Tevez retires
Carlos Tevez has announced his retirement at the age of 38.
The striker had an illustrious career spanning seven clubs and three continents but has decided now is the right time to hang up his boots.
The Argentine has been without a club since leaving Boca Juniors at the end of last season, declaring he was mentally unfit to continue at the club.
Tevez believed he was capable of playing for several more years but revealed he rejected the opportunity to sign for a new club, turning down offers from MLS.

Lewandowski could force his way out
Robert Lewandowski could leave Bayern Munich for as little as £20million if he invokes a rarely-implemented FIFA rule, writes Chisanga Malata.
The prolific Poland international is keen to leave the German champions this summer after eight seasons at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern are said to want to sell Lewandowski, 33, for £27m but could, according to BILD, be forced to accept significantly less than their asking price due to the ‘Webster Rule’.

Aston Villa have confirmed the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Robin Olsen.
Olsen joined Villa on loan from Italian side AS Roma in January, after the conclusion of a separate loan spell at Championship side Sheffield United during the first half of the season.
The club’s statement said: “Aston Villa is pleased to announce the signing of Robin Olsen for an undisclosed fee.
“The Swedish goalkeeper joins from AS Roma on a permanent deal having spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa Park.
“The experienced international, capped over 50 times by his country, has represented clubs in Sweden, Greece, Denmark and in Italy across his career and has previously played Premier League football with Everton.
“Olsen made his Villa debut on the final day of last season at Manchester City.”
Although officially undisclosed, Fabrizio Romano has reported the fee for the goalkeeper is £3million.
Ronaldo snubbed Players’ Player of the Year award
Cristiano Ronaldo was snubbed by his Manchester United team-mates as David de Gea won the Players’ Player of the Year award.
The 37-year-old superstar Ronaldo had an admirable individual season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions.
