Romelu Lukaku to leave on loan
Romelu Lukaku could return to Inter Milan on loan this summer, according to reports.
The Chelsea striker has endured an underwhelming spell since returning to Stamford Bridge for £97.5million last summer.
Lukaku, 29, revealed in an explosive interview that he regrets the manner of his Inter exit… and that he hopes to return in future.
And according to reports in Italy, the Belgian may get his wish this summer.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Lukaku and Inter are both hoping to reach an agreement with Chelsea for the striker to return to San Siro.
They add that in a meeting between Inter bosses last week, Lukaku’s name came up as a potential target.
Barcelona may have the edge in signing Kounde, say reports
Chelsea may face competition from Barcelona in the race to sign Jules Kounde, according to reports in Spain.
Mundo Deportivo say Barca boss Xavi views the 23-year-old Sevilla star as a potential solution to his team’s defensive shortages.
Mundo’s report explains the Catalans’ good relationship with Sevilla may give them the edge in securing Kounde’s services.
It says Kounde would be the ‘icing on the cake for Xavi’ and he is the ‘signing in defense that the coach is most excited about’.
It adds the nine-cap France star would allow Xavi to create a ‘powerful axis’ with Araujo in Barca’s defence for important games.

Chelsea are set for a busy summer after Todd Boehly completed his £4.25bn takeover from Roman Abramovich.
SunSport’s Etienne Fermie walks through five names that Chelsea could land in this transfer window…
    1 – DECLAN RICE
Chelsea retain a long-term interest in Declan Rice, the man they released as a teenager.
The West Ham ace has impressed immensely at London Stadium, but recently turned down an eight-year contract extension.
Tuchel rates Rice highly and would love to recruit the England midfielder – although the Hammers will demand upwards of £100m.

SunSport recently revealed that Kounde is desperate to join Chelsea this summer – and can fill the void left by Rudiger and Christensen’s departures.

    Merson on Chelsea American ties
Chelsea could end up in decline like Arsenal under new American owner Todd Boehly.
That’s according to Paul Merson who reckons American owners treat Prem clubs like toys.
Merson said to the Daily Star: “Chelsea risk ending up like Arsenal unless their new American owners buck a worrying trend.
“It’s a relief for everyone at Stamford Bridge that Todd Boehly’s takeover has gone through and they can finally sign players again.
“But Chelsea is just a toy for them to play with. Look at all the other American owners in the Premier League – their US sports teams all do better than the teams they own over here. Look at Stan Kroenke at Arsenal.”
    Garden of Eden
Eden Hazard banked Chelsea an extra £15million after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid, writes Jack Figg.
Chelsea sold the winger in 2019 for £88.5million but the deal included performance bonuses that could take the fee to £130m.
The Blues have already benefited in the past, earning nearly £20m in 2020 when Real won the LaLiga title and qualified for the Champions League.

But an additional £15m would be added if the Spaniard’s became European champions with Hazard at the club.
And it took only two years for Real to achieve the feat, beating Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League final.
Hazard, 31, was an unused sub and instead watched as Vinicius Junior, 21, scored the winner just after the hour mark.
    Bremer blow
Chelsea have been dealt a blow in signing Brazilian Gleison Bremer.
The centre back has been extensively watched by Blues scouts at Torino’s games.
But now, Calcio Mercato have reported that Inter Milan have made the aggressive defender a priority this summer.
The Premier League giants are losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen from their backline, and are in desperate need of reinforcements at the back.
They have also been linked with a move for RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol.
    Colwill speaks about future
Talented youngster Levi Colwill has sent a message to the Blues over his future at the club.
“For me, playing for Chelsea will always be the main aim right now because it’s my club,” he explained.
“But if that doesn’t happen, well then I have to find other ways to progress and become the player I want to be.”
The 19-year-old centre back has enjoyed a brilliant campaign with Huddersfield Town – playing 30 times in the Championship.
    Alonso ‘agrees’ contract with Barcelona
Marcos Alonso is on the brink of signing for Barcelona, reports claim.
The Chelsea defender has agreed a three-year deal with the Catalan giants, according to Diario SPORT.
Alonso’s Chelsea contract expires next summer, but the Blues are hashing out a low price transfer with Barca, the report added.
Rice could join Chelsea, says Johnson
Glen Johnson spoke to Bettingodds about the potential of Declan Rice heading across London to join Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Johnson said: “On a personal level for him, we know how close he is to Mason Mount, so if Mason Mount commits to a new long-term deal then we know how much of a pull Chelsea will be to Declan.
“It’s another fantastic club and despite the fact they won’t win the league next season, that move may be a lot more appealing to him than Manchester United, if Manchester City or Liverpool don’t get the deal done.”
    Con air
Thomas Tuchel will reportedly hold talks with Conor Gallagher over his Chelsea future amid interest from Crystal Palace, writes Ant Chapman.
The midfielder, 22, enjoyed a stunning loan spell at Selhurst Park this season, scoring eight goals in 34 Premier League appearances.
Gallagher’s fine form resulted in an England debut last year.
And Palace are now eager to sign the ex-Charlton, Swansea and West Brom loanee permanently.
But reports claim Gallagher is “highly rated” by Chelsea boss Tuchel.
And the German wants “direct discussions” with the Cobham product before deciding on his next move.
    Lukaku pushes for exit
Romelu Lukaku is taking matters into his own hands to try and push through a deal to Inter Milan.
The Chelsea ace has started talking directly to the Blues to sort out his exit without the help of an agent, sempreinter reported.
Lukaku hopes he can smooth things over with the Blues to get his transfer to Inter completed, the report added.
    Morning Chelsea fans
Chelsea have been dealt a blow in signing Brazilian Gleison Bremer.
The centre-back has been extensively watched by Blues scouts at Torino’s games.
But now, Calcio Mercato have reported that Inter Milan have made the aggressive defender a priority this summer.
They are set for a £15million windfall though, after Real Madrid won the Champions League.
That’s because ex-Blues star Eden Hazard has a clause in his transfer to Real Madrid that included the lump sum if Los Blancos lifted the European trophy.
And Real’s win over Liverpool means the Blues can now reap the rewards of their tidy business decision.
Meanwhile, talented youngster Levi Colwill has sent a message to the Blues over his future at the club.

