Chelsea vs Arsenal build-up, Tuchel BLASTS Arteta’s fixture comments, Palace double swoop – takeover news

CHELSEA return to Premier League action tonight when they welcome a out-of-form Arsenal to Stamford Bridge. And Thomas Tuchel is not happy with his opponent in the dugout tonight.
Mikel Arteta has complained about a congested fixture list despite playing 16 games less than Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are hoping to extend the contract of Blues loanee Conor Gallagher as well as luring Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Selhurst Park.
Keep up to date with all of the latest updates from the takeover in our live blog…
    Decision time
The three consortiums bidding to buy Chelsea have reportedly been asked to submit further details about their business plan and how they intend to fund the club.
Raine, the bank overseeing the sale, are seeking greater detail from the bids fronted by Todd Boehly, Sir Martin Broughton and Stephen Pagliuca.
The trio submitted their binding improved offers last week but have now been asked to provide forecasts and answer questions put to them by Raine, report The Telegraph.
It is not clear whether this step to intake further information will delay the bidding process – deadlines have been flexible and occasionally put back to accommodate the interested parties.
It is believed a decision on the preferred buyer could still be made this week but Chelsea are keen to complete due diligence on the three consortiums.
Blues chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaia are part of the group deciding who gets to buy the club, and will be keen to safeguard both the club’s future and Roman Abramovich’s legacy.
    Marcos Alonso on tonight’s game
“For some reason I have more goals against London teams, maybe it’s that different feeling of a London derby or maybe just coincidence, but it’s a good feeling.
“I am always happy to help the team with goals and it would be a pleasure to score another one. London derbies do feel different, even more so when it’s against a team like Arsenal.
“It will be a very good game for the fans and hopefully one we can get another win and make a statement.”

    London calling
In the 2020 summer window, Willian became the latest star to officially play for both Arsenal and Chelsea.
The Brazilian, 31, swapped the blue for red as he joined an ever-growing list of player to move across London.
From Petr Cech and Ashley Cole to Nicolas Anelka and Olivier Giroud, those players could form a handy team of their own.
Check our combined best XI of players to have starred in both the red of Arsenal and blue of Chelsea… with Willian just about making the cut.

    “He just needs to play”
Former England defender Glen Johnson has advised Conor Gallagher to make the right decision in terms of what club he plays for next season.
When speaking to Bettingods.com, he said: “Gallagher’s been doing well, impressing pretty much everyone. You just hope that he doesn’t go back to Chelsea and not get game time and that will slow his progress down.
“That’s going to be a tough one. For me he just needs to play. This is when they get some nice form and learn their trade a bit more.
“In terms of work rate, he works his socks off and it’s great to see.
“If I was Conor Gallagher and I had the choice of either remaining at Crystal Palace for another season on loan, trying to force your way into the first team at Chelsea, or making a move elsewhere, I would go back to Chelsea, fight for my place during pre-season – if you have a good pre-season then you could gauge how likely it is that you’re going to play – and if I wasn’t having a good pre-season then I would go back out on loan: go back, work hard, see what happens.”

    Tuchel reacts to Mount comments
Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has claimed that it is “definitely time” for the club to win a cup final.
He said: “It’s definitely time for us to win a final at Wembley.
“For me it is five finals, so we have to put the pressure on us to step up. We remember those defeats and now it is time to get payback.”
Thomas Tuchel has since echoed his comments, stating: “Good. Yeah, good!
“Of course we feel it (the need to get revenge). The Carabao Cup final was so close; it wasn’t last season or two years ago. It was a few weeks ago we lost in the same stadium on a pretty similar occasion.”

    Rud Awakening
Antonio Rudiger is reportedly set to turn down a move to Man Utd.
According to Manchester Evening News, the defender is likely to reject an offer from the Red Devils because he wants to move to a club that is guaranteed Champions League football.
Rudiger is expected to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

    Repeating History?
Chelsea are looking to avoid an unwanted 29-year streak when they welcome Arsenal to Stamford Bridge tonight.
If Mikel Arteta’s top four-chasing team that are successful, then that would make some unwanted history for the Blues.
It would be the first time since 1993 that they would have lost three successive home matches in all competitions.
And the third game of that run was also against Arsenal.
Both Alan Smith and Ian Wright were on the scoresheet that day nearly three decades ago.
However, Chelsea are also looking to record their first Premier League double over Arsenal since the 2015/16 season.
They triumphed 2-0 at the Emirates back in August.
    Taking the Mik
Thomas Tuchel has told Mikel Arteta to pipe down after moaning about Arsenal’s fixture pile-up – with Chelsea having played 16 MORE matches this season.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s clash, Tuchel said: “He must have reasons if he felt this way – but he also cannot compare to us in minutes.
“We can use it as an excuse, they can use it. You use the situation how you want.
“You can use it to feel tired and say we feel the challenge mentally and physically.
“And from there it is a given to be used as an excuse if things go wrong.
“Or just accept it – this is what we try to do.”
Tuchel continued: “I was not happy when Tottenham went out of the Europa Conference League…
“I know what Antonio Conte can do with teams when they are focused and he can train them physically.
“The same for Arsenal when they went out of the FA Cup.
“This would be a huge boost for them because they have a very young and talented team, to focus on one thing can be an advantage.”

    Feeling Blue
Chelsea loanee Emeron Palmieri has revealed he would have “no problem” staying at Lyon beyond the end of the campaign.
The left-back joined the French outfit last summer on a season-long switch.
And he now feels at home in the south of France.
The Italian international, 27, has suggested he would be open to quitting Chelsea this summer.
Emerson was quizzed on Tuesday regarding his future, and didn’t rule out a permanent transfer to the Ligue 1 side.
He said, as quoted by FootMercato: “Of course, yes, I have no problem saying that I can stay at Lyon.
“It’s a pleasure to be here. There are different factors. It’s not just up to me.”

