Mino Raiola latest news: Super-agent ‘critically ill’ in Milan hospital as his Twitter furiously denies death reports

MINO RAIOLA has denied reports of his death on social media. The Italian super-agent tweeted: “Current health status for the ones wondering: p***** off second time in 4 months they kill me. Seem also able to ressuscitate.”
However, reports suggest that Raiola remains “critically ill” in hospital in Milan.
The Italian represents some of football’s biggest names, including Erling Haaland, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.
    Ex-right-back Johnson on Pogba
Former Chelsea and Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson has said that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, whose agent is Mino Raiola, doesn’t have “the character to suit either Liverpool or Chelsea.”
The Frenchman is out of contract this summer and can leave United for free.
On Pogba, Johnson told GGRecon: “I wouldn’t go for him.
“He’s a sensational individual and he’s won most of the things you can win in football but I don’t believe he has the character to suit either Liverpool or Chelsea.
“There’s no way Jurgen Klopp would sign him. No chance.”
    Raiola’s health misreported again
Mino Raiola’s tweet this afternoon that for the ‘second time in four months they [social media] kill me’ refers to an episode that occurred in January.
At the start of the year, the agent was admitted to hospital where he underwent medical checks that required anaesthesia.
However, that story quickly spiralled across social networks, and it was soon being inaccurately reported that Raiola had needed emergency surgery.
    Could Raiola wreck United plans?
Manchester United managers have not enjoyed the most positive of relationships with Mino Raiola over the years, and Erik ten Hag could become the latest to have his plans thwarted by the super agent.
Ten Hag will arrive from Ajax in the summer and hopes to bring young midfielder Ryan Gravenberch with him as he begins his overhaul of the flailing Red Devils.
However, the 19-year-old Dutch international’s agent is none other than Raiola, who has been meeting with representatives of Bayern Munich over a move for his client to the Bundesliga.
While frustrating many managers, board members and fans, Raiola has built an impressive reputation for putting his players first, and doing all he can to get them the best deals possible.
    Did Haaland meet with Mino?
Mino Raiola is agent to some of football’s biggest superstars, two of whom are central to the biggest transfer stories currently gripping the game.
While Paul Pogba looks destined to move to Paris Saint-Germain, the destination of another of Raiola’s clients – Erling Haaland – has been subject to months of speculation.
And supposedly, the Norwegian ace flew out to meet with his agent in Monaco at the weekend regarding a mega-money deal with Manchester City.
With Raiola now in critical condition in Milan, it raises question as to whether the meeting actually took place.
    Romano reports on doctor’s outrage
Fabrizio Romano has followed up Mino Raiola’s tweet regarding the agent’s supposed death by quoting one of the doctors at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan where he is currently being treated.
Dr. Alberto Zangrillo reportedly told Ansa: “I’m outraged by the phone calls from pseudo-journalists speculating on the life of a man who is fighting to survive”.
    Fabregas asks for Raiola respect
An upset Cesc Fabregas has responded to the false reports of Mino Raiola’s death within social and mainstream media by demanding thoughtfulness.
The former Chelsea and Arsenal star quote tweeted the original source of the inaccurate story, the Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri and his now-deleted tweet.
Fabregas said” Please remember that this man have a family. I’ve known his son for a few years and this news are false.
“Please let’s have some respect, not everything is allowed.”
    An update from Mino Raiola
Contrary to earlier reports, Mino Raiola is not dead.
However, the agent is supposedly very ill and in a critical condition in a hospital in Milan.
Moments ago, the following tweet was posted from the agent’s account, appearing to mock reports of his death by social media for the second time in four months.
Current health status for the ones wondering: pissed off second time in 4 months they kill me. Seem also able to ressuscitate.— Mino Raiola (@MinoRaiola) April 28, 2022

According to the Italian press, the Red Devils are in talks with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s representatives and seen as frontrunners to sign the Lazio man.
And Ruben Neves’ representatives are said to be “inviting” the club to make a bid for the Wolves star.
Kalvin Phillips of Leeds is another reported target, who could make a move across the Pennines for a fee of £50m.
Meanwhile Ralf Rangnick has confirmed he will continue working with Manchester United in a consultancy role this summer.

    ‘I’m not dead’
Football super-agent Mino Raiola has been forced to deny claims he has DIED with an angry tweet.
Italian media wrongly claimed the world’s biggest football agent, 54, had passed away, which was then reported by the world’s press.
Real Madrid even paid their condolences after the fake reports emerged.
But the man himself has denied this from his hospital bed.
Raiola tweeted: “Current health status for the ones wondering: p***d off second time in 4 months they kill me.
    “Seem also able to resuscitate.”
It is believed Raiola has been suffering with a lung condition, according to German outlet Bild.
The Italian looks after the likes of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland and the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Manchester United managers have not enjoyed the most positive of relationships with Mino Raiola over the years, and Erik ten Hag could become the latest to have his plans thwarted by the super agent.