Chelsea’s worst XI of 21st century
Chelsea shot to European prominence following the arrival of Roman Abramovich shortly after the turn of the century.

The Blues have won five Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns in the last 17 years, a sensational return for the club.
However, they have still made seriously poor signings over the past two decades, with Chelsea fan Simon Phillips highlighting what he believes is the worst team made up of those flops.

He missed three games in Arsenal’s run-in, including their 3-0 North London derby mauling at Tottenham.

But it was a player up the other end of the pitch who impressed Gunners hero Henry throughout this season’s competition.
Henry said: “I just wanted to say something to France Football (who give the award) or whoever is voting.
“Close the vote, Benzema won it. Bye!”
    Ruiz rejects contract
Arsenal transfer target Fabian Ruiz has reportedly rejected a new Napoli contract.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the 26-year-old and are in the hunt for a central midfielder this summer.
And according to Il Mattino via GIFN, the Gunners have been handed a massive boost in the pursuit of Ruiz with the Spaniard said to have rejected a new contract offer from club Napoli.
Fellow Premier league outfit Newcastle are said to be keen on acquiring Ruiz’s services to.
But the report states that Ruiz has NO interest in joining the Magpies
    Januzaj and Monreal released
Man Utd and Arsenal cult heroes Adnan Januzaj and Nacho Monreal have been let go by Real Sociedad.
The pair both joined the Spanish club after leaving United and Arsenal in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
According to Fabrizio Romano, both players are being released by Sociedad after their contracts were not renewed.
Monreal, 36, suffered a severe knee injury before the start of the season and consequently missed the entirety of the season.
Meanwhile, Januzaj, 27, played 44 times for Sociedad this season contributing with five goals and three assists in all competitions.

    Noa more
Arsenal are set to miss out on Noa Lang, according to reports.
The Dutch international is reportedly set to sign for AC Milan, say Italian press.
The Club Brugge forward has been in blistering form for the Belgium club this season.
Manager Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his forward line – and Lang was being tracked from earlier in the season.
    Friends reunited
Two ex-Arsenal stars – who have a little bit in common – were reunited at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil were spotted hanging out at in Monte Carlo ahead of the big F1 race.
Of course, both fell out with Mikel Arteta and were sent packing by the Spaniard.
Auba recently revealed he was “sad” that the Gunners failed to qualify for the Champions League, after collapsing in the final few weeks.

    Jesus tipped for Arsenal succcess
Gabriel Jesus would be a good fit for Arsenal, according to Paul Merson.
And Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s relationship with Jesus who he worked with as a coach at Man City will help the striker fit in.
Merson told the Daily Star: “Jesus would be a good fit. He’s only 25 but he ticks the boxes because he scores goals, Arteta knows him, and he has experience of winning trophies with Manchester City.
    Len-ing towards the exit
Arsenal are trying to negotiate a cut-price deal for goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
SunSport exclusively revealed the Gunners are hoping to scrape together £60million this summer from a fire sale of Emirates outcasts.
And German goalkeeper Leno, 30, is one of seven-players in for the chop at a knockdown price.
Portuguese outfit Benfica are interested but are quibbling over Arsenal’s £8.5million valuation of the stopper.
Aaron Ramsdale’s £30m arrival last summer has restricted Leno to just four Premier League appearances this campaign.
Leno is now deemed surplus to requirements with American goalkeeper Matt Turner set to arrive in the summer as backup to Ramsdale.

    Arsenal owner’s billion-pound property empire
Arsenal and Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke is worth an incredible £8.7BILLION and has a property portfolio to match.
The American sports tycoon and his Walmart heiress wife purchased the United States’ largest ranch in 2016 and it’s so big you could fit the entire cities of New York and Los Angeles inside its borders.
At a whopping 535,000 acres, the W.T Waggoner Ranch in Texas was bought by Kroenke and his wife Ann Walton for a cool £500million.
The ranch includes thousands of cattle, hundreds of horses and oil wells, and 30,000 acres of farmland.
The 74-year-old billionaire’s company Kroenke Sports and Entertainment owns Arsenal and cut 55 jobs during the pandemic due to financial issues at Emirates Stadium.
He also owns Super bowl-bound NFL side LA Rams, NBA team Denver Nuggets, NHL franchise Colorado Avalanche and MLS side Colorado Rapids.
And he has invested billions of dollars into the construction of the 70,000 seat SoFI Stadium in Inglewood, California.

