in pole position as their major rivals Madrid and Barca would rather wait for at least another 12 months.

Both the LaLiga giants are convinced Spain is the 21-year-old’s preference at this stage of his career.
City are likely to tell him his dream of playing in Spain — where he already owns a property — can still be realised in a few years’ time.
Haaland’s dad Alf-Inge, who played for City from 2000-03, is happy for him to follow in his footsteps.
Dortmund plan to have one last go at trying to talk Haaland into staying for another 12 months, by making him the best-paid player in their history.
That would play into Real’s hands as they want to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG this summer.
EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea could lose next generation
Chelsea faces losing its next generation of stars unless the Government changes its mind on signing new contracts.
Several of the club’s brightest talents emerging from the academy are up for new deals and face an uncertain future under the current terms of the operating license.
UK Government sanctions placed upon Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic prohibit the signing of new players and also negotiations to keep existing ones.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is not only concerned about the effects on the first team but right down the pyramid at Stamford Bridge.
England Under-17 World Cup winner George McEachran is a budding talent whose contract is about to expire having been at Chelsea since the age of eight. Teenage midfielder Xavier Simons is one of the most highly-rated in the U-23 squad and is also due to hold contract talks soon.
A Blues insider told SunSport: “Everyone is focussed on the players in the first team who are out of contract but the ones we feel really sorry for are the youngsters.
“Now is the time when the boys start talking about new contracts with the club and everyone is in the dark. They are the ones coming through and if Chelsea are not allowed to sign new contracts with them it’s a huge blow to both parties.”
    Carragher blasts ‘hypocritical’ Chelsea fans
Jamie Carragher has BLASTED Chelsea fans for being hypocrites while criticising the club’s bullying approach throughout Roman Abramovich’s reign.
The Liverpool legend was defending himself after being criticised for suggesting Manchester United should try to poach Thomas Tuchel given the Blues’ troubling situation.
🗣 “It’s a little bit hypocritical of Chelsea supporters.”@Carra23 discusses the recent backlash he has received over comments he made at Stamford Bridge, urging #MUFC to try and bring Thomas Tuchel to Old Trafford following sanctions placed on Chelsea. pic.twitter.com/XM7qIrlIeK— Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) March 14, 2022

Carragher revealed he had a few “heated discussions” with Chelsea fans outside Stamford Bridge following their win over Newcastle. But he has stood by his initial statement, suggesting Chelsea have acted in exactly that manner for the previous 19 years.
Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football: “The reason why I think it is a little hypocritical of Chelsea supporters is that if teams, whether that’s Manchester United with the manager, or people thinking they can get Chelsea players by taking advantage of the situation they’re in – Chelsea have been doing it for 20 years.
“We can throw our money about and we can get who we want.
“We’ll go and get Peter Kenyon [former United CEO]. We’ll go to Liverpool and destabilise that club for two summers [trying to sign Steven Gerrard].
“We’ll get Ashley Cole, Invincible, won everything at Arsenal. We’ll get caught tapping up, doesn’t matter we’ll pay the fine.
“They win the Youth Cup every year or they get in the final, not because they’ve got the best coaches or the best academy – because they’ve gone and taken the best players from every club within the country.

Government fans blast Chelsea fans’ pro-Roman chants
Chelsea fans have been ordered to STOP chanting their support of Roman Abramovich – with the UK Government calling it ‘completely inappropriate’.
Blues fans showed their backing for the Russian billionaire during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge with chants and banners.
But Boris Johnson’s official spokesperson has slammed the behaviour amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister said: “We recognise the strength of feeling around people’s clubs…
“But that does not excuse behaviour which is completely inappropriate at this time.
“I think people can show passion and support for their club without resorting to that sort of stuff.”
Abramovich put Chelsea up for sale earlier this month – much to fans’ dismay.
The oligarch slapped a £3billion price-tag on the club but was quickly slapped with sanctions over his relationship with Vladimir Putin – who ordered the invasion of neighbouring Ukraine.

Barca ruled out of Haaland race
Barcelona have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Erling Haaland with the crisis club told they are £120MILLION over their spending limit, writes DAVE FRASER.
LaLiga announced new spending limits for all 20 top-flight clubs on Monday.

And Barca have been told they must make FOUR TIMES as much on player sales and wage cuts than they’re allowed to spend in a huge blow to their summer plans.
The financially-strapped giants have been told they are £121m over the permitted limit – the only club to be red, with rivals Real Madrid allowed to spend up to £622m – a massive £743m difference.
Under LaLiga’s financial fair play rules, clubs over the limit must obey the 1:4 ratio to all transactions – meaning they must make four times what they spend.
For example, should they spend £63m on Haaland – his rumoured release fee – they would have to make a staggering £252m first.

Abramovich faces new ‘corrupt deals’ claim
More murky details about the deals behind Roman Abramovich’s fortune have been uncovered, BBC’s Panorama team will claim at 8pm tonight.
The Beeb say their investigation has ‘uncovered new evidence about corrupt deals’ as Abramovich became a Russian oligarch.
The billionaire has had his assets frozen and is banned from being a Premier League director due to his links with Vladimir Putin.
His wealth came from buying an oil firm off the Russian government in a rigged auction in 1995.
He paid about £190million for Sibneft but sold it back to the Russian government for around £10nb in 2005.
Abramovich’s lawyers deny there was any criminality.

Roman Abramovich’s Dirty Money is on BBC1 at 8pm and then on the BBCiPlayer.

Utd linked with summer bid for Kane
Manchester United are plotting a summer move for Harry Kane, according to reports.
Kane, 28, is open to leaving Tottenham after failing to secure a move to Manchester City last year.
But with The Citizens now intent on signing Erling Haaland instead, United now have a chance to land Kane.

And the Red Devils are considering a fresh approach for the England captain, report The Mirror.
They may even be able to persuade him to move to Old Trafford by appointing Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine has a strong relationship with Kane from their time together at Spurs, with Pochettino still keeping in contact with the striker.
Kane has remained patient for his blockbuster move but Daniel Levy could allow him to leave in the summer. It could be the last chance Spurs have to rake in a massive sum for Kane as he will only have two years left on his contract by then. He will also turn 29 in the summer so will gradually begin to lose value.
Up to 200 investors eyeing Chelsea
There could be as many as 200 investors interested in buying Chelsea, according to reports.
Sources have told Sportsmail there has been huge interest in taking the reins at the London-based Premier League giants.

Suitors are reported to have until this Friday’s deadline to submit a ‘detailed background report’ on all of their backers.
And in the new climate of greater scrutiny surrounding ownership of football clubs, interested parties are being asked to outline their ‘motives’ before they enter the bidding process.
American investment banking giant Raine are representing Chelsea on the sale of the club.
Sportsmail reports that Blues director Marina Granovskaia is also offering interested groups guidance during the process.
They add that bidders have been given a list of details they must submit with a ‘cash bid of close to £3bn’.
Their submissions will be made available to Raine, the Premier League and the government.
    Abramovich looking dishevelled
Roman Abramovich broke his cover at a Tel Aviv airport today – moments before jetting off to Turkey.
The sanctioned Russian was spotted looking dishevelled in Israel’s Ben Gurion airport shortly before his jet took off for Istanbul.
Photos show the Chelsea owner sitting in the airport’s VIP lounge with a face mask pulled down over his chin.

He can bee seen peering at his phone while glancing overhead.
It’s understood the billionaire drove from his £65million mansion towards the airport earlier in the day.
And his luxury Gulfstream G650ER jet – registered LX-Ray – landed in Turkey just after 3pm this afternoon.
Abramovich, who also holds Israeli and Portuguese citizenship, was among seven Russian billionaires added to the British sanctions list on Thursday as part of efforts to isolate President Vladimir Putin over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
This morning, Israel’s Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said the country’s financial, banking and aviation authorities were looking into the issue of Russian oligarch’s in the country.
In a statement made while on a visit to Slovakia, which borders Ukraine, he said: “Israel will not be a route to bypass sanctions imposed on Russia by the United States and other Western countries.”
    ‘Man Utd will want Tuchel’
Manchester United will want Thomas Tuchel and the Chelsea boss could be interested, says Jamie Carragher.
The Red Devils are on the search for a new manager to take over in the summer and have been heavily linked to Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag.
But now Chelsea’s future has been thrown into uncertainty it is possible Tuchel would be open to jumping ship.
He has stated there is no way he will leave before the summer and is committed to the club but Carragher argues he may not be telling the whole truth about how he feels.
Carra told Sky Sports: “I think it is realistic in that if you are Manchester United why wouldn’t you ask that question?
“Unfortunately with the situation that Chelsea find themselves in, other clubs will be looking at their situation in terms of players or managers going forward, that’s the nature of the beast.
“He’s one of the best managers in world football and United are looking for one but I think he’s come out and said that he’s committed to the club and I’m sure that’s what he’s got to say.
“But there are uncertain times for Chelsea because you don’t know what the ownership is going to be towards the end of the season. He’s 100 per cent the most important person you have to keep in place as a new owner. In terms of Thomas Tuchel, they have a guy – and there’s very few of them in world football – who can compete with Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.”
    Roman at Tel Aviv airport
Under-pressure Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been pictured at Tel Aviv airport VIP lounge as his private jet reportedly heads for Istanbul.
Government sanctions are making it tough for the Russian oligarch to sell up.
But it’s thought Chelsea could have new owners by the end of the month.

    Blues give ticket update
Chelsea have provided an update on the ticketing situation surrounding their upcoming Men’s and Women’s matches.
Last week the club was banned from selling match tickets as part of the sanctions placed on Chelsea as a result of Roman Abramovich having his assets frozen.

