    Team news
Jurgen Klopp named a weakened side for the win over Southampton in Tuesday evening.
Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk were both on the bench, after both came off in the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
Salah can win the Premier League golden boot, even if he does not play and Heung-min Son fails to score for Tottenham.
Fabinho also needs assessing ahead of the clash with Wolves but the Liverpool boss has confirmed that the Brazilian is “progressing well” so he could be involved.
Klopp will want to be sure he has a fully fit squad to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 28.
Bruno Lage had to cope without Max Kilman, Nelson Semedo and Roman Saiss in Wolves’ disappointing 1-1 draw with Norwich which could see them all out for the final game of the season.
However, Daniel Podence was fit enough to feature in a 15 minute cameo so the Portuguese winger should be in contention to play from the start.

    Zaha haunts United
It’s the former United man who gives Palace the lead at Selhurst Park.
Wilfried Zaha, who couldn’t get a look in at Old Trafford but is so often Palace’s talisman, with the goal.
Patrick Vieira always loved coming up against Man Utd.
Will he win against them as a boss too?
    Spot ten Hag
Erik ten Hag is in attendance at Selhurst Park! The incoming Man Utd boss is watching his new players in action against Crystal Palace alongside assistant Mitchell van der Gaag.
He doesn’t seem to be too happy either with what he’s seen so far.
Lots of work to do, he surely ponders.

Cavani and Mejbri start for Manchester United
Ralf Rangnick has named Cavani in his last game as Manchester United manager against Crystal Palace. The Red Devils are without Cristiano Ronaldo this afternoon, who is unavailable with a hip injury.
In addition, the Austrian has called up teenager, Hannibal Mejbri. Harry Maguire also returns to the back four.

Man Utd starting XI for today
Here is the team showing what they have in front of new gaffer Erik ten Hag.
    19-year-old Hannibal Mejbri starts.

Will the kids play? – Line up revealed in two minutes
Man Utd are set to give the kids a chance against Crystal Palace as Charlie Savage among youngsters spotted travelling to London.
Savage, 19, could make his Premier League debut after being named in the travelling squad for their final game of the season, writes Jake Lambourne.
The Red Devils face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday in a game that will decide what European competition they will be playing next term.
Failure to beat the Eagles could see United drop down into seventh and into the Uefa Conference League.
United must claim the three points in South London or hope West Ham fail to beat Brighton at the Amex Stadium to secure a place in the Europa League.
And United could decide to give their youngsters a chance, with Charlie Savage, Shola Shoretire and Alvaro Fernandez all named in their squad.
The trio were snapped before making their way down to the capital, where they will be looking to impress incoming manager Erik ten Hag should they be given any game time.
United ‘need a reset’, says Mata
Mata went on to say United need a “reset” after a tough few seasons, demanding players “meet the standards” required to turn out for the club.
He said: “Being at Man Utd, this club needs first-class individuals for each department.
“This club should be top of the class in every department, on pitch or off. That is the only way I see this club competing for the biggest trophies.
“That’s what I hope for in the near future, otherwise you cannot compete with clubs who are doing very good things with a certain identity and professionalism in the way they make decisions.

“When you think about Man Utd you think about the best level possible, as far as I understood football growing up.
“I don’t understand this club without having first-class individuals for each department.”
Mata continued: “We have made many mistakes… we could have also dealt better with certain situations that were happening in the club, managers changing, negative things.
“Certain standards were not met. Whether that’s attitude, level of training, off the pitch, which doesn’t include players, we haven’t been good enough.
“We need a reset in the culture of the club. That’s how I feel.
    Mata could stay in Manchester
Juan Mata has hinted he could sensationally STAY at Manchester United, writes Dave Fraser.
The long-serving Spanish playmaker, 34, was widely expected to quit Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer with his contract expiring, despite rumours of retiring or going into coaching.
But Mata has confirmed he will hold off making any decisions until he has spoken to Ten Hag – who will officially start work on Monday, following United’s final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
Mata told The Athletic: “I will see when we speak how we feel, what his ideas are…
“After that a decision will be made.”
    Rangnick admits Ronaldo compromise
Ralf Rangnick also laments his asking of a 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo to be part of a high-pressing side.
He continued: “I am not blaming Cristiano at all, he did great in games, but he is not a pressing monster.
“Even when he was young, he wasn’t shouting, “The other team has the ball, where can we win balls?