    Kroenke blasted by Merson
Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke’s priorities lie with his NFL team the LA Rams instead of the Gunners.
Which is the why the NFL outfit have won the SuperBowl whilst Arsenal ended the Prem season in fifth, according to Paul Merson.
Merson said to the Daily Star: “Why are the LA Rams winning the Super Bowl and Arsenal are coming fifth?
“Because that’s where their priorities are.”
    Fabregas makes Frenk assessment
Man United have been warned that transfer target Frenkie de Jong isn’t the complete package.
That’s the view of ex-Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas who claims De Jong’s passing isn’t up to scratch.
He said when assessing De Jong: “He just lacks the final pass.”
    Inter make Lukaku top priority
Inter Milan are reportedly waiting to see if they can re-sign Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku before making a move for Juventus star Paulo Dybala.
Dybala’s set to leave Juve on a free transfer this summer, and Inter are in pole position to sign him.
But the San Siro outfit are holding back from completing the transfer as they would prefer to bring Lukaku back to the club, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Arsenal are another team strongly linked with Dybala.
    Arsenal ace staying put
Arsenal ace Omar Rekik has pledged his future to the club and plans to repay the faith they’ve shown in him.
He told Bild: “I don’t have a specific goal. If Arsenal had waited a few months, they would have got me without a transfer fee.
“Now they have spent so much money on me. I want to repay that with performance. The club is serious about me, and I’m grateful for that.”
    Pick of the bunch
Everton keeper Jordan Pickford has named Arsenal counterpart Aaron Ramsdale as a driving force in his development.
Pickford told the Daily Mail: “There are always people trying to chase you and get that spot off you so it’s about keeping pushing boundaries.
“I think it’s better for me when Rammers is pushing because that’s pushing me to go even further to get even better.”
    Arsenal enter Raphinha race
Arsenal have entered the transfer race for Leeds ace Raphinha.
But the Gunners face stiff competition from Barcelona and Man United for the Brazilian, according to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari.
Barca view Raphinha as the ideal replacement for Man United target Ousmane Dembele, the report adds.
    Arteta key in Jesus decision
Mikel Arteta will be key in Gabriel Jesus’s decision in signing for Arsenal.
The Brazilian ace has been linked with a move to the Emirates, which would link him up with the former Man City assistant manager again.
And journalist Pete O’Rourke believes the Spaniard could be the deciding factor.
O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I think the opportunity to work under Mikel Arteta again would be a big factor in any decision from Jesus and there’s quite a few Brazilian players at Arsenal as well, which would maybe make it easier for him to settle in if he were to leave the Etihad for the Emirates.
“Arsenal are going the right way under Mikel Arteta, I think it’s fair to say, so I’m sure it’s something that he would definitely consider if Arsenal do follow up their interest.”
    Always a Gooner
Is Serge Gnabry giving a clue to his next move?
The Bayern Munich winger is said to be keen on a move away from the Bundesliga, with Arsenal rumoured to be in the mix for his signature.
And if an interview he gave back in March is any indication, he still follows the Gunners closely.
“If possible, I’m watching the games because I still carry the gun in my heart,” he said.
“Of course, I’m happy when Arsenal is playing well and win, especially now, while Arsenal is coming back stronger.”
    Rekik chased by Lille
Arsenal youngster Omar Rekik is a surprise target for French side Lille, according to reports.
The Tunisia defender is highly rated by the Gunners, after starring in the PL2 side.
And that has attracted the attention of the French giants, who are looking to bolster their defence.
However, the Gunners see Rekik as key to their future and reportedly don’t want to part with their talent, say RMC Sport.
    Okuma battle
Arsenal face a battle with Celtic and Borussia Dortmund for a centre half.
The Gunners and the Scottish champions are chasing KAA Gent’s Kenya international Joseph Okumu.
The Germans and the Premier League team have reportedly already enquired for the young talent.
Kenyan international Okumu is highly-rated in his homeland.
    Arsenal lead Hickey chase
Arsenal are leading the race for Bologna full-back Aaron Hickey, according to reports.
The Gunners are eager to bolster their defence this summer, having missed out on a top four spot.
Mikel Arteta and Co have identified the left-back position as a key area to improve, with Hickey fitting the bill.
Kieran Tierney has produced brilliant performances for the Gunners since arriving from Celtic – but has struggled to stay injury-free for prolonged periods.
Nuno Tavares was acquired last summer, but failed to convince in his debut season at the club.
According to Football London, Hickey is a “top target” for the Gunners this summer.
    Auba sad over Arsenal failure
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left “sad” when former club Arsenal fell short in their bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
The former Gunners skipper jetted to Monaco to watch this weekend’s F1 Grand Prix.
Aubameyang, 32, had his Arsenal contract ripped up earlier this year before he signed for Barcelona in January.
Mikel Arteta did not replace the forward and was made to pay for it in the second half of the campaign.
He told Sky Sports: “Yeah [it was] really close and I think they did a lot of improvement.
“And I’m a bit sad because I wanted to catch them on the Champions League.”
Auba added: “I have a lot of friends over there.
“But I’m wishing them all the best for next season obviously.”
    Central role for Jesus
Gabriel Jesus has been told he would play a more central role at Arsenal if he signs for the club, according to reports
The Gunners are chasing the Man City ace, who has been used out wide by the Premier League champions on many occasions throughout his career
And it is likely, should he stay, he would be pushed out again to the wing to accommodate new signing Elring Haaland.
But, GiveMeSport say through Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge that the Gunners hold the trump card because they could play him in a striker role, which he craves.
Spurs are also interested, but would find it hard to move Harry Kane from his favoured No9 position.
    Arsenal given Torreira ultimatum
Arsenal have just one month to agree a transfer deal with Fiorentina over Lucas Torreira.
Fiorentina are keen on making Torreira’s loan deal permanent.
But according to La Nazione, the Serie A side will turn to alternative options if they can’t come to an agreement with Arsenal.
    Just being Franck
Franck Kessie has confirmed his exit from AC Milan ahead of a switch to Barcelona.
He wrote on Instagram: “After 5 years I couldn’t hope to end this great experience in a better way! A unique emotion: we are Italian champions!
Proud to have worn this glorious shirt and to have shared this journey with some fantastic team-mates!
Thanks for everything! Thanks to everyone! Your ‘President’.”
Arsenal and Man United were also linked with the midfielder.
    Jesus slammed for transfer flirting
Man City striker Gabriel Jesus has been criticised by David James for flirting with a transfer away from the club.
Jesus, 25, is believed to be considering his options this summer with Arsenal and Tottenham keen on a move for him.
James told Genting Casino: “Jesus will have a shared role if he stays at Man City. They aren’t going to buy Haaland and start him every game, so there is still room for Jesus.
“Why would he want to leave? You’ve at the best team in England over the past five years, so would he risk it by moving somewhere else to Arsenal, who aren’t even in the Champions League?
“Or would he rather stay at Man City and try to get the Holy Grail, which is the Champions League?”
    In the Nket of time
Eddie Nketiah is set to sign a new long-term deal at Arsenal that will see him net £100,000 a week, according to reports.
The Gunners striker is out of contract this summer, but after an impressive end to the season which saw him score five goals in eight games, Nketiah and Arsenal changed their respective stances.
And now according to Fabrizio Romano, Nketiah is set to sign a new deal which will keep him at The Emirates until 2027.
    Ramsey set to be released
Ex-Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey is set to be a free agent this summer.
His loan deal with Rangers expires and the Scottish club have opted against keeping him.
And Juve also don’t want him to return, and are planning to offer him a pay-out to end his contract, according to Tuttosport.
    Taking the Mkhi
Inter Milan are on the brink of signing ex-Arsenal star Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Roma.
Mkhitaryan joined Roma from the Gunners in 2020.
But now he’s set to join Inter in a deal worth £2.9m over two years, according to Football Italia.
However, Roma are still hoping they can retain him next season, the report adds.
    Merson makes Chelsea transfer plea
Paul Merson has urged Chelsea not to sign Raheem Sterling from Man City.
Chelsea need to bolster their attacking options and have been linked with Sterling.
But Merson thinks the England star plays the “Man City way”, which will be hard to change.
He told the Daily Star: “They might go for Raheem Sterling but he plays the Manchester City way. I don’t think Raheem Sterling scores 20 goals a season for Chelsea.”
Merson’s old club Arsenal have also been linked with the winger.