Chelsea have revealed they are in talks with the Government and pressing for them to allow tickets to be sold ahead of big ties in the Champions League and FA Cup.
A club statement on the current situation reads: “We are pressing the Government to allow our supporters to have access to tickets.
“Meetings are taking place daily in search of a resolution. In addition, the Premier League and FA are also discussing with the Government the sporting integrity issues raised if they do not permit fans to attend.
“We are aware of the high level of frustration our supporters are facing over this issue, and we are doing everything we can to resolve it as soon as possible.”
    Forest hopes chopped by injuries
Nottingham Forest have been rocked by a double injury blow ahead of Sunday’s glamour FA Cup quarter-final tie with Liverpool, writes GRAEME BRYCE.
Defensive duo Max Lowe and Steve Cook are out of tomorrow night’s promotion tussle with QPR at the City Ground and will also miss Sunday’s showdown with Jurgen Klopp’s in-form Liverpool.
Both players limped off during Saturday’s 4-0 home win against Reading and manager Steve Cooper confirmed the pair face six weeks on the sidelines in a crushing double-whammy for the Championship side.
Cooper confessed: “The Reading victory came at a cost with the two injuries.
“Both are out for six weeks.
“It is a blow for us and the two lads but we just have to get on with it and utilise our squad.
“Unfortunately these things happen and it is important we look after the boys who are injured and don’t dwell on it too long, or it becomes an even bigger problem.”
There was some good news for Forest fans after it was confirmed homegrown midfielder Ryan Yates has penned a new deal until 2025.
Raphinha ‘hunted by Barca, Chelsea and Liverpool’
Barcelona are leading the race to sign Leeds star Raphinha, with Chelsea and Liverpool also interested, according to reports.
The Brazilian forward, 25, has been in superb form this season and is expected to leave the relegation battlers in the summer.

And Barcelona lead the race for Raphinha with his agent Deco already working on a deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The LaLiga giants are yet to launch an offer with Leeds facing the drop.
Jesse Marsch won his first match in charge of the Yorkshire side in this third game after Joe Gelhardt bagged a crucial, last-gasp winner against fellow strugglers Norwich.
But with Leeds still locked in a fight to avoid relegation, Barcelona know they could be able to land Raphinha cheaply in the summer.
Barca have the added advantage of Deco being Raphinha’s agent.
The former Portugal star spent four years at the Nou Camp as a player and still works as a South America scout for the Spaniards.
Saudi Media NOT linked to country’s rulers
Potential new Chelsea owners Saudi Media have NO direct ties to the Saudi Arabian rulers, writes JOSHUA JONES.
And they plan to invest heavily into the women’s team as they look to continue their success in the WSL and in the cups.

Saudi Media have reportedly bid £2.7billion for the Stamford Bridge club and want to renovate the ageing stadium.
The Blues are desperate to complete a quick sale following the sanctions placed on them and current owner Roman Abramovich due to his links with Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Headed by Chelsea fan Mohamed Alkhereiji, the private consortium are receiving ‘support in finding funding and backers’ from Mohammed bin Khalid Al Saud.
Khalid Al Saud is chair of the Saudi Telecom Company, which is a state-owned company in which the Public Investment Fund owns shares.
Chelsea could be sold this month
Chelsea could be sold by the end of March, according to the American investment firm in charge of arranging a buyout.
The Blues will need a new Government licence for the sale after owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned and his assets frozen.
The deadline for bids has been delayed until this Friday, with more than 20 serious parties reportedly interested.
American investment firm Raine Group sent a letter to potential buyers on Saturday insisting it would be ‘moving forward with the sale process’.
Lowdown on Saudi billionaire eyeing Chelsea buy-out
In just over a day, Chelsea have gone from being financially paralysed to potentially saved – thanks to Mohamed Alkhereiji, writes DAVE FRASER.
Roman Abramovich put the Blues up for sale earlier this month but was quickly hit with sanctions due to his ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin. Initially, the oligarch was banned from selling the club.

But after Abramovich agreed to forgo any proceeds made from the sale of Chelsea, the government allowed him to push on with his bid to move on from the West London club.
And already a bid has come in, with private consortium Saudi Media Group – led by Alkhereiji – submitting a £2.7billion offer.
Abramovich had hoped for £3bn, but could accept the offer in the interest of a quick sale.
Rivalling British billionaire Nick Candy and a number of other parties including Hansjorg Wyss and Todd Boehly, Alkhereiji is just the latest to take an interest in running the Stamford Bridge show.
    Who is Mohamed Alkhereiji?
Alkhereiji is a Saudi Arabian businessman… and Chelsea fan.
He runs the Saudi Media Group – the party behind the £2.7bn bid – and is CEO of the parent company Engineer Holding Group, founded by his father, Abdulelah Alkhereiji.
Alkhereiji has ties to the UK, though, having studied at the Cass Business School in London and also spending three years working at Deutsche Bank.

Chelsea set to keep Barca target Cesar
Cesar Azpilicueta’s potential free transfer from Chelsea to Barcelona has hit a snag, writes GARY STONEHOUSE.
The Blues are currently unable to offer any new deals to their players or sign any new ones due to the sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich.
Spaniard Azpilicueta was one of several stars at the club who were due to become free agents when their contracts expire in June.
Reports have been building for months that the 32-year-old Chelsea skipper was set to return to his homeland with Barcelona.
However, he will no longer be a free agent at the end of the season, according to Marca.
They claim that an automatic one-year extension in Azpilicueta’s deal has now become active.
    Jorginho: It’s a good challenge
Jorginho insists Chelsea’s players are fully focused on matters on the pitch despite the ongoing uncertainty engulfing the football club off the field.
Speaking to the Chelsea website after the dramatic conclusion to Sunday’s 1-0 home win over Newcastle, the Italian said: “I thought we believed until the end and that is our group, it is our mentality.
“That is what we have been showing all the time now, we keep focussed, work hard and fight and push until the end. We deserved the win. It was a great result, atmosphere and great for the fans.
“It is a good challenge, to be honest, because we’re all human and when there’s so much going around it is not easy.
“We try to isolate sometimes, we try to focus on what we need to do because we are also professional as you could see we know our targets and we know what we’re here for. We’re fighting for that.”

The title race is hotting up
Manchester City drop two points this evening with Liverpool edging ever closer. The Reds can get within one point of Pep’s side if they win at Arsenal on Wednesday.
It’s anyone’s game now. Who’s your money on?

    Pep remaining positive
We played a really, really good game. We created a lot of chances, especially in the first half. They were a difficult side who defend really well, but we played a really good game. We will continue the same, be patient and we will get our chances. Tonight we couldn’t convert but sometimes this happens. I thought a lot to make some changes but they were playing good. There are nine games still to play.Pep Guardiola, Manchester City boss
    Viera proud of teamwork
It was tense from the first minute. But when you play against City you have to be ready. The players managed a difficult situation and played really well. Both games against them, we have conceded chances, but our keeper and teamwork was really good. You need a bit of luck as well, and we were lucky, but you need to perform well, and we did it.Patrick Viera, Crystal Palace boss
    Gallagher praises Eagles effort
The whole team were brilliant, we deserved that. To be honest with you, I can’t feel my legs!Connor Gallagher, Crystal Palace midfielder
The Palace number 23 was influential this evening in a remarkable Palace performance, covering 12.5 kilometres. The most he has ever run in a game this season.
Fans have taken to Twitter in admiration of his work-rate.

    Full-time – Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
Guaita claims the ball and Martin Atkinson blows his whistle for full-time. Palace have held the Champions at Selhurst Park!
Patrick Viera’s men have pulled off yet another result against Pep Guardiola’s team. The South London side haven’t conceded against the Champions in either game.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
94, Gallagher gets in behind and cuts it back towards Zaha, but it wasn’t quite on the money.
City get it back up the other end towards Grealish. The midfielder wins the throw-in after exchanging some words of emotion with Clyne.
One last chance for City, here.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
93, After some pressure, City waste possession, and it goes out for a Palace free kick.
Palace fans checking their watches, now.
    Still no changes from Guardiola.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
90, We have 5 minutes of added time here.
If city don’t score this evening, De Bruyne could not have done any more.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
90, A huge chance for Laporte!
De Bruyne produces a brilliant cross on to a plate for the central defender. But he heads it on to a Palace player. Desperately unlucky, but City can’t make these chances count.
Gallagher then gets down the other end pushes the ball past Ederson, but takes it a bit wide before blasting it over the top. Great energy from the midfielder, though.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City – Palace yellow card
89, Eduoard catches Walker on the top of the foot and picks up a booking.
A chance for De Bruyne from the free kick.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
87, Andersen does it agin. The central defender plays the free kick directly out of play. Is this a tactic? Or does Anderson think he’s a rugby player kicking for touch?
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
85, Grealish wins the ball of Kouyate on the edge of the Palace area before driving at the Palace defence. After some great feet, he slides it to Bernardo Silva, but Palace get it away.
Grealish comes back to slide tackle Zaha and win it back for city. Great effort from the 26-year-old.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
84, All of a sudden Palace are threatening.
Zaha plays the ball wide to Eduoard who holds off Walker, before playing it in behind Laporte to Zaha. The winger comes back inside and strikes on goal, but Ederson is able to claim it.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
    81, Eduoard with an opportunity!
Well that was against the run of play. Kouyate wins the ball back, and brilliantly chinks past a couple of City players before feeding Eduoard. But the substitute takes one too many touches and can’t get the shot away.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
80, Zaha earns a foul and relieves the pressure on his side. Palace take their time, but Andersen’s free kick goes out for a throw-in. Not ideal.
De Bruyne then plays the ball across the edge of the area to Grealish. The winger cuts in field and his shot is deflected for a corner which is dealt with by Palace.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
76, De Bruyne with a stunning pass.
The Belgian curls one over the Palace defence to Foden who takes it down well, but his effort is blocked at the last minute.
Selhurst Park is starting to sing a little louder now as we get closer to the final whistle.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
75, Mahrez swings in a corner, Laporte goes down in the box, but not too many appeals from men in white.
The ball then falls to Grealish in the box who’s shot has the pace sting taken out of it by Kouyate. A goal saving block.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
73, Crystal Palace had four men down, but they are all back to their feet now.
Kouyate then took a tumble in the middle of the park and the referee blows his whistle.
Rodri pushes the Palace number 8, waving at him to get up which sparks some pushing and shoving between the players.
Martin Atkinson gives Rodri a stern talking to, and the game can continue.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
70, What an opportunity for City!
De Bruyne squeezes a nice ball in behind Mitchell to Grealish who gets his head up and flashes a low ball across the 6 yard box. Bernardo Silva gets a touch to it, but can’t convert.
    It looked easier to score!
Will City start to ponder on these missed chances?
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
68, Palace manage to get out with Gallagher again. He plays the ball up to Zaha, but Laporte is in control of the situation and comes away with the ball.
    City can attack again, now.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
67, Grealish is forced all the way back to the half way line by Palace from an originally promising position. There’s no way through for the winger at the moment.
But the probing continues for City.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
64, A bit of magic from Foden.
The young Englishman turns two Palace players before producing a gorgeous chip over to De Bruyne who is millimetres away from it.
Great feet and vision from Foden.

Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City – Palace double substitution
63, Mateta is off for Edouard, and Ollise is replaced by Ayew.
A fresh set of legs for Palace
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
62, Gallagher takes a chance with a pass which is intercepted, but Guaita can get there first.
Palace eventually get it out. They look nervous in possession that close to their own goal.
    Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester City
59, Walker plays the ball into Foden’s feet who just takes a little too long to get a shot off, and Mitchell is able to get a foot in and avert the danger.
The young left-back has been brilliant this afternoon at reading City’s passing.

Tuchel refuses to commit to Chelsea next season, Abramovich BANNED, Lukaku ‘to take PAY CUT for Inter transfer’

CHELSEA will be allowed to finish the season whether they are sold or not.And Thomas Tuchel will remain with the club until then, but has refused to give any commitment beyond the summer.
Meanwhile it has been reported that Roman Abramovich has given the green light to a sale of Chelsea with bids to be taken next week.
This is despite the Russian not being able to earn a penny from any sale due to sanctions.
Elsewhere, Romelu Lukaku is reportedly ready to take a pay cut to rejoin Inter Milan.
But there has been some good news for Chelsea fans as Nike are set to stand-by their kit deal with the club.
That sets them apart from Hyundai, who have pulled out.
Shirt sponsor Three have also suspended their deal with the Blues, asking for their logo not to appear on shirts for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile the Blues may be allowed to continue selling tickets to non-season ticket holders and away fans if they donate the profits from the sales to victims of the war in Ukraine.

    Matchwinner Kai ‘so reliable’
Thomas Tuchel praised Chelsea’s late matchwinner Kai Havertz as so reliable’ and on ‘absolutely the right path’ to the top.
Tuchel told the BBC: “It was a goal of real quality from a real quality player. He is a top character and on absolutely the right path in his development. He is so reliable and very strong.”

Candy to give fan seat on board if he buys Chelsea
Nick Candy claims he’ll give a boardroom seat to a fan if he buys Chelsea.
The Brit property developer also says he is willing to help fund the Blues while they reel from sanctions against owner Roman Abramovich.
Russian oligarch Abramovich had his assets frozen by the government and was banned by the Prem from being a club director amid his links to Vladimir Putin.
The sanctions put Abramovich’s plans to sell Chelsea on hold and also mean his £3bn asking price could tumble.
A spokesman for Candy said the 49-year-old would ‘advocate for a fan representative to join the board so supporters become part of the decision-making process’ if he took over.
He added: “Mr Candy cares hugely about the future of the club and believes that the fans and the community are central to its continued success.”
    Everton 2/1 to go down
Everton’s fourth straight Prem defeat left them fourth bottom – and with their survival odds slashed.
The bookies rate Norwich as virtual certs to go down but after Watford it gets tight.
If the odds are right, Burnley will be the third team demoted, with Leeds and Everton just escaping.
William Hill spokesperson Tony Kenny said: “The misery shows no sign of ending at Everton.
“We’ve cut them from 10/3 after today’s loss to Wolves and, for context, we now think there’s more chance of them dropping down to the Championship than we do of Liverpool winning the league at 5/2.”
William Hill odds for Prem relegation:
    Norwich 1/80 Watford 1/6 Burnley 4/5 Leeds 7/4 Everton 2/1 Brentford 12/1 Newcastle 50/1 BAR 150/1
Hero Kai ‘on right path’ to top
Thomas Tuchel praised Chelsea’s late matchwinner Kai Havertz as so reliable’ and on ‘absolutely the right path’ to the top.
Blues boss Tuchel hailed the 1-0 home win over Newcastle by telling the BBC: “It was a goal of real quality from a real quality player.
He is a top character and on absolutely the right path in his development.

    JT praises Havertz winner
John Terry has heaped praise on Kai Havertz after he scored a brilliant late winner for Chelsea against Newcastle.
The Blues had struggled to break down Eddie Howe’s side until the German struck late on.

And it was a goal worthy of winning any game with Havertz finally getting the better of his marker Dan Burn.
Earlier in the match Havertz had clashed with the Toon defender and was fortunate not to see red for an elbow which left Burn bleeding.
But in the 89th minute, Havertz showed the classy side of his game as he brought down Jorginho’s long ball with an expert first touch before firing past Robert Sanchez.
After the full-time whistle Chelsea legend Terry wrote on Twitter: “What a touch, what a finish.”
‘Privileged Chelsea players don’t face same threat as staff’ –
Thomas Tuchel claims Chelsea’s last-gasp 1-0 win over Newcastle was ‘huge’ on and off the field.
Kai Havertz strengthened the Blues’ grip on third place in their first game after owner Roman Abramovich was banned as a Prem director.
And manager Tuchel told the BBC: “This result has a huge impact on us, to give this pleasure to our fans means a lot. It changes everything.
“We are in a situation we can’t influence. In one way it is bad because you feel you have no control, but in another way it allows us to focus on what we can influence – in our performance and in the spirit we show.
“We are aware how privileged we are. This is a huge club, we are in the focus.
“Hundreds of people in this club are not so privileged, maybe face a more existential threat and are more worried about their future than us.
“This gives us a responsibility to fight for them, keep their heads up high and not give in.”
‘United, Arsenal and Liverpool in for Isak’
Arsenal target Alexander Isak is now said to be on Manchester United and Liverpool’s radar.
The £60million-rated Real Sociedad striker could be a more realistic alternative for United to Erling Haaland.

Man City lead the race ahead of Real Madrid for Borussia Dortmund goal machine Haaland.
Arsenal’s need for a new proven frontman is perhaps greatest.
But even if they fend off United for the final Champions League spot, their financial pulling power could fall short in any bidding war for Isak.
Bang to rights after shocking assault
A THAI footballer was sacked by Bangkok FC after delivering a shocking Muay Thai-style blow on his opponent.
Aitsaret Noichaiboon attacked North Bangkok University FC’s Supasan Ruangsuphanimit during a third-division football game in Thailand on Sunday.
Ruangsuphanimit clipped Noichaiboon during the closing stages of the match, which left the former Bangkok FC player furious as he then slammed a devastating elbow into his opponent’s face.
Shocking moment footballer FLOORS opponent with Muay Thai elbow in final act for his club before he is sacked
The aggressor was immediately sent off by the referee whereas the victim of his assault was taken to hospital and required 24 stitches.
Bangkok FC then terminated Noichaiboon’s contract effective immediately.
A club statement read: “Bangkok FC would like to [take a] stand and not support the action.
“The club has cancelled the contract of the player.
“The club would like to express our condolences for the incident and will do everything possible to stop this happening again.”
North Bangkok University FC confirmed that Ruangsuphanimit received stitches on his upper lip.

    ‘Utd in Sam race’
Manchester United and West Ham are tipped to fight it out for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone.
Spurs and Southampton could also eye a free transfer move for the three-cap star this summer.
United’s frustrated second-choice stopper Dean Henderson might depart at the end of the season.
So the Red Devils want a quality alternative like former old Trafford kid Johnstone, 28.
The Hammers remain favourites to sign him, though.
    Everton survival odds plunge
Everton’s fourth straight Prem defeat left them fourth bottom – and with their survival odds slashed.
The bookies rate Norwich as virtual certs to go down but after Watford it gets tight.
If the odds are right, Burnley will be the third team demoted, with Leeds and Everton just escaping.
William Hill spokesperson Tony Kenny said: “The misery shows no sign of ending at Everton.

Howe ‘well aware’ of mass Saudi executions
Eddie Howe has revealed he is ‘well aware’ of the mass executions taking place in Saudi Arabia.
Newcastle’s trip to Chelsea came as it was revealed EIGHTY ONE killings were ordered in a single day in the Middle Eastern nation – the largest mass execution in Saudi history.
It was only in October The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund purchased Newcastle for £300million leaving the club bankrolled by Mohammed bin Salman.
But manager Howe refused to comment on matters over 4,000 miles away with his focus instead on Newcastle’s relegation fight, not their owners.
He said: “I’m here to manage the football team and coach the football team. I’m well aware of what’s going on around the world.
“But my focus is on trying to produce the team to try and win football matches and get enough points to stay in the league. That’s all I’ll talk about.”
Kop to fight off Kelleher interest
Liverpool plan to keep Irish shot stopper Caoimhin Kelleher next season — despite rival interest.
The young keeper, 23, starred in the Carabao Cup final triumph and will be a part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad as cover for No 1 Alisson.
Kelleher could easily find a Premier League loan but Liverpool are keen to hold on to him for one more season before deciding what to do in the long term.
Liverpool are set to lose two keepers in the summer with both Adrian and Loris Karius set to leave the club.
Karius’ last appearance for Liverpool came in the 3-1 Champions League final defeat to serial winners Real Madrid in 2018.
The German made two colossal errors leading to goals and was shipped out on loan to Besiktas in August.
    Morocco boss freezes out Ziyech
Morocco boss Vahid Halilhodzic has declared Hakim Ziyech wouldn’t be selected for the national team ‘even if his name was Lionel Messi’.
The Chelsea wide-man hasn’t featured for his country since last June and has been part of an ongoing row with Halilhodzic.

Ziyech was not part of the Morocco squad that made it to this year’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals before being dumped out by Mo Salah’s Egypt.
And the 28-year-old won’t be called up again by Halilhodzic any time soon because his ‘behaviour’ doesn’t merit it.
His record at international level (16 goals in 35 games) led to questions from reporters after the defeat to Egypt as to why he wasn’t playing at Afcon.
But Halilhodzic hit back: “The players I have selected are the best in the country. I don’t select a player who can unbalance the group. Not even if his name is Lionel Messi.
“Ziyech’s behaviour does not fit the selection. He doesn’t want to train, doesn’t want to play. He doesn’t take it seriously. I’m not going to beg him to come back.
“After the [Afcon] tournament three years ago, he was the most criticised. He was booed. You mustn’t forget that.”
    Howe’s that not a penalty?!
Eddie Howe blasted a ‘ridiculous’ decision not to award Newcastle a penalty for Trevoh Chalobah’s challenge on Jacob Murphy and claimed it made a ‘mockery’ of VAR.
Chelsea defender Chalobah twisted Murphy back by grabbing his shirt – before the Toon winger tumbled theatrically.

