CHELSEA are in need of some defensive reinforcements with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen departing from Stamford Bridge. And the Blues are reportedly interested in Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt but the Old Lady have demanded for Timo Werner in return.
But reports suggest that Chelsea are also chasing Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe.
Meanwhile, the battle for Raphinha is far from over as Barcelona have put in a staggering £60 million bid according to reports.

    Chelsea told to forget duo
Chelsea should drop their transfer interest in both Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele, according to club legend Frank Lebeouf.
Lebeouf has concerns about the consistency of the pair who have been strongly liked with moves to Stamford Bridge.
When asked who he prefers out of the two, Lebeouf told ESPN: “Can I say none? Is that possible for me?
“I’ve expressed myself about Ousmane Dembele and the lack of consistency that he showed playing for Barcelona.
“It’s impossible to say what will happen with Dembele and [maybe] once he will have a normal full-time season with Barcelona or any other club.
“On Raphinha, I saw him playing for Rennes, I saw him playing for Leeds with a little bit more consistency.
“He’s a pure talent, he’s somebody I have doubts about, still the same question marks that I have for Dembele. The consistency of performances.”

    Nou development
Barcelona are odds-on favourites to sign Leeds winger Raphinha.
That’s according to bookmakers Sky Bet, who’ve priced the Spanish heavyweights at 1/2 to clinch the Brazilian’s signature.
Chelsea looked certain to secure his services having agreed a £55m deal plus add-ons with Leeds.
But he’s now drifted out to 13/8 to arrive at Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.
A stay at Leeds is available at 18/1, with Arsenal and Newcastle offered at 20/1 and 25/1 respectively.
Manchester United are major outsiders, coming in at 40/1.

Why Chelsea missed out on Richarlison
Chelsea missed out on Tottenham new-boy Richarlison despite making a last-ditch bid.
Prior to his move to Spurs, the Brazilian was among the Blues’ shortlist of potential Romelu Lukaku replacements.
When Tottenham accelerated their interest this week, Chelsea made an attempt to gazump them.
According to the Metro, the West Londoners’ surge in interest prompted Spurs to up their bid.
The Lilywhites offered Everton £50million plus £10m in add-ons, with Blues owner Todd Boehly unwilling to match.

    Going Ney-where
Neymar has reportedly activated a clause in his contract to extend his stay at Paris Saint-Germain until 2027.
The Brazilian, 30, most recently put pen to paper on a five-year extension in 2021.
But he has now activated his annual extension option, which means his deal will stretch until 2027, according to Sport.
That means Neymar is set to earn £155million more from PSG with the forward being paid £31m a year.
According to Sky Sports, PSG are looking for a buyer to take Neymar off their hands with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi looking to move away from their high-earner model.
His £600k-a-week wages are putting potential suitors off, however.
Man Utd were joined by Chelsea as contenders for Neymar’s signature with Thomas Tuchel potentially playing a key role in the deal.
The pair worked together at PSG and under Tuchel’s tenure, Neymar scored 51 goals and assisted 32 in just 67 appearances.
Blues centre-back Thiago Silva is also keen to reunite with his friend and Brazil team-mate Neymar at Stamford Bridge.
He said: “He has to go to Chelsea. If it happens, it will be for the best. He needs no comments. And on top of that, he’s a super friend.
“So far, I don’t know anything, but I hope it comes to fruition.”

    Live in the Pres-ent
Chelsea target Presnel Kimpembe admitted it was a “key moment” for him in his career.
He said: “Everyone knows the love I have for PSG, I think it’s mutual.
“I am coming to a key moment in my career, my next contract will be very important.
“I’m waiting to meet the new sports management to discuss the club’s future project. I think we will have to discuss things fairly quickly.”

    Prem king
Man City and Liverpool are favourites to be crowned 2022-23 Premier League champions.
That’s according to bookmakers Betfair, who are predicting another two-horse race with Pep Guardiola’s Citizens available at 8/13 and Liverpool at 12/5.
Liverpool, who start against promoted Fulham, are next at 12/5 having missed out by a single point last term.
Tottenham are now considered third-favourites at 14/1 after a flurry of incomings.
Antonio Conte’s side have signed Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster to join Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, who arrived in January.
They are ahead of London rivals Chelsea (16/1) who have seen Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave the club. The futures of Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta are also in doubt, while Barcelona are now favourites to sign Raphinha.
Manchester United are 25/1 to clinch the title during Erik ten Hag’s debut campaign, ahead of Arsenal (40/1) and Newcastle (100/1).

    Jong time coming
Chelsea watching transfer developments with Frenkie de Jong.
Manchester United still favourites to sign the Barcelona midfielder but he has admirers at Chelsea, according to The Guardian.
Meanwhile, deals for Nathan Ake and Raheem Sterling said to be “progressing” for the Blues.

    Afternoon De Ligt
Chelsea have emerged as the odds on favourites to sign the Juventus centre back Matthijs de Ligt.
The Netherlands international has been linked with a move away from Italy and Sky Bet are pricing a move to Stamford Bridge at 8/11.
Chelsea are desperate to sign a central defender or two this summer following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
Erik ten Hag was the Ajax manager when de Ligt helped the Dutch side to the semi-finals of the Champions League, and made the defender the club’s youngest ever captain at 18 years old.
The Dutch manager has taken over at Manchester United this summer, who also had some difficulties in the centre-back department last season.
Naturally, there have been rumours of ten Hag and de Ligt linking up again, with Sky Bet pricing the move at 8/1.

    Pep talk
Pep Guardiola understands when players decide to leave in search of regular game time.
Manchester City forwards Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus are expected to be sold this summer.
And they could be followed by defensive duo Nathan Ake and Oleksandr Zinchenko, while midfielder Bernardo Silva would like a move to Spain.
City boss Guardiola said: “The most complicated thing to manage in a team is the players who do not play and to keep them happy.
“There’s no solution — that’s why good players leave their teams, because they want to play.
“I cannot retain a player who does not play just because he has a contract.
“I told my players I want to see them happy. We’ve known each other a long time and if anyone is unhappy, they have to leave.”
Jesus, 25, is poised to join Arsenal for £45million after fearing his chances would be limited by the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
Sterling, 27, has similar concerns and is wanted by Chelsea, who have also enquired about Ake and Zinchenko.

    Tuch of magic
Chelsea could deploy a permanent shift in their formation ahead of the upcoming season.
Significantly, Tuchel played with a back four at both sides – albeit in different shapes.
With PSG, he opted for an attacking 4-2-4 system thanks to the prowess of stars including Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Should Tuchel land his top targets, the wide-forward areas would be perfect for Raheem Sterling and Raphinha.
Kai Havertz could then operate in a free attacking role while Armanda Broja does all the running up top.
A lively midfield duo of workhorses N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount would keep the ball ticking over while providing adequate support for the backline.
And in defence, Reece James and Ben Chilwell would get the opportunity to push high and wide as attacking full-backs.
Meanwhile, Nathan Ake and Matthijs de Ligt are Tuchel’s top choices in the middle.
Fast, strong and technical, the Dutch duo would be more than capable of protecting goalie Edouard Mendy while also building up play from the back.
But should Tuchel feel the Premier League is not suitable for such a free-flowing formation, he could always opt for the 4-3-3 system he used at Dortmund.
With more or less the same side, one change would see a forward replaced by an extra midfielder.
Conor Gallagher would be the ideal man to slot in alongside Mount, leaving Kante to push up from a deeper position.

    Chelsea ‘target PSG defender’
Chelsea are reportedly targeting Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe.
The Blues were considering a move for Kimpembe, 26, in both the past two transfer windows.
And GOAL reports that “interest from Chelsea still exists” over Kimpembe.
It seems they are keen again after having a pair of centre-backs exit Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel has lost Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid and released Andreas Christensen, who is on the verge of joining Barcelona.