    Double Swoop
Crystal Palace want to extend Conor Gallagher’s loan from Chelsea – while they may also move for his team-mate Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Loftus-Cheek has recently enjoyed a revival at the Blues, playing a number of different positions, and is hoping to secure more regular action.
Steve Parish, chairman of the Eagles, has revealed that he will make an attempt to bring Loftus-Cheek back should he fail to keep Gallagher.
When quizzed on whether competition for places at Chelsea could help them to retain Gallagher, Parish told The Mirror: “Of course. But the player is the number one person.
“He knows exactly what his priorities are and he knows exactly what he’s doing.
“I’m sure at the end of the season. Conor will work out what he thinks the best thing for him is and that will be the catalyst for it.”
Parish added: “If there’s an opportunity to get him or even Ruben Loftus-Cheek then of course.
“These are top players and it’s been brilliant having him here this year, not just because of what he does on the pitch.
“Also because of the way he is around the place, the way he is with the media and supporters and because of how special a lad he is.”
“The game is for spectators and supporters”
There will be a reduced crowd at Stamford Bridge this evening as only season ticket holders will be allowed entry.
This is due to the sanctions that have been placed on the club.
When speaking about the issue at his press conference, Thomas Tuchel said: “It’s not an advantage. We want to play home matches in front of a full stadium.
“The game is for the spectators and supporters so that’s bad news actually. I was not aware of it. Maybe someone told me and I forgot it, this is possible. But let’s turn things around on it.
“Maybe everybody (the supporters) are aware of this and push a little bit more because we lack quantity but should not lack quality of support.
“I can only remind everybody of the match against Leicester last season of the Covid situation – it was first occasion spectators were allowed at the Bridge. There was like 15,000 and all the players said it felt like a full stadium.
“Hopefully, we can be the spark to bring everybody into that kind of mood to give a little bit more than normal.”
    Chilwell returns to training
Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Ben Chilwell will gradually return to training in the next few weeks.
He will start with the academy before eventually integrating back into the first team by the end of the season.
In yesterday’s press conference, Tuchel said: “I don’t think we will rush this. Ben will now be in the transition to join academy training, to have team training but not on the physicality level like with us.
“This will be his next steps in the next weeks. Hopefully he can join our training at the end of the season but no matches on that level.”
Chilwell suffered a partial ACL tear during Chelsea’s Champions League group stage match against Juventus last year.

Tuchel: Don’t complain about game time Mikel
Thomas Tuchel has told Mikel Arteta Arsenal’s fixture congestion is nowhere near that of Chelsea’s, revealing the Blues have played 16 MORE games than tonight’s opponents.
Tuchel said: “He must have reasons if he felt this way — but he also cannot compare to us in minutes.
“We can use it as an excuse, they can use it. You use the situation how you want.
“You can use it to feel tired and say we feel the challenge mentally and physically.
“And from there it is a given to be used as an excuse if things go wrong. Or just accept it — this is what we try to do.
“I was not happy when Tottenham went out of the Europa Conference League because I know what Antonio Conte can do with teams when they are focused and he can train them physically.
“The same for Arsenal when they went out of the FA Cup — this would be a huge boost for them because they have a very young and talented team, to focus on one thing can be an advantage.”
    More Tuchel on Lukaku
“It is disappointing for him and not what we expected — but it is still not finished and we will not give in.
“We never give in with any players and we never give up.
“We will push him, we will push as far as we can.
“And as long as the player stays involved in the mentality that is needed to bring a team forward, he can still be a crucial player.”
Tuchel eager to keep trying Luk
Thomas Tuchel wants Romelu Lukaku to keep his mind on the job to save his Chelsea career, writes ANDREW DILLON.
The misfiring striker, 28, comes full circle tonight in the home clash against Arsenal.
Club-record signing Lukaku kicked off his second stint at the Blues last August with a goal in a 2-0 win that triggered a blistering run.
But the return game sees the £97.5million Belgian fighting for his future — after a string of important misses and no Premier League goals this year.
Boss Tuchel said: “For us it is clear, we can play with Romelu, we can be very strong with Romelu, we proved it.
“We will prove it again if he is involved and keeps involved mentally.
“If he stays involved in the situation to get through this, he can grow from it and come back stronger.”
    Good morning Chelsea fans
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has given injury updates on three of his players ahead of tomorrow’s London derby with Arsenal.
The German told a pre-match press conference: “Kova (Mateo Kovacic) is out for the game with a ligament injury. Hopefully, he will not be longer than two weeks out.
“This is a long time for us in terms of games. Hopefully, as short as possible.
“Callum Hudson-Odoi is out for this game, and Ben Chilwell is out for the game.
“There are some players in doubt which we need to examine, but hopefully the rest are OK.”
Tuchel also admitted it is unfortunate they will have a reduced crowd at Stamford Bridge tomorrow for the visit of Arsenal.
Sanctions placed on the club mean the number of fans will be limited to about 25,000 season ticket holders in the 40,000-capactiy ground.
The German tactician told a pre-match press conference: “It’s not an advantage. We want to play home matches in front of a full stadium.
“The game is for the spectators and supporters so that’s bad news actually.”
Meanwhile, Mason Mount has been told he talks too much by ex-Liverpool star Jose Enrique after the Chelsea star claimed the Blues will beat the Reds in the Fa Cup final.
Enrique said of Mount: “This guy talks a lot. He did it to Toni Kroos as well [prior to Chelsea’s exit in the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid].
“Let’s see what happens in the final. At the moment you already lost one against us this season. Come on Reds!!!”
Elsewhere, Chelsea will fly out to America in July as part of their pre-season plans and face Arsenal in Orlando.
The Gunners will face London rivals Chelsea in a pre-season friendly on July 23 for the pre-season run-in.
The two teams will challenge for the Florida Cup at Camping World Stadium, which is a candidate to host games during the 2026 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher has admitted that he was disappointed at not being allowed to play for Crystal Palace against parent club Chelsea.
He said: “It was quite difficult to watch. I got over the fact that I wasn’t playing, but watching the game I was just wanting to be on the pitch and to be playing.
“You always feel part of it even when you’re not playing and not in the squad.
“I’m proud of the boys, It was a good game to watch. Chelsea played well and they were the better team on the day.”
Finally, Chelsea loanee Emerson Palmieri has revealed he would have “no problem” staying at Lyon beyond the end of the campaign.
It’s not just up to me.
“There are six matches left to play and after that I will have an answer for you all.”
    Tuchel’s plea to Chelsea fans
Thomas Tuchel told Chelsea fans to pump up the volume on Wednesday night and make up for the missing thousands against Arsenal.
Stamford Bridge will have 10,000 fewer Blues fans than normal as sanctions against Russian owner Roman Abramovich prevent Chelsea from selling home tickets.
Boss Tuchel admitted: “I was not aware of it. Maybe someone told me and I forgot it. But let’s turn things around.
“Maybe everybody can push a little bit more because we  lack quantity but should not lack quality of support.
“Hopefully, we can be the spark to bring everybody into the kind of mood to give a little bit more than normal.”
    Abraham thanks Ian Wright
Tammy Abraham has thanked Ian Wright after the striker’s assist for Roma against Napoli.
Wright praised Abraham for his contribution on Twitter.
And the ex-Chelsea ace responded: “Thanks big Unc.”
    Tuchel labels Reece James brilliant
Thomas Tuchel has labelled Reece James brilliant.
He said: “He can play both positions brilliantly. We only have him once so we need to decide but that’s the reason at the moment.
“I love him in both positions. I’m not sure (what his best position is).”
    Tuchel should let Gallagher leave
Thomas Tuchel should turn a blind eye and offload Conor Gallagher to Crystal Palace for £30million.
That’s the opinion of Noel Whelan, who told football insider: “It will be hard to ignore a player like that for Thomas Tuchel. You just can’t turn a blind eye when he’s putting in performances like that.
“I’m sure he’ll be rewarded in some way at Chelsea – and I’m sure he’ll get the opportunity to show his worth in pre-season.
“And if things don’t work out then Chelsea have still made themselves £30m. It’s a win either way.”
    Pagliuca meets Chelsea fans
Chelsea bidder Stephen Pagliuca has reportedly met with the club’s fans.
Other interested parties in buying the Blues including Todd Boehly have already visited Stamford Bridge.
And now Pagliuca has put his best foot forward also, according to Goal.
The fan groups Pagliuca’s liaised with previously slammed him for not making an effort with them.
    Werner’s happy with performances
Timo Werner feels like he’s back to his best after his recent Chelsea performances.
Werner said: “Since the Southampton game, I feel something different. The speed is back, the physical game is a bit back. So, everything is a bit back.
“So, it helps a lot to bring this performance. I’m happy, I work hard for the whole season and I will try to keep this momentum going.”
    Emerson Palmieri speaks on future
Chelsea loanee Emerson Palmieri has revealed he would have “no problem” staying at Lyon beyond the end of the campaign.
It’s not just up to me.
“There are six matches left to play and after that I will have an answer for you all.”