    United hit by UEFA fine
Manchester United have been handed a €10,000 fine following incidents that marred their Champions League home defeat to Atletico Madrid last month.
Atletico manager Diego Simeone was the target of several missiles thrown from the crowd at the end of a bad-tempered Last 16 tie at Old Trafford.
The UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body announced that the fine had been handed out for the ‘throwing of objects’ although didn’t reference the Argentine coach directly.
    Welcome Manchester United fans
Manchester United are facing an injury crisis as they prepare to host Chelsea at Old Trafford this evening.
Ralf Rangnick revealed that he would be without EIGHT first team players for the Premier League fixture that United must surely win to keep their dwindling hopes of a top-four finish alive.
Behind-the-scenes, officials have begun working on a number of summer transfer targets – and they include Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The England international has previously indicated that he would never join Manchester United, but the Red Devils are hoping to make the player an offer he can’t refuse.
And United could splash the cash again when it comes striker Victor Osimhen.
Rumours in Italy state that an £84million offer is being submitted to Napoli for the free-scoring Nigerian.
Meanwhile, Rangnick has rubbished reports that he compiled a dossier for the United board labelling his players ‘selfish’ and ‘unprofessional’.
The interim boss insists that would always protect his players, and his only current concern is helping incoming manager Erik ten Hag to build a squad capable of challenging for titles.

Meanwhile Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit of Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
Chelsea are also said to be negotiating with Ajax over a potential deal for Brazilian winger Antony.
And the next owners of the Blues must guarantee that they will stay in charge of the club for a minimum of TEN years.

    Ex-right-back Johnson on Pogba
Former Chelsea and Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson has said that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba doesn’t have “the character to suit either Liverpool or Chelsea.”
No chance.”
    Years of Abramovich spending
Here’s a breakdown of how much Roman Abramovich spent during his time as owner of Chelsea.

    Bidders told to up offers
The three prospective owners of Chelsea have been asked to increase their offers by £500million by outgoing billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Martin Kleinman at Sky News reports that the Russian owner is demanding the additional money to help augment a £1billion charitable donation to be made upon the sale of the football club.
The increase in price effectively guarantees ‘a minimum headline price for the club of £2.5billion.’
Those heading each of the consortia still involved in the process are said to have reacted positively to the request.
The preferred bidder selected by Raine Group is expected to be announced by the end of this week.
    Gimenez added to wanted list
Another hour, another new centre-back linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
This time it’s Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez that Chelsea scouts are watching as the Londoners plan for life after Rudiger and Christensen.
The Uruguayan defender has clocked up 245 appearances for Atleti since moving to Spain in 230.
An international with 76 caps to his name, Gimenez is comfortable with the ball at his feet, and a fully focused man-marker.
    Mount revelling on the road
With their forwards misfiring once again, Chelsea will be looking towards Mason Mount to make the different at Old Trafford this evening.
And the England international rarely disappoints on the road, having played some of his best football this season away from Stamford Bridge.
Mount has been directly involved in ten goals in his 14 away appearances this season, scoring five himself and laying on another five assists for his teammates.
Only Mo Salah (18), Harry Kane (13) and James Ward-Prowse (11) have more combined goals and assists in Premier League away games this term.

    Chelsea also chasing Barca’s Kimpembe
Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea’s scouting team have made reinforcements at centre-half a priority for when new owners take over at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues expect to lose Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer – and there’s the possibility that Cesar Azpilicueta also departs the club via the exit door.
Without new signings, those departures would leave the Londoners short in central defence, and having to rely on a 38-year-old Thiago Silva.
Sevilla’s Jules Kounde has already been sounded out by Chelsea officials, and now Goal see Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe as another option.
Kimpembe has spent his entire career at PSG, but would be tempted by the challenge of the Premier League should his former boss come calling.

