And back-up defenders Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones have struggled to secure a consistent run in the team, meaning new boss Erik ten Hag is set to dip into the transfer market.
    Ron the machine
Cristiano Ronaldo is a machine that won’t stop any time soon, according to his Man United team-mate Diogo Dalot.
Dalot told United’s media: “I think the stats can speak for themselves.
“He’s a machine, like I like to call him. Inside of the pitch, outside of the pitch, the way he works, the way he drives himself every single day to perform like this, to give us these goals and these performances.
“I think it’s a plus for this club and for the fans and, hopefully, we can stay with him for many, many years. I know he is not going to be here forever but I’m sure that he will play football for a few more years yet.”
    Man United plot Nunez bid
Man United are prepared to rival Liverpool for the signing of Benfica ace Darwin Nunez.
Liverpool are said to be preparing an £85m bid for the attacker.
But the Red Devils will match Liverpool’s bid despite the price, according to ESPN.
    Ragnick’s Man United failure explained
Ralf Rangnick failed to make an impact at Man United because he wasn’t given enough time.
That’s the view of Real Madrid ace David Alaba who has been working with Rangnick since he became Austria’s new manager.
Alaba, who labelled Rangnick world class, told The Athletic: “He has been really good, you can see we have a really good plan and you can see it works for us on the pitch.
“He doesn’t want us to let the opponents breathe air. It is good for us. I have known Ralf since I was 18 years old and he is a world-class coach.
“What he did in the past is something special and now I am seeing it close up. He showed what he can do at Leipzig, Salzburg and Hoffenheim.
“He didn’t have a lot of time in Manchester. He has a really good plan and knows a lot about football.”
    Eriksen given transfer advice
Christian Eriksen has been told he can join a better club than Man United by Gabby Agbonlahor.
Eriksen’s been linked with a number of clubs this summer including United.
But Agbonlahor reckons United isn’t the best club on the list of teams interested in the Danish midfielder.
Agbonlahor shared his view with talkSPORT and said: “I am sure he has got so many options.
“Talk about Manchester United, but, I do not know, maybe he can do better than Manchester United.”
Man United target offered to Arsenal
Arsenal are being offered the chance to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-half Manuel Akanji.
Now Akanji’s representatives are looking for a move to the Premier League and are targeting Arsenal as potential buyers.
They are highlighting the fact that Akanji, who has also been linked to Manchester United, is a Swiss team-mate of Gunners ace Granit Xhaka who impressed in an friendly against England in March.
And they are confident that Dortmund’s current £21million asking price – similar to the fee they have just paid to sign Schlotterbeck from Freiburg – is certain to drop in the coming weeks.
    De Jong’s ‘perfect’ for United
Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong will be the “perfect fit” for Man United’s midfield in the wake of Paul Pogba’s exit.
Pogba left United this summer after his contract expired.
His exit has left a void in United’s midfield that transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio reckons De Jong is apt to fill.
Di Marzio told wettfreunde: “De Jong for Man Utd is perfect for next season where Pogba is not playing anymore.
“It depends on Barcelona if they have to sacrifice him.”
    All Said and done
West Ham are ready to listen to offers for Said Benrahma this summer and are still interested in bringing Jesse Lingard back to the club.
Should West Ham find a buyer for Benrahma, they are keen to recoup the £30million fee and not sell cheaply.
West Ham are interested in bringing Jesse Lingard back to the London Stadium after his deal at Manchester United expired.
Man United receive De Jong boost
Man United’s transfer pursuit of Frenkie de Jong have been boosted by Barcelona’s financial woes.
Barca may be forced to sell the midfielder due to economic difficulties, according to transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio.
He told wettfreunde: “(Frenkie) De Jong because he will be back with his former coach, Ten Hag. De Jong is perfect for every top team in the world.
“If Barcelona will sell De Jong, it is only because of financial problems, not because they want to sell De Jong because Xavi loves him.
“If they will sell him it is only because they have problems and they will not sign any new players.
“He is an incredible player for the team.”
    Prem teams interested in Sangare
Man United and Chelsea are set to do battle for PSV Eindhoven ace Ibrahim Sangaré.
The 24-year-old reportedly has his heart set on a move to the Prem this summer, according to the Utd report.
And there’s no shortage of top-tier clubs willing to give the defensive midfielder a new home.
Newcastle and Liverpool have also been linked with Sangare recently.
    Asensio speaks on Real future
Marco Asensio has opened up on his future with Real Madrid amid interest from Premier League clubs.
He said when asked about his future, reported by Fabrizio Romano: “Renew or leave? By the way, there is also the option of staying for the remaining year of my contract.”
“I’ll speak with Real soon – I’m now looking for regularity for the next few years. It’s important.”
Man United, Arsenal, and Tottenham have been tracking the striker.
    Man United enquire about Bastoni
Man United have enquired about the possibility of signing Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, according to reports.
The 23-year-old centre-back has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring him to North London, but he will now have to fend off competition from Man Utd.
According to The Mail, the Red Devils have opened up a dialogue with Inter in an attempt to snatch the defender away from Tottenham.
It comes after a difficult season for United’s centre-backs – with Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane failing to form a solid partnership.
And back-up defenders Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones have struggled to secure a consistent run in the team, meaning new boss Erik ten Hag is set to dip into the transfer market.
    Morr where that came from
Ravel Morrison wowed fans with a stunning free-kick for Jamaica in a 3-1 win over Suriname.
Jamaica were awarded a free-kick at least 25 yards from goal and Morrison whipped the ball up and over the wall before it nestled in the top corner.
Supporters on social media were quickly raving about the free-kick and lavished praise on the ex-Man United midfielder.
One fan tweeted: “Love seeing Ravel Morrison scoring for Jamaica. What a talent.”
Another added: “Ravel Morrison what a player.”
A third wrote: “Whoooooa, Ravel Morrison. That’s a beauty.”