‘It was the same with quite a few other players so we had to make compromises at one stage.
“We never found the right balance between what do we need with the ball and without the ball.”
    Rangnick shoulders the blame
Interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick blames himself for the club’s collapse this season, writes Chisanga Malata.
The German was brought in to steady the ship following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure last November but failed to get the squad to completely buy into his philosophy.
Rangnick’s failure to adapt his strategy to his squad’s strengths has left United in a final-day battle for the Europa League spot that comes with sixth place.
And he shoulders the blame for the club losing their last five away matches on the bounce, saying: “We never came near to that aggressive, pro-active football I’d normally want to do.
“It has to do with physicality if you want to play like that. I should have done better and developed this team in a more sustainable way.”
Savage and co in the United squad today

Luke Shaw could be missing on Sunday
The Red Devils face the Eagles away at Selhurst Park in their final Premier League game of the season TODAY.
Luke Shaw is a doubt to feature for Manchester United against Crystal Palace on Sunday following the birth of his second child.
    Congratulations Luke and Anouska!
Ronaldo to miss Prem finale through injury
Cristiano Ronaldo has withdrawn from Manchester United’s squad for today’s Prem finale at Crystal Palace with a hip injury.
The Red Devils need victory to seal sixth place.
But 24-goal top-scorer Ron, 37, is suddenly sidelined.
Spurs ‘pave way for Utd on Johnstone’
Manchester United could be in pole position for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone as Tottenham reportedly eye Fraser Forster instead.
Manchester United could be in pole position for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone as Tottenham reportedly eye Fraser Forster instead.
Red Devils’ second-choice stopper Dean Henderson could be loaned out, with Bournemouth and Fulham keen.
And United have been linked with Johnstone long before Erik ten Hag was named as incoming manager.
Red Devils’ second-choice stopper Dean Henderson could be loaned out, with Bournemouth and Fulham keen.
Even Legends can’t salvage Utd pride
United’s Legends were humbled just as much as the mediocre current squad have been this season as Mark Gonzalez hit a stunner in a 3-1 Charity match win for Liverpool’s oldies.
The former Chile midfielder only spent one season at Anfield in 2006-07 – scoring two Premier League goals.

But he notched a superb 30-yard free-kick past United sub keeper Kevin Pilkington and a stoppage-time clincher.
A goalless first half was played in high spirits for good causes, including the Man Utd Foundation, with £1.3million raised as Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher captained the two teams and the likes of Patrice Evra, Jaap Stam and Andriy Voronin took part.
But Liverpool came flying out of the blocks in the second 45.
Replacement forward Luis Garcia’s cheeky stepover beat Raimond van der Gouw all ends up and Garcia rounded the keeper to roll in the opener.
Dimitar Berbatov won a penalty three minutes later to coolly slot in for 1-1.
But Dirk Kuyt hit the post for Liverpool before Gonzalez struck twice to give them victory.
    Cottagers want Matic talks
EXCLUSIVE: Fulham want to talk veteran Nemanja Matic into staying in the Prem after he leaves Manchester United, writes ALAN NIXON.
The Championship winners are keen to bring the ex-Chelsea midfielder back to London.
Matic, 33, has played a key role at United lately and is still very capable at the top level.
But he is choosing to move on rather than be part of Erik ten Hag’s revolution.
Foreign interest in Matic is great but he could get a deal that works for him at Fulham and can slot back into life in London, after two great spells with the Blues.
Matic revealed he would leave United last month in a lengthy statement on social media.
    Aaron eyes new Utd contract
EXCLUSIVE: Aaron Wan-Bissaka wants a new deal at United — but has been told to wait on Erik ten Hag’s verdict on his future, writes ALAN NIXON.
The right-back is out of contract in two years.
United blocked recent inquiries for him, prompting AWB’s team to ask for a long-term deal instead.
Crystal Palace have been linked with re-signing their academy star, but Wan-Bissaka is on more than the Eagles usually pay.
Even a loan return to Selhurst Park would be difficult to sort due to his current wages.
Incoming boss Ten Hag will pass judgement on the current squad, with United expected to make a number of changes this summer.
    Erik’s caged Devils
EXCLUSIVE: Erik ten Hag plans to cage in his players as part of his grand plan to rebuild Manchester United, writes PHIL THOMAS.
The new Old Trafford gaffer has already handed training ground staff details of what he wants when he starts work this summer.

And that includes prepping a five-a-side pitch for what Ten Hag has labelled “cage work,” when players are put through a confined space-session.
United’s smaller pitch at their Carrington base is already fenced in and there will be no excuses – or escape – for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ten Hag is believed to also want some of the half-sized pitches redrawn to replicate the ones he used on a daily basis at Ajax.
A United insider said: “The new manager has already provided a number of technical requests and the staff are working hard to have it ready
“The astro five-a-side pitch is named the Adidas Predator Zone and the lads use it for fun and games – but Ten Hag has daily plans for it.
“He wants the players locked in and uncomfortable until they are totally at ease with it. The pitch is caged in and he wants it ready to go.
“The club is determined to give him everything he needs and it is currently all hands to the pump at Carrington.”
    Morning, United fans
Crocked Cristiano Ronaldo is out of United’s Prem finale at Crystal Palace.
Victory would assure the Red Devils of retaining sixth place.
But 24-goal top-scorer Ron, 37, is sidelined with a hip injury.
The Old Trafford legend’s fellow Portugal star Diogo Dalot hopes to show incoming boss Erik ten Hag this afternoon there’s no need to buy a new right-back.
And Aaron Wan-Bissaka wants a new deal beyond 2025 – despite losing his regular place to Dalot’s greater attacking ability.
Predictably, Wan-Bissaka has been told to wait for Ten Hag’s verdict.
Midfield anchorman Nemanja Matic has confirmed his upcoming departure from Old Trafford – with Fulham now showing interest.
The Prem new boys hope to talk to the Serbia ace even though Juventus are frontrunners to sign the 33-year-old ahead of Roma.
Finally, the Red Devils could be in pole position for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone as Tottenham reportedly eye Southampton’s Fraser Forster instead.