Newcastle boss Howe told the BBC: “I have just seen it again. It had a feeling of a penalty at the time but when you watch it again, how that has not been given with VAR I don’t know?
“It makes a mockery of VAR, to be honest, if that is not used and given in the way that it should do.
“It is a clear foul. He’s ripped the shirt off his back. It is a clear penalty, I can’t understand it.”
And on claims ref David Coote was told not to look at the monitor, Howe added: “It’s ridiculous, it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

    Tuchel: Victory ‘changes everything’
Toon duel Man Utd for Kalvin & Rudiger
Manchester United are set to do battle with Newcastle to sign both Kalvin Phillips AND Antonio Rudiger, according to reports.
The Red Devils are eyeing a rebuild in the summer when a new long-term managerial appointment is made.
Both midfield and defence are areas which need improvement.

And with Leeds’ place in the Premier League far from secure, United could look to snatch Phillips from one of their biggest rivals.
United also hold an interest in Chelsea’s Champions League-winning defender Rudiger, who could be available for free.
With Chelsea unable to tie players down to new contracts due to owner Roman Abramovich being sanctioned, the German could prove to be a shrewd acquisition.
But according to the Daily Mail, United could be rivalled by newly mega-rich Newcastle for both players’ signatures.
The Magpies have made great progress under boss Eddie Howe and their January signings have helped distance themselves from the relegation zone.
And Newcastle want more of the same in the summer by improving their midfield and defence.
The Magpies are big admirers of Phillips and have the financial capabilities to buy the player.
    Chelsea sub ratings
Romelu Lukaku for Werner (63 mins) – 6
Didn’t do much better than Werner really when he came on and struggled to make an impact.
Mateo Kovacic for Mount (63 mins) – 8
Chelsea looked much better after this change with Kovacic’s ability on the ball and direct style of play.
Christian Pulisic for Sarr (77 mins) – N/A
    Rest of the Chelsea ratings
    Timo Werner – 4
Seems like every good move that then landed with Werner, he would then be the cause of the attack breaking down with a loose pass or getting tackled.
Not good enough again from him and another terrible performance in a Chelsea shirt to add to the collection.
    Kai Havertz – 8
Putting himself about well and doing well to wind up Dan Burn. Strong on the ball and an aerial threat as well. Some good touches and ball progression.
Should have scored early in the second half to win the game but more than made up for it with a sublime touch and then finish right at the death!
    More Chelsea ratings
    N’Golo Kante – 7
His pace and energy was very useful for Chelsea as they often struggled to play out from the back.
His dribbling was needed and also recovery and interceptions as always.
    Mason Mount – 5
He was subbed off early in the second half after a poor game and he wasn’t really involved enough or on the ball enough to be able to really make a difference for Chelsea.
    Hakim Ziyech – 7
Very tidy on the ball and neat quick feet at times. He was fouled a lot and was using his feet well in order to nip past challenges. Always more comfortable out wide on the right for me.
    Chelsea ratings continued
    Antonio Rudiger – 9
Solid and emphatic performance from Rudiger, who was certainly one of the more livelier Chelsea players today.
Carrying the ball well and driving with it, and also good defending in the air. The only one with real passion today.
    Malang Sarr – 6
Didn’t do a lot wrong but the same as with Chalobah, he will never bring much in an attacking sense in the full back position so it was a case of losing attacking outlets really.
    Jorginho – 6
Some nice little passes in tight spaces and linked up well to help move Chelsea forward.
Also got caught on the ball a couple of times as well though despite some great touches but set up Havertz’s winner.
    Chelsea ratings vs Newcastle
    Edouard Mendy – 7
Made a few good saves as Newcastle threatened on occasions. His defence in front of him was quite open, and Mendy was also needed to help Chelsea keep the ball building from the back
    Trevoh Chalobah – 7
Looked comfortable enough as a full back and was decent on the ball. Won’t offer the same attacking threat that Reece James obviously would though, but solid performance.
    Andreas Christensen – 7
Part of a back four today and had a pretty good game all round to be fair.
Comfortable on the ball and he was the main one Chelsea were using deep to play out with.
Andriy in tears over scoring return
Andriy Yarmolenko broke down into tears after scoring on his return to first-team action in West Ham’s 2-1 home win over Aston Villa, writes JOSHUA MBU.
The Ukraine superstar was given compassionate leave after Russia invaded his homeland and hasn’t featured since February 5 against Kidderminster.

Yarmolenko travelled to Poland to collect his wife and one of his children after they fled the war zone.
The Hammers No7 made an impact from the substitutes bench after Michail Antonio was forced off through injury.
Yarmolenko was found by team-mate Said Benrahma inside the penalty area and the winger brought the ball under his spell and poked it past Emiliano Martinez.
The goal moved hearts and lifted spirits inside the London Stadium and West Ham got a second to kill the game off.
Benrahma was picked out by Hammers captain Declan Rice after a marauding run.
The Algerian played a delicate pass towards the penalty spot and Pablo Fornals made no mistake with the finish. Villa pulled a late goal back through Jacob Ramsey
    ‘Late, great scenes’
Chelsea’s social media team lapped up Kai Havertz’s late winner at home to Newcastle.

Full time – Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle
Relief around Stamford Bridge after a shocking week in West London.
It was a moment of pure class from Kai Havertz to win it right at the end.
Newcastle fans would argue that he should have been sent off in the first half for an elbow on Dan Burn.
But Tuchel’s boys continue to fight against the animosity over Roman Abramovich’s sanctions.

Leicester XI – four changes for Foxes
Brendan Rodgers rings the changes following Leicester’s 2-0 win over Rennes in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.
There’s a change at right-back as the recovering James Justin drops to the bench with Ricardo Pereira recalled.
In midfield, James Maddison and Nampalys Mendy come in for Youri Tielemans and Wilfred Ndidi, while Kelechi Iheanacho is favoured in attack to Patson Daka.
Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has the captain’s armband, and will lead from the back of the Foxes’ 4-3-3 formation.
    1 Schmeichel; 21 Ricardo, 18 Amartey, 4 Soyuncu, 33 Thomas; 10 Maddison, 24 Mendy, 22 Dewsbury-Hall; 11 Albrighton, 14 Iheanacho, 7 Barnes

Gabriel Martinelli keeps his place on the left wing despite the recovery from illness of Emile Smith Rowe.

    Shutouts have Foxes fighting back
After a run of five Premier League games without a win, Leicester have forced themselves into form with back-to-back wins.
The Foxes beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor at the start of the month, and followed it up with a 1-0 home win over Leicester.
It’s almost two-and-a-half years since the the East Midlands club last won three in a row in the Premier League without conceding a goal.
Back then, Brendan Rodgers’ team followed up their memorable 9-0 win at Southampton with a 2-0 success at Crystal Palace.
The third game in that run? A 2-0 home win over Arsenal.
    Ramsdale’s wonder save denies Maddison
That Arsenal win earlier in the season, however, will not be remembered most for the strikes from Smith Rowe and Gabriel, but instead for a miraculous stop from Aaron Ramsdale.
The young English goalkeeper won over his new supporters with a string of fine saves, the best of which was a flying effort to keep out James Maddison’s free-kick.
Here’s how we reported it at the time:
One save in particular will go down in Arsenal folklore and compete with David Seaman’s miraculous one-handed stop which famously defied Paul Peschisolido FA Cup glory. Just before half-time with Leicester looking for a lifeline, James Maddison appeared to provide it when he curled a free kick over the Gunners’ wall. His effort was hurtling towards the top bin when Ramsdale leaped to his left and somehow clawed the ball onto the crossbar – then reacted like lightning to prevent Jonny Evans bundling the rebound home.Graeme BryceThe Sun

    Arsenal eyeing up Foxes double
Having won the reverse fixture at the King Power Stadium back in October, Arsenal are hoping to complete their fourth league double of the season this afternoon.
The Gunners have already between Wolves, Watford and Norwich twice, and are halfway to adding Leicester to the list.
Early strikes from Gabriel and Emile Smith Rowe earned Mikel Arteta’s team the points in the East Midlands five months ago.
A home victory at the Emirates this afternoon would bring up Arsenal’s first double over the Foxes since the 2015-16.
However, it was Leicester that had the last laugh that season as they sensationally took the Premier League title against all odds.
    Gunners odds-on for success
The bookmakers have priced up Arsenal as clear favourites to make it five Premier League wins in a row when they host Leicester this afternoon.

    Arsenal win 2/5
    Draw 4/1
    Leicester win 6/1

Odds from Betfair correct at the time of post publication.
    Good afternoon from The Emirates
Welcome to live SunSport coverage of the Premier League match between Arsenal and Leicester City.
After Manchester United’s Ronaldo-inspired win over Tottenham yesterday, it’s time now for the Gunners to take their shot at the Champions League spots.
Mikel Arteta’s men have won their last four fixtures, and another three points today will ensure they leapfrog back over the Red Devils and into that coveted fourth spot.
Standing in their way, however, are a Foxes outfit that have finally found form themselves.
Brendan Rodgers’ team have also chalked up four successive victories in all competitions, and their previously porous defence has now kept three consecutive clean sheets.
Yet Leicester have been dealt a huge blow in the build-up to this contest with the news that Jamie Vardy is back on the treatment table.
Having only returned recently after two months out, the 35-year-old hitman has succumbed to a knee problem, and joins the club’s ever-growing injury list.
The hosts have had better fortune in that respect, and will only be missing Takehiro Tomiyasu this afternoon after Emile Smith Rowe was passed fit.
The stage is set for a 4.30pm kick off in north London, and we’ll soon have the all-important team news as part of our pre-match coverage.