    United urged to sign Timber
Man United need to sign Ajax ace Jurrien Timber to get the club to a higher level.
That’s the opinion of former Ajax star Marciano Vink, who reckons United are lacking the quality Timber will provide.
Vink told ESPN: “He’s a good defender but most of all he anticipates really well.
“Those kinds of players you need to bring in to Man Utd to get to a higher level. I know for England they’re not common or well-known names but you need to start playing football again.
“I have seen many matches of Man Utd and it was lacking pace, football, there were too many players satisfied playing for Man United and not eager to win, not eager to play for the club.
“[Ten Hag] has to change the behaviour, mentality in the club and it’s going to take a while.”
    Van Gaal launches Woodward attack
Louis van Gaal has taken aim at former Man United chief Ed Woodward.
Woodward has been replaced by new CEO Richard Arnold who could help Erik ten Hag be successful as United’s manager.
Van Gaal told Voetball International: “There is now a new leadership, it was Woodward and now it is Richard Arnold.
“And that can make the difference, so we have to wait and see. He [Ten Hag] has a lot of confidence. So who am I to say something about that?”
    Phillips gets big club warning
Leeds star Kalvin Phillips will have limited game time if he moves to Man United, Liverpool, or Man City, according to Glen Johnson.
But Johnson reckons United could make a swoop for Phillips if they fail to recruit Declan Rice from West Ham.
Johnson told bettingodds: “I don’t think he’d get much gametime at either of those clubs if I’m being honest.
“I’m a fan of his and I think he’s a fantastic player, but all of those clubs have got many players in his position. I think it all depends on what happens with other players.
“I don’t want to keep on bringing up Declan Rice, but I think the clubs that don’t get him will certainly be more keen to go for Phillips. I think it all depends on other transfers as there’s no point in moving clubs to not play.
“Unless there’s more movement in terms of outgoings, then I don’t see him playing much at either club.”
    Prem giants battle for Botman
Man United and Tottenham are interested in signing Lille star Sven Botman, according to reports.
Newcastle wanted to sign him in January but failed to agree a fee with the French side, who rejected a bid worth £30million.
But Toon retain an interest in the defender along with AC Milan, United and Spurs, according to Gianluca DiMarzio.
However, the journalist claims Milan are not prepared to meet Lille’s asking price which is believed to be around £34-38m.
Lille’s hefty demands could play into the hands of the Premier League sides who will likely have a bigger budget than Milan.
    Van Persie’s love for United
But Van Persie still has a huge amount of respect for Man United and England despite rejecting a coaching role under Erik ten Hag.
He said: “The respect of the fans is enormous. When I came back a few years later with Fenerbahce, after winning the league with United and Sir Alex, I still got a gigantic appreciation from the people.
“England is a great country to live in. The people are warm and friendly. It’s a 40-minute flight from Rotterdam, but you end up in a totally different world. A very beautiful world.
“The football also suited me enormously. I continue to think it’s the most beautiful league in the world. The fields are like green pool tables. All the stadiums are big and always full – and England absolutely breathes soccer.”
    Van Persie explains United rejection
Robin van Persie has revealed he turned down a coaching role at Man United to give his family some stability in the Netherlands.
Van Persie’s currently a coach at Feyenoord, and didn’t want to uproot his family who are settled in the region following his hectic playing career that took him around the world.
He said to Life After Football: “My son and daughter are important right now.
“In London, when I played at Arsenal, we moved five times. We also lived in Manchester and Istanbul.
“All in all, we were away for almost fourteen years. But then we thought ‘what’s good for the kids now?’ and felt a little stability would be nice.”
    Tottenham close in on Torres
Tottenham are reportedly closing in on a part-exchange deal with Villarreal for defender Pau Torres.
The deal will see Torres move to White Hart Lane in place of Giovani Lo Celso, who will make his loan switch to the La Liga side permanent, according to Sky Italia.
The news will be a blow to Man United who are also keen on recruiting Torres this summer.
    Van Gaal fires Timber warning
Louis van Gaal has warned Ajax star Jurrien Timber against a transfer to Man United this summer.
Van Gaal doubts Timber will get the playing time he needs at Old Trafford despite possessing the ability to succeed in the Prem.
Van Gaal said: “I think a player of his quality can play in the Premier League. That is not a problem.
“If he has to make this big step now, that’s the question.
“It is not so wise I think [to move to United]. He has to play.”
    Good morning Man Utd fans
Man Utd centre-back Harry Maguire has paid his respects to the victims of the Munich air disaster at the memorial.
Maguire was there ahead of England’s Nations League 1-1 draw with Germany yesterday evening.
England boss Gareth Southgate and his assistant Steve Holland would have been the perfect for Man United, according to Danny Murphy.
United transfer target Kalvin Phillips was forced off through injury early on for England in their Nations League clash.
Other target Aurelien Tchouameni has been snapped up by Real Madrid in a £85million-plus deal with Monaco, according to reports.
Ryan Giggs has been out clothes shopping with a friend as he awaits the beginning of his court case on August 8.
The former Man Utd winger remains suspended by Wales pending his trial.
Cristiano Ronaldo has urged new boss Erik ten Hag to give the youngsters a shot next season.