    Rags to riches
Huddersfield Town’s Sorba Thomas has experienced an incredible turnaround over the past two years.
16 months ago, he was working 13-hour shifts on scaffolding sites while also turning out for non-league side Boreham Wood.
But in January 2021 he signed his first professional deal with Huddersfield.
He has likened the sensational transition to a blockbuster movie, and believes his rags to riches tale could earn a place on the big screen.
He joked: “I feel like I’m living in a movie right now and If they ever make a film of this story then I’d like Will Smith to play me!
“I worked for a year at a sports shop in Oxford Circus selling footy boots and then moved into the scaffolding trade with regular 6am starts in freezing conditions. I didn’t enjoy it at all and it doubled my determination to make it as a footballer but I wouldn’t change a thing because it’s all part of my journey.”

    Huddersfield’s road to Wembley
The Terriers kicked off their 2021/22 campaign with a 1-1 draw with now-relegated Derby County on the opening day of the season.
A week later they were subject to a 5-1 defeat to Fulham which sparked a resurgence as Corberan’s side went on to win their next three consecutive games.
By the end of 2021, the Terriers were in the play-off positions but faced fierce competition from the likes of Middlesbrough, West Brom and Nottingham Forest.
Then 2022 arrived – and so did a consistent run of form.
Huddersfield only lost two of the 20 Championship games they played in 2022. This superb feat saw them finish third in the table.
Things only got better as the play-offs came around.
The Terriers were put up against underdogs Luton Town. The Hatters put up an impressive fight, but ultimately Corberan’s team were too much to handle, and Huddersfield scraped through with a 2-1 win on aggregate.
    Nottingham Forest’s road to Wembley
It would be fair to say that Steve Cooper’s turnaround of Nottingham Forest this season has been nothing short of remarkable.
In September he took over a team that was rock bottom of the Championship table and put them in seventh place by the time Christmas came around.
Cooper instilled a new level of confidence into the squad and encouraged better possession-based play.
His efforts led the side to finish fourth in the Championship table, comfortably in the play-off places.
Forest narrowly edged past Sheffield United in the semi-finals to earn a deserved place in the final at Wembley.
Along the way, Cooper and his team stunned Arsenal, Leicester City and Huddersfield Town to progress to the FA Cup quarter-final where they were narrowly defeated by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
It has been a season to remember for the Reds, and earning that all-important place in the Premier League would be the icing on the cake.
    Steve Cooper on today’s game
When speaking to NottinghamshireLive ahead of the game, Cooper said:
“If there was one way of playing well and winning at Wembley, we’d all be doing it. But unfortunately nobody has found that way yet.
“What I do know is, we are the club and the team that we are. We are very proud of it and we believe in what we’re doing, so let’s take it to Wembley and try to do our thing.
“We are at this final, in this magnificent stadium, in this high-pressured game because we have done things a certain way.
“We have to continue as much as we can with that, while understanding the context of the game.
“But it’s really important for the players to realise we are in this position because of doing what we’ve done, and that’s committing to a way of playing and a way of working.
“Let’s try to be the best version of that possible, because that will give us the best chance of winning.
“The mood in training has been really good. We’ve stuck to the schedule we planned a while ago, and we’ve stuck to the work-load.
“You’re always tweaking some stuff from a day to day basis – that’s just normal operational stuff. But there’s been no real surprises for the players.
“Within that, there’s been a really positive attitude and atmosphere. But also very focused.”

