    Bailly row
According to reports, Man Utd recalled Eric Bailly from Ivory Coast when staff discovered he was in a different location that was agreed upon.
Bailly returned home late from the African Cup of Nations, and injured too.
The Athletic reporter Laurie Whitwell says Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick tore into him when he returned in front of the whole squad.
    Russian intelligence
Ralf Rangnick received intelligence from Russia during his stint as Manchester United interim manager, reports suggest.
According to The Athletic, Rangnick was in constant contact with former Lokomotiv Moscow assistant Lars Kornetka during his six-month stint at Old Trafford.
The German tactician wanted to bring Kornetka with him to Manchester but he stayed in Russia due to commitments with Lokomotiv.
The two men have been working together for more than a decade at Hoffenheim, Schalke and RB Leipzig.
Rangnick rates his fellow German’s insight so highly that he has been tapping into him since the day he took over the Red Devils’ hotseat.
Kornetka would talk to the 63-year-old’s assistant Ewan Sharp on match days and the now former United caretaker boss always checked his phone at half-time.
    Real deal
Real Madrid have reportedly opened talks with Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni in a blow to a string of Premier League sides.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are among the teams who had been targeting the highly-rated midfielder.
Madrid will be hunting for high-profile summer signings after being snubbed by Kylian Mbappe on Saturday.
And journalist Santi Aouna reports that the Spanish club has been in contact and ready to make an offer.
    Ronaldo stat
Cristiano Ronaldo was MIA today for Man Utd in their defeat at Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils crashed to a 1-0 loss at Selhurst Park.
Incredibly, that’s 10 games he has missed this season – and even more astonishing is the fact United haven’t won any of those matches without him.
Not so much a “problem” then.
    De Gea to stay
David De Gea has revealed his plans to stay at Old Trafford for next season.
“I want to forget this season and be 100% ready for next season. It has been horrible,” he told BBC Sport.
“Ones who want to stay, stay at the club. Ones that don’t want to stay go out. You don’t have to stay”.
Ten Hag will have his own ideas.
    Premier League 2021-22
This is where we finished, and who did what in terms of European qualification.
    Title: Manchester City
    UCL: Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs
    UEL: Arsenal, Manchester United
    UECL: West Ham
    Relegation: Burnley, Watford, Norwich
    Europa League for United
So, it’s Europa League football for Man Utd next season.
The Red Devils lost away to Palace, but with West Ham slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Brighton it didn’t matter.
They finished sixth in the table, and will want a better season next campaign.
Ten Hag, who was in attendance, has a hell of a job on his hands.
    Brighton level
United are back up to sixth and a Europa League spot – thanks to a Brighton leveller.
It’s Veltman with the goal, that slipped through the grasp of Fabianski in the Hammers goal.
Ten Hag could get his hands on his first silverware there then.
And I’m sure United fans will get added satisfaction in seeing Man City fans currently suffering – as they trail at home to Villa.
    As things stand
    Champions -Man City
Champions League – Liverpool – Chelsea – Tottenham
Europa League – Arsenal- West Ham
    Relegated – Burnley
United look like they’re headed to the Conference League.
    Zaha haunts United
It’s the former United man who gives Palace the lead at Selhurst Park.
Wilfried Zaha, who couldn’t get a look in at Old Trafford but is so often Palace’s talisman, with the goal.
Patrick Vieira always loved coming up against Man Utd.
Will he win against them as a boss too?
    Spot ten Hag
Erik ten Hag is in attendance at Selhurst Park! The incoming Man Utd boss is watching his new players in action against Crystal Palace alongside assistant Mitchell van der Gaag.
He doesn’t seem to be too happy either with what he’s seen so far.
Lots of work to do, he surely ponders.

Cavani and Mejbri start for Manchester United
Ralf Rangnick has named Cavani in his last game as Manchester United manager against Crystal Palace. The Red Devils are without Cristiano Ronaldo this afternoon, who is unavailable with a hip injury.
In addition, the Austrian has called up teenager, Hannibal Mejbri. Harry Maguire also returns to the back four.

Man Utd starting XI for today
Here is the team showing what they have in front of new gaffer Erik ten Hag.
    19-year-old Hannibal Mejbri starts.

Will the kids play? – Line up revealed in two minutes
Man Utd are set to give the kids a chance against Crystal Palace as Charlie Savage among youngsters spotted travelling to London.
Savage, 19, could make his Premier League debut after being named in the travelling squad for their final game of the season, writes Jake Lambourne.
The Red Devils face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday in a game that will decide what European competition they will be playing next term.
Failure to beat the Eagles could see United drop down into seventh and into the Uefa Conference League.
United must claim the three points in South London or hope West Ham fail to beat Brighton at the Amex Stadium to secure a place in the Europa League.
And United could decide to give their youngsters a chance, with Charlie Savage, Shola Shoretire and Alvaro Fernandez all named in their squad.
The trio were snapped before making their way down to the capital, where they will be looking to impress incoming manager Erik ten Hag should they be given any game time.
United ‘need a reset’, says Mata
Mata went on to say United need a “reset” after a tough few seasons, demanding players “meet the standards” required to turn out for the club.
He said: “Being at Man Utd, this club needs first-class individuals for each department.
“This club should be top of the class in every department, on pitch or off. That is the only way I see this club competing for the biggest trophies.
“That’s what I hope for in the near future, otherwise you cannot compete with clubs who are doing very good things with a certain identity and professionalism in the way they make decisions.