Astonishing – it’s Callum Wilson with the penalty after 20 minutes – following a daft handball by Nathan Collins.
Remember, all Leeds have to do is better Burnley’s result.
    Disaster at Anfield
Wolves have put a spanner in the works in the title race!
Just three minutes in and Pedro Neto has shocked the hosts – and there are cheers around Etihad.
Still, long, long, long way to go.
But that wasn’t on the cards!
    Title hopefuls receive heroes’ welcome
There were similar sensational scenes at the Etihad Stadium and Anfield earlier as the Manchester City and Liverpool players arrived for their respective games.
Whose dreams will go up in smoke? Will the flare players decide where the Premier League trophy ends up?

    LaLiga will complain to Uefa
LaLiga have blasted Kylia Mbappe’s stunning U-turn as “scandalous” and will file a complaint to Uefa about Paris Saint-Germain “attacking the stability of football”, writes Joshua Jones.
The bitter Spanish top flight also launched a stinging attack on PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Superstar forward Mbappe, 23, looked on course to sign for Real Madrid as a free agent this summer.
But Mbappe has decided to stay put at PSG and has signed a three-year contract at the Parc des Princes worth a whopping £500m contract including a £250m signing-on bonus fee.
LaLiga said: “This type of agreement attacks the economic stability of European football, putting at risk hundreds of thousands of jobs and the integrity of the sport.
“It is scandalous that a club like PSG, which last season reported losses of more than 220 million euros can close such an agreement, while those clubs that could afford the hiring of the player without seeing their wage bill compromised, are left without being able to sign him.
“LaLiga will file a complaint against PSG before Uefa, the French administrative and fiscal authorities and European Union authorities to continue to defend the economic ecosystem of European football and its sustainability.”
    Guardiola motivates the City fans
Pep Guardiola tells City fans to be loud today in their quest for the Premier League title.
Boss Guardiola pumped up the crowd in his manager’s column in the programme.
He said: “I want to feel you alive, non-stop.
“We want loud, loud and loud. Right?”

    Clarets want £40M for Pope
EXCLUSIVE: Burnley are asking a staggering £40million for keeper Nick Pope — whether they stay in the Premier League or not, writes ALAN NIXON.
Pope, 30, will be a wanted man this summer and Fulham are keen, with a potential three-year contract on offer.
But the Clarets want a huge fee for the England ace.
As SunSport revealed earlier this year, Fulham have been eyeing Pope for a while, while West Ham have also been linked.
But the clubs had hoped to pay closer to £20m – especially with Burnley staring at relegation.
But Mata has confirmed he will hold off making any decisions until he has spoken to Ten Hag – who will officially start work on Monday, following United‘s final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
Mata told The Athletic: “I will see when we speak how we feel, what his ideas are…
“After that a decision will be made.”
Leeds hanging on for dear life
Leeds fans could have never imagined that their second consecutive season in the Premier League since their return would have turned out like this.
The Whites are hanging on for dear life but even a win over an in-form Brentford side may not be enough to see them stay up.
With Norwich and Watford already relegated, it only leaves one survival spot left and Burnley are currently holding onto that.
And a win for the Clarets over Newcastle would be enough for them to secure a place in England’s top division next season
However, the Magpies will want to conclude their campaign with a win and they’ll be still thriving off that convincing win over Arsenal.
    Polishing the PL golden boot
Putting aside the thrilling conclusion of the Premier League season, it is also time to crown the league’s top goal scorer with the golden boot award which is also going right down to the wire.
Harry Kane collected the trophy last season with 23 goals, but it is his attacking teammate Hueng-min Son who is chasing it this year with 21 goals.
However, the man leading the charts for the golden boot currently on 22 goals is Liverpool talisman Mo Salah.
Mo Salah (Liverpool) – 22 goalsHeung-min Son (Tottenham) – 21 goalsCristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd) – 18 goalsHarry Kane (Tottenham) – 16 goalsKevin De Bruyne (Man City) – 15 goalsDiogo Jota (Liverpool) – 15 goalsSadio Mane (Liverpool) – 15 goalsJamie Vardy (Leicester) – 14 goalsRaheem Sterling (Man City) – 13 goalsWilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – 13 goals
The Premier League finale is here – three hours to go
This is it – the Premier League finale has arrived, with a shiny trophy up for grabs for Manchester City or Liverpool.
Liverpool are hoping to crush Manchester City’s dreams of securing the title which would keep their unprecedented quadruple hopes alive.
The Reds overcame Chelsea twice on penalties to lift both the Carabao and the FA Cup at Wembley.
And Jurgen Klopp’s men still have the Champions League final to look forward to next weekend when they take on Real Madrid in a mouth-watering clash.
But Liverpool’s main focus today will be to beat Wolves and hope that Man City slip up against Aston Villa.
Many expect Pep Guardiola’s side to get the job done, but with the Liverpool legend being the boss of Villa, he’ll be desperate to do his boyhood club a favour.