    Thursday night’s alright for rivals
Manchester United and Chelsea once again do battle this evening but will do so for the very first time on a Thursday.
The rescheduling of this clash means that it will become the 13th different Premier League fixture to have been played on all seven days of the week.
It’s a novelty for the Blues with United set to become the first club that they have faced on each day.
The Red Devils, meanwhile, have previously faced Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle on Monday – Sunday.
    Chelsea only require ‘cosmetic surgery’
Thomas Tuchel does not expect Chelsea’s new owners to splash the cash this summer, and instead insists that the squad are only in need of some ‘cosmetic surgery’.
The German coach says a testing close-season awaits in rebuilding the club, but insists he is sticking around and is relishing the challenge.
Asked what treatment the Blues require to move forward, Tuchel chuckled and replied: “Cosmetic surgery. I would be less concerned if we had still the same ownership, but as this is also in question, we are aware of the danger of a situation that is maybe a bit more complex.”
He added: ‘It is demanding enough nowadays in football to lose this kind of quality in a back three, and to lose two key players for free.
“It could be a very, very demanding summer.”
    Tuchel hopeful of trio return
Chelsea travel to Manchester United this evening, hoping to cement third place in the Premier League – and another shot at the Champions League next year.
The Blues can move eight points clear of Arsenal in fourth with a win, and further add to United’s miserable form in the process.
Thomas Tuchel’s team have put in concerning performances themselves of late, but the German coach hopes he will have three key defenders back in the squad to help improve his struggling backline.
“[Antonio] Rudiger was in training yesterday, and it’s the same for Reece James,” Tuchel said at his pre-match press conference yesterday.
“Hopefully they can do the full training session today and give us a green light. We have hopes that they can be in the squad to play tomorrow.”
“It’s the same for Andreas [Christensen]. We will need another examination because he felt sick, but he will come back to the training ground today.”
Christensen and Rudiger are expected to depart Stamford Bridge while James has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
    Good morning Chelsea fans
Chelsea are confident they can sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in the summer.
According to 90min, there is a mutual determination for the transfer to be completed.
The Blues are also keeping tabs on Arminia Bielefeld centre-back Amos Pieper, according to reports.
Pieper, 24, has impressed in the Bundesliga this season despite Arminia heading for relegation.
Finally, Chelsea players believe the sanctions placed on them by the government are costing them and could force Thomas Tuchel to quit, say reports.
Boss Tuchel claimed the club have been left with their “hands tied” as Antonio Rudiger is set to leave.
And the Times report the squad “fear” the complications could “push” Tuchel out the club too.
Rom’s top of the earners list
Summer flop Romelu Lukaku is Chelsea’s biggest earner.
The Belgian forward picks up an eye-watering £325,000-a-week at the Blues.
He could, however, already be heading for the exit door.

New owner yet to be found
A new Chelsea owner is yet to be found.
Here’s a look at Roman Abramovich’s spending numbers.

    Chelsea confident on Kounde
Chelsea are confident they can sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in the summer.
According to 90min, there is a mutual determination for the transfer to be completed.
The Blues actively tried to sign Kounde last summer but were reportedly “blindsided” by a last minute increase in demands by Sevilla.

    Jorginho on Drogba
Chelsea midfielder has revealed “it would be nice” if he could have played with the great Didier Drogba.
The retired striker had so many memorable moments while playing for the Blues.
Drogba scored the equaliser and winning penalty in Chelsea’s first Champions League trophy win in 2012.
On Drogba, Jorginho said: “What a player. What a striker.
“It would be nice if I could have played with him. It wouldn’t be bad to have his movements as a striker.”
Mason Mount: Premier League stats so far
Will Chelsea’s Mason Mount reach double figures in goals and assists this season in the league?

    ‘Antonio Rudiger… who is this?’
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti gave absolutely nothing away after he was quizzed about signing Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger.
The legendary Italian boss was speaking after a thrilling Champions League semi-final first leg tie away at Manchester City.
Although Real Madrid lost the game, at 4-3 down heading to the Bernabeu there is still everything to play for.
Rudiger, meanwhile, has told Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel he will leave the Londoners at the end of the season on a free transfer.
Real Madrid have emerged as the frontrunners to snap up the centre-half in what would be a big coup.
But after being asked about Rudiger following the defeat at the Etihad, Ancelotti went all coy.
He answered: “Antonio Rudiger, who is this?
“He is a Chelsea player until… he is still a Chelsea player, and I cannot say anything about this.”
    Ball-carrying midfielder
Declan Rice is the leader in progressive yards carried outside of England’s “big six”.
The England midfielder has carried the ball over 6,000 yards.
    Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin is behind on 4,663.
If the “Big Six” were included, Rice would be behind Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Dias and Joel Matip.
Rice is a summer transfer target for both Chelsea and Man Utd.