“When you think about Man Utd you think about the best level possible, as far as I understood football growing up.
“I don’t understand this club without having first-class individuals for each department.”
Mata continued: “We have made many mistakes… we could have also dealt better with certain situations that were happening in the club, managers changing, negative things.
“Certain standards were not met. Whether that’s attitude, level of training, off the pitch, which doesn’t include players, we haven’t been good enough.
“We need a reset in the culture of the club. That’s how I feel.
    Mata could stay in Manchester
Juan Mata has hinted he could sensationally STAY at Manchester United, writes Dave Fraser.
The long-serving Spanish playmaker, 34, was widely expected to quit Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer with his contract expiring, despite rumours of retiring or going into coaching.
But Mata has confirmed he will hold off making any decisions until he has spoken to Ten Hag – who will officially start work on Monday, following United’s final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
Mata told The Athletic: “I will see when we speak how we feel, what his ideas are…
“After that a decision will be made.”
    Rangnick admits Ronaldo compromise
Ralf Rangnick also laments his asking of a 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo to be part of a high-pressing side.
He continued: “I am not blaming Cristiano at all, he did great in games, but he is not a pressing monster.
“Even when he was young, he wasn’t shouting, “The other team has the ball, where can we win balls?

‘It was the same with quite a few other players so we had to make compromises at one stage.
“We never found the right balance between what do we need with the ball and without the ball.”
    Rangnick shoulders the blame
Interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick blames himself for the club’s collapse this season, writes Chisanga Malata.
The German was brought in to steady the ship following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure last November but failed to get the squad to completely buy into his philosophy.
Rangnick’s failure to adapt his strategy to his squad’s strengths has left United in a final-day battle for the Europa League spot that comes with sixth place.
And he shoulders the blame for the club losing their last five away matches on the bounce, saying: “We never came near to that aggressive, pro-active football I’d normally want to do.
“It has to do with physicality if you want to play like that. I should have done better and developed this team in a more sustainable way.”
Savage and co in the United squad today

Luke Shaw could be missing on Sunday
The Red Devils face the Eagles away at Selhurst Park in their final Premier League game of the season TODAY.
Luke Shaw is a doubt to feature for Manchester United against Crystal Palace on Sunday following the birth of his second child.
    Congratulations Luke and Anouska!
Ronaldo to miss Prem finale through injury
Cristiano Ronaldo has withdrawn from Manchester United’s squad for today’s Prem finale at Crystal Palace with a hip injury.
The Red Devils need victory to seal sixth place.
But 24-goal top-scorer Ron, 37, is suddenly sidelined.
Spurs ‘pave way for Utd on Johnstone’
Manchester United could be in pole position for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone as Tottenham reportedly eye Fraser Forster instead.
Manchester United could be in pole position for West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone as Tottenham reportedly eye Fraser Forster instead.
Red Devils’ second-choice stopper Dean Henderson could be loaned out, with Bournemouth and Fulham keen.
And United have been linked with Johnstone long before Erik ten Hag was named as incoming manager.
Red Devils’ second-choice stopper Dean Henderson could be loaned out, with Bournemouth and Fulham keen.
Even Legends can’t salvage Utd pride
United’s Legends were humbled just as much as the mediocre current squad have been this season as Mark Gonzalez hit a stunner in a 3-1 Charity match win for Liverpool’s oldies.
The former Chile midfielder only spent one season at Anfield in 2006-07 – scoring two Premier League goals.

But he notched a superb 30-yard free-kick past United sub keeper Kevin Pilkington and a stoppage-time clincher.
A goalless first half was played in high spirits for good causes, including the Man Utd Foundation, with £1.3million raised as Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher captained the two teams and the likes of Patrice Evra, Jaap Stam and Andriy Voronin took part.
But Liverpool came flying out of the blocks in the second 45.
Replacement forward Luis Garcia’s cheeky stepover beat Raimond van der Gouw all ends up and Garcia rounded the keeper to roll in the opener.
Dimitar Berbatov won a penalty three minutes later to coolly slot in for 1-1.
But Dirk Kuyt hit the post for Liverpool before Gonzalez struck twice to give them victory.
    Cottagers want Matic talks
EXCLUSIVE: Fulham want to talk veteran Nemanja Matic into staying in the Prem after he leaves Manchester United, writes ALAN NIXON.
The Championship winners are keen to bring the ex-Chelsea midfielder back to London.
Matic, 33, has played a key role at United lately and is still very capable at the top level.
But he is choosing to move on rather than be part of Erik ten Hag’s revolution.
Foreign interest in Matic is great but he could get a deal that works for him at Fulham and can slot back into life in London, after two great spells with the Blues.
Matic revealed he would leave United last month in a lengthy statement on social media.

Premier League LIVE REACTION: Man City 3 Villa 2 – City WIN title, Liverpool 3 Wolves 1, Leeds staying up, Spurs win

MANCHESTER CITY have WON their SIXTH Premier League title after incredibly coming from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at the Etihad.Matty Cash STUNNED the blue side of Manchester with a strike against the run of play.
Which was then followed up by a sensational solo effort in the second half by former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
But two goals from super-sub Ilkay Gundogan, and a pile-driver from Rodri fired Man City to becoming champions of England for a second successive time.
And that proved to be pivotal with Liverpool eventually easing past a Wolves side who squandered several opportunities.