    Raphinha tells agent ‘block Chelsea’
Leeds ace Raphinha has delivered Chelsea a huge blow by telling his agent to block any further contact from the club amid interest from Barcelona, reports claim.
The Blues were in pole position to land Raphinha after they seemingly stole him from Arsenal’s clutches.
But the winger has done a u-turn by demanding he representatives shut down Chelsea’s advances as he prefers a move to Barca, according to Sport.
And he’s prepared to wait patiently until the Catalan giants show their hand, it was added.

    Get the Bill
Billy Gilmour has been periodically linked with a loan move to his old club Rangers – but former Chelsea star Pat Nevin believes he would be perfect for rivals Celtic.
Former Blues winger Pat Nevin believes the 21-year-old is almost the finished article as a player but must avoid going on loan to a team battling relegation, like Norwich were during the last campaign.
It’s well-known that Gilmour’s mum in particular is a huge Gers fan and she cheekily refused to touch the green part of the Norwich scarf when he signed for them last year.
Speaking to BoyleSports, exclusively for the Scottish Sun, Nevin said: “I know Billy a bit and his family and yeah Rangers would suit his style and so would Celtic.
“Knowing his family though, the Celtic one is unlikely.
“He’s different class Billy, he’s a super player. But he needs to be playing for a team who plays good football which is suited to him. I think Celtic and Rangers style would work for him, but because of his family, it wouldn’t be Celtic for him.”

    Fitness first
Billy Gilmour has been getting ready for his Chelsea pre-season – by training with a Scottish junior outfit.
The 21-year-old Ayrshireman is back at the family home in Ardrossan for the summer and he’s keeping himself in trim by attending training with Glenafton.
The West of Scotland Premier League side shared an image on their social channels of Gilmour clad in a Glenafton top with manager Ryan Stevenson, himself a former Chelsea youngster.
Gilmour, who spent last season at Norwich, has been linked with a loan move to Everton from Chelsea this season.
He has been spotted at Loch Park in the past cheering on old pals – while his younger brother Harvey has signed his first pro deal with Kilmarnock.
A spokesperson wrote: “Earlier tonight, we were delighted to welcome Champions League winner, Chelsea player and Scotland internationalist Billy Gilmour to our second session of pre season training.
“This session was geared towards raising the fitness levels of the players for the upcoming season, and we hope the fitness work will be of great assistance to our players and Billy before he returns shortly to Chelsea to start their pre-season preparations.
“Billy is a regular at our games whenever he is back in Scotland and everyone at the club would like to wish Billy all the best for the upcoming season with Chelsea.”

    Eagle eyed
Newcastle are frontrunners in the congested battle to sign Conor Gallagher.
That’s according to Sky Bet, who’ve installed Eddie Howe’s side at 4/1 to clinch the midfielder’s signature this summer.
However, there’s no shortage of competition from the Premier League.
Everton are second in the betting market, while Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and West Ham are also in contention.
Gallagher has gone from strength to strength at Selhurst Park this season.
The 22-year-old scored eight goals and provided five assists in 39 appearances in all competitions last season.
His exploits earned him a first call up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad in November, and has earned four caps since then.
Gallagher has returned to Stamford Bridge following the expiration of his loan spell at Crystal Palace.
But regular first-team football looks unlikely given the competition from international trio Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic.
Chelsea could therefore decide to cash in, with some reporting that his price tag could be upwards of £60million.

    Cup for it
The FA has announced that replays will return to the FA Cup up to the fourth round.
Replays were scrapped from the third round onwards in last season’s competition due to worries over fixture congestion.
Several matches were postponed around the new year period when the third round was scheduled to take place.
So to prevent fixture congestion the FA removed replays in both the third and fourth rounds.
Replays were also scrapped for the 2020-21 campaign to relieve similar fears after the start of the season was delayed due to the pandemic.
But now replays will be reintroduced to ties including qualifiers and all the way up to the fourth round.

    Luk who is here
Romelu Lukaku was mobbed by fans as he completed his medical on Wednesday.
Speaking after his move was confirmed, he said: “My family and I were so happy here thanks to the people, the fans and my team-mates.
“From the first day I arrived here, everyone helped me settle in. I’m very happy.
“I kept my home here when I went to England, so that means something. I’m pleased to be back and now I can’t wait to get out there with my team-mates.
“It’s an amazing feeling. What we achieved here a year ago was fantastic. That goes for the team, the fans and also me personally.
“Inter have given me so much and I hope to do even better than last time. It’s now time to work hard as a squad and hopefully do even better than before.”

    Hak off
AC Milan are reportedly in talks with Chelsea about snapping up Hakim Ziyech on a season-long loan deal.
The 29-year-old, who still has three years left on his contract, will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge after being deemed surplus to requirements.
Despite chipping in with eight goals and six assists in 44 games last campaign, the Morocco international started just 14 times in the Premier League.
His role in West London would be even more limited next term should the Blues wrap up the £60million signing of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.
And the ex-Ajax star, who can play as a winger or attacking midfielder, is now keen to leave Chelsea in search of regular first team football.
It was claimed last week Ziyech had handed in a transfer request in his bid to link up with Milan.

    Do no Ron
Cristiano Ronaldo should ignore transfer interest to stay at Manchester United this summer, claims former striker Louis Saha.
When speaking to BonusCodeBets, he said: “It could go both ways, no one can guarantee anything apart from Cristiano. He’s the only one to answer that.
“It wouldn’t be the right move for Man United to let him go because he’s such a big asset.
“I can definitely see him continuing to keep doing what he’s doing best, which is scoring goals and helping his club get back to where it belongs.
“He can still play a part under Ten Hag, not only by scoring goals, but with his stature.
“I’m sure the new manager will want to implement some new rules and new standards that fit with Ronaldo. Maybe not so much on the pressing side, but his work ethic and his desire to always be accountable.
“Performance-wise, Ronaldo is up there with the best, he’ll drive the players that need confidence, like Rashford.
“It’s a new manager, new rules, new atmosphere and I’m very excited.”

    Chelsea starlet signs extension
Chelsea youngster Ethan Wady signed a one-year extension with the club before being offloaded to Woking on loan.
Wady, 20, has joined the non-league side but first put pen to paper on a new contract with the Blues until 2023.
This marks the goalkeeper’s fifth loan stint ever since his move to the club’s esteemed academy in 2018.

    Nantes confirm Sissoko transfer
Moussa Sissoko has joined Nantes following Watford’s Premier League relegation.
Sissoko has signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 outfit who have paid £1.8million to the Hornets.
The French club shared a video on their personal website of the midfielder’s journey back to France, which ends with him wearing the team’s official kit.
Nantes released the following statement: “FC Nantes and Watford Football Club (England, EFL Championship) have reached an agreement for the transfer of Moussa Sissoko (32).
“The midfielder has signed up for two seasons in favor of the Yellow and Green, thus linking him to the Club des Bords de l’Erdre until 2024.”
    AC Milan hold Ziyech talks
AC Milan are reportedly in talks with Chelsea as they look to snap up Hakim Ziyech on a season-long loan deal.
The 29-year-old, who still has three years left on his contract, will be allowed to depart Stamford Bridge after being deemed as surplus to requirements.
espite chipping in with eight goals and six assists in 44 games last campaign, the Morocco international started just 14 times in the Premier League.
His role in West London would be even more limited next term should the Blues wrap up the £60million signing of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.
And the ex-Ajax star, who can play as a winger or attacking midfielder, is now keen to leave Chelsea in search of regular first team football.
    Chelsea ‘fail to land Kounde’
Chelsea representatives’ trip to Sevilla to land Jules Kounde has failed, reports claim.
The Blues sent three negotiators to the Spanish city to has out a deal for the defender.
But the trio have returned to London empty handed after failing to meet Sevilla’s demands, according to El Chiringuito journalist Marcos Benito.
He claims Sevilla wanted 60million euros for Kounde, plus 10m in variables.
However, the talks concluded as the Blues contingent couldn’t agree on the figure, it was added.
    Why Chelsea flogged Lukaku
Chelsea were keen to offload Romelu Lukaku to avoid squad disharmony – even if their pockets took a hit.
Lukaku caused problems at Man United when he tried to force a move away in 2019.
His actions earned him a two weeks wage fine, and training away from the first team.
And the Blues didn’t want a repeat scenario ahead of their pre-season trip to the US, according to ESPN.
Which is why they chose to flog the striker, the report added.