    Chelsea and Arsenal’s quality differences
There’s a huge gap in quality between Chelsea and Arsenal, according to Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Hasenhuttl believes the Blues’ superiority will give them the edge over Arsenal when the London sides clash on Wednesday.
The Saints boss said: “It is a Champions League winning team [Chelsea] and I think they are still a step forward from a team like Arsenal.
“They [Arsenal] have also shown some good moments this season, but I think there is still a gap to the Chelsea team from the quality – I must say this is why we could defend against them a little bit better.”

    Phil the gap

    Reds clash
Jamie Carragher trolled Gary Neville on Twitter with a hilarious video following Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Man Utd.
The clip began with with reference to a comment that Neville previously made about Thiago, where he said: “Bayern Munich never let anybody go who’s half decent.”
But, the Man Utd legend quickly responded by saying that he had “one good game against a pub team!”

    Tor-n apart
Man Utd have reportedly reignited their interest in Pau Torres as part of a massive squad overhaul this summer.
The Red Devils wanted to sign the 25-year-old defender from Villarreal last summer but opted to recruit Raphael Varane instead.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are willing to offload Eric Bailly and Phil Jones in order to facilitate Torres’ transfer.
However, Jones and Bailly are unlikely to be the only casualties at Old Trafford this summer as interim boss Ralf Rangnick revealed TEN players could exit the club when Erik ten Hag takes over.

    Ferd up
Rio Ferdinand tore into Ralf Rangnick’s flops following the humbling 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night.
The former defender raged at the current culture that has infiltrated the club in recent years.
Speaking on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “There needs to be fear, man.
“There needs to be ‘Oof if I step out of line, if I go to a nightclub on the wrong day I’m gonna get butchered’ – not only by one of the senior players but also by one of the coaches, because they have got their ear to the ground and people will tell them.
“That’s how it needs to be run – you go out in town at the wrong time, you need to be checked.”
    Ferdinand slams Man Utd
Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand has slammed his former club for their performance against Liverpool on Tuesday.
When speaking on FIVE, he said: “The whole team was a shambles.
“Defensively, every goal you can pick out and go ‘what was he doing’. Every single one of those players, you think oh my god where are you.
“No awareness, no awareness of runners or players.
“The two full-backs, [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka and [Diogo] Dalot, not following their men and [Harry] Maguire in no man’s land. Not tight to the striker, not covering the run and in the middle of nowhere. People will say you shouldn’t pick out.
“You can’t hide from the fact that it was an embarrassment yesterday.”

    Zach Attach
The 15-year-old son of Ryan Giggs is continuing his own climb to Manchester United’s first-team after recently starring on a trip to the USA.
He was part of the group that headed to Dallas, Texas earlier this month to take part in the Adidas Generation Cup.
The talented teen plays left-back, just behind the wing position his father achieved legendary status at during his playing days at Old Trafford.
And his performances have already been recognised on the international stage.
Last year he received his first call-up to Wales’ U15 squad and has now been capped at that level.

Neville continues to slam Man Utd
Following Man Utd’s defeat to Liverpool yesterday, Gary Neville ranted on his podcast that Liverpool – especially pass-master Thiago – “took the p***” out of United as the match was so easy for them.
The former England full-back said: “Liverpool toyed with Manchester United.
“Thiago was laughing when he came off, he was laughing at Manchester United all game.
“I don’t normally swear on the podcast but he took the p*** out of Manchester United tonight.
“That was so simple for the Liverpool players tonight.”
    Rangnick looks to Arsenal clash
Following yesterday’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick said that his team are now completely focussed on Saturday’s match against Arsenal.
He said: “We said that quite a few times in the past couple of weeks. We still have to be realistic.
“I don’t know how many players will be available. Hopefully we have a couple of them at least available but right now I don’t know.
“The game will take place in four days but for us it’s about the focus only on the next game.”