    That’s a Raph
Romantic Raphinha rushed to hug his fiancee Taia Rodrigues after he helped Leeds United complete a great escape.
The Brazilian was on target as his team became the first side since Wigan in 2011 to survive after starting the final day in the bottom three.
He spotted his partner Taia right in the middle of the jubilant travelling supporters, and he pushed his way past stewards to race and give her a cuddle and a kiss.

European line up for next season
The Premier League’s involvement in Europe next season has been confirmed after a dramatic final day.
Tottenham joined title winners Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea in the Champions League.
But, unfortunately for Manchester United and Arsenal fans, they will be tuning in on Thursday nights instead.
For West Ham, who reached the Europa semis this season, they must settle for the Conference League.
    Robin Olsen attack latest
Man City have apologised after Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen was attacked by fans after they invaded the pitch.
City supporters poured onto the Etihad turf after being crowned Premier League champions following a dramatic 3-2 win over Aston Villa.
City issued an apology in a statement which reads: “Manchester City would like to sincerely apologise to Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who was assaulted after the final whistle at today’s match when fans entered the pitch.
“The Club has launched an immediate investigation and once identified, the individual responsible will be issued with an indefinite stadium ban.”
    Stevie slip
Man City fans mocked Steven Gerrard after his Aston Villa side slipped up to deny Liverpool the title.
Pep Guardiola’s side netted three times in FIVE wild minutes at the Etihad to come back from 2-0 down and claim the Premier League crown.
That meant Gerrard’s beloved Liverpool saw their Quadruple bid killed off in heartbreaking style, after they fought back to beat Wolves.
City also famously beat Liverpool to the league title in 2014 thanks, in part, to Gerrard’s infamous tumble in a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Reminding the former Red of that incident, City fans gleefully sang: “Steve Gerrard, Gerrard, he slipped on his f**king arse.”
    Golden Boot Race
Spurs ace Heung-min Son AND Liverpool’s Mo Salah end the season as the Premier League’s top scorers.
The Golden Boot trophy will be shared between the two of them, both on 23 goals.

    Heung-min Son (Tottenham) – 23 goals, Mo Salah (Liverpool) – 23 goals
Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd) – 18 goals
Harry Kane (Tottenham) – 16 goals
Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) – 15 goals
Diogo Jota (Liverpool) – 15 goals

    Fernandinho farewell
Emotional scenes at the Etihad as captain Fernandinho is lifted high in the air by his Man City team-mates.
The Brazilian star, who joined City in 2013, is expected to move back to his homeland with his family.

    Jack’s tears of joy
Manchester City’s £100m man Jack Grealish has admitted that his first season with the club was ‘harder than he thought’ but it has all been worth it for moments like today.
The former Aston Villa man had to watch on from the touchline as his new team came back from 2-0 down, but cried tears of joy when Ilkay Gundogan’s second goal completed the recovery that brought him a first trophy of his career.
It’s unbelievable. After the third goal went in, I ran on to the pitch to celebrate, and then I ran straight down the tunnel because I was crying my eyes out. When you’re a kid all you want to do is play in the Premier League. And once you play in the Premier League, the next thing you want to do is win the Premier League. I can’t put it into words.Jack GrealishSky Sports

Zinchenko gives Ukraine reason to cheer
An emotional Oleksandr Zinchenko has spoken of his pride at winning the Premier League title, and said that he hopes to share the moment with his countrymen once the war he come to an end.
The Man City left-back put a traumatic few months to one side to play a pivotal role in his side’s comeback, setting up Rodri for the equaliser after coming on as a half-time substitute.
It’s unforgettable for me, and for all Ukrainians which are starving, surviving in my country because of Russian aggression. I’m so proud to be Ukrainian. One day I’d love to take this Premier League title back home to Ukraine – they deserve it.Oleksandr ZinchenkoSky Sports

    Pep’s Guard of honour
Manchester City are Premier League champions for the fourth time in five seasons under Pep Guardiola.
Only Sir Alex Ferguson with 13 has won more Premier League titles than the Spaniard, who has now won the most top-flight titles of any non-British manager, going one clear of both Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola labelled this title victory as the best yet.
    “We are legends,” he said.
“When you win the Premier League four times in five seasons, it is because these guys are so special. We will be remembered.
“The first time with 100 points we won by a big margin, the second time at Brighton. The third last season without the people. Winning at home with the people? It’s the best.”

Salah and Son share the spoils
Mo Salah and Heung-Min Son have been handed a golden boot each at the end of their 90 minutes. Naturally, Son looked a little happier to receive his.
They have netted 23 a piece, with none of the South Korean’s coming from the penalty spot. Not bad for a couple of ‘wingers’.

    Here come the champions!
One by one, the Manchester City players are announced to the fans as they are invited up to collect the winners’ medals.
Special appreciation is reserved for Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has had a traumatic year; Jack Grealish, who has won the first major trophy of his career; Ilkay Gundogan, the two-goal hero; Phil Foden, one of their own; and Kevin De Bruyne, the best player in the league.
Last but by no means least is Fernandinho. On his last appearance for the club, the Brazilian steps up as captain and collects the trophy before joining his teammates on the podium.
One dramatic pause later, and Fernandinho lifts it to the sky. Fireworks and streamers explode, and a huge roar of victory – and relief – rings out around the Etihad.