    Tielemans hints at exit
Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Youri Tielemans after the Leicester star declared he is open to depart the King Power Stadium.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the East Midlands with his contract to expire in 2023.
Speaking in Belgium’s pre-match press conference ahead of their Nations League clash against Poland, Tielemans was asked whether he could leave Leicester.
He replied: “That is not out of the question. But I can also stay. I feel very good at Leicester.
“I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I give everything for the club until the last day.
“But of course you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.”
Of course you have to listen to other opportunities.Youri Tielemans
Saka speculation no worries for Arsenal
Arsenal are shrugging off speculation surrounding Bukayo Saka and are happy to wait for the player to finish his summer holiday before launching contract negotiations.
Both Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with the 20-year-old England winger since the Gunners missed out on Champions League qualification last month.
But Arsenal are adamant that their current Player of the Year is going nowhere and remain confident that he will soon sign a new long-term Emirates deal.
Saka is currently away on international duty and is not due to return for pre-season training for another five weeks.

And manager Mikel Arteta is keen for his young star to take a complete break from football before getting down to serious contract talks.
As SunSport reported back in March, the plan has always been to sort out Saka’s long-term future this summer with the offer of a new deal worth somewhere in the region of £125,000-a-week.
    Toon in for Morata
Newcastle have reportedly joined the race to prise Alvaro Morata away from Atletico Madrid, writes Jake Lambourne.
The Spanish striker is on his way back to the Wanda Metropolitano after spending the last two seasons on loan at Juventus.
Chelsea flop Morata is facing an uncertain future under Diego Simeone, with Arsenal claimed to be eyeing up a shock transfer.
Serie A giants Juventus remain keen on turning his temporary stay in Turin into a permanent switch.

It is believed that the Old Lady aren’t willing to match Atletico’s £30million asking price having already forked out £17m on his loan.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle are keeping tabs on Morata ahead of a possible swoop.

    Half time: Germany 0-0 England
Germany will be keen to show more attacking prowess in the second half for the patient German fans in Munich.
They are seeing plenty of the ball and are stretching England – they are one pass away from opening their opponents up and scoring.
Gareth Southgate could no doubt put a good spin on a draw in Munich, but it is very difficult to win World Cups without scoring any goals.
Not have these two nations played out such a stalemate since the fields of France many moons ago.
Tactically, this is a better showing by both – they just seem unable to break each other down.
Both managers have plenty of attacking options on the bench.