    “Exposed”
Man Utd’s fall from grace was “exposed” during their 4-0 thumping at Liverpool last night, claims Graeme Souness.
Appearing on Sky Sports, the 68-year-old said: “If you were to pick a (combined) strongest eleven I wouldn’t pick a Man United player in that eleven.
“You just cannot put a United player in that team and it shows how far off they are.
“Man United are a truly enormous club on the world stage, and how far they’ve dropped has been exposed again.”
Souness then put the bulk of responsibility onto the players’ shoulders.
He added: “No one holds up a mirror and asks if they’re part of the problem. Managers come and go these boys get the manager sacked for fun.
“Right now that group have taken United to where they are.
“Man United are a magnificent, one of the greatest football clubs in the world for what they’ve achieved, the disasters they’ve been through…
“They should not be struggling with a group of players like that it’s not acceptable.”
    BREAKING: Ronaldo back at Carrington
Cristiano Ronaldo was back at Manchester United’s training ground today as he was spotted for the first time since the tragic death of his son.
The Portuguese legend, 37, was seen leaving Carrington in the back of a Mercedes at 1.20pm just days after revealing the awful news to the world.
Ronaldo and his 28-year-old partner Georgina Rodriguez announced on Monday night one of their twins had died.
    Mo confusion
Mohamed Salah has denied disrespecting Man Utd after quotes from his post-match interview were taken out of context.
When speaking to Sky Sports after Liverpool’s 4-0 win over the Red Devils, he said: “I think they make our life easier in the midfield and in the back.
“They always try to give us the ball just in a situation like 1v1, so that makes our lives much easier.
“So, I think when we defend, we had a clean sheet here, a clean sheet there, so that makes our lives easier to score.
“We just go to the game and want to score one goal, then once we get the first, we want to get the second, then once we get the second, we go for third.
“I think it’s a top performance from us here and away also. We hope that we can just carry on like this.”
But, Salah has since had to clarify that he was talking about his Liverpool teammates.
He tweeted: “I meant our midfield, and our defence, make it easy for us. I was not talking about the Manchester United players whom I respect.”

    Ran away
Former Man Utd defender Gary Neville has suggested that Ralf Rangnick could leave the club BEFORE the end of the season.
After last night’s clash between the Red Devils and Liverpool, he said: “He’s ready to go, him.
“It’s only his class and his professionalism that’s stopping him telling us what he really thinks of these players. It could come.
“Arsenal away Saturday, Chelsea at home Thursday… I can’t think he’s going to keep on watching this.
“He’s alluded to it in a couple of interviews but it really is low because there was nothing in that first half.”
    “Finish 8th…” – Paul Scholes
Paul Scholes has labelled Man Utd as “unrecognisable” following their latest embarrassment – and urged them to settle for EIGHTH.
United now sit sixth in the league, behind Arsenal and Tottenham – just two points above West Ham and Wolves, should the latter win their game in hand.
Ralf Rangnick’s side could feasibly slip to eighth in the Premier League – but Scholes HOPES that’s the case.
Scholes, was so incensed after his former club’s catastrophic implosion at Anfield he shared a rare Instagram post urging the board to avoid any European football and give incoming boss Erik ten Hag time.
Alongside a picture of the Dutch manager, Scholes wrote: “Finish 8th and give this man the time he needs…
“[I’m] saddened by what’s happening… unrecognisable football club.”

    Five for Ten
Man Utd should only keep FIVE members of their current squad as they rebuild, claims former defender Mikael Silvestre.
When speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “And for the ones that need to stay for sure, I would say the backbone of the team.
“Bruno Fernandes signed a new contract, so he’s one that needs to stay.
“David de Gea, Raphael Varane who we haven’t seen much of this season, Harry Maguire needs to improve.
“I think he’s a good leader, he’s having a difficult time at the moment, but he needs to stick to United and work hard to go back to his best.
“And I would say Marcus Rashford would need to stay as well.
“Those guys I think have got United in their heart but for the rest I think there is questions marks for all of them.”
    “Won’t shift the dial”
Man Utd legend Gary Neville has reacted to the departure of two club scouts… but he doesn’t seem pleased with the move.
He took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

BREAKING: Man Utd’s two leading scouts leave Old Trafford
Man Utd’s two most senior scouts have left Old Trafford as the club prepares for a transfer overhaul under Erik ten Hag.
Chief scout Jim Lawlor and head of global scouting Marcel Bout have both left the Theatre of Dreams as the Red Devils look to change their structure.
In a statement given to The Athletic, United said: “Jim Lawlor has decided to step down from his role as Chief Scout in the Summer after 16 years with the club.
“During that time, Jim played a key role in the development of multiple trophy-winning Manchester United teams and was an important source of guidance to Sir Alex Ferguson and each of the managers who have followed him.
“Jim leaves the club with our warmest thanks for his significant contribution and our very best wishes for the future.
“Marcel Bout has departed from his role as Head of Global Scouting after eight years with the club.
“A respected figure within and outside of Manchester United, Marcel has played an important part as an assistant coach and in the strengthening of our scouting capabilities in recent years.
“Marcel leaves the club with our warmest thanks for his significant contribution and our very best wishes for the future.”
Gary Neville “proud” of Hannibal Mejbri
Neville praised the young star for his attitude when he came off the bench during Man Utd’s defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday.
He said: “To be fair at least the kid’s showing something.
“Honestly, it takes a young kid to come on and show the rest of them how to sprint to the ball and put a challenge in. I’m actually proud of him.
“Maybe he doesn’t like the idea of Liverpool passing around him, I wish the others were the same.”

    Pogba injury update
Paul Pogba was forced off just 10 minutes into yesterday’s game against Liverpool.
Ralf Rangnick has since confirmed that he had sustained a calf injury and is expected to be out for the next few weeks.
“He pulled his calf muscle and, as it seems right now, this will not be an injury like the one Fred has which will be gone in one week.
“I fear he will not be available for Arsenal or Chelsea.”