Arsenal have ‘failed’ if they finish fifth, says Richards
Micah Richards was asked if it would be a failure for Arsenal to finish fifth.
He told the Daily Mail: “It is and it isn’t. At the start of the season, no one expected them to be here, fighting for fourth.
“But the way they’ve ended the season, you’d say they have failed. Arteta likes them to play a particular way.
“But when you’re going into a north London derby with a top-four spot at stake, just manage the game! You don’t need to go out all guns blazing.
“It felt a little naive of Arsenal, what they did against Tottenham and then Newcastle, the last game of the season at a jumping St James’ Park. You’ve got to find another way to play.”
‘ There will be a twist’ in title race, says Richards
Micah Richards says it won’t be plain sailing for his former club tomorrow.
Man City need all three points to secure the title – providing Liverpool win at home to Wolves.
Whilst speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “I think City will win — but I also think there will be a twist. It won’t be 5-0 and all singing and dancing.
“It’s the 10-year anniversary of the 93:20, the Sergio Aguerooooo moment.
“I don’t think we’ll get that level of drama, but I don’t think it’ll be straightforward.”
Di Maria leaves PSG in tears
Angel Di Maria marked his final Paris Saint-Germain game with a farewell goal as he left the pitch in a flood of tears after being given a standing ovation, writes Jake Lambourne.
The 34-year-old got on the scoresheet in Saturday’s 5-0 win against Metz as he picked up his fifth Ligue 1 winner’s medal.
Di Maria will now be departing Parc des Princes as a free agent after Les Parisiens decided against triggering a one-year contract extension.

It was understood that the Argentine winger will now link up with Juventus on an initial deal until 2023, with the option to extend it.
But after the game the one-time Manchester United flop laughed off claims the deal was done, saying: “Juventus deal? No, no – I’m quiet, there’s time, I have to think… it’s not just my decision.
“I’ve always thought of myself and my family. I’ll make the best choice for everyone – my two daughters, my wife and me”.
What does this mean for PSG?
Mbappe finally announced he will stay in the French capital.
This after weeks of build up in which many Madristras were excited at the prospect of seeing him walk out for Real at the Bernabeu.
This puts the Parisians back in contention for the Champions League title next season.
Presumably now, the elite trio of Mbappe, Neymar and Leo Messi will be in force next season.
Messi’s agent has rejected claims the star will join David Beckham’s Inter Miami next year.
Reports emerged saying the Argentina legend is set to join the Florida-based side once his Paris Saint-Germain deal ends in 2023.
    Mbappe seals contract with hat-trick
Kylian Mbappe toasted the perfect day by scoring a special hat-trick for Paris Saint-Germain as they thumped Metz 5-0.
The striker, 23, was presented to his adoring fans before kick-off against Metz at the Parc des Princes.
Earlier on he put pen to paper on a staggering new three-year contract worth a whopping £500million in total.
The first, on 24 minutes, saw him race through on goal, cut inside the onrushing goalkeeper and slide the ball in between the covering defenders .