    Raphinha blocks Chelsea
Leeds star Raphinha has asked his agent Deco to block any further advances from Chelsea.
According to Sport, the Brazil international is not keen on moving to the Blues and is prepared to wait for Barca to come calling.
The winger has reportedly asked Deco to “stop’ negotiations with Chelsea in order to ‘prioritise” a move to the Nou Camp.
Stamford Bridge chiefs have been left flummoxed by the 25-year-old’s stance against joining them as they did not expect him to refuse a move to west London
    Ronaldo’s next destinations
Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo will certainly not be short of suitors if he leaves in the summer.
According to The Times, Bayern Munich and Premier League rivals Chelsea could try and take him if he departs from Old Trafford.
New Blues owner Todd Boehly met the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s agents Gestifute last month.
Bayern, on the other hand, would first like to wait and see what transpires with their own wantaway superstar Robert Lewandowski, as they have already signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool.
A return to the Serie A, where he enjoying a successful stint with Juventus, is also a possibility
    More reasons to go
Manchester United superstar and Chelsea target Cristiano Ronaldo has informed the club he would like to leave if a suitable offer arrives.
According to The Times, it’s not just professional reasons, like playing in the Champions League, that led Ronaldo that decision.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also stated there are personal reasons behind this.
That is because the forward’s young family has been dealing with a difficult period
    More on Ronaldo
Manchester United superstar and Chelsea target Cristiano Ronaldo believes he has “three or four years” left at the highest level and would like to spend them at a Champions League club.
That is according to The Times, who claim Ronaldo no longer views his future at United following last season’s state of disrepair.
And according to his close friends, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s affection and respect for the Red Devils fans remains as strong as ever.
The forward has been part of 19 consecutive Champions League seasons since leaving Sporting Lisbon for English football in the summer of 2003
    Ronaldo wants out
Manchester United superstar and reported Chelsea target Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave the club if a suitable offer arrives in the summer.
That is according to The Times, who claim Ronaldo wants out of United because he wants to play in the Champions League.
The Red Devils missed out on Europe’s top competition after finishing sixth and will instead be in the Europa League.
That poses as a hammer blow for new boss Erik ten Hag, who is looking to turn things around at Old Trafford
    Sterling sensible for Tuchel
There is no doubt that Sterling is an upgrade for Chelsea.
Pulisic is good, but Sterling is better and if Chelsea want to challenge for the title then they need players that are better.
Does him leaving weaken Man City? Not so much.
But does Sterling arriving at the Bridge potentially move Chelsea nearer Liverpool and the champions and further away from United, Arsenal and Spurs? 100 per cent.
It’ll be expensive but it’s also very, very sensible – a bit like sending Lukaku back to Inter.
Sterling move to be resolved ‘in the coming days’
According to the Daily Mail, a deal is set to be struck “in the coming days” which will see Sterling make the switch to Chelsea.
The England international, 27, looks on course to pen a four-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
He has spoken with Blues chief Thomas Tuchel – and those conversations have only added to Sterling’s desire to leave City for West London.
    Chelsea missed out on Richarlison
Chelsea missed out on Tottenham new-boy Richarlison despite making a last-ditch bid.
Prior to his move to Spurs, the Brazilian was among the Blues’ shortlist of potential Romelu Lukaku replacements.
When Tottenham accelerated their interest this week, Chelsea made an attempt to gazump them.
According to the Metro, the West Londoners’ surge in interest prompted Spurs to up their bid.
The Lilywhites offered Everton £50million plus £10m in add-ons, with Blues owner Todd Boehly unwilling to match.
Highest-paid player at every Premier League club
Mohamed Salah’s new contract at Liverpool has doubled his wages, making him one of the highest earning Premier League players.
The new deal, which was announced on Friday, ended months of speculation regarding the forward’s future, with his previous deal due to expire in the summer of 2023.
His new £400,000 deal makes him the Premier League’s joint-second highest paid player.
How do you feel about your club’s highest paid player?
N’Golo Kante is on £290k-a-week. Worth every penny I reckon…

Sterling would create chances for Havertz
While Sterling is a threat in terms of his dribbling and shooting in the final third he is also capable of creating chances for teammates.
Given the danger that he poses to the opposition team when he is in possession of the ball, we tend to see Sterling attract opposition defenders towards him.
This, in turn, creates space that teammates can take advantage of in the final third or penalty area.
Sterling has perfected the art of driving to the touchline inside the area and cutting the ball back across goal for a tap in.
This has been a strong source of goals in recent years for City and with Sterling looking like he will move to Chelsea, the same positioning in the channels could well bring the same rewards.

We are likely to see the talented Havertz, in particular, get plenty of chances created from the movement, positioning and creativity that Sterling will bring to the side.
He has developed over his time at Man City into a more complete forward who is capable of creating and scoring equally.
    Raheem the dream for Chelsea
When Sterling made his move from Liverpool to Manchester City in 2015 he was considered a strong ball carrier who was direct in his approach but who lacked a genuine and consistent goal threat.
Fast forward seven years and we see a much more complete attacking player who has provided a consistent goal threat at club and international level.
Sterling tends to play either from the left side of the attack or through the middle now.
But it is likely that Chelsea would be looking for him to play on the left with Kai Havertz established now as their first-choice central striker.

Sterling has hugely improved his decision-making over the course of his time being coached by Pep Guardiola and he is now a real threat in the attacking third.
Positionally, Sterling tends to prefer to pick the ball up in the channels from where he can look to take the ball in a variety of directions.
When isolated against a defender Sterling is a threat to attack on the inside or the outside.
    Sterling an upgrade for Blues
Sterling would be an upgrade for Chelsea in the forward positions.
Towards the end of last season, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel used the American international Christian Pulisic on the left side of the attack.
While Pulisic is a talented winger, Sterling is a more well-rounded and decisive attacking player.

Chelsea keen on Sterling and City team-mates
SunSport analysed why Sterling’s good goalscoring record, his creativity for the likes of Kai Havertz and his ability to be fluid in the attacking system would make him the ideal signing for Chelsea.
The Daily Mail report adds Chelsea are also keen on Nathan Ake and Oleksandr Zinchenko from the Etihad.
The pair would provide reinforcements at the back after some high-profile departures this summer.
Left-footed Ake was on the books with Chelsea for six years but joined Bournemouth in 2017 after a successful loan.
However, it is unlikely Pep Guardiola and his City chiefs would allow a rival club to sign three of their players in the same transfer window.
    Chelsea ‘closing in’ on Sterling
Chelsea are closing in on the £45million transfer of Manchester City ace Raheem Sterling, according to reports.
It is understood the two clubs remain in negotiations and talks have accelerated this week.
    Tuchel targeting Kimbempe
Chelsea are reportedly targeting Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe.
The Blues were considering a move for £34million-rated Kimpembe, 26, in both the past two transfer windows.