    “Nothing to lose”
Jesse Lingard has urged Man Utd players to regroup ahead of their game against Arsenal on Saturday.
He said: “There was nothing to lose. For us as players, we just had to press, stay up, stay high, press them and they’d make mistakes.
“We were doing that for the first 25, 30 minutes [of the second half] and putting Liverpool under pressure.
“We nearly created some chances from that so we’ve got to start off with the right mindset of pressing and being intense from the get-go.
“Otherwise, you’re going to fall back into shape and the other team is going to keep the ball so you’ve got to put pressure on the ball.
“Obviously Liverpool are a good team but I think in the second half we started a little bit brighter, we were on the front foot a bit more and it gave us that intensity.
“We’ve got a big game coming up. We’ve got to regroup fast this week, it’s a big three points on Saturday.
“It’s another free hit and we’ll go there with the mindset of winning, staying on the front foot, being intense, doing the basics and having that energy to go and win the game.
“We need to work hard first before you can start playing. Win your individual battles and then you’ll win the game hopefully.
“We’ll work hard throughout this week. However we train reflects how we play, so we can increase the energy and intensity in training to help that.”
    “We apologise to the fans”
Bruno Fernandes has said that Man Utd fans deserve better following Tuesday’s defeat to Liverpool.
He said: “It’s a bad result once again. Not much that I can say. Obviously, [we] apologise to the fans. It will never be enough but obviously it is what we can do now.
“They [the fans] don’t deserve that we play in this way, they deserve much more from us.
“The way they support us until the end, the way they stay even after the whistle to applaud us, they deserve much more from us.
“We have to say the things, but that has to be kept in the dressing room.
“We know there is not much we can do now the game is over. We have to think already to the next one that will be a tough one again.
“We have to look in ourselves, we have to look inside, from the top until the bottom and understand what is going wrong.”
    Fernandes holds crisis talks
Following Man Utd’s defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday evening, Bruno Fernandes held crisis talks in the Red Devils’ dressing room.
Ralf Rangnick said: “We had a conversation in the locker room right now where Bruno also said something towards the team and I said something.
“In the end, right now it doesn’t help. We have to hope for some injured players coming back for Saturday and then just take it game-by-game.
“I don’t think it helps to speculate about our chances of the top four after a performance like the one today.
“What I tell them in the locker room stays there, obviously. But in general, it is similar to what I say now.
“We were just not up to it in the first-half, we didn’t win a single second ball in most of the first-ball situations we were just spectators, onlookers.
“If you play like that against a team like Liverpool it’s difficult.”

    Rebuild
After yesterday’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick said that the club are expected to sign up to TEN players when the season ends.
He said: “There will be a rebuild here. Six, seven, maybe ten new players will come.”
Last week it was reported that the club are expected to get rid of seven players in the next transfer window.
The list includes; Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Lee Grant and Andreas Pereira.
    Fer real
Rio Ferdinand was forced to switch his TV and phone notifications off after the 4-0 loss to rivals Liverpool.
The Red Devils were taught a lesson by Jurgen Klopp’s quadruple-chasing Reds.
It took just five minutes for Liverpool to take the lead through Luis Diaz, despite playing against a back five.
Sadio Mane went on to bag himself a brace and Mohamed Salah also got on the scoresheet, capping off an excellent display from Liverpool’s magnificent front three.
But the hammering at the hands of rivals Liverpool forced club legend Ferdinand to switch his TV off.
The former defender also had to switch his phone notifications off due to the sheer embarrassment.

    Bold Claims
Piers Morgan has said that Manchester United’s performance against Liverpool was “absolutely abysmal”.
He also argued that the Red Devils would be in a relegation battle if they didn’t have Cristiano Ronaldo.

Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte press conference LIVE: Gypsy King and Body Snatcher set to FINALLY meet ahead of WBC fight

GRAB your popcorn boxing fans as Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte are set to have their first face-to-face press conference ahead of Saturday’s huge WBC fight, THIS AFTERNOON. The Body Snatcher did not attend the press conference which was held in March due to his social media blackout.
But Whyte has finally landed in the UK and is now all set to exchange a war of words with the Gipsy King.

Follow ALL the action with our live blog below…
    The domino effect in boxing
Tyson Fury initially had hoped that he was going to get a unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk but Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua interrupted proceedings.
Usyk currently holds the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO titles having beaten Joshua in September 2021.
And the Gypsy King wanted a shot at those belts but, AJ cashed in on his rematch clause against Usyk which has has been “all agreed” according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
Which opened the pathway for Dillian Whyte to challenge Fury for his WBC crown.
    What is the decided purse?
The huge WBC heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte is round the corner.
And both fighters are set to collect a healthy cheque once the contest is over.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren secured a deal worth £30 million which beat Eddie Hearn’s initial bid of £23m.
An 80/20 per cent split is agreed in the favour of WBC holder Tyson Fury though the split only relates to 90 percent of the overall winning bid (£27m) – as the promoter must deposit the other 10 percent.
Which means, the Gypsy King will take home an estimated £21m whilst Whyte receives around £5.5m
Either way, both bids were record bids in the entire history of boxing.
    Tale of the tape
This how the Gypsy King and the Body Snatcher compare in numbers across the board.
Not much to separate the two which makes for an intriguing fight.

    What has recently been said?
Besides the thrilling action in the ring, one of the highlights of boxing is the trash talking leading up to the event and Tyson Fury isn’t one to shy away from that.
The Gypsy King was not impressed that Whyte was a no-show for their scheduled press conference in March and he believes that he has got into the Body Snatcher’s head.
Fury said: “People always say I am a master of mind games but I don’t do anything intentionally, I just talk. Sometimes it’s a load of old rubbish and sometimes it’s good, most of the time, it is entertaining.
“But a lot of fighter have a fear factor that I am going to get in their head. But I’m not Doctor X, I am just a boxer.
“Dillian Whyte not getting involved has shown that I am in his head already.
The Body snatcher broke his silence to say “his mouth is like a toilet.”
“This isn’t the Tyson Fury show; this is the Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte show.
“From where I stand, it’s the Dillian Whyte and Tyson Fury show – but from where he stands, i’s the Fury-Whyte show.
    Leading up to the fight
Prior to this huge match being scheduled, Tyson Fury had to overcome American machine Deontay Wilder in one of his toughest fights to date.
The Gipsy King whose career appeared finished when he took a break from the sport more than two years ago, battled away to knock out Wilder in the 11th round.
This was their third fight which Fury had won two and the other clash ended with a split decision.
As for Dillian Whyte, the last opponent he left in his wake was Alexander Povetkin on March 27, 2021.
Whyte cruised to a 4th round TKO victory and epitomised why he is nicknamed the Body Snatcher in Boxing.
Which is how he finally got a shot at taking the WBC title off the Gypsy king.
Welcome to the Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte press conference
Good afternoon boxing fans. Time to get comfortable because it is soon time for what is expected be a fiery war of words between the Gipsy King and the Body Snatcher.
The press conference is meant to be the calm before the storm but something is telling me that this occasion is going to turn out very differently.
Dillian Whyte has been keeping up with his social media blackout for over 1000 days and failed to show up for the first scheduled presser in March.
But he has recently broken his silence to respond back to all of Fury’s trash talk ahead of their big fight on Saturday.
And now, the WBC challenger has landed in the UK where he’ll get to look Fury in his eye and tell the boxing icon what he really thinks of him.
Stay tuned because we will have all the action from the presser right here.