    The Premier League trophy awaits
The pitch has been cleared at the Etihad Stadium, the podium has been constructed, and the Premier League trophy has been brought out and will be presented by two young Manchester City fans – 16-year-old Ben Mason, who lost his sister to suicide, and 22-year-old Olivia Wardle, who has worked for City in the Community while battling cancer.
Pep Guardiola, his coaching staff, and his players, are now waiting in the tunnel to be re-introduced to the home fans.
    Super Spurs
Any suggestion that Tottenham might bottle it on the final day has been firmly laid to rest this afternoon. They were emphatic, putting bottom-placed Norwich to the sword.
In a topsy-turvy season for Antonio Conte, the Italian has been rewarded with Champions League football.

    Hero Gundogan salutes Liverpool challenge
Ilkay Gundogan wrote his name into Manchester City folklore by coming off the bench to score two late goals as his side turned around a 2-0 deficit to beat Aston Villa 3-2 and win the Premier League title.
Afterwards, the German paid tribute to Liverpool and his former boss Jurgen Klopp for their fighting spirit.
“Liverpool played an incredible season. If they were there, I don’t think this league would have been that attractive,” said Gundogan.
“We pushed each other again to out limited. You need to appreciate what they have done.”

    Leeds Marschterclass
Many had written Jesse Marsch off when he took over a struggling Leeds back in February, thinking they were destined for relegation. But the American has proved his critics wrong this afternoon, guiding his side to safety, in the most dramatic finish.
Leeds will be here next season, and undoubtedly, so will their manager.

    Match stats from the Etihad
Pep Guardiola has sometimes come under scrutiny for not making any substitutions in games, but his changes had a great effect today.
Two goals from one sub, Ilkay Gundogan, plus assists from two others in Raheem Sterling and Oleksandr Zinchenko, ensured City came back to win the title in five crazy second half minutes.

    Silverware on show at Anfield
    Or should that be goldware?
There may not be a Premier League trophy to lift, but the Liverpool players are currently earning plaudits for a tremendous season.
Alisson has received the Golden Glove for keeping the most clean sheets while Mo Salah has won both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award for the most assists this season.

Premier League final table – the bottom half
Leeds have done it. They’ve beaten the drop thanks to a stunning 2-1 win at Brentford.
Burnley are DOWN, and all that despite sacking Sean Dyche.
Newcastle just miss out on the top ten despite beating Burnley.

Premier League final table – the top half
Here is how things finished, with Manchester City crowned champions for a sixth time in the last 11 seasons.
Liverpool are just a point off AGAIN, as they were in 2018/19.
Chelsea and Tottenham make up the top four, Arsenal and Manchester United are into the Europa League.
United finished 35 points off the top and 13 points off the top four – what a horrendous season at Old Trafford.

Full time – Crystal Palace 1-0 Manchester United
United’s gloomy season comes to an end in a fitting manner.
Zaha came back to haunt his old club, but West Ham’s defeat to Brighton means Rangnick’s side finish in sixth.

Unbelievable scenes. Jesse Marsch and his army are celebrating in front of their traveling fans. What a day for them!

Full time – Liverpool 3-1 Wolves
Liverpool win at Anfield, but it’s not enough.
Jurgen Klopp’s team have pushed Manchester City all the way, but they will have to settle for second place and – hopefully – three trophies.
Full time – Burnley 1-2 Newcastle
It’s all over at Turf Moor and Burnley are relegated.
The players slump to the floor. They gave it their all, but it wasn’t enough in the end.

Full time – Man City 3-2 Aston Villa
IT’S ALL OVER! MANCHESTER CITY ARE PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!
The home fans swarm on to the pitch to celebrate with the players, they are absolutely delirious.
They said it could never happen again after 2012, but this is pretty damn close.

Norwich 0 Tottenham 5: Son, Kulusevski and Kane strikes seal Champions League football in emphatic style

TOTTENHAM fans could be forgiven for feeling as sick as Harry Kane did on Friday ahead of this Champions League decider. In the end, they were left only with butterflies of excitement as Antonio Conte pulled off his top-four “miracle” with nothing remotely Spursy in sight.

Dejan Kulusevski was on fire as Tottenham sealed fourth place by beating NorwichCredit: Rex
January signings Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur combined as the Swede netted the crucial opener.
Kane, who had Spurs fans fearing the worst when pulling out of a media event three days ago with tummy trouble, got the second before Kulusevski struck a belter.
The procession had begun in earnest by then but it got better for the delirious away fans as South Korean hero Son Heung-Min netted twice to win the Premier League golden boot.
His second on the day – and his 23rd league goal of the season – was sheer magic as he blasted into the top corner before being mobbed by his team-mates.

Norwich were woeful but considering what was on the line for Tottenham, how coolly they came through it as a testament of how Conte has transformed this side.
Languishing in ninth when he succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo in November, Conte was not asked by chairman Daniel Levy to make the top four, simply to improve the team.
But Conte said in his pre-match press conference that had Levy made that specific request, the answer would have been: “Are you joking?”
Tottenham were only six points off the Champions League spots back then but looked miles off a tilt towards Europe’s elite competition.