Tuchel managed Kimpembe during his time as PSG boss so he will trust the star to step in.
Chelsea told to forget Raphinha and Dembele
Barcelona lead the race for Raphinha
Barcelona now “lead the race” for Raphinha after agreeing a £50million deal which will see the Brazilian winger earn £100-a-week.
That’s according to LeedsLive, who claim the Spanish club have reportedly agreed a deal with Leeds that “matches the amount” of Chelsea’s offer.
    Blues favourites for De Ligt
Naturally, there have been rumours of ten Hag and de Ligt linking up again, with Sky Bet pricing the move at 8/1.
    Eyeing up Frenkie
Chelsea are watching transfer developments with Frenkie de Jong.
Manchester United are still favourites to sign the Barcelona midfielder but he has admirers at Stamford Bridge, according to The Guardian.
Meanwhile, deals for Nathan Ake and Raheem Sterling said to be “progressing” for the Blues.
Sterling move to be resolved ‘in the coming days’
According to the Daily Mail, a deal is set to be struck “in the coming days” which will see Sterling make the switch to West London.
The England international, 27, looks on course to pen a four-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
He has spoken with Blues chief Thomas Tuchel – and those conversations have only added to Sterling’s desire to leave City for Chelsea.
    Chelsea ‘closing in’ on Sterling
Chelsea are closing in on the £45million transfer of Manchester City ace Raheem Sterling, according to reports.
It is understood the two clubs remain in negotiations and talks have accelerated this week.
    Good morning Chelsea fans
Thomas Tuchel missed out on Tottenham new-boy Richarlison despite making a last-ditch bid.
Prior to his move to Spurs the Brazilian was among the Blues’ shortlist of potential Romelu Lukaku replacements.
Earlier in the week, Chelsea thought they’d beaten Arsenal to the signing of Leeds ace Raphinha.
Richarlison’s Brazil team-mate, however, is still holding out for a move to cash-strapped Barcelona.
Chelsea will now turn their attentions fully towards Manchester City ace Raheem Sterling.
The England star has one year remaining on his contract at the Etihad, with Blues chiefs believing that he is attainable this summer.

    Tielemans ‘should play for Arsenal’
It’s shocking Arsenal haven’t made a formal move for Leicester ace Youri Tielemans, according to Steve Nicol.
Nicol reckons Tielemans has outgrown the Foxes, and would make a ideal midfield partnership with Gunners star Thomas Partey in the place of Granit Xhaka.
Speaking to ESPN, he said: “I am surprised someone like Arsenal haven’t gone in to sign him. I think he ends up staying at Leicester City. I think he’s better than Leicester, to be honest.
“I think Arsenal should have gone and signed this guy. Granit Xhaka is a good Premier League player, but I don’t think he is good enough to push Arsenal into the top four or certainly challenge for any major competition.
“I think Tielemans and Thomas Partey would be a great partnership in the middle of the park. So, I am surprised there hasn’t been more talk of Tielemans, especially from an Arsenal point of view.”
Man United will hope Arsenal don’t take heed of Nicol’s advice as they also want the Belgium international.

    Nou development
Barcelona are odds-on favourites to sign Leeds winger Raphinha.
That’s according to bookmakers Sky Bet, who’ve priced the Spanish heavyweights at 1/2 to clinch the Brazilian’s signature.

Manchester United are major outsiders, coming in at 40/1.

    Parlour makes Martinez wish
Ray Parlour has admitted that he wants Arsenal to sign Lisandro Martinez.
He said to talkSPORT: “I know they are in for him from Ajax. I am looking down the spine of the team and I think that’s where they might strengthen.
“As you mentioned, Tielemans is a really good ball-player. They have got [Thomas] Partey, who had his injury problems last season.
“He missed quite a lot of games. You have got [Albert Sambi] Lokonga, who is going to get better and he’s still young.
“But I think that’s the area. [Granit] Xhaka is getting that little bit older. I think that’s the area they really need to look at.
“Get balls through the line and Tielemans would be ideal. Let’s hope, with my Arsenal hat on, they can somehow get him over the line, and in the ideal world, get everyone signed up by the (pre-season) tour.”

    Gunner be interesting
New signing Fabio Vieira now faces a race against time to prepare for the Gunners’ upcoming pre-season tour in the United States.
All of Arsenal’s new signings are expected to make their club debut’s before the season starts next month.
Arteta has already confirmed that 19-year-old Marquinhos will be given his chance to shine following his £3m transfer from Sao Paulo.
Matt Turner is also set to appear between the sticks upon his return to America.
And new No.9 Gabriel Jesus is expected to alternate with Eddie Nketiah in attack.

    Not so fab
Arsenal new boy Fabio Vieira has picked up an injury BEFORE the club’s pre-season tour.
Vieira, 22, joined the North London side last month in a deal worth £34million.
Upon his arrival, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hailed him as a “special” player that is set to bolster his team’s attack.
He said: “I am very excited that we have identified and signed such a special talent.
“Fabio is a very creative player that will bring high quality and versatility to our attacking play.”
However, the midfielder has already hit a stumbling block before even putting on the red shirt.
A picture posted on Instagram clearly shows his left ankle in a protective boot, indicating that he has already sustained an injury.
But according to football journalist James Benge, it is just a minor foot issue.

    On the Lis-t
Man Utd are trying to reach an agreement with Ajax for Arsenal target Lisandro Martinez.
Meanwhile, United’s proposed offer to Tyrell Malacia includes a four-year contract with the option of a 5th.
And according to The Athletic, his medical may happen this weekend.

    Ben White is ‘overrated’
Arsenal’s defence has been blasted by Gabby Agbonlahor who reckons Ben White is over-rated.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “Arsenal’s defence is nowhere near good enough to get top-four.
“For me, Ben White is very overrated, I watched him against Newcastle towards the end of the season and he was absolutely dreadful.
“He lacks pace, he lacks aggression. Yes, he’s good on the ball but he’s not a defensive midfielder, he’s a centre-half.”

Wilshere’s plans if Spurs win title
Jack Wilshere has revealed he’ll move to Australia if Tottenham ever win the league.
Tottenham have been making waves in transfer market this summer.
Signing the likes of Everton ace Richarlison has shown the club’s ambition.
And if Spurs’ shrewd business moves lead to a Prem title, Wilshere won’t be around to witness it.
He revealed to talkSPORT: “I’m moving to Australia if that ever happens!”

    Arsenal offload Swedish starlet
Arsenal starlet Nikolaj Moller has returned to Dutch outfit FC Den Bosch on loan after his spell last season.
The 19-year-old striker spent the second half of the 2021-22 campaign with the second division side.
He proved to be a key player for Jack de Gier’s men as he helped the Blue White Dragons finish mid-table.
In total he featured in 11 Ereste Divisie matches – chipping in with two goals and a solitary assist.
And Arsenal have decided to send the Sweden youth international back on loan to the club to continue his development.
A statement from the Gunners read: “We wish Nikolaj all the best at FC Den Bosch and look forward to seeing his development in the upcoming season.”

    Gift of the Gab
Gabriel Jesus was spotted wearing his new Arsenal kit and walking around the Emirates in a video leaked online earlier this week.
The clip shows the Brazil international, with what appears to be the club’s media team, while dressed in the full kit.
The 25-year-old was wearing the No9 shirt – possibly bringing the guessing game over his new number to an end.
This comes after the Brazilian was pictured in a SunSport exclusive hugging Arsenal chief Edu as he arrived for his medical.

    Matt’s your lot
Stade Velodrome has called it quits at Marseille after being left frustrated by the club’s lack of intent in the transfer market.
The announcement of his exit came just hours before Marseille confirmed the acquisition of Matteo Guendouzi.
It has been claimed that Sampaoli was left disappointed after the French side failed to sign Arsenal centre-back William Saliba, who has returned to the Emirates after his loan.
And he is said to have been left outraged by Boubacar Kamara joining Aston Villa on a free transfer.
He was also of the belief that Belgium international Axel Witsel should have been snapped up.
But Marseille dithered on the deal, with the midfielder now poised to link up with Atletico Madrid.

    Done deal
Matteo Guendouzi has completed his permanent switch to Marseille from Arsenal following his stunning loan spell last season.
But he will be playing for a new manager after Argentine boss Jorge Sampaoli sensationally quit at the Stade Velodrome.
Guendouzi enjoyed a brilliant 2021-22 campaign with the French side as he helped the club finish second in Ligue 1.
He proved to be a key player under Sampaoli where he chipped in with five goals and 14 assists in 56 games in all competitions.
Marseille are understood to have paid around £9million to turn his temporary stay into a permanent switch.
Announcing his departure, a Gunners statement read: “Everyone at Arsenal thanks Matteo for his contribution during his time with us and wish him all the best in this next chapter of his career.”