Thank you for reading and goodnight.

I cannot imagine how it must be, and we really feel for him.Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool boss
    Keane calls out players
Ex-Manchester United man Roy Keane, gave a dispirited speech after the game, criticising particular players’ performances on the pitch. He claimed that Rashford ‘played like a child’ up front, that Maguire ‘isn’t good enough for Man United’, and stated that the ‘team isn’t likeable’.

    Liverpool lethal once again
Despite a brief lull at the start of the second half, where Manchester United managed to launch a few attacks on Liverpool’s goal, the home side were comfortable, creative and clinical.
Thiago was a joy to watch in the middle of the park, dictating the tempo. Whilst the front three were unplayable, and ran United’s defence ragged, provided all four goals this evening.
A dominant performance against a wounded United side.

CRISTIANO RONALDO is set to miss Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool on compassionate grounds after the tragic death of his baby shortly after childbirth. The Portuguese icon and his girlfriend Georgina mentioned in October last year that they were expecting a boy and girl.
But Ronaldo announced that their baby boy sadly passed away which is something he described as the “greatest pain that any parent can feel.”
He also said: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away.”
And that their new born daughter is “giving them the strength to live.”

    Prem rivals show Ronaldo solidarity
Man Utd and Liverpool players will wear black armbands to show their respect to Cristiano Ronaldo after the passing of his baby boy.
United kick off against Liverpool at Anfield at 8 p.m. but Ronaldo will not take part – he has been granted compassionate leave by the club.
Liverpool fans have announced they will pay tribute to Ronaldo by giving him and his family a minute’s appluse in the seventh minute of the match, in recognition of his famous shirt number.
A Liverpool fan account on Facebook proposed the idea of holding a minute’s applause for Ronaldo and his family during the game.
    Ferdinand’s plea to United
Rio Ferdinand warned Manchester United’s faulty defence they could “get pumped four or five” by Liverpool unless they step it up.
Ferdinand said on his podcast: “They’re making mistakes that then has a domino effect, and then the whole back four unit and the midfielders in front become so disjointed that it’s impossible to defend.
“With that in mind, you’ve got Liverpool coming up as well, and you just think if you play like that, we will get pumped four or five.
“They have to step up. If we’re to compete with a team like Liverpool right now, we need to liven right up. Just do your jobs man.”
    Liverpool fans plan Ronaldo applause
Liverpool fans plan to applaud Cristiano Ronaldo and his family tonight after the Manchester United star lost his newborn son.
Ronaldo, 37, and partner Georgina Rodriguez, 28, announced the heartbreaking news on Monday evening.
Portugal ace Ronaldo will play no part in Manchester United’s trip to Anfield tonight.
And Liverpool fans plan on paying a touching tribute to the star man of their fiercest rival.
A Liverpool fan account on Facebook proposed the idea of holding a minute’s applause for Ronaldo and his family during the game.
They asked for fellow supporters to clap during the seventh minute – in reference to Ronaldo’s No7 jersey.
    Lewandowski transfer battle
Bayern Munich will reportedly let striker Robert Lewandowski leave this summer – sparking a transfer battle between Manchester United and Barcelona.
Lewandowski’s contract with Bayern expires at the end of the 2022/ 2023 season.
The Polish attacker is reportedly seeking a two-year contract extension and a pay-rise to remain at the Allianz Arena.
However, the Bavarian giants are only willing to offer him a year’s extension minus a salary bump, causing negotiations to break down.
But Julian Nagelsmann’s side will take no less than £33m for Lewandowski, the report also states.
The news of Bayern’s decision to offload Lewandowski is likely to spark a transfer war between European rivals Man United and Barca who have no qualms about the veteran’s age.
    Rio’s rallying call for Liverpool
Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United’s suspect defence to up their game or face humilation against Liverpool tonight.
The Red Devils were smashed 5-0 by their big Merseyside rivals in October as the sun started to set on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time as United boss.
Retired centre-half Ferdinand, 42, who became a club legend in a 12-year-spell at Old Trafford, says they must avoid a repeat display.
He told his Vibe With FIVE YouTube channel: “You’ve got Liverpool coming up as well, and you just think if you play like that we will get pumped four or five.
“They have to step up. If we’re to compete with a team like Liverpool right now, we need to liven right up. Just do your jobs man.”
    United at 80/1 for win!
William Hill are offering new customers a whooping 80/1 for Manchester United to beat big rivals Liverpool tonight.
New customers can also back Jurgen Klopp’s Reds at 25/1.

    Red faced over injury record
Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has called for an inquest into their injury crisis.
The German will take his side to title-challengers Liverpool this evening with FIVE first-team stars sidelined with knocks.
Rangnick said: “We play only in the Premier League and we have five or six players injured.
“This is also an issue that needs to be taken care of for the future.
“[We must] analyse why is this the case, why does it happen?”
    Ronaldo on compassionate leave
Manchester United’s talisman Cristiano Ronaldo will not play against Liverpool this evening following the tragic death of his baby son.
The Portugal striker, 37, told the world about his family’s heartbreaking news on Monday after newborn son passed away.
A club confirmed: “Family is more important than everything and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time.
“As such, we can confirm that he will not feature in the match against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening and we underline the family’s request for privacy.
“Cristiano, we are all thinking of you and sending strength to the family.”