    Pie Eyed
    In case you missed it.
Chelsea are keeping tabs on Arminia Bielefeld centre-back Amos Pieper, according to reports.
Pieper, 24, has impressed in the Bundesliga this season despite Arminia heading for relegation.
The defender is available on a free in the summer and the Blues have asked to be kept in the loop in regard to his availability, report The Mirror.
There are several other clubs interested in Pieper, including Borussia Dortmund – with Pieper previously playing for the club’s academy.
Premier League pair Newcastle and Southampton are also said to be interested in the German and Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are keen to strike a bargain.
Chelsea stars fear Tuchel could be forced to QUIT
Chelsea players believe the sanctions placed on them by the government are costing them and could force Thomas Tuchel to quit, say reports.
Boss Tuchel claimed the club have been left with their “hands tied” as Antonio Rudiger is set to leave.
Rudiger, 29, is due to bank almost £60million with his mega move to Real Madrid.
And the Times report the squad “fear” the complications could “push” Tuchel out the club too.
The Stamford Bridge dressing room are concerned they are “powerless” as they wait for sanctions and this could harm the squad.
How Man Utd could line up against Chelsea
Ralf Rangnick is in the midst of an injury crisis at Manchester United and currently has just 14 senior players fit for action.
The interim boss is down to the bare bones of his squad after confirming skipper Harry Maguire is not available for tomorrow’s clash against Chelsea.
Maguire, who was benched for the trip to Arsenal, is sidelined with a “niggle” in his knee but there are fears he could be out for the season.
Elsewhere Jadon Sancho misses out through illness, while Fred has not recovered from a hip flexor problem in time to feature.
Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw, Edinson Cavani are all also set to miss out, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a doubt with an unspecified issue.

    Tuchel to stay at Chelsea
Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that will stay at Chelsea next season.
There has been some speculation recently around the idea of the 48-year-old leaving due to the sanctions placed on the club by the UK Government.
However, when speaking to Adam Newson for Football.London, he said: “From pre-season next season we will give our very best and I will be fully involved with all my heart and my knowledge.”
    Tuchel on Ruben Loftus-Cheek
During today’s press conference, Thomas Tuchel was asked about the impact of Loftus-Cheek.
He said: “He needs to push himself to the limit. He had a bit of shy game like everybody else against Arsenal and not such a good half against Crystal Palace but stepped up in the second half in dribbling and ball recoveries and suddenly the crowd was there.
“In general he is a shy and calm person but he needs to discover the monster in him and unleash this on a regular basis. It is necessary.
“It is not enough to just be on the pitch, it might seem a good first step given his last years but we cannot let him think that is enough.
“We try every day and I think we are successful given his development.
“He needs to understand his potential and his physical capacity every day in training, he cannot let loose. He needs to play every match like a final.”

Tuchel on tomorrow’s trip to Old Trafford
During today’s press conference, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said: “I’m personally very happy to play against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
“I arrive with a strong club. I’m happy to have this match and it will always be a big match for me no matter what form they are in.
“That’s why we prepare in the best possible way. We focus on their last matches, we should not get confused by their lack of points, their squad is full of quality.”
    ‘He loves responsibility’ – Tuchel
Thomas Tuchel has reflected on Antonio Rudiger’s upcoming departure from Chelsea, stating that the team are sad to see him go.
He said: “I don’t think anybody likes it. He gives everybody confidence in the dressing room.
“He is a unique character and plays on an outstanding level. He sometimes takes the focus towards him, he loves responsibility.
“I don’t think anybody likes this decision but we have to accept it. Like it or not there will be life at Chelsea after Toni.
“It is also the most important thing for us that it ends like it started, on the highest level.”

Chelsea team news vs Man Utd
Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Mateo Kovacic, Ben Chilwell, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley will all be absent from the Chelsea squad ahead of tomorrow’s game against Man Utd.
In his pre-match press conference, he said: “Kova will be out, Ben Chilwell will be out and Callum will be out.
“Rudiger was in training yesterday, so was Reece James, we have another training coming and hopefully they will be fine.
“Andreas needs another examination, but hopefully he will train.
“Ross Barkley is sick and will not be in the squad.”

Milinkovic-Savic ‘in Man Utd talks’, Rangnick to STAY, Erik Ten Hag’s ‘De Gea concerns’ revealed – transfer latest