    Cup for it
The FA has announced that replays will return to the FA Cup up to the fourth round.

    Poor Rich
Richarlison would not get into Arsenal’s starting XI, claims their former midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The Everton star is set to join Tottenham in a £50million deal, rising to £60m with add-ons.
Richarlison, 25, has been acquired to bolster Spurs’ already strong attack, but Wilshere is nonplussed at his rivals’ swoop.
Appearing on talkSPORT, the 30-year-old said: “I think he improves the squad, definitely… he gives them something different.
    “I wouldn’t say I’m gutted.
“He’s 25, so not young. There comes a point where you’re going to have to turn that potential into something but to be fair if any one can do it, it’s Antonio Conte.
“I wouldn’t say I’m devastated as an Arsenal fan but he could be one to watch, he could be really good.”
Further quizzed about whether he’d have the Brazilian at the Emirates, Wilshere added: “Yeah but I don’t think he gets in the XI.
“He’d definitely challenge for it and be a good part of the squad but I don’t think he gets in the XI.”

    Kev to be done
Kevin Campbell insists his former club Arsenal need to sign another midfielder and striker after sealing Gabriel Jesus.
The Gunners are set to announce Jesus imminently after reaching a reported £45million deal with Manchester City.
Campbell told talkSPORT: “They’ve got to fix the midfield, it needs more goals, it needs more creativity, hence Tielemans.
“I still think Arsenal need an alternative striker, a big striker, someone who, when teams bank up and it’s not going so well, someone who you could fire crosses in, and he can get on the end of it.
“I think Arsenal have missed that change of alternative in the set up and the flexibility of Jesus as well means he could start as a nine or he can play wide, he’s comfortable anywhere.”

    Moller delight
Arsenal starlet Nikolaj Moller has returned to Dutch outfit FC Den Bosch on loan after his spell last season.
The 19-year-old striker spent the second half of the 2021-22 campaign with the second division side.

A statement from the Gunners read: “We wish Nikolaj all the best at FC Den Bosch and look forward to seeing his development in the upcoming season.”

    Merseille ‘confirm Guendouzi transfer’
Marseille seem to have confirmed the permanent signing Matteo Guendouzi including the midfielder in a promotional video.
Guendouzi was on loan with Marseille last season, and the Ligue 1 side have added him to a clip promoting their kit for next season.
But Arsenal are yet to confirm his departure despite Marseille’s antics.
Although Guendozi has admitted he wants to join the French club.

    PSG sign Wolves flop Vitinha
PSG have announced the signing of former Wolves flop Vitinha from Porto.
The midfielder poses as PSG’s first summer transfer following a reported £35million deal with the Portuguese giants.
The Portugal international signed a five-year deal with the Parisians after helping Porto win the title last season following a disappointing spell at Wolves.
The news will come as a bitter blow to Arsenal who’s bid for Vitinha was rejected.
    Hazard set for career revival
Carlo Ancelotti is hoping to revive Eden Hazard’s Real Madrid career by playing him as a false nine, according to reports.
The Belgian joined Los Blancos in 2019 for £130million but injuries have hampered his time at the Bernabeu.
Hazard has missed a whopping 57 games mainly due to muscle injuries.
Despite his absence, Hazard has two LaLiga titles and a Champions League winners medal to his name.
And according to AS, boss Ancelotti will try and revive Hazard’s Real career with a change of position.

    Wilshere makes Spurs admission
Arsenal legend Jack Wilshere admits Tottenham have done some good business by recruiting Richarlison.
He said to talkSPORT: “I think he [Richarlison] improves the squad, definitely… he gives them something different. I wouldn’t say I’m gutted.
“He’s 25, so not young. There comes a point where you’re going to have to turn that potential into something but to be fair if any one can do it, it’s Antonio Conte.

Three starlets are set to follow Alexandre Lacazette out the Arsenal exit.
Lacazette officially departed from the Gunners this week to join Lyon.
And the North Londoners have confirmed trio Jonathan Dinzeyi, Joel Lopes and Jordan McEneff have failed to make the cut.

However the Red Devils were concerned that the 24-year-old Martinez would be heading for North London unless they made their interest known quickly.
Martinez has set his heart on a move to the Premier League – although the Dutch giants will demand around £43m to think about letting him leave.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku is back in Italy ahead of his return to Inter Milan and has proudly posed with a club scarf.
The 29-year-old will link up with the San Siro outfit for a second time just a year after he re-joined Chelsea in a club-record £97.5million deal.
But he failed to hit the heights expected of him at Stamford Bridge, with Thomas Tuchel deeming him surplus to requirements.
And Inter have been quick to secure his services with the Serie A giants agreeing a £6.9m season-long loan deal with the Blues.
    More on Martinez
Arsenal’s opening bid of £26m was rejected – as was their second which was £8m higher.
Their latest offer is a similar downpayment but with more add-ons – so that may not be enough to tempt Ajax to do business.
They are now likely to wait to see if a firm offer comes in for Lisandro Martinez from United.
He had previously indicated he was happy to join Arsenal but the prospect of re-uniting with his former boss Ten Hag at Old Trafford may change his mind.
It would be a blow for Mikel Arteta who has also seen Chelsea move in for another of his key targets, Raphinha, in recent days.
Spanish giants Barcelona are also in the race for the Brazilian who is rated at around £60m by his current club Leeds.
Meanwhile United are happy with the way their move for Malacia is progressing – despite a late bid from Lyon to turn his head back towards them.
He is expected to move to the North West and provide competition for Luke Shaw next season.

Man Utd are looking to hijack Arsenal’s bid to land Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.

Southampton are considering a move for Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill as Ralph Hasenhuttl looks to continue his youth revolution.
The Saints have already snapped up two young players this summer in Gavin Bazunu – a goalkeeper from Manchester City – and 20-year-old defender Armel Bella-Kotchap, who arrived from German club Vfl Bochum.
And now Hasenhuttl wants to make another raid on Chelsea’s youth ranks.
The south coast side took three players from Cobham last summer with Tino Livramento and Dynel Simeu joining on permanent deals as well as Armando Broja spending last season on loan.
Now Colwill is in Southampton’s sights – with Premier League rivals Leicester City also tracking his progress.
The defender, 19, spent last season on loan with Championship side Huddersfield, who reached the play-off final where they lost to Nottingham Forest.

And according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the West London outfit could announce the signing of the defender next week after his medical.

He tweeted: “Brentford are set to sign Aaron Hickey on permanent deal.

Ben White is ‘overrated’, says Agbonlahor
Arsenal’s defence has been blasted by Gabby Agbonlahor who reckons Ben White is over-rated.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “Arsenal’s defence is nowhere near good enough to get top-four.
“For me, Ben White is very overrated, I watched him against Newcastle towards the end of the season and he was absolutely dreadful.
“He lacks pace, he lacks aggression. Yes, he’s good on the ball but he’s not a defensive midfielder, he’s a centre-half.”

They have got Partey, who had his injury problems last season.
“He missed quite a lot of games. You have got Lokonga, who is going to get better and he’s still young.
“But I think that’s the area. Xhaka is getting that little bit older. I think that’s the area they really need to look at.
“Get balls through the line and Tielemans would be ideal. Let’s hope, with my Arsenal hat on, they can somehow get him over the line, and in the ideal world, get everyone signed up by the pre-season tour.”
But Gunners still in the hunt for Argentina star
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insists Arsenal are “still there” when it comes to signing Lisandro Martinez.
In a boost to the Gunners, the Ajax player wants to join the Premierl League.
Romano tweeted: “Manchester United official proposal for Lisandro Martinez, better than Arsenal’s one but not enough yet. Arsenal are still there.