    Nkunku valued at over £55m
Manchester United are going to have to stump up a king’s ransom to sign RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku, according to Bild.
The German news outlet say it will take a bid of more than £55million to land the France forward, who has scored 30 goals and provided 19 assists so far this season.
Nkunku, 24, is reportedly a favourite of United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
    Rangnick unhappy with Chelsea reschedulement
Manchester United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick says the decision to bring Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford forward by nearly three weeks is far from ideal.
The Prem clash was scheduled for May 15 but will now be played on April 28 after Chelsea booked an FA Cup final meeting with Liverpool on May 14.
It has left Champions League-chasing United with a congested run-in at a time when they have key players out injured.
Rangnick told Manchester United’s website: “For us it’s not good because we have a number of injured players so it would have been better for the Chelsea game to be played two weeks later when it was originally planned.
“But anyway we have to deal with it and hopefully by then we have two or three of those injured players available again.”
    Real or United for Rudiger?
If Antonio Rudiger does leave Chelsea this summer it seems he is likely to walk into another vital role at a top European club.
The Daily Mirror report likely incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is considering stripping Harry Maguire of their captaincy and replacing him at centre-back with Rudiger.
ESPN say “multiple sources” have told them Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti wants the 29-year-old Germany star, who will be a free agent in the summer.
Of course there is option No 3 – he stays at Chelsea, and Rudiger told The Athletic: “I feel great here, I have always said it.
“I think the way I play you can see that I’m happy here. But there are also other people who have to make decisions.”
    Rescheduled Chelsea fixture ‘angers’ United
The decision to bring Chelsea’s visit to Manchester United forward by nearly three weeks has left the Red Devils “fuming”, according to the Express.
The Prem clash was scheduled for May 15 but will now be played on April 28 after Chelsea booked an FA Cup final meeting with Liverpool on May 14.
It has left Champions League-chasing United with a congested run-in at a time when they have key players out injured.

The 26-year-old Frenchman, who joined the LaLiga side on a six-month deal in January, was chopped down by Eduardo Camavinga in the 40th minute of Sevilla’s crunch game against Real Madrid on Sunday evening.
Camavinga had already received a caution nine minutes earlier and many felt he could have been given a second yellow for the challenge.
Yet instead of dismissing the Madrid man, the referee opted to book Martial instead after he complained about Camavinga being allowed to stay on the pitch.

Tuchel SLAMS Lukaku’s fitness whilst Inter re-open the door for his possible return, Rudiger EXIT plans – takeover news

THOMAS TUCHEL has admitted that Romelu Lukaku’s match fitness remains some way off the standard required to match Chelsea’s intensity levels. The £97.5 million man was left out of the starting line-up yet once again for the 2-0 FA Cup semi-final triumph over Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, Inter have reportedly re-opened the door for Lukaku to make a shocking return in the summer having initially ruled out the swoop.
And Antonio Rudiger’s exit plans are ramping up with rumours suggesting that the German international could end up at either Manchester United or Real Madrid.
Keep up to date with all of the latest updates from the takeover in our live blog…
    Mason Mount gets slammed
Mason Mount has been told he talks too much by ex-Liverpool star Jose Enrique after the Chelsea star claimed the Blues will beat the Reds in the Fa Cup final.
    Arsenal star’s Chelsea regret
Arsenal star Eddie Nkietah is surprised Chelsea let him leave the club as a youngster.
He told the Beautiful Game podcast: “It wasn’t really my choice to be fair. I was at Chelsea from Under-10s to 14s and I got released at the end of under-14s so, it was kind of my first big set back in football,” admitted the Arsenal forward.
“It came as a bit of a surprise, to be honest. I was in the same age (group) as Declan, Mason, all these guys.
“So, when you’re young, it’s all you know. Going to Chelsea, in school you’re known as the kid who goes to Chelsea.
“It’s part of your identity, it’s hard to let go.
“It was tough to take to be fair, especially as I was doing so well at the time.”
    Crystal Palace chase Chelsea duo
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has revealed he wants to sign Chelsea duo Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Gallagher’s loan deal with the Eagles expires this summer and Parish wants him to stay put.
And Parish would also like Gallagher’s Blues team-mate to join him at the club.
Parish said: “Conor will work out what he thinks the best thing for him is and that will that will be the catalyst for it. If there’s an opportunity to get him or even Ruben Loftus-Cheek then of course.
“These are top players and it’s been brilliant having him here this year, not just because of what he does on the pitch. Also because of the way he is around the place, the way he is with the media and supporters and because of how special a lad he is.”
    Tuchel on reduced home crowd
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admits it is unfortunate they will have a reduced crowd at Stamford Bridge tomorrow for the visit of Arsenal.
Sanctions place on the club mean the number of fans will be limited to about 25,000 season ticket holders in the 40,000-capactiy ground.
Tuchel told a pre-match press conference: “It’s not an advantage. We want to play home matches in front of a full stadium.
“The game is for the spectators and supporters so that’s bad news actually.”
    Tuchel’s injury updates for Arsenal
    Lacazette update ahead of Chelsea
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says Alexandre Lacazette might be available for tomorrow’s crunch clash with Chelsea.
A positive Covid test saw the Gunners skipper miss Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Southampton.
When asked about him at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference, Arteta said: “With Lacazette, we have to see him today to see whether he will be available with the team.”
    Ferdinand backs Chelsea over Arsenal
Rio Ferdinand says he does not see Arsenal winning at Chelsea tomorrow night.
The Prem rivals will be looking to strengthen their top-four bids in a 7.45pm kick-off at Stamford Bridge.
Retired England defender and now pundit Ferdinand told the Vibe with Five YouTube channel: “It’s a massive game.
“Can Arsenal turn it around? I don’t know, it’s been a bad couple of games for them.
“Chelsea look to be back in form, got themselves in the final. Wow, I don’t see Arsenal getting a result there.”
    It is finally Timo time?
After three brilliant displays on the spin – are Chelsea finally seeing the best of Timo Werner?
The Germany star has been routinely criticised for sub-par displays and a poor goal return for the Blues since his £54million arrival from RB Leipzig two years ago.
But the greasy-quick 26-year-old striker has looked like a player reborn this month.
He has bagged three goals in matches against Southampton and Real Madrid, and produced a man-of-the-match display in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final victory against Crystal Palace.
    Lukaku to Inter link reemerges
Inter Milan have re-opened the door for a possible return for Romelu Lukaku, according to Gazetta.
The Blues’ £97.5million striker has had a difficult season back at Stamford Bridge and is struggling for regular starts.
And after previously ruling out a swoop for Lukaku, San Siro chiefs are now reportedly plotting a loan bid for their former talisman amid the chaos of protracted Chelsea’s takeover.

Manchester United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick says the decision to bring Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford forward by nearly three weeks is far from ideal.