Four minutes later, Mbappe made it 2-0 and Neymar added a third with half an hour on the clock as PSG ran riot.
Mbappe completed his hat-trick five minutes into the second half and 77 minutes after his new contract was confirmed as he pounced on Boubakar Kouyate who dawdled on the ball on the edge of the area.
The striker picked his pocket, rounded Marc-Aurele Caillard, and stroked into the unguarded net to ensure May 21 would be truly unforgettable.
Mbappe and PSG confirm massive Mbappe deal
Kylian Mbappe and PSG confirmed he’s STAYING in a shock snub for Real Madrid that will earn him £500MILLION.
The 23-year-old revealed the news about his future yesterday instead of on Sunday morning on French TV channel TF1 as planned.
PSG posted a short video of Mbappe standing on the roof of the Parc des Princes with the message: ‘Our history is written… This is Paris’.
The post racked up tens of thousands of likes within minutes of being posted as PSG fans went wild with the news.
Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for 12 months, ever since he approached the final year of his contract with the Ligue 1 giants.
He was on the cusp of joining Los Blancos prior to the 2021-22 season before a £137million bid fell through at the final hour.
Fulham also want to talk veteran Nemanja Matic into staying in the Prem after he leaves Manchester United.
    Overnight transfer gossip
Kylian Mbappe agreeing a new £0.5BILLION PSG contract dwarfs all other transfer news – but Arsenal did their bit with a ‘mega offer’ for Victor Osimhen.
France striker Mbappe U-turned on joining Real Madrid with a staggering three-year deal to stay in Paris.
Napoli, though, have reportedly rejected a £75million Gunners bid for Nigeria striker Osimhen.
Fulham will attempt to persuade Manchester United anchorman Nemanja Matic to join them ahead of Juventus and Roma.
Speaking of United, the Red Devils could be in pole position for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone as Tottenham reportedly eye Southampton’s Fraser Forster instead.
And RB Leipzig’s Croatia ace Josko Gvardiol is the latest name linked with replacing Chelsea’s out-of-contract centre-back Antonio Rudiger.
Gvardiol’s dad Timohir reportedly held talks in London with Blues’ boss Thomas Tuchel.
Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin is said to be keen on turning his Real Betis loan into a permanent move.
Lastly, Everton boss Frank Lampard wants Chelsea’s 19-year-old young central defender Levi Colwill.
Lampard hopes his old club agree a loan switch next term after Colwill’s brilliant form helped Huddersfield to the play-off final.
    Ham Scam twitch
EXCLUSIVE: West Ham will step up interest in £25million-rated Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, writes DAN KING.
But if rival bids from the likes of Newcastle push the price up, the Hammers may turn their focus to Torino captain Andrea Belotti.

Scamacca, 23 and 6ft 4in tall, is a man in demand thanks to a breakout Serie A campaign that has earned him his first senior caps for Italy.
He has scored 16 goals in 35 league matches but may well have played his final game for Sassuolo.
Opponents AC Milan and city rivals Inter are among the host of clubs considering a summer move for Scamacca.
He would cost at least £25m and Premier League interest could drive the asking price far higher.
    Clarets want £40M for Pope

Pope, 30, will be a wanted man this summer and Fulham are keen, with a potential three-year contract on offer.

Sergio Perez and George Russell occupied second and third spot in the charts.
And the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton climbed from the pits of hell to snatch fifth which was incredible considering he had a punctured tyre on lap one.

    Russell hurts
George Russell has revealed Mercedes were “hurt” battling with Red Bull at time during the Spanish Grand Prix.
He said: “It hurt us a lot to be honest but when I had the Red Bulls in my mirrors all I was doing was everything to keep them behind.
“But it was an enjoyable couple of laps and I’m pleased to be able to bring it home for P3 and the points for the team.
“Well done to Max, he did a great job.”
    What a race!
    A win for Max.
    Leclerc lost his power.
    Podium finish for Russell.
Fifth for Hamilton after a puncture on the first lap.
And fourth for local lad Sainz after spinning out early.
Here’s how it finished in Barcelona…

    Verstappen
    Perez
    Russell
    Sainz
    Hamilton

MAX VERSTAPPEN WINS THE SPANISH GP!
The Red Bull man wins his third race in a row to take the championship lead for the first time this season.
But he had to do it the hard way after experiencing DNS issues in the early stages.

Issues force Hamilton back to P5
The team radios in to hand over some bad news that there seems to be some issue with the Mercedes.
Bono tells Hamilton not to defend if Sainz fights back and as a result the Ferrari man takes back P4.
The Silver Arrows man can be proud of his performance today.
    Progress has been made.
    Hamilton snatches P4!
    Wow.
The Mercedes driver shows why he is a seven-time world champion as he wastes no time in getting past Sainz.
He said before the race he thinks the car is now capable of battling with the Ferrari and it seems to be true.
But nobody thought he would be overtaking one after suffering a puncture on Lap 1!
    Bottas makes a mistake!
The Finnish driver goes too wide and allows Sainz through the gap before Hamilton also capitalises and moves up to P5.
What a drive this is from the Mercedes driver, those upgrades have definitely worked.
    10 laps to go!
As expected, Perez takes the fastest lap off Hamilton with ease just moments after putting on new tyres.
But here is how podium looks as it stands:

    VER
    PER
    RUSS

Bottas follows in fourth but Sainz and Hamilton are gaining on the Alfa Romeo driver…
    Hamilton takes the fastest lap
The Mercedes man shows still has it as he takes the fastest and an extra championship point.
However, teammate Russell and Red Bull’s Perez have just put on a new set of slick tyres as they attempt to snatch it off him.
Red Bull tell Perez to make way
The messages comes in that Perez is on a different strategy to Max and he should let him pass.
The Mexican replies: “That’s unfair, but ok.”
And just like that Verstappen takes the lead of the race and also the championship.
    16 laps to go!
Lap 45 – Max pits to give Perez the lead
The Dutch driver hands the lead back over to his teammate as he pits for a fresh set of mediums.
Crucially he comes out in front of Russell so it’s still a Red Bull 1-2.
But will Perez hand back the lead?
With Leclerc’s retirement, if Max takes the chequered flag he will take the championship lead.
Lap 38 – Max takes the lead
Despite all his DRS problems earlier on in the race, the Dutchman now finds himself in the lead.
He was gaining on Russell before the Mercedes man pitted for fresh tyres.
It looked like he was going to have to fight his teammate Perez for the lead but a change of strategy sees the Mexican also sees pit.
    Smart move by Red Bull.
They now have a two car buffer between themselves and Russell.
    Lewis is on the move!
After a forced change of tyres on Lap 1, the Mercedes driver come in again early for his second stop.
And it seems to be working out as with the rest of the field also coming in, Hamilton is now up to sixth.
Not bad considering he was down to 18th at one stage!
    Credit: AP
    Zhou forced into retirement
The Chinese driver follows Leclerc into retiring from the race following a technical issue.
And his Alfa Romeo team-mate Valteri Bottas has just been picked off by Verstappen for 3rd.
Lap 30 – Perez over takes Russell for the lead
We are creeping up to the half way stage in Barcelona and we have a new leader.
Red Bull driver Perez is currently on a one-stop strategy and has the tyres to get round the Mercedes for the lead.
Question will be whether the Mexican can hang out now until the end.
    Leclerc loses power!
The Ferrari man yells down the radio as his Ferrari loses power.
He is straight into the pits and doesn’t come back out, meaning Russell takes the lead!
Leclerc’s race is over and it’s his first DNF of the season.
No doubt his championship dreams have taken a hit as a result.
    Credit: AP
    Excellent driving from Russell!
The Mercedes driver stays P2 after some superb driving to fend off Verstappen.
Max gets through at Turn one but Russell fights back after going wheel-to-wheel and squeezes back into second.
Unbelievable from the Silver Arrows newbie.
Lap 22 – Leclerc pits from the lead
The Ferrari heads into garage for his first pit stop of the race but with huge a huge lead he rejoins the track back in front.
Max meanwhile is still showing swearing down the radio to his team as his DRS isn’t opening despite him pressing it “over 50 times.”
    Max still having DRS issues
The Red Bull driver was unable to challenge for pole yesterday after his DRS flap failed to open on his final flying lap.
But despite claiming the system had been fixed prior to the race, the team has radioed in to tell him it is still not working.
The Dutch man is effing and blinding in his cockpit. He knows he will need DRS if he is going to have any chance of winning this race.
    Leclerc seizes the advantage
With Max spinning out, the Ferrari driver has built 14 second lead over Perez who has climbed up to P2 after Russell pitted for new tyres.
However, we may see that gap close up as Leclerc is yet to come in for a fresh set.
    And now Verstappen goes off!
Almost a carbon copy Sainz’s spin, the Red Bull driver slides off track at turn four.
He manages to rejoin the race but is down to P4 and those stones would have not done his tyres any good.
Meanwhile, Russell is now up to 2nd with Perez in 3rd.
    Hamilton’s had enough
After his dreadful start, the Mercedes man has asked his team over the radio to retire the car and save his engine.
It’s a staggering comment given there was so much hope they had turned a corner with their new upgrades this weekend.
    Sainz Spins on Lap 7!
The Ferrari man loses grip and spins into the gravel, lucky he manages to get back on the track but he is down to 11th.
    Nightmare for the Spaniard!
It’s his home race, the crowd would have not liked to see that.
    Hamilton pits with a puncture!
It’s not the perfect start for the Mercedes driver who was looking to build on his P6 finish.
After coming together with Magnussen, he is forced to pit early which sees him come out 18th.
    And it’s lights out!
Leclerc manages to hold off Verstappen at the first corner and holds onto the lead.
Russell has made his way up to P3 as Sainz’s poor start.
But Haas driver Kevin Magnussen spins into the gravel after his front left tyre tagged Hamilton’s Mercedes.

Brighton 3 West Ham 1: Hammers consigned to Europa Conference League after goals from Veltman and Gross

NO MATTER what he says, this was not the European competition David Moyes wanted.West Ham arrived on the South Coast knowing they were already guaranteed a place in Europe next season.