    Betsy says his goodbyes
Kevin Betsy said his goodbyes to Arsenal whilst thanking the club for a wonderful experience.
He said: ” I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Arsenal, all of the staff and players for a wonderful time at the club.
“The club has been first class in how things have been conducted and allowing me to take this chance to progress myself with the opportunity at Crawley Town.”
    Arsenal lose two academy coaches
Arsenal have been dealt a blow after losing top academy bosses Kevin Betsy and Dan Micciche to Crawley Town.
Betsy helped guide Arsenal’s U23s to a top-three finish in Premier League 2.
He also spent five successful years in the England youth setup, taking charge of the Three Lions’ U15s, 16s, 17s and 18s, before joining the Gunners in the summer of 2021.
Betsy has penned a two-year deal with the mid-table League Two outfit.
Joining as his assistant manager is Arsenal U18s boss Micciche.
Like manager Betsy, Micciche spent time with the England youth setup before making the switch to Arsenal.

    Arsenal’s highest-ranked stars
Arsenal have four players in the world’s top 100 most valuable list.
Bukayo Saka is the priciest of them all at £85.4m – a value which sees him slot in two spots below Sancho in 15th.
Then comes Emile Smith-Rowe down in 62nd position at £53.1m, followed by Martin Odegaard in 75th at £49.2m.
And the final Gunners player to make it into the list is keeper Aaron Ramsdale – who squeezes into the top 100 in 94th at £43.6m.
    Nunez blow to Gunners
Man Utd and Newcastle are reportedly leading the chase to sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
Arsenal and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also allegedly keen on the forward.
The Uruguayan star has hit the headlines with his red-hot form this season, finding the net 32 times in all competitions.
Now ESPN claims that United and Newcastle “are bidding” for the hotshot and they are “closest to signing him” at present.

World Cup to have ‘ROBOT LINESMEN’ for first time in history
FIFA remains on track to introduce “robo linesmen” at the 2022 World Cup, writes Martin Lipton.
World boss Gianni Infantino is keen to introduce the “semi automated offside” system for Fifa’s global showpiece which starts in November.
Trials of the system, which uses 10 cameras to track 29 body points of each player, took place in the Club World Cup won by Liverpool and the Arab Cup held in four of Doha’s eight World Cup stadiums.

And with all the signs that the technology does work, bringing far quicker offside calls than under the current VAR line-led system, world chiefs are due to give a positive update at Monday’s delayed annual general meeting of the law-making International FA Board.
England’s opener against Iran on November 21 will be only the second game in which the technology is deployed.
    Walcott issues Saka stark warning
Bukayo Saka has been urged to remain with Arsenal by ex-Gunner Theo Walcott.
Walcott warned Saka that he won’t be a big fish at City like he is with Arsenal.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Walcott said: ” He needs to understand that the playing opportunities will be limited at Manchester City.
“He will, of course, be more likely to win things, but it is not saying Arsenal won’t win things.
“I think they are in that phase, they are slowly starting to get there. They would have taken fifth at the start of the season, given how it went.
“I am hopeful he will be at Arsenal next season, I am pretty sure of that.”

Leno lined up by German club
Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno could be in line for a switch to Hertha Berlin.
Leno’s looking for a new club after falling down the pecking order behind Aaron Ramsdale.
And Hertha have placed Leno on a five-man shortlist of possible replacements for counterpart Alexander Schwolow, according to Bild.
However, Leno will have to take a huge pay cut to join the German side who won’t be able to afford his £5.5m annual wages, the report adds.
England XI the last time in Germany – beaten by Podolski
England will play long-time rivals Germany in Munich on Tuesday with Gareth Southgate’s men chasing a first Nations League group win this season.
The Three Lions kicked off the competition with a shock 1-0 loss to Hungary, with the goal being scored from the penalty spot.
The last time England played Germany in their own back yard was over five years ago.
Then world champions Germany won the game 1-0 at the Signal Iduna Park, home of Borussia Dortmund.

Former Arsenal ace Lukas Podolski got the only goal of the game, which came in the second half.
But England’s line-up that night is completely unrecognisable to today’s squad of players…
Saka speculation no worries for Arsenal
Arsenal are shrugging off speculation surrounding Bukayo Saka and are happy to wait for the player to finish his summer holiday before launching contract negotiations.