MANCHESTER UNITED are stepping up their search for a replacement for Paul Pogba. And to that end, long-term target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is reportedly in talks over a move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Lazio man since the days of Jose Mourinho.
Meanwhile Ralf Rangnick has confirmed he will continue working with Man Utd in a consultancy role once Erik ten Hag takes over.
And David de Gea could have work to do to prove he is the right man between the sticks for incoming Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman reportedly has concerns about the Spaniard’s ability to fit into his system.
However, De Gea is set to receive a stay of execution as Ten Hag is said to accept that there are more immediate issues to solve within the United squad.
Stay up to date with all the latest from Old Trafford in our live blog…
    Red Devils on the move
It’s match day in Manchester, and there’s as much happening off the pitch as there will be on it come 7.45pm this evening.
With injury-hit United poised to play Chelsea, Old Trafford officials have been busy identifying transfer targets for a summer squad overhaul.
Ruben Neves, Kalvin Phillips, Sebastian Haller and Victor Osimhen have all been strongly linked with the club this week, and some bids are already said to be in motion.
The Red Devils are certainly making moves, and so are we – if you’d like to stay up-to-date with all things Manchester United, then follow us to our new daily blog.
Fish thrown in at deep end
Manchester United have called rookie defender Will Fish into the first-team squad.
The 19-year-old could get his chance under outgoing boss Ralf Rangnick in the Premier League run-in despite floundering in the National League on loan at Stockport.
Centre-half Harry Maguire could have played his last game of the season after picking up a knee injury, and that has seen Rangnick run the rule over Fish and fellow youngsters Alvaro Fernandez, Shola Shoretire and Hannibal Mejbri in training.
Fernandez is another who could get his big choice with first-choice left-back Luke Shaw also out injured.
The teenager made his first-team debut in the final game of last season, coming on in the final moments of a 2-1 away win at Wolves.
    Rangnick rubbishes United dossier rumours
Manchester United interim boss has shutdown the suggestions that he handed the Old Trafford board a dossier containing criticism of the current squad.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s game with Chelsea, the German hit back at rumours a report had been created in which he had labelled some players as ‘selfish’ and ‘unprofessional’.
“This is completely false. It’s completely untrue. The board has never asked me to prepare a dossier, neither for the board nor for Erik [ten Hag],” said Rangnick.
“I’ve also never said anything criticising the attitude of players, of them being selfish or unprofessional. I will always protect my players.
“I have never noticed any issues with them not being professional or selfish. In moments like this, the players are also looking for reasons as to why results have not been as good as they should be.
“I’ve been talking to the board regularly and exchanging impressions of the current situation, but for me, it is important that together with Erik and the scouting department, we can build a new squad with quality and mentality.”
    Eagles could swoop for Aaron
Aaron Wan-Bissaka could return to Crystal Palace next season with the South Londoners considering a loan move for their former star.
The right-back moved to Manchester United from Selhurst Park for £45million in 2019, but has struggled at times to live up to the price tag.
The 24-year-old has made 20 Premier League appearances this season, but has often found himself second-choice behind Diogo Dalot.
The Athletic suggest that the Eagles are now plotting to bring Wan-Bissaka back to the capital although only on a temporary deal.
Patrick Vieira currently has two right-backs at his disposal in Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne, although both are the wrong side of 30.

    United down to bare bones
Manchester United could be without up to EIGHT first team players for tonight’s Premier League match with Chelsea.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick revealed yesterday that Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka had been added to the Red Devils’ ever-growing injury list.
Sancho is ill with tonsillitis while underfire captain Maguire has picked up a knee issue.
Wan-Bissaka’s problem is said to be minor, but may still be enough to keep him out this evening.
United are already without the injured Fred, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw while Mason Greenwood remains indefinitely suspended from the club.
It’s a blow for any hopes that the Red Devils had of ending a disappointing season on a high, and further highlights the work that new boss Erik ten Hag has to do.
    Red Devils preparing Kalvin coup
Manchester United’s audacious bid to land Kalvin Phillips from rivals Leeds United may be on, according to The Athletic.
Club correspondents report that the Red Devils have begun exploring the possibility of bringing the England midfielder to Old Trafford in a £50million deal.
As a boyhood Leeds fan, the 26-year-old has previously indicated that he would never do the unthinkable and cross the Pennines to join the Manchester club.
However, incoming boss Erik ten Hag has supposedly made a defensive midfielder his priority with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic set to depart.
Phillips has long been a player of interest for Manchester United, and officials at the club believe that a big-money offer could be enough for the player and Leeds to put aside their grievances.
    Good morning Man Utd fans
Ralf Rangnick has admitted that a season out of Europe could help new boss Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United rebuild.
Rangnick said: “It could be an advantage but that does not mean we will give away any of the remaining four games. For us it’s clear and our obligation.
“This is our job, my job, the job of the players that we try to get the best possible results and then see at the end of the season in which position we will finish.
“Now to speak about if that would be an advantage or not does not make sense because if I did that then this would be interpreted again.
“For me it’s important we get results, that we play as good as we possibly can, because this will also affect the atmosphere and mood for the new season.”
The German also believes that the captaincy should be put to a player vote.
Harry Maguire’s leadership has come under fire this season, as has his form on the pitch.
Wolves are ‘resigned to losing’ star man Ruben Neves.
The news comes as a boost to both Manchester United and Arsenal, who have expressed an interest in the midfielder.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Wolves are sounding out potential replacements for the 25-year-old.
And finally, United will face competition from Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of Sebastien Haller.
SunSport revealed how incoming Man United boss Erik ten Hag fancies bringing the Ivory Coast striker with him from Ajax in the summer as his first signing.
Dortmund are braced to lose striker Erling Haaland in the summer with Manchester City a possible destination.
And Haller is being viewed as a possible replacement for the brilliant Norwegian, albeit a cut-price one.
    Ten Hag set to strengthen
Incoming boss Erik ten Hag will strengthen his Man Utd squad.
Here’s what the man who came before him brought in.
Do you expect Ten Hag to do better?