Talismanic striker Kane, still in a funk after a dream move to Manchester City had failed to come off, had only ONE league goal at that point.
It is why Conte consistently referred to the chances of his side reaching the top four as a “miracle”.
Even as recently as February, the ex-Chelsea boss hinted to the media he could quit following a shocking 1-0 defeat at Burnley – a message he repeated in the dressing room too.
Conte later revealed it was a motivational strategy and it paid off handsomely as Spurs won all but four of their final 14 league games.
His 3-4-3 formation has brought the best out of Spurs in defence and attack, with Son and Kane blasting in the goals to take them to the Promised Land.
Kane’s fitness – and the health of all the Spurs squad – was thrown into doubt by ex-Tottenham striker Gary Lineker on Friday.
The Match of the Day presenter tweeted that he had heard of a food-poisoning outbreak in the Tottenham camp, bringing memories back of ‘Lasagne-gate’ in 2006 when an sickness-hit Spurs missed out on the Champions League on the final day.
But it proved to be a false alarm as all the squad from last weekend’s win at Burnley, including Kane, lined up at Carrow Road.
Spurs soon took control of the game and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg could have eased the tension when Kulusevski picked him out eight minutes in, but the Dane fired over.
He made up for it soon afterwards though, firing a pinpoint long ball over the top for Bentancur to chase.
The South Korean star took his tally to 23 goals for the seasonCredit: Reuters
The Uruguayan squared it for his fellow January signing Kulusevski to tap home from a few yards out.
Eric Dier provided the one nerve-jangling moment, if you could call it that, soon after when he passed the ball to Milot Rashica, but the Kosovan fired wide.
Then just after the half hour it was 2-0 thanks to a rush of blood from Tim Krul.
The Canaries keeper’s awful pass was picked up by Bentancur who clipped in a cross that Kane headed into an unguarded net.
It was his 17th league goal of the campaign – not bad for one deemed by many to have been a poor one by his sky-high standards.
The strike was also his ninth on the final day of the season, equalling a joint-record set by Andy Cole and ex-Spurs striker Les Ferdinand.
If the game was not up already, it certainly was come 64 minutes when Kulusevski blasted a brilliant third.
Kane set away the Swede, who easily shrugged off Dimitris Giannoulis’ weak challenge and bent the ball into the top corner.
From then on it was all about Son’s bid to win the league’s most deadly striker.
It looked like it was not going to go his way when Kulusevski squared it to him when he should have taken a shot himself, and Max Aarons nipped in to clear.

But Son was not to be denied as he grabbed his first by completing a lovely move involving Kane and sub Lucas Moura, firing clinically after the Brazilian’s deft touch.
The South Korean made it 23 for the campaign with a strike of breathtaking quality, curling in from 25 yards before being mobbed by his team-mates.
Conte claimed he had never heard of the term ‘Spursy’ this week and by the signs of it, his team are beginning to forget its meaning too, given how comfortable this was.
Now the focus turns towards what the ex-Inter Milan boss can build in North London – provided he stays.
Conte has been careful not to commit beyond the end of this season, pointing out that he needs to be backed in the transfer market.
For Tottenham fans’ sakes, you hope he will be as they have a serial winner in the dugout – one who can end the Spursy curse once and for all.

Man City WIN Premier League title after astonishing 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa as Gundogan scores dramatic winner

WHEN Manchester City marked the tenth anniversary of Sergio Aguero’s miraculous title-winning goal this week, they could hardly have imagined an equally dramatic comeback. But this time City, 2-0 down to Steven Gerrard’s Villa with 15 minutes to play, conjured three goals in a six-minute spell to secure a fourth Premier League crown in five seasons.

Sub Ilkay Gundogan played the Aguero role, with a double, either side of a brilliant Rodri strike as City scrubbed out goals from Matty Cash and Philippe Coutinho, to end Liverpool’s hopes of an unprecedented quadruple.
City had been unrecognisable for 75 minutes – horribly sloppy in their passes and panicky in their demeanour.
But somehow they summoned the willpower to blow Villa away in those manic five minutes.
Liverpool had only been drawing at home to Wolves while that drama was unfolding – but Jurgen Klopp’s men eventually chalked up their expected win.

reaction as Man City WIN title, Burnley go down and Spurs land CL spot
A decade ago, City had been 2-1 down against QPR going into injury-time before Edin Dzeko and Aguero sealed their first Premier League crown.
And their sixth was won on an afternoon to rival that day of mayhem.
Gerrard, the legendary former Liverpool captain, must have thought he had played his part in winning the title for his beloved club when Villa took their deserved 2-0 lead.
But City never know when they are beaten – at least in domestic competition – and Gundogan kept a clear head to see them over the line.

the reaction as Man City WIN title, Burnley go down and Spurs land CL spot
This might just be the greatest achievement of Guardiola’s astonishing career – to win back-to-back titles without playing a recognised striker for significant parts of either campaign.
When Erling Haaland arrives next term, they will be favourites to retain their crown even if Liverpool complete a treble of knockout trophies in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris next weekend.
At the start, Guardiola employed John Stones at right-back and Fernandinho at centre-half and it was a scruffy, edgy, error-ridden start from the defending champions.
Not even the boost of an early goal for Wolves at Anfield could settle them – with more mishit passes from Guardiola’s men in the opening 20 minutes than you’d normally see in half a season.
Gerrard’s men were set up for blanket defending and Liverpool were level by the time City had a genuinely clear sight at goal, when Kevin De Bruyne led a galloping break and Phil Foden steered a shot wide of the far post.
The Etihad, raucous at kick-off time, was becalmed by now.