Seventh spot was theirs, the Europa Conference League the prize, but a favourable final-day switcheroo would have seen them leap into sixth and return to the Europa League.
All the Hammers needed was to beat Brighton at the Amex and hope Crystal Palace denied Manchester United from all three points.
Palace did their jobs. Moyes’ men floundered at the last hurdle.
Sure, European football for a second successive season is nothing to be sniffed at, especially considering West Ham were battling relegation a few years ago.
But the Europa League – where they made so many great memories this year in reaching the semi-finals – was in their grasp after Michail Antonio fired in a first-half opener.
Yet second half strikes from Joel Veltman, Pascal Gross and Danny Welbeck crushed those dreams of going one better next campaign.
It was a fiercely-contested game at the AmexCredit: Reuters
An impressive home win meanwhile handed Graham Potter’s men their highest ever Prem finish of ninth, just five points off West Ham.
Unsurprisingly, Moyes kept the same starting XI from his side’s impressive 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the London Stadium last time out.
Retiring skipper Mark Noble was on the bench hoping to make his 550th and final appearance for the club while the injured Said Benrahma was left out altogether.
Brighton made just the one change with Leandro Trossard dropping out after picking up a knock against Leeds with Adam Webster coming into a back three.
In need of a victory to end their season on a high, history was against West Ham who had failed to win any of their nine Prem meetings with Brighton before this one.
Six of those were draws, and the early stages of their 10th top-flight clash had all the makings of another in the seaside sunshine.
The Hammers may have still been playing for something, but their relaxed start said otherwise with just 31 per cent possession in the opening 15 minutes.

Moises Caicedo was in the thick of things – fresh off his stunning goal here against Man United – as he tested Fabianski’s palms with a low effort.
The Ecuadorian was then gifted yet more space on the edge of West Ham’s box before teeing up Marc Cucurella for a blocked attempt.
Moyes was spitting feathers at his team’s lack of enthusiasm to get on the ball and impact the game without it.
The atmosphere was in need of some spicing up too, and that came from the away end as news filtered through in the 37th minute of Palace taking the lead at Selhurst Park.
And three minutes later, they were cheering for their own team as Antonio shrugged off Lewis Dunk just outside the box from a Vladimir Coufal throw-in.
The 32-year-old smacked it with his laces into Robert Sanchez’ top corner for West Ham’s first shot on target.
Astonishingly, the strike was Antonio’s FIRST Prem goal from outside the box at the 56th attempt, while it also took his season tally to 10.
The goal sparked wild complaints from the hosts for a foul on Dunk in the build-up.

Replays showed the Gulls centre back – all 6ft4 of him – went down in a heap from very little contact.
An undeserving lead perhaps, and Brighton came out in the second half a completely different animal thanks to a half time switch of Neal Maupay for Yves Bissouma.
The French striker caused the West Ham backline mayhem instantly and Potter was rewarded with a 50th minute equaliser.
Solly March controlled the ball brilliantly in the box only to set up Veltman, whose shot squirmed under the body of Fabianski.
One to forget for the Polish keeper, and one that inspired Brighton to go for the kill.
Cucurella slipped in Maupay in the six-yard box but was eventually cleared by Aaron Cresswell, while Danny Welbeck went close after a 1-2 with Pascal Gross.
West Ham were living life dangerously, clinging to any counter attack they could spring with little success or potency down the other end.
Moyes was preparing to react by making a trio of changes with 10 minutes left, including Noble, but Gross scuppered his plans by finding the net.

Burnley RELEGATED to Championship after 2-1 defeat against Newcastle as Leeds beat Brentford on final day of season

AT least Burnley can say they went down fighting – they just didn’t expect the knockout punch to come from within their own ranks.Nathan Collins will never be able to explain quite why he stuck out a hand to flick away Kieran Trippier’s 18th minute corner for Newcastle’s opener.

And while there was still plenty of time after Callum Wilson’s penalty, courtesy of the inevitable VAR decision, that was the moment which broke Burnley hearts.
Yes, there was another goal from striker Wilson to add to it, and true, the Clarets still had enough chances to save themselves.
But that was the instant, that was the second, when Turf Moor just knew what was coming.
At the end Collins was in floods of tears, and full credit to the classy Newcastle players who raced over to haul him to his feet and attempt to comfort him. They had no chance.

Plenty of others in claret and blue were sobbing their hearts out too. Leeds’ late winner at Brentford meant not even an equaliser would have been enough.
They were down. After six successive years in the Premier League, the fairytstory was over. Trips to Old Trafford, the Etihad and Anfield had become Blackpool, Bristol and deadly rivals Blackburn.
Maybe there was simply too much at stake. Maybe that’s why it seemed to get to them for so long.
Whatever reason, Burnley were never really at it until far too late. And your mind just kept going back to that rush of blood moment from Collins.

When ex-Claret Trippier curled over a delicious corner, a fully extended Nick Pope just managed to get his fingertips to it.
Whether Sean Longstaff, lurking beyond the far post, would have been able to react in time is debatable. Collins ensured he wouldn’t.
The defender himself immediately spun on his heel towards referee Craig Pawson, hoping desperately to get away with it.
But he knew, his Burnley team-mates knew, the fans knew, and a penalty box full of appealing Toon players certainly did.
Pawson was advised to take a second look by VAR official Jarred Gillett, the spot kick was given and when Pope dived left, Callum Wilson stuck it in the opposite corner.
That was bad enough, but coming at the same time news was filtering through that Joe Gelhardt had put Leeds ahead did bring the words “salt” and “wound” to mind.
So when it emerged that Gelhardt’s goal had been ruled out, it was as though the Clarets themselves had scored. That alone says much about their afternoon.