    Better off without Europe
Ralf Rangnick admits that a season out of Europe could help new boss Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United rebuild.
The Red Devils are now outsiders for a Champions League spot and could even finish outside the Europa places in eighth if Wolves catch them.
Man Utd captaincy: stars should VOTE
Ralf Rangnick says Harry Maguire’s captaincy should be put to a player vote.
Maguire’s leadership has come under fire this season while the Manchester United defender struggled with his form.
He is set to miss the final four games of the season through a knee injury — meaning either Cristiano Ronaldo or Bruno Fernandes will skipper the team against Chelsea tonight.
Asked if he would recommend Maguire to incoming boss Erik Ten Hag, Rangnick said: “I understand your question but again it doesn’t make sense because we don’t know what kind of players will be here, what the group will look like.
“I can only tell you what I have done in the past when I was head coach or manager because in Germany it’s called ‘Mannschaftskapitan’ — the captain of the team.
“I strongly believe the captain should be elected by the team because he’s called the team manager and we always did that, we always had a board of four or five players.
“We called it the ‘Spielerrat’ [players’ council] — elected by the players.
“The player with the highest amount of votes was the team captain at the end. That was how I did it.
“I know a lot of head coaches don’t do it that way. That’s what I would do if I was still the manager next season but in the end I’m not. This is something that Erik will have to decide.”
    Wolves ‘resigned to losing’ Neves
Wolves are ‘resigned to losing’ star man Ruben Neves.
The news comes as a boost to both Manchester United and Arsenal, who have expressed an interest in the midfielder.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Wolves are sounding out potential replacements for the 25-year-old.
Any interested club may have to fork out upwards of £50million for Neves.
    Mourinho on Ten Hag
Jose Mourinho made sure to remind people that Man Utd was his “former club” when asked on incoming manager Erik Ten Hag.
He said: “You touched on the point – my former club. Not my club.
    “No, I don’t have advice.”
Man Utd scout uncovered ‘gem’ Vinicius Jr
Manchester United reportedly discovered ‘gem’ Vinicius Jr in 2014 – but failed to sign him.
The 21-year-old winger is currently starring for Real Madrid after joining from Flamengo on his 18th birthday in 2018.
But according to ESPN, it could have been very different with the forward representing that famous red shirt of Manchester.
Carlos Noval, who was an academy coach at Flamengo, explained: “A foreign scout from Manchester United said: ‘Noval, look at the player you have, he’s a gem!
“‘I’ve never seen a 14-year-old player do what he does.’
“That reinforced everything we already had in mind. He was a gem to be polished. Everyone wanted Vinicius.”
Ferguson reveals what Ten Hag MUST do
Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson knows what Erik ten Hag needs to do to restore the club to its former glory.
The Red Devils have failed to win a trophy for five years, and have not lifted the Premier League since Fergie’s last season in 2013.
Speaking at Punchestown horse racing festival, Fergie told RTE Racing: “I hope he does well [Ten Hag], because the club needs someone to get in control.”
The 80-year-old went on to reveal he “hopes” Ten Hag is the right man for the job
He added: “I hope he does well yeah.”
    Man Utd’s biggest sales
Cristiano Ronaldo’s £80million transfer to Real Madrid in 2009 is United’s biggest sale to date.

Man Utd call up Will Fish to first-team
Manchester United have called rookie defender Will Fish into the first-team squad.
The 19-year-old could get his chance under outgoing boss Ralf Rangnick in the Premier League run-in despite floundering in the National League.
Centre-half Harry Maguire could have played his last game of the season after picking up a knee injury.
That has seen Rangnick run the rule over Fish and fellow youngsters Alvaro Fernandez, Shola Shoretire and Hannibal Mejbri in training.
And Fernandez is another who could get his big choice with first-choice left-back Luke Shaw also out injured.
It could turn around a pretty dismal season for Fish.
The teenager made his first-team debut in the final game of last season, playing a 2-1 win away at Wolves.
He was shipped out on loan to National League side Stockport at the start of this season, but only featured in two games and 84 minutes before returning to Old Trafford.

    Exclusive: Seb Haller transfer fight
Manchester United face competition from Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of Sebastien Haller.
SunSport revealed how incoming Man United boss Erik ten Hag fancies bringing the Ivory Coast striker with him from Ajax in the summer as his first signing.
Former West Ham man Haller has scored 33 goals in 39 games in the Dutch top flight this season to see his stock rise once more after a failed spell in the Premier League.
He was the Hammers’ record signing at £40million but lasted less than two years, in which he netted just ten times and did not fit in under boss David Moyes.
But he has been rejuvenated in Holland and is being sought after once more.
Dortmund are braced to lose striker Erling Haaland in the summer with Manchester City a possible destination.
And Haller is being viewed as a possible replacement for the brilliant Norwegian, albeit a cut-price one.