    Chelsea wunderwaffe downs Newcastle
Most of the talk about this game will be about whether Kai Havertz should have been sent off and whether Newcastle should have been awarded a penalty.
Aside from that, let’s take a moment to admire the goal that won the game.
Brilliant control by Havertz taking the ball out of the air with one-touch and then immediately slotting the ball passed Dubravka.
    FT: Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle
The referee brings the game to an end.
Newcastle look devastated having kept Chelsea out for so long.
Big win for Thomas Tuchel’s team.
    Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle
90+4. Kai Havertz has haunted Newcastle today.
He goes through from the right again, cutting inside and ball clips off the bar.
Newcastle will argue he shouldn’t still be on the pitch.

    Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle
90+2. Not the start the manager will have wanted from his sub.
Gayle is immediately booked for a heavy challenge on Jorginho from behind.
This just plays into Chelsea’s hands as they can slow the game down.
    Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle
    90. We will have an additional four minutes here.
Gayle and Fraser come on for Newcastle in their desperate bid for a goal.
    Chelsea 1-0 Newcastle

Jorginho drifts the ball over the back of Dan Burn and Havertz ghosts in behind him.
The first touch is sublime, bringing the ball under his spell before slotting the ball into the corner of the goal.
    Goal – Kai Havertz (Chelsea)
    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    87. You would have to say that despite only registering one shot on target in the entire game, they should have scored.
Havertz header was weak and straight at the keeper.
It is still the best chance either side has managed today.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle – Schar chance!
    85. Targett crosses the ball from a wide position, picking out the Newcastle centre-back.
He has a free header but cannot beat Mendy.
That was a big chance for the visitors.
    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    83. This would be an ideal time for Newcastle to sucker punch Chelsea.
Defending the home side’s attacks, all they need is one counter attack to really make The Blues pay for their lack of creativity.
Saint-Maximin dances passed two Chelsea players, winning his side a throw in deep in the home side’s half.

    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    81. It is all Chelsea at the moment, probing away at the Newcastle back line.
Wave after wave of attack but that final pass is missing.
If they get a point here today, this will give The Magpies confidence of going anywhere and getting a result.
    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    79. Kovacic bursts through the middle beating a few Newcastle players.
Guimaraes takes one for the team and brings him down.
    Yellow card for the Brazilian.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle – Chelsea sub
    77. Sarr is replaced by Pulisic.
Chelsea are trying to find somebody to spark something in this performance.
Newcastle look comfortable at the moment.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle – Havertz chance!
    75. Chelsea need to find some creativity from somewhere.
Ziyech bends one in with his trusty left foot, curling towards goal.
Havertz makes a great run to meet the cross but can only head start at Dubravka.
    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    73. The home fans have gone very quiet with their team giving them nothing to get passionate about.
Newcastle fans ask whether the ground is a library again.
Chelsea push forward looking to penetrate Newcastle’s solid back line.

    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    71. Chelsea are still yet to have a shot on goal in this game.
Despite being unbeaten, their home form is largely responsible for them dropping out of the title race.
A draw is as bad as a defeat when you are chasing Man City and Liverpool.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle – Newcastle sub
    69. Saint-Maximin comes on for Almiron.
Murphy switches flanks to accommodate the change.
Has he got a bit of the Pappis Ciise about him to go and grab a Newcastle winner at Stamford Bridge?
    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    67. It seems as though from what we are seeing in this game that potentially Chelsea have sanctions against having shots on goal.
It has been a very drab performance by the European and World Club champions.
Maybe they are worried about their long term futures.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle – Chelsea subs
    65. Lukaku and Kovacic have come on for Mount and Werner.
Tuchel keen to make something happen here.
Newcastle have been the better side so far in this half.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle – Werner chance!
    63. Timo Werner goes clean through one on one with Dubravka.
He rounds the keeper who then brings him down.
Stamford Bridge erupts calling for a penalty.
The linesman realises it is Werner and raises his flag for offside.

    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    61. VAR should be there to end contention in the game.
Currently it only seems to create more.
The league need to address the role of VAR in the game.
It seems they are there not to embarrass referees over poor decisions.
    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    59. Ziyech is booked for a high-foot on edge of the Chelsea box.
Free-kick for Newcastle in a dangerous position.
Targett’s cross cannot find anyone but a Chelsea player.
Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle – Penalty shout for Newcastle!
    57. Chalobah is a very lucky boy there.
The referee awards a corner but the replay shows that he had hold of Murphy’s shirt stopping him from going forward.
VAR checks and decides there is no ‘clear and obvious error’ from the referee.
What a ridiculous rule that is, either it is a penalty or not.
    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    55. Chelsea look very comfortable in possession, as you would expect from a Thomas Tuchel side.
They just seem to be struggling in terms of creativity.
A ball over the top sees Werner break the Newcastle lines but his control was poor and the balls runs through to Dubravka.
    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle
    53. Kante is looking the most attacking player in a Chelsea shirt today.
Always looking to go forward and bring other people into play.
Rudiger gets into the box and looks to square it but it is put behind by Schar.

Roman Abramovich BANNED as Chelsea director, Blues financial crisis eased, Lukaku ‘to take PAY CUT for Inter transfer’

CHELSEA will be allowed to finish the season whether they are sold or not.And it has been reported that Roman Abramovich has given the green light to a sale of Chelsea with bids to be taken next week.
This is despite the Russian not being able to earn a penny from any sale due to sanctions.
In his press conference, boss Thomas Tuchel admitted that many players and staff were worried about their futures.
One of those players may be Romelu Lukaku, who is reportedly ready to take a pay cut to rejoin Inter Milan.
But there has been some good news for Chelsea fans as Nike are reportedly set to stand-by their kit deal with the club.
Billionaire Abramovich is said to have had over 300 parties express their interest in buying the Blues.

    Chelsea lifeline
Chelsea have been handed a £110million cash lifeline — to ensure they can finish the season.
The Government’s decision to ease their financial stranglehold on the Blues came as sanction-hit Russian owner Roman Abramovich was banned by the Premier League.
World and European club champions Chelsea were in danger of plunging into administration after the Government’s  stringent licence limited funds to meet their £28m monthly wage bill and all other outgoings.
But MPs yesterday revealed that two days of negotiations with club chiefs had resulted in a revised licence which will now allow the Blues to access previously FROZEN television and prize money.
Chelsea are permitted to use all the  potential £35m in TV income from the Prem and Uefa until the end of the season plus all prize money they are due from domestic and European competitions.
They are set to pocket £39m from the Prem if they stay in third place — and up to £36m if they retain their Champions League crown.
    Blues owe huge transfer money
Chelsea still owe Inter Milan up to £71m for Romelu Lukaku.
That is on top of the £100m or so the Blues were due to pay out over the course of this season in instalments on previous transfers.
But Chelsea’s canny business in the player trading market means they were also in line to receive £167m from other clubs during 2021-22, according to the last accounts of Roman Abramovich’s holding company.
Chelsea declined to comment on the details of the Lukaku deal.
Some information is available, however, because Inter made it public when they refinanced their massive debts earlier this year.
Publicly-issued documents show that Inter are due to receive the full £95m fee for the August 2021 transfer later this year – but not directly from Chelsea.
    Abramovich dating actress
Tycoon Roman Abramovich has been romantically linked to a stunning 25-year-old actress — who has Ukrainian family roots.
The sanctioned oligarch is secretly seeing Alexandra Korendyuk, an entrepreneur and TV star who appeared in Russian show You’re All P***ing Me Off, it is claimed.

Chelsea FC owner Abramovich, 55 — who was yesterday formally disqualified as a director of the club by the Premier League — was linked to Ms Korendyuk by Russian gossip columnist Bozhena Rynska.
The same journalist first revealed that dad-of-seven Abramovich was due to wed his third wife, Dasha Zhukova — who he was married to from 2008 to 2018.
    Blues plea to government
Chelsea have submitted a number of requests to the government to lift some of the sanctions placed on the club this week.
Owner Roman Abramovich had his assets frozen on Thursday, preventing Chelsea from conducting business activity.
One of Chelsea’s biggest concerns with the sanctions is the fact it bans them from conducting transfer-related activity, including the renewal of players’ contracts.
Chelsea were given a special license to continue playing but the club want changes made to it, according to The Telegraph.
A key amendment is to allow contracts to be renewed with the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen entering the final few months of their deals.
    Howe issues Chelsea caution
Chelsea face off against Newcastle on Sunday, with reports they are the brink of administration and face an uncertain future.
With the UK government placing sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich, the club has been left in turmoil.
But Toon boss Eddie Howe doesn’t believe that will distract the Blues on the pitch.
“I don’t think it will have any bearing on Chelsea and how they play,” Howe said.
“We can’t change our preparation in any way. I’ll be watching Chelsea historically and trying to build a game plan to try to go there and win.
“I don’t expect anything on the pitch to be any different.”
    Keeping Saul
Chelsea will do everything in their power to keep on-loan midfielder Saul Niguez, according to reports, if UK government sanctions allow them.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder has started to turn the corner at Stamford Bridge after a disastrous start to life at Stamford Bridge.
And now it’s believed the Blues want to keep hold of the Spaniard, with Thomas Tuchel recently admitting he had turned things around in England.
He said: “I think he will be an important player for us and I hope so as well. He has showed what he can do with his abilities.
“I see more confidence in him with each game, he is in good shape and his adaptation to the way we play has gone further from before.
“You can see this in his game now. He is more open, he understands the language better now and these are all important things to consider when talking about Saul and how much he has improved recently.
“He is having much more impact on games than he was doing at the beginning of the season and this is very important.”
    Werner might leave, says Merson
Timo Werner could be sacrificed amidst Chelsea’s financial woes, according to Arsenal legend Paul Merson.
Merson told Sportskeeda: “Chelsea are in a bit of a situation at the moment. Rudiger’s gone anyway – you don’t refuse to sign a contract and lose eighty grand a week for nothing.
“When players don’t sign contracts, you can take it for granted that they’ll leave more often than not.
“Where can you take Chelsea from here? They’re the champions of Europe and they’ve won everything.
“Whoever buys Chelsea at this point will probably just lose money. They’ll have to start selling players – if they can get their money back for Timo Werner, they’ll probably sell him too.”
    Chelsea fan’s disappointment
A 70-year-old Chelsea fan is walking away from the club after 62 YEARS of support over the Roman Abramovich ownership crisis.
Pat, who was born around the corner from Stamford Bridge, has instead chosen to get behind League Two Sutton United.
peaking through tears, Pat told talkSPORT: “I’ve been a Chelsea fan for 62 years, I started supporting Chelsea in the 50s and I’m absolutely…
“Listen, what some Chelsea fans have been doing is unforgivable. We’ve got to stand up and be counted but I’ve now, myself and my twin brother, we’ve walked away from Chelsea.
“This is true, he went out yesterday and he bought two shirts for Sutton United.
“He phoned me up and said, ‘I’ve got two shirts here’, and asked them who they were for and he said ‘Sutton United. We can’t carry on supporting Chelsea”.
    Luky escape
Romelu Lukaku is prepared to take a wage cut to leave Chelsea and return to Inter Milan, according to reports.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Belgium star is willing to leave the Blues, where he is paid £10.5million-per-year, for what the Serie A giants previously paid him – £7.5million.
However, the move rests on three factors.
A sale of the club needs to go through, a loan offer has to be accepted and the striker has to lower his wage demands.
    Hyundai suspends Chelsea sponsorship
Hyundai have become the latest sponsor to pull out of their Chelsea deal.
The Blues are in crisis mode after owner Roman Abramovich was hit with sanctions from the UK government, which have plunged the club into financial uncertainty.
Now their sleeve sponsors have suspended ‘marketing and communications activities’ with the west Londoners, according to the Daily Mail.
Next season would have been the final year of their £50million deal, which has seen Abramovich’s club make £10m per season.
Hyundai released the following statement: “In the current circumstances, we have taken the decision to suspend our marketing and communication activities with the Club until further notice.”
    Goldstein part of Boehly/Wyss consortium
Jonathan Goldstein has joined Todd Boehly and Hansjorg Wyss in their bid to buy Chelsea, according to reports.
Boehly – who is a part-owner of the LA Lakers and LA Dodgers – announced his interest in buying the Blues along with Swiss billionaire Wyss last week.
And Goldstein, who has worked with Boehly for eight years, will now support the bid, according to Sky News.
The London-based property developer is co-founder and CEO of Cain International, which has assets worth £8.2billion.
His personal wealth is not known.
Goldstein is said to be a Tottenham fan and tried to buy Spurs in 2014 through Cain.
    U18’s doing the club proud
It’s not all doom and gloom at Chelsea.
After all, their talented U18s have reached the final of the Premier League Cup.
The Blues youth side defeated Stoke City 5-1 – with Eton College genius Tudor Mendel-Idowu netting twice.