    Carlos Corberan on today’s game
“The first game we played against them they were under another coach and they played 4-3-3, but they’ve since gone to a line of three.
“Last time we played in the league we both played a back four, and now the game on Sunday I think is going to be more similar to the game we played in the cup.
“But you can predict the first XI and it doesn’t mean anything.
“Both coaches can more or less predict the first XI of the teams and we’ve seen which players we use in important games, but the most important thing is how we adapt to the different contexts of the game, reduce their strengths and put our strengths forward.”
“It’s a big game and I’m looking forward to it, but I’m not proud of just getting there. I can give you that answer after the game.
“When you play a final you want to win the final and we want to beat Nottingham Forest and achieve something unbelievable.
“I’ve found a good balance between spending time being calm and spending time working towards the final.”

    De Jong contract offer
Man Utd are prepared to make Frenkie De Jong their highest paid player in order to tempt him away from Barcelona, according to reports.
New United boss Erik ten Hag is desperate to bring the Dutch midfielder to Old Trafford to bolster the squad.
De Jong, is well known to want to play Champions League football, but United are prepared to offer an eye-watering £395,000 a week in order to tempt him into a move, according to the Daily Star.
This would immediately elevate him above the likes of David de Gea (£375,000), Jadon Sancho (£350,000) Raphael Varane (£340,000), and above Cristiano Ronaldo (£300,000) in United’s books.
    Nunez and Timber targeted
New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly plotting a double transfer raid of Darwin Nunez and Jurrien Timber.
The new Old Trafford chief has already set his sights on fresh talent as he looks to rebuild the team.
Ten Hag is now wasting no time in recruiting talent, with the Mirror reporting that the club has identified two priorities.
Benfica striker Nunez caught the eyes of fans this season as he hit 26 goals in 28 league games for Benfica, and has been heavily linked with the Manchester side.
While ten Hag wants Ajax defender Timber to join him from his former club, with the 20-year-old valued at £35 million.
    Raphina price set by Leeds
Barcelona will have to cough up £40 million for Leeds’ Raphina after the Premier League side survived relegation, according to reports.
Jesse Marsch’s team pulled off a dramatic final day rescue job to lift themselves out of the bottom three at the expense of Burnley.
Prized asset Raphina scored a second-half penalty to help the Yorkshire club on their way.
The result means that Barcelona now may need to pay more to land the Brazilian winger, according to Sport.
Had Leeds been relegated, a release clause in Raphina’s contract could have seen him go for as little as £21m.
But now it is believed Barcelona will have to pay £40m to land their man.

    Prem sides in transfer battle
West Ham and Southampton are reportedly interested in RB Salzburg forward Junior Adamu.
The 20-year-old Austrian international is under contract with his current club until 2025.
But his nine goals in the 2021/22 season – including one against Bayern Munich in the Champions League – have caught the attention of several teams across Europe.
Ajax, Hertha Berlin and RB Leipzig are all thought to be monitoring him.
And The Mail is now reporting that West Ham and Southampton have joined the race.
Brighton are also thought to be keen on acquiring his services.
    Colwill makes future decision
Chelsea ace Levi Colwill has refused to rule out a stay with Huddersfield next season.
He said: “There’s too much respect for me to close the door. We need to get promotion first, which is the only thing I’m thinking of right now.
“I’m not planning for next year, all I can focus on right now is Wembley on Sunday and then the internationals after that. After when I’ve finished all of that, well that’s when I’ll start thinking about that.

Siegrist is out of contract and has also been watched by Celtic and Manchester United as cover but North End would give him the chance to be first choice.
The Swiss has impressed since joining the Tangerines from Vaduz in 2018.
He helped them to the Scottish Championship title in 2019-20, before easily taking to top flight football.
Siegrist, 30, played his part last term as Dundee United qualified for next season’s Europa Conference League by coming fourth in the Premiership.
    Ronnie Edwards transfer frenzy
Aston Villa and Southampton have joined the host of Premier League clubs eyeing a £10million summer swoop for Peterborough teenager Ronnie Edwards.
The centre back has been linked with Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Manchester United after being a shining light in a season that ended in Posh being relegated to League One.
Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has insisted that it would take a record offer for one of the club’s players to persuade him to let Edwards go this year.
And the ever-increasing interest in the 19-year-old makes it certain Fry will be able to generate more than the £6.2m received for Britt Assombalonga in 2014.
If Edwards performs well for England at next month’s European Under-19 Championship, his stock will rise further.
Peterborough may seek a deal that would see Edwards return to the club on loan for next season, but any buyer could prefer him to play at a higher level than League One.

    Gerrard makes Liverpool transfer fee
Steven Gerrard has urged Liverpool to sign a midfielder after their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.
And it has to be a midfielder that scores goals Gerrard believes.
He said: “Liverpool, if you think about the next five, six, seven years, they’re going to need a midfielder, an eight, who can get goals, who can get double figures.
“They are heavily reliant on the front three – or the front five if you include Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.
“But you always need one of those midfielders that’s going to get in the box and get you goals.”
    Leeds want Huddersfield’s O’Brien
Leeds Utd boss Jesse Marsch will make a new move for Huddersfield midfield star Lewis O’Brien.
But the Terriers plan to offer him a second new contract in a year if they get to the Premier League.