    Next five games
Chelsea is up next for Man Utd.

    Strike a deal
Man Utd could go back in for Paulo Dybala this summer when his contract with Juventus expires.
The Argentine striker is sure to be chased by a whole host of Europe’s top clubs so United will have to act fast.
Reports in Italy claim that Old Trafford could be a likely destination for 28-year-old Dybala.
Gazetta dello Sport states that the arrival of Erik ten Hag as new United manager has led to some early “timid interest”.
And Corriere dello Sport follows that same line, reporting that Ten Hag coming in as the new manager could accelerate the transfer.
The Dutch boss could be the driving force to get the deal over the line.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City could all rival United in the chase for the 32-cap Argentina international.

    ‘There’s a player power problem’ – Enrique
Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has said that some players at Man Utd have too much power.
When speaking to LordPing, he said: “At some clubs, players have had more power than managers – it’s happening at United – and this has never happened before.
“Look at Solskjaer last year, Man United finished second and this year they signed players that he didn’t want and didn’t like the style and didn’t trust him and then you sign a temporary manager for a club like United, what is this, is it a joke?
“I think they should trust managers more. If I was a sporting director and I really liked a manager, I’d put my trust in him.
“Now in football, they sack managers a lot and that’s why Everton and Manchester United are in difficult situations.”
Man Utd keen to sign Kalvin Phillips
Man Utd are pursuing Kalvin Phillips after scouting the Leeds midfielder for three years, according to reports.
Old Trafford bosses have drawn up a shortlist of wanted men with Phillips, 26, at the top.
The Athletic claim that Man Utd have started “exploring the prospect” of a £50 million transfer.
Phillips began to shine under Marcelo Bielsa when Leeds were in the Championship.
He starred during promotion to the Premier League and earnt an England call-up before Euro 2020.
And he has been admired by United assistant manager Mike Phelan since watching the midfielder dominate a Carabao Cup game against Salford City back in 2019.
The Red Devils have made the international a top target with Ralf Rangnick, who will move up into a consultancy role in June.

    ‘Looney Tunes defending’
Man Utd stars Jadon Sancho and Alex Telles were brutally mocked for trying to mark Arsenal ace Eddie Nketiah.
The United pair tried in vain to block Nketiah in Arsenal’s 3-1 over Manchester United on Saturday.
The hapless duo attempted to sandwich the Arsenal striker during the Premier League clash.
Sancho inched in from the left, and Telles encroached on Nketiah from the right.
But when the sharp Nketiah realised what was going on – he simply side-stepped the United stars’ trap.
Sancho and Telles were left looking bemused as the 22-year-old left them in his dust.

How Man Utd could line up against Chelsea
Alternatively, Rangnick admitted in his press conference ahead of the Chelsea clash that he could put his trust in academy stars.
When quizzed on the prospect of including youngsters, Rangnick said: “Well, it’s possible. We have quite a few players missing tomorrow and one or two still with question marks so we will have to wait and see until tomorrow to see if, for example, Aaron Wan-Bissaka can play.
“I already played Hannibal at Liverpool so it’s possible [I’ll play youngsters] but we also have to be fair enough to those players.
“It has to be the right moment, they should have a chance to play well and perform well so it’s not just pushing them into a game. I think it should also be the right moment.”

Thomas Tuchel on the importance on a win vs Man Utd
During today’s press conference, Tuchel said:
“It’s always a good time for a win no matter if you won the last match or not. It just shows it is not easy and you can get these streaks.
“With all the respect that we have for the history and the occasion and the quality in general of Man U, we will prepare to win this match and then we will see what questions are asked.
“It is not so much now or never because they are struggling with results recently. We try to prepare in the best way possible and to win the match tomorrow.
“For me as football fan and fan of the Premier League, it is a big match.”