The Mirror report the Red Devils have lodged a £39m bid, which falls close to the Dutch club’s £43m evaluation.
Ten Hag has identified the defender as United look to fix their leaky defence.
Arsenal ‘should sign’ Tielemens, says Nicol
It’s shocking Arsenal haven’t made a formal move for Leicester ace Youri Tielemans, according to Steve Nicol.
Speaking to ESPN, he said: “I am surprised someone like Arsenal haven’t gone in to sign Tielemens.
“I think Arsenal should have gone and signed this guy.
“Granit Xhaka is a good Premier League player, but I don’t think he is good enough to push Arsenal into the top four or certainly challenge for any major competition.
“I think Tielemans and Thomas Partey would be a great partnership in the middle of the park.
“So, I am surprised there hasn’t been more talk of Tielemans, especially from an Arsenal point of view.”

    Vieira spotted in foot brace
Arsenal new boy Fabio Vieira has picked up an injury BEFORE the club’s pre-season tour.
Vieira, 22, joined the North London side last month in a deal worth £34million.
Upon his arrival, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hailed him as a “special” player that is set to bolster his team’s attack.
However, the midfielder has already hit a stumbling block before even putting on the red shirt.
A picture posted on Instagram clearly shows his left ankle in a protective boot, indicating that he has already sustained an injury.
According to football journalist James Benge, it is just a minor foot issue and he will face a race to be fit for the USA pre-season tour.

    Stay tuned
Gabriel Jesus was spotted wearing his new Arsenal kit yesterday and walking around the Emirates in a video leaked online earlier this week.
The clip shows the Brazil international, with what appears to be the club’s media team, while dressed in the full kit.
The 25-year-old was wearing the No9 shirt – possibly bringing the guessing game over his new number to an end.
Fans are waiting for the official announcement of Jesus’ move to the Gunners from Manchester City and the video suggests it is imminent.

Arsenal send Nikolaj Moller back on loan
Arsenal starlet Nikolaj Moller has returned to Dutch outfit FC Den Bosch on loan after his spell last season.
The 19-year-old striker spent the second half of the 2021-22 campaign with the second division side.
And Arsenal have decided to send the Sweden youth international back on loan to the club to continue his development.
A statement from the Gunners read: “We wish Nikolaj all the best at FC Den Bosch and look forward to seeing his development in the upcoming season.”
Ben White is ‘overrated’, says Agbonlahor
Arsenal’s defence has been blasted by Gabby Agbonlahor who reckons Ben White is over-rated.

    Parlour makes Martinez wish

He said: “I am very excited that we have identified and signed such a special talent.
“Fabio is a very creative player that will bring high quality and versatility to our attacking play.”
However, the midfielder has already hit a stumbling block before even putting on the red shirt.

Man Utd are looking to hijack Arsenal’s bid to land Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.
The Gunners have put in a third offer for the Argentine centre-back – after being told their previous bid of £34million was not enough.
But United have now registered their interest to the Dutch giants and asked to be kept informed of developments.
Erik ten Hag was planning to switch his attention to his forward line now deals for Frenkie de Jong and Tyrrell Malacia have been set up.
However the Red Devils were concerned that the 24-year-old Martinez would be heading for North London unless they made their interest known quickly.
Martinez has set his heart on a move to the Premier League – although the Dutch giants will demand around £43m to think about letting him leave.

    United still want Ruben Neves
Fabrizio Romano has said on The United Stand YouTube channel that Ruben Neves is still on Manchester United’s radar.
“A name I keep hearing around Manchester United is Ruben Neves. He’s a player who’s always [spoken of] around Manchester United since last summer, too.

If so, Feyenoord will receive €15m plus €2m in add-ons for Malacia, Romano stated.

    ICYMI
PSG star Neymar has been informed by club chiefs he is no longer wanted at Parc des Princes, reports suggest.
That is according to RMC Sport, who claim PSG are keen to rebuild without the star forward ahead of this coming season.
The Brazil international has been linked with a summer exodus from Paris this summer with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United showing interest,
United, Chelsea and Newcastle would be the only realistic transfer options for Neymar if he does leave PSG, whom he joined for a world record £200million in 2017.
The Premier League trio are the only clubs with the financial might to meet the Parisians and the striker’s financial demands.

    Man Utd make Bachmann swoop
Manchester United target Daniel Bachmann is the “frontrunner” to become Dean Henderson‘s replacement at Old Trafford, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.
Having seen a move for Newcastle shotstopper Karl Darlow deteriorate, United are now hoping to sign Bachmann.

And he has now added an incredibly detailed back tattoo to his collection.
Lindelof‘s back piece features Roman sculptures having crowns placed on their heads by an emperor-type figure, with detailed globes on either shoulder blade.

    Rab race
Adrien Rabiot wants to leave Juventus to join a Premier League club this summer.
The Telegraph claim Rabiot wants to leave the Serie A heavyweights to join an English club playing Champions League football.
And Juventus have agreed to his requests and will look to offload him for between £13-17million this summer.
Betfair think Chelsea are the frontrunners at odds of 5/2.
Three other Champions League sides in Liverpool (5/1), Manchester City (8/1) and Tottenham (10/1) are next in the betting markets.
Italian publication Calciomercato claim Liverpool are hatching a plan to swap Adrien Rabiot and Naby Keita, who are both 27 with 12 months remaining on their current deals.
There’s a large jump to Europa League duo Manchester United and Arsenal, who are locked together at 20/1.

    Eye of the Hag-er
Erik Ten Hag is close to making Tyrell Malacia his first signing as Manchester United boss and he has liked the defender for some time.
United are reportedly set to hijack Lyon’s move for the Feyenoord star in a £14m deal.
And Ten Hag knows a lot about the left-back from his time as Ajax manager – when he first set eyes on the youngster.
Footage has emerged from a match between Feyenoord and Ajax when Malacia certainly caught the eye.
Ten Hag is seen saying in Dutch: “That kid at left-back is amazing.”
He also tells his assistant Michael Reiziger to take note of Malacia, possibly with a view to signing him in the future.

    Lang jump
Anthony Elanga was inches away from breaking a world record in pre-season training.
The 20-year-old made a 63 inch box jump – just four short of the world record.
The winger recorded a new personal best, just a tad off American record holder Chris Spell.
Elanga shared a video of the monster leap with his followers on Tik Tok.
The topless star worked up a sweat as he prepares for life under new manager Erik ten Hag.
The Sweden international suggested he would welcome some new players too and claimed competition within the squad is “vital for success”.

    Luk at that
Inter Milan fans turned out in force to get a glimpse of the returning Romelu Lukaku.
The ex-Man Utd man arrived in Milan for a medical today after Chelsea agreed a £6.9million fee to ship the 29-year-old out on loan.
And Lukaku grinned broadly as he waved to adoring fans from the window of the Italian Olympic Committee’s headquarters in Milan.
The Chelsea flop waved and gave a thumbs up to the crowd who had defied a warning from Inter Ultras NOT to welcome Lukaku back to the club.
Scorned Curva Nord fanatics urged fans not to “run and drool” after Lukaku following his return.
Instead they claimed he will have to earn their affection back with “humility and sweat”.

    Hey Jude
Liverpool lead of clutch of clubs looking to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham.
That’s according to bookmakers Sky Bet, who’ve priced Jurgen Klopp’s side as 9/4 favourites for his coveted signature.
Champions Manchester City are second in the betting market at 6/1 despite the imminent £42million arrival of Kalvin Phillips.
Further behind at bigger prices are Manchester United and Arsenal, who are available at 16/1 and 20/1 respectively.
Chelsea are offered at 25/1, while Antonio Conte’s Tottenham are the outsiders of the field at 33/1.