    Arsenal chase Sassuolo striker
Arsenal are one of several clubs tracking Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.
The Gunners’ interest was confirmed by Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali, who also claims AC and Inter Milan are keen on the forward.
Carnevali told Football Italia: “There have been some contacts with some clubs for Scamacca and others.”
But the Gunners face a tough time convincing Sassuolo to sell as they want to keep hold of young stars like Scamacca.
Carnevali added: “Our desire is to keep most players in the team, and there is nothing concrete for now.’
‘We need to wait for young players and give them a chance in Serie A.”
    Arsenal’s highest-ranked stars

    Prem giants in Osimhen battle
Newcastle have joined Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, according to reports.
Both Man Utd and Arsenal are in the hunt for reinforcements up front and have identified £85million man Osimhen as a potential target.
But according to transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, both clubs have been joined by newly mega-rich Newcastle in the hunt for the Nigeria international.
    Gabriel Jesus transfer price boost
Arsenal and Chelsea have received a boost in their pursuit of Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.
According to Marca, Jesus and Man City agreed a long time ago that his price would be set at £43million.
This could enable both Arsenal and Chelsea to afford him this summer.
    Walcott issues Saka stark warning

    Walcott makes Gareth Bale plea
Theo Walcott would love to see Gareth Bale back at Southampton next season.
Asked about a potential return for Bale, Walcott told TalkSport: “I am not the man to answer that but I would love him there, of course.
“There are a lot of teams, it is Gareth Bale.
“You can see what he does for Wales, it shows that he’s still fit and hungry.
“It will be very interesting, I am intrigued.”

    Grealish stakes big Qatar claim
Jack Grealish possesses that ‘wow factor’ that we need to see grace a World Cup Finals.
He has the ability to change a game in an instant and when he is allowed to play his attacking game free of any constraints, he is a danger to anyone who faces him.
England will be satisfied with a draw from the position they found themselves in, Grealish nearly inspired an unlikely win.
The Man City attacker has to be a sure thing for his ticket to Qatar.

At times, two teams can cancel each other out and it was very much the case this evening between two European giants.
Having played each other so often, they know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and how they will set themselves up.
It took the creative wizardry of some of England’s options from the bench to shake the German resolve.
Disappointing having worked so hard to get their noses in front at the Allianz Arena.
    German defences finally breached
It looked like for a long time this evening that England just would not find a way through the resolute German defence.
The addition of Jack Grealish changed the game and gave the hosts a headache that they just could not cope with.
Having to put more players on Grealish to deal with the threat he posed, created pockets of space for his teammates.
Kane managed to get himself a yard of space on Schlotterbeck, causing the German to have a coming together which was deemed enough to prevent a goalscoring opportunity.
VAR coming to the rescue of Gareth Southgate and his players.
Confidence was high after the goal and it was Germany who were holding on at the end to prevent an England winner.
    I’m coming for Roo!
Harry Kane’s goal this evening took him to 50 goals for his country and puts him one step closer to Wayne Rooney’s record of 53 goals.
Tottenham’s striker is keen to achieve this before they even set foot on the plane to Qatar.
There was no doubt with his penalty tonight as he buried it in the bottom corner.

    Bookies none the wiser tonight
Both of these sides are often talked about when it comes to teams who could actually challenge for this year’s FIFA World Cup.
With their domestic leagues including some of Europe’s best sides, they are expected to compete.
Neither side has registered a win yet in the Nations League this campaign.
Fans will not accept these European powerhouses failing to deliver at yet another finals.
Germany made to feel the Kane
Despite the stats showing that both teams had six shots on target over the course of the game, clear-cut chances for England were few and far between.
Harry Kane will feel his night could have been a lot better if it wasn’t for a world-class save from Neuer and an air-swipe at a Jack Grealish cut-back.
To be the best, you set yourself high standards, Kane will know that.
    FT: Germany 1-1 England
The referee brings the game to a close.
For England, this will seem like a point gained.
Germany will be disappointed to let a lead slip so late on.
    Germany 1-1 England
90+4. England are unhappy that Germany do not kick the ball out for the injured Bellingham.
No team is obliged to do so.
There is no repeat of the empathy of Dunkirk.
    Seconds remain.
    Germany 1-1 England
    90+2. Bellingham is down injured.
Germany look to counter attack with Werner bursting into the box.
England manage to snuff out the attack.
Temporarily down to ten men with Bellingham on the floor still.
Germany 1-1 England – Kane chance
    90. Grealish again does brilliantly.
His trickery allows him to square a ball to the oncoming Harry Kane.
The England talisman has a swipe at the ball and misses it.
Gareth Southgate’s side are finishing on the front foot here.
We will have four additional minutes.
    Germany 1-1 England
    88. Harry Kane has his 50th England goal.
What a time to get it.