    Graffiti removal at Stamford Bridge

The writing read: “Europe is funding the war – not CFC.”
It comes after Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government, freezing his assets – including Chelsea.
Abramovich had his assets frozen due to Russia’s invasion of neighbouring Ukraine and his ties to President Vladimir Putin.
As a result of the sanctions, Chelsea cannot sell home or away match tickets.
Chelsea also cannot buy or sell players, and they cannot renew players’ contracts – running the risk of losing three key centre backs.
    Who is Muhsin Bayrak?
Muhsin Bayrak, 50, is a Turkish billionaire who made his money as Chairman of own company AB Group Holding, which has invested in tourism, cryptocurrency and construction.
There are suggestions that Roman Abramovich may have travelled to Turkey last week – before sanctions were laid – in order to discuss details of the sale to the tycoon.
Bayrak, worth a reported £8bn, has also vowed to ‘fly the Turkish flag in London soon’.

    Who is Todd Boehly?
Todd Boehly is the current chairman and CEO of Eldridge Industries – a private investment firm based on the East Coast.
Boehly is part-owner of both the LA Lakers and LA Dodgers and is just one of several interested parties in Chelsea.
The philanthropist will be ready for the fight to win a bidding war, having been part of his school wrestling team which won state tournament titles in 1990 and 1991.

    Who is Jamie Reuben?
Jamie Ruben, 34, is worth a casual £12billion and is one of the potential buyers after Chelsea.
His dad and uncle bought a ten per cent stake in Newcastle United last year and he was added to the board of directors.
But Jamie Reuben is a Chelsea fan and would relish the chance to take ownership.

There would be a number of complications due to his mega-rich family’s interest and control at St James’ Park.
Reuben Jr is pals with Boris Johnson, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and Jamie Redknapp and owns a swanky £65million yacht.
Blues fear mass exodus, warns Ferdinand
Rio Ferdinand fears Chelsea’s current chaos could lead to a host of players departing.
Speaking prior to Liverpool’s 2-0 win away at Brighton, the BT Sport pundit claimed that the situation is causing ‘anxiety and fear’.
He said: “If you take it back to the players, that uncertainty leads to anxiety and fear and not knowing is always the worst case scenario and that’s where these players sit.

“There will be players sitting there who are coming out of contracts going ‘there’s no way I’m staying’.
“That could be a driver for a mass exodus of players who are saying we are potentially losing our best players, we could’ve re-signed.
“There are so many questions and moving parts it makes it difficult to really want to commit to a situation like that.”
    Sanction changes by DCMS
The new terms will allow the club to utilise payments due from broadcasting companies and any prize money earned to meet its outgoings.
That should see the £28m monthly wage bill covered for the final three months of the campaign.
As reported earlier, the ‘reasonable costs’ section has been amended, allowing them to spend up to £900k to host games at Stamford Bridge.
They are still limited to £20k travel to and from fixtures, which could be extremely difficult for foreign trips.
For now, though, the ban on the club selling seats in addition to the season tickets already sold has not been lifted, although that is also likely to be the subject of further discussion.
Chelsea anticipate 44,000 full houses for both tomorrow’s game with Newcastle and the match against Brentford on April 2, which were both sold out before Thursday’s bombshell.
    The government ease sanction limits
The Government has eased the terms of Chelsea’s ‘special licence’ to do business, allowing the club to finish the season.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have held a meeting with the club today.
A DCMS spokesman said: “We have said all along that we would engage with Chelsea to understand what is needed to allow upcoming games to be played to minimise the impact on the Leagues, football pyramid and fans.
“Following extensive engagement with the club on the details of their structures since the sanction was announced, we have made some further operational amendments to the licence to do so.”
    Blues bring down Trustpilot
Consumer review website Trustpilot have had to suspend additions for Three UK after it was bombarded by angry Chelsea fans.
As Abramovich was handed severe sanctions by the UK government following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the telecommunications giant suspended its £120million shirt sponsorship deal with the West Londoners.
This promoted hundreds of mischievous Blues supporters to post negative comments on the popular consumer review website – in an attempt to scare off future customers.
One person fumed: “Awful company, they try to leave as soon as anything goes bad.”
Another moaned: “No loyalty whatsoever – definitely a brand to miss.”
As the rating of Three UK bombed spectacularly to “87 per cent bad”, the long-standing Danish website decided to halt any new reviews.
More on Abramovich being removed from board
Roman Abramovich has been banned from being director of Chelsea by the Premier League.
Under Prem rules, the disqualification would normally trigger the sale of the named individual’s shareholding “within 28 days”.
But Abramovich has already announced his intention to sell his appointed agents, the US-based Raine Group, having told potential buyers the sale is back on and that they have a deadline of Friday to register their interest.
The Prem will let the process play out without imposing the deadline limit in its regulations.
Abramovich initially wanted upwards of £3bn for his stake in the club he had run since 2003.
But now the sanctions mean Abramovich cannot get his hands on any of the cash and is effectively and unquestionably a “distressed seller”, likely to force the final asking price down even if there is a bidding war.
The latest news means Abramovich must sell Chelsea immediately.
Lukaku and Werner being watched by Barca
Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have emerged as shock Barcelona targets, with crisis-club Chelsea potentially forced to sell key players.
With the club at risk of plunging into a financial black hole, they may have to let some of their top earners go.
Lukaku is the highest-paid Chelsea player with his £325k-a-week deal while the German ex-RB Leipzig star is fourth on £270k – behind Kai Havertz and N’Golo Kante.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona could look to try and pounce.
Cut-price deals for Lukaku and Werner could be on the cards.
The pair arrived for a combined £145.5million – including a club-record £97.5m to bring the Belgian back to Stamford Bridge.

Change to ‘hosting’ costs at Stamford Bridge
James Robson of the Evening Standard has reported the change in Chelsea’s ‘special licence’ after an appeal.
The ‘reasonable costs’ section appears to have been amended, allowing them to spend up to £900k to host games at Stamford Bridge.
They are still limited to £20k travel to and from fixtures, which could be extremely difficult for foreign trips.
    Rangnick comments on the Chelsea
Boss Ralf Rangnick comments on the invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions placed on Chelsea after Roman Abramovich has been banned from being a director.
He said: “Everybody shares the same opinion, that it’s a tragedy what’s happening over there.
“I hope they can find a peaceful solution.
“With all the measures taken politically, it affects the football business and it seems to be logical to me.
“I don’t have enough inside information to speak about Chelsea.
“For me, it’s just a human tragedy, and I hope – in the next days or weeks – they can find a peaceful solution.”
I hope they can find a peaceful solutionRalf Rangnick
Abramovich no longer director of Chelsea
Roman Abramovich has been BANNED from being a director of Chelsea.
And that means he MUST sell the club immediately.
The stunning development was announced in a Premier League statement issued at lunchtime.
A Prem spokesman said: “Following the imposition of sanctions by the UK Government, the Premier League Board has disqualified Roman Abramovich as a Director of Chelsea Football Club.
“The Board’s decision does not impact on the club’s ability to train and play its fixtures, as set out under the terms of a licence issued by the Government which expires on 31 May 2022.”

Man Utd 3-2 Tottenham LIVE RESULT: Cristiano Ronaldo bags HAT-TRICK to become highest scoring player in history

MANCHESTER UNITED have secured a crucial win over Tottenham thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner bagged a hat-trick to see off fellow European contenders Spurs.
And that makes him men’s football’s all-time record scorer, according to Fifa statistics.