Foden won possession and fed Gabriel Jesus, who horribly duffed his shot wide.
Villa were warned for time-wasting by ref Michael Oliver when keeper Robin Olsen, standing in for Emiliano Martinez, dawdled over a goal-kick.
But two minutes later, Gerrard’s men were in front. Jacob Ramsey released Lucas Digne down the left and the full-back – who’d earlier been knocked sparko by a shot from team-mate Calum Chambers – cut back a cross.
It ought to have been Joao Cancelo’s ball but the City left-back was having an absolute shocker and he allowed Cash to get in front of him and thump a header into the corner of the net.
Fernandinho missed a routine header, allowing Ollie Watkins in behind him but the Villa striker couldn’t capitalise.
And the Brazilian club captain’s illustrious City career was ended with a half-time substitution, as Guardiola reshuffled, bringing on Oleksandr Zinchenko on at left-back, switching Cancelo to right-back and Stones to centre-half – in what would have looked a more obvious starting line-up.
Zinchenko made a lively start and after De Bruyne had skied one, Cancelo crossed from the right and Jesus somehow spooned over from three yards out.
Raheem Sterling arrived in place of Riyad Mahrez just ten minutes into the second half but as the level of jitters went off the scale, even De Bruyne was sending ten-yard passes into touch.

De Bruyne had just sent a free-kick well wide when Villa added their second.
Olsen launched one upfield, Watkins beat Rodri to a header and Coutinho cut between two defenders and steered it past Ederson.
The Villa fans had been taunting the home support with inflatable European Cups to mark the 40th anniversary of their success and City’s serial failures in the competition – and now their crowing was deafening.
De Bruyne lead a charge, exchanged passes with Sterling but leant bank and fired well over.
On 76 minutes, City finally found the net, Sterling centring to the far post where fellow sub Ilkay Gundigan scored with a downward header.
Then little more than two minutes later, Zinchenko – another City sub who’d had a serious impact – darted down the left and cut back for Rodri who side-footed with power from the edge of the area into the corner of the net to equalise.

The place went ballistic but, of course, a draw would not be enough if Liverpool found a winner.
So City went and scored another – De Bruyne pouncing on a loose defensive pass, advancing then curling a centre for Gundogan to poke home at the far post.

Premier League finale LIVE SCORES: Man City 0 Aston Villa 1, Liverpool equalise vs Wolves, Tottenham and Arsenal latest

MANCHESTER CITY are BEHIND against Aston Villa with Liverpool level against Wolves.Matty Cash’s strike has STUNNED the Etihad with a strike against the run of play.
Sadio Mane has equalised for the Reds against a Wolves side who have created plenty of chances.
If City clinch victory and the title is theirs, but if Liverpool win and City draw, the trophy goes back to Anfield.
Tottenham are pretty much guaranteed Champions League football if they draw at Norwich, but a win makes that a foregone conclusion, Arsenal would need to win against Everton and hope Spurs lose.
Burnley will be relegated unless they can turn things around at home to Newcastle, while Leeds are tied with Brentford.

    GOAL! – Leicester 1-0 Southampton
49, The ball rebounds to Maddison who strokes it home to put the Foxes in front.
Liverpool 1-1 Wolves – Liverpool substitution
    46. We’re now back underway at Anfield too, and Liverpool have also made a change.
The Reds’ switch is enforced, however. Thiago hasn’t recovered from his first half knock, and on in his place is James Milner.
Meanwhile, there’s a substitution for Wolves too, where John Ruddy has taken over between the sticks after Jose Sa picked up an injury.
    Man City 0-1 Aston Villa
    46. There’s been a half-time change at the Etihad, where Oleksandr Zinchenko has replaced Fernandinho.
That will see Joao Cancelo move to right-back, and John Stones will go into the middle.
A delay at the end of the first half at Anfield means that the game here has restarted earlier. Will that prove pivotal in about three quarters of an hour?
    Advantage West Ham
In the fight for sixth, West Ham are in the driving seat. Antonio’s goal puts the Hammers one point ahead of Ralf Rangnick’s side, who are currently 1-0 down to Crystal Palace.

    Match facts from Anfield
Then again, Liverpool aren’t faring much better…

    First half at the Etihad
Over 70% of the ball, but Manchester City’s nervous players have only tested stand-in goalkeeper Robin Olsen on one occasion.