    Jor dropping
Chelsea star Jorginho reckons VAR is to blame for his horrendous penalty miss against West Ham.
The midfielder, 29, fluffed his lines from the spot in the 86th minute after Craig Dawson was sent off for a foul on Romelu Lukaku.
Jorginho fired off a weak effort after his trademark skip, giving Lukasz Fabianski an easy save.
He has now apologised to Chelsea fans and teammates for his poor penalty.
But the Italian believes ref Michael Oliver’s lengthy VAR check saw him lose focus.
Jorginho said: “This sort of pressure, especially in games like this when you need to win and it’s last minute, and you try to isolate your mind from all that pressure even though it’s hard.
“And then you have the VAR so it takes longer, it’s harder to keep focus.
“What you need to do and what I try to do is I try to isolate my mind of all this pressure, and unfortunately this time it didn’t work.
“When you have that little moment of doubt that’s usually when you make the mistake. Maybe I had too much time to think about it, I don’t know.
“This time it went like that and I’m sorry. I feel bad because it’s not a nice feeling.”
    Rud move
Chelsea legend John Terry has been left baffled by the club’s decision to let defender Antonio Rudiger to leave.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed after his side’s win over West Ham on Sunday that the German will be departing Stamford Bridge when his contract expires at the end of the season.
And Terry does not understand why Chelsea failed to tie Rudiger down.
Responding to the news, the former Blues captain said: “How have we let this man go,” along with three covering faces emojis.
    Time for Torres
Pau Torres has received interest from Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea as the Premier League sides prepare to activate his £50million release clause in the summer.
The Villarreal centre-back has been heavily linked with a move to England for some time.
But the end of this season appears the most likely time for him to secure a move away from the LaLiga side given his release clause can be triggered.
And journalist Fabrizio Romano said: “Pau Torres is attracting interest from top clubs again as his release clause will be valid this summer: €55/60m, available until the end of the market.
“Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested – Chelsea have also sent their scouts to follow him.”

    Rudiger’s replacement?
Chelsea have reportedly told Dujon Sterling that he will be needed in the first team this summer when Antonio Rudiger leaves the club.
According to Goal.com, Sterling will be a key player during the pre-season period.
The 22-year-old recently returned to Cobham after his season ended prematurely.
He sustained an ankle injury against Nottingham Forest while on loan at Blackpool.
Thomas Tuchel is said to be an admirer of Sterling.

    Good morning Chelsea fans
Parties bidding for Chelsea have been invited to Stamford Bridge for a final round of talks.
The Telegraph claims representatives from the remaining three bids will be in London this week for one last roll of the dice.
Chelsea and Raine, in charge of the sale, will listen to each of the final £2.5billion proposals as they hone in on a winner.
LA Dodgers owner Todd Boehly, Boston Celtics chief Stephen Pagliuca and British businessman Sir Martin Broughton head the three groups left in the running to replace Roman Abramovich.
Chelsea legend John Terry has been left baffled by the club’s decision to let defender Antonio Rudiger to leave.
Responding to the news, the former Blues captain said: “How have we let this man go,” along with three covering faces emojis.
Chelsea star Jorginho reckons VAR is to blame for his horrendous penalty miss against West Ham.

    Liverpool ‘make contact’ over Tchouameni
    In case you missed it.
Liverpool have initiated contact with Monaco star and Chelsea target Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of the summer transfer window, reports suggest.
That is according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, who claims that the Reds have approached Tchouameni as manager Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen in midfield.
Klopp is reportedly a big fan of the midfielder, who has attracted immense interest following a series of impressive performances in Ligue 1.
The France international is also open to the prospect of playing in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old is keen to leave Monaco in the summer and the club could be willing to strike a deal, even though his contract expires in 2024.
    Chelsea’s top earners this season
Romelu Lukaku is being linked with a move away from Chelsea just one year after his return.
Lukaku was re-signed by the Blues from Inter for a record £97.5million fee.
And he is also Chelsea’s top earner on £325,000-a-week wages.
    Money well spent, Blues fans?

    Jurgen pleased with performance
The Liverpool boss outlined how it was important they kept to their game plan today even when Villarreal were frustrating them tonight:
We kept them quiet, which was important because of the type of threat they are. We tried to create, tried to be direct. You show the respect to the opponent by the way you defend them, that is why we won the game. This is not over, we know that.Jurgen KloppLiverpool
Make sure you have FINAL say
Liverpool know all too well how easily Champions League can chew you up and spit you out when you think the job is already done.
Having turned around a 3-0 deficit against Barcelona at Anfield, Klopp will make sure his side do not take anything for granted.
When the game kicks off in Spain, the scores are level and he will be sending his team to win yet another game.

    Games come thick and fast
Liverpool travel to Newcastle on the weekend to keep their bid for a quadruple alive in their hunt to chase down Man City.
At one stage, 14 points behind their rivals, with five games left they hope that should City drop points that they capitalise.
Then the trip to Spain to finish the job off against Villarreal.
    Villarreal undone by Spanish maestro
The man of the match award goes to Thiago Alcântara.
From the off he was orchestrating things in midfield and pulling the strings for Liverpool, finally helping unpick the visitors defence.

    All attention turns to Spain
Both semi-finals will be settled on the shores of Spain.
Liverpool head to the east coast to Estadio de la Ceramica while Man City travel to The Bernabeu in Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will know the job is only half complete.
    Rampant reds march on