Now Wolves are facing a fight to keep him as clubs come in for the impressive England U21s star, who looks ready for Premier League football.

Asked about the Champions League final, the Irishman said: “My family are Liverpool.

Now that form has caught the eye of their rivals – and the club could cash in.
Promotion winners Fulham are keen on the 23-year-old ahead of their return to the Premier League.
And Championship rivals Middlesbrough are also interested.
    Kompany to raid City
Man City centre-half Taylor Harwood-Bellis is wanted by Vincent Kompany at Burnley.

But he came home after becoming unsettled and went to Stoke in January.
Now new Clarets chief Kompany hopes his relationship with former club City can help get the defender.
Harwood-Bellis, 20, is also wanted by rival English clubs, with Brentford trying for him last year.
And Scottish champions Celtic, who have elite European football to offer him, are keen too.
    Phillips wanted by Bournemouth
Liverpool want £15million for defender Nat Phillips after his successful loan spell at Bournemouth.
The centre-half became a cult hero at Anfield two seasons ago as he was thrust into the limelight by the Reds’ unprecedented spate of injuries.
But the returns of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez – plus the signing of Ibrahima Konate – left him well down the pecking order this term.
Phillips joined Bournemouth on loan in January and has been instrumental in their promotion to the Premier League.
Now the Cherries are desperate to keep hold of him for their return to the top-flight next season.

Poyet and his side will take on Kosovo, Cyprus and Northern Ireland in the Nations League next month.

Thanks for everything! Thanks to everyone! Your ‘President’.”
    Just give us a Koul
Barcelona have reportedly put Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly at the top of their defensive wishlist.
Koulibaly is yet to sign a new contract with Napoli despite the club’s best efforts.

Napoli will take £25m for Koulibaly, a price that could prompt Barca to make a swoop for him, the report added.
Man United are also keeping tabs on Koulibaly.
    What a Mess
Lionel Messi is believed to have told Barcelona president Joan Laporta to stop talking about him and a potential return to the Nou Camp.

    Ten Hag’s double raid
New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly plotting a double transfer raid of Darwin Nunez and Jurrien Timber.
The new Old Trafford chief has already set his sights on fresh talent as he looks to rebuild the team.

Benfica striker Nunez caught the eyes of fans this season as he hit 26 goals in 28 league games for Benfica, and has been heavily linked with the Manchester side.

It’s claimed that the 37-year-old couldn’t believe the condition that United’s HQ had been allowed to fall into.
And he reportedly returned feeling that no upgrades had been made since his initially left for Real Madrid in 2009.
According to the Mirror, Ronaldo’s main gripe was with the state of the swimming pools at Carrington.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner complained that “loose, chipped and missing tiles” within the pools were a safety hazard – and refused to use them.
Ronaldo even made sure to have an indoor pool at home in order to still be able to perform water-based drills.
United have taken their No7’s criticisms onboard, and have ordered work to be completed on the pools in order to get them ready for pre-season.
    Southgate on Man United pair
Man United duo Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho must win over new manager Erik ten Hag quickly in order to keep their World Cup dreams alive.
That is the message from Gareth Southgate, who has left the pair out of his England squad again.
Asked if the forwards still had a chance of forcing their way back in, Southgate said: “They do because I think there’s enough of a block of games at the beginning of next season that people can still play their way in.
“Of course it’s more difficult — you know, the closer we get, the more difficult it is.
“But they’ve got to start playing well with their club. Neither of them have really played at the end of the season.
England is a consequence of what you’re doing at your club and you’ve got to get your club bit right.
“Compared to others in those positions that we’ve picked, their level hasn’t been at the level of the others.”
    Man United release Rangnick statement
Man United have also confirmed Rangnick’s departure from the club.

And Merson warned Chelsea it could be the same for them under new American owner Todd Boehly.
Merson told the Daily Star: “Look at Manchester United. The Glazers have won the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But how long is it now since United challenged for the title?”

“That, for me, will be one of his most important things.”

“He causes disunity and disharmony,” he said at a William Hill event via the Daily Mirror.
When the ball does not come to him, he throws his hands up in the air, that’s a great example, isn’t it? The harmony at Manchester United is a problem and who causes that disharmony?
“He walks around as though ‘it’s the rest of them, I’m doing my job’. That’s not what a leader does – that’s what someone who does it for himself does.”

“I think he does need someone alongside him on the side of the pitch that can tell him about different stadiums, referees, different things that happen culturally in England around matches.
“Steve McClaren’s got vast experience, not just at Manchester United but obviously in English football.”

That’s the view of Paul Merson who claims English clubs are just toys for American owners.
He told the Daily Star: “Chelsea’s new owners are not going to invest the sort of money Roman Abramovich did.