    Half-time – Arsenal 2-1 Everton
Arsenal have been in control, but a late twist in the tale may shake things up in the second half.
They will go into the break frustrated to see their North London rivals running away with it. That’s if Arteta lets them know.
    Half-time – Norwich 0-2 Tottenham
It’s been all too easy for the away side who are cruising past the Canaries and heading for the Champions League.
    Half-time – Brentford 0-0 Leeds
Leeds have the edge over Burnley for now. They are one point off the relegation zone.
Fans were momentarily in dreamland when Gelhartd netted inisde 20 minutes. But VAR ruled him offside in the closest of calls.
    Half-time – Burnley 0-1 Newcastle
As it stands, Burnley are going down. Mike Jackson’s men desperately need an equaliser to stay in the race for survival.
    Half-time – Liverpool 1-1 Wolves
There’s work to do at Anfield too for title challengers Liverpool, who have recovered from a goal down, but still trail City in the table on goal difference.
    Half-time – Man City 0-1 Aston Villa
It’s squeaky bum time as league leaders Manchester City go in one down at the break.
    GOAL! – Arsenal 2-1 Everton
45+3, Just before the break, substitute Van De Beek gets his side back in it!
Calvert-Lewin spotted his team-mate unmarked in the area, and the Dutchman did the rest.
    Liverpool 1-1 Wolves
45+2. There’s renewed belief at Anfield, but they do still trail their title rivals on goal difference as it stands.
Meanwhile, Thiago is moving very gingerly and looks to be struggling. In fact, he’s doing down the tunnel for treatment although Liverpool are not moving to make a change yet.
The Reds will play these final few seconds of the first half with ten men while the midfielder is assessed.
    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle
45, Brownhill robs Guimares in midfield and feeds McNeil who has a pop from 25 yards, but it’s simple for Dubravka in goal.
Saint-Maximin then gets in a great position in the six-yard box and fires on target. But Pope gets down brilliantly to deny him.
Man City 0-1 Aston Villa – Watkins chance!
    42. Ollie Watkins almost makes it two!
The Villa striker outmuscles Fernandinho to reach a long ball forward and leaves his marker in heap.
It presents Watkins with a free run to goal, but a heavy touch allows John Stones and Ederson to get across and block.
Norwich 0-2 Tottenham – Norwich change
It’s the end of the injured Sam Byram’s night, who was already walking a tightrope on a yellow. Christoph Zimmermann is on in his place.
    Liverpool 1-1 Wolves
    40. It’s Steven Gerrard’s name that is being sung around Anfield right now.
Can the Aston Villa manager finally mastermind a Liverpool title win?
Liverpool 1-1 Wolves – Hwang chance!
    38. A huge chance for Wolves to regain the lead.
Substitute Hwang beats the Liverpool offside trap and bears down on goal.
Rather than going across Alisson, the striker tries to beat him at his near post, and sees his shot tipped behind for a corner.
    GOAL! Brighton 0-1 West Ham
    41, Antonio scores!
The forward smashes the ball into the top corner from the edge of the area. Brilliant finish!
More importantly, West Ham are up to sixth!

GOAL! Crystal Palace 1-0 Manchester United
    36, Zaha scores!
A wonderful solo run from Zaha ends in a powerful strike from inside the box. Nothing De Gea could do about that one.
Not the start Rangnick was after.
    .Credit: Getty
Goal! Man City 0-1 Aston Villa
    37. Matty Cash sends shockwaves across Manchester!
Aston Villa take the lead in style, and the Etihad Stadium is stunned!
Jacob Ramsey releases Lucas Digne on the left, and the defender delivers a wonderful cross into the middle.
Arriving from the back, Cash catches Joao Cancelo unaware to steal in and head beyond Ederson.
It’s a goal celebrated wildly by those Villa fans behind the goal – and by those Liverpool fans back at Anfield.

    Man City 0-0 Aston Villa
    33. City players and fans alike are beginning to grow frustrated at what they believe are timewasting tactics from Villa goalkeeper Olsen and captain Mings.
Then again, if the City players would stop falling over they might have more of a chance.
    GOAL! Arsenal 2-0 Everton
32, Nketiah gets on the scoresheet!
The Arsenal striker jumps highest to head home from the corner.
    .Credit: EPA
    Man City 0-0 Aston Villa
    31. City’s opening half hour is summed up by their latest attack.
Jesus takes up possession, and has a chance to run at the Villa defence.
He does well to cut inside Mings, but is then put off by the run across him of De Bruyne, and ends up scuffing a shot wide.

Leicester 4 Southampton 1: Jamie Vardy runs length of pitch to celebrate in front of Saints fans after Rebekah taunts

JAMIE VARDY sprinted the length of the pitch to celebrate his goal in front of Southampton fans who’d taunted his wife Rebekah – while his Leicester side ran away with victory. And James Maddison reminded England boss Gareth Southgate he is the form midfielder in the country right now as the Foxes clinched a fifth successive top-ten finish.

Playmaker Maddison hit the 49th minute opener and supplied one of sub Ayoze Perez’s two goals.
Leicester’s player of the season notched 18 strikes and 12 assists in all competitions – his best ever stats for a campaign.
And team-mate Vardy was in equally lively form – in other ways – as he saluted his goal at the away end following chants against his wife over her Wagatha Christie court case with Coleen Rooney.
However, Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl had an angry exchange with referee Jon Moss at the end after his team ended 15th with 40 points – in the same position as last year but three points worse off.

Retiring Moss bowed out in a blaze of controversy as Southampton accused him of costing them the game with a contentious drop ball call!
Shortly after half-time Oriol Romeu halted Vardy’s progress with a sly forearm smash to the striker’s chops which flattened the Foxes forward.
Moss rightly halted play because a head knock was involved but he then handed possession to the Foxes for an uncontested drop ball.
The ball was knocked back to Kasper Schmeichel who launched it deep into Southampton’s half to return possession to them.

But Saints stopper Lyanco then blundered with a mistimed header, then compounded his error with a second attempt which failed to make it back to his keeper Alex McCarthy.
Vardy took that as the cue to resume play and nipped in fire in a shot which crashed off McCarthy’s chest.
And Maddison followed up to knock home the rebound.
Saints players surrounded Moss to argue they should have been given possession at the drop ball – however the goal stood.
That lit the touchpaper on an explosive finale.
With 16 minutes remaining Vardy silenced the Saints fans when he doubled Leicester’s lead.
Harvey Barnes’ pass looked to be heading for Maddison but Vardy intercepted it and burst through to calmly slot the ball beyond McCarthy, before turning his back on the Saints fans to point to the name on his back.