Germany 1-0 England – VAR review
    86. The referee has been asked to go to the monitor.
Kane was definitely clipped in the box.
The referee awards a penalty to England.
Schlotterbeck is also shown a yellow card for his foul.
    Germany 1-0 England
    84. Bowen does brilliantly out on the right.
He whips a teasing ball into the back post that just needs a touch to go in.
Somehow Klostermann manages to clear it for a corner.
    Germany clear.
    Germany 1-0 England
    82. Germany are struggling to deal with Grealish.
They are having to get numbers over to try and block any crosses he gets into the box.
The corner is worked to Sterling on the edge of the box, he drops the shoulder to get some shooting space but his shot is only troubling fans and not the German keeper.
    Germany 1-0 England
    80. Raheem Sterling is penalised.
Jarrod Bowen is going to be joining us, on for Bukayo Saka.
Bowen immediately runs at Germany given the chance.
    Germany 1-0 England
    78. Werner is offering Germany options with his fresh legs as they play the ball into the channels more.
England are pressing Germany less and less.
Fatigue seems to be setting in a little now.
Germany 1-0 England – Kane chance
    76. Thomas Muller is replaced by Leon Goretzka.
Grealish crosses brilliantly from the left into the path of Harry Kane.
His shot is somehow deflected by the leg of Neuer.
Making himself big and getting a touch.
    Big chance.

    Germany 1-0 England
    74. Grealish runs at the full back and wins a corner.
As the ball is swung in, Maguire gets a head to it and his looping header causes Neuer problems.
The German stopper getting an outstretched hand to it to clear.
Germany counter attack at pace and Pickford makes another good save.
    Germany 1-0 England
    72. Jack Grealish comes on for Mason Mount.
Big things needed from the Man City attacker.
Kane is dropping deeper and deeper looking for the ball.
    Germany 1-0 England
    70. I wonder if Chelsea’s new owners truly realise how much money they will spend on whistles alone for the training ground.
The amount of times Timo Werner and Kai Havertz must be offside in training I am surprised they do not have a kit deal with Birds Eye just to keep them in peas.
Muller has a shot at the back post but Pickford saves well with a strong hand to keep him out.
    Germany 1-0 England
    68. Gundogan goes to ground after coming together with the referee.
The game has to restart with a drop ball.
German fans show their discontent to Bellingham kicking the ball too early.
Die Mannschaft are knocking on the door again here.
    Germany 1-0 England
    66. Hoffman comes off for Gnabry.
Timo Werner comes on for Musiala.
Fresh legs to test the England defence.
    Credit: AFP
    Germany 1-0 England
    64. Germany look the more patient of the two sides.
It is much easier to have that mentality when you have a one-goal lead.
England seem to be rushed in the final third and making simple errors as a result.
    Germany 1-0 England
    62. The travelling fans try to lift their team.
Another promising England attack breaks down when they gift possession back to the hosts.
Both teams’ passing is very poor at the moment.

    What’s he all about?
Danny Murphy has questioned Man United’s new boss Erik ten Hag’s ability to coach a big club.
Murphy told talkSPORT: “I think what Ten Hag has done of course is credible, winning the league three times etc.
“But he’s not managed big players at a big club, so we don’t know how he’s going to deal with that pressure.
“Every part of his life is going to be magnified, whether he goes to the wrong shop at the wrong time, whether he drives the wrong car. Everything he does is going to be talked about.”
    Pogba talks

“I need to enjoy what I do because otherwise I cannot perform well. I don’t want to be thinking negative.
“We can be losing games, losing trophies but you have to be happy where you are and enjoy yourself. That’s what I’m looking for.”
    Tchou good for United

Ronaldo said to United’s media: “I think we should give opportunities to the young generation.
“I am in favor that we should give opportunities to the young generation because they will be the future.
You have to help them as well to put it in the right spots.
“The pressure is a lot to play in the Premier League, which I believe is the most difficult league in the world by far.
“You have to give them time, you have to give them the opportunity and let them grow in a normal way, without pressure.”
    Fries with that?
Man United are reportedly tracking Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries.
New boss Erik ten Hag has already put together a list of potential transfer targets, and Dumfries, 26, is said to be at the very top.