“But Chelsea is just a toy for them to play with. Look at all the other American owners in the Premier League – their US sports teams all do better than the teams they own over here. Look at Stan Kroenke at Arsenal.”
    Bissouma transfer battle
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Brighton star Yves Bissouma.
That’s according to Football London who claim the Blues have been tracking the Mali international.
But the Blues have competition in the form of Aston Villa who are keen on the midfielder.
    Courtois demands respect from critics
Ex-Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois has sent a defiant message to critics in England after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid.
He said: “I saw a lot of tweets coming my way today saying that I will be humbled, but I think it was the other way around.
”Today I needed to win a final for my career, for all the hard work – to put respect on my name because I don’t think I have a lot of respect in England.”
    Courtois makes Liverpool assessment
Ex-Chelsea keeper and Real Madrid hero Thibaut Courtois reckons Liverpool were rattled by Real Madrid’s offside goal in the Champions League final.
He said: “I think they were the most dominant team.
“But a final, you have to win. It’s sometimes hard and a goalkeeper also plays his part.
“We didn’t want them to play at the back of their defence because that’s their strength. In the first half, they did quite well – in general, it was my day.”
    Chelsea troll Liverpool
    Are the Blues trolling Liverpool?
Chelsea’s Twitter account was quick to fire a congratulations message to Real Madrid after they won the Champions League.
Los Blancos were 1-0 winners over the Reds in the final.
And Chelsea’s admin immediately fired a note to Real Madrid fans.

    Kenedy chased by Leeds
Jesse Marsch is reportedly looking at Chelsea’s Brazilian ace Kenedy, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claim Leeds United are leading the chase for the out-of-favour winger.
Kenedy is out of contract in 2023, but is seen as surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
He has been at Chelsea since 2015, but been on loan a number of times including at Newcastle and Flamengo.
    Dembele move
Chelsea could make Ousmane Dembele the first signing of the Todd Boehly era, according to reports.
Mundo Deportivo report that the Blues are interested in signing the France World Cup winner, who is out of contract next month.
The Catalans want to keep hold of Dembele, but know that financially they may struggle to offer him the deal he is looking for.
Chelsea could face competition from Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd.
    Gallagher future
Connor Gallagher’s future is up in the air, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian tweeted: “Thomas Tuchel wants to have direct discussion with Conor Gallagher on future and next season plans. He’s highly rated by Chelsea manager.
However, Romano adds: “There are chances for Gallagher to be part of Chelsea squad for next season, as per (another journalist) @jacobsteinberg – but it’s not 100% sure yet.
    Merse’s warning to Blues
Paul Merson fears Chelsea’s big spending days are over, following a takeover by American Todd Boehly.
“Chelsea risk ending up like Arsenal unless their new American owners buck a worrying trend,” Merson wrote in his Daily Star column.
Look at Stan Kroenke at Arsenal.
“Chelsea’s new owners are not going to invest the sort of money Roman Abramovich did. Those days are over. These Americans are now involved with one of the biggest clubs in the world. These toys don’t come along too often – and I call it a toy because it is really, to these people.”
    Alonso Barça deal ‘close’
Marcos Alonso’s move from Chelsea is nearly complete, according to reports.
The Spanish defender is set for Barcelona, say Diario SPORT.
They Tweeted: ‘Negotiations between Barcelona and Chelsea for the signing of Marcos Alonso are at an advanced stage.
“It would be a financially beneficial operation for Barça, a transfer fee with variables that would be fulfilled with objectives.”
    Mount on Champions League final
Mason Mount is unsure on who will win the Champions League final.
And he also admitted he wished the Blues were participating in the spectacle.
He said to Sky Sports: “I’m not sure [how it will go]. Obviously it’s a top game, two top teams, so I’m very, very excited to watch.
“I wish we [Chelsea] were there but it will be a good game, we will see.”
    Out of Luk
Romelu Lukaku is reportedly desperate for a return to Inter Milan, and will do anything to make it happen.
The Belgian is open to taking a pay-cut to play at the San Siro next season, according to Tuttosport.
Inter can afford to pay him just half of his current £12.7m salary which works out to be £5.9m, the report adds.
    Mount on Chelsea’s new owner
Mason Mount is excited to begin work with Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly.
The Blues had a topsy turvy season amid their ownership woes, but Mount is optimistic that the club will return to winning ways with Boehly.
He said: “It’s an exciting time now with the owners being confirmed today, going forward it’s going to be exciting and obviously the era under Roman has been brilliant.
“We look forward now and it’s exciting stuff, can’t wait to get back to it.”
    More from Abramovich
Abramovich called owning Chelsea the “honour of a lifetime” as his 19-year ownership reaches its conclusion.
He continued: “I am pleased this search has now come to a successful conclusion. As I hand over Chelsea to its new custodians, I would like to wish them the best of success, both on and off the pitch.
“It has been an honour of a lifetime to be a part of this Club – I would like to thank all the Club’s past and current players, staff, and of course fans for these incredible years.
“I am proud that as a result of our joint successes, millions of people will now benefit from the new charitable foundation which is being established.
“This is the legacy which we have created together.
    “Thank you. Roman.”
    Abramovich’s statement on sale
His statement read: “It has been nearly three months since I announced my intention to sell Chelsea FC.
“During this time, the team have worked hard to find the right custodian for Chelsea FC that would be best positioned to successfully lead the Club into its next chapter.
“The ownership of this Club comes with great responsibility. Since I came to Chelsea nearly twenty years ago, I have witnessed first-hand what this Club can achieve.
“My goal has been to ensure that the next owner has a mindset that will enable success for the Men’s and Women’s team, as well as the will and drive to continue developing other key aspects of the Club, such as the Academy and the vital work of Chelsea Foundation.”
    Abramovich speaks on Chelsea sale
Roman Abramovich has penned an emotional statement speaking of his “legacy” at Chelsea as the club prepares to change hands.
And as the Abramovich era nears its conclusion, the sanctioned Russian oligarch has broken his silence for the first time in months.
He wrote a 234-word statement wishing success to Boehly and his consortium, both on and off the pitch.
Abramovich also vowed “millions of people will benefit” thanks to the charitable foundation that is set to receive the proceeds from the sale.
Kante set to leave for cut-price
Chelsea are set to let N’Golo Kante leave for a cut-price fee this summer, reports claim.
His contract is up at the end of next season, and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel wants to switch up his midfield, The Athletic reported.
And he’s willing to let Kante go for a reduced fee to do so, the report added.