    Real Deal
Dortmund have reportedly named next summer’s price for star man Jude Bellingham amid interest from a host of Europe’s elite clubs.
The 19-year-old has racked up 148 professional appearances for Birmingham, Dortmund and England.
And his fine form and maturity in the Bundesliga has alerted a number of clubs.
According to SportBild, Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool are keen on the midfielder.
Elsewhere in Europe, Real Madrid are plotting a move for Bellingham to complete their midfield for the next decade.
A move to the Bernabeu would see Bellingham play alongside fellow teenager Eduardo Camavinga and big money signing Aurelien Tchouameni.

    Super Sadio
Sadio Mane has got straight to work ahead of pre-season with Bayern Munich as he worked out shirtless in Palma de Mallorca.
The 30-year-old left Liverpool after six trophy-laden years in a £35million move to the German champions.
Mane admits wanting a “new challenge” was the reasoning behind his decision to leave the Merseyside club.
He said: “Obviously it is strange – really, really strange – to no longer be a Liverpool player.
“But of course I had a great time, an unbelievable time. We won a lot.
“My life is always (about a) challenge and when it came I said to the club that I want to leave, I want to go somewhere else to see a new challenge.
“It is not anything else, it is just a challenge because for me I want to always be challenging myself to get better and better.”

    Who had worse Luk?
Former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson has compared Chelsea’s signing of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United’s deal with Paul Pogba.
He told Paddy Power: “Yeah, it has gone bad – you could see problems in the Jose Mourinho days. If Jose Mourinho couldn’tget a handle on this guy, then you wonder who else could.
“Look, he’s had some good games but so he should for the money he’s cost Manchester United.
“And it is astonishing when you think of the amount of good appearances compared to the amount they spent on him, it makes the cost feel even more astronomical.
“I think Man United has been a really difficult place to manage and ten Hag as a real job on there. But he’s helped by getting Pogba out the way.
“I read that he was offered £290,000 a week and he didn’t think that was enough – what has the game come to! What a cheek.
“I hope Man united didn’t offer him that sort of money because if he’d have accepted it, it wouldn’t have helped them in the coming season.”

    Not Will-ing
Liverpool are demanding at least £15million for Neco Williams after rejecting an offer from Nottingham Forest.
Sun Sport exclusively revealed on Sunday that Steve Cooper’s newly-promoted side were closing in on the Reds defender and Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves.
The £35million double swoop comes after they nabbed Union Berlin’s Taiwo Awoniyi in a club-record £17.2m move.
However, the Daily Mail now claims that Forest must cough up more if they want to get Williams.
The 21-year-old shone on loan at Fulham in the Championship as he helped them to become champions and return to the Premier League.
Those displays have led to huge interest in the defender with Forest leading the chase.

Man United join ‘Tielemans transfer race’
Man United have reportedly joined Arsenal in the hunt for Youri Tielemans.
The Times claims Leicester’s midfield star, 25, is “of interest” to Erik ten Hag this summer.
And Tielemans features on a shortlist of playmakers the Dutchman is interested in signing.
The Belgium international has been a long-term target for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
But the Gunners now risk seeing their move hijacked – just like Chelsea have done with Leeds’ Raphinha.
    Man United target issued warning
Man United target Anthony has been warned not to go on strike to force a move to Man United.
Reports suggested the Ajax star could be taking the extreme step to ensure the club let him leave after he failed to report back for pre-season training.
But former Ajax boss Aad de Mos dismissed the rumours, but advised Anthony to be aware of his reputation if true.
De Mos told Online Wedden 24: “That doesn’t come from Antony; it comes more from the agents usually.
“I don’t think it’s very wise for his reputation. Ajax is free to ask what they want because he still has a long-term contract.
“He has to be careful with it; it could be a disadvantage to himself because Ten Hag and United could say: we are no longer interested in a player who does that.”
    Ronaldo’s partner stuns in gym-wear
Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodriguez stunned in a figure-hugging top and yoga pants as she took a stroll with her children in Madrid.
The 28-year-old is back in the Spanish capital after spending time in Majorca and Ibiza with friends and family.
Ronaldo, Georgina and the kids stayed in a huge rural retreat at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains.
The villa has its own gym, pool surrounded by palm trees, several hot tubs, a beach volleyball court, a mini-football pitch and is even rumoured to have an ‘underground erotic room’.

    Dortmund ‘set £103m Bellingham fee’
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly slapped a £103m bid on wonderkid Jude Bellingham.
But that will be next summer as the German club plan to retain his services next season.
And Dortmund are expecting offers from Liverpool, Man United, and Real Madrid, according to SportBild.
However, the German club will accept no less than the substantial figure for the 19-year-old, the report added.
    Old Ronaldo training clip resurfaces
A clip has resurfaced taking Manchester United fans on a trip down memory lane during Cristiano Ronaldo’s humble beginnings.
It shows what an influence legendary team-mates like Roy Keane had on his career as he initially struggled to adjust to English football, in the Twitter clip.
The Portuguese superstar is shown losing his man down the left flank as he failed to track back.
Keane quickly notices his young team-mate being caught off guard and is heard yelling, “Come on Cristiano”.
Ronaldo’s blunder led to a goal and the legendary United captain, who is known for his tough demeanor, was not at all happy.
Keane blasted the Real great as he yelled: “Cristiano, come on!”
    Arsenal make third Martinez offer
Arsenal have made a third offer to Ajax for Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez – but they now face a massive battle with Manchester United, CHARLIE WYETT WRITES.
The north London club have improved the financial terms of their second bid of £34million for the centre-back.
But adding extra add-ons is unlikely to tempt Ajax who know that United are set to enter the fight with a first bid.
Ajax believe they are in a strong position and expect to get nearer their £43m asking price.
Martinez, 24, who is just 5ft 9ins tall and can also play at left-back, has indicated that he would be happy to move to Arsenal, whose first bid of £26m was rejected.
But the prospect of working with former boss Erik ten Hag could change his mind.
    Nani to go Down Under
Man United star Nani is poised to become big Down Under … by landing a move to Australian club Melbourne Victory, STEVE GOODMAN WRITES.
The Portugal winger has spent the past six months in Italy with Venezia, and has a year left on his contract.
However the Venice outfit will release Nani, 35, following their relegation from Serie A.
And Aussie reports claim A-League side Victory will snap him up as a marquee signing for the new season.

    S-mart money

AC Milan turn attention to Saliba
Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim Serie A Champions AC Milan are set to turn their attention to Arsenal defender William Saliba this summer – after missing out on Sven Botman, who is set to join Newcastle United.
CM say that Milan will now turn their attention to Saliba – but as previous reports claim, Arsenal will only accept an offer for the five-time France international if ‘unavoidable’.
He has a contract at Arsenal until June 2024.

    Hec of a session
Hector Bellerin was pictured training with Arsenal on Wednesday.
And he knows “first-hand” of interest from Atleti and it is making him rethink his future.
He is “seduced” by the option of playing in the capital but Betis remains his preferred option after his successful 2021-22 campaign in Seville.
The Spain international impressed for his boyhood club where he helped them win the Copa del Rey, as well as finishing fifth.
Bellerin made 32 total appearances and provided five assists from right-back.
He has made no secret of his desire to remain at the Estadio Benito Villamarin after releasing an emotional statement to Betis fans.
But it is believed that Betis could struggle to turn Bellerin’s temporary stay into a permanent switch due to financial reasons.
The defender looks set to depart Arsenal this summer either way, having just one year left on his contract.

    Work of Art
Mikel Arteta appears to be quite the motivator when it comes to managing his Arsenal team.
The Spaniard has plenty of inspiration for his players on the walls at both the Emirates and the club’s London Colney training base.
A sneak peek at Amazon Prime’s All or Nothing: Arsenal was released yesterday, which gave an inside look at the Gunners’ dressing room.
At one point it shows Arteta delivering a rousing speech to his team with pictures of wolves displayed on a screen behind him.
And the decision to use wolves to motivate his players appears to be a nod to the great Arsene Wenger.
The Frenchman is claimed to have once drawn a wolf on the board in the dressing room and telling his players to act like the hungry pack animals in a match his side went on to win.