“I think with what they’ve achieved at England, the way he’s managed players, big players, I think he’s evolved into a very intelligent football manager, and with Steve by his side I think they’d do a great job at a big club.
“What United need now isn’t all about on the pitch. They’ll be judged on that but initially what do United need?
“They need someone to bring together this squad and try and create a unity and an atmosphere and an energy that England have.”

    Nunez tipped for Liverpool transfer
Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has been tipped to pick Liverpool over Man United by Glen Johnson.
Johnson told BettingOdds: “You’d think Núñez would head to Anfield if it’s between Liverpool and Manchester United. As we know, Manchester United don’t have the same pulling power they once did.
“There was a time when Manchester United came calling then the answer was ‘yes’. That’s not the case at the moment, so if Liverpool and Manchester United are going head to head for him then I’m sure he’d pick Liverpool over United.
“If Liverpool are to pay the £100 million that Benfica supposedly want for him, then that’s against their structure and the way they do business, but that’s the way the game is going.
” If they don’t start opening up to that, then others will capitalise on that. I do like the way Liverpool do their business, but they need to be a bit flexible with it because the other big guns will be willing to pay it, whether it’s against their protocols or not.”
    Wenger slams Ronaldo media bias
Arsene Wenger has slammed the media for being biased towards Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lewandowski speaks on Bayern exit reasons
Robert Lewandowski has opened up on why he wants to leave Bayern Munich.

“Something died in me and I want more emotions in my life. An exit is the best solution for both parties.

Man United have previously been linked with the attacker.
    Bayern prepare Mane bid
Bayern Munich are preparing an improved £30million bid for Liverpool ace Sadio Mane, according to reports.

But according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are hoping to get around £42.5m for the 30-year-old who has one year left on his deal, which would help fund a replacement.
One of the targets the Reds would like to replace Mane with is highly rated Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.
Arsenal and Man United are also keen on the striker.
    Sancho’s England spot continued
Sancho’s England career could get back on track if he performs well for Man United under new boss Erik ten Hag.
But the winger’s at risk of missing out on the World Cup if he doesn’t produce the goods, Whelan reckons.
He continued in his chat with Football Insider: “Hopefully under Ten Hag he can get more minutes and play in a system that suits him better.
“We hardly saw anything in the way of consistency last season. It’s looking like a strange move at this point.
“It’s an area where England are saturated with talent. He’s going to have to hit the ground running at the start of next season.
“Otherwise, he’s in danger of missing out on the World Cup.”

The Toon are determined to sign Ake or Botman – but won’t sign both even if the opportunity arises as they would occupy the same role within Howe’s squad.

    Liverpool set Mane asking price
Liverpool have reportedly set a transfer price for Sadio Mane amid interest from Bayern Munich.
Bayern placed a £30m bid for the Senegal international.
But the Reds will only do business with the German side if they can cough up £42m, according to the Metro.
Di Maria set for Barcelona transfer
Angel Di Maria has reportedly agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old Argentine emotionally left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season when his contract expired.
It brought to a close a seven-year spell with the French giants where he scored 93 goals and provided 119 assists in 295 appearances.
According to Relevo, he now looks set to choose Barcelona over Juventus in what would be a highly controversial move.
That is because the South American spent five years with Spanish rivals Real Madrid.
    Atletico want Paolo Dybala
Atletico Madrid are the latest club to enter the transfer race for soon-to-be free agent Paolo Dybala.
Dybala’s contract with Juventus expires at the end of the month.

And now Atletico have approached Dybala’s agent Jorge Antun to see if they can get a deal done, according to transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio.
    Besiktas to sign Burnley striker
Besiktas are looking to sign Burnley’s Dutch international forward Wout Weghorst on an initial one year loan.
The former Wolfsburg man has told the relegated Clarets he cannot play in the Championship next season with the World Cup on the horizon.
Reports in Turkey suggest Besiktas would offer an initial fee to take Weghorst on loan – with a permanent agreement kicking in next summer.
Burnley are unlikely to get their money back on a player who cost them £12million in January.
He was bought as a replacement for Newcastle bound Chris Wood but could not get the goals to save the East Lancashire club from the drop.
    Chelsea line double swoop
Chelsea are lining up a stunning double swoop for centre-backs Jules Kounde and Matthijs de Ligt, according to reports.