    Ronaldo’s expected goals was less
Cristiano Ronaldo proved he remains one of the world’s best strikers after grabbing a hat-trick in Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Tottenham.
The 37-year-old icon stole the show at Old Trafford as he starred on his return to the side having been left out of the matchday squad that lost against Manchester City.
It was the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s first United treble since 2008.
His 805th, 806th and 807th goals moved him past Josef Bican to become Fifa’s all-time top scorer.
And the Portuguese forward is now the second oldest player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League, behind only Teddy Sheringham.
To make his performance against Spurs even more impressive, Ronaldo’s expected goals (xG) for the game came in at just 0.85.
    Ronaldo’s swift exit
Stony-faced hat-trick hero Cristiano Ronaldo was first down the tunnel after sinking Tottenham – but only after asking Manchester United staff to get him his match-ball.
Recalled Ron hugged SPURS boss Antonio Conte and applauded Old Trafford fans before his swift exit increased speculation he is unsettled.
The legend mocked the decision to axe him last weekend with just his second ever treble for United – and first since January 2008.
But his sullen look afterwards added weight to suggestions he could try to quit Old Trafford in the summer.
Ronaldo was taken off on 83 minutes, shortly after his header nicked a 3-2 win.
And his dramatic departure at the final whistle came after he reportedly met with agent Jorge Mendes to discuss his future.
    Keane fires warning to Romero
Man Utd legend Roy Keane warned Tottenham’s Cristian Romero that Harry Maguire won’t forget what he did after his own goal.
Son Heung-min fed Sergio Reguilon down the left flank and the Spurs ace delivered a low cross towards Romero – but Maguire got his clearance wrong and scored an own goal on 72 minutes.
    Credit: Getty
That levelled the game at 2-2 at Old Trafford and the Argentina international was quick to rub salt in the centre-back’s wounds.
The defender appeared to be either shouting or laughing at Maguire as he was sitting down on the pitch dejected at his mistake.
But Keane, who is no stranger to heated confrontations, warned Romero that the England international will “take note of that”.
The United great told Sky Sports: “Not good. You’ll take note of that, don’t worry.”
    Bruno’s dig
Bruno Fernandes couldn’t help but poke fun at VAR after a decision for Ronaldo’s second goal went in their favour.
Fernandes was missing in action for United, and was forced to watch the game from his home.

And he would’ve been off his chair when Jadon Sancho raced on to a through pass, as Spurs players claimed offside.
The winger squared the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo to tuck home, but Tottenham’s defenders were adamant it shouldn’t have counted and asked the referee to take a look at it.
However, VAR correctly called the decision in the Red Devils favour, which Fernandes said: “Is finally work for us too” with an Instagram story of the goal.
    ‘Keep being the problem’
Patrice Evra was full of praise for pal Cristiano Ronaldo after his heroic display against Tottenham.
The Portuguese forward, 37, scored all three goals as the Red Devils overcame Spurs 3-2.
And Evra singled out the five-time Ballon d’Or winner for his display, following weeks of criticism that insisted he was the reason for United’s recent woes.
    Check out Evra’s tweet below:

    Ronaldo’s Spurs record
A sublime hat-trick from CR7 was enough to see off Spurs at Old Trafford.
That upped Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally against Tottenham in his career to 10 goals.
And it seems playing against the North London side would be ideal for the Portuguese superstar every week.
Incredibly, he’s scored more goals against them than any other Premier League side playing for Man Utd.
    Rangnick relieved at Ronaldo performance
Since I arrived, that was Ronaldo’s best performance. Energetically he was good, part of the whole team when we had to defend. A top performance by him, but also the rest of the team… It is a challenge with a player like him but he has shown today he still has the quality to play for a club like Manchester United and he is also a part of the team.Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United boss
Rangnick was full of praise for Ronaldo, paying particular attention to his team play. But he did mention “it is a challenge with a player like him”.
Whatever the future holds for Ronaldo, he has silenced a lot of critics this evening.
    Conte has his word
I don’t think we deserved to lose the game… We have to improve. We are conceding a lot from set pieces.Antonio Conte, Tottenham boss
Antonio Conte appeared understandably disheartened in his post-match interview. He thought his team deserved better, but did admit they needed to improve.
He went on to praise Ronaldo referring to him as the greatest alongside Lionel Messi. But Conte believes without him, “it wasn’t a good night for United”.
    Record breaking Ronaldo
    Number 807.

With 59 hat-tricks along the way!
Not bad Cristiano, not bad at all.
    FULL-TIME – Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham
    Wow, take a breath!
Hat-Trick hero Ronaldo, leads United to a much needed win at Old Trafford.

    What a game.
Spurs came close on several occasions, but in the end, weren’t clinical enough in front of goal.
In contrast, Ronaldo’s superb finishing means the Red Devils jump into fourth place, two points above Arsenal, despite playing four more games.
    Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham
93, Everyone is back behind the ball for United, and it’s floated into to De Gea who spots Sancho at the other end.
It’s played to Cavani who slides it back into Sancho, but the distraction of Romero’s sliding challenge sees it go wide.
Last roll of the dice for Spurs, now.
    Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham
90, The board goes up for 5 minutes of added time, and a nervous cheer and mutter rings round the stadium.
Spurs will pile men forward, now.
    Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham
88, Kane finds himself wide and chips the ball towards the box, but it lands on the roof of the net. Poor from a player of his quality.
Not long for united to hold on, now.
Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham – Spurs double substitution
87, Ben Davies is replaced by Steven Bergwijn and Bentancur is off for Harry Winks.
    Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham
86, Son’s delivery from the free kick is right on the money, but no one in white can reach it and it’s a free kick to United.
Kane is back on his feet and moving normally.

80, Ronaldo’s done it again! Extraordinary!
Telles swings in the corner, and the Portuguese jumps higher than everyone to head the ball powerfully into the top corner.

Any United chances are falling at the feet of the 37-year-old.
    Manchester United 2-2 Tottenham
72, Spurs are right back in this!
Kane does brilliantly to hold on to possession on the edge of the area. He lays the ball off and it’s played wide to Son who drills a low ball across the area towards Romero.
In an attempt to block it, the ball spins off Maguire’s boot into his own net.
In truth, it had been coming.
What a finish we have here!

Roman Abramovich ‘to SELL Chelsea despite sanctions’, Blues ‘face financial ruin’ as Barclays freeze club account

CHELSEA could face financial ruin after having a number of their corporate accounts frozen by ‘risk-averse’ banks.Barclays are one of the banks to have suspended the Blues account.
And it has been reported that Roman Abramovich has given the green light to a sale of Chelsea with bids to be taken next week.
This is despite the Russian not being able to earn a penny from any sale due to sanctions.
In his press conference, boss Thomas Tuchel admitted that many players and staff were worried about their futures.
But there has been some good news for Chelsea fans as Nike are reportedly set to stand-by their kit deal with the club.
Meanwhile the Blues may be allowed to continue selling tickets to non-season ticket holders and away fans if they donate the profits from the sales to victims of the war in Ukraine.
Roman Abramovich has been BANNED from selling the club by the government amid sanctions on Russian oligarchs.
Shirt sponsor Three have also suspended their deal with the Blues, asking for their logo not to appear on shirts for the foreseeable future.
It comes as New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and a private Saudi consortium had joined the race to buy the club.
Billionaire Abramovich is said to have had over 300 parties express their interest in buying the Blues he values at £3billion.

    Gallagher in talks with Chelsea
Crystal Palace loanee Conor Gallagher has confirmed that he is still in contact with his parent club Chelsea.
Gallagher has impressed in the Premier League while on loan at Selhurst Park this season.
And a return to Stamford Bridge can’t be ruled out amid the Blues’ financial crisis.
Gallagher told the Evening Standard: “Chelsea talk to me and keep an eye on me”
    Green light to sell
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has given the green light for the sale of the club to go ahead with bids now expected to be considered by the end of next week.
According to the Telegraph, Abramovich has instructed the merchant bank Raine to go ahead with the sale, despite being hit by sanctions that effectively take the process out of his hands.
That is very promising news for the fans, as the Blues were facing financial ruin had the Russian pulled the plug on the sale.
Both Raine and the west Londoners have held talks with the UK government over how the sale can go ahead and have agreed that the preferred bidder and the use of profit from the sale will require government approval
    Frank Lampard’s message
Everton manager Frank Lampard reacted to the current events surrounding his former club Chelsea.
Lampard said: “”I don’t know the specifics about it other than what I read.
“But I managed there for nearly two years and played there for more than 13.
“I care about the fact the fans who were at the beginning, before and will be after”

    Tuchel on sanctions
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel believes it is “way too early” for conclusions following the government’s sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich.
Tuchel said: “It’s maybe way too early to talk about it. I don’t know exactly the rules about the current situation and I think, as the statement said from the club, there are negotiations and talks going on about the licence. So let’s see what’s coming.
“It makes not a lot of sense for me to comment on the situation now and give an outlook to the future in the summer.
“I trust in everybody who is in charge, I trust people who are in charge in the government to find a solution that keeps us going through the season, and gives us the possibility to be in charge of our actions in the summer.
“I think this is what we can do now. We were all surprised by the news and it is too early to have an outlook on the summer I guess”
    Government on Chelsea sale
The government is adamant they will refuse any sort of sale involving Chelsea if Roman Abramovich profited in any way.
Digital minister Chris Philip revealed: “As the licence conditions are written today the sale would not be allowed.
“If a buyer emerged then it would be open to that buyer or to the football club to approach the Government and asked for the licence conditions to be varied in a way that allowed that sale to take place.
“But to be clear, no proposal would be accepted which saw the proceeds of any sale ending up in an unrestricted bank account owned by Abramovich.
“He can’t benefit from the proceeds of any sale”
    More background info
Chelsea staff are fearful of what’s next following the government’s sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich, which leave the club in financial turmoil.
A source told The Athletic: “People are worried about their jobs. No one knows what’s going on.”
Chelsea chiefs have asked the government to ease sanctions to allow them to sell the club in a desperate bid to avoid going bankrupt.
And the government will allow Abramovich to pass on ownership of the club as long as he doesn’t see a single penny from the sale
    Get the Chel out
A Chelsea star’s agent is wondering if they can get their client out of Stamford Bridge in the summer after the sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich.
Staff and players were left stunned by the bombshell sanctions – which currently prevent Abramovich from cashing in on the club and players being bought or sold.
And prior to the full list of sanctions being unveiled, one Chelsea ace’s agent asked The Athletic: “Can I still get him out of there in the summer?”
As it stands, the only players who are set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer are those who will be out of contract at the end of the campaign.
And a close friend of a senior player reckons the west Londoners’ out-of-contract stars will be thrilled they didn’t commit their futures to the club.
They said: “I bet they are delighted they haven’t signed anything now. They can get away from this mess”