    Alonso holding off Hamilton
The answer to the previous post is no.
Fernando Alonso has actually managed to gain four-tenths on Lewis Hamilton in the last lap.
    DRS now enabled
DRS has been enabled now, for the first time since the restart.
That will help Lewis Hamilton, who is less than four-tenths of a second behind Fernando Alonso.
Will he get him on the next lap?
Just over 30 mins on clock
There are 33 minutes left on the two-hour race clock.
So that will not be enough to complete a full 77-lap race.
Sergio Perez remains in P1, a shade under a second ahead of Carlos Sainz.
    29 more laps expected
We’re not going to get a full 77-lap race here by the looks of it.
Red Bull tell Max Verstappen there are 29 laps left to run.
Lap 34 – Hamilton back to work
Lewis Hamilton is all over the back of Fernando Alonso here.
But the tight-streets of Monaco are making any potential overtake very difficult indeed.
He’s less than half a second behind the Spaniard.
    Lap 33 – We’re back racing!
Right then, we’re back to green flag racing!
Charles Leclerc LOSES ground on Max Verstappen in P4, on what is a poor restart for the Ferrari man.
Sergio Perez locks up momentarily but just about manages to recover.
    Rolling start behind safety car
The cars are back out on the track now led by Sergio Perez, after the safety car of course.
We’re just moments away from the resumption of the race!
Will there be drama now the cars have been bunched up together again?
The prospect of some more rain in the next 30 minutes means there might well be.
    Race to resume at 4.15pm
Things are going to get back underway at 4.15pm (UK time).
That will make it a delay of around 20 minutes following that Mick Schumacher accident.
    Schumacher with the doctor
Mick Schumacher is currently chatting with the race doctor.
He’s walking freely and appears to be fine as they walk together side-by-side.
    That’s good to see.
Red flag – As it stands
Here’s a look at things as they stand, with the race just shy of the halfway mark.

    Perez
    Sainz
    Verstappen
    Leclerc
    Russell
    Norris
    Alonso
    Hamilton
    Ocon
    Bottas
    Vettel
    Gasly
    Ricciardo
    Stroll
    Tsunoda
    Zhou
    Latifi
    Albon

    Reason for the red flag
This pause in the race is so the clean-up team can replace the barrier that Mick Schumacher clattered into.
Hopefully it won’t be for too long.
But thankfully Schumacher appears to be ok.
    We have a red flag
The red flags are being waved now!
The cars are coming back into the pits on lap 30/77.
    A look at the crash
Here’s the state of Mick Schumacher’s Haas car after his crash.
Fortunately he managed to walk away from the incident and appeared relatively unharmed.

Lap 29 – Safety car still there
The safety car is still leading the drivers around the circuit.
    We’re currently on lap 29/77.
Sergio Perez is leading from Carlos Sainz, ahead of Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.
It’s looking like being another Monaco nightmare for hometown hero Leclerc.
    Both Haas’ are out
Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher have both retired from the race now.
So after UFC star Conor McGregor said yesterday said he was in Monaco supporting Haas, both of their cars are out.
A day to forget for the Notorious.
Yellow flag – Virtual safety car
Mick Schumacher has ploughed straight into the wall.
And his car has snapped in HALF.
He lost control and spun before smashing into the barrier, with the car doing its job of separating to ensure maximum safety.
This might take some cleaning up.
Schumacher says over team “I just can’t understand it.”
Lap 26 – Hamilton now fastest
George Russell isn’t the fastest man for long.
That honour has just gone to Lewis Hamilton, who has clear track in front of him.
He’s eight seconds behind Fernando Alonso.
Lap 26 – George Russell fastest
George Russell has just posted the fastest time of the race.
He’s up into P5 in Monaco.
Russell remains the only driver to have finished in the top five in every race this season.
    Lap 25 – Hamilton in P8
Lewis Hamilton has been battling away with Esteban Ocon for P8.
The seven-time world champ is now ahead of the AlphaTauri man as he comes in to the pits.

Lap 23 – Ferrari double stack
Ferrari bring in Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc to go onto the hard tyres.
And Leclerc is fuming about it.
He’s held up behind his team-mate, and now Sergio Perez is LEADING the Monaco GP.
    Lap 21 – Hamilton battling
Lewis Hamilton is all over the back of Esteban Ocon.
Ocon for now is holding firm, as Hamilton asks his team if Ocon is being investigated for his aggressive defence.
The answer to that is no, for now.
Lap 19 – Leclerc and Verstappen pit
The two championship favourites are in to the pits.
It means Carlos Sainz now leads the Monaco Grand Prix.
Sainz looks like he’s going to stay out and wait for slicks, instead of going in for the intermediates.
Lap 18 – Hamilton potential problem
That’s a close shave for Lewis Hamilton.
His front wing makes contact with the back of Esteban Ocon, but it looks like he’s escaped any damage.
Lap 17 – Perez in the pits
The P3 Sergio Perez is now also in the pits.
His Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen is yet to go in.
Perez comes back out in P5, just behind Lando Norris.
    Lap 16 – Hamilton pits
Lewis Hamilton is into the pits for the first time.
He switches from the wets onto the intermediate tyres.