That stung the visitors, who swiftly pulled one back from the penalty spot.
Youri Tielemans stuck out a lazy leg to trip Stuart Armstrong in the box and James Ward-Prowse expertly blasted his spot kick past Schmeichel.
However, Maddison was in no mood to let Saints back in and the midfielder capped another brilliant display to put the match beyond them.
His vision allowed him to spot sub Ayoze Perez lurking at the back post and his precision pass allowed him to deliver a perfect threaded pass.
The Frenchman did the rest with an expert scissors-kick finish, then added a second to make it 4-1 in stoppage time when he slammed home a Ricardo Pereira cutback from close range to finish Saints off.

And Leicester were denied of a first European final since 1962 following a 2-1 defeat to Jose Mourinho’s men in the Europa Conference League semi’s.
But they’ll be hoping to cap off the campaign with a convincing win over Southampton who recently lost to a second string Liverpool team.

What TV channel is Leicester vs Southampton and can I live stream it?

Sky Sports have decided that Leicester vs Southampton will not be one of the games broadcasted live.
However, coverage for EVERY match on the final day of the Premier League season will commence on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League from 3pm UK time – one hour before kick-off.
Subscription members have the option to stream the game live via the Sky Sports website or Sky Go app.

    Team news
Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to welcome back both Youri Tielemans and James Justin who were left out of the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
However, Ricardo Pereira and Hamza Choudhury made surprise returns to the bench and could be in contention to start against the Saints.
As things stand, the definite absentees for Leicester’s final game of the season will be Wilfried Ndidi and Ryan Bertrand.
Elsewhere, Ralph Hasenhuttl should almost have a full-strength side to select from barring no late scares.
Valentino Livramento remains as the only long-term absentee following anterior crucial ligament damage in his left knee.

Liverpool 3 Wolves 1: Salah and Robertson late show not enough as Reds finish one point behind City

FOR the majority of this white-knuckle ride at Anfield, the Quadruple was very much on. There was a real sight of glory. With City appearing to fall to pieces, Jurgen Klopp needed just one player to break Wolves’ brave second-half resistance and score the winner.

And that would have handed Liverpool the title.
But by the time Mo Salah made it 2-1 and Andy Robertson got a third, City had already delivered their stunning transformation.
But for Liverpool, they could not have done any more. It would have been heart-break had City slipped up to Villa and Liverpool had failed to see off Wolves.
Liverpool’s players were backed by a noisy Anfield but now, they must try and lift themselves for Saturday’s Champions League final with Real Madrid.

And a major blow is that Thiago Alcantara is a major doubt after missing the second half with an injury.
Wolves, without a win in six matches, did extremely well to push Liverpool and they had enough chances to win the match.
Not a single person inside the stadium would have expected that from Jose Sa’s goal-kick – even though the keeper slipped – Wolves would take the lead after 130 seconds. Sa ended up on his backside but that gigantic kick was completely misjudged by Ibrahima Konate.
Raul Jimenez sprinted free and he spotted Pedro Neto who, having got clear of Trent Alexander-Arnold, was free to deliver the finish from six yards.

Liverpool, led by Luis Diaz, snapped back immediately but, incredibly, Wolves should have been 2-0 up.
Neto teed up a terrific chance for Leander Dendoncker who found himself in a similar position to the first goal but he panicked and shot wide.
The sight of Neto going off with a knee injury was some good news for Liverpool.
But that was nothing to the relief around Anfield when Sadio Mane levelled. Thiago, with his back to goal, released Mane with an out-of-this-world flick and despite not managing the best of shots, Mane found a way past Sa.
As Liverpool pressed, the noise from the stands was pretty clear that Aston Villa had just scored.
Yet Klopp’s team kept leaving themselves too open at the back and sub Hwang Hee-chan could have made it 2-0 as he was clean through but forced a decent save from Alisson, who will share the Golden Glove this season with fellow Brazilian Ederson as the pair managed 20 clean sheets each.

Thiago went down the tunnel before half-time with James Milner appearing in his place at the start of the second half. Due to a problem with a right hamstring, Thiago is now a major doubt for the Champions League final.
And with Wolves keeper Sa struggling with a knee problem in the first half, no 2 John Ruddy – a former Everton keeper – also appeared for the second half.
Liverpool thought they had taken the lead – and also moved to the top – when Mane lifted the ball over Ruddy with a brilliant finish but the Senegal international was offside.
With just over 30 minutes left Salah replaced Diogo Jota as Klopp needed a piece of magic.
Ruddy was at full stretch to keep out a long-range shot from Alexander-Arnold and Willy Boly delivered an unbelievable tackle to deny Salah.
There was another almighty roar when news filtered through when former Reds star Phillipe Coutinho made it 2-0 for Villa.
Alisson tapped over a shot from Hwang and Wolves wasted another chance on the break when Jimenez should have created a tap-in for Hwang but the pass was terrible.
Sub Bobby Firmino kept giving the ball away and Anfield went quiet as City scored those two goals.
As City’s third went in, Wolves fans responded with ‘you nearly won the League.”

furious & bares teeth after watching hapless Man Utd flop at Palace
Almost immediately, Salah scrambled the ball over the line after Joel Matip’s header was blocked on the line by Jimenez.
Andy Robertson made it 3-1 after Firmino pulled the ball back but it was to count for nothing and at the end, Klopp looked pretty miserable.