“No other offers were even considered by me other than that of Barcelona. I want to leave Bayern, that’s clear.”
    Bale wanted by TEN clubs
Gareth Bale has had offers from more than 10 clubs after leaving Real Madrid, according to reports.
The winger, 32, is out of contract after Real failed to offer him new terms – ending his nine-year spell at the Bernabeu.
A move to hometown club Cardiff is one possibility but more than ten clubs want Bale, according to the Daily Mail.
Some MLS clubs are said to be in the mix including Wayne Rooney’s former side DC United, who are willing to make him their highest-paid player in history.
The likes of Newcastle, Rangers and Celtic have also been linked, with a second return to Tottenham also mooted.
Another of Bale’s ex-clubs Southampton have also been linked with Wales’ record goalscorer.
But it is believed Cardiff are leading the race to sign Bale with chairman Mehmet Dalman set to open negotiations.
    Bayern prepare Mane bid
Bayern Munich are preparing an improved £30million bid for Liverpool ace Sadio Mane, according to reports.
The German champions offered £21m with an additional £4.6m in add-ons if they win the Champions League.
But according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are hoping to get around £42.5m for the 30-year-old who has one year left on his deal, which would help fund a replacement.
One of the targets the Reds would like to replace Mane with is highly rated Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.

“He’s more than capable of doing the performances on the field. It’s a pat on the back for Raheem.”

“If you sell him and replace him, you may lose some goals.
“I don’t know what will happen, but allowing someone of his quality to leave is always difficult, I think you’d want to keep him for many years.
“If it’s due to a financial problem and he can bring in a lot of money, then that’s understandable. Otherwise, I’d keep him.”

This comes following reports from Sky Italia that Lukaku has been calling former team mates, the coach, directors and the president at Inter Milan since Christmas to try and move back to the San Siro.
Goldberg said: “The disrespect Romelu Lukaku has shown Tuchel, his teammates, the whole club of Chelsea & the fans is honestly shocking.
“No more apology videos, no more PR spins, it’s time to go and congrats because you’ve chosen to have this awful Chelsea legacy now, it wasn’t forced upon you.”

    Gilmour gets career decline warning
Chelsea ace Billy Gilmour has been warned he needs to raise his game to avoid becoming an international flop like Scottish compatriot Barry Bannan.
Bannan was viewed as Scotland’s prized asset in his prime like Gilmour is now.
But after a few sub-par performances for his international side, Scotland legend Charlie Nicholas reckons Gilmour could face a career decline like 32-year-old Sheffield Wednesday star Bannan.
Nicholas said, via the Scottish daily express: “Billy Gilmour is a talented player but if he is not careful, he could end up becoming the next Barry Bannan.
“Gilmour is a tidy footballer but he has to offer more and we need to stop making him out to be our saviour. He struggled in the play-off because he didn’t get on the ball enough- and when he did it was square pass, square pass.
“Let’s hope he can make a greater impact than Bannan- another physically small midfielder who did OK for a few seasons but failed to hit the heights everyone hoped.”
    Lukaku transfer doubts

“Then I thought: I want that too! I also have a shirt of him. Chelsea was just my club, man. Just like Feyenoord from an early age.”

Romelu Lukaku’s transfer from Chelsea could be good for all parties involved, according to Glen Johnson.
He told BettingOdds: “I personally would want to go again next season and prove myself, but I feel with Lukaku that he’s had a whole season to show that sort of courage and he hasn’t.
“I can’t see anything changing next season. If he was the sort of player that can stand up and show courage next season, then I think we would have already seen hints of that.
“I can see him settling elsewhere because if he has that type of courage to bounce back in pre-season, then he should have had the courage to bounce back during his first season.
“I don’t see him bouncing back next season, so maybe a move somewhere else is best for both parties.”

In other news, RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku has revealed that he is ‘flattered’ by interest from a number of top clubs.

“Yes it’s flattering, but it’s also flattering to have a club like Leipzig do everything to keep me as well.
“I’ll have to reflect and make a decision. The World Cup is on the way and that’s another factor to take into account.”

“Of course, we are all buzzing for Harry, we want him to smash the record and we’re always here to support him.
“Whenever I’m given a chance if I’m on a pitch with him, I’ll try and help him to get to his targets.
“But for me, it’s all about whenever you get the opportunity, to just try and grab it with two hands and just show what you are made of.”