The post at Stamford Bridge has been vacant since Michael Emenalo left the club in 2017.
And Mancunian Mitchell, 40, is being chased by at least two of the three parties left in the running to buy the Blues, say The Athletic.
German Thomas Tuchel has looked ahead to next month’s FA Cup final clash with Liverpool.
He said: “We lost of course a final against them when we gave everything and it went until the very last penalty. We were unlucky and we want to turn things around.
“We were here last season in the FA Cup final and we will be here again.
“That means an unbelievable lot to us because it’s the FA Cup, it’s prestigious, the most traditional cup in the world and played at Wembley, so there are not a lot of bigger games to be part of.
“We will be well prepared because we play against one of the strongest teams in the world that have outstanding form. So it will be a tough one and we will try to make life hard for them.”

“It’s not easy to come into a game such as this with so much riding on it after a spell out with injury.

    Chelsea match club goal record
Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s strike yesterday saw the Blues match an unusual club record.
The midfielder became the 20th Chelsea player to score this season – the joint highest number of scorers in the club’s history.
The tally matches the club’s from the 2015-16 season, during which they came tenth in the Premier League.
    Tuchel looks ahead to final
    Mount desperate for Wembley success
Chelsea ace Mason Mount is desperate to taste Wembley final success next month.
The midfielder has lost showpiece occasions under the arch while playing for Derby, England and the Blues.
After yesterday’s cup semi-final win, he said: “I haven’t had the best memories in finals at Wembley so to get to another one is an opportunity to make it right and to finally win one.
“I’ve always said that I want to win the big trophies and the FA Cup is one of the biggest.
“We know it’s going to be a very hard game against Liverpool. We watched the game yesterday and we know what they bring but every time we play them there are fireworks so it’s a fairytale game.
“Of course we remember the last final we played and we have an opportunity to put that right now.
“It’s definitely time for us to win a final at Wembley. For myself, it’s been five finals I’ve lost so now we have to put the pressure on ourselves to step up.”
    Tuchel hopes star pushes on
Thomas Tuchel is optimistic that yesterday’s goal against Crystal Palace could be huge for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The German said: “Hopefully it’s a big moment for him.
“He’s normally a very calm, very quiet guy but we saw him jumping and celebrating the goal and that is good because he’s the opposite of over-confident.
“You need to instil this confidence into his body and into his game and these are the next steps for him, that he can absolutely feel how much influence he can have, and that he shows everybody in the stadium his potential, and not only to us on the training ground.”
    Chelsea ace on goalscoring prowess
Mason Mount has admitted that scoring more goals has been a focus of his this season.
After his latest strike against Crystal Palace, he said: “It’s obviously been quite a productive season for me.
“At the start, it was something I really looked at because as a midfielder you want to be someone who gets goals and assists.
“I’ve always wanted to be that threat and I’ve tried to do it as best I can.
“It’s started to come off a bit more this season but you always have those periods where you don’t score as well and I’ve had those this season too.
“It’s been a good little period the last couple of games. I’ve just been trying to focus on getting in the box and trying to take my opportunities.
“I had a couple of shots today and they went miles over but then I had the one right at the end where it’s the best chance out of all of them. I’ve got to take it and I found the corner which is something I’ve been working on in training.”
    Mount delighted for Loftus-Cheek.
Chelsea star Mason Mount is “buzzing” for Ruben Loftus-Cheek after his fellow academy graduate opened the scoring against Crystal Palace yesterday.
He said: “I’m absolutely buzzing for Rubes.
“He’s worked so hard to get back into the shape he is now and he’s a top player. He came on in a difficult game but stepped up and did well.
“He’s a big, dominant player for us and the way he drives the ball forward really helps us move up the pitch. He was brilliant today when he came on.”
    Mount praises much-maligned star
Mason Mount has been full of praise for often-criticised German ace Timo Werner.
Following yesterday’s win, the England international said: “He’s been brilliant since he came in at Southampton and then in Madrid.
“You can see he’s full of energy. In the second half there was a moment where he missed a chance but then me and Jorginho were laughing on the bench because he sprinted all the way back to the halfway line and made a tackle.
“That’s what we’re all about. He gives everything so I’m very pleased for him.
“He got me a little assist, could have had another one and he could have had a couple of goals as well. He’s done so well the past couple of games.”
    James is on Real radar
Real Madrid are plotting a sensational swoop for Chelsea star Reece James this summer, according to reports.
The Blues right-back, 22, has been in superb form this season – excelling in attack as well as defensively.
James is quickly establishing himself as England’s No1 man in that position despite Gareth Southgate’s plethora of options.
And Real Madrid are hoping to lure him away from Old Trafford in the summer, according to The Mirror.
Los Blancos recently got a close look at James during their Champions League quarter-final tie against Chelsea.
James was in scintillating form as the Blues came within touching distance of a stunning second-leg comeback at the Bernabeu.
    Mount talks Palace cup win
Chelsea ace Mason Mount has offered his reaction to yesterday’s 2-0 FA Cup semi-final victory over Crystal Palace.
The midfielder said: “It’s a game that we needed to bounce back. Any time you play at Wembley, it’s a special occasion. I can’t remember the last time I scored here but I think it was quite a while ago.
“If you look at the game overall, it was very tight. I was speaking to Marc Guehi afterwards and saying how well they played and how good they are as a team with top players.
“They made it very difficult for us with the way they set up. They have a very good manager and we found it difficult. It took quite a long time for us to break them down.
“We didn’t have many chances until we scored, which opened the game up. They had to go forward a bit more, which left more gaps and then we got the second which was the game killed off.”
    Tuchel criticises Romelu Lukaku fitness
Thomas Tuchel revealed before yesterday’s FA Cup semi-final that Romelu Lukaku’s match fitness remains some way off the standard required to match Chelsea’s tactical intensity.
The German noted: “He is not fit enough for the intensity of our game in an FA Cup semi-final.
“It’s not easy to come into a game such as this with so much riding on it after a spell out with injury.
“It’s just a case of him not having as much minutes recently as the other players, his match fitness is not quite there otherwise there’s a big chance that he would have started today.”
    Joe Cole’s Lukaku warning revealed
Joe Cole has warned Romelu Lukaku he has just SIX WEEKS to save his Chelsea career.
Former Blue Cole told ITV: “Lukaku has six weeks to save his Chelsea career.
“You look at Werner and he doesn’t give up. Lukaku wants to be that focal point but he missed a chance.
“When it’s not going for you, it’s not going for you.
“People saw Lukaku as the missing piece of the jigsaw, it didn’t happen.
“But it can come back as quickly as it goes. Football can change in one game.”