    Free agents’ status
Chelsea aces Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta look set to become free agents as the Blues won’t be able to hand out new contracts as per sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Rudiger has been targeted by three clubs whereas Christensen and Azpilicueta could join Barcelona.
Romano tweeted: “Chelsea contracts situation. Andreas Christensen has decided to join Barca.
“Rudiger has been approached by three clubs and he will decide soon. Azpilicueta has Barca proposal on the table [until 2024].
“Jorginho was waiting for an answer – his deal runs out in 2023”
    Chelsea’s Rud Awakening
Antonio Rudiger has been approached by three clubs amid sanctions imposed on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
Abramovich had his assets frozen by the government on Thursday morning due to his alleged ties with president Vladimir Putin.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Rudiger has been approached by three clubs and will decide his future soon.
The Germany international has previously been linked with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid
    Just do it
Nike will remain partnered with Chelsea despite owner Roman Abramovich’s government sanctions.
It comes after shirt sponsors Three announced they are suspending their deal with the Blues on Thursday.
But according to The Athletic, kit manufactures Nike have told the west Londoners they will stick by them despite suggestions they were considering the partnership.
The two parties agreed a 15-year, £900million deal back in 2016 as Adidas were replaced.
With nine years remaining, it meant Chelsea would have lost £540m if Nike, who make match kits, training gear and replica kits, walked away.
    New Chelsea logo?
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel would be happy if the club displayed a peace message on the front of their shirts.
This comes after mobile phone company Three has suspended its shirt sponsorship with the club and has asked for its logo to be removed.
The logo still appeared on the front of the shirts for Thursday’s 3-1 victory at Norwich but it will be removed ahead of Sunday’s home game with Newcastle.
Tuchel said: “We can always wear a message for peace. It can never be the wrong message.
“When it’s a big storm you dig in, you hold together, you stay strong and go through it. But a message for peace can never be wrong”

    Rule of three
Chelsea have received three bids from American-led groups looking to buy the club amid sanctions imposed on owner Roman Abramovich.
Abramovich can still sell the Blues despite his assets being frozen as ‘an application for a licence to sell the club would be considered’ by the government.
The Russian would not see any of the cash – instead, he would have to hand over the whole process to the UK government, who then would determine where the money goes.
According to the Telegraph, Raine, the New York-based bank handling a potential sale, have received almost 150 enquiries but so far three have emerged as the most serious and all are from the US.
Todd Boehly, together with Hansjorg Wyss and another businessman, have made an official offer between £2billion and £2.5bn.
The other two parties are the Ricketts family, who own the Chicago Cubs, and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson.
    Solhekol addresses Chelsea account freeze
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol reported: “Chelsea’s bank accounts with Barclays have been temporarily suspended.
“We have been told that Barclays need time to assess the licence that Chelsea have been given that allows Chelsea to continue their football related activities.
“Chelsea are hopeful that the suspension put in place by Barclays will be lifted shortly.
“But the issue Barclays have got is the bank account is in the name of Chelsea. Chelsea are owned by Roman Abramovich.
“He is sanctioned by the UK Government. No one in the UK, including Barclays, is allowed to do business with Roman Abramovich.
“If they give Chelsea access to those accounts, how can they be sure that Chelsea will only spend that money on what the Government have said Chelesea are allowed to spend their money on.
“This is very, very serious for Chelsea. Even though we are being told they hope the suspension will be lifted shortly”
    ‘Bank accounts frozen’
Chelsea’s bank accounts have reportedly been frozen to leave them in financial uncertainty following the sanctions placed on owner Roman Abramovich.
That is according to The Times, who state sources at the Premier League club, who were given a licence to still operate, have ‘warned the club’s corporate accounts, including credit cards, have been frozen’ as the banks are being ‘risk-averse’.
The source was quoted as saying: “The licence allows the club to continue with day-to-day activities but the banks don’t have the risk appetite for it.
“They’ve frozen some of the corporate credit cards. It’s put a lot more pressure on the club”
    Sale term reminder
Roman Abramovich has been given 81 days to sell Chelsea or risk the club folding, according to SunSport’s Martin Lipton.
Chelsea face a £106million financial black hole — with shirt sponsors Three suspending their £40m-a-year contract, and £66m of Premier League and UEFA prize money set to be withheld.
And the ‘licence’ that will allow the club to play on to the end of the season will NOT be renewed unless Abramovich, who valued the club at £3bn, agrees a sale and walks away without a penny.
The Blues have been told a deal must be agreed before the licence runs out on May 31 to guarantee the survival of the club

    On shirt notice
Three have suspended their £120million shirt sponsorship contract with Chelsea after the UK government’s crackdown on owner Roman Abramovich.
A statement read: “In light of the Government’s recently-announced sanctions, we have requested Chelsea Football Club temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club including the removal our brand from the and around the stadium until further notice.
“We recognise that this decision will impact the many fans who follow their team passionately.
“However, we feel that given the circumstance, and the Government sanction that is in place, it is the right thing to do.
“As a mobile network, the best way we can support the people of Ukraine is to ensure refugees arriving in the UK from the conflict and customers currently in Ukraine can stay connected to the people who matter to them.
“Therefore, we are offering connectivity packages to all Ukrainians arriving in the UK, and those in the Ukraine”
    Chelsea official statement
Chelsea broke their silence yesterday with the below statement after owner Roman Abramovich was hit with sanctions by the UK government following Russia’s unjust invasion of Ukraine.
It read: “By virtue of his 100 per cent ownership of Chelsea FC plc and affiliated entities, Chelsea FC would normally be subject to the same sanctions regime as Mr Abramovich.
“However, the UK Government has issued a general licence that permits Chelsea FC to continue certain activities.
“We will fulfil our men’s and women’s team fixtures today against Norwich and West Ham, respectively, and intend to engage in discussions with the UK Government regarding the scope of the licence.
“This will include seeking permission for the licence to be amended in order to allow the Club to operate as normal as possible.
“We will also be seeking guidance from the UK Government on the impact of these measures on the Chelsea Foundation and its important work in our communities.
“The Club will update further when it is appropriate to do so”
    Juventus open talks with Rudiger
Juventus have opened negotiations with Antonio Rudiger over a free transfer.
Calciomercato claims the Italians are eager to land Chelsea’s star defender when his contract expires this summer.
Rudiger is believed to have firm offers from three top clubs so far.
And Juventus are also keen on signing Blues teammate Christian Pulisic.
    Prem XI of free agents
Numerous Premier League stars are out of contract this summer.
And together, they make a pretty impressive starting XI.
Would this team be able to win the title?

    Rangnick urges caution over Chelsea
Ralf Rangnick has warned about a pile-on against Roman Abramovich.
The Man Utd boss said: “I don’t have enough inside info to speak about what’s happening at Chelsea. If you look at the bigger picture it’s just a human tragedy and I very, very much hope in the next days and weeks they can find a peaceful solution.
“Anyone in this room or wherever, could anybody foresee what was happening there in the last three or four weeks. Nobody could expect that to happen.
“We should be very careful to blame somebody for that, Roman Abramovich has been the owner at Chelsea, but also at Arsenal and Everton there were ownership shares by Russian oligarchs.
“Right now, in England and Germany and other European counties, it does not affect us directly yet. But I would be surprised if the war went on if it doesn’t affect us.”
    Tuchel backs new shirt logo
Thomas Tuchel will be happy if the club displays a peace message on the front of their shirts.
Mobile phone company Three has suspended its shirt sponsorship with the club and has asked for its logo to be removed.
He said: “We can always wear a message for peace. It can never be the wrong message.
“When it’s a big storm you dig in, you hold together, you stay strong and go through it. But a message for peace can never be wrong.”
Breaking – ‘mass clear-out’ at Chelsea
Premier League rivals are on red alert, with experts predicting Chelsea will be forced into selling top stars to stay afloat.
The Blues are facing a financial blackhole, which could allow the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal to plunder their squad.
Footy financial expert Rob Wilson told Sky Sports: “I think that’s the real threat for the football club.
“If we park the potential administration if they can’t pay those players over the short term, I think over the summer we’re going to see a number of players having to, probably, be sold.
“Chelsea lost over £400million over the last five years, notwithstanding Covid.
“So the fundamentals of the club are not particularly great and those players may well move on.”
    Tuchel odds to United slashed
Bookies have slashed the odds on Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel becoming Man United’s next manager.
But ex-Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino is favourite, with the Argentine expected to be axed by PSG.

    Mauricio Pochettino – 6/4
    Erik ten Hag – 11/4
    Thomas Tuchel – 7/2
    Antonio Conte – 10/1
    Ralf Rangnick – 16/1
    Diego Simeone – 20/1
    Simone Inzaghi – 20/1

    Tuchel remains focused on job
Thomas Tuchel admits all he can do is to try and help Chelsea keep winning amid uncertainty over the club’s future.
He said: “Always, the best way is to carry on winning. Also, for us, it’s maybe in the moment a bit more difficult because of the noise.
“But we can still enjoy what we are doing and we must still follow the responsibility to give everything, and what we demand of ourselves.
“This is what we do and I’m happy we can still produce results and performances. We will be on it again to be ready for Sunday.”
    Tuchel admits Chelsea players ‘scared’
Thomas Tuchel claims Chelsea players and staff are “frightened” and “scared” over the crisis which has gripped the club.
The German said: “Some players will feel uncertainty. Some maybe will be a bit frightened. Some will be concerned. It’s normal. And not only the players.
“We have a lot of people on the staff, in the club who are maybe also worried and scared and uncertain.
“That’s why it’s very important that we keep the trust and the belief in the training centre, in all of us.
“We rely on ourselves and in the end allow ourselves to be the guys who take care of the sport. We did not cause the situation. We cannot solve the situation.”