    Raph news
Raphinha’s agent was spotted at the Nou Camp less than 24 hours after Chelsea appeared to move into pole position to sign the Leeds winger.
The West Londoners dealt a hammer blow to Arsenal’s hopes of signing the Brazilian on Tuesday by tabling a bid north of £55million for his services.
A deal has yet to be reached and talks with the player’s agent – former Barcelona ace Deco – are set to take place later this week.
But Barca could be poised to land the winger after Deco was spotted at the Nou Camp with club chiefs Rafa Yuste, Mateu Alemany, Enric Masip and president Joan Laporta.
Spanish journalist Victor Navvaro captured footage of the group leaving the stadium and shared it on Twitter.

Arsenal urged to sign another striker
Arsenal have been urged to bring in another striker despite signing Gabriel Jesus.
That’s the view of football pundit Noel Whelan who reckons the Gunners need a six-footer to be a menace in the box.
Whelan told Football Insider: “You can never have enough options.
“Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah – these are both players who like to run off the last defender’s shoulder and spend most of their time in and around the box.
“If there’s an opportunity to bring someone in who is six-foot and above – a different type of player, someone who can attack balls into the box – then that could be worthwhile.
“It would give Arsenal that out ball if they are struggling. I’m sure it’s something Mikel Arteta will be looking into.”

    Arsenal ‘miss out on Doucoure’
Arsenal have reportedly lost out to Crystal Palace in the transfer chase for Lens star Cheick Doucoure.
The Guardian claims that it is Palace that are winning the race to sign him after they agreed an initial £18million fee with Lens.
Doucoure is now allegedly set to agree a five-year contract at Selhurst Park after agreeing personal terms.
However, they have returned with an improved bid which could potentially end up being worth over £22m depending on performance related add-ons.
The move will come as a bitter blow to Arsenal, who launched a late move earlier this month, but a major boost for Palace boss Patrick Vieira.

    Ball rolling
Arsenal defender Daniel Ballard is reportedly set to sign for Sunderland after his move to Burnley collapsed.
Ballard, 22, reportedly arrived at Turf Moor for a medical but terms could not be agreed and talks broke down at the last minute.
According to Football Insider, however, the centre-back’s camp moved quickly and he is now set to join the Black Cats.
The same report claims a deal has been agreed between Sunderland and the Gunners.
Ballard has already completed a medical at the Stadium of Light and the agreement will become official within the next 24 hours.
Sunderland manager Alex Neil is looking to boost his squad following their return to the Championship.

    Mad for you
Atletico Madrid are reportedly in talks with Arsenal over a transfer for Hector Bellerin.
Bellerin, 27, spent the season on loan at Real Betis and a move back to La Liga could be on the cards.
ElDesmarque report Atletico are “already negotiating” with the Gunners over the full-back, who has told the North London club of his desire to leave.
Bellerin knows “first-hand” of interest from the Madrid side and it is making him rethink his future.
He is “seduced” by the option of playing in the capital but Betis remains his preferred option after his successful 2021-22 campaign.
The Spain international impressed for his boyhood club where he helped the Seville outfit win the Copa del Rey, as well as finishing fifth.

    Tierney ‘set for Arsenal stay’
Defender Kieran Tierney will remain at Arsenal this summer, despite interest from Man City.
City have been linked with a £50m move for the full-back.
But that rumour has been rubbished by Football Scotland who claim City haven’t made a formal bid for the Scotland star.
And the report adds that Tierney’s camp are confident he will be at The Emirates next season.

    Out of Luc
Lucas Torreira revealed he has NO chance of staying at Arsenal after being brutally told there is no place for him in Mikel Arteta’s side.
Speaking to El Telegrafo, the 2021 LaLiga winner was asked what the chances are of him remaining at Arsenal.
To which he said: “There is no chance. From the beginning they told me that I didn’t have a place.
“So I don’t want to stay either because I suffered a lot, it cost me a lot to adapt and my idea is to go to Italy or Spain.
“What I wanted was to stay at Fiorentina, but it didn’t happen for various reasons, so we’ll look for a new direction.”

    Mo of that
Mohamed Elneny has vowed to rejoin Egyptian club Al Mokawloon when he leaves Arsenal.
Club president Mohsen Salah insisted the defensive midfielder has promised to end his career with the Mountain Wolves.
Salah said: “Players who represented Al Mokawloon are always loyal. It is something you learn here.
“We are proud of Elneny and Salah, who started their careers here.
“Elneny’s visit made us really happy, and it was a good chance for us to give him honorary lifetime membership.
“What made us even happier is that Elneny promised us that he will come back to end his career here with Al Mokawloon.”

    Merson ‘impressed by Arsenal transfers’
Paul Merson reckons Arsenal’s transfer business this summer will see them compete for a top-four spot with Man United and Tottenham next season.
He said to Sky Sports: “I like what Arsenal have done to get that over the line.
“I think they’re in for a good season. There’s a project going on and they’ll be fighting for fourth place with Man United and Tottenham.
“If they can get into the Champions League and have a good cup run – the Europa is winnable – with the squad they’re building they’ve got a chance of getting some silverware this season.”

    Raphinha agent spotted with Barcelona
Raphinha’s agent was spotted meeting with Barcelona chiefs after he orchestrated the Leed ace’s move to Chelsea.
The Blues are poised to complete a £55m transfer for the Brazilian.
But Deco, who represents Raphinha was captured leaving Barcelona’s offices with the club’s hierarchy hours after the deal was finalised.
However, it’s not clear what was discussed in the get-together although Barca have also been strongly linked with the winger.
    Daniel Ballard’s Burnley transfer ‘collapses’
Arsenal ace Daniel Ballard’s move to Burnley has “broken down”, reports suggest.
According to The Athletic, Ballard, 22, arrived at Turf Moor for a medical but terms could not be agreed.
And thus a deal collapsed, which works as a significant blow for new manager Vincent Kompany who was keen on bringing the Gunners’ academy graduate to the relegated Championship outfit.
The centre-back’s impressive loan spells at Blackpool and Millwall as well as his stunning performances with Northern Ireland are what caught Kompany’s eye.
    Torreira reveals price tag
Lucas Torreira doubts he will return to Boca Juniors due to the transfer fee he commands.
Torreira claims he’s worth just under £13m, which makes a potential move to Boca “difficult.”
The midfielder made the admission to El Telegrafo, while ruling out a future with Arsenal.
He said: “Boca is very difficult.
“It was difficult after what happened to my mother and I really wanted to go there, then I had a very good season and I have one year left on my contract with Arsenal.
“Any team that wants me has to buy me, which would be around €15m, so that’s why I see it as difficult, although I never lose hope.
“I feel a lot of love for that club and at some point I would like to play there.”
    Tielemans would be ‘ideal’
Ray Parlour reckons Youri Tielemans is the ideal man to add some steel to Arsenal’s midfield.
Parlour said to talkSPORT: “I’m looking down the spine of the team and I think that’s where they are trying to strengthen.
“Tielemans is a really good ball player they’ve got Partey who had his injury problems last season and missed quite a bulk of the games.
“You got Lokonga who will get better but I think that’s the area. Xhaka is that bit older. That’s the area they really need to look at.
“When you get the ball back you need that quality to get through the lines to Odegaard and Smith Rowe and Martinelli. Tielemans could be ideal.”
    Bellerin ‘seduced by Atletico interest’
Hector Bellerin is reportedly being seduced by the opportunity to join Atletico Madrid this summer.
Bellerin returned to the Gunners from a loan stint with Real Betis who are also keen on signing him.
However, the full-back’s being swayed by Atletico who have waded into the fray for his signature.
The La Liga giants have initiated contact with the Gunners over Bellerin’s availability, according to ElDesmarque.
And Bellerin’s said to be open to the idea of joining Atletico, although he’s holding out for an offer from Betis who’s still his first option.