It took 38 minutes for them to get anything like a sight of Martin Dubravka’s goal – a Dwight McNeil 25-yarder – and even that was a couple of feet over.
If another goal was coming, it was from the men in black and white. And bang on half time it would have been had it not been for the reflexes of keeper Pope.
So many times already this season he has been the Clarets saviour, and it was the same story when he dived low to his left to deny the Frenchman.
A lesson learned about giving Saint-Maximin space? Not a bit of it, because an hour in he had all the time in the world to angle a low ball across the box and Wilson buried it.
At that second he looked to have done the same to Burnley’s ever-fading hopes of survival as well.
But to their credit the Clarets stuck at it, kept pounding away – albeit with all the finesse of a bull in a china shop at times – and got something to cling onto with 20 minutes left.
Collins earned himself an assist of the wanted kind with a delightful delivery from the right which Maxwell Cornet struck true with his right foot and Dubravka blocked.

Yet as it spun back to the striker, he kept his cool to volley home with the other, and suddenly it was game on.
When Brentford made it all square nearly 200 miles south, Turf Moor positively rocked. Amazingly, after being second best for so long, Burnley only needed a goal to stay up.
Giant striker Wout Weghorst stretched all of his 6ft 5ins frame to reach Ashley Barnes’ drilled cross, but it flew inches wide.
Jack Cork’s thunderbolt was heading for the top corner until Matt Targett somehow headed it out from a yard off the line.
And in the very last seconds Cornet found himself clean through, only to take too long to get his shot away and he was crowded out.
The last chance had gone. The last hope had faded. The last whistle had been blown and they had simply run out of time.
Of course we know it is all about 38 games, rather than one afternoon in May when fates are sealed and relegations decided.

Brighton vs West Ham LIVE: Score, updates and team news as Hammers scrap on south coast for final Europa League place

WEST HAM close out a fruitful Premier League season against in-form Brighton at the AMEX this weekend. They still have much to play for, with Europa League football over Europa Conference League football still a possibility.
Follow the latest updates from the game below…

BIG FINALE LIVE: Stay up to date with all the Premier League final day SunSport’s live blog

The Hammers drew 2-2 with Manchester City in their final home game last weekend, while Brighton drew 1-1 against Leeds.
Before that, however, Brighton put on a clinic by beating Man Utd 4-0 on home turf, and will present a tough task as always for David Moyes’ men.
Since Brighton were promoted to the Premier League in 2017, West Ham have not been able to beat them in nine outings, losing three and drawing the other six.
But West Ham will be looking to change that statistic on Sunday, with a place in next season’s Europa League at stake.

Burnley’s loss to Spurs saw them drop into the relegation zoneCredit: Rex
Getting a result for Burnley won’t be easy – Newcastle have had a sensational turnaround since the appointment of Eddie Howe last November.
Only league leaders Manchester City and Liverpool have earned more points than Newcastle this calendar year – which was added to in their most recent dominant display against Arsenal.
And now, Newcastle can finish off their campaign with a successful trip to Burnley if they play their cards right.
But the Clarets are in need of a positive result otherwise they could be heading into the Championship next season with already relegated Watford and Norwich.
What time does Burnley vs Newcastle kick off?

Burnley entertain Newcastle United on Sunday, May 22 – the final day of the season.
It is scheduled to kick off at 4pm UK time.
Turf Moor in Burnley is the assigned arena for this huge relegation clash which can hold approximately 21,000 supporters.
Callum Wilson’s 40th minute strike was enough for the Magpies to scrape a win against Burnley earlier on in the campaign.

What TV channel is Burnley vs Newcastle on and can I live stream it?

Burnley vs Newcastle has not been announced as one of Sky Sports’ TV games for the final day.
Brentford vs Leeds, Liverpool vs Wolves and Man City vs Newcastle have been chosen.

    Team news
Burnley’s lengthy injury list was not helped by Matthew Lowton’s controversial red card against Aston Villa.
Which means the defender will join Erik Pieters, Benn Mee, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Ashley Wood and Matej Vydra on the side-lines.
However Jay Rodriguez is 50/50 to return whilst James Tarkowski both made the last match-day squad.
Jonjo Shelvey, Federico Fernandez, Isaac Hayden, Joe Willock and Jamal Lewis missed out on Newcastle’s fantastic performance against Arsenal which casts them all as doubts for the final game of the season.
However, Callum Wilson is expected to make his second successive start and Ryan Fraser was able to feature in a 15 minutes cameo last time out.
